EA knows Battlefield 6’s settings menu was a mess in beta, and ‘it’s probably still going to be a little clunky when we launch’

by admin August 28, 2025

As simple and mundane as they are, there’s an art behind making a good menu, and sadly, the Battlefield 6 beta missed the mark in that regard. The menus felt designed for controllers over mouse and keyboard, though even that felt remarkably clunky. It’s a shame, considering the interface in previous Battlefield games has been just fine on both consoles and PC.

If you needed to tweak something during a match, you’d be faffing around for way longer than you’d have liked, thanks to the many layers and tabs you had to sift through. Having a lot of options to mess around with can be a good thing (I love the new Very Aggressive Listening setting), but it also makes it a pain to actually find what you’re looking for.

Likewise, the ‘Netflix UI’ style of the main menu and class customisation made simple things like searching for a specific mode or changing your weapon a chore. In fact, it even sparked some conspiracy theories during the beta, as players felt the classic closed-weapons playlists were being intentionally buried, which Battlefield Studios had to quickly shut down.

Related articles

Fear not, though, as Battlefield 6’s menus are getting a touch-up prior to release. In an interview with PC Gamer, Battlefield Studios’ technical director Christian Bruhl explains that the team is “looking at [the] feedback” around the menus and making a few changes.

“I can’t say exactly what we’ll fix. You know, we’re not going to rebuild our menu from scratch, obviously, between now and launch, but we are looking to improve [based on] some of the biggest feedback.”

Bruhl goes on to admit that “it’s probably still going to be a little bit clunky when we launch, but we’re going to continue to improve it going forward.”

If I had to guess, it’ll likely be the settings menu that sees the biggest changes, with smaller (nonetheless welcome) tweaks elsewhere, as the main menus’ streaming service look seems very much baked-in and would surely require more extensive work. Nevertheless, I hope that’s something we see eventually, as I’d rather not struggle with UI just to change my loadout.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

These improvements come alongside a number of other sweeping changes based on beta feedback that were revealed last week, such as nerfs to movement and tweaks to weapon handling, as well as fixes for key bugs like ‘super bullets’ that plagued the beta. All in all, I’d say it was a successful playtest for all involved: we got to play BF6 early and voice feedback, and EA got a massive win ahead of Black Ops 7’s deflating reveal.

Play Solana To Launch First Handheld Gaming Console In October

by admin August 27, 2025

The Solana ecosystem is taking a leap into hardware with the forthcoming launch of its first handheld gaming console.

Play Solana, a project dedicated to building a Web3 gaming device on the Solana blockchain, announced that it will start shipping its Play Solana Gen 1 (PSG1) device on Oct. 6.

The device comes with gaming-ready specs, including an octa-core ARM processor, 8 gigabytes of RAM, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity and a touch LCD display. It also includes a built-in hardware wallet and fingerprint authentication, allowing users to store crypto assets while playing games.

It also launched a limited non-fungible token (NFT) collection that allows a group of 2,000 holders to have early access and other ecosystem perks.

Solana dives deeper into physical products

The launch comes as the Solana ecosystem continues to push deeper into consumer-facing products, following earlier experiments such as the Saga smartphone.

In 2022, Solana Mobile, a subsidiary of Solana Labs, introduced Saga, an Android-based, blockchain-focused smartphone.

It gave users access to native Web3 tools like a Seed Vault, the Solana Mobile Stack and a decentralized applications (DApp) store tailored for Solana ecosystem participants.

The Saga introduction triggered mixed reactions from community members, but ultimately saw a successful launch in 2023, causing a frenzy among users.

In 2023, the product fetched up to $5,000 on eBay as the phone came with a free airdrop of the BONK memecoin. The phone had an original $599 price tag on the Solana Mobile website.

In 2024, Solana Mobile unveiled a second-generation mobile phone, saying it would not just be a “memecoin phone.”

In 2025, the phone had 150,000 pre-orders, with revenue estimated to be at $67.5 million. On Aug. 5, Solana Mobile said it started shipping the Seeker phone in over 50 countries.

Web3 gets handheld gaming devices

Apart from Play Solana’s PSG1, blockchain network Sui also dived into physical Web3 gaming devices.

In 2024, Sui blockchain creator Mysten Labs said it would deliver SuiPlay0X1, a handheld gaming device integrated to the Sui network in the first half of 2025.

Thailand Selects KuCoin for Groundbreaking Tokenized Bond Launch

Thailand Selects KuCoin for Groundbreaking Tokenized Bond Launch

by admin August 27, 2025

Thailand is moving forward with its tokenized bond program and has enlisted KuCoin as the lead crypto exchange for the initiative.

Summary

  • Thailand has selected KuCoin as the lead exchange for its G-Token initiative, the country’s first tokenized government bond program.
  • The exchange will manage subscriptions, redemptions, and secondary trading in partnership with XSpring Digital, Krungthai XSpring, and SIX Network.
  • KuCoin launched its Thai platform earlier this year, becoming one of the country’s regulated exchanges.

Crypto exchange Kucoin has been selected as the first platform supporting the tokenized bond initiative by the Thailand government. According to an official August 27 release, the Thailand arm of the exchange will join the consortium supporting the G-Token initiative, the country’s new tokenized government bond.

KuCoin will oversee subscriptions, redemptions, and secondary trading, alongside partners like XSpring Digital, Krungthai XSpring, and SIX Network, while also providing advisory support to the Public Debt Management Office.

The move follows Thailand’s cabinet approval of the G-Token framework under the Public Debt Management Act in May. The program is designed to modernize public fundraising, expand retail access to government bonds leveraging blockchain technology.

Upon the initial rollout, the token will be limited to local exchanges, with the potential to list on global platforms like KuCoin later, subject to regulatory approval.

KuCoin’s involvement reflects its status as one of the country’s licensed exchanges. The company launched KuCoin Thailand in June after acquiring and rebranding ERX, the country’s first regulated exchange, making it one of nine platforms approved by the Thai SEC.

CEO Johnny Lyu said in the release, “We are honored to support Thailand’s historic G-Token project, which demonstrates the power of blockchain in sovereign finance and reinforces our commitment to regulated markets”.

What is Thailand’s tokenized bond program?

Thailand’s G-Token is a blockchain-based version of government bonds, issued directly under the Public Debt Management Act. The Ministry of Finance confirmed that the first issuance will total 5 billion baht, or $150 million, with principal and interest fully backed by the state.

The key feature is accessibility. Unlike traditional Thai government bonds that often require higher minimum investments, G-Token can be purchased starting at just 100 baht, around $3. This makes sovereign debt available to retail investors at scale, directly through licensed exchanges like KuCoin Thailand.

The program matters because it brings tokenization into the core of public finance. Transactions, ownership, and transfers of the bonds will be recorded on blockchain rails, offering transparency and settlement speed that conventional bond markets lack. Compared with pilots in Hong Kong and Singapore that focused on institutions, the Thailand government is going directly to retail investors, making G-Token one of the first sovereign digital bonds designed for mass adoption.

By adopting digital bonds, Thailand is positioning itself as a regional leader in financial technology, showing how blockchain can strengthen public finance while maintaining regulatory oversight. The first G-Token issuance will serve as a pilot phase, with the potential for future expansions depending on investor demand.

The G-Token launch is part of a broader push to embrace the digital asset class by the current Thai administration.

Thailand’s crypto stance

Thailand is one of the leading pro-crypto countries in Asia, building a regulatory framework that blends investor protection with support for innovation. The government recently announced a five-year exemption on capital gains tax for crypto transactions, aiming to boost tax revenue and position the country as a global digital asset hub.

Other initiatives include the launch of a “TouristDigiPay” initiative earlier this month, which allows foreign travelers to exchange digital assets for Thai currency through regulated electronic payment channels.

The G-token initiative underscores how tokenization is moving from pilot projects into national financial infrastructure. With KuCoin as its lead exchange partner, Thailand is betting that blockchain can make government bonds more accessible and more efficient, setting a precedent that other governments may soon follow.

What The LEASH V2 Launch Means For Shiba Inu Holders

by admin August 26, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

The Shiba Inu development team has officially rolled out LEASH v2, a new version of the ecosystem’s exclusive token designed to correct a long-standing supply controversy. Over the past week, LEASH holders expressed growing concerns after a hidden rebase path in the original contract unexpectedly increased supply, resulting in a 20%+ dilution from the 107,646 baseline. This prompted swift action from the current Shiba Inu developers, and LEASH v2 is both a corrective measure and an opportunity to restore community confidence.

LEASH v2 Brings A Hard-Capped Supply

According to Shiba Inu marketing lead Lucie, the most important change in LEASH v2 is the permanent fix to supply manipulation risks. Posting on the social media platform X, she explained that after migration, LEASH v2 will have a fixed, hard-capped supply of 107,000, exactly as originally designed. No new rebasing, no hidden minting functions. This is a clean slate contract. This means token holders no longer need to worry about accidental inflations or hidden vulnerabilities undermining the scarcity and value of LEASH.

The issue stemmed from a rebase function left in the original contract by a departed developer five years ago, which went unnoticed until the recent glitch. The team documented those mechanics and presented the community with a DAO-led route forward of migrating to a fixed-supply, audited LEASH v2 using the last trusted snapshot.

That plan also outlines the burn-to-claim  model, where holders destroy the old token to claim the new one. After moving to a fully immutable and audited contract, the team has effectively sealed off this risk, turning LEASH v2 into a more trustworthy representation of what the token was always intended to be.

According to the Shiba Inu blog website, the v2 total supply is pre‑minted at deployment and held by a multisig. The migrator will not mint new LEASH v2 tokens but will move pre‑minted tokens out of the multisig as users migrate from LEASH v1.

What Does This Mean For Holders?

LEASH v2 affects only LEASH. Other tokens (SHIB and BONE) within the Shiba Inu ecosystem remain untouched. If the migration proceeds smoothly, with audits concluded, exchanges aligned, and burn-to-claim portals functioning, LEASH v2 will become a straightforward case of resetting the clock.

A prominent Shibarium insights account on X pointed out that the team is working with an external auditor. The Shiba Inu team is also in talks with crypto exchanges to support the swap and will stage a public testnet and bug bounty before full release. The rollout has been largely welcomed across the Shiba Inu community, with supportive reactions surfacing on multiple social platforms.

At the time of writing, LEASH is trading at $52.40, down by 8% in the past 24 hours.

Here’s When You Can Skip Work for the iPhone 17 Launch Event

by admin August 26, 2025

The iPhone 17 is coming. The iPhone 17 is coming! Well, technically, four iPhone 17 devices are reportedly coming on Tuesday, Sept. 9. That’s when Apple will announce a family of new devices, including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, and iPhone 17—phones that have been leaking out for the better part of the last year.

Apple sent the following invite to Gizmodo:

iPhone 17 event confirmed for Sept. 9. See ya there! pic.twitter.com/VTJOjYfZYE

— Ray Wong (@raywongy) August 26, 2025

The invite reads “Awe dropping.” Is Apple teasing the orange iPhone 17 Pro? And a maybe a new blue color?

Expected Product Announcements

Apple’s annual fall event, which will once again be held at Apple Park in Cupertino, CA, will also be where the company is expected to announce new Apple Watches (Series 11 and Ultra 3), new AirPods (Pro 3?), and a slew of new features for all of the new devices. If it’s like past years, Tim Cook and pals should also give us release dates for when we can officially install the non-beta releases for Liquid Glass. That includes iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26 Tahoe, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26.

There’s gonna be a truckload of Apple announcements on Sept. 9. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are rumored to get even thicker with the biggest camera bump (housing a new 48-megapixel telephoto camera) that Apple has ever put into an iPhone. We may also see a new orange color for the iPhone 17 Pros. The iPhone 16 Plus will almost certainly die this year, and its replacement will likely be the “iPhone 17 Air,” a new, super-thin glass slab with a single camera and possibly reduced battery life due to its skinny frame.

On the accessories and wearables front, we’re anticipating modest updates to the Apple Watch Series 10, maybe a bigger screen (but not a bigger case) for the Apple Watch Ultra 3, and we could see live translations rolled out to AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 with or without a new AirPods Pro 3 announcement.

Gizmodo Live Blog

The leaks have been steady, and many of them have come from reputable sources with solid track records. But you know what they say, nothing is official until it comes straight from the horse’s mouth. So clear your calendar and maybe sell a kidney now (please don’t do that!) cause Apple’s fall gadget bonanza is only a few weeks away.

The only thing for certain that you can count on happening on Sept. 9 is a live blog. Just like we did with last week’s “Made by Google” event for Pixel 10, Samsung’s Unpacked for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, and Apple’s WWDC and Google’s I/O developer conferences this past summer, we’ll be live-blogging the Apple Event.

Apple will be streaming its event on its website at Apple.com and YouTube here, but I promise Gizmodo’s live blog will be more entertaining. It’s also the only place where I’ll reveal the breakfast spread that Apple’s gonna serve to the media. That’s important stuff!

New Harlowe short graces the Borderlands 4 lead up to launch

by admin August 26, 2025

We saw the first drop on Harlowe last week, and Gearbox keeps adding more flavor to an already delicious Borderlands 4 soup. Today, the team released a character short, which should be amongst the final pieces of intel before launch. Check it out below.

2K and Gearbox Software have shared the Official Character Short for Harlowe the Gravitar, the final entry in an ongoing series about the four all-new Vault Hunters who are wreaking havoc on Kairos in Borderlands 4!

Harlowe is a former Maliwan combat scientist, driven by the need to understand how things work. While this initially made her an outcast amongst her Traunt relatives, Harlowe has used her intellect to bring new tech and gadgetry to the battlefield as a Vault Hunter. Harlowe’s brilliance is apparent in everything she does, but so is her enthusiasm and love for life. Harlowe brings everything to the fight, including her sunny disposition.

In Harlowe’s new Character Short “Family Reunion”, you can watch as Harlowe the Gravitar takes on the Maliwan corporation to reclaim technology she designed, and ends up encountering a Traunt family member in the process.

Borderlands 4 launches worldwide on September 12, 2025 via PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. It will also be coming to Nintendo Switch™ 2 on October 3, 2025, and is now available for pre-order on all platforms!

SpaceX is about to launch Starship for its 10th test flight

by admin August 24, 2025

SpaceX’s massive Starship rocket is scheduled to lift off from the company’s Texas launch site as soon as this evening for its 10th flight. The launch window opens at 7:30PM ET (6:30PM CT). As always, the flight test will be livestreamed on the SpaceX website and on X, with a webcast starting 30 minutes before launch. The weather is looking iffy for launch, though, so don’t be surprised if this one gets postponed; SpaceX said on Saturday that conditions were looking only 45 percent favorable. According to Space.com, the company has backup opportunities on August 25 and 26.

Flight 10 follows a series of failures this year during SpaceX’s seventh, eighth and ninth test flights. And in June, a Starship vehicle exploded on the ground during preparations for a static fire test of its six Raptor engines. If all goes according to plan for Flight 10, Starship will deploy eight dummy Starlink satellites and perform “several experiments focused on enabling Starship’s upper stage to return to the launch site.” It won’t actually be returning to the launch site this time, though. The test is expected to last a little over an hour, and end with a splashdown in the Indian Ocean.

Silksong's Launch Has Already Caused One Game Delay

Silksong’s Launch Has Already Caused One Game Delay

by admin August 23, 2025

And…there we go! It’s officially Friday, folks. I’m filling in for Ethan, who should have written today’s edition, so if you prefer his take on Morning Checkpoint, well, sorry, you have to deal with me. This morning, we learn about Double Fine’s future, get ready to watch a weird Fortnite stream, check out what’s up with Black Ops 7‘s campaign, and catalog the first game to run away from Silksong‘s September launch. Oh and here’s a trailer for a movie that looks like Jaws, but set during the Second World War. Enjoy?

Aeterna Lucis is delaying its launch to avoid Silksong

Yesterday, after many years of waiting, we finally got a release date for Silksong. It’s arriving next month, and one game is already throwing in the towel and delaying its launch to avoid the indie superstar sequel. On Friday, the devs behind Aeterna Lucis announced that the game was being pushed back from a planned September launch to sometime in 2026, partly because of Silksong and partly because they lack all the dev kits needed for a release on “next-gen” platforms.

pic.twitter.com/CUomiRcsZU

— Aeternum Game Studios (@aeternathegame) August 22, 2025

“Our initial plan was to launch [Aeterna Lucis] this September,” said the devs in a statement. “But after the announcement of Silksong, we are fully aware that our game wouldn’t have the visibility it deserves. Competing with a phenomenon of that scale would not only be unfair to our team’s effort, but also to you, the community, who expect to experience this adventure under the best possible conditions.”

Double Fine isn’t working on Brutal Legend 2 or any other sequels

Keeper, Double Fine’s next game, looks great! It comes after a big gap following the company’s last game, Psychonauts 2. If you’re worried that, after Keeper‘s release, you’ll be waiting a while again for more Double Fine goodness, take heart: the studio’s founder and boss, Tim Schafer, says that Double Fine is working on multiple projects at the moment. But, if you were hoping for a Brutal Legend 2 or Psychonauts 3, well, I’m sorry to say that ain’t happening anytime soon.

“I’m working on other stuff,” Schafer told IGN. “The studio is doing multiple projects right now and they’re all original IPs, because we did Psychonauts 2 and that will hold us for sequels for a while.”

The alleged mother of one of Elon Musk’s kids will be on a Fortnite stream

I don’t have much to add to this other than that we live in a very strange world.

Call of Duty Black Ops 7 is ditching campaign difficulty levels

The latest Call of Duty is making some big changes to the series’ handling of campaigns. Black Ops 7‘s will support co-op, and there will be a rogue-like endgame included with it. Another big change? Black Ops 7 won’t feature the franchise’s usual difficulty levels, like Veteran or Hardened. Instead, as developers, Treyarch explained to IGN, the studio is using co-op to balance the game. The more players you include in the action, the harder things get. It’s an interesting change, though I wonder how more casual players hopping in to play with a friend might handle getting their ass kicked over and over again and having no way to make things easier.

VanEck Files to Launch ETF With Jito’s Liquid-Staked Solana Tokens

by admin August 23, 2025

In brief

  • VanEck filed on Friday a proposal for an exchange-traded fund tracking the price of JitoSOL.
  • The U.S. SEC earlier this month determined that liquid-staking tokens are not securities, clearing a path to putting them in ETF wrappers.
  • The filing comes as investor demand for staked crypto ETFs increases.

VanEck submitted an application to the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission for a JitoSOL exchange-traded fund, as investor interest in staked crypto ETFs continues to expand.

The ETF will track the price of JitoSOL, a kind of Solana liquid-staking token, or a tokenized asset that serves as a stand-in for an asset that has already been staked on a network.

Staking refers to the process of locking up cryptocurrencies on a blockchain to secure the network in exchange for rewards, usually in the form of tokens.

Today, @vaneck_us filed an S-1 for a @jito_sol ETF.

Why is this important?

A JitoSOL ETF offers the highest possible yield for investors, as 100% of the fund earns staking rewards with the lowest fees. The ETF can be created and redeemed in-kind, so redemptions can be…

— Thomas Uhm (@ThomasUhm) August 22, 2025

“With staff guidance now on record, the compliance runway for LST-based ETFs/ETPs is clear and actionable, and has resulted in the first ETF [composed] of LSTs,” the Jito Foundation said Friday in a blog post.

The JitoSOL fund marks the first proposed spot Solana ETF to receive 100% backing from a liquid-staking token, according to the Jito Foundation’s statement.

The filing comes as regulators have loosened their restrictions on the cryptocurrency, particularly when it comes to the classification of staking-based activities. In May and August, the SEC ruled that both protocol and liquid staking do not qualify as securities transactions—a determination that enables their inclusion in ETFs.

“That clarity opens a compliant path for ETF sponsors to use LSTs,” a Jito Foundation representative said in the post.

The Securities Commission also voted in July to green-light in-kind creations and redemptions for crypto ETFs.

This latest application from VanEck also comes just a few weeks after issuer REX-Osprey integrated staking rewards into its Solana ETF via a partnership with JitoSOL.

Solana was trading at $199 as of writing time, up nearly 10% in the past 24 hours, according to data provider CoinGecko.

VanEck Files to Launch Staked Solana (SOL) ETF Backed by Liquid Staking Token JitoSOL

by admin August 22, 2025

Asset manager VanEck has filed to launch a staked solana SOL$199.71 exchange-traded fund (ETF), signaling continued interest in bringing blockchain-native yield-bearing assets to traditional investment rails.

The application, submitted Friday as an S-1 registration with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), is the first of two filings required to list the fund. If approved, the ETF would hold JitoSOL, a liquid staking token native to the Solana blockchain. JitoSOL reflects ownership of SOL tokens that have been staked and also accrues the staking rewards earned by those tokens.

Unlike traditional ETFs, this product would not just track the price of SOL but also the income generated by staking — effectively baking Solana’s yield into a publicly traded product.

The SEC has been in ongoing discussions with ETF providers, including VanEck, about whether staking components can be integrated into existing and proposed crypto investment funds.

Regulatory bottlenecks

Speaking at an industry panel in Jackson Hole earlier this week, SEC Chair Paul Atkins said the Commission is looking to clear regulatory bottlenecks that slow innovation.

“There’s a lot of spring cleaning that needs to be done at the SEC,” he said. “We cannot have things so abstruse that lawyers can’t give opinions to clients.”

Atkins said the agency’s future rules should be flexible and designed to evolve. He added that the SEC wants to continue its legacy of adapting to new technologies, hinting at a more open stance toward crypto asset products like liquid staking ETFs.

VanEck joins a number of asset managers looking to launch a staked solana fund, including Fidelity, Grayscale and Franklin Templeton.
