Jerry Jones: Micah Parsons trade about making Cowboys better

FRISCO, Texas — To Jerry Jones, the trade of Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers will make the Dallas Cowboys a better postseason team.

“This was a move to get us successful in the playoffs,” Jones said in a 46-minute news conference Thursday after the Cowboys acquired defensive tackle Kenny Clark and first-round picks in 2026 and 2027. “This was a move to be better on defense, stopping the run. This was a move to, if we get behind, not be run on. And it was a deliberate move, a well-thought-out move to make this happen.”

First, the Cowboys will have to reach the postseason without Parsons, who was selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first four seasons and also totaled 52.5 sacks.

Second, they will need their pass-rushing depth, led by Dante Fowler Jr., Marshawn Kneeland, Sam Williams, Donovan Ezeiruaku and James Houston, to become as forceful as Parsons, who is one of two players to record at least 12 sacks in each of his first four seasons since sacks became an official stat in 1982. Those five players have accounted for 73 sacks, with Kneeland, entering his second season, and Ezeiruaku, a rookie, yet to record a sack.

Third, the Cowboys will need their offense, led by new coach Brian Schottenheimer and quarterback Dak Prescott, who is returning from an injury that cost him the final nine games last season, to score a lot of points, starting next week against the Philadelphia Eagles.

“In our judgment, this gives us a better chance to be a better team than we have been the last several years,” Jones said.

Before last year’s 7-10 finish, the Cowboys went 12-5 three straight years but couldn’t get past the divisional round of the playoffs. In their past three playoff losses to the Packers (2023) and San Francisco 49ers (2021-22), the Cowboys have allowed 425 yards on the ground on 103 carries with six rushing touchdowns. Parsons did not record a sack in any of those games.

Last year, the Cowboys gave up more than 100 yards in 12 of 17 games and more than 140 yards eight times. With the addition of Clark, the Cowboys have added size (6-foot-3, 314 pounds) and expertise (a three-time Pro Bowler).

“Kenny Clark is a big part of this,” executive vice president Stephen Jones said. “That was a big part of winning right now. … We hadn’t been able to win the big games in the playoffs, and we think it is a direct connection to not being able to stop the run. And we think Kenny Clark is going to be a big piece to that. We felt like, because of our depth on the edge, as well as the ability to scheme pressure, that we could make up for Micah because obviously he’s elite at rushing the passer.”

New defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus was a Cowboys assistant when they were No. 1 against the run in 2016. In the past 12 years as a head coach, coordinator or linebackers coach, Eberflus has had eight top-10 run defenses.

“When you have the kind of extraordinary pass rush that Micah has, then the way to mitigate that pass rush is to run at [him],” Jerry Jones said. “If the pass rush doesn’t get you ahead, pretty big time, then when you’re playing even or behind, then you really got a problem in stopping the run.”

Parsons will make his return to AT&T Stadium with the Packers on Sept. 28. Jerry Jones has seen former stars return before, like Emmitt Smith in 2003 with the Arizona Cardinals.

“Micah will be problematic, very problematic,” Jerry Jones said. “I’d suggest that we get ahead and run the ball.”

It’s shaping up to be a crazy month for new games, with Indiana Jones’ beefy-looking story DLC finally arriving on September 4

by admin August 24, 2025

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s story DLC, Order of the Giants, has gotten an official release date of September 4 via a new “launch trailer” on YouTube. Is it really a “launch” trailer if we’re still over a week away from launch? And is the full title then “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and the Order of the Giants?” Much to consider.

The DLC will see Indy return to Rome to investigate the ancient legend of a jumbo-sized medieval crusader interred under the city, with his quest taking him from the streets above to the catacombs and below. Biblical giants, or Nephilim, played a big role in the Great Circle’s story, and I’m still confused how the DLC will fit in with that plot.

Launch Trailer – Indiana Jones and the Great Circle™: The Order of Giants – YouTube

Watch On

Does it branch off the section in the Vatican at the beginning of the game, or will it take place after the main quest, or otherwise as a fully standalone thing you select from the main menu? I also don’t know how much excitement for Nephilim-related ancient conspiracies and revelations I still have after the resolution of the base game’s story.

On the flip side, the Vatican chapter of The Great Circle was my favorite part of one of my favorite games of last year, so maybe I should just shut my big yap and enjoy some more swashbuckling hijinks in the Blackshirt-occupied Eternal City. The trailers have focused on underground tomb raiding for the most part, but if there’s another dense, Deus Ex-style urban sandbox in this DLC, I’ll be a very happy man.

The Order of the Giants has a hefty $35 price tag, which I’m taking as a promise of quality and scope—hope springs eternal, and I’m an optimist at heart. The DLC can weirdly only be bought with the game’s $100 “premium edition,” or as the $35 “upgrade” to that edition from the $70 base game. So theoretically shelling out for the big boy version up front is the “better” deal if you don’t have Indy and the Big Circle in your library already, even if it feels very bad.

September is shaping up to be stacked for releases, with both Order of the Giants and Hollow Knight: Silksong dropping on the fourth alone. I love The Great Circle and Machine Games, but smart money’s on the scrappy bug game guys from Australia being the ones who blow the doors down sales-wise.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

Indiana Jones Is The First Big Microsoft Game Announced For Switch 2

by admin August 19, 2025

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is Microsoft’s first release confirmed for Switch 2. The stealth action adventure will hit Nintendo’s handheld hybrid in 2026, but the new DLC will arrive next month on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

MachineGames’ latest port to a Nintendo platform didn’t get a specific release date, so we have no idea if it’s coming in the first half of 2026 or the holiday season. We also don’t know what it will look like since there was no accompanying gameplay teaser. I guess all those Switch 2 dev kits really did go out late, even to places like Microsoft.

But we did get another trailer at Gamescom for the upcoming Order of the Giants DLC expansion coming to Indiana Jones. Also a release date: September 6. Here’s the new footage:

It looks neat, although Troy Baker seems to be reverting back to his usual voice a bit. Story expansions are hit-or-miss with single-player games, but Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is close enough to feeling like a movie that I could see a bite-sized adventure being a nice treat.

Microsoft hasn’t yet announced any other ports for Switch 2, including ones that feel obvious like Sea of Thieves or Diablo 4. Hopefully, Indiana Jones means the dam is about to break on all of those, though it seems like we’ll have to wait until next year, and possibly beyond for most of them.
