inZOI: Island Getaway’s DLC is here, and here’s a trailer to hold you over until you can get home and play it

by admin August 20, 2025

Very much right on schedule, Krafton has released Island Getaway, the long-teased DLC pack for life sim game inZOI. The first time we got solid details of the add-on was back in July, when the developer confirmed it would be revealed at gamescom.

Later, an official release date was announced, and it turned out that you won’t actually have to be attending gamescom in person to play the DLC, because its release date is August 20. Well, that day has now arrived.

Island Getaway launched earlier today, free to all owners of inZOI. The DLC is part of a larger patch, version 0.3.0, which brings several quality of life tweaks and other updates across the board. This also means that inZOI is now available on Mac OS.

Island Getaway adds an entirely new map to the game. It’s called Cahaya, and it’s split into two islands. The whole thing is inspired by Southeast Asian locales, and that’s what the new activities and outfits are themed after.

Lifestyle activities (farming, fishing, mining) are among the core features of this update. There’s also the arrival of vehicles to look forward to, which let you travel around faster and more easily. There’s plenty in the patch notes that inZOI players will appreciate.

If you’re thinking of joining them, there’s a nicely-timed 20% off sale, live now on Steam. The discount is good until September 2, so there’s plenty of time to decide. If you know your PC won’t be able to handle the game, you’re probably better off waiting until inZOI comes to PS5 next year.

While you’re here, you’re going to appreciate our guides for how to change your gender and sexuality, as well as how to go to university. We’ve also updated our jobs guide with the new careers that became available with the DLC.

I’m sad the Battlefield 6 beta is over, but this 2042 event keeps the party going even if the cool kids have already gone home

by admin August 18, 2025

Battlefield 6 has run its last open beta. This, obviously, is a tragedy. How else am I meant to spend my weekends? Where else can I drive around with four loads of C4 strapped to the boot, or engage in high-flying aerial duels? Well, there’s always Battlefield 2042.

But why go back? Well, it seems as though EA understands a widespread longing may have been on the cards with Battlefield 6’s absence, and has therefore introduced a limited-time event to the older title to keep folks engaged for the next few months. A celebration of sorts for 2042 before everyone leaps off towards greener pastures.

This new Battlefield 2042 update – which is straight up titled the “Road to Battlefield 6” update – includes a free battle pass full of little goodies, a revamp of the Iwo Jima map, and some prizes for those looking to jump into Battlefield 6 come October. Some of those battle pass rewards I mentioned earlier carry over, making 2042 a must-play for early-onset completionists.

Check out the Road to Battlefield update hereWatch on YouTube

It’s a clever ploy, offering permanent rewards for the new game. EA did it too for the Battlefield 6 beta, offering various cosmetics for hitting career levels or finishing challenges. It’s not like the Beta needed any help, but it surely would have brought folks back for the second beta even if they likely were fulfilled on the first beta alone. Battlefield 2042 offering such rewards will inevitably push those who never played the game – or maybe touched it only briefly – back into the fray.

Is this taking advantage of people’s FOMO? The voice in their heads that demands they need everything? Yeah absolutely, and as a former WoW mount collector that can be a real burden, but it’ll also inject a lot of life into Battlefield 2042 in its sunset period. For people who have stuck with Battlefield 2042 through thick and thin it’ll be like one last hurrah, and for Battlefield 6 refugees it’ll be a cool way of passing the time.

It does also help that Battlefield 2042 is a lot better now than it used to be. After years of updates, tweaks and changes, it’s really come into its own as of late. While a sizable number of players who’ll jump into Battlefield 2042 for its Road to Battlefield 6 event will be fair weather friends, there for a good time and not a long time, it may very well do wonders in remedying popular sentiment around the game that lingers from its troubled launch.

There have been some pretty cool crossovers in 2042, you’ve got to admit. | Image credit: EA

So yeah I’ll hop back into Battlefield 2042 – I too haven’t really touched it since its release. I’ll try out the new KFS2000, I’ll squad up with some friends, and hey, maybe I will crash some helicopters into people. The Battlefield 6 rewards are nice and I’ll take great joy in showing them off come October.

But honestly? I just think it’s a nice curtain call for a game that’ll inevitably be left largely behind when Battlefield 6 comes along. I do hope that for many people, it’ll leave a fond final memory of 2042 before the game is memory holed and thrown down the same well Hardline lives in.

Ronin Network is Coming Back Home to Ethereum in 2026

by admin August 17, 2025

Ronin, a purpose-built blockchain for gaming, said it will migrate back to the Ethereum ecosystem as a layer-2 network, making Ronin a general-purpose chain for applications beyond gaming.

The blockchain originally spun off from the Ethereum mainnet in 2021 in search of better network speeds and cheaper transaction fees for Axie Infinity, a non-fungible token (NFT) blockchain video game. The Ronin team wrote:

“Things are different now. Ethereum is back. Transaction costs and speeds are better than ever. We are early to a new era of growth, and Ronin is ready to rise.”

The team set a Q2 2026 target for the full migration from being a standalone layer-1 blockchain to an Ethereum layer-2 network.

Ronin’s migration to an Ethereum layer-2 network will occur in two phases. Source: Ronin Chain

“Ethereum is winning the war for Wall Street’s attention and capital,” according to Ronin, which cited the growing ties between institutional investors and Ethereum as a main driver for the decision to migrate back to the Ethereum ecosystem.

Ethereum becomes Wall Street darling in institutionalization push

Etherealize, a marketing company established to pitch Ethereum to Wall Street investors, launched in January with backing and funding from the Ethereum Foundation.

Since that time, several Ethereum treasury companies have emerged as publicly traded businesses that accumulate Ether (ETH) on their balance sheets, and the price of Ether hit a recent high of about $4,790.

Matt Hougan, chief investment officer at investment company Bitwise, told Cointelegraph that Ether treasury companies create a cohesive narrative for Ethereum that appeals to traditional financial investors.

Putting ETH into an “equity wrapper” that accrues yield through staking provides investors with a vehicle they are familiar with and feel comfortable investing in, Hougan said.

Proponents of the Ethereum treasury strategy say that the network will become the backbone of a new financial system, acting as a base layer for decentralized finance (DeFi), real-world asset tokenization, and stablecoin settlement.

The prohibition of yield-bearing stablecoins in the US, stipulated in the recently passed GENIUS bill, will drive investors to Ethereum DeFi, where they can stake or earn passive income through lending activities, according to analysts.

Look inside Adin Ross’ new $25m home that broke sales records

by admin June 18, 2025

Adin Ross has purchased a $25 million home in Davie, Florida, and it’s actually a bit of a record-breaker for the Sunshine State.

For years, streaming and content creation has been as an incredibly lucrative career path. If you strike it big, you could easily buy a nice car and house, but we have seen some incredibly flashy purchases at times as well.

In the case of Adin Ross, he regularly splashes out on designer clothes, private jet trips, and cars – including an eight-car strong collection worth over $1 million.

Now, the Kick co-owner has shelled out in a big way, buying a $25.5 million home in Davie, Florida. The 10-acre property includes an 11,325-square-foot, seven-bedroom mansion that had been on the market for $32 million.

Inside Adin Ross’ new $25.5 Florida home

According to TheRealDeal, the land was initially purchased in 2009 for less than $1m, and has been built up over the years.

The stunning mansion includes eight bathrooms, landscaped gardens, fountains, a reflecting pool, a chef’s kitchen, a home theater, a spa, an office, an art studio, and a pool house.

Real estate broker Enzo Rosani, who helped with the deal, showcased the inside of the house in an Instagram tour video. “A new benchmark set. Highest sale ever in the area — and we made it happen,” he said.

According to a report from Compass, Adin has put down around $12 million to buy the house, with the rest coming via a massive mortgage.

The streamer previously said he was aiming to buy a beachfront property in Miami, but he has clearly changed up on that front. He is a 40-minute drive from Miami Beach, but the land he now owns gives him some big possibilities for new content ideas.

However, he is still a fair way off getting a spot on the list of most expensive homes owned by celebrities.

Manchester United pay homage to Old Trafford with 2025-26 home kit

by admin June 12, 2025

Bruno Fernandes and Co. model the new kit. Manchester United

With a fresh start comes a fresh kit for Manchester United, who have been quick to reveal their new home strip for the 2025-26 season.

After suffering a disastrous campaign last time out, that included the club’s worst-ever Premier League finish (15th) — so bad that coach Ruben Amorim felt the need to publicly apologise on the pitch after the final home game — coupled with a galling defeat to fellow stragglers Tottenham Hotspur in the final of the Europa League, United have sought to draw a line under 2024-25 and move on.

As such, United have unveiled their new home kit with the main source of inspiration being their Old Trafford stadium, which has played host to all of the club’s various ups and downs since 1910. With the venerable ground set to be replaced by a shiny new 100,000-capacity venue, it could well be that United are saying their goodbyes to the Theatre of Dreams in the same fell swoop

The shirt is fairly straightforward and traditional with a solid red base and minimal black-and-white trim. The patterns in the fabric on the torso and sleeves are oddly inspired by the quiet, eerie majesty of Old Trafford on non-match days, with circular dots and tonal stripes supposedly reflecting the shape of the pitch markings, the dugouts and the stands.

The full V-neck returns for the first time since 2018-19 and the final nod to Old Trafford can be found on the reverse, with “Theatre of Dreams” printed in white script across the back of the collar.

Sadly, the 2025-26 jersey is not a patch on United’s finest kit-based salute to their home turf and pales in comparison to the club’s rather excellent 1994-96 home shirt by Umbro, which featured a full, isometric image of Old Trafford infused into the material.

Still, it’s certainly smart enough to cut the mustard. Whether the first-team under Amorim will fare any better while wearing it next season remains to be seen.

Binance announces Defi App (HOME) listing and 200m airdrop for BNB holders

by admin June 12, 2025

Binance is launching a retroactive airdrop for active BNB holders with no new activity needed.

Binance has announced the 22nd project in its HODLers rewards program: the DeFi App (HOME). The airdrop will distribute 200 million HOME tokens to BNB holders who previously used Simple Earn or other on-chain yield programs.

The airdrop is retroactive and applies to users who interacted with yield products on Binance between June 6 and June 9. Distribution begins on June 12, after which the token will transition from Binance Alpha to the main exchange.

According to its developers, the HOME token, also known as DeFi App, is designed to make decentralized finance more accessible. It features gasless transactions across multiple blockchains and avoids the use of cross-chain bridges. The project also claims to offer full user custody over tokens.

DeFi App reported on June 10 that it had processed $15 billion in trading volume and attracted nearly 400,000 users since launch.

Binance Alpha airdrops are increasingly popular

The move is part of the Binance HODLer Airdrops program, which makes active users eligible for rewards based on their BNB (BNB) balances. Specifically, users who subscribe their BNB to Simple Earn are automatically eligible for the airdrops.

Binance has positioned the program as a user acquisition strategy. Data shows the Binance wallet has recently surpassed MetaMask and OKX in user volume, a trend some observers attribute to the Alpha rewards program.

However, the strategy is not without controversy. Namely, some Binance users are complaining that Alpha users are getting all rewards, while testnet users are getting overlooked. Disgruntled users even started a #StopBinanceAlpha hashtag on X.

Sony’s new home theater speakers are a really affordable route to Dolby Atmos nirvana

by admin June 10, 2025

  • Sony’s new CS speakers range from $229 up to $279
  • Bookshelf, floor, center and Atmos speaker models
  • Larger speakers are Hi-Res Audio certified

Sony’s popular CS Series of home theater and stereo speakers has just got bigger with the arrival of four brand new models: bookshelf speakers, floorstanders, Atmos upfiring speakers and a center speaker too.

Sony says that the new speakers bring “studio-quality sound into the home”, and I’m delighted to see that they’ve stuck with Sony’s trademark “any color as long as it’s black” design – as well as making the center speaker the same width as their AV receivers, which is a nice touch if you like your AV setup to be visible.

The best part is that they all feature an impressive array of drivers, and extremely reasonable prices, despite Sony generally coming in more at the premium end of home theater options.

Sony’s new CS Series speakers: what’s new and how much?

The CS5M2 bookshelf speakers are $249.99 per pair and feature a three-way design with a 5.12-inch woofer, a soft dome tweeter and a wide dispersion super tweeter. They’re certified for Hi-Res Audio and have a frequency response of 53Hz to 50,000Hz.

The CS3M3 floorstanders are four-way, adding a second 5.12-inch woofer and a bass reflex enclosure, and again they’re Hi-Res Audio certified. Frequency response is 45Hz to 50,000Hz. The list price is $279.99 per speaker (so about $560 for a pair).

The center channel speaker, the CS8M2, has twin 3.94″ woofers and a high-precision tweeter; there’s a bass reflex enclosure round the back. The single speaker is $229.99.

Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more.

Last but not least, there are the CSEM2 up-firing Dolby Atmos speakers at $249.99 per pair. Each speaker comes with a 3.94″ full-range speaker, and they’re designed to sit atop other CS speakers, or they can mount on the wall/ceiling.

All four speaker models are available now in the US, though we don’t have confirmation of a release in other countries yet.

The only thing notably missing is a subwoofer. Sony’s SA-CS9 subwoofer isn’t really available any more, so it’s surprising that a new model wasn’t unveiled here too.

Best Treadmill for Home (2025), Tested and Reviewed

by admin June 8, 2025

Buying the best treadmill for your home gym is a big commitment. Even the more affordable models are pricey. They take up a lot of space, and if you’ve ever come across a busted belt or a broken screen, you know how frustrating they can be. That being said, having a cardio machine in your house that works makes exercising so much more convenient. I definitely run more (and stick to my marathon training plans better) because of various treadmills I’ve had at home over the years. They can also make interval training a bit easier and help you practice hills if you don’t have access to much challenging incline outside.

If you’re in the market for one, you probably know there are tons of options at all kinds of prices, and it can be hard to know what’s really worth splurging on. To help you narrow your search, we tested all the treads below, seeing how they held up through countless long-distance runs, hill workouts, and sprinting intervals. Our top picks are the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 ($1,999) and the Aviron Victory Treadmill ($2,599), but we have many more below.

Here’s what you should keep in mind as you shop. Is a garage treadmill too much for you? You might want to consider our guide to the Best Walking Pads instead. And don’t forget to check out the rest of our health and fitness buying guides, like the Best Fitness Trackers and the Best Smart Scales.

Updated June 2025: We added the Aviron Victory Treadmill and the Wahoo Fitness Kickr Run. We also updated links and prices.

How to Pick a Treadmill

Of course, budget will probably be the biggest factor. Beyond that, here are a few other things that you might want to consider in your search:

  • How much space do you have? Most companies recommend that you leave at least two feet of clearance on either side of the treadmill and six feet behind, in case you fly off while running at high speeds.
  • What is the machine’s weight capacity?
  • Which metrics do you want to measure? Do you want to measure pace, distance, or heart rate? Do you want a built-in display or do you have your own wrist computer?
  • Do you want built-in fitness programming, or do you have your own workout plan?
  • Do you need a machine that you can all-out sprint on, or one that will allow you to practice running on steep inclines and declines?

Best Overall

NordicTrack Commercial 1750 Treadmill

In SNL’s Stefon’s voice: This treadmill has everything. A solid top speed of 12 mph (a roughly five-minute-per-mile pace), incline and decline options, a springy running deck, fans, a 16-inch pivoting touchscreen you can use to stream shows, and two water bottle holders. Not only is this a durable, well-built machine, it has some seriously cool features in terms of programming. NordicTrack uses iFIT, which features a library of 10,000 workouts, including running, walking, hiking, and even off-tread activities like strength training and yoga. (You’ll need a subscription to access the majority of the workouts—there are two options at $15 or $40 a month.) You can follow a trainer through gorgeous mountain and beach landscapes, and you can opt to have the treadmill automatically adjust your speed and incline throughout the workout.

Another feature, called Smart Adjust, will tweak the speed and incline to match your fitness level over time, based on changes you made in your past workouts. Using the free wearable monitor that comes with the tread, your machine can track your heart rate, and Active Pulse can also auto-adjust your workout’s intensity to keep you in your ideal heart rate zones throughout. Even the fans can adjust automatically during workouts to give you more breeze when you’re really suffering. If you like workout variety and following along with digital training—versus running your own workouts—you’ll get a lot out of this treadmill.

When I tested the 1750, I was following a training plan for the Kerlingarfjöll Ultra, a trail series held in the Highlands region of Iceland, in which I was running the 22 km race. I did a lot of my own workouts on this tread, and it was well suited for manual training, too. I used it to do several interval sessions, and I appreciated how quickly it moved between speeds. You can change the speed and incline manually via up/down buttons on the front of the machine under the screen, and by pressing numbered buttons on the sides of the screen.

Make it Home takes interior design on the road

by admin June 7, 2025

Camper Van: Make it Home has everything you’d want out of a home-decorating simulator, but it’s all on wheels and slightly miniaturized, and something about that combination is extra peaceful. The game is available on Steam right now, following a surprise drop during the Wholesome Games Showcase, which is part of Summer Game Fest 2025.

In Camper Van: Make it Home, players solve organization puzzles and use their interior design skills to craft the mobile homes of their dreams. There’s even space to decorate outside of the vehicle, and the accessories change along with the environments and seasons. Camper Van: Make it Home is just a perfect encapsulation of pastel dreaminess and cozy creativity.

Camper Van: Make it Home is developed by Spanish indie team Malapata Studio, with financial support from Wings. The game has been on a little journey from Kickstarter, where it garnered more than 2,000 backers in 2023, to today’s full release on Steam.

Why Democrat Zoltan Istvan Is Backing Basic Income, Home Robots in California Governor Bid

by admin June 5, 2025

In brief

  • California gubernatorial candidate Zoltan Istvan warns that AI and humanoid robots could eliminate 50% of jobs, calling it a looming “job apocalypse.”
  • To address the threat, Istvan proposes a universal basic income and providing every household with a humanoid robot.
  • Shifting from the Transhumanist to the Democratic Party, Istvan emphasizes the urgency of regulating AI and preparing society for its rapid advancement.

As artificial intelligence threatens to disrupt the American workforce, Zoltan Istvan, who’s running for the Democratic nomination for Governor in California, is betting on a radical solution: universal basic income and a humanoid robot in every home.

Istvan’s campaign comes as tech leaders warn that AI could eliminate up to 50% of entry-level jobs within the next five years. Istvan believes the threat is far broader, predicting that the rise of generative AI and humanoid robots imperils half of all jobs.

“That is what my campaign is about,” Istvan told Decrypt. “We’re saying 50% of all jobs at this point are at risk. You can see the infrastructure being built in China and the U.S. and around the world for these humanoid robots.”

Friends, today I’m officially announcing my campaign for California Governor for the Democratic Party. After years of watching inequality, homelessness, regulation, taxes, lawfare, and crime increase in my home state, I’ve decided to do something about it. But the far deeper… pic.twitter.com/hPfqNW6WBn

— Zoltan Istvan 🖖 (@zoltan_istvan) April 29, 2025

While AI has become widespread since the public launch of ChatGPT in 2022, Istvan called the stakes urgent, arguing that the public’s understanding of AI hasn’t kept pace with its rapid development.

“It’s like a BMW, what hits the market is what was developed 18 months ago,” he said. “Right now, they’re test-driving 2027 models, producing 2026 models, and selling us the 2025 versions. The same thing is happening in AI.”

Best known for his 2016 presidential bid under the Transhumanist banner, Istvan drove a coffin-shaped bus across the country to promote his platform of radically extending human life through advancements in biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and other technologies.

Though he still identifies with transhumanist ideals, Istvan said switching from the Transhumanist Party to the Democratic Party is a strategic move to stay competitive in a traditionally one-party state.

“In California, to run as anything other than a Democrat would just mean you’re not going to win,” Istvan said.

To confront what he calls a looming “job apocalypse,” due to a convergence of humanoid robots and AI, Istvan is promoting two primary policy goals: establishing a universal basic income and ensuring a humanoid robot in every California household.

“Implementing universal basic income must be a top priority,” he said. “Otherwise, people in the next year or two, as they start losing their jobs en masse, are going to be picking up the pitchforks and causing huge disruption to society.”

Istvan said he is less concerned with the method of funding UBI, with options including taxation, company shares, or a robot tax, and more concerned with the urgent implementation.

Greater ambitions

The second policy he proposed is even more ambitious, providing every California citizen with a humanoid robot.

“We want to provide or lease a humanoid robot to every household,” he said. “That way, people can spend less time on chores, driving, or cooking, and more time with family.”

Getting voters to accept the idea of a free robot may be easier said than done. In a recent survey of U.S. and U.K. respondents, 12% reported being polite out of fear of a future AI uprising.

Istvan acknowledged the cultural resistance to robots, fueled by decades of dystopian science fiction films like James Cameron’s “The Terminator” and Gareth Edwards’ “The Creator,” but believes the benefits will outweigh fears.

That said, Istvan expressed concern about unregulated progress toward artificial general intelligence and superintelligence, commonly referred to as the singularity. He compared the current trajectory to playing with a loaded gun.

“We can’t just launch superintelligence and hope that it turns out for the best,” he said. “Unlike nuclear weapons, which remain under human control, superintelligence could develop beyond our ability to contain it.”

To create meaningful guardrails for AI, Istvan believes international cooperation is necessary.

“This is not going to be China versus America anymore,” he said. “This is going to be the human race versus a potential AI that might not like us.”

As the AI revolution accelerates, Istvan hopes California can serve as a testing ground for policies that merge technology with humanity’s best interests—before it’s too late.

“If we could guarantee that AI is not going to come after us, I would absolutely say, let us go through with it,” he said. “We’d end up in a more utopic world. The standard of living will go up. People will live longer.”

Before his utopian vision can come to pass, however, Istvan will still need to get through a highly competitive, expensive, and often contentious California election season.

Among ten “likely candidates” in a statewide Emerson College poll in April, former Vice-President Kamala Harris led the pack with 30 percent of the vote (though 50% of people polled said she shouldn’t run). Istvan was not among the names polled.
