Resident Evil 9 is real, arriving next year, and it’s looking like it’ll be amping up the horror once more

by admin June 7, 2025

The impending announcement of Resident Evil 9 has been sort of hovering around for what felt like months. Insiders have been claiming for a while that we were about to see it at this or that show, but it somehow never materialised – and it looks like today’s the day that’s finally changed.

During today’s Summer Game Fest kick-off showcase, Capcom delivered a brief message about the upcoming sequel in the legendary horror series. In a short video, Jun Takeuchi thanked fans for their support of the Resident Evil series and stated that there’ll be more news soon, when the developer is ready. This lead most to believe that we wouldn’t be seeing Resident Evil 9 today, but as the show closed, everyone was surprised.

A horrifying brief trailer, Resident Evil 9 is being dubbed Resident Evil Requiem, and looks to be inviting players into a much scarier experience – akin to Resident Evil Biohazard – this time around. The better news? It’ll be playable as of February 27, 2026.

The game has actually been teased by Capcom in recent videos from the publisher, such as the one published to celebrate Resident Evil 4 selling 10 million copies. It was so subtle, however, you may not have spotted it.

Resident Evil 9 is being said to represent a big step forward for the series, though maybe not quite to the degree earlier reports have made it out to be; time will only tell. There’s obviously plenty we still do not know, including how much of the final game will resemble those leaks. Either way, Capcom have been doing this a while now, and it’ll no doubt be the survival horror-action romp all Resi fans have been waiting for.

As it’s often the case, however, more will certainly be revealed between now Resident Evil 9’s launch next year. The game is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

With Super Earth on the line, Helldivers 2’s developed a glitch that’s stopping speedy-inputting players’ stratagems from working, but Arrowhead says it’ll be fixed “ASAP”

by admin May 28, 2025

Uh oh, with the battle for Super Earth in its critical final phase, Helldivers 2’s developed a pesky glitch that really looks to be hampering players’ efforts to hold off the Illuminate. Stratagems inputted rapidly aren’t deploying on cue, and Arrowhead says a fix is coming “ASAP”.

As I mentioned, the timing of this becoming an issue is really, really bad. The divers are right in the middle of trying to stop an apparently once in a century invasion of their home planet from wiping out every last mega city. Oof.

As showcased by multiple exasperated players over on the game’s subreddit, following the deployment of yesterday’s patch, rapidly inputting the button combos that trigger stratagems is resulting in them not being deployed.

It seems you can still get them to roll out if you press the arrows a bit more slowly, but given a lot of the stuff you’re calling in – from air support to the deployment of ammo and stim restocking stations – is the kind of thing you’ll want to be activated as soon as you request it mid-firefight, folks are understandably irate.

“It’s the first time a bug on this game actually made me want to stop playing,” one frustrated player wrote, “Not only that, but it’s something that affects a CORE MECHANIC of the game, why do they keep green lighting patches without at least testing if the core mechanics are working fine?”

The good news is that Arrowhead knows about the issue and is on the case. “We are aware of the stratagem input glitch and we are currently testing a fix and intend to put one out ASAP,” community manager Katherine ‘Baskinator’ Baskin has just announced in HD2’s Discord server, “We will let you know when it’s ready!

So, all you can do is try and hang in there until it arrives – and to be fair, other MOs affected by major tech issues didn’t consign the Helldivers to inevitable defeat as far as I remember, so all isn’t necessarily lost.

Has this stratagem glitch impacted your efforts to help hold Super Earth? Let us know below!

Embracer Group says it’ll put out 76 different games in the coming year, as it ditches friends for a fellowship and spins off Goat Sim publisher Coffee Stain

by admin May 24, 2025

Damn, the nice little friendship thing Embracer Group had decided to morph into after earning the ire of lots of folks by going hard on the layoffs, closures and sales is no more.

The company’s decided to ditch the “and friends” tag it had given to different bits of its business, and form a fellowship, as it does yet more corporate shuffling around. It does also plan to actually release some more games.

As announced by Embracer, the bit of previously dubbed Middle-Earth and Friends will now be known as Fellowship Entertainment. As you might have guessed, that’s the part that looks after The Lord of the Rings, as well as housing the studios behind likes of Kingdom Come Deliverance, Tomb Raider, the Metro series, and Dead Island.

With Asmodee, the second of the three bits Embracer divided itself into last year, having spun off from the company as of February this year, it’s the turn of the third bit formerly known as Coffee Stain & Friends to do the same. Now named Coffee Stain Group, the subsidiary that includes the dev teams behind the likes of Deep Rock Galactic, Valheim and Goat Simulator is being released into the economic wild as a separately stock market-listed company.

“The games industry is more competitive than ever, but also more rewarding if you do things right, and we believe this move gives us the clarity and control to navigate the landscape better on our own terms,” Coffee Stain Group CEO Anton Westbergh said, “We can now focus even more on what we do best—supporting our developers, staying close to our communities, and building an even brighter future for Coffee Stain.”

Right, that’s enough on the corporate shuffling of people’s livelihoods. In the financial results it’s published alongside this spin-off announcement, Embracer says that it’s got “76 different games” it plans to release in the coming financial year. There’ll be “a mix of new IPs, sequels, and remasters”, including Killing Floor 3 and the recently delayed Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, with Embracer expecting the latter to “drive notable revenues but to have lower margins due to shared economics with several other partners”.

Another as of yet unannounced AAA game that Embracer things will have “financial dynamics more similar to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2” is also in the works, but the company reckons it’ll have to be pushed back to the 2026/27 financial year to allow for more “polish”

The rest of the lineup for the upcoming is being filled by the likes of Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, Metal Eden, and “the next SpongeBob SquarePants game”. Spongebob Squarepants tries to get to the Bikini Bottom of where Embracer’s friends have gone, maybe?
