Do Large Language Models Dream of AI Agents?

by admin August 20, 2025

During sleep, the human brain sorts through different memories, consolidating important ones while discarding those that don’t matter. What if AI could do the same?

Bilt, a company that offers local shopping and restaurant deals to renters, recently deployed several million agents with the hopes of doing just that.

Bilt uses technology from a startup called Letta that allows agents to learn from previous conversations and share memories with one another. Using a process called “sleeptime compute,” the agents decide what information to store in its long-term memory vault and what might be needed for faster recall.

“We can make a single update to a [memory] block and have the behavior of hundreds of thousands of agents change,” says Andrew Fitz, an AI engineer at Bilt. “This is useful in any scenario where you want fine-grained control over agents’ context,” he adds, referring to the text prompt fed to the model at inference time.

Large language models can typically only “recall” things if information is included in the context window. If you want a chatbot to remember your most recent conversation, you need to paste it into the chat.

Most AI systems can only handle a limited amount of information in the context window before their ability to use the data falters and they hallucinate or become confused. The human brain, by contrast, is able to file away useful information and recall it later.

“Your brain is continuously improving, adding more information like a sponge,” says Charles Packer, Letta’s CEO. “With language models, it’s like the exact opposite. You run these language models in a loop for long enough and the context becomes poisoned; they get derailed and you just want to reset.”

Packer and his cofounder Sarah Wooders previously developed MemGPT, an open-source project that aimed to help LLMs decide what information should be stored in short-term vs. long-term memory. With Letta, the duo has expanded their approach to let agents learn in the background.

Bilt’s collaboration with Letta is part of a broader push to give AI the ability to store and recall useful information, which could make chatbots smarter and agents less error-prone. Memory remains underdeveloped in modern AI, which undermines the intelligence and reliability of AI tools, according to experts I spoke to.

Harrison Chase, cofounder and CEO of LangChain, another company that has developed a method for improving memory in AI agents, says he sees memory as a vital part of context engineering—wherein a user or engineer decides what information to feed into the context window. LangChain offers companies several different kinds of memory storage for agents, from long-term facts about users to memories of recent experiences. “Memory, I would argue, is a form of context,” Chase says. “A big portion of an AI engineer’s job is basically getting the model the right context [information].”

Consumer AI tools are gradually becoming less forgetful, too. This February, OpenAI announced that ChatGPT will store relevant information in order to provide a more personalized experience for users—although the company did not disclose how this works.

Letta and LangChain make the process of recall more transparent to engineers building AI systems.

“I think it’s super important not only for the models to be open but also for the memory systems to be open,” says Clem Delangue, CEO of the AI hosting platform Hugging Face and an investor in Letta.

Intriguingly, Letta’s CEO Packer hints that it might also be important for AI models to learn what to forget. “If a user says, ‘that one project we were working on, wipe it out from your memory’ then the agent should be able to go back and retroactively rewrite every single memory.”

The notion of artificial memories and dreams makes me think of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick, a mind-bending novel that inspired the stylishly dystopian movie Blade Runner. Large language models aren’t yet as impressive as the rebellious replicants of the story, but their memories, it seems, can be just as fragile.

This Air Purifier for Large Rooms Is Now Practically Free, Amazon Clears Out 4.5-Star Top Picks

by admin June 21, 2025

The air you breathe matters more than you might think. Between pollen, pet dander, dust, and whatever’s drifting in through open windows, it’s easy for indoor air to get a little stale or even irritating. That’s where a good air purifier comes in, and if you’ve been thinking about buying one, now’s a good time to jump in. You can get a great machine that can keep all the nasties out of your air at home while cleaning large spaces at a time. Because no one wants to have to buy multiple machines, if they can help it.

Head to Amazon right now to get the Ecoself Air Purifier, which is just $55, down from its usual price of $91. That’s $36 off and a discount of 40%.

An affordable and efficient way to clean your home air

This unit is built to support spaces up to 700 square feet, so it’s good for bedrooms, home offices, small living rooms, or even dorm rooms. Its three-stage filtration system clears your air quickly and includes a pre-filter, a HEPA H13 filter, and an activated carbon filter. All of those components work together to trap dust, smoke, allergens, and odors floating around in the air. If you have pets or allergies, or just want your room to smell a little fresher, this is a good way to do it. Lingering odors are obviously no fun, and breathing in allergens can give you long-term, frustrating illnesses.

This air purifier can do all that and still run completely quietly. Even on higher fan speeds, the noise level stays low enough that it won’t interrupt a phone call or disturb your sleep. It also has a touch control panel that’s easy to use, and features like a timer, sleep mode, and real-time air quality monitoring to help you keep your space feeling clean and comfortable without expending a lot of unnecessary energy.

Plus, auto mode can detect changes in your air quality and adjust fan speed accordingly, so you don’t have to constantly tweak settings. That’s helpful if you’re cooking, cleaning, or just letting some fresh air in through an open window.

You’re getting all this for less than $100. For $55 (-40%), the Ecoself is an even better value. It’s a smart buy if you want cleaner air at home without overthinking it. Deals like this don’t stick around forever, so if you’ve been considering a purifier, now’s your chance. Or maybe you can gift it to someone else who needs cleaner air.

Shiba Inu (SHIB) Large Transaction Volume Down 88%: Details

by admin June 18, 2025

On June 18, leading dog-themed meme token, Shiba Inu (SHIB), saw a massive decline of 88.09% in its large transaction volume, according to the latest data from on-chain analytics platform IntoTheBlock.

As the crypto market remains bloody, with the prices of leading cryptocurrencies plunging deeper amid persisting market volatility, SHIB has not only continued to experience significant disruptions in its price movement, but its behind-the-scenes trend in the on-chain space has also been severely impacted.

Over the last 24 hours, the total net inflow of tokens moved among wallets of SHIB investors holding at least $100,000 worth of SHIB tokens has fallen by a massive 88.09% to an unusual $23.36 million.

You Might Also Like

Despite amassing $196.15 million in large transaction volume on June 16—the highest level achieved over the last week—SHIB’s large transaction volume has dropped by about 90% in just two days.

While this comes amid a broad crypto market bloodbath, the decline in large transaction volume experienced in the SHIB ecosystem today indicates reduced trading activity among whales or institutional players, either buying or selling.

Although whales are known for accumulating more tokens during periods of consolidation or decline, this on-chain metric suggests weakened investor interest, as whales are now relenting on accumulating the tokens following the market’s negative performance.

This negative trend in SHIB’s price action and on-chain activity has caused holders to question the possibility of a potential price breakout for SHIB following the ongoing market sell-off.

Despite reaching notable highs in the last month, the Bitcoin-led market action has kept traders closely watching for signs of a potential cooling-off period.

Nonetheless, this downturn in SHIB’s large transaction volume suggests that investors are no longer willing to accumulate the token in large quantities, implying that bearish sentiment on SHIB is gradually taking center stage.

Still, SHIB has held steady in price over the last day despite the decline in on-chain movement, fueling more curiosity among SHIB holders.

According to data from CoinMarketCap, SHIB has surged slightly by 0.75% in price over the last 24 hours. As such, the token is trading steadily at around $0.00001170 as of press time.

Ethereum Large Transactions Jump 100% In 24 Hours, Will ETH Whales Drive Altcoin Season?

by admin June 11, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Ethereum whales have started returning to the arena as the price has picked up once again. This return marks a turn for the digital asset, which has suffered from major sell-offs over the last few weeks. So far, they have more than doubled their activities in a single day period, showing a renewed interest in the market. The implications of this would be that Ethereum whales are driving the recovery and could trigger the start of the altcoin season.

Ethereum Whale Transactions Double In 24 Hours

According to the on-chain data aggregation website, IntoTheBlock, Ethereum whales have been one of the most active in recent days. The data alludes to an over 100% increase in their transaction volumes, as well as the number of transactions in a 24-hour period. The large transaction volumes alone rose 164.14% by Tuesday, bringing the total dollar value to around $7.84 billion.

For comparison, these large transactions involve transactions carrying at least $100,000 at the time they were moved. On Monday, there were only 3,080 transactions recorded. However, by Tuesday, this number had ballooned to almost 6,000. From here, the trend had grown, and an even higher rise was recorded in the volume of ETH that was transacted.

Compared to the total 1.18 million ETH that was moved by these large investors back on Monday, a total of 3.03 million ETH was moved by Tuesday alone. This translated to an over 150% increase in the volume of ETH transacted. This also carried on into the volume in dollars, moving from $2.97 billion on Monday to $7.84 billion on Tuesday.

Source: IntoTheBlock

The rise in the large transaction volumes coincides with the rise in the Ethereum price from around $2,500 to $2,700. This suggests that more of this volume was whales buying rather than selling, thus leading to the jump in the price of Ethereum.

Can This Trigger An Altcoin Season?

Historically, Ethereum has always been the leader of altcoin season, given its position as the largest altcoin in the market. This is also due to the fact that many of the top altcoins in the space are built on Ethereum’s infrastructure, making them a beta play to the second-largest cryptocurrency. So when the ETH price rose, so did the price of altcoins.

Given this trend, it is expected that Ethereum will once again lead the next altcoin season, and if its price continues to rise, the rest of the altcoin is expected to rise with it. However, there is still a problem as the Bitcoin dominance remains very high and would need to fall for the next altcoin season to begin. Ethereum would have to outperform Bitcoin, and so far, this has not been the case as ETH is yet to reach a new all-time high after Bitcoin, stalling the altcoin season.

A big Civilization 7 update is on the way with ‘large and huge maps,’ Steam Workshop support, and a promise to keep working on it

by admin June 11, 2025

A beefy new update for Civilization 7 is coming soon, featuring “several long-awaited features” including Large and Huge maps, new advanced game options, town specializations, and Steam Workshop support.

The full low-down for those who want to dive deep is up on the Civilization website, but here’s the crash course version:

  • Large and Huge map sizes, with a note that “bigger maps have bigger hardware demands,” so you may notice slower turn times or performance drops while playing on them
  • New Advanced Game Options including selectable crisis types, customizable AI difficulty, and the ability to bypass Civ unlocks so you can select from any civilization during age transitions
  • Steam Workshop support for better mod support, with documentation, “best practices,” and a few example mods made by members of the development team
  • New Town Specializations will see the addition of a new Resort Town, reworked Urban Center, and “small but meaningful” tweaks to other town types
  • New City-State Bonuses, Pantheons, and Beliefs: 24 new City-State bonuses, 2 new Pantheons, and a big batch of 14 new Religious Beliefs (across Founder, Reliquary, and Enhancer Beliefs)

Naturally, bug fixes, UI updates, and quality-of-life improvements are also in the works, along with “some surprises”—all will be revealed in the full patch notes, which are “coming soon.”

Firaxis also touched on what’s coming beyond this update, including some features targeted for July, and bigger-picture issues including overly abrupt Age transitions, lack of replayability, and a need to improve the “sense of empire identity and continuity throughout a multi-Age campaign.”

“These are significant areas of the game that are incredibly important to get right, but are more complex to solve,” Firaxis wrote. “Addressing this feedback in a satisfying way will take time, over the course of several updates. That said, you’ll start to see some smaller changes in July focused on end of Age countdowns and improvements to Age Transitions.

“For the longer-term and broader changes, we’ll share more detailed plans here when we’re ready. We’re invested in making these changes and empowering you to enjoy what sets Civ 7 apart.”

Civilization 7 has indeed struggled since its release earlier this year. It remains stuck with a “mixed” user rating on Steam, and user reviews are not currently headed in the right direction. Player numbers are also not where they should be: Civ 7’s concurrent player count on Steam is lagging well behind that of Civ 6 and, more worryingly, Civ 5. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of publisher Take-Two Interactive, said in May that the company is “really happy” with Civilization 7 overall, and that “in the fullness of time, it’ll be just great,” but how much time the company is willing to give it before it decides to move is the big question right now.

Firaxis said it’s aiming to have the next update for Civ 7—update 1.2.2, if you’re tracking these things—on June 17, but for now that remains subject to change.
