Why is BNB Down Today? Price Rise Cut Short by Market Sell-Off After Israeli Strike in Qatar

by admin September 9, 2025

BNB swung sharply between gains and losses in a volatile 24-hour stretch. The token dropped to an $872 low earlier before rallying to $884 and then seeing a sharp reversal wipe out those gains.

The initial drop took BNB from around $880.50 to a low of $871.99. From there, the token staged a comeback, peaking near $884.60 before selling pressure brought it back down to its current level at $873.6.

That rebound came on a wave of trading activity, with volume spiking to nearly 60,000 tokens, particularly around $876, a level that acted as key support during the session, according to CoinDesk Research’s technical analysis model.

However, things quickly turned around for the token, which fell more than $5 in just minutes on a volume spike that coincided with a broader market sell-off. That drop came after reports that Israel launched an attack against Hamas’ leadership in Qatar.

While the broader crypto market fell, the price of gold saw a bump that saw futures near a new record at $3,700 an ounce, while gold-backed cryptocurrencies PAXG and XAUT hit highs of before dropping back.

Meanwhile, CoinDesk Data’s latest Exchange Review report revealed that Binance saw $2.63 trillion in futures trading volume last month, a new monthly record. Along with Bybit and Crypto.com, it was one of the largest exchanges by spot trading volume.

BNB can be used to pay for trading fees on Binance, allowing users to get a 25% trading discount on fees being paid. It’s also the native token of the BNB Chain.

Protestors occupy Microsoft president’s office as opposition to the company’s dealings with the Israeli military continue to escalate

by admin August 26, 2025

Less than a week after 18 protesters associated with activist group No Azure for Apartheid were arrested while protesting Microsoft’s dealings with the Israeli military, the group has staged a sit-in inside the office of Microsoft president Brad Smith. A report by The Verge says the building was subsequently locked down.

The protesters recorded at least two videos from inside Microsoft’s Building 34, including one showing what appears to be security attempting to remove them, and posted them to Twitch, but they were quickly deleted.

No Azure for Apartheid said protesters also deployed noisemakers attached to balloons prior to the sit-in, and posted notices reading, “The People’s Court Summons Bradford Lee Smith on Charges of Crimes Against Humanity.”

Two banners were also hung inside Building 34, one declaring it renamed to “Mai Ubeid Building” and another repeating No Azure for Apartheid’s demands:

  1. Cut Ties with Israel
  2. Call for an End to the Genocide and Forced Starvation
  3. Pay Reparations to the Palestinians
  4. End the Discrimination Against Workers

Current and former Microsoft workers are supporting the sit-in with a rally being held outside, during which copies of the document “We will not be cogs in the Israeli genocidal machine: a call for a Worker Intifada” were distributed. An 18-foot scroll displaying the signatures of more than 2,000 people who have signed No Azure for Apartheid’s online petition was also displayed.

The occupation of Smith’s office represents a significant escalation over previous protests, which began earlier this year with individual employees disrupting Microsoft’s 50th anniversary event and Build conference. Earlier this month, protesters set up an encampment in Microsoft’s East Campus Plaza, which was dispersed by police; the group returned the following day, and police subsequently arrested 18 protesters.

Microsoft has thus far refused to engage with the protesters but they seem to be having an impact, as pressure on the company to end its work with the Israeli government is growing. A group of Microsoft shareholders have demanded a report into the company’s “human rights due diligence” over allegations of war crime complicity in Gaza and some employees of Microsoft-owned studio Arkane Lyon have also called on the company to stop supporting the Israeli government. The BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanctions) movement has called for a boycott of Microsoft’s products due to its dealings with Israel.

A recent report by The Guardian has alleged that Israel is using Microsoft’s cloud services for mass surveillance of Palestinians. Microsoft has said that it’s “pursuing a thorough and independent review of new allegations first reported earlier this month about the purported use of its Azure platform in Israel.”

Israeli Cyber Official Arrested During Undercover Internet Crimes Against Children Sting

by admin August 18, 2025

A high-ranking member of Israel’s cybersecurity directorate was recently arrested in Las Vegas as part of an undercover sting operation involving internet crimes against children, according to the State Department.

A joint operation between city police and the FBI that targeted child sex predators resulted in the arrest of Tom Artiom Alexandrovich, a man who, according to many news outlets, has been identified as a member of Israel’s National Cyber Directorate, which operates out of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.

Mediate previously reported that Alexandrovich’s since-deleted LinkedIn profile had also identified him as an official with the agency. The Jerusalem Post claims that Alexandrovich worked “in a technical role at the Cyber Directorate,” and KLAS-TV, a CBS news affiliate, also claims to have confirmed that an “Israeli government official was one of eight people arrested” during the weekend sting, and that Alexandrovich was in the city for “a cyber event.” Blackhat, the well-known cybersecurity conference, recently took place in Vegas.

Additionally, the U.S. government appears to have confirmed much of this information. The X account for the State Department’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs posted about the arrest, in an apparent effort to dispel internet rumors that the government had intervened on Alexandrovich’s behalf. “The Department of State is aware that Tom Artiom Alexandrovich, an Israeli citizen, was arrested in Las Vegas and given a court date for charges related to soliciting sex electronically from a minor,” the post states. “He did not claim diplomatic immunity and was released by a state judge pending a court date. Any claims that the U.S. government intervened are false.” When reached for comment by Gizmodo, the State Department simply referred us to its tweet.

Alexandrovich faces a charge of luring a child with a computer for sex acts, KLAS writes. He was allowed to leave after having posted a $10,000 bail, the outlet adds, citing court records.

An archived Haaretz report states that a “senior official in Israel’s National Cyber Directorate” had been questioned in Vegas for alleged online solicitation of a minor, but does not identify the official by name. However, the report also includes a statement from Israel’s cyber directorate, which admits that one of its employees was questioned by authorities during a trip to the U.S. The statement reads: “The employee updated the directorate that during his trip to the United States, he was questioned by U.S. authorities on matters unrelated to his work, and he returned to Israel on his scheduled date. The directorate has not yet received additional details through official channels. If and when such details are received, the directorate will act accordingly.”

Gizmodo reached out to the Las Vegas Police Department and the Israeli government for more information.
