BREAKING: Binance’s CZ Issues Major Security Alert About BNB Chain’s X Account

by admin October 1, 2025

Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao has issued a major security warning about the official X account of BNB Chain, which appears to have been compromised by hackers.

ALERT 🚨: The @BNBCHAIN X account may have been compromised.

Please do not click on any links recently posted from this account.

The teams are investigating and will share updates as soon as possible. 🙏

— CZ 🔶 BNB (@cz_binance) October 1, 2025

Several minutes ago, the account posted “$4” alongside the phrase “FOR THE MEME.” This was accompanied by a wallet address and a picture of CZ.

The obviously fraudulent social media post has been pinned by the attackers to gain more exposure. Notably, @BNBCHAIN boasts a whopping 3.6 million followers, which makes it one of the most popular cryptocurrency-related pages on X (and a very juicy target for attackers).

CZ has warned against clicking any suspicious links posted from the account, adding that the team is currently investigating the issue.

Binance’s Chinese account has also warned that the official English-language account of the BNB Chain has been hacked.

Other recent crypto account hacks

Crypto scams have been plaguing social media networks for years. In 2025, there have been several other high-profile X hacks pulled off by crypto scammers. In February, the official account of Pump.fun was used to announce a fake governance token.

During the same month, an account belonging to a WIRED reporter was also compromised to promote a fake WIRED-branded meme token.

Hackers are also targeting public figures. In March, the official X account of Ghana President John Mahama was compromised to promote “Solanafrica,” a fraudulent token on the Solana network. In April, the X account of UK government minister Lucy Powell was hacked to advertise a bogus “community-driven digital currency.”

Roblox’s new ‘sensitive issues’ label deemed “a step backward for both creative expression and social justice” by advocacy groups

by admin September 30, 2025

Roblox has been criticised for its new guidelines on “sensitive issues”, described by advocacy groups as “a step backward for both creative expression and social justice”.

Back in August, Roblox introduced a new content descriptor for sensitive issues as part of an improvement to parental control. The descriptor is meant for Roblox experiences themed on social, political, or religious issues, but the company stated it is “not meant to take a stance on any specific issue”.

That has now been opposed in an open letter to Roblox by advocacy groups Women In Games, Out Making Games, and BAME in Games, each focused on supporting marginalised groups.

“Roblox’s recently proposed creator guidelines regarding ‘sensitive issues’ represent a step backward for both creative expression and social justice,” the open letter reads. “These changes threaten to undermine the vibrant, inclusive creative community that has flourished on the platform since 2006, while potentially causing real harm to marginalised groups in society.”

Essentially, the letter argues, by introducing these descriptors Roblox is treating issues of equality and human rights as “debatable rather than fundamental”.

Roblox’s criteria for the descriptor applies to “experiences where a majority of the content, gameplay, or experience details…refers to the sensitive issue”, which can include immigration, capital punishment, gun control, marriage equality, pay equity in sports, racial profiling, reproductive rights, and more.

“We support efforts to keep children safe online – especially girls, who face disproportionate harassment and grooming,” the open letter continues. “But safety cannot be achieved by silencing content that educates and empowers.

“Issues such as equal pay, reproductive rights, and gender equality are central to girls’ and women’s lived experiences. Marking these as ‘sensitive’ risks hiding content that is vital to representation, education, and inspiration.”

Suppressing such experiences, the advocacy groups claim, is “false neutrality” and instead of protecting children, “the policy risks teaching Roblox’s diverse audience that issues of justice and equality are controversial opinions rather than universal values, thereby reinforcing the very divisions it claims to guard against.”

Instead, the groups believe Roblox should rely on internationally recognised age-rating systems like PEGI and the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC), instead of “invent[ing] a vague, easily abused ‘sensitive issues’ label”.

Eurogamer has contacted Roblox for its response to the open letter.

Back in July, Roblox also introduced new safety features, including an AI used to estimate a user’s age through video selfie. Earlier this month, it announced this would be expanded to all users by the end of the year.

Borderlands 4 details first paid DLC plans as 2K continues to struggle with PC performance issues

by admin September 29, 2025

Gearbox revealed its first DLC vault hunter for Borderlands 4 during the Tokyo Game Show over the weekend. C4SH will be coming to the game in Q1 2026 alongside the game’s first story pack.

C4SH was revealed via a short cinematic teaser at the Borderlands 4 Tokyo Game Show panel, and is a former casino dealer robot who’ll use a degree of chance across all three of their skill trees. A full ability breakdown is set to take place in the near future, though there’s no date just yet.

The new character will arrive alongside a story pack called Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. This pack will bring new main missions to complete, new gear, a new region on the map, a load of new cosmetics, and of course C4SH to tie it all together.

Here’s the C4SH teaser for Borderlands 4.Watch on YouTube

While the future of Borderlands 4 was shown off proudly in Japan, the game is still tackling technical hurdles in the present. While a recent patch has gone a ways in tackling performance issues, it has brought with it additional problems with Gearbox telling some on PC to clear their shader cache if things aren’t stable within 15-minutes of play time.

In addition, Borderlands 4’s Switch 2 version was delayed to an unspecified date for “additional development and polish time”. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford advised those on X unhappy with Borderlands 4 performance issues to refund the game in the days following its release.

Still, those able to get the game running well are having a good time with the sci-fi shooter. Eurogamer’s Borderlands 4 review states: “Borderlands 4 brings a more sensible script and a true open world to its pseudo-cel-shaded gun-show. But these moderate improvements are undermined by frustrating exploration and combat that takes too long to properly shine.”

Borderlands 4 Stuttering On PC? Gearbox Has An Unusual Step To Fix Stability Issues

by admin September 26, 2025

The newest Borderlands 4 patch arrived on September 25, addressing stability and performance issues. The update doesn’t fix everything, though, and now developer Gearbox has given players some advice about how to addresses ongoing stability issues.

The developer said it’s aware of players experiencing stuttering issues following installation of the new update, impacting performance. This is due to shader compilation that’s occurring in the background during gameplay, which it said should clear up after 15 minutes of “continuous play.” That’s an unusual note, as shader compilation is typically handled during start-up, before you begin playing, in order to avoid just these sorts of issues. If the stuttering doesn’t clear up after 15 minutes, Gearbox advised clearing your shader cache, which is a process specific to your graphics card’s manufacturer.

The technical issues with Borderlands 4 prompted Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford to post through it, but he’s since moved on to posting a lot about the upcoming Now You See Me movie sequel. Pitchford contributed to the magic elements of the movie and says he was more involved with that film that the Borderlands movie.

The September 25 patch for Borderlands 4 also added an FOV slider on console, which is something fans had asked for (and something that can reduce performance). The patch also made some balance changes to Vault Hunters, and even more are coming in another update that’s planned for next week.

In other Borderlands 4 news, the Switch 2 edition has been delayed indefinitely and all digital preorders are being refunded. Gearbox delayed the game to help add more polish and to support cross-saves.

Borderlands 4 On Switch 2 Delayed Amid Ongoing Performance Issues

by admin September 24, 2025

Despite launching on September 12 to a generally positive critical reception, Borderlands 4 has been plagued with performance issues on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. While the studio continues to iron out the kinks, it has decided to delay the Switch 2 launch of Borderlands 4 to an unspecified date.

Since its launch on other platforms, players have reported technical issues with Borderlands 4, including unstable framerates, stuttering, and crashes, even on higher-end PCs. As a result of the latter, the game’s Steam reviews currently stand at “Mixed.”

Borderlands 4 was scheduled to launch on Switch 2 on October 3, but Gearbox has pushed the date to ensure this version doesn’t suffer a similar fate. As a result, Gearbox is canceling all digital pre-orders on the Nintendo eShop (though players can do this themselves or wait for it to occur automatically on Friday, September 26). The studio also states it plans to time the eventual release of this version to coincide with the arrival of cross-saves, a feature currently in development.

Here is Gearbox’s full message, as shared on X:

Greetings, Vault Hunters.
We need to share that the release of Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 is being delayed. We do not take this decision lightly, but are committed to ensuring we deliver the best possible experience to our fans, and the game needs additional development and polish time to do that. Our hope is to also better align this release with the addition of cross-saves, which we are working on and recognize is very important. We will update you all on the new release timing once we’ve fully adjusted our plans.
In accordance with Nintendo’s policy, all digital pre-orders to date will be cancelled. Customers can initiate that process themselves now, or it will happen automatically starting on Friday, September 26. For questions about the Nintendo eShop, contact [Nintendo]. For physical pre-orders, please reach out to the corresponding retailer.
We greatly appreciate the feedback, support and patience of our fans and community. It’s truly what keeps us going.

XRP Ledger Issues Important Migration Alert for Validators: Details

by admin September 22, 2025

A crucial migration alert has been issued to XRP Ledger validators. As part of the migration of assets from the old XRPL Foundation (now known as Inclusive Financial Technology Foundation) to the new XRPL Foundation, the old XRPL Foundation’s published UNL, known as the default UNL or dUNL, is also being migrated.

With the new XRPL Foundation UNL currently active, validators whose XRP Ledger node currently trusts the UNL published by the old XRP Ledger Foundation are urged to migrate to it by making some changes to their rippled configuration.

Failure to switch or update to the new settings might cause validator nodes to stop loading the XRPL Foundation’s trusted validators list from Sept. 30, 2025, and entirely on Jan. 18, 2026, when the now-deprecated UNL expires.

For validators, if their rippled configuration remains unupdated within these timelines, the node could stop connecting to the network if it relies exclusively on the (old) UNL published by the XRPL Foundation. Also, there is a chance of disruption if referencing the old foundation list along with other lists, which makes the migration of the utmost importance.

‼️ Very Important.

The XRP Ledger Foundation dUNL migration deadline is approaching.

Please make sure you have the new validator list and keys to continue using it. https://t.co/uSoWDZKKBd

— Vet 🏴‍☠️ (@Vet_X0) September 22, 2025

Vet, a dUNL validator on the XRP Ledger, shared this crucial information in an X post, noting that the XRP Ledger Foundation dUNL migration deadline is approaching — it is only eight days away.

mXRP goes live

In a recent tweet, Axelar Network announced mXRP, a new yield-bearing liquid staked token that kickstarts DeFi on XRPL and unlocks up to 10% APY for XRP holders.

Midas, in partnership with Interop Labs, has announced the launch of mXRP on the Axelar network, a first-of-its-kind tokenized exposure product offering XRP-denominated yield strategies.

The mXRP token is issued on the new XRPL EVM through audited smart contracts. The XRP asset is bridged into the protocol through Axelar, which enables tokenization across over 80 blockchains, broadening access to mXRP.

XRP was trading at $2.84 at press time.

Bitcoin faces quantum risk: Solana co-founder issues warning

by admin September 21, 2025

Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko has warned that Bitcoin developers must prepare for a potential quantum computing breakthrough that could render the network’s current security measures outdated.

Summary

  • At the All-In Summit, Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko reignited debate over Bitcoin’s long-term security.
  • There’s a “50/50” chance that quantum computers could break its cryptographic defenses within five years. Rapid advances in AI show how quickly theory can become reality.
  • The question is not just if Bitcoin must migrate to quantum-safe cryptography—but when.

According to Yakovenko, who was speaking at the All-In Summit 2025, there is a “50/50” probability that within five years, quantum computers will be strong enough to crack the cryptographic safeguards protecting Bitcoin wallets.

The concern centers on quantum machines running algorithms like Shor’s, which could crack the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm currently protecting Bitcoin (BTC) private keys.

This would allow attackers to forge transactions and compromise wallets, creating an existential risk for the network.

Yakovenko argued that “we should migrate Bitcoin to a quantum-resistant signature scheme” before such technology becomes viable.

Skeptics like Blockstream’s Adam Back downplay immediacy of threat

The Bitcoin community remains divided on the urgency of quantum threats. Adam Back, CEO of Blockstream, estimated that the technology is still relatively far away and argued that making Bitcoin quantum-ready is “relatively simple.”

Bitcoin Core contributor Peter Todd dismissed current quantum computers as non-existent, stating that “demos running toy problems do not count.”

Luke Dashjr, another Bitcoin Core contributor, suggested quantum threats pose less immediate danger than spam transactions and developer corruption issues the community currently faces.

Bitcoin’s design complicates any quantum upgrade. A migration to post-quantum cryptography would require a hard fork, a highly contentious and technically complex process needing widespread network support.

Yakovenko countered skepticism by pointing to quick AI advances as evidence of how quickly laboratory research can transition to real-world applications.

He suggested that when tech giants like Apple or Google deploy quantum-safe cryptographic stacks, “it’s time to migrate” Bitcoin’s security infrastructure.

Exposed keys create vulnerability

Bitcoin’s quantum vulnerability stems from two primary attack vectors. The network uses ECDSA based on the secp256k1 curve to secure private keys and validate transactions.

This makes it particularly vulnerable to Shor’s algorithm, which could derive private keys from public keys in polynomial time.

Approximately 25-30% of all Bitcoin, over 4 million BTC, including Satoshi Nakamoto’s early holdings, sits in addresses with exposed public keys.

These legacy Pay-to-Public-Key addresses are immediately vulnerable to quantum attack since their public keys are already visible on the blockchain.

Transaction windows create additional risk exposure. When Bitcoin users start transactions, they reveal public keys during the roughly 10-minute confirmation window.

A sufficiently powerful quantum computer could exploit this brief exposure to derive private keys and redirect funds before transactions confirm.

The Sims 4 gets a much-needed update to the increasingly buggy base game, as EA assures players that ‘your concerns are heard’ over issues like deformed pets and missing ghost children

by admin September 21, 2025

The Sims 4 has been going through a bit of a mid-life crisis lately. A wayward patch issued in July triggered a rampant pregnancy epidemic, while the most recent Enchanted by Nature DLC received a less-than enthusiastic response from players. Now, it seems the community is generally fed up with the increasingly buggy state of the base game, with EA revealing plans for two solid months dedicated to bugfixes and quality-of-life support.

“We see your feedback on technical issues and game performance. And we want to assure you that your concerns are heard,” the publisher wrote in a post on Monday. “Over the next 8 weeks, our dedicated teams will dive in to resolve current issues and get ahead of unforeseen technical disruptions.”

Those plans kicked off in earnest with a big update to the base game that arrived late on Thursday. The headline feature of this patch was a newly added playpark for kids to run themselves ragged on, as well as a ‘play pretend’ interaction for kids who presumably can’t get to said playpark for whatever reason. The update also adds a prototype “memory boost” feature to eke some extra performance from your PC, though you’ll need to opt into this in the game settings.

Related articles

The meat of the update, though, is a voluminous list of bug fixes. These address a mixture of issues, some raised by the community, others selected from EA’s existing “bug archive”. There are far too many to list here, but a couple of highlights include pets being straightened out so they “no longer get deformed when traveling to another lot after aging up”, while unfortunate child sims “now show up as ghosts when they die due to over heat and freezing”.

EA plans a second round of bugfixes in October, and is asking the community to upvote their most desired fixes in The Sims 4’s bug report section of the EA forums. “Each upvote you cast on a reported issue helps us determine which problems are causing the biggest disruptions across the community,” the publisher points out. “The earlier we receive votes, the better. We’ll provide an update on our progress if we’re unable to address all of the top-voted issues in our October Laundry List.”

It’s good to see EA working to tidy The Sims 4 up a bit, but I do wonder whether part of the problem is simply that The Sims 4 is now 12 years old, and wasn’t designed to be the platform that EA has decided it is going to be. There was supposedly a fifth Sims game in development under the codename Project Rene, which would seem like an ideal opportunity to create a more robust launchpad for the all-encompassing Sims experience that EA wants.

EA president Laura Miele has since ruled this out, claiming that it wouldn’t be fair to existing fans who have invested lots of time and money into The Sims 4:

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

“What I wouldn’t want to have happen is you have to start from day zero and start from scratch and give up all of the things that you have created, give up all of the content that you’ve purchased over the years,” Miele said during an interview with Variety in July. “We put out over 85 content packs over the last 10 years on The Sims 4, and so resetting that is not player friendly and not a good idea for our community.”

It’s a reasonable line of argument, but players are well accustomed to new games supplanting old ones, and the existence of a Sims 5 doesn’t stop them from playing The Sims 4, unless EA decided to withdraw the game from sale.

In the same interview, Miele mentions that EA is planning a technology refresh and additional modes of play for The Sims 4, the former of which might help with all the bugs and other issues. Alternatively, it might break the game entirely, especially given the sheer amount of additional, optional stuff players can plug into the game.

Moreover, such an approach doesn’t offer the opportunity to address some of the more fundamental issues with The Sims 4. While it certainly has plenty to offer players these days, it was never the deepest of Maxis’ simulations (The Sims 3 had far richer AI, for example) and stubbornly sticking with it seems like a missed opportunity to create a strong foundation for a new era of Sims play.

Nonetheless, for now EA is sticking to its plan of retrofitting The Sims 4 with platform heels, so we’ll just have to hope the next few weeks of hardcore bug-fixing gives them a sufficiently clean foundation to work with.

Ripple Clocks 13: Uphold Issues Celebratory Tweet With XRP, RLUSD Spotlight

by admin September 21, 2025

Fintech company Ripple is celebrating its 13th anniversary, having launched in September 2012, with the crypto community celebrating this milestone.

Uphold crypto exchange celebrated this Ripple milestone in a tweet, which contained hashtags of XRP and RLUSD.

XRP Ledger was first launched in June 2012 by the trio of David Schwartz, Jed McCaleb and Arthur Britto, who began its development in 2011. Joined by Chris Larsen, the group started the Company NewCoin in September 2012 (which was renamed OpenCoin and now Ripple).

The XRP Ledger code was originally named Ripple, explaining how the name Ripple came to be. At its start, the ledger included a digital asset that would originally be called “Ripples” (XRP as the currency code) to follow the same naming convention as Bitcoin (BTC). At the time, the name Ripple stood for the open-source project.

In early discussions with potential customers, the team was asked about the differences between the Ripple project and the OpenCoin company. With the community starting to refer to the digital asset as XRP, it was decided in 2013 to rebrand the OpenCoin company to Ripple Labs, which has since been shortened to “Ripple.”

Uphold spotlights XRP, RLUSD

In a separate tweet, Uphold highlighted recent developments surrounding XRP and RLUSD.

The first-ever U.S. spot XRP ETF (XRPR) officially launched this week, marking a major milestone for mainstream adoption.

This week, Ripple announced a partnership with DBS Bank and Franklin Templeton to establish repo markets powered by tokenized collateral and stablecoins.

Investors will be able to use RLUSD to trade for Franklin Templeton’s money market fund, sgBENJI, which is listed on DBS’s digital exchange and tokenized on XRP Ledger, earning yield and opening new liquidity venues.
