League of Legends update 25.13 patch notes

League of Legends patch 25.13 is going to be relatively light due to it being the MSI 2025 patch, with changes mainly targeting pro play relevant champions. But that doesn’t mean that it won’t impact you at all.

LoL patches tend to slow down a bit ahead of big internationals to really dial balance in and give pros the opportunity to get their read on the meta and refine it, and 25.13 is that patch.

With Yunara coming right around the corner on 25.14, we’ll be right back into big changes next time around. For now, though it’s just some some light adjustments to try and hit popular champs at a high level of play and boost lesser played champs to give them a shot of showing up at these events.

How Rematch ranks work: What you need to rank up in each league and division

When you launch Rematch for the first time, a little pop-up will warn you that the game is “best experienced with a controller.” After ignoring that to see how it felt with my beloved mouse and keyboard, I’m not sure I agree; while the mouse controls take some getting used to, they may be preferable depending on your comfort level with thumbstick aiming.

A controller gives you more freedom of movement and more intuitive passing

The reasons to use a gamepad for Rematch are the usual ones. With an analog stick, you can easily move around and aim passes in 360 degrees instead of combining mouse movements with WASD’s 8 possible directions, and the button setup is a little more intuitive.

For instance, on a gamepad you can use the buttons to tap, light tap, and push the ball in combination with the right bumper to do lob versions of those same moves. On a keyboard, all of those commands and their lobbed versions are different buttons by default, so it requires a bit more memorization unless you’re willing to tinker with the keybinds yourself.

Passing is also significantly easier if you’re using a thumbstick. When passing in Rematch, you hold down the appropriate button for your setup and have a split second to aim it. On a controller, you’re doing that with the left stick, the same input you move with, and on a keyboard, you’re dragging the mouse in the direction you want to pass while moving with WASD.

On a thumbstick, I feel like I know exactly where the ball is headed; it’s going the exact direction my character is, and any adjustments are easily made with the stick by flicking at the exact angle I want. Movement on the mouse is far twitchier, and there’s currently no option to choose a direction for your pass with WASD; even if you’re strafing left and right, the ball will always head the direction your camera is facing unless you adjust with the mouse.

…But precise shooting is far easier with a mouse

The reason to consider playing Rematch with a keyboard and mouse is down to the shooting.

You shoot by aiming a center-of-camera crosshair at your target and holding down either the right trigger or the left mouse button; as you approach the ball, you have a brief moment to shape your shot. Tricky shots that mislead enemy goalies are essential to scoring, and a mouse is simply far nimbler at swerving the camera to just the right spot.

You might find lining up a shot with the right stick easier if you’ve used a gamepad all your life, but I find it easier to use a mouse for the same reason I do in the vast majority of FPSes or for pitching in Super Mega Baseball. A stick is great for 3D movement, but shooting is just about clean and simple crosshair movement: that thing mouses are built to do.

There are a number of keybind presets that take advantage of extra mouse buttons, so don’t be afraid to bust out the old MMO mouse and fiddle around with the settings. I’ll be sticking with the default mouse and keyboard setup myself, but freeplay has been immensely helpful for tuning my preferred sensitivities and trying different binds.

South Korea lifts 26-year ban on foreign goalkeepers in the K League

A 26-year ban on foreign goalkeepers in South Korea’s top flight has been lifted for the start of the 2026 season.

Only Korean goalkeepers have been allowed to play in the K League — the oldest professional domestic league in Asia — since 1999. The rule was introduced in a bid to protect homegrown talent when there were only 10 professional clubs.

The K League announced after a board meeting in Seoul this week that because there’s now 26 professional clubs in the top two tiers of competition, there’s enough room for international goalkeepers.

“The increase in the number of clubs means that there are enough opportunities for domestic goalkeepers to play even if foreign goalkeepers are allowed,” the board said in a statement.

There were reportedly concerns, due to the increased size of modern rosters which contain three or four goalkeepers, that there’s a shortage of quality keepers in the country.

The move will put the K League in line with other major Asian leagues in Japan, Saudi Arabia and China.

I played the challenging new online football game coming to Xbox Game Pass that’s been likened to Rocket League and was immediately transported back to my school’s playground

If I had to name the one thing I miss most about my school days (and to be honest, I’m going back a fairly long way here) I’d say it’s the ability to play football every day. I’m sure I could do that now if I really wanted to, but never again will I be in a position to run out onto the playground or field every breaktime and always have enough people for at least some five-a-side. It was glorious. Tennis ball, sopping wet sponge ball, tatty old mini leather ball… we’d have kicked around a bunch of rolled up paper if we had to. Having played Sloclap’s (Sifu, Absolver) Rematch for a few hours it’s already provided the closest I’ve experienced to those classic days of scuffed shoes and grass-stained trousers.

This kind of five-a-side-style game of football isn’t new to video games, of course. It’s most memorable for me in FIFA 97 (the one with legend David Ginola on the European cover art), although unlike in Rematch the gameplay on the 32-Bit systems of the time is viewed from the side of the pitch, with you essentially possessing whichever player has the ball. In Rematch you control one player who is part of a three-to-five-player team. If you’ve played Be a Pro/Player Career in modern FIFA/EA FC, with the camera hovering behind your player, you’ll know what to expect. The difference here in Rematch is the level of control you have over what you do with the ball and the more arcade feel to the matches.

It’s easy to see why onlookers have somewhat hilariously labeled Rematch as football Rocket League. The visuals (futuristic and neon), the arenas, the slightly closed-off feeling as you can’t easily see what’s around you, it all has that Rocket League sauce. But ball control, as you might expect from an actual football game, is very different. Passing is angled to where you point with the left stick (when playing with a controller), shooting is precision-targeted to where the camera is pointed as if you are playing a third-person shooter, strength and loft can be decided, and you have some finer close-control that simply isn’t possible when hitting an oversize ball with a car. This is the closest a game has come to mimicking the feel of playing football, and I’m loving it.

I’ve mostly played 3v3 matches so far, although you can also choose 4v4 and 5v5. Despite a tutorial that runs you through the basics, nothing prepares you for the intensity of an actual match where you’ll likely fumble under the pressure that simply isn’t felt during the training. 3v3, if anything, at least means I am letting fewer people down, so I’m sticking to this mode for the time being. There’s a fairly steep learning curve to battle through in Rematch, and the added stress of having more people wanting the ball or trying to dispossess you of the ball isn’t conducive to learning.

You’re always playing with and against other humans online in Rematch, whether it’s a bunch of friends who you regularly party up with or a group of randoms, and thus the school playground feeling is thrust front and centre. There are none of the deeper rules in Rematch (so no offside, no fouls, no handball), just a requirement to score more goals than the opposing team. There’s also no set goalkeeper (oh, hello core school memory that has just come rushing back), so you can be diving to save a shot one second and charging up the pitch the next as you attempt to score yourself.

This free, casual feel in a fiercely fought online game inevitably, at least in these early days, leads to chaos. The positionally-decided goalie is reminiscent of “rush keepers” from school, wherein anyone could be in goal, but it could only be one person at a time. If there’s a defining characteristic of school kids or people who play competitive games online, though, it’s an eagerness to show off. That goalie who ended up on the half-way line (honestly, there were some right liabilities for this at my school) is often dispossessed while trying to flick the ball over their head, leaving an open goal for all but the most spherically incompetent.

Let’s not pretend I’m innocent in all of this, either. Everyone, I assume, sees the spotlight focus on them at crucial moments, thinking for that split-second that you are in fact Romario and not actually a slightly chubby 11-year-old. Or, in Rematch’s case today, Harry Kane and not actually 42 – the chubbiness remains. Over time I’m sure this ball-hogging and headline grabbing will make way for more finessed play, and the signs are promising. I’ve already mildly thrown a fist or two into the air after a peak-Barcelona move ended in a goal to win a game in the dying moments. With two teams battling hard, not making mistakes, these sequences of play will be even more jubilant.

Concerns at this stage are mostly to do with goalkeeping. Not so much the way players leave the goals exposed, which is part of the game, but the act of saving itself. I’ve got to grips with the fundamentals of passing and shooting so that I’m not a complete embarrassment, but I still find myself diving in comical fashion as my hands flail nowhere near the ball, with replays confirming I was beaten by shots even the previously lambasted school children could have saved. I’m going to hit the training modes some more to see if I can become more competent.

There’s also the longevity to consider. Sloclap has promised new content in each season, but this is impossible to judge at this point, as is the general hook of leveling up your rank. An online-centric game like this also needs a healthy player base, which is far from a given. Rocket League, if you remember, launched into PlayStation Plus back when it was a premium paid-for offering. This helped establish a community. Rematch is part of Game Pass, but the early going will need to be smooth for those initially interested players to stick around.

I’ve tried at various points to get into Rocket League. I understand its popularity, but I never quite gelled with it. Rematch is an easier sell. I understand it and can intuitively play it, while there still being a clear path to improvement. Whether or not I’ll still be playing in a month or six months, who knows, but for now I’ve got my evening gaming sessions sorted. It feels good to be back, knocking a ball about – and this time not having to worry about smashing Class 3B’s window.

Premier League fixtures Arsenal open at Man United both face tough starts

Arsenal begin their Premier League campaign with a trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United and then face away games against Liverpool and Newcastle United and a home clash with Manchester City in their opening six games of the 2025-26 season.

United and Manchester City, two sides that struggled last season, also have difficult starts to the season.

After an opening-day test against Arsenal, Ruben Amorim will be looking to get points on the board against Fulham and Burnley before facing City and Chelsea in a difficult opening run. United travel to Anfield on Oct. 18 with the return fixture against Liverpool at Old Trafford on May 2.

Pep Guardiola’s revamped side, who are competing in the Club World Cup this summer, begin at Wolverhampton Wanderers and then face Tottenham Hotspur, United and Arsenal in their first five games.

Premier League champions Liverpool will begin their title defence against AFC Bournemouth at Anfield and play the season’s curtain raiser with the game kicking off on Friday, Aug. 18, at 8 p.m. BST (3 p.m. ET).

Liverpool then travel to Newcastle and host Arsenal in their opening three games before hosting Everton, United and travelling to Chelsea by mid-October.

Following the opening round of the Champions League, Liverpool host Everton in the first Merseyside derby of the campaign and City travel to Arsenal. After subsequent Champions League rounds Arne Slot’s side travel to Chelsea, Brentford and City. Arsenal have home games after the first three rounds of the flagship European competition.

Today, the League of Legends team revealed in-game details about the newest Champion, Yunara the Unbroken Faith.

During the Darkin War, Yunara, the Kinkou Order’s Fist of Shadow, sacrificed herself to contain the Darkin Glaive within the Spirit Realm. There she remained until the Wyldbloom returned both her and the shrine she was sealed within to the Mortal Realm. “When the Eye is blinded and the Heart falters, the Fist must strike all the harder.”Now, centuries in the future, Yunara finds herself in an Ionia she barely recognizes, armed with knowledge and techniques long forgotten—until now.

Of Course, James Gunn Is Thinking About a ‘Justice League’ Movie

Superman, Supergirl, Green Lantern, Peacemaker, Clayface—the list of characters 100% confirmed for James Gunn’s new DC Universe is already fairly robust. Eventually, names like Batman and Wonder Woman will join too and, in a world where superhero team-up movies are both expected and demanded, Gunn admitted that the Justice League is probably on the horizon.

“Of course, of course,” Gunn told Entertainment Weekly when asked if the Justice League was something he’d been thinking about. “But there is no Justice League in this world… not yet.”

“Not yet” implies that the movies coming now, and later, could be building to that—and when asked if the Justice League plays a role in what Gunn has planned for the overall DC Universe story, he simply replied, “Sure.”

Basically, a lot of things have to happen before we get to see the James Gunn-Peter Safran version of the Justice League. First is the release of Superman on July 11. If that’s not a hit, well, all bets are off. But assuming it is, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow would be next in 2026, with Batman and Wonder Woman projects announced over two years ago both still in development.

Gunn confirmed to EW that a Wonder Woman movie is “being written right now,” while the previously announced show about Themyscira is “slow moving, but it’s moving.” No updates on Gunn’s version of Batman but the Matt Reeves’ Batman Part II starring Robert Pattinson is still full steam ahead for a 2027 release. “What Matt’s doing is still really important, despite all stories to the contrary,” Gunn said. “We’re supposed to see that script shortly, and I can’t wait.”

Gunn was also asked about what’s next for him and Superman. The writer-director admitted earlier this year that his next film is something he was already in the process of writing. However, he would neither confirm nor deny that the film was a sequel or included Superman. In this new interview, he had an intriguing answer when asked if he had begun thinking about a Superman sequel. “What I’m working on is in some way… I mean, yes, yes, yes, yes. But is it a straight-up Superman sequel? I would not say necessarily.”

While all of this is going around in Gunn’s mind, one place it’s not is in star David Corenswet’s. When asked about potentially leading a Justice League movie, Superman himself said he’s choosing not to think about it. “I mean, that sounds awesome,” he said. “I don’t take it upon myself to think ahead in that kind of way, just because one would hate to get one’s hopes up about anything in particular and then have it go in another direction. What I like to do is stay blissfully ignorant, and then when James tells me what’s going to happen, I get to have a wonderful surprise. So if Justice League is in the back of his mind, that sounds great to me. I’ll put it at the back of my mind and we’ll see what happens.”
