Alabama linebacker Jah-Marien Latham is being evaluated at a hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, after suffering a neck injury in practice Tuesday.

Crimson Tide coach Kalen DeBoer said in a statement that Latham had “full feeling and motion” and was being treated at UAB St. Vincent’s Hospital.

“He is currently undergoing a thorough medical assessment to determine the next steps in his recovery,” DeBoer said in the statement. “Our top priority is Jah’s health and well-being. We are in close contact with his family and the medical team and will continue to support him in every way possible. Further updates will be provided as appropriate.”

Latham, a sixth-year senior from Reform, Alabama, started the Tide’s opener at Florida State on Sept. 30. Latham had two tackles before leaving because of a lower-body injury in the Seminoles’ 31-17 victory. He didn’t play in Alabama’s victories over UL Monroe and Wisconsin.

Sophomore Qua Russaw started in Latham’s starting spot the past two games, and sophomore Yhonzae Pierre has seen increased playing time as well.

The No. 17 Crimson Tide plays at No. 5 Georgia on Saturday night (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC).

Brand New Day’ Pauses Production After Tom Holland Injury

by admin September 23, 2025

Tom Holland recently suffered a stunt-related injury, which left the fate of Spider-Man: Brand New Day temporarily hanging in the balance of a web’s thread. And now it’s official: the Destin Daniel Cretton-helmed film will be going on pause, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The move comes as a way to give Holland seven days to recover from the injury while avoiding having to shoot without him. The trade described the injury as “a mild concussion,” and will be giving the franchise’s current Peter Parker a break from his Spider-Man commitments out of an abundance of caution. Holland was still able to attend a charity event on behalf of the Brother’s Trust, an organization the actor runs with his brothers.

While Spider-Man: Brand New Day shoot will be affected for a week, it’s not expected to impact the release of the film. As of now, the Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios feature is still on track to meet its release date. So we will be watching the continuation of a world where no one knows who Peter Parker is, let alone that he’s Spider-Man, come 2026.

Of course, even just under a year away, much of what Brand New Day is about is being kept under wraps. The film will bring back memory-wiped MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon) along with an extensive new ensemble of new and familiar Marvel Cinematic Universe players. Jon Bernthal will be featured as Frank Castle, aka the Punisher, alongside Avengers mainstay Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk. Better Call Saul actor Michael Mando will also reprise his role as the Scorpion from Spider-Man: Homecoming. Newcomers to the MCU include Stranger Things star Sadie Sink in a major undisclosed role, and Emmy-winning Severance star Trammell Tillman.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still slated to open in theaters on July 31, 2026.

The Boring Company Reportedly Halts Tunneling in Las Vegas After ‘Crushing Injury’

by admin September 12, 2025

Elon Musk’s tunneling firm, The Boring Company, has temporarily halted work at one of the company’s sites in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to a new report from Fortune. The disruption is related to a “crushing injury” sustained by one of the workers at the site, according to the magazine, which spoke to local firefighters.

Emergency responders received a call around 10:12 p.m. local time on Wednesday night about an “industrial/machinery incident,” according to Fortune. Employees at the worksite in Las Vegas told responders that someone had “sustained a crushing injury,” according to Fortune, but further details haven’t been released. The Clark County Fire Department didn’t immediately return a phone call on Thursday.

Fortune reports that an 18-person rescue crew used a crane to lift the worker out of the tunnel. The worker was transported to a local hospital and is reportedly stable, though the extent of their injuries is unclear at this point.

The incident reportedly happened in the tunnel that’s being expanded to reach the Las Vegas Airport. The Boring Company first opened a tunnel that brings people along a 1.5-mile route at the convention center in 2021 and has made efforts to expand ever since. Musk’s original idea for a mass transit system, known as the Loop, was first planned to carry 16 people in driverless pods at more than 600 miles per hour.

But that plan was downsized for Las Vegas. Visitors now travel at slow speeds of just 35 miles per hour in regular Tesla vehicles that anyone can buy. They also have human drivers, far from the autonomous rapid transit idea that was originally pitched. The Boring Company now has 3.5 miles of tunnels under Las Vegas and is expanding its operations in an effort to shuttle more people in a larger network under the city. The company has gained approvals for up to 68 miles.

The Boring Company has previously been cited for worker safety issues in Nevada, according to investigations by ProPublica, Bloomberg, and Fortune. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) reportedly took a more “hands-on” approach to safety after injuries in 2024, according to Fortune. There were at least eight citations from Nevada’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, including the “collapse of a large concrete bin in front of the Las Vegas Convention Center.”

The Boring Company didn’t reply to an email about the incident on Thursday. Gizmodo will update this article when we hear back.

Lynx’s Napheesa Collier scores 32 in return from ankle injury

by admin August 25, 2025

Napheesa Collier resumed her MVP campaign Sunday night as she returned from an ankle sprain that had kept her out for the past three weeks. It didn’t take much time for her to get back up to speed as she scored 32 points on 11-of-16 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds in the Minnesota Lynx’s 97-84 win over the Indiana Fever.

“I had to knock some of the rust off,” Collier said, joking that teammate Courtney Williams would have finished with 11 assists if she hadn’t missed her first few shots. “It feels like you’re on the outside when you’re not playing. I’m having so much FOMO, so it feels good to be on the court with them again.”

Williams added, “I told [Collier] before the game, I’m sick of taking 18, 20 shots. I’m ready to be back to 10 or 12. So it feels good to have Phee back.”

Collier was injured in the third quarter of the Lynx’s Aug. 2 game against the Las Vegas Aces. Imaging revealed she avoided a major injury, sources told ESPN, and the issue ultimately held her out seven games. Minnesota went 5-2 without Collier during that stretch.

The crowd erupted as Collier was introduced into the starting lineup, and her team was just as excited to have her back. Collier managed to play 31 minutes.

“She’s that darn good,” Minnesota coach Cheryl Reeve said. “Obviously, she was ready to play. Having her play makes it easier for everyone else. We can all settle back into our roles and things we like to do.”

Since Collier went down, the Lynx made three roster additions, including trading for DiJonai Carrington at the trade deadline.

Now finally healthy, Williams called this Minnesota team “a real problem” as they head toward the postseason.

The Lynx found themselves trailing the Fever by as much as 10 points in the first quarter but slowly clawed their way back in. Then, in the final two minutes of the second quarter, the Lynx put together an 11-0 run to retake the lead.

With 77 seconds to go in the first half, Collier hit a turnaround jump shot — her 13th and 14th points of the night — to give Minnesota its first lead since the first 20 seconds of the game. When the Lynx returned from halftime, they never slowed back down.

“It all stemmed from being more active defensively, that’s how we got going,” Reeve said. “We just had more flow … that second quarter, we felt that shift. We felt that shift in how we were playing, and I felt like we held that for most of the rest of the game.”

With just seven games left on their regular-season schedule, the Lynx (30-7) have the best record in the WNBA and hold a six-game advantage over the Atlanta Dream in the standings. The Lynx are the only team to have clinched a playoff spot.

TRENDING RUMORS

– While Arsenal are closing on a £67.5 million deal to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze from under the noses of Tottenham Hotspur, they are also weighing up a move for Aston Villa attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers, claims The Sun. A potential long-term injury to striker Kai Havertz mas made attempt to sign Rogers more likely, but the Gunners had already been closely monitoring the 23-year-old as they looked for somebody to challenge Gabriel Martinelli on the left wing. Villa are determined to keep the England international and are no longer under financial pressure, so they are unlikely to entertain any offers under £80m.

— Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund has made it clear to Napoli, RB Leipzig, AC Milan and any other interested clubs that he wants any loan deal to include an obligation to sign for them permanently rather than an option, reports Fabrizio Romano. The 22-year-old had been keen to stay at Old Trafford but now wants to feel the confidence of his new club if he is to leave. Elsewhere, Corriere dello Sport state that Højlund is the most likely option to replace Napoli’s injured striker Romelu Lukaku.

– Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is now on Internazionale’s shortlist, reports TEAMtalk, which adds that Roma are also still in picture after initially being rejected by the 25-year-old. Sancho could look for a loan to keep his options open as a free agent in 2026, with Borussia Dortmund and Juventus the frontrunners. Turkish side Besiktas are also interested in the winger, who has no future at Old Trafford after signing for €85m from Dortmund in 2021.

– Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott is RB Leipzig’s top option to replace midfielder Xavi Simons, says Florian Plettenberg, with the Netherlands international being set to join Chelsea for around €60m after the Bundesliga opener against Bayern Munich. Leipzig have already agreed personal terms with Elliott — who was a standout performer in England’s U21 Euros win this summer — and the Reds would let him leave if they received a suitable offer.

– Brentford have rejected Newcastle United’s improved offer of £35m, plus £5m in add-ons, to sign striker Yoane Wissa, as reported by The Athletic. Brentford haven’t given any club a valuation for the transfer of the 28-year-old, who wants to make the move to St James’ Park, but clearly want more than £40m. Newcastle had previously had a £25m offer rejected, while Nottingham Forest have seen two bids rejected since last January but have now moved on to other targets.

CONFIRMED DEALS

– Bournemouth have completed the €21m signing of Bayer Leverkusen winger Amine Adli.

EXPERT TAKE

ESPN’s Sam Tighe on why Arsenal are unlikely to sign both Eberechi Eze and Morgan Rogers.

It’s no surprise that Arsenal have reignited their Eze interest — perhaps the surprise was that they let it go cold, after clearly doing a lot of groundwork on the deal in early summer — and Rogers, who was just crowned PFA Young Player of the Year, is a player of such potential, he’ll be on everyone’s watchlist.

The players share some distinct similarities: They’re both exciting, dynamic, ball-carrying forwards who can play across the attacking midfield line (although Eze rarely plays on the right); they both cut their teeth in the EFL Championship, making them relatively late bloomers at the top level; and they’re both homegrown, which always helps with squad registration.

Eze, four years Rogers’ senior, is understandably a much more polished footballer. The highlight reel shows 45 Premier League goal contributions in the last three seasons; the deep dive reveals how often he makes the right choice in possession, which is a truly valuable trait.

Rogers is fairly inexperienced for a 23-year-old these days, but is catching up fast. His 40-yard runs with the ball are thrilling, but he does lose the ball a lot too — he ranked in the 6th percentile last season for mis-controls (3.29 per 90) and the 13th percentile for times dispossessed (2.14 per 90).

Eze is ready for a big step; Rogers less so. Having already signed six senior players this summer, it’s highly unlikely the Gunners can acquire both, and if it is to be Eze, it’s likely the right call.

– Girona are positioning themselves to bring in Barcelona goalkeeper Inaki Pena, but there is also competition from Como and Celta Vigo among others. (Mundo Deportivo)
