Bungie’s veteran CEO Pete Parsons is leaving the company

by admin August 22, 2025

Bungie CEO Pete Parsons has announced that he’s leaving the Halo developer after working at the studio for more than two decades. In Parsons’ place, Justin Truman, a general manager on Destiny 2 and Bungie’s chief development officer, is taking over as studio head.

“After more than two decades of helping build this incredible studio, establishing the Bungie Foundation and growing inspiring communities around our work, I have decided to pass the torch,” Parsons shared in a statement on Bungie’s website. “Today marks the right time for a new beginning. The future of Bungie will be in the hands of a new generation of leaders, and I am thrilled to announce that Justin Truman will be stepping into leadership as Bungie’s new studio head.”

Parsons oversaw Bungie during a consequential period in the studio’s history. Bungie started publishing its own games under his leadership, ending a longterm publishing deal with Activision that helped get Destiny released. Parsons also played a role in the studio’s $3.6 million acquisition by Sony, which placed Bungie at the center of plans to develop live-service games for the PlayStation — a move that hasn’t really paid off so far.

Bungie has faced notable difficulties since coming under Sony ownership. The studio’s relative independence did nothing to spare it from having to lay off 220 employees in 2024. Developing Bungie’s next game, Marathon, has also seemed like an uphill battle. The game was delayed indefinitely earlier this year following the discovery that the alpha version of Marathon used stolen art assets.

Truman’s new leadership role suggests Destiny 2 will remain a going concern for Bungie. It might also signal a new relationship with Sony and PlayStation Studios. During a recent earnings call, Sony CFO Lin Tao said Bungie would be less independent in the future, and eventually “become part of PlayStation Studios,” PC Gamer reports.

8 Hades Tips You Should Know Before Playing. Watch on YouTube

Hades – the widely (and rightly) praised indie roguelike from Supergiant games – will be leaving Netflix on 1st July.

“Greek gods bring family charm to this glittering headlong pelt through the underworld,” reads Eurogamer’s Hades review.

The remaining games will then leave the service on 14th July. That includes Monument Valley 3, which released exclusively on Netflix last year. The game, which sees players “quest through a series of mind-bending illusions and atmospheric puzzles”, will be released on Steam on 22nd July. On Valve’s platform, ustwo games is listed as both developer and publisher.

“At each stage it’s astonishingly beautiful, offering poised, perfectly balanced images and landscapes that you yearn to explore if the game would let you. But the rigours of how it unfolds are too tight. It doesn’t want to be ugly, or let you find your own solution, even if it’s a bodged solution,” reads Eurogamer’s Monument Valley 3 review.

As to why the games are being removed, in a statement shared with What’s on Netflix, the streaming service said: “Just like with series and film, games will be removed from Netflix as licenses expire. Players will notice a ‘Leaving Soon’ badge and be notified by the app itself well in advance of removal.”

Earlier this year, Netflix additionally announced it was removing its Black Mirror interactive special Bandersnatch from the service. In November of last year, a Netflix spokesperson confirmed to Eurogamer that “almost all” of its interactive titles would be leaving the service that December.

D&D’s Jeremy Crawford and Chris Perkins un-retire, change teams to Critical Role’s Darrington Press after a combined 46 years at Wizards of the Coast, leaving jaws dropped

by admin June 17, 2025

Dear reader, it might not surprise you to hear this, given my professional, actual job is to write for a site about PC Gaming—but I’m not really into sports. This isn’t universal among our staff, mind. I was duly ribbed for the way I described the following feeling in our morning meet.

However, the recent move of Jeremy Crawford and Chris Perkins to Critical Role’s Darrington Press, after a combined 46 years at D&D, is the closest I will ever get to witnessing the transfer of a high-profile athlete between sports teams. Now, when someone talks to me about how John Sports was bought by a rival team, I can say “I know exactly how you feel about John Sports”.

Some context, first: Darrington Press is the publishing arm of Critical Role, a long-standing D&D actual play stream that’s accrued enough fans to nigh-instantly fund an Amazon Prime animated series. Critical Role has grown into its own media empire and TTRPG company, releasing sourcebooks for homebrew systems Candela Obscura and Daggerheart.

Related articles

Perkins and Crawford, meanwhile, are some major industry talents. Formerly the senior story designer and principle rules designer of Dungeons & Dragons, Perkins left WoTC in April of this year after 28 years at the company, with Crawford departing soon after.

Both were large losses for Wizards of the Coast, which had just finished releasing its 2024 ruleset overhaul. And now they’re working for Critical Role, a company that got its start livestreaming D&D, to design systems that are direct competitors. In a post to the Darrington Press website, Critical Role writes:

“Exciting news—our Darrington Press team has grown, adding Chris Perkins as our Creative Director and Jeremy Crawford as Game Director! We’re thrilled to welcome both Chris and Jeremy’s expertise in game design and storytelling, honed through decades of experience working together on tabletop games such as Dungeons & Dragons, Star Wars Roleplaying, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, and Blue Rose. We’re enormous fans of their work and are honored to welcome them into our team.”

The words “enormous fans of their work” feels like an understatement, when your company got its start playing one of their games—I don’t think Critical Role owes Wizards of the Coast fealty or anything, there’s just a certain kind of poetry in action here. The student has snapped up two of the masters.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

Perkins says: “Storytelling has always been at the heart of everything I do, and joining Darrington Press feels a bit like coming home … I’ve loved being a part of the extended Critical Role family as a regular guest over the years and I’m beyond excited to help create new worlds full of adventure.”

Crawford, meanwhile, seems buzzing with excitement. “This team is passionate, wildly creative, and committed to building welcoming, connected, amazing story-driven experiences—I can’t wait to expand on what Critical Role has already created to develop some really fun and unique games.”

Wizards of the Coast has been fumbling the bag these past 10 years when it comes to D&D—mostly. I might have my issues and grumbles and gripes with D&D’s 2024 rules remaster, but it’s a fine ruleset, and I’m certain plenty of people will enjoy it. When it comes to secondary projects like capitalising on Baldur’s Gate 3’s success, developing its own VTT, and so on? It’s stumble after stumble.

(Image credit: Darrington Press / Art by Nikki Dawes.)

I have to wonder out loud—and this is pure conjecture and speculation—whether Perkins and Crawford moving over to Darrington Press has something to do with wanting to escape a stifling, Hasbro-driven environment. Critical Role isn’t a small pennies company, mind, but it certainly doesn’t have a CEO who keeps talking about how cool AI is.

If there is any lingering disquietude, Perkins, Crawford, and Critical Role are all likely to keep it quiet—and with good reason. It’s bad professional manners to speak poorly of a former employer, for one thing, but Critical Role also isn’t entirely disconnected from the D&D brand just yet.

It’s just as likely that Perkins and Crawford want to do something new. You make the same game for a couple of decades, and you’ll want to go do something else. Especially given D&D 2024 is a rules revamp, not an overhaul—staying would mean committing to another decade or so of tinkering with the same skeleton. Whatever their reasons, I’m genuinely excited to see what Perkins and Crawford bring to the table.

Still, this has to sting a little for ol’ Wizards of the Coast. D&D 2024 went fine, but as a wider company, it can’t seem to stop losing talented business partners and employees. First Larian sets sail for greener pastures, and now this. This might be another sign that the TTRPG industry’s overdue another OGL-style shakeup.

Trump Admits ‘Elon’s Really Not Leaving’ During DOGE Press Conference

by admin May 30, 2025

President Donald Trump held a bizarre press conference with Elon Musk in the Oval Office of the White House on Friday, ostensibly to wave goodbye to the leader of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). But both Trump and Musk essentially admitted that the billionaire oligarch wasn’t really going anywhere, at least when it comes to his influence on the federal government.

“This is not the end of DOGE. This is only the beginning,” Musk said, explaining that his time as a Special Government Employee (SGE) was limited.

SGEs can’t legally work for more than 130 days in any 365-day period, and that period is indeed coming to an end for Musk. But these guys aren’t exactly known for following the rules, and it seems like a convenient way to lower Musk’s profile while maintaining his influence.

The billionaire has apparently been getting on everyone’s nerves, but Musk’s exit appears to be largely symbolic, given that many of the young men he’s installed throughout the government are still in their positions. And President Trump admitted as much during the press conference.

“Many of the DOGE people, Elon, are staying behind too, so they’re not leaving,” Trump said. “And Elon’s really not leaving. He’s going to be back and forth.”

Trump gave Musk a golden key in a box, something he said he only gives to “very special people,” and rattled off a list of things DOGE had canceled, including “making mice transgender” and “Arab Sesame Street.” Musk has taken credit for cancelling countless programs he had no legal authority to cancel, including all of USAID.

“I look forward to continuing to be a friend and advisor to the president, and I look forward to continuing to support the DOGE team,” Musk said.

During the press conference, Musk referred to the “banal evil of bureaucracy,” a dig at the normal functions of the government that don’t benefit him. Musk is a federal contractor, and not a single dollar allocated to his companies has been cut during his tenure taking a chainsaw to the government. Researchers estimate Musk’s cuts with DOGE have killed at least 300,000 people around the world and will kill millions more in the coming years, as vital public health services now go unfunded.

Musk, who started Trump’s second term by giving two Nazi-style salutes, tried to make jokes when asked questions by reporters and whined incessantly after someone mentioned the New York Times. Musk made a big show of denouncing the newspaper in front of Trump, saying they might have to give back their Pulitzer Prize for reporting on the president’s ties to Russia, something he referred to as the Russia hoax.

Katie Miller, the wife of Stephen Miller who had been working as a spokesperson for DOGE, was spotted in the room during the press conference by a photographer for Getty Images. Miller is leaving her government role to follow Musk in the private sector, though it’s not yet clear what role she’ll be playing at any of his companies. The Millers have an odd relationship with Musk, according to reports, and people on social media have joked that it may be sexual in nature, given the way Wired magazine characterized it back in February.

The official X account for the Democratic Party even shared a photo of a hotel “cuck chair” while quote-tweeting a story about Katie Miller on Friday. The account tagged Stephen Miller in the tweet.

Trump also rambled Friday about his personal grievances and “transgender for everyone,” a phrase he uses frequently on Truth Social, though it’s not clear what he means. The Trump regime has persecuted trans people in a sadistic campaign that shows no sign of ending. Musk is also an anti-trans bigot who claims that words like cisgender are slurs.

Musk, who had a black eye, was often gazing at the ceiling and into the distance, sometimes rolling his neck in circles and generally acting very strangely. Asked about the black eye by a reporter, Musk joked that he wasn’t in France, a reference to a viral clip of French President Emmanuel Macron who was recently pushed in the face by his wife. Musk said that he told his 5-year-old son X to punch him in the face.

“I said, go ahead, punch me in the face. And he did. Turns out even a 5-year-old punching you in the face actually does…” Musk said, trailing off. Trump laughed, asking if it was really X who had done that. The Tesla CEO confirmed that’s what happened with a laugh. “But I didn’t really feel much at the time,” Musk continued. “And then I guess it bruises up. But I was just horsing around with the kids.”

The Daily Mail reported Friday that Musk had an encounter with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent that turned “violent,” citing an interview with Steve Bannon. The article quotes Bannon as saying “Elon basically shoved him,” referring to the 62-year-old Bessent, though the exact timing of the confrontation wasn’t revealed. It’s not clear if Musk’s black eye may have been a result of the fight, and Bannon doesn’t say Bessent fought back, which seems like it would have been an important part of the story if that really was the explanation for Musk’s shiner.

The incident and Musk’s odd behavior in the Oval Office are sure to increase speculation about Musk’s purported drug use. The New York Times published a new report on Friday that alleges Musk has been using a number of illicit drugs, including ketamine, ecstasy, and psychedelic mushrooms. Those allegations have been long-standing ever since the Wall Street Journal reported that story in early 2024. The real revelation from the NYT seems to be that Musk has been getting advance notice of drug tests, something he needs to do to maintain his security clearance as a federal contractor for SpaceX.

NASA claimed in 2024 there has been “no evidence” of drug use by Musk, but there might be a very good reason for the lack of evidence if advance warning was given to the billionaire. Musk has previously said he is prescribed ketamine for depression, but the new report from the NYT calls into question the dosing and frequency of his use.

Musk’s alleged drug use would be ironic, of course, given the way that Trump and his supporters insist the country is being overrun by drugs and drug addicts.

Bitcoin Holds Steady With Neutral Funding Rates, Leaving Room To Rally – Details

by admin May 30, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Bitcoin (BTC) has remained range-bound for the better part of the last week, hovering just below its latest all-time high (ATH) of $111,980 reached on May 21. Despite this milestone, speculative activity appears to be subdued, as funding rates on Binance – one of the largest crypto exchanges – continue to be in neutral territory.

Bitcoin Funding Rates Remain Neutral Despite New ATH

According to a recent CryptoQuant Quicktake post by contributor Amr Taha, Bitcoin funding rates on Binance have stayed close to zero, even in the wake of a new ATH. This subdued level of funding suggests that excessive leverage among retail traders is currently absent – a positive sign for the sustainability of the ongoing rally.

Source: CryptoQuant

For the uninitiated, funding rates are periodic payments exchanged between long and short traders in perpetual futures contracts to keep the contract price aligned with the spot price. When the rate is positive, long traders pay shorts, and when it’s negative, shorts pay longs – reflecting market sentiment and leverage.

In the current context, funding rates near zero indicate a balanced sentiment between bulls and bears, with neither side aggressively leveraging their positions. This neutrality points to a more stable market environment, reducing the risk of sudden liquidations and price crashes.

Adding, Taha brought attention to recent long-side liquidations that occurred when BTC slipped below two crucial price levels, $108,500, and $107,500. These events were captured in the below Bitcoin Buy/Sell Pressure Delta (90) chart, which further supports the narrative of cautious market participation.

Source: CryptoQuant

If funding rates continue to hover around zero, it could pave the way for further sustainable growth in BTC’s price. Combined with the current Buy/Sell Pressure Delta – which remains far below previous peak levels – there appears to be considerable upside potential remaining.

Inflows From New Investors Remain Sluggish

While neutral funding rates offer hope for continued price appreciation, on-chain data shows some signs of concern. The Unspent Transaction Output (UTXO) Age Band distribution indicates that inflows from new investors – those holding BTC for less than a month – remain sluggish, even after the recent ATH.

In a separate Quicktake post, analyst Avocado_onchain noted that the share of new investors has lingered around 30% during the current cycle, compared to over 50% in past bull runs. They cautioned:

In summary, if past patterns hold true, Bitcoin’s upside may be limited without significant inflows from new investors. For now, monitoring the growth in the share of new investors will be key to assessing future market direction.

Meanwhile, the Golden Ratio Multiplier suggests that BTC could soon enter a fresh price discovery phase, with potential targets as high as $130,000. At press time, Bitcoin trades at $107,617.

Elon Musk sure does want everyone to think he’s leaving politics

by admin May 30, 2025

For the past several months, it seemed like President Donald Trump and Elon Musk were inseparable. The tech billionaire and “First Buddy” championed Trump on his reelection campaign trail, slept at the White House, attended deal-making dinners at Mar-a-Lago, and chainsawed a giant hole in the government with firings and spending cuts through DOGE.

Now, Musk is saying he’s had a change of heart. On May 28th, Musk announced that he’s officially stepping away from DOGE as his “scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end.” And in the days leading up to this update, Musk has held a flurry of interviews in which he’s tried to convince his audience that he’s done with politics.

“I think I probably did spend a bit too much time on politics,” Musk said during an interview with Ars Technica. “It was just relative time allocation that probably was a little too high on the government side, and I’ve reduced that significantly in recent weeks.” For reasons we’ve explained, the idea he’s leaving politics is suspect — but he’s got good reasons to say he is.

Musk’s time as a special government employee always had a legal 130-day deadline that was up at the end of May. He isn’t known for strictly obeying laws, and at the height of his power at DOGE, it wasn’t clear if he would follow this one. But as the deadline neared, there were numerous signs Musk was wearing out his welcome in Washington. News outlets reported clashes with other Trump administration members, including an argument that saw Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent repeatedly shouting “Fuck you!” in the West Wing. After Trump announced sweeping tariffs and a trade war with China — both of which threatened Musk’s electric vehicle business — the billionaire retaliated in a public spat with trade advisor Peter Navarro.

“I must be super focused on X/xAI and Tesla.”

A rift between Trump and Musk opened up with the Republican-backed “Big Beautiful Bill,” which Musk dubbed a “massive spending bill” that “increases the budget deficit, not just decreases it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing” in an interview with CBS. And in one more loss, Trump greenlit OpenAI’s plan to build data centers in Saudi Arabia, despite Musk’s attempts to “derail” the deal for not including xAI, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

Last month, the White House dismissed rumors that Musk’s departure from DOGE was imminent. “Elon Musk and President Trump have both publicly stated that Elon will depart from public service as a special government employee when his incredible work at DOGE is complete,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said at the time. Now, just weeks later, a source told Reuters that Musk didn’t have a conversation with Trump before he revealed that he’s leaving, and that “his departure was decided at a ‘senior staff level.’”

Arguably, the bigger issue is Musk’s shareholders getting nervous about his detachment from his companies, so as part of his alleged transition from government employee to just a regular billionaire, he’s started to reemphasize his commitment to his businesses.

Tesla is in trouble, with Musk’s involvement in the government leading to a sinking stock and making it a target for protests. It saw a massive dip in sales throughout Europe in particular. As part of efforts to regain favor among investors, Musk said last week that he’s committed to leading Tesla for the next five years. “It’s not a money thing,” Musk said during an interview with Bloomberg at the Qatar Economic Forum. “It’s a reasonable control thing, over the future of the company, especially if we’re building millions, potentially billions of humanoid robots.” Tesla is also gearing up to introduce its robotaxi service next month, according to Bloomberg, despite sharing little detail about the milestone.

Then there’s X, which Musk’s xAI purchased for $33 billion on paper in March. The platform has seen a big dip in European users and has been plagued by outages in recent weeks. “Back to spending 24/7 at work and sleeping in conference/server/factory rooms,” Musk wrote on X last week in response to a post about an outage on X. “I must be super focused on X/xAI and Tesla (plus Starship launch next week), as we have critical technologies rolling out.”

This week, Musk returned to Texas for SpaceX’s Starship launch — sans MAGA hat. In interviews with Ars Technica, Musk talked up the company’s plans to bring humans to Mars and build a base on the Moon. “We should be going 1,000 times farther, and going to Mars,” Musk said. “And if we are gonna go to the Moon, I think we should do a Moon base, or something that’s the next level beyond Apollo.”

The Washington Post also caught up with Musk at SpaceX’s headquarters in Starbase, Texas, where he similarly reiterated the company’s big ambitions about getting to Mars. “SpaceX is sort of ultra hardcore,” Musk told the outlet. “But if we’re not ultra hardcore, how are we going to get to Mars? You’re not going to get to Mars in 40 hours a week.”

When talking about his time in DC, Musk pointed out the “uphill battle” he faced trying to get things done, and reflected on the negative sentiment surrounding DOGE’s nearly wholesale attempted destruction of several government agencies, including cuts to projects like Ebola prevention. “DOGE is just becoming the whipping boy for everything,” he told the Post. “So, like, something bad would happen anywhere, and we would get blamed for it even if we had nothing to do with it.”

Even while downplaying his political ambitions, though, Musk didn’t disavow them. He told the Post that he’s not completely done with DOGE, and that the agency will focus “a bit more like tackling projects with the highest gain for the pain, which still means a lot of good things in terms of reducing waste and fraud,” without mentioning what those were.

Musk may not be present at the White House or brushing shoulders with Trump on world tours, but his specter still looms over DC.

Another Top Musk Lieutenant Appears to Be Leaving DOGE

by admin May 29, 2025

One of Elon Musk’s top allies at the General Services Administration (GSA), Nicole Hollander, appears to be scaling back her work for the agency, according to sources and documents obtained by WIRED. Since January, Hollander, who is affiliated with Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has been working on real estate projects related to federal leases and office buildings for GSA.

The move is part of a purported wind-down for Musk and his leadership team at the so-called Department of Government Efficiency. On Wednesday, Musk posted on X that his “scheduled time as a Special Government Employee” was coming to an end, and thanked President Trump for “the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending.” The post echoed remarks Musk made last month in a Q1 earnings call with Tesla shareholders, where he said he’d be spending just “a day or two a week on government matters.” It’s not yet clear whether those remarks were made to appease Tesla shareholders or truly reflect a decision to scale back Musk’s government involvement.

Steve Davis, a longtime Musk lieutenant, is also reportedly leaving DOGE, according to the Wall Street Journal. Davis has played a key role in Musk’s government operations, including overseeing budget cuts and hiring practices. He’s also Hollander’s partner.

Both Davis and Hollander played an instrumental role in Musk’s Twitter takeover in 2022. During that transition, they moved into the Twitter office building in San Francisco with their newborn baby. Hollander oversaw real estate projects for Twitter (now X), while Davis managed a brutal cost cutting program known as zero-based budgeting. When they were done, the company was almost unrecognizable, with a real estate footprint and employee base a fraction of its former size.

Their time in government has also seen a radical shrinking of the federal workforce, with tens of thousands of employees losing their jobs. Since February, the GSA has been carrying out plans to prepare to sell hundreds of federal office buildings. With Davis and Hollander apparently out, their cost-cutting work seems to be continuing: On May 29, GSA sent out a memo saying it was speeding up the sale or transfer of the Captain John F. Williams Coast Guard building, which is United States Coast Guard’s New England headquarters.

GSA employees say no official announcement has been made regarding Davis and Hollander—and noted they’ve seen multiple members of the DOGE team in the office in recent weeks. Edward Coristine—the young engineer known online as “Big Balls”—appears, for example, to be continuing his government work, scheduling meetings with agencies including the Treasury and the Federal Emergency Management Agency as recently as May 29.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment by WIRED. The GSA also did not respond to a request for comment by WIRED. Hollander, reached via a direct message on X, also did not respond prior to publication.

5 movies leaving Netflix in May 2025 you have to watch now

by admin May 24, 2025

May belongs to Vince Vaughn and the grandmothers. Nonnas, which premiered on May 9, has become a hit on Netflix and remains in the top 10 most popular movies list. From the kitchen to the football field, Untold: The Fall of Favre is a fascinating look into two notorious scandals involving Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre.

Nonnas and The Fall of Favre will remain on the streamer when the calendar changes from May to June. Unfortunately, these five movies are departing the service. One of them is Batman Begins, the first movie in the spectacular Dark Knight trilogy. Check out the rest of the picks below.

We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on Max, and the best movies on Disney+.

Batman Begins (2005)

Warner Bros. Pictures

In 2025, Christopher Nolan is the top filmmaker in Hollywood concerning power, notoriety, and recognition. 20 years ago, Nolan did not have the same juice he has now. However, Batman Begins is arguably the movie that changed his career. The previous Batman movies treated Bruce Wayne like a comic book character. Nolan crafted a more grounded and nuanced version of the character, starting with a gritty origin story in Batman Begins.

After years of training and traveling globally, Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) returns to Gotham City and becomes Batman, the masked vigilante intent on ridding the city of crime. Batman’s foes include his former mentor, Henri Ducard (Liam Neeson), and Scarecrow (Cillian Murphy), two men who believe Gotham isn’t worth saving. After watching Batman Begins, stream The Dark Knight and Batman Begins, which also leave at the end of the month.

Stream Batman Begins on Netflix.

Den of Thieves (2018)

STXfilms

What a comeback year it’s been for Den of Thieves. The cult classic’s popularity led to a sequel, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, which premiered in January. Plus, a third movie is now in the works. However, these sequels would not have been possible without the original from 2018. Written and directed by Christian Gudegast, Den of Thieves is a heist film set in Los Angeles that pits the cops against the robbers.

The lines are blurred as neither side is good nor evil. The police are led by Big Nick O’Brien (Gerard Butler), a renegade cop who frequently breaks the law to apprehend the enemy. The outlaws’ leader is Ray Merrimen (Pablo Schreiber), a former Marine and mastermind of a heist crew. Merrimen’s group plans to hit the Federal Reserve Bank, and Big Nick plans to stop it. It’s going to get loud, violent, and chaotic once these two sides battle.

Stream Den of Thieves on Netflix.

Pride & Prejudice (2005)

Universal Pictures

“You have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love you.” Jane Austen fans will recognize that iconic line from Joe Wright’s terrific adaptation of Pride & Prejudice. In the English countryside live the five Bennet sisters: Jane (Rosamund Pike), Elizabeth (Kiera Knightley), Mary (Talulah Riley), Kitty (Carey Mulligan), and Lydia (Jena Malone). The girls have been pressured by their father to find a suitable husband, particularly a wealthy one.

The free-spirited Elizabeth has no plans to marry for money and will hold out for love. Could that man be Mr. Darcy (Matthew Macfadyen)? Good luck not falling in love with the will-they-won’t-they dilemma between Elizabeth and Darcy.

Stream Pride & Prejudice on Netflix.

GoodFellas (1990)

Warner Bros. Pictures

Martin Scorsese’s greatest movie is about to leave Netflix, which is a crime against humanity. The late Ray Liotta plays Henry Hill, a Brooklyn teenager who advances within the ranks of the Mafia to become one of its top lieutenants. While working for the mafia, Henry becomes closely associated with Jimmy Conway (Robert De Niro), an Irish-American gangster, and Tommy DeVito (Joe Pesci), a fiery criminal.

The trio reaps the rewards of being in the mafia — money, drugs, and power. These items also lead to their demise. The brilliance of Goodfellas is how Scorsese divides the story into two halves. The first half glamorizes the mafia lifestyle, while the second half explores the dark consequences of being a gangster. Describing Goodfellas as a masterpiece does not do it justice.

Stream Goodfellas on Netflix.

Two Weeks Notice (2002)

Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant starring in Two Weeks Notice is equivalent to Captain America and Iron Man joining the Avengers. Bullock and Grant became two of the ’90s biggest names, especially in rom-coms. The stars aligned in Two Weeks Notice, Marc Lawrence’s take on the opposites attract trope. Lawyer Lucy Kelson (Sandra Bullock) will do whatever it takes to protect the environment. Billionaire George Wade (Hugh Grant) only cares about himself and his money.

Lucy works for George after he promises to save a community center. At first, oil and water are a better mix than Lucy and George. Over time, the duo come to appreciate one another’s company and gain feelings. Even with a predictable ending, Two Weeks Notice will satisfy anyone who loves on-screen chemistry between the leads.

Stream Two Weeks Notice on Netflix.

Eagleopolis has fallen despite Helldivers 2 players slapping up 2.5 billion squids for an opening victory in the battle for Super Earth, leaving six Mega Cities to defend

Do you want the good news or the bad news first? Well, good news, Helldivers 2 managed to win the first major order of the battle for Super Earth by slaughtering over two billion Illuminate. The bad news? It’s not stopped Eagleopolis from falling.

As it turns out, not even the biggest number of Helldivers the game’s had since last spring diving in to help try and hold off the invasion of fresh Illuminate baddies was enough to stop one of Super Earth’s seven Mega Cities being reduced to ruins. It’s ok, don’t cry. Hug your SEAF buddy and watch a clip of someone surfing on a Leviathan if that’ll help.

The previous major order, which was the Helldivers’ initial defense of Super Earth after the Illuminate invasion of their home planet began with the arrival of the Heart of Democracy update, ended this morning. Things looked good, the goal of casually killing 2.5 billion Illuminate had been achieved. Let the good times roll right?

Nope, said Arrowhead. “Eagleopolis, a venerable stronghold of Managed Democracy since time immemorial, lies in ruins,” the studio informed us all via its latest MO briefing, “Its tattered shopping centers stand in warning as to the fate that awaits the rest of Super Earth, should our mission fail.”

So, that’s one of the seven Mega Cities which make up Super Earth destroyed, but there’s still a long way to go in the battle for Super Earth, and that win has seen folks make some progress towards wiping out the entire Illuminate fleet or forcing it to retreat.

“Illuminate Fleet Strength currently stands at 49%,” Arrowhead continued, “Six Mega Cities remain standing. The Helldivers must dig in, alongside their SEAF allies, and continue to fight, day and night, to defend the heart of our Federation. The surviving Mega Cities must be defended at all costs. The Helldivers must deploy to the Mega Cities as Illuminate pressure shifts among them to prevent them from falling. Once they fall, they cannot be reclaimed.”

Hence the latest order’s goal – successfull extract from missions against the Illuminate 20 million times, in order to strike a further blow to the fleet’s big invisible health bar. And, of course, to avenge Eagleopolis, which I’m sure people on the game’s subreddit would be cut up about if they weren’t too busy post fan art about loving their SEAF trooper buddies in a fashion that totally isn’t getting a bit creepy.

Are you shedding super tears for Eagleopolis? Let us know below!

Here’re the games leaving PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium in June

by admin May 21, 2025

Following last week’s PlayStation Plus catalogue additions for May, Sony has announced its next batch of departures, with Monster Hunter Rise and more all leaving the service in June.

In total, PlayStation Plus’ newly updated Last Chance to Play section confirms six titles are currently scheduled to be removed from the service next month, meaning the clock is ticking if you were hoping to see any of the following games’ credits roll:

  • Monster Hunter Rise
  • Rogue Legacy 2
  • Inscryption
  • After Us
  • Kayak VR: Mirage
  • Avicii Invector

The good news is it’s a considerably smaller list compared to last month, when Sony jettisoned over 22 titles – including the likes of Grand Theft Auto 5, Batman: Arkham Knight, Payday 2, Ghostrunner, and Journey to the Savage Planet. But that’s not to say none of June’s removals will be missed; Monster Hunter Rise is a stellar entry in Capcom’s long-running series, while Rogue Legacy 2 – with its jauntily compelling permadeath platform exploration – and the wonderfully sinister Inscryption both come highly recommended.

And if you’ve managed to miss the news of PlayStation Plus’ latest additions so far this month, these include Battlefield 5, Stalker: Legends of the Zone Trilogy, Humankind, and Sandland for Premium and Extra subscribers. Ark: Survival Ascended, Balatro, and Warhammer 40K: Boltgun, meanwhile, can be picked up across all three membership tiers. You can find more details in Eurogamer’s full PlayStation Plus guide.
