World of Warcraft is getting player housing in December, ahead of Midnight expansion launch

by admin October 3, 2025

Blizzard has announced that player housing will be coming to World of Warcraft starting 2nd December, ahead of the Midnight expansion launch.

This initial rollout for housing will not be feature-complete, with the full suite of mechanics arriving when it enters the game proper at Midnight’s launch sometime in 2026. With the housing release in December, players will be able to buy a plot of land, establish a neighbourhood with other players, and begin designing your home with a selection of decor items.

Future updates to housing will include hundreds of decorations, including some furnishings that come from older achievements and content from prior expansions such as World of Warcraft: Legion Order Hall completion.

In addition, players will be able to level up their houses over time, which provides increased interior and exterior decor placement budget, fixture budget, and room placement budget. Neighbourhoods can be both private and public, allowing those from the same guild to build up an estate of sorts together within a variety of biomes.

Not only that, but neighbourhoods will be able to participate in endeavors. These are monthly neighbourhood events that provide exclusive decor to use on participants’ homes. As such, some level of community collaboration is intended for the housing system.

World of Warcraft: Midnight is the second part of a three-part trilogy, which started with The War Within last year. It’ll take players back to Silvermoon city, where the Blood Elves are having a rough time fending off void ne’er-do-wells. In addition players will be able to play as the Haranir as an allied race, a faction of note throughout The War Within’s narrative.

When Blizzard first announced housing it did so with a subtle jab at Final Fantasy 14, another popular MMO with its own housing system and housing-related problems. It’s worth noting that unlike Final Fantasy 14, housing isn’t limited in World of Warcraft, so players won’t be unable to get a house come December, which is good!

World of Warcraft’s player housing won’t lock out casual players: ‘We’re not gonna put a beautiful bookcase behind killing a raid boss’

by admin August 25, 2025

When I heard player housing is coming to World of Warcraft, I immediately thought of the sheer amount of stuff in the game that could find its way into your home. Blizzard could reward housing items like they do rare mounts for achieving some of the most grindy or challenging things in the game. It could be a real time sink.

But thankfully that doesn’t seem like that’s the direction Blizzard wants to go in when it comes to collecting decorations. Speaking to IGN at Gamescom, game director Ion Hazzikostas said they won’t be locked behind “content that is too hardcore.”

“There may be distinct trophies or things that you can earn for being the best raider on your server or being one of the best dungeon players in the game,” he said, “but we’re not gonna put a beautiful bookcase behind killing a raid boss.”

I for one am glad that Blizzard has drawn this line: You shouldn’t have to be good at raiding at the highest levels to have a fancy pad. Limiting high-level rewards to trophies is a smart way to let players celebrate their achievements without forcing people to play the game in ways they might not enjoy.

This theme of unrestrained creativity with WoW’s player housing is what has me and a lot of other people pretty excited for it to drop (in an early form) with the upcoming Midnight expansion. Decorations can be dyed, scaled up or down in size, rotated, and clipped into other objects in any way you want. You can take your entire house and save the blueprint to share with other players too. Other games with housing, like Final Fantasy 14, aren’t nearly as customizable.

Blizzard has spent the last year hyping playing housing up and we’ll finally get to try it with the launch of the final patch for the current expansion, The War Within. Anyone who buys Midnight will have access to it, and Blizzard says it will be updating it and adding new items to it for the foreseeable future.

Japanese 3D Housing Firm Plans Bitcoin Buy After NFT Housing Initiative

by admin August 19, 2025

Japan-based 3D printed housing firm Lib Work Co. has become the latest non-crypto native company to buy Bitcoin for its corporate treasury, coming just a month after launching an initiative that uses non-fungible tokens to store house designs.

In a Monday statement following its board meeting, Lib Work announced plans to purchase 500 million Japanese yen ($3.3 million) worth of Bitcoin (BTC) as a hedge against “inflationary trends” in Japan and the risks of “holding assets only in cash.”

“Therefore, our company has decided to adopt a phased approach to acquisition and holding, in response to these risks and to prepare for future growth areas with overseas operators,” the firm said.

Three-month Bitcoin buying spree

Lib Work will buy Bitcoin in a series of purchases from crypto exchanges starting in September and continuing until December, while also establishing a risk management system, according to its statement.

At current prices, one Bitcoin is worth around $115,377, meaning the company could buy roughly 28 for $3.3 million, making it 105 on the list of top Bitcoin treasury companies, overtaking French payment provider BD multimedia.

It comes only a month after Lib Work launched an NFT-backed 3D printed housing initiative to store blueprints on the blockchain and use Bitcoin as a payment method.

First NFT house blueprint goes live

Lib Work said in a July 25 statement that one of its house designs, a Lib Earth House Model B, was issued as an NFT and aims to protect the intellectual property and to act as an ownership certificate linked to the physical home.

The NFT can store the house’s ID, history, and ownership information on the blockchain to ensure buyers hold exclusive design rights and prevent unauthorized blueprint plagiarism.

“Because 3D printed houses are based on digital designs, protecting the rights to these design files and managing their licenses is essential,” Lib Work said.

“Currently, blockchain technology and NFTs are expanding beyond the art and music industries into real estate and intellectual property sectors.”

NFT blueprints could help solve building challenges

In recent years, the construction industry has faced labor shortages and soaring material costs, which, according to Lib Work, show the “limitations of traditional construction methods.”

The company said 3D printing construction methods and asset digitalization could help solve some of these challenges by reducing labor, time, costs and “creating new international housing markets for the metaverse and Web3 era.”

“By creating NFTs for 3D printed houses, Lib Work will build new housing distribution mechanisms for investors and users worldwide, actively promoting international brand value and expansion into new markets.”

Lib Work was founded on Aug. 1, 1997. The firm changed its name in April 2018 and started focusing on building 3D printed homes.

It mainly sells detached houses and real estate using the internet and virtual reality, according to its company profile.
