Epic pulls controversial Peacemaker dance emote from Fortnite following big twist in the TV show’s latest episode

by admin September 29, 2025

Epic has pulled a Peacemaker dance emote from battle royale Fortnite, after the latest episode of the TV show proves just how controversial that dance is.

Spoiler warning for Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6

The Peaceful Hips emote was added to Fortnite earlier this month, which features John Cena’s character hip-thrusting and holding his arms in rigid 90 degree angles.

Now, though, it’s been removed, with refunds likely to be issued in the next few days. “We’re disabling the Peaceful Hips Emote in Fortnite as we inquire into our partner’s creative intentions in this collab emote,” reads a social post from Fortnite. “Assuming it’s not coming back, we’ll issue refunds in the next few days. Sorry folks.”

Why so controversial? Well it turns out, as revealed in the latest episode, Peacemaker has been living in an alternate dimension where Nazis won World War 2 and the American flag’s stars have been swapped for swastika.

And looking at the dance emote in retrospect, yeah, it’s pretty obviously imitating swastika.

What’s most remarkable about this is that Warner Bros. agreed on the collaboration with Epic, but seemingly didn’t forewarn them of the emote’s true meaning. Perhaps they were worried about spoilers leaking ahead of the episode airing last week.

Peacemaker writer and director James Gunn posted earlier this month about Peacemaker’s inclusion in Fortnite, adding “check out his bundle, complete with Peacemaker’s best friend Eagly and a peace-spreading, hip-swaying emote or two ;)” – that winky face is doing a lot of heavy lifting here.

Nobody wants nazi symbolism in their kid-friendly battle royale, but it’s not just the TV show’s viewers who have been duped by a big twist.

Could this impact any future collaborations between Epic and Warner Bros.? Eurogamer has contacted Epic to find out.

Leaks have suggested Sonic and Shadow will be headed to Fortnite in some form soon, though hopefully will prove less controversial.

MrBeast Promises Latest Grotesque YouTube Stunt Was Completely Safe

by admin September 29, 2025

The latest YouTube video stunt by one James “MrBeast” Donaldson has already wracked up over 46 million views in just one day and it’s not hard to imagine why. Titled “Would You Risk Dying For $500,000?” it shows a series of challenges in which people brave flame-engulfed obstacles in exchange for money. It’s kind of like David Blaine if, instead of doing absurd and wild stuff himself, he paid other people to do it while also explaining how it was all incredibly fake and just for grim lulz.

The infernal trap that’s been drawing the most attention is one in which a stuntman is tied to a chair inside a “burning house” and has to escape and save as much money as he can from inside the house in order to earn the highest cash prize possible. Donaldson bounces back and forth between urgent warnings about how real the flames are and mugging the camera with jokes about MrBeast product placement. The entertainment concept is more grotesquely mundane than anything Phillip K. Dick could have imagined and also, clearly, highly entertaining to millions of people.

This blew up, if you’re curious obviously we had ventilation for the smoke and a kill switch to cut off the fires. We had professionals test this extensively and the guy in the video as stated is a professional stunt man. I take safety more serious than you could ever imagine.

— MrBeast (@MrBeast) September 29, 2025

Donaldson defended his uniquely gifted intuition for creating the debased content people crave by promising the whole stunt was tested with professionals multiple times, responding to viral posts about the stunt with additional context. The last thing Donaldson needs after lawsuits last year over alleged safety violations on his Amazon Prime show is people thinking he doesn’t take the premise of potentially roasting another human being alive for less than the median home price after taxes seriously.

“We had professionals test this extensively and the guy in the video as stated is a professional stunt man,” he wrote on X over the weekend. “I take safety more serious than you could ever imagine.” He expanded on the setup in a comment on the YouTube video as well.

Content creators tend to think any spectacle is defensible if they can say health and safety concerns have been attended to behind the scenes, but that’s not really it imho. Mr. Beast’s whole thing is that his subjects’ desperation for cash allows him—a wealthier person—to indulge his sadism.

— southpaw (@nycsouthpaw.bsky.social) 2025-09-29T12:45:09.235Z

“In case there’s any concern about the safety of the stuntman contestant, I just wanted to mention that we take safety extremely seriously,” he added. “Every challenge was tested by multiple stuntmen, we have a full rescue team on standby with firefighters, EMTs and divers equipped with an ambulance and fire truck. We also had a pyro team controlling the fires and multiple fire suppression methods on every challenge to ensure we could essentially turn off the fire if there was ever an issue. But our stunt coordinator did an amazing job as always, and none of these systems were ever needed. Just wanted to be transparent with you all since I saw some concern!”

This is the Catch-22 at the heart of this entire genre of extremely watchable algorithm-bait. Either the entire thing is so real and authentic that it’s an absolutely monstrous thing for everyone involved to be associated with and signals the utter depravity of modern capitalism, or the stunt is all so fake and performative that none of it matters and you’ve been conned out of 25 minutes of your week just so some guy can hock candy bars.

Either way, it kinda sucks!

Borderlands 4’s latest update aims to deliver more performance fixes, ends up causing more stuttering for some

by admin September 28, 2025

Another day, another Borderlands 4 update aiming to smooth out more of the performance problems which have plagued the looter shooter since launch, especially on PC. Unfortuntely, this latest patch looks to have led to an uptick in stuttering for some players, with Gearbox recommending some shader messing around as a potential fix.

In fairness to the studio, you can’t say they haven’t been working hard to get Borderlands 4 running a bit more smoothly since problems in that department became apparent, with this being the third post-launch patch targeting performance in the past couple of weeks. One of them was confusingly noteless, but hey.

Anyway, this one has notes, and delving into them you’ll find a few tweaks to weekly activities being granted top billing before things descend into fix territory. The weekly big encore boss has been swapped to a tougher version of another existing boss and will offer more loot. The weekly wildcard mission’s changed and Maurice’s Black Market Vending Machine has been moved.

In terms of fixes, Gearbox cited the rectifying of “various instances of hitching, low FPS, and crashes” as well as “infinite loading screens during crossplay”. Characters should also load up faster in menus, and their animations have been updated to match the fixes. Sadly, it seems that the update’s actually led some players to experience more performance problems, with Gearbox acknowledging this in a follow-up tweet.

“Stuttering issues should resolve over time as the shaders continue to compile in the background while playing,” they wrote. “If you’re still experiencing issues after 15 minutes of continuous play, you can also clear your shader cache via your video card manufacturer’s approved method.” If problems persist, you’ll have to file a support ticket.

That aside, studio have also made some changes to rewards and progression with this update, plus some minor tweaks to individual vault hunters. On top of that, there’s a bit of gear balancing, with the tweaks as follows:

  • Hellwalker: now always spawns with Fire element
  • Tediore weapons: +10% Damage and +10% magazine size
  • Order Pistol Lucky Clover (Rocket Reload): increased fire rate
  • Order Sniper Rifle Fisheye: increased Damage

Borderlands 4 creative director Graeme Timmins has revealed in a tweet that the game’s next patch’ll be much heavier on the balancing tweaks. “As a note, we had too many Vault Hunter buffs to safely fit into today’s big update,” he wrote. “Instead, we broke up them into their own balance update that we’re targeting to release early next week instead.”

Here’s hoping that Gearbox can get their shooty thing running nicely soon, especially since yapping CEO Randy Pitchford thankfully looks to have stopped giving impromptu setup advice on the socials. As for the game itself, Jasmine Mannan gave it a go for us and generally liked what these four bordered lands had to offer.

Apple is reportedly nearing production for its latest M5-powered MacBooks

by admin September 28, 2025

The latest Apple silicon is about to hit the assembly lines, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman. In the latest Power On newsletter, Gurman said that Apple “is nearing mass production of its next MacBook Pros, MacBook Airs and two new Mac monitors.” Gurman added that these upgraded products are scheduled for release sometime between the end of this year and the first quarter of next year.

Earlier this year, Gurman noted that Apple was expected to start production on the M5 MacBook Pro during the second half of 2025. All signs seem to point toward Apple following its typical release schedule, where the latest MacBook Pro makes its fall debut, followed by the reveal of the upgraded MacBook Air in the spring. However, Gurman previously mentioned in a July edition of his newsletter that “Apple is now internally targeting a launch early next year” for the MacBook Pro instead.

Beyond the upcoming MacBooks, we’re expecting one of the two Mac monitors to be the upgraded Studio Display. First released in March 2022, Apple’s Studio Display could use a refresh, which some rumors say will include a mini-LED display, along with overall improvements to brightness and color quality.

Pixel Buds Pro 2 get Adaptive Audio, gesture controls and more in latest update

by admin September 27, 2025

Google first teased some enticing upgrades for its Pixel Buds Pro 2 during the Made by Google event in August. More than a month later, Google is finally rolling out the update that makes its wireless earbuds earn the Pro label.

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 now get an Adaptive Audio feature in the Active Noise Control section of the Pixel Buds app. This ANC mode automatically adjusts the volume depending on your surrounding environment, balancing between hearing your music or podcasts and the world around you. If you want to drown out the outside world a little more, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 now also have the Loud Noise Protection feature, which can detect and reduce any sudden loud noises, like a passing ambulance siren or construction work. While these two features are already found in Apple’s AirPods Pro 3, they’re a welcome addition to the more affordable Pixel Buds Pro 2.

For anyone who frequently uses Gemini Live, you’ll notice that the AI assistant will be able to hear you better in noisy environments thanks to advanced audio processing that prioritizes your voice and eliminates background noise. For a truly hands-free experience, the update even adds gesture controls that let Pixel Buds Pro 2 users nod their head to answer a call or start dictation for a text reply and shake their head to decline a call or dismiss a text. Google is rolling out its 4.467 update to its users gradually, which takes about 10 minutes to download and another 10 minutes to install.

Kraken Secures $500 Million In Latest Funding Round, Boosting Valuation To $15B

by admin September 27, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

US-based cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, has successfully closed a $500 million funding round, achieving a valuation of $15 billion, as reported by Fortune. This significant milestone comes as the company gears up for its anticipated initial public offering (IPO), which is expected to take place next year.

Kraken’s Valuation Rises To $15 Billion

In July, The Information reported on Kraken’s intentions to raise this substantial amount, and recent updates confirm that the funding round was finalized this month without a primary investor.

Instead, Kraken set the terms of the deal, including the valuation figure. Among the contributors to this funding round were various investment managers and venture capitalists, notably including the exchange co-CEO Arjun Sethi’s Tribe Capital, as well as Sethi himself in a personal capacity.

This latest valuation marks a notable increase from the $11 billion the exchange reached in 2022, when it raised an undisclosed sum. Kraken has demonstrated strong financial performance in recent years, reporting $1.5 billion in revenue for 2024, with an additional $472 million generated in the first quarter of 2025.

Currently, the exchange handles an impressive daily trading volume of $1.37 billion, making it the second largest in the United States after Coinbase (COIN), which already went public back in April, 2021.

Crypto IPO Boom

The crypto landscape has experienced a notable shift this year, as investor sentiment has evolved from a period of exuberance in 2021 to a more cautious approach.

However, the appetite for public offerings among crypto firms has resurged, driven by favorable regulatory developments. This shift has sparked a wave of IPO activity in the cryptocurrency sector with Circle (CRLC), and Bullish (BLSH), capitalizing on the rising interest toward crypto stocks.

In addition to its funding success, Kraken is aggressively expanding its services beyond traditional cryptocurrencies. The company has ventured into tokenized stocks, positioning itself at the forefront of this emerging market.

Furthermore, it recently acquired the US-regulated retail futures trading platform NinjaTrader for $1.5 billion, with plans to extend its reach into the UK, Europe, and Australia.

Earlier in the year, Kraken also acquired a Cyprus-based company to secure a Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) license, enabling it to offer derivatives across the European Economic Area (EEA).

On the political front, Kraken has committed to donating $2 million to two pro-crypto political action committees (PACs), reinforcing its dedication to advocating for privacy and innovation rights in the United States.

Co-CEO Arjun Sethi emphasized the ongoing battle for the future of cryptocurrency in the US, noting a significant shift in the political climate from “fear to understanding” throughout 2025.

The daily chart shows the total crypto market capitalization currently at $3.7 trillion. Source: TOTAL on TradingView.com

Petit Planet: Key details and latest news, summarized by humans

by admin September 26, 2025

It’s announcement after announcement with HoYoverse lately, and just on the heels of its Honkai: Nexus Anima reveal, the publisher has introduced Petit Planet. It’s a painfully cute, Animal Crossing-inspired life sim that takes yet another HoYo game setting to the stars. I’m beginning to sense a theme here.

From the looks of it, Petit Planet gives us all a little corner of the galaxy to decorate and nourish. Over time, new neighbors show up and shape the world with you. Their friendship impacts how your planet grows, and you’ll do all of the day-to-day basics like gardening, crafting, and decorating while seeing your little cosmic community thrive.

Petit Planet release date details and speculation

Does Petit Planet have a release date?

No, there’s no release date for Petit Planet yet. HoYoverse hasn’t even given us a general window yet, so all we can do is speculate and look at some of the developer’s historical timelines.

Its more recent games, like Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero, saw around two years between their first reveal trailers and their release dates. None of this is to say we’ve got a long wait for Petit Planet, but we’ve at least got some idea of HoYo’s typical cycle.

So what happened to Astaweave Haven? Is it Petit Planet?

Astaweave Haven was never officially announced, though a 2024 VG247 report highlights social media accounts registered in China suggesting that something could have existed with that name. Eagle-eyed fans on Reddit later spotted Astaweave accounts being renamed to Petit Planet, and nothing more came of the name Astaweave, so my assumption is that it was a temporary title they’ve since replaced.

How to get into the Petit Planet beta

HoYoverse announced a Petit Planet beta test as part of its big reveal, with sign-ups live on September 25, 2025. Last we checked, HoYoverse hadn’t confirmed a closing date, but registration for the developer’s recent Honkai: Nexus Anima beta remained open for almost two weeks.

  • Visit the Petit Planet official website and log in with your HoYoverse account
  • Select Beta Sign Up and complete the questionnaire
  • Note this isn’t the same thing as the Pre-Registration option

The questionnaire is a bit long, but the HoYoverse FAQ notes your only other way in is through lucking out and winning test access through community events. There’s no date for when Petit Planet’s beta begins, either, but keep an eye on your inbox in case HoYo gives you its blessing.

Is pre-registration for Petit Planet open?

Yes, you can pre-register for Petit Planet now through the same site. There’s no word yet on what rewards you’ll get for signing up early, but they’re typically a handful of goodies like in-game currency and other extra resources. Those freebies are typically just for those who go through the pre-registration process, so it may be too late to cash in if you wait until launch.

Petit Planet trailers

Petit Planet – Cozy Cosmos Trailer | Weave Your Dreams Beneath the Stars – YouTube

Watch On

The first Petit Planet trailer dropped in the midst of the 2025 Tokyo Game Show. If you’ve played a certain other cozy life sim from Nintendo, then HoYo’s project looks familiar. I probably shouted “oh my god, that’s like Animal Crossing!” after every few seconds. But I mean that in a good way—Animal Crossing is why I still own a Switch.

It certainly seems to come with all of the series staples, with clips showing off its neighborly woodland creatures, resource gathering, and socializing with other players. My only hope is that it brings us twists on Animal Crossing’s features, or explores some of them more deeply. If that interior scene around the 1:50 mark is any indication of how much I can customize my home, then count me in.

Petit Planet characters, setting, and gameplay

Every Petit Planet neighbor revealed so far

I reckon calling them villagers makes less sense since you get a whole planet to yourself, so

Petit Planet is calling its cute little guys neighbors. As you spruce up your world, neighbors “can connect their home planets” with yours, and you’ll deepen your friendship from there.

Befriending your neighbors is done through “daily activities to unlock deeper connections,” which involve gift giving, regular conversations, and distinct interactions. The few we’ve seen so far are cute as a button, but I’m crossing my fingers for more variance. Someone has got to deliver on the return of sassy Animal Crossing characters since Nintendo won’t do it.

Petit Planet’s official site names a few of its bigger personalities:

  • Yunguo (Cultivator)
  • Isaki (Battle Bee Trainer)
  • Medowlyn (Plushie Designer)
  • Frostia (Mystic Scholar)

I’m assuming some of the Petit Planet neighbors we see in its reveal trailer are a mixture of mainstay NPCs (think Tom Nook or Isabelle) and surprise residents (like those guys I hit with a net until they leave).

More Petit Planet features

It’s not all about making fuzzy friends. From HoYo’s first announcement and trailer, it looks like Petit Planet will sport many of the features seen in other life sims and all the life sim cousins like Hello Kitty Island Adventure or Disney Dreamlight Valley. Highlights include:

  • Activities like planting, fishing, mining, cook, crafting, and beachcombing
  • Decorating your own interiors and outdoor spaces
  • Collecting themed furniture
  • Exploration through a “Starsea Voyage” to discover new places and collectables
  • The “Galactic Bazaar” social hub where you can meet other players

Borderlands 4’s latest patch triggers a flurry of performance complaints, but Gearbox says new stuttering problems ‘should resolve over time as the shaders continue to compile’

by admin September 25, 2025

A new Borderlands 4 patch has gone live with an array of fixes, gameplay tweaks, and the big one, promises of improved performance and stability—sorely needed for a game that, despite its popularity, holds a “mixed” rating on Steam, largely because of sub-par performance. (For the record, our reviewer liked it quite a bit.) The update has sparked a new round of performance complaints, though, as quite a few players are reporting that instead of being improved, their in-game performance is worse than ever.

One of the less-great things about PC gaming is that the nigh-infinite number of potential hardware configurations means that somebody, somewhere, is always going to have problems with a new game launch or update. In this case, though, the problems seem fairly widespread, with reports of diminished frame rates and increased stuttering coming in on Steam, Reddit, and X alike.

Some users do say they’ve seen an improvement in frame rates, or at least that things are more or less the same. But, at least at this point, they seem easily outnumbered by players who say they’ve encountered the opposite effect. A few players have said clearing the shader cache might help clear up the problems, but it’s not clear whether that’s related to this new patch or just a catch-up to a known issue we talked about last week.

Related articles

Gearbox acknowledged the complaints a couple hours after the patch went live but indicated that there might not actually be any problems. “Stuttering issues should resolve over time as the shaders continue to compile in the background while playing,” the studio wrote on X. Compiling shaders is, you’ll recall, the bane of gamers everywhere. “If you’re still experiencing issues after 15 minutes of continuous play, you can also clear your shader cache via your video card manufacturer’s approved method.”

Fingers crossed, then, but we’ll keep you posted if the problems turn out to be more serious than that. For now, you can check out the full patch notes below.

Assetto Corsa EVO motors into multiplayer racing for the first time in its latest early access update

by admin September 25, 2025

Vroom. Vroom vroom. Vroom vroom vroom. Ahem, sorry, dunno what happened to me there. Assetto Corsa EVO, the three-letter-yelling follow up to one on Steam’s long-reigning top racing sims, has just gotten its third early access update. It adds in online multiplayer, plus a bunch of fresh cars and tracks to hop into moments before you’re unceremoniously punted off by a random.

I’ve been playing a bit of a waiting game with AC EVO since yapping about it at length for my old home when it first debuted in early access at the start of this year, but this might be the point I hop behind its wheel agaion and see how devs Kunos Simulazioni have managed to flesh it out so far. After all, they’ve now added in a 90s Merc 190E, which is pretty much square German saloon kryptonite for my will to hold off on checking things out.

Booting the gas to commence my rundown of update 3’s inclusions, the headliner’s AC EVO’s first step into multiplayer via a new mode that lets you hop into races against up to 16 other players who’ll no doubt be polite enough not to use your rear bumper as their brake. These races are held in free in-game servers, which run 24/7 and will have the sort of variety of race scenarios, tracks, and weather settings you’d expect to pick between.

A portal for custom servers is said to be coming soon and those are paid, something that hasn’t gone down well with players to the extent it looks to be a key factor in the EVO’s Steam reviews currently sitting at mixed. In terms of what they cost, a 20 or more slot server that’s live 24/7 for 30 days will be €15 plus VAT, while renting a server with unlimited slots for just a day will cost €5. There are discounts if you opt to rent a server for longer periods, those being three, six, or twelve months. It’s a controversial way of monetising things for sure, especially for a game that’s still in paid early access.

Beyond that, update 3 brings nine new cars: three GTs, three special racers, and three road cars. The BMW M4 GT3 EVO, Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2, and Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport are the GTs, the Caterham Seven Academy Racer, Dallara Stradale, and the Ferrari F2004 F1 car that a certain Mike Schumacher drove are the specials. Finally, the road cars are the Audi RS 6 Avant, BMW M3 Sport Evo (E30), and that Merc 190E Evo 2 I mentioned earlier. New tracks-wise, Belgian rain magnet Spa and energy drink road the Red Bull Ring have arrived.

When fire them up, you’ll likely notice a few other new additions like revamped car audio, a recalibrated tyre simming model, and graphical tweaks which bring in global illumination, optimised CPU/GPU performance especially for bigger grids and “significantly reduced VRAM usage”

So, hopefully less stuttery vroom vrooms when jumping into these new online races. Tell the first road rager who cheekily spins you out and then speeds of sniggering like Dick Dastardly I said hi.

Hitman’s latest free Elusive Target mission makes you Bruce Lee’s bodyguard, and is out now

by admin September 25, 2025

Bruce Lee is in Hitman now. Unfortunately, you don’t get to play as him. Fortunately, you do not have to fight him. Oh, don’t look at me like that, Agent 47. You might be the last word in swatting people with Wet Floor signs, but I’ve yet to see you perform a credible one-inch punch. Perhaps you’d get the drop on Bruce Lee if you threw up on him after swallowing an irradiated carbon rod, but I don’t fancy your chances in the context of a proper Bangkok martial arts tournament – like the one depicted in Hitman’s latest Elusive Target mission, the Dragon. Here be trailer.

Watch on YouTube

Available from today, 25th September, until Thursday 20th November, the free Infiltrator Elusive Target update both marks Bruce Lee’s 85th anniversary and reinvents him as an agent of the ICA. Lee is trying to infiltrate the Concord Union crime syndicate by way of a martial arts tournament at the Himmapan Hotel. His job is to flatten a few faces and uncover the Concord Union’s supreme leader. Your job is to stop people sabotaging the tournament.

I imagine this will be stuff like identifying terrain traps and intercepting people who want to spike Bruce Lee’s trademark pre-fight Mai Tai with 14-day-old cat litter. No, I don’t know whether Bruce Lee really drank Mai Tais, but in my defence, I didn’t know he was a secret agent, either. We’re blundering in the dark!

The Elusive Target accompanies the time-limited release of a Bruce Lee DLC pack that grants permanent access to the Dragon contract, together with Lee’s yellow tracksuit, some kali sticks, a jade dagger, some golden dragon scissors, and some cosmetics for your Freelancer Safehouse. All yours for $4.99, €4.99 or £3.99. I would not pay that much for some scissors, not even if they were all yellow and draconic, but you do you. Now, please savour this roadmap of upcoming Hitmen content.

I’m interested to know how well-received the time-limited nature of these Elusive Targets are. The model makes more sense in Hitman’s universe of shifting allegiances and identities, and doesn’t seem to have roused quite the same opprobrium directed at other developers who remove stuff from their games. I’m also keen to know if there’s the option to simply watch the martial arts tournament in the Dragon. It would be a terrible waste of Lee’s charisma if we had to spend the whole time facing away from the arena, tripping over karate students holding sports bottles full of acid.

Jeet Kune Do legends aside, Io Interactive have just updated the Hitman World of Assassination trilogy on PC with the same VR support previously offered by PSVR2 on console. This allows you to “dual-wield weapons, interact with disguises, and use their environment creatively thanks to intuitive motion controls, full ambidexterity, and room-scale implementation”. It’s compatible with all campaign locations from all three games, together with the Freelancer strategy roguelike mode.

Io’s wider activities include a James Bond game. I’m pretty sure Agent 47 could take James Bond.
