One Of Steam’s Most-Wishlisted Games Indefinitely Delayed Days Before Launch

by admin October 5, 2025

Kingmakers was due out in Early Access in just a few days but it’s apparently not ready yet. The medieval sandbox shooter has been indefinitely delayed as the team at Redemption Road works on getting everything working as intended. “We just need a bit more time on content polish before we feel good about charging money for it,” the studio wrote in an announcement on Friday.

Odds are you’ve seen a bit of Kingmakers here or there over the years, even if you didn’t know it. The multiplayer game features sprawling maps and giant armies and is supposed to facilitate real-time destruction as you engage in everything from medieval combat to blowing up a bunch of armor-clad knights with tanks. The game’s impressive physics simulation helped it go viral on social media, land a big trailer at Summer Game Fest this year, and become the sixth most-wishlisted game on Steam. So it’s surprising to see it pulled from launch at the last minute.

“After much contemplation, we realize that the scheduled Kingmakers launch on October 8 will no longer be possible,” the team announced today. “We want to apologize to all of the fans who are eagerly anticipating this game. We are sorry for letting you down.”

The rest of the message goes on to try to explain why the game is being indefinitely delayed. TL;DR: Kingmakers is ambitions and delivering on that is hard!

“We currently have tens of thousands of soldiers, each with AI and pathfinding that rivals what you’d expect from an AAA third-person shooter,” Redemption Road states. “When you walk away from a battle, it continues to play out. Nothing is faked. We have giant 6-story castles where every room can be entered and every wall, floor, and ceiling destroyed. When you build a lumbermill, it’s a real place that can be entered, or, in an enemy invasion, turned into a combat arena.”

The studio doesn’t really go into much more detail than that but promises that a deep-dive overview will be livestreamed soon to update players on where things are at. That makes it sound like the delay won’t just be a couple of weeks or months. Will it still be out before the end of 2026? We’ll see. “We’re making sure everyone who buys the game is enthralled and feels like their money was well spent,” the developers wrote.

Kingmakers delayed indefinitely as developer needs “more time before we feel good about charging money for it”

by admin October 4, 2025

Redemption Road’s time-travelling bring-an-assault-rifle-to-a-medieval-sword-fight shooter and strategy game, Kingmakers, has been indefinitely delayed.

Redemption stated it pushed the release to ensure it does not “cut any planned features for the sake of getting it out of the door earlier” and apologised for “letting [players] down”.

Kingmakers – Early Access Release Date Trailer.Watch on YouTube

“After much contemplation, we realise that the scheduled Kingmakers launch on October 8 will no longer be possible. We want to apologise to all of the fans who are eagerly anticipating this game. We are sorry for letting you down,” the studio said in a statement posted to social media.

“Why is Kingmakers being delayed? In short, it’s an incredibly ambitious, uncompromising game, and we don’t want to cut any planned features, for the sake of getting it out the door earlier. Our goal, from the start, has been to create something that’s nothing like anything else on the market, in terms of gameplay, scale, scope, and interactivity.”

The statement goes on to say that Redemption Road “pushed the Unreal Engine 4 codebase to its absolute limits”, while still providing “true 60fps to mid-range PCs, without the need for fake frames”.

“We are an 80% engineering team, who got into this business to push technological barriers,” the team added, before describing how the game has “tens of thousands of soldiers” each with AI and pathfinding that “rivals what you’d expect from a AAA person shooter” and how players can enter every room in its six-story castles.

“Every mission takes place in a giant, massive map that each player on the server is free to explore – with or without their own personal army of thousands,” Redemption added. “We set out to do all of this, with full drop-in/drop-out four-player multiplayer support, and we have. We just need a little bit more time on content polish before we feel good about charging money for it.”

The statement closed on promising that the studio would shortly present a half-hour-long deep dive on Kingmaker’s gameplay, “with a comprehensive overview of everything we’ve been working on”.

Donlan was certainly impressed when Kingsmakers memorable teaser dropped, writing: “Over the last decade or so, alongside the bigger, fewer bets publishers have made – which has also often led to formula, to conservatism – an onward march in graphical fidelity means that a certain kind of game has become obsessed with the details. I love details, and I love that games do this.”

Kingmakers may not be out yet, but it’s already secured a movie adaptation. The studio said it was “absolutely thrilled” that the unreleased game was “making its way to the big screen” in partnership with publisher tinyBuild and Story Kitchen.

Apple TV+ indefinitely delays its domestic extremism thriller ‘The Savant’

by admin September 24, 2025

Apple has delayed the release of its new series The Savant just three days before it was supposed to premiere on September 26, Deadline reports. The series follows an investigator, played by Jessica Chastain, who infiltrates a domestic extremist group in the US. Apple hasn’t provided a new release date for the show.

“After careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone The Savant,” the company shared in a statement to Deadline. “We appreciate your understanding and look forward to releasing the series at a future date.” The timing of the sudden delay, and the lack of explanation for why the company is delaying the show, could be telling. Disney made a similar knee-jerk reaction in placing Jimmy Kimmel Live! on indefinite hiatus following a joke Kimmel made about the reaction to the killing of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk.

Given that The Savant likely focuses on preventing acts of political violence, it might make you wonder who Apple is worried its show will offend. But it’s also entirely possible that the company is trying to avoid people making any kind of association between its TV show and a very public assassination.

Apple generally avoids rocking the boat whenever possible, particularly when it could hurt its business interests. The Problem With Jon Stewart was reportedly cancelled when Jon Stewart wanted to cover topics Apple deemed controversial, like China and artificial intelligence. Apple does business in China, so it seems likely the company was skittish about airing anything that could be viewed as criticism, even if having difficult conversations was the premise of Stewart’s show. The decision to pull The Savant, even if despite reading like the company is worried about offending right-wing extremists, was likely made from a similar place of caution.

Borderlands 4 Indefinitely Delayed On Switch 2 As Fans Get Refunds

by admin September 23, 2025

Borderlands 4 was supposed to kick off the Nintendo Switch 2’s first big fall season but it’s now been indefinitely delayed as Gearbox Entertainment works to deliver the “best possible experience” for fans on the new portable console. It’s a surprisingly last-minute move for a game that was supposed to ship in less than two weeks, on October 3. The pivot comes after weeks of heated debate over the loot shooter’s performance on other platforms.

“We need to share that the release of Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 is being delayed,” the studio wrote in an announcement on Tuesday evening. “We do not take this decision lightly, but are committed to ensuring we deliver the best possible experience to our fans, and the game needs additional development and polish time to do that.”

Greetings, Vault Hunters – We need to share that the release of Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 is being delayed. We do not take this decision lightly, but are committed to ensuring we deliver the best possible experience to our fans, and the game needs additional development…

— Borderlands (@Borderlands) September 23, 2025

The studio said it hopes to peg the new release date for Borderlands 4 on Switch 2 to the arrival of cross saves for all versions of the game, but didn’t provide a release window for that either. “We will update you all on the new release timing once we’ve fully adjusted our plans,” the announcement reads. In the meantime, all digital pre-orders on the eShop have been canceled in accordance with a Nintendo policy, and will be refunded starting September 26.

The sudden delay comes after lots of complaints about Borderlands 4‘s performance on PC as well as some concerns on other consoles, including an apparent memory leak that makes the game run worse if you play it continuously for long stretches of time without quitting out and relaunching. The game is capped at 30fps on Switch 2, and initial hands-on impressions with the game suggested it ran well enough, though experiences on Steam Deck have reportedly been subpar. Digital Foundry’s analysis of the game across various platforms has also been less than glowing.

Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford has been all over social media since the sci-fi sequel launched earlier this month, but hasn’t yet weighed in on the delay as of publishing time.

Balatro Creator Pushes Back 1.1 Release Indefinitely

by admin September 14, 2025

The overwhelming success of Balatro was one of the biggest stories of 2024 and a life-changing event for solo dev LocalThunk. However, LocalThunk is still only one man and he’s revealed that his previously promised Balatro 1.1 update will not be arriving this year.

LocalThunk explained the reasons for the delay in a lengthy message on his official site, but it ultimately boils down to the name of his post: “I’m Slow.” He apologized to players for the delay before expressing his desire to avoid repeating the crunch mode of 12-hour days he put in when Balatro was approaching launch and stated that he prefers to treat the work as a hobby rather than a job.

“I still love drawing my silly jokers,” wrote LocalThunk. “I carry around a notebook that is now teeming with ideas to implement or test in the game, and thankfully I still consider this my hobby, but the prospect of rushing the work and going back into crunch mode to get it out this year just felt terrible. I am working slowly, but I like it that way. I love getting sucked into rabbit holes and I don’t like trying to force things creatively.”

LocalThunk noted that he only recently reached 100% of the achievements in his own game, which made him excited about the prospect of doing it again after the 1.1 update is complete. He also assured fans that it will happen, but the 1.1 update won’t be released until it’s ready.

Balatro was one of GameSpot’s best games of 2024, and it also lined up awards at the 2025 DICE Awards, New York Game Awards 2025, and The Game Awards 2024 before winning Game of the Year at the Game Developers Choice Awards.
