Resident Evil Requiem officially announced and it’s launching in February 2026

by admin June 7, 2025

  • Resident Evil Requiem has officially been announced
  • The ninth entry launches on February 27, 2026, for PC and console
  • Requiem‘s protagonist is FBI agent Grace Ashcroft, who could be related to Resident Evil Outbreak‘s Alyssa Ashcroft

It’s official, Resident Evil Requiem is set to launch on February 27, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.

The next Resident Evil game was the final announcement of Summer Game Fest 2025 and was unveiled with a chilling cinematic trailer showing off the game’s protagonist, FBI technical analyst Grace Ashcroft, and a nuked Racoon City.

Capcom is calling the ninth entry “a new era of survival horror,” and host Geoff Keighly describes it as a “bold shift for the franchise both in tone and gameplay,” and that players should expect “high-stakes cinematic action”.

“Requiem for the dead. Nightmare for the living. Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth title in the mainline Resident Evil series,” the blurb reads. “Prepare to escape death in a heart-stopping experience that will chill you to your core.

“A new era of survival horror begins in 2026. Technological advancements combined with the development team’s depth of experience combine in a story with rich characters and gameplay that’s more immersive than ever before.”

Bizarrely, Jun Takeuchi, Resident Evil executive producer, made a brief appearance earlier in the broadcast to tease the game, but stated that Capcom wasn’t ready to reveal it.

From the trailer, it seems that Resident Evil Requiem will follow Grace as she investigates a serial killer who has a connection to her deceased mother.

It’s unclear if former Resident Evil characters, like Leon and Jill, will make an appearance, but it appears that Grace Ashcroft is related to Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil Outbreak and Outbreak File #2.

‘FIFA Rivals’ Game Launching Next Week on iOS, Android

by admin June 6, 2025

In brief

  • Mobile soccer game FIFA Rivals will release on iOS and Android on June 12.
  • Mythical’s latest sports game features arcade-style gameplay and tradable NFT player cards.
  • Adidas will feature in the game via branded kits, jerseys, shoes, and a training facility.

Blockchain-powered mobile soccer game FIFA Rivals will release on June 12 on both iOS and Android, Mythical Games announced Friday, revealing a multi-year licensing agreement with sportswear giant Adidas in the process.

The team-up will integrate Adidas products throughout FIFA Rivals, including digital kits, jerseys, and shoe releases that draw from the brand’s soccer heritage. Players will have access to exclusive in-game items and experiences designed around Adidas branding.

“FIFA Rivals is all about celebrating the global passion for football in a fresh and modern way,” said Mythical Games co-founder and CEO John Linden, in a statement. “Bringing Adidas into this world gives players a deeper cultural connection and the chance to represent one of the most iconic brands in football—on and off the pitch. This collaboration sets a new standard for how brands show up in digital experiences.”

The collaboration includes digital kit drops featuring classic and future-forward Adidas jersey designs, boot releases tied to real-world player performance, a limited-edition match ball, and a training facility where players can upgrade their digital cards.

FIFA Rivals pairs the soccer governing body’s branding with fast-paced, casual-friendly gameplay, letting players build teams using major clubs and stars. They can then compete in real-time matches against other players, and trade digital player cards as NFTs on the Mythical Marketplace.

Mythical Games previously launched NFL Rivals, an officially licensed American football game, which similarly features tradable player cards minted as NFTs on Mythos Chain, a network powered by Polkadot tech.

In a separate move last month, FIFA announced plans to launch its own Avalanche L1 chain to support its FIFA Collect platform, which lets users purchase and trade digital collectibles based on real-world players and moments.

Mario Kart World launching today alongside Nintendo Switch 2

by admin June 5, 2025

Where’s the GT crew? Standing in line to pick up a Nintendo Switch 2! We’re as excited as you, and there’s plenty of reasons why, not the least of which being the newest installment in Nintendo’s raucous roller, Mario Kart World. New game consoles are always an absolute blast, so let’s join the celebration and discover what’s under the hood and a bit behind the wheel on Mario Kart World.

The Joy-Con 2 controllers are snapped in place, the bigger, bolder screen is lit up, and Mario and friends are revving their rides for the biggest Mario Kart yet. It’s official: the Nintendo Switch 2 system, the Mario Kart World game and over 20 titles are now available to power up your play.In this photo provided by Nintendo of America, Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser sells the very first Nintendo Switch 2 system to an eager fan following the midnight system launch at Nintendo NEW YORK in Rockefeller Plaza. Nintendo Switch 2, the seamlessly social, all-in-one Nintendo platform, is available now.

It’s crazy to think that it’s been EIGHT YEARS since the launch of the wildly-successful Nintendo Switch, but the wait is finally over. While we did trek out to the Nintendo Store in NYC for a hands-on event (thanks to Jackson Lustberg for his hands-on coverage, which you can read right here: https://gamingtrend.com/previews/nintendo-switch-2-games-preview-roundup/), we’ve had to wait to finally get our hands on it once again. With a wealth of new features, it’s worth diving under the hood to hear all about them:

Nintendo Switch 2 builds on the foundations of the Nintendo Switch system, and delivers a multitude of new features and enhancements, including:

  • New social capabilities with the built-in mic and the new online feature GameChat, where up to 12 friends and family can play games and talk like they’re all in the same room, even when they’re miles apart. You can also video chat with up to four people if you connect a compatible USB-C camera, such as the Nintendo Switch 2 camera (sold separately).
  • Powerful CPU and GPU capable of enhanced visuals and performance.
  • A large 7.9-inch built-in LCD screen that displays in full HD at 1080p.
  • Joy-Con 2 controllers that magnetically attach to the system. New mouse controls are also possible by sliding them across surfaces, such as a tabletop or even your lap in compatible games.
  • 256 GB storage capacity – 8 times that of Nintendo Switch (a portion of which is reserved for use by the system).
  • USB-C ports on the top and bottom of the system, and a freely adjustable stand for playing and charging in tabletop mode.
  • Crisp audio quality and spatial 3D sound in handheld and tabletop modes.
  • A new dock that enables the Nintendo Switch 2 to output video at up to 4K resolution or play games at up to 120 fps in supported games on compatible displays or TVs.
  • Variable refresh rate (VRR) technology, available in handheld mode, helps games move seamlessly by preventing frame skips and flickering.
  • Accessibility features to support a wide range of gameplay styles.

Free updates to enhance the gameplay experience on the Nintendo Switch 2 system will also be available for select Nintendo Switch games2. By connecting your Nintendo Switch 2 to the internet and performing a system update, you can download free updates for selected games that may improve graphics or add support for various features. These features include GameShare3, where, with a Nintendo Switch 2 system, you can share supported games with friends and family — even if they don’t have the game, and everyone can play together. The contents of these free updates will differ depending on the game. For more information on the free Nintendo Switch 2 updates for select Nintendo Switch titles, please visit the Nintendo website.

In addition to GameChat and existing online features with a Nintendo Switch Online membership, today Nintendo Switch 2 owners with a paid Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership gain access to upgrade packs4 for both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom games. These upgrade packs allow players to enjoy the enhanced Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of both titles at no additional cost if they have the Nintendo Switch version of the games.

Additionally, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members who have a Nintendo Switch 2 system can access the new Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics library, featuring F-Zero GX, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and SOULCALIBUR II at launch today, with clearer image quality and higher resolution than the original releases. Plus, a dedicated wireless controller designed after the original Nintendo GameCube controller will be available for purchase by paid Nintendo Switch Online members5.

Nintendo Switch 2 is now available at a suggested retail price of $449.99 in the United States. Also available today is the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle6 at a suggested retail price of $499.99 in the U.S., which includes a system and a digital version of the Mario Kart World game. For more information about Nintendo Switch 2 and accessories, visit Nintendo.com.

Today, Nintendo launched its first brand-new gaming platform in eight years with Nintendo Switch 2, and the latest Mario Kart game for consoles in over a decade with Mario Kart World. Nintendo Switch 2 brings to life new ways to connect and play with friends and family with new features and reimagined online capabilities such as GameChat1. Mario Kart World allows players to hit the road in a vast interconnected playground where the world is their racetrack. Further, the Nintendo Switch 2 launch lineup features acclaimed titles from Nintendo’s global publishing and development partners, such as Split Fiction, Street Fighter 6, Sid Meier’s Civilization® VII – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition and more. Together, these new experiences mark a leap forward in Nintendo’s mission to deliver smiles to people the world over – All Together, Anytime, Anywhere.

The great news is that we have these games and several more already being reviewed by the team. Whether it’s as brand new adventure or an improvement to an existing title, we’ll have all you need to know soon enough – stay tuned. Let’s kick off that list with a brand new launch trailer from Nintendo themselves that showcases a few of these titles.

If you’re curious as to whether this newest installment of Mario Kart World is for you, we’ll we’ve got that info as well. There are two versions of the launch console box – one with just the console, and the other with Mario Kart World as a pack-in, so it’s worth taking a moment to see what’s going on with this racer.

Mario Kart World delivers frenzied Mario Kart racing like never before, as well as a series-first: a vast interconnected environment to explore and race across. Players looking to hit the road with Mario and friends can experience:

  • Up to 24 drivers at once – the most in Mario Kart history – race across courses.
  • Reimagined returning modes like Grand Prix competition, where the paths between courses are part of the race, too.
  • Knockout Tour, a new game mode where checkpoints eliminate drivers if they can’t keep up with the pack.
  • Free Roam mode, another new game mode, where players can explore, see the sights and more, solo or with friends online. There are hundreds of single-player missions to complete in Free Roam, too.
  • Plus, look forward to hectic faceoffs in the Battle mode!
  • Multiple ways to play together with friends, locally7 or online8. This includes local split-screen for up to 4 players on the same system, local wireless play, and competing or exploring with people from around the world (or friends) in online play.
  • Using the new GameChat feature on Nintendo Switch 2, players can talk with friends around the world while playing online. Plus, see their live expressions in-game with the new CameraPlay feature by connecting a compatible USB-C camera to the system (sold separately).

Packed with races to win and ways for players to explore at their own pace, Mario Kart World can be enjoyed by both longtime fans and newcomers alike. Mario Kart World is now available in stores, on Nintendo eShop or at Nintendo.com at a suggested retail price of $79.99.

And yes – of course we’ve got a trailer for that as well!

We have a LOT of ground to cover, and with Summer Games Fest kicking off in just a few days, so stay tuned. We’ll have plenty of news, previews, hands-on and reveals to share – we’re just getting started.

A cult classic gets some love with the Space Marine Master Crafted Edition, launching June 10

by admin May 22, 2025

After Space Marine 2 released to a supurb level of consumer and critical acclaim, it should be no shocker that the Space Marine Master Crafted Edition has just been announced during the Warhammer Skulls event.

This game is coming from SEGA and Sneakybox, the latter responsible for a sweep of modern additions like 4K resolution, updated controls, improved models and enhanced audio. In the press release sent out alongside this announcement, Sneaky Box producer Vaidas Mikelskas states it is more of “a thoughtful restoration” than a technical upgrade.

This modern recreation of the cult classic comes with all the original modes, including the campaign and PvE / PvP multiplayer. What’s particularly interesting with this new and improved version of the game is that the Orks are getting a special touch up. The faction has new models and over 100 new voice lines, which sounds great of course, granted Warboss Grimskull keeps all his fantastic quips.

Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine is one of those games that has carved a place in people’s hearts for years, and given that we’re now in a real golden age of both Space Marine love and Warhammer 40K passion in general, in makes sense we’d get a touched-up version of the classic on modern platforms. Plus, you won’t have to pay full price for it either! The game will be sold for €39.99 or your regional equivilent, or downloadable on Game Pass for the subscription fee.

Are you going to dive into this new and improved version of Space Marine? Let us know below!

Why Solana Mobile Is Launching a Token Alongside Its New Android Phone

by admin May 21, 2025

In brief

  • The Solana Seeker smartphone will begin shipping worldwide on August 4.
  • The second-gen Android phone comes with new features that build upon the foundation of the original Saga device.
  • Solana Mobile also introduced a new token, SKR, which will become the primary asset of its decentralized mobile ecosystem.

The second-generation Solana mobile phone, the Solana Seeker, will begin shipping worldwide on August 4, Solana Mobile announced on Wednesday—with plans for a native ecosystem token, SKR.

The more affordable, Android-based Seeker phone will maintain the Solana Saga’s genesis token and hardware seed vault, while adding newer features such as SeekerID, the SeedVault Wallet, and an improved Solana Dapp Store.

“We spent the last few years focused on building what we think is the best possible crypto mobile experience,” Solana Mobile GM Emmett Hollyer told Decrypt. “We focused on usability, we’ve focused on security, we’ve focused on giving developers distribution. What we’re doing with this is we’re extending what’s possible, we’re decentralizing it, and we’re growing it with additional devices from other original equipment manufacturers in the future.”

2/ The Solana Mobile platform is growing — opening the door to more devices & more manufacturers — all powered by a decentralized architecture and economy.

Mobile users everywhere deserve a seamless, secure web3 experience — and we’ll be making it easy for OEMs to come onboard.

— Seeker | Solana Mobile (@solanamobile) May 21, 2025

The future, decentralized Solana Mobile ecosystem will be rooted in SKR, the native ecosystem token that will live on Solana’s layer-1 blockchain. He said that the token is designed to anchor a “future of a decentralized mobile platform” around the crypto phones.

But why not just use the existing Solana (SOL) coin?

“We see an opportunity to coordinate growth and change, and we want to make sure that the decisions that are made there are aligned around something that is fundamental to the mobile ecosystem, something that’s purely aligned with that ecosystem and its outcomes,” Hollyer said, adding that it’s critical that SKR be “solely representative of the Solana Mobile platform—and that’s it.”

Specific details about the token launch and how it will be earned have not yet been shared, but the Solana Mobile website indicates that SKR will go “directly to builders and users for ecosystem participation.”

“The token itself is bigger than any one device,” said Hollyer, noting that both the Saga and Seeker and any future devices brought into the Solana Mobile ecosystem will be able to participate in the economy, incentives, and ownership of the platform.

“We want to make sure that everybody who has joined the ecosystem so far comes along for the ride,” he said.

Aside from the token, the Seeker’s new infrastructure architecture is set to differentiate the device and Solana Mobile from today’s leading mobile device companies, opening its ecosystem and expanding its platform to allow additional hardware manufacturers.

“If you look at the existing mobile platform architectures, they are entirely closed. Whoever runs the platform, they manage everything,” said Hollyer. “Our goal is to build something that accomplishes a lot of the same critical outcomes that existing mobile platforms do well, things like trust, things like security… but we want to do that in a way that is decentralized.”

Therefore Solana Mobile introduced TEEPIN, a three-layer architecture model that allows ecosystem actors to participate in a secure and trustless way.

“TEEPIN represents the next evolution in mobile—a framework where trust isn’t granted by a central authority but verified through cryptography,” said Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder and CEO of Solana Labs, in a statement. “By leveraging secure hardware that already exists on modern smartphones and governing access on-chain, we’re unlocking open innovation, platform ownership, and a decentralized future for mobile.”

With TEEPIN and Solana Mobile’s future decentralized ecosystem, Hollyer said that means builders don’t need to worry about app store rules and fees—and they can be sure their users are real.

The Seeker, which has earned more than 150,000 pre-orders, is still available for pre-order at $500 plus tax, for a limited time according to the Solana Mobile website. It arrives at half the launch price of the original Saga, but with various updates and apparent improvements over the model released in 2023.

“Our emphasis is on making the best possible crypto experience,” said Hollyer. “We think mobile is the way to do it, and we don’t think anybody’s cracked that code yet.”
