Hyperliquid price at record high; USDH vote and 80% fee cuts fuel rally

by admin September 8, 2025

Hyperliquid price reached an all-time high, following news of a stablecoin launch and a major institutional vote of confidence.

Summary

  • Hyperliquid reached an ATH following several major announcements
  • Singapore-based fintech and trading platform Lion Group ditches Solana and SUI for Hype
  • The protocol is gearing up for major technical upgrades and its own stablecoin launch

On Monday, September 8, Hyperliquid (HYPE) price was up 7.5%, reaching an all-time high of $51.89. With a market cap of $16 billion, HYPE is now the eleventh-largest crypto asset, ahead of Chainlink (LINK). The move followed several significant developments for the DEX, including a major nod of confidence from an institutional player, network upgrades, and stablecoin plans.

For one, on Monday, September 8, Singapore-based trading platform Lion Group announced that it will convert Solana (SOL) and Sui (SUI) holdings into HYPE tokens. The Nasdaq-listed firm specializing in alternative investments stated that HYPE offers better long-term value creation than Solana and SUI. They also called the token “the most compelling opportunity” in DeFi.

Lion Group stated that it will convert its SOL and SUI positions into HYPE over time, buying at times when the token is down. Notably, Lion Group’s shift to Hyperliquid signals the institutional legitimacy the token has acquired, showing to some that it is now “safe” to invest. It also follows the decision from the asset manager BitGo to launch HyperEMV custodial solutions in the United States.

Hyperliquid to launch USDH stablecoin

Another significant development that pushed Hyperliquid to its ATH is the latest governance vote, which proposed the launch of the USDH. The Hyperliquid-based stablecoin, according to the company, is supposed to launch as part of the protocol’s next major upgrade.

The upgrade, announced on September 5, will cut fees for certain trading pairs by 80% and reduce rebates. According to the DEX, this move would boost liquidity on the high-frequency trading DEX.

Lion Group bets on Hyperliquid as it converts SOL and SUI to HYPE

by admin September 8, 2025

Lion Group Holding, the Nasdaq-listed trading platform operator, is making a huge bet on Hyperliquid as it announces a reallocation of its Solana and Sui assets.

Summary

  • Lion Group Holding Ltd. plans to convert its Solana and Sui assets to Hyperliquid’s HYPE.
  • The company says its move aligns with desire to tap into Hyperliquid’s growth potential following BitGo’s integration of HyperEVM

In an announcement on Monday, Lion Group said it’s taking a fresh bet on Hyperliquid (HYPE),the decentralized exchange platform that has recently attracted significant attention. Specifically, Lion Group Holding Ltd., which offers an all-in-one trading platform that includes over-the-counter stocks, options, and futures, will reallocate all of its current holdings of Solana (SOL) and Sui (SUI) assets to HYPE.

To accomplish this, the company will adopt an accumulation strategy by which it converts all of its SOL and SUI tokens into HYPE. Lion Group plans to undertake this over the coming months, with its decision to pivot to a Hyperliquid treasury strategy coming amid an institutional milestone for the DEX platform, with crypto custody firm BitGo enabling HyperEVM custody for users in the United States.

“We believe Hyperliquid represents the most compelling opportunity in decentralized finance, with its on-chain order book and efficient trading infrastructure,” Wilson Wang, chief executive officer of LGHL, said. “By shifting our holdings from SOL and SUI to HYPE through a disciplined accumulation process, we aim to enhance portfolio efficiency and position the company for sustained growth in the crypto sector.”

Tapping into Hyperliquid’s growth potential

BitGo announced support for HyperEVM in late August, noting that the expansion effort will allow qualified users to tap into BitGo’s custody services to benefit from the growth potential of HyperEVM. One of the key assets in this ecosystem is HYPE, a token that is getting new attention after Hyperliquid revealed plans for its native stablecoin.

According to LGHL, the move to shift SOL and SUI into HYPE will allow it to optimize its crypto portfolio by leveraging Hyperliquid’s potential as a high-performance layer-1 blockchain. Hyperliquid is also a leading decentralized perpetual futures exchange.

Lion Group will take advantage of market volatility to accumulate HYPE at the best prices. The token currently trades around $51.90.

Hyperliquid Validators to Decide USDH Ticker in First Governance Test Following Pushback

by admin September 8, 2025

In brief

  • Validators will decide the USDH ticker in an on-chain vote scheduled for September 14.
  • Hyperliquid claims the ticker carries no special privileges, while analysts see it as a push to reduce reliance on USDC.
  • Analyst estimates suggest USDH could divert $5.5 billion from USDC and generate $220 million annually for HYPE holders.

Hyperliquid, a decentralized exchange and Layer-1 chain, is slated to place the USDH ticker through a validator vote this month, testing the role of onchain governance in shaping its stablecoin strategy.

In an update posted Sunday to clarify guidelines, the team behind Hyperliquid said the vote concerns only the ticker and does not grant USDH “any special privileges by nature of its ticker name,” adding that USDH “will be only one of many such stablecoins” for its chain.

USDH is the project’s proposed native U.S. dollar stablecoin, intended to serve as an alternative to bridged assets like USDC.

The proposal deadline is September 10 at 10:00 UTC, with validators expected to declare by September 11 before voting takes place on September 14 between 10:00 and 11:00 UTC.

Hyperliquid also said that quote assets, the base currencies used to denominate trading pairs, will become permissionless after upcoming technical upgrades, allowing anyone to create new pairs without approval.

It’s worth noting that the Foundation’s validators will abstain from the vote by aligning with whichever team secures the most non-Foundation support, a mechanism meant to reduce perceptions of centralized influence while keeping the process stake-based.

Still, the vote comes amid unease from some existing stablecoin teams on Hyperliquid, who argue that reopening the USDH ticker risks disadvantaging protocols that were previously forced to build under different names.

Testing opposition

Observers told Decrypt the USDH vote could be a test of Hyperliquid’s effort to use governance to reduce stablecoin dependence.

By putting the ticker to a vote, Hyperliquid is showing that it is “consciously positioning itself in opposition to the centralized control characteristic of many exchanges,” Jaehyun Ha, research analyst at quantitative trading firm Presto, told Decrypt. Such a move elevates “community oversight and transparency as central pillars of its strategy,” he added.

The governance model also “reinforces Hyperliquid’s narrative that it is building a “Hyperliquid-aligned, compliant USD stablecoin” supporting its ecosystem, instead of “relying on external issuers,” Ha said.

The economic design of USDH is also central to its intended role within the Hyperliquid ecosystem.

Hyperliquid’s planned stablecoin aims to cut reliance on USDC and recycle reserve income, with estimates suggesting a 15% liquidity share could divert $5.5 billion and yield $220 million annually for HYPE holders, Ha said.

At this scale of capture, USDH could transform from a stablecoin to become a “powerful economic lever” within Hyperliquid’s ecosystem, Ha added.

Hyperliquid Moves Forward to Launch Proprietary Stablecoin USDH

by admin September 5, 2025

Decentralized exchange Hyperliquid (HYPE) is preparing to launch its own U.S. dollar stablecoin, according to a Friday announcement from the Hyperliquid Foundation on the platform’s Discord server.

The protocol has reserved the ticker USDH, which validators will soon vote to allocate through an on-chain governance process, the announcement read. Teams interested in deploying USDH can submit proposals, and the winning group will be selected by validator quorum, the post added.

“The USDH ticker is well-suited for a Hyperliquid-first, Hyperliquid-aligned, and compliant USD stablecoin,” it said.

Stablecoins are a crucial piece of infrastructure of crypto markets, serving as liquidity and trading pairs to settle most trades. It’s a $270 billion asset class, currently dominated by Tether’s USDT and Circle’s USDC. However, with regulation put into place such as the GENIUS Act in the U.S., industry players increasingly create their own token for their ecosystems. Popular crypto wallet MetaMask is launching a stablecoin with infrastructure provider M0, while payment firm Stripe created its own in-house stablecoin with Bridge.

Hyperliquid’s trading activity suggests there could be immediate demand. The exchange handled $398 billion in perpetual derivatives trading volume and $20 billion in spot trades last month, DefiLlama data shows. Circle’s USDC (USDC) currently dominates liquidity, making up 95% of the $5.6 billion stablecoin supply on the network.

By introducing its own stablecoin, Hyperliquid, in theory, could reduce dependency on Circle while capturing revenue from assets backing the token.

BitGo expands support to the Hyperliquid ecosystem with HyperEVM

by admin August 27, 2025

BitGo has announced support for HyperEVM, bringing secure access and custody for institutional users in the Hyperliquid ecosystem.

Summary

  • BitGo has expanded its custody solution to institutions participating in Hyperliquid’s HyperEVM.
  • The platform now supports HYPE custody, self-custody and governance.

BitGo said in an update that its custody solution was now live for Hyperliquid (HYPE), bringing access to HyperEVM to institutions.

The integration, BitGo noted, allows for qualified custody with institutional investors able to participate further in the leading on-chain trading ecosystem. Basically, users can tap into BitGo’s secure custody service as they interact with assets on the HyperEVM, including the native token HYPE.

Users can now have access via self-custody wallets, decentralized applications, as well as participate in governance. The platform’s products also include stablecoins, staking solutions, settlement, real-world assets, collateral, and wealth management.

BitGo’s support comes a few days after Anchorage Digital Bank added custody support to HYPE, integrating institutional-grade security into the HyperEVM.

Hyperliquid’s growth

HyperEVM is the Ethereum (ETH)-compatible smart contract layer of Hyperliquid, key to its decentralized finance traction. Currently, the Hyperliquid L1 has over $2.53 billion in total value locked and more than $5.58 billion in stablecoin market cap.

As interest in DeFi grows, BitGo’s support will allow institutional clients eyeing Hyperliquid to confidently participate in the platform’s ecosystem.

Meanwhile, as crypto.news highlighted on August 26, spot volumes on the platform soared to $3.5 billion on the day, marking a new 24-hour all-time high.

Notably, the surge to the new peak aligns with a spike in Bitcoin and Ethereum deposits. The milestone sees Hyperliquid rank as the second-largest trading venue for spot BTC on both centralized and decentralized exchanges.

Interest in HYPE as the Hyperliquid ecosystem grows has recently pushed open interest in the altcoin to a new all-time high. As of writing, data from Coinglass showed open interest at $2.17 billion.

Hyperliquid Grabs 80% of Perp DEX Market in One Year, Analysts Say

by admin August 23, 2025

Hyperliquid now controls roughly 80% of the decentralized perpetual futures market, highlighting its rapid dominance over competitors. However, this concentration raises concerns about sustainability and potential risks if trading volumes decline.

Summary

  • Hyperliquid has quickly become the leading decentralized perpetual futures platform, handling up to $30 billion in daily trades.
  • Its lean, self-funded team built a fast, execution-focused blockchain with fee-sharing incentives that attract traders and developers.
  • Despite rapid growth, risks like validator concentration, transparency gaps, and reliance on high trading volumes leave its future uncertain.

In just over a year, Hyperliquid has grown into the dominant player in decentralized perpetual futures, with Redstone estimating it controls about 80% of the market, trading volumes on par with big centralized exchanges, and fresh concerns over how long such concentrated activity can last.

At its peak, the platform processed as much as $30 billion in daily trades. That milestone, only a few decentralized exchanges have ever reached, despite being run by a lean team of just 11 people.

The platform, co-founded by Jeff Yan, a former Hudson River Trading quant and Harvard graduate, chose from the start to avoid venture capital, a decision that, combined with timing, gave Hyperliquid an opening it exploited faster than rivals.

Trading volume across decentralized exchanges | Source: CoinGecko

At the start of 2024, decentralized exchange dYdX had roughly 30% of trading volume across decentralized exchanges. By the end of that year, its share had fallen to around 7%, while Hyperliquid’s share stabilized above 65%, per CoinGecko’s data.

Much of Hyperliquid’s growth seems tied to execution. One-click trading, zero gas fees, and sub-second order finalization make it feel closer to a centralized exchange than most DEXs, which has helped attract both retail and professional traders.

“Built by a lean, self-funded team that refused to accept VC investors’ money, they’ve proven that technical excellence and community-first economics can outcompete well-funded competitors.”

RedStone

The platform runs on its own blockchain with HyperBFT, a consensus system designed to process hundreds of thousands of orders per second with settlement finality under a second. By focusing first on speed and reliability before expanding infrastructure, Hyperliquid appears to have earned credibility among traders faster than most peers.

Incentives and Revenue

The platform splits trading fees with its community. People who list new spot markets can keep up to half of the fees those trades generate. Developers who build user interfaces earn a share that can even exceed the protocol’s own cut. And those who launch perpetual markets share their fees with the investors who stake behind them.

This setup has pushed outside developers to build on the platform without needing grants or subsidies. They’ve already created tools to fill gaps like letting traders use one balance across different positions or borrow against their assets. The result is a growing ecosystem that competing decentralized exchanges haven’t been able to replicate.

Decentralized exchanges by trading volume | Source: DefiLlama

DefiLlama data shows Hyperliquid ranks third among decentralized exchanges by weekly trading volume, generating over $12 billion, behind only PancakeSwap and Uniswap. That surge has helped Hyperliquid produce more than $1 billion in annualized revenue, translating to an estimated $102.4 million per employee.

As previously reported by crypto.news, that figure exceeds Tether at $93 million, OnlyFans at $37.6 million, Nvidia at $3.6 million, and Cursor at $3.3 million.

Risks ahead

A joint report from OAK Research and GL Capital notes that despite Hyperliquid’s rapid growth, “several key milestones must still be met to validate [the valuation] thesis.”

“Centralization remains a concern, with only 16 validators, and the lack of transparency in the codebase could deter third-party developers. While full control over the infrastructure is a powerful model, it also exposes the platform to vulnerabilities, as demonstrated by the HLP incident.”

OAK Research and GL Capital

The platform’s reliance on sustained trading volume further amplifies risk. A prolonged bear market could temporarily depress returns and challenge the token buyback system that supports much of the HYPE ecosystem.

From a valuation perspective, analysts describe the opportunity as “asymmetric risk/reward,” with HYPE’s fair value estimated between $32 and $49 under conservative assumptions, which is about 86% of the top of that range, given that HYPE is trading at $42.

Hyperliquid has demonstrated rapid adoption, but it still faces multiple structural and market risks. Validator concentration, transparency gaps, reliance on high trading volumes, and execution-dependent growth all mean that results remain sensitive to both internal decisions and external market conditions.

Hyperliquid Takes 80% Of Defi Perps Market, Hits $30B Daily Volume

Hyperliquid Takes 80% of DeFi Perps Market, Hits $30B Daily Volume

by admin August 21, 2025

Hyperliquid has become the star of decentralized finance by taking more than 80% of the perpetuals market and handling over $30 billion in trades every single day, according to a new report from RedStone

This rise happened in only one year, which is very fast for any crypto platform. RedStone, notes Hyperliquid is now competing with some of the largest centralized exchanges because of its speed, its design, and the way it helps builders.

One of the main reasons for this growth is Hyperliquid’s order book. Most decentralized platforms struggle to keep up with centralized exchanges, but Hyperliquid’s order book runs fully on-chain and still gives the same speed and fair pricing.

Another reason is due to HIP-3, which is described as Hyperliquid’s permissionless market creation system. This system allows anyone to create new markets without any requirement from a third party.

HIP-3 also shares revenue with developers, and in many cases, these developers earn even more than the protocol itself. RedStone explained that this has encouraged many builders to join, which has turned Hyperliquid into one of the most creative and active communities in decentralized finance.

Hyperliquid also uses a special design made up of HyperCore and HyperEVM. This setup lets users try new financial ideas, such as tokenized perpetual positions and strategies that balance risk. It also gives tools for better liquidity, which is very important for smooth trading.

“Hyperliquid is setting a new standard,” the RedStone report said. It added that the platform’s design and community-driven approach are opening “unprecedented opportunities for builders and institutions alike.”

Meanwhile, there are numbers to back this up. According to data from DefiLlama, Hyperliquid has more than $2.2 billion locked on its network. In addition to that, it has processed $330 billion in total trading volume in the past 30 days.

What makes this story even more unusual is that Hyperliquid is not backed by large venture capital firms. Instead, it is run by a lean, self-funded team.

Hyperliquid Whale James Wynn on Market Crash, ‘I Pray You Bought The Dip’

by admin August 20, 2025

James Wynn, dubbed one of the most aggressive leverage traders in the crypto industry, has dropped a bold opinion on the current market outlook. In a post on X, Wynn, a Hyperliquid whale, reinforced the accumulation and HODL mentality on the crypto market.

James Wynn’s bold Ethereum leverage position

Wynn, known for taking massive leveraged positions on assets despite market fluctuations, appears bullish in his post.

The crypto trader stated, “I pray you bought the dip. If you sold it, you are one pathetic jeet, who simply does not deserve any financial success.”

The message in Wynn’s post triggers optimism for future market conditions. He might have insight into a possible market turnaround that could see prices going through the roof soon. Wynn’s emphasis on “buying the dip” indicates that crypto assets could record massive gains soon, creating a point of entry for those who did not buy more difficult.

I pray you bought the dip.

If you sold it you are one pathetic jeet.

Who simply does not deserve any financial success.

Regards,
J.Wynn 🫡

— James Wynn (@JamesWynnReal) August 20, 2025

The aggressive trader was critical of investors who panicked and sold at a loss when the market crashed. He believes they will miss out on future gains when the price recovers.

Wynn, who has been silent in the crypto space for a while now, recently returned with a 25x leveraged position on Ethereum. The crypto trader’s leveraged long position is set with a liquidation price of $4,152.8.

While this liquidation price is significantly risky due to Ethereum’s volatility, Wynn has always been aggressive with his bets.

Crypto community reacts to Wynn’s market outlook

As of press time, Ethereum is changing hands above its set price at $4,228.91, despite being down by 0.1% in the last 24 hours.

Similarly, Hyperliquid is trading down by 0.44% at $41.88 in the same time frame. However, investors and traders are active on the market, with trading volume significantly up by 18.05% at $239.88 million.

Meanwhile, users in the crypto space have reacted positively to Wynn’s message. They acknowledged the need to always take advantage of market dips to increase holdings for profitability.

Valantis DEX acquires stHYPE as Hyperliquid staking heats up

by admin August 20, 2025

Valantis has taken a decisive step in the liquid staking market with its acquisition of stHYPE, the second-largest staking protocol on Hyperliquid’s HyperEVM.

Summary

  • Valantis acquired stHYPE, the second-largest liquid staking token on Hyperliquid.
  • The deal integrates stHYPE with Valantis’ DEX, targeting deeper liquidity and modular yield features.
  • Competition with kHYPE sets the stage for an expanding liquid staking market.

Announced on Aug. 19, the deal unifies stHYPE under the Valantis ecosystem. It sets the stage for expanded yield opportunities, deeper liquidity, and a stronger roadmap for Hyperliquid’s (HYPE) decentralized finance environment.

Integration and roadmap

Following the acquisition, Valantis takes complete control of stHYPE’s development, operations, and communication. The shift begins with a foundation phase where stHYPE is migrated to CoreWriter, a system designed to enhance security and transparency by enabling improved monitoring of off-chain infrastructure.

Community incentives will also expand through integrator rewards, ensuring stHYPE continues to be widely adopted across Hyperliquid’s protocols. In the second phase, stHYPE will be transformed into a modular liquid staking token that can support multiple staking addresses and allow new permissionless interactions between DeFi and staking applications.

This modular base is expected to connect staking with trading, lending, and HyperCore’s derivatives markets, giving liquidity providers more ways to participate from a single HYPE deposit.

Hyperliquid staking landscape

stHYPE enters this new chapter at a time of growing competition within Hyperliquid. kHYPE, which commands over a billion dollars in total value locked, has surpassed it as the dominant LST.

Through the acquisition of stHYPE, Valantis hopes to close that gap by transforming its DEX into a hub for liquidity that vertically integrates trading and staking. The strategy also expands the scope of STEX pools, which already support efficient swaps and lending market integrations without waiting through staking withdrawal queues.

Hyperliquid’s liquid staking market appears to be changing, with protocols now competing not only on staking yields but also on depth of liquidity, DeFi integration, and the range of services provided. Valantis sees the merger with stHYPE as an opportunity to gain a stronger presence in a market that continues to attract new participants and innovations.
