ADI Chain to join ZKsync Elastic Network, host UAE dirham stablecoin

by admin October 1, 2025

ZKsync has welcomed ADI Chain—the first blockchain built with its Airbender technology and hosting the upcoming UAE dirham-backed stablecoin—into its Elastic Network.

Summary

  • ADI Chain is the first blockchain built with ZKsync’s Airbender technology, delivering Ethereum block proofs in ~35 seconds.
  • Testnet went live on August 21, giving developers early access; mainnet expected soon.
  • ADI Chain will host the UAE stablecoin initiative and serve as the platform for a dirham-backed digital currency being developed by Abu Dhabi institutions.

ZKsync (ZK) has announced the integration of the ADI Chain into its Elastic Network, a modular system of rollups and validiums that allows multiple chains to interoperate and share liquidity while keeping verification costs low.

With this move, ADI joins other active chains on the network, including ZKsync Era, Abstract, Sophon, Lens, Zero Network, Cronos zkEVM, ZKcandy, and Wonder.

What stands out about ADI Chain is that it’s the first chain built using ZKsync’s new Airbender technology, a high-speed, open-source RISC-V prover. Airbender is designed to deliver Ethereum block proofs in approximately 35 seconds using a single GPU, significantly improving throughput and reducing costs. Its modular architecture supports various execution environments, including Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), EraVM, and WebAssembly (WASM), offering greater performance and customizability for developers.

“With GPU-powered computing and AI-driven protocol design, ADI Chain can support large-scale partners and bring 1 billion people into the digital economy by 2030,” said Andrey Lazorenko, CEO of ADI Foundation.

ADI Chain to host UAE’s first AED-pegged stablecoin

In addition to using ZKsync‘s Airbender, ADI Chain is noteworthy as it will serve as the platform for the UAE’s first dirham-pegged stablecoin initiative. In April, Abu Dhabi institutions—including ADQ, IHC, and First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB)—announced plans to issue a stablecoin backed by the UAE dirham on the ADI blockchain, pending regulatory approval from the Central Bank.

ADI testnet was launched on August 21, providing developers and partners with early access to ADI Chain’s capabilities, with the mainnet set to go live soon.

Kevin McCoy and Simon Sparks to host roundtable at GamesIndustry.biz HR Summit 2025

by admin September 29, 2025

Next Jump’s Kevin McCoy and GameDataCore’s Simon Sparks will be hosting a roundtable at this week’s GamesIndustry.biz HR Summit.

Titled ‘Level Up or Get Left Behind: How to Win When You’re Short on People, Resources, Time, and Money,’ McCoy and Sparks will discuss the practical tools such as resetting your feedback environment and creating a coaching culture.

McCoy co-founded e-commerce and employee benefits technology company Next Jump in 1997. He founded the firm’s Cambridge, Massachusetts office before joining its UK operation in 2010 as managing director.

He recently led the implementation of Next Jump’s coaching programs with the UK Royal Navy – which is being used as a case study during the roundtable – and is head of the firm’s global finance and operations team.

Sparks is co-founder and COO of GameDataCore, which provides games industry intelligence. He is also a culture consultant, partnering with Next Jump coaches and has coached with the UK Navy.

“I am excited to share this case study and how I am implementing the same principles inside a new startup right now, feedback as creative infrastructure, individual ego work first, then team cadence and metrics,” said Sparks.

“When you get those pieces aligned, momentum stops being luck.”

McCoy and Sparks join the lineup of speakers attending the GamesIndustry.biz HR summit this Thursday (October 2), including Fresh Seed’s Sarah Brewster, Skillfull’s Gina Jackson and Amiqus’ Liz Prince, as well as Sega Europe’s chief people officer Nicky Ormrod alongside Simon Court and Dan Bobby of Value Partnership.

The event will take place at The Royal Institution in London, and tickets for the event (which includes entry to the Best Places to Work Awards) can be found here.

Salix Games and Liquid Crimson to host spooky tabletop RPG stream for SpecialEffect

by admin September 20, 2025

UK studio Salix Games and creative agency Liquid Crimson are teaming up for Overdue Exorcism, a one-night-only, live table RPG performance to support charity SpecialEffect.

Taking place on October 3, 2025, the Overdue Exorcism charity stream will be guided by game master Natalie Walker, who voiced Nambi Ghimi in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and Alice Blague in Astrologaster.

Winter will be joined by a host of acclaimed voice actors, including Billie Fulford-Brown (Sophie in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33), Dave Jones (Halsin in Baldur’s Gate 3), Kathyrn Vinclaire (who provided voice work for Conan Exiles and Warhammer Soul Arena), and Kit Harrison (Sawada in Genshin Impact). There will also be special guest cameos.

The strean has a £10,000 fundraising goal, and you can watch it on SpecialEffect’s Twitch channel from 6pm to 10pm BST on October 3, 2025.

Those who tune in will be able to unlock fundraising milestones that “force the cast into wild accents, musical interludes and full-blown possession swaps.”

There will also be viewer-triggered perks that let fans “inflict chilli-chocolate roulette, demand dance-offs or make their favourite actor read romantic or horror poetry in-character, straight to camera.”

“We’re not here to play it safe – we’re here to summon ghosts, break rules and blow the doors off tabletop streaming,” said Lauran Carter, comms director at Liquid Crimson.

“It’s theatre meets games meets rock show – and it’s all for SpecialEffect!”

The Overdue Exorcism stream is part of Special Effect’s One Special Day initiative, which aims to “level the playing field for physically disabled gamers.”

On the same day as the stream, SpecialEffect is hosting its One Special Walk fundraising event, which will see those who sign up walking 25km across Greater London, from the London Stadium all the way to Wembley.

The charity is also hosting a Steam sale, which runs from September 11, 2025, to September 18, 2025.

This is the ninth consecutive year SpecialEffect’s One Special Day has taken place, with last year’s initiative raising over £600,000.

“We couldn’t be more thankful for everyone who has put their time into this incredible stream, and we can’t wait to see what shenanigans take place on October 3 as part of One Special Day in support of our work!,” said Paige Harvey, gaming community manager at SpecialEffect.

“In our eyes, this event is already a natural 20!”

Rate My Takeaway host quits channel over ownership dispute

by admin September 8, 2025

The host of popular YouTube food review channel Rate My Takeaway, Danny Malin, has announced he has left the company following a dispute over ownership.

Malin launched the channel as a light-hearted way to showcase local takeaways in the UK and bring some cheer when restaurants were closed and people were stuck at home during the 2020 pandemic.

The quirky format of ordering a takeaway and eating it right outside on his own folding table and chair quickly struck a chord online. Rain or shine, Danny’s dad-style humor turned the channel into a viral hit, drawing in millions of views and nearly 750,000 subscribers in just five years.

Despite the success of becoming a well known name, especially in the UK, Danny uploaded a video to his Mr and Mrs Yorkshire channel on September 6, titled “Why I’m QUITTING RATE MY TAKEAWAY”.

Danny Malin says legal action “on the way”

During the nine-minute video, Malin heavily implied that, despite being the face of Rate My Takeaway, he was not an equal partner in the business, with blame being placed firmly on his cameraman and editor as the reason for leaving.

“I’ve always said that it’s three of us, that we split things equally… but from day one I’ve struggled to achieve that because, for whatever reasons, I don’t get access to certain things or I can’t do this.”

Malin also suggested the fallout may not be over, hinting at possible legal action tied to the dispute. “I can only go into so much detail… because I believe there’ll be legal action on the way,” he told viewers.

Even so, he was quick to stress his gratitude to fans, calling the support from viewers “absolutely amazing” and crediting the channel’s community with changing his life. “Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart for all the support, the kind messages, the chats we’ve had in the street, and the good times we’ve had. It’s been absolutely amazing,” he said.

While his time fronting Rate My Takeaway appears to have come to an end, Danny insists this isn’t the last we’ll see of him. He plans to continue creating content on the Mr and Mrs Yorkshire channel and hinted at new food projects in the future. “I love creating content… it just needs to evolve,” he explained.

Playing for the Planet to host Green Game Summit and awards ceremony this November

by admin September 6, 2025

Playing for the Planet has announced a day of events this November to bring together climate experts, policymakers, and games industry leaders.

Hosted at BFI Southbank on November 6, 2025, the event will include the Green Game Summit followed by the second annual Playing for the Planet Awards.

Run by the Playing for the Planet Alliance – an initiative supported by the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) – the Green Game Summit aims to “explore what progress is being made and what more can be done to protect nature and reduce carbon emissions”.

As for the Playing for the Planet Awards, this will celebrate the winners of the sixth annual Green Game Jam.

Playing for the Planet has partnered with the BFI, Bastion, and Liquid Crimson for these events, with support from Ukie, Video Games Europe, Video Games Poland, Verband de deutschen Games-Branche, Dutch Games Association, and Syndicat National Du Jeu Video.

“This year, we have seen some bold, big, and ambitious activations for nature engaging billions of players by some of the biggest games in the world,” said UNEP chief of youth and education Sam Barratt.

“This event is a chance to share and scale what’s working, get leaders and experts on stage so that this industry explores how to work harder and faster to cut emissions and engage their players. It promises to be a great event.”

BFI head of environmental sustainability Keir Oldfield-Lewis added: “We are proud to be partnering with Playing for the Planet to bring this summit and awards to BFI Southbank for the very first time.

“As the UK’s lead body for film and the moving image, the BFI is committed to embracing video games as we enable a just and green transition for the screen industries. This is a significant moment to celebrate the trailblazing games businesses working on green tech and climate storytelling worldwide.”

US Fed to Host Payments Innovation Conference on Crypto and AI

by admin September 4, 2025

In brief

  • The conference will examine stablecoins, tokenized assets, AI for payments, and DeFi.
  • Governor Christopher Waller said innovation has been “a constant” in meeting consumer and business needs.
  • The event adds to a packed Q4 policy calendar alongside other initiatives from the SEC, CFTC, BIS, and MAS.

The Federal Reserve Board announced Wednesday it will host a conference on payments innovation on October 21, with a focus on emerging technologies in U.S. payment systems.

The event will bring together regulators, academics, and industry participants to discuss ways to “innovate and improve the payments system,” per the announcement.

“Innovation has been a constant in payments to meet the changing needs of consumers and businesses,” Federal Reserve Governor Christopher J. Waller said in a statement.

The conference is positioned to bring together “ideas on how to improve the safety and efficiency of payments, and hearing from those helping to shape the future of payments,” Governor Waller added.

The event will feature panel discussions on the convergence of traditional and decentralized finance, new stablecoin use cases, the intersection of artificial intelligence and payments, and the tokenization of financial products and services.

It will be livestreamed on the Federal Reserve’s website, with further details to be announced. Decrypt has reached out to the central bank for further details.

The inclusion of stablecoins and tokenization under one conference table connects with how the Fed and regulators are viewing digital assets through the same policy lens as traditional payments.

Last month, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission advanced its own “Crypto Sprint” where it will assess custody, leveraged retail trading, and consumer protections. It is now in its public consultation phase, which runs through October 20.

The Fed’s October conference announcement follows a joint SEC and CFTC statement on Monday that sought to clarify how registered exchanges may list certain spot crypto products, including leveraged retail trades, under their Project Crypto and Crypto Sprint initiatives.

The move, pitched as advancing regulatory clarity and market choice, comes just weeks before policy dialogues and pilots from the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Bank for International Settlements.

El Salvador to Host First Government-Backed Bitcoin Conference

by admin September 2, 2025

El Salvador is preparing to host the world’s first government-sponsored Bitcoin conference on November 12–13, 2025, in San Salvador’s historic center. The two-day event, named Bitcoin Histórico, will be staged by the National Bitcoin Office and is being described as a milestone for digital currencies.

The announcement has captured global attention, reinforcing El Salvador’s role as a Bitcoin pioneer. The country made history in 2021 by adopting Bitcoin (BTC) as legal tender. Now, it aims to showcase Bitcoin’s role in financial freedom, culture, and sovereignty through this global event.

This isn’t just a conference. This is a testament to an extraordinary moment in history.

We are proud to announce BITCOIN HISTÓRICO: a global summit on Bitcoin, transformation, and relentless optimism for the future. We believe Bitcoin is more than an asset – it’s a tool for… pic.twitter.com/7RqIzCnRld

— The Bitcoin Office (@bitcoinofficesv) August 31, 2025

“Bitcoin Histórico celebrates financial freedom in the heart of San Salvador, itself the living example of the liberation of the people of El Salvador,” the organizers said. Tickets are already available, with early bird prices in Bitcoin only, while fiat payments will be added later in September.

The main stage will be hosted at the National Palace, with live streams on giant LED screens at Plaza Gerardo Barrios. Additional panels and workshops will be held at the National Library (BINAES) and National Theater.

Global Leaders and Speakers

Prominent names set to speak include billionaire Ricardo Salinas, author Jeff Booth, Bitcoin advocates Max Keiser and Stacy Herbert, and Lightning Network builder Jack Mallers. Other confirmed speakers are Pierre Rochard, Jimmy Song, Darin Feinstein, and Lina Seiche.

Tickets are priced at $350 for general access and $2,100 for the Genesis Crown Pass, which includes VIP seating, private networking, and exclusive merchandise.

Bukele’s Pro-Bitcoin Vision

The conference comes as President Nayib Bukele secures another term under a recent constitutional reform allowing indefinite re-election. Bukele, one of Bitcoin’s strongest global advocates, has confirmed government holdings of over 6,200 BTC. His extended leadership provides political space to expand El Salvador’s pro-Bitcoin strategy.

Bitcoin Market Shows Signs of Recovery

The announcement of Bitcoin Histórico coincides with a market rebound. Bitcoin is trading above $110,293, recovering after a sharp 6% drop last week. Institutional demand remains strong, as Japan’s Metaplanet added 1,009 BTC on Monday, increasing its holdings to 20,000 BTC, worth over ¥302.3 billion ($2 billion).

Meanwhile, US spot Bitcoin ETFs had received $440 million in weekly flows. The traders are speculating on a Federal Reserve rate cut in the month, and the CME FedWatch tool indicates an 87.6% chance of the Fed cutting the rate by 25 bps. A reduction in the rate will weaken the dollar and further increase Bitcoin’s value.

With Bitcoin Histórico, El Salvador aims to showcase not just a conference, but a turning point in financial history that other nations may one day follow.
