Can PUMP price hit a new ATH amid whale selloff?

PUMP price rallied over 70% in the past week, driven by its aggressive buyback strategy, even as whales booked profits en masse.

According to data from crypto.news, Pump.fun (PUMP) was trading at $0.0083 last check Sep. 16 afternoon Asian time, up 71% over the past week and 260% from its lowest point in July. At this price, the token is just 5.4% below its recent all-time high of $0.0088. 

However, PUMP’s current rally could face the risk of a pullback as whales have started offloading their holdings lately. 

Data from Nansen shows that the total amount of tokens held by whale wallets has dropped 25% over the past seven days to 19.39 billion. At the same time, tokens held by Smart Money wallets and public figures’ wallets have also declined by 48% and 9%, respectively.

Even though sell-offs from whales and high-profile holders often trigger retail FOMO, which leads to increased selling pressure, so far, it has failed to hamper PUMP’s upside rally.

Pump’s price rally over the past week has been fueled by several catalysts, with the most prominent being Pump.fun’s aggressive buyback program initiated in early July. As per reports, the project has purchased nearly $95 million worth of PUMP tokens from the open market since it began the strategy.

When a project repurchases its own tokens, it reduces the number of tokens available in circulation. Such a reduction in supply increases scarcity, which can help support the token’s price if demand continues to remain high, as is the case with PUMP.

Another factor that has been fueling PUMP price is the introduction of a new creator revenue-sharing program along with the reactivation of its livestreaming feature on the platform. Notably, Pump.fun now allocates 50% of its PumpSwap DEX revenue directly to builders on the platform, giving them a strong incentive to remain active within the ecosystem.

In a recent X announcement, the platform revealed it paid out over $4 million to creators this week alone, the majority of which went to first-time creators. The development suggests that Pump.fun is aiming to support emerging builders on the platform, which has helped enhance user engagement and add further hype around the token.

Other bullish developments include PUMP securing a listing on Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange, and its mobile app nearing the top 100 ranks. Both milestones have boosted the token’s visibility, which in turn could attract more investors.

That being said, once selling pressure wanes, the bullish developments surrounding the token could provide the foundation for its next leg higher.

In the meantime, PUMP’s 50-day simple moving average was above the 200-day SMA, thereby completing a golden cross. When this signal appears, it is often a sign that market sentiment may be shifting from bearish to bullish.

On the daily timeframe, the MACD lines have formed a positive crossover. This adds to the bullish bias, reinforcing the possibility of continued upward momentum as traders respond to improving technical conditions and renewed buying interest.

Provided PUMP remains within the ascending parallel channel, the next target is the psychological resistance at $0.01, about 20% above the current level. A breakout above this with strong volume would put the token into short-term price discovery.

On the other hand, if the price falls below $0.007, the 78.6% Fibonacci retracement level, the setup would be invalidated and could lead to a drop toward $0.0065, the next retracement support.

XRP traders have been caught on the wrong side of the market over the last day, with fresh data by CoinGlass showing a big gap between long and short liquidations. In total, $11.84 million in XRP was wiped out in the last 24 hours. 

Of that, $10.37 million came from long positions, while just $1.46 million came from shorts. This means there is now a massive 710% difference, showing just how one-sided leverage had become before the market moved against it.

It is easier to spot the difference when you compare it to wider crypto liquidations. Ethereum was top of the list with $108.5 million, Bitcoin came in at $37.7 million and Solana got $27.8 million. What makes XRP stand out is that its total is lower in dollar terms, while the scale of the imbalance is huge.

It was price action that led to the surge.

The chart shows XRP dipping to $2.96 in the early hours before recovering back toward $2.99. There has been some volatility, but the trading range has stayed pretty tight compared to the liquidation figures, making it look stable on spot markets while derivatives traders took the hardest hit. 

The difference between what you can see on price charts and what is actually happening with leveraged positions is as obvious as it has ever been.

At the moment, the $3 level is still the main reference point. If the XRP price can hold onto that line, it might help to steady things after a day of forced selling. If it does not, the liquidation trend could carry on, as traders who have just reset their positions might have to make adjustments again.

The Tesla ‘Blade Runner 2049’ AI Lawsuit Just Hit an Interesting Snag

In April, movement on a 2024 lawsuit involving AI, Tesla, Warner Bros., and the production company behind Blade Runner 2049 caught the attention of sci-fi fans. Today, there’s an update that skews in favor of Warner Bros.

Alcon Entertainment, which produced the 2017 Denis Villeneuve film and has the Prime Video Blade Runner 2099 series on the way, alleged that promotional material used at an October 2024 Tesla event very closely resembled stills from that film.

Those concerns were further heightened by the fact that Alcon had asked Warner Bros., which distributes its films and was partnering with Tesla for a “robotaxi” or “Cybercab” unveiling, not to allow the use of Blade Runner 2049 imagery as part of the event.

The ensuing lawsuit alleges that Tesla circumvented that request by feeding Blade Runner 2049 stills into an AI image generator, and that’s what was eventually used to backdrop the Tesla presentation.

The lawsuit touches on several complicated issues, including, as the Hollywood Reporter points out, “whether the creation of a visual by an AI image generator by copying a portion of a copyrighted work without a license constitutes copyright infringement.” That’s one of the as-yet undecided issues in the ongoing proceedings.

As THR reports, now dismissed are “claims seeking to hold Warner Bros. Discovery responsible for Tesla’s use of the photos” as well as “another claim alleging that Warner Bros. Discovery had a duty to stop Tesla from infringing Alcon’s intellectual property.”

However, “Warner Bros. Discovery still faces a claim for contributory infringement, which accuses the studio of facilitating the alleged misconduct.”

You can read more about the lawsuit in THR; the complexities of this specific case, however, are coming at a time when Hollywood is facing issues centered on AI’s encroachment of intellectual property on an unprecedented scale.

Earlier this month, we learned that Warner Bros. joined Disney and Universal in filing a lawsuit against Midjourney; as Variety reported, the allegations accuse “the AI image-generating platform of blatant copyright violations” involving copyrighted WB characters.

We don’t know yet how Alcon, which (per THR) has one more try to “fix claims for direct and vicarious copyright infringement,” will ultimately fare in its legal fight. But even if Warner Bros. ends up overcoming the remaining claims in this case, it seems the studio has now taken new interest in protecting its library from copyright infringement with generative AI elsewhere.

Pantera Capital CEO Predicts Bitcoin Might Hit $1 Million During His Lifetime

During a recent appearance on CNBC, Dan Morehead, chief executive officer at US-based cryptocurrency fund Pantera Capital, predicted that the price of Bitcoin could potentially surge to as high as $750,000 within the next four years. 

Morehead is not sure when BTC will be able to hit the oft-repeated $1 million target, but he is certain that this will eventually happen during his lifetime. 

Morehead has recalled that Pantera Capital was actually the very first Bitcoin fund in the world. “That was the easiest way to get access then. Now, an ETF is very easy,” he said.  

Notably, Panteral Capital’s first price target for Bitcoin was $5,000. It was announced back in 2013 when the largest cryptocurrency was trading at just $104.

Pantera Capital first predicted that Bitcoin could hit $740,000 last year. The firm initially saw the cryptocurrency reaching this target in 2028, but it also cautioned that such a prediction might be too optimistic. 

Ethereum vs. Solana

Morehead has noted that Solana has been among the best-performing major currencies, and the firm currently has its biggest position in the high-flying altcoin. 

“It’s actually had better performance than even Bitcoin over the last four years,” he noted. 

He has noted that Solana is capable of doing roughly 9 billion transitions per day, which is more than the entire capital markets. 

However, he is convinced that there is no “winner-take-all” mentality in crypto, noting that there were actually a lot of winners in the age of the internet. 

With that said, he believes that there is only a single digit of layer-1s, including Ethereum and Solana, that will be able to survive in the long term.

Adult games hit once more, as Valve seemingly denies Early Access to games with mature content

Valve appears to have quietly updated its Steam Early Access policy to no longer accept games with mature themes.


The decision comes in the wake of pressure from payment processors against adult content on digital storefronts like Steam and itch.io.


Dammitbird, developer of the adult game Heavy Hearts, applied for Steam Early Access but failed review “because we’re unable to support the Early Access model of development for a game with mature themes”, according to a notice from Valve they shared on social media.


“Due to current events, I panicked and contacted my publisher to help me get on Steam Early Access,” Dammitbird told GamesMarkt. “The general rule is that your game should be about 65 percent done before doing EA. Well, we are about 70 percent done so the time was right anyway. But now, all of a sudden and without a policy announcement, the rules have changed and now I can’t join Steam EA”.”

Valve updated its vague guidelines back in July around what sort of content was allowed on Steam.


“We were recently notified that certain games on Steam may violate the rules and standards set forth by our payment processors and their related card networks and banks,” a Valve spokesperson told Eurogamer. “As a result, we are retiring those games from being sold on the Steam Store, because loss of payment methods would prevent customers from being able to purchase other titles and game content on Steam.”


Now, it seems, this has been extended to include Early Access games. However, it remains unclear exactly what constitutes adult content.


Heavy Hearts, for instance, includes pornographic content, so it’s assumed this isn’t accepted in Steam Early Access.

But where does Valve draw the line? Baldur’s Gate 3, for instance, includes sexual content and is listed on Steam as a mature game that’s age restricted. Would Larian’s game – celebrated for its gradual development through Steam Early Access – be allowed under these new rules?

Eurogamer has contacted Valve for clarification on what games are eligible for Steam Early Access.


Pressure from payment processors isn’t just impacting pornogrpahic content on steam and itch. Eurogamer recently spoke to queer developers who’ve been caught up in the recent rule changes after itch.io’s blanket de-indexing of adult content.

The Witcher Season 4 will hit Netflix in October with its new Geralt

It’s been quite the wait, but the fourth season of The Witcher is almost here. In a teaser shared this weekend, Netflix finally revealed the release date: October 30. The video also provided an extended look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia — a casting change that fans naturally have a lot of feelings about after Henry Cavill won their hearts with his take on the character in the first three seasons. The minute-and-a-half-long clip doesn’t give away too much about season four, but we now have a proper sense of what our new Geralt looks and sounds like.

This season will also see Laurence Fishburne join as Regis, Sharlto Copley as Leo Bonhart and James Purefoy as Skellen. It’s the second to last season of the Netflix adaptation, and the streaming company has said that the two final seasons will cover the last three books in the series: Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow and Lady of the Lake. But, fans still have more Witcher content to look forward to yet outside of the show. The Witcher 4 (the game) is on the way, though we don’t yet have a release date.

Every Hollow Knight: Silksong boss already beaten without taking a hit

A skilled player has managed to beat every boss in Hollow Knight: Silksong without taking damage, as seen in their YouTube video.

If you’ve been playing Hollow Knight: Silksong, chances are you’re already familiar with how frustrating the new release can be at times. The game itself is notoriously brutal, to the point where a portion of players have resorted to using mods to make their playthrough easier.

While it’s safe to say a lot of us are struggling, a YouTuber who goes by the name CrankyTemplar clearly isn’t. In fact, they’ve already managed to overcome an extremely hard feat, defeating all the bosses in the game without taking a single hit.

It’s only been a little over a week since the game was released, but this player showed they were more than ready for the challenge.

CrankyTemplar started uploading videos of them beating separate Silksong bosses, and just recently, mixed them all into one nearly two-hour compilation.

From the early game bosses to Seth, a boss that was designed by a fan who passed away, he managed to include them in the video and showcased how he’s able to deal with them flawlessly.

In the majority of the fights, Hornet can be seen only using her needle with the Clawline ability. The YouTuber also used a mix of tools to get through some of the trickier fights.

While many ran to the comments to compliment the creator following this video, they did claim they went through some frustrating “runbacks.” So, this hitless attempt wasn’t exactly a flawless run, given that something like this “usually involves quite a bit of tries to succeed [sic].”

Still, they claimed that the title is a fantastic game and were glad to play it. Additionally, noting that there’s definitely room to improve with these boss fights, they said they’ll look forward to trying Steel Soul mode community-created challenges in the future where a single death means a complete do-over from the start of the game.

The Latest ‘Demon Slayer’ Movie is Another Record-Breaking Hit

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle came to the United States this weekend, and it’s doing numbers well ahead of projections.

Per the Hollywood Reporter, the film—the first of a trilogy meant to bring the shonen fantasy series to a close—made an estimated $70 million domestic, double the $35-40 million predicted by analysts. But Sony’s been aggressive with marketing it, not to mention the anime itself is pretty popular on its own. It’s the biggest opening ever for an anime film in North America, the biggest-ever animated debut for a September film, and with an additional $30 million from international audiences, brings Infinity’s box office to an estimated $468 million worldwide.

Being a money maker isn’t new for Demon Slayer: in 2022, Sony released the film adaptation of the Mugen Train arc, which was the most succssful opening for a foreign film at the time. While it wasn’t the top movie that weekend, it helped reinvigorate U.S. theaters in the aftermath of the early COVID-19 pandemic and was 2020’s highest-grossing film.

Meanwhile, The Conjuring: Last Rites from September 5 fell by 69% domestically and came in behind Infinity Castle. With a new domestic total of $131.1 million and an extra $60.5 million overseas, its latest total is $332.9 million. It’s now the second highes-grossing movie in the franchise behind the first Nun movie ($366 million) and ahead of The Conjuring 2 ($322.8 million).

As for The Long Walk, the weekend’s other big genre release, it made an estimated $11.5 million domestic. Based on Stephen King’s 1979 novel, the Francis Lawrence-directed film stars Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, and Mark Hamill, and has had eavy marketing in recent weeks. Compared to other adaptations of King’s work, that domestic open is below The Monkey and Doctor Sleep, according to Deadline. But at time of writing, its international numbers aren’t out, and we’ll update when they’re disclosed.

It only took a week for the ultimate Silksong sicko to beat every boss in the game without getting hit

Last night, I was annoying my fiancee by swearing every time I died to the early Silksong boss, Splinter Sister⁠—the boss herself isn’t the problem, it’s the stupid little mooks she summons. Meanwhile, there are people not only no-hitting the game’s hardest bosses, one true student of the needle has no-hit every boss in the game.

This early Silksong champion is CrankyTemplar on YouTube, who also appears to have done a lot of Hollow Knight 1 challenge content previously. CrankyTemplar uploaded a first no-hit compilation of Silksong’s early bosses the day it came out, releasing subsequent addendums over the following days.

CrankyTemplar put out a crowning, nearly two hour-long supercut of beating every boss without taking damage on Thursday, September 11⁠—exactly one week after the game released. For a game widely agreed to be extremely challenging, one that PCG contributor Tyler Colp called “worth the pain” in his 90% review of Silksong, I find this to be a staggering accomplishment for how quickly CrankyTemplar managed it.

With Silksong being such a massive game, CrankyTemplar does caveat that this “should” be every boss in the game, but the list looks exhaustive to me: They even took out a boss exclusive to the hidden Steel Soul permadeath mode, and provide detailed instructions for completing every ending, including the “true” ending and a hidden, seemingly very bad ending. If it needs to be said: Don’t watch too far or read the whole video description if you want to avoid spoilers.

CrankyTemplar also largely avoided using Silksong’s many powerful tools and even alternate crests. Scrubbing through the full video, it looks like they stuck with the starting Hunter style for the entire game. I was slightly tickled to discover that even this hardcore player is not fond of Silksong’s long boss runbacks⁠—a frustration that was only magnified by the self-imposed challenge of restarting after taking a single hit.

The one-week turnaround on this still floors me, but there’s still a vast frontier of Silksong challenge and speedruns to take on⁠—Speedrun.com leaderboards for Silksong haven’t even opened yet. A no-hit run of the entire game seems like an inevitability, but my mind boggles at the skill and, above all, patience that will require. 100% speedruns also seem like they’ll be quite the ordeal, given Silksong’s enormous world.

Me? I’m content to take my time working toward Silksong’s true ending eventually. I’m always eager to admire these sorts of achievements, but I’m happy not to feel any pressure to rush through this excellent game.

Vampire Survivors developer Poncle on what it takes to be a good publisher: “Not everything can be a breakout hit”

Getting your game a publishing deal has never been an easy thing to do. Right now, it’s especially hard given that for many publishers, if it doesn’t seem like a guaranteed hit, it likely isn’t something they’ll take on. This is something that Vampire Survivors developer Poncle, or rather the actual person, Luca Galante, takes great issue with, and in a recent interview he spoke more broadly of his issues with publishers, and his thoughts on now being one.


“I see a lot of publishers I don’t like, and I think that’s my way to define what a good publisher should be, probably,” Galante explained to GamesRadar. “I see a lot of publishers that try to exploit the platforms just to make money, basically, because the video game industry is very obviously an industry that makes a lot of money. There is a lot of money to make. I see that these publishers will try and just exploit platforms for money.”


He went on to note how there are publishers who will put out simply incomplete games, or early access games that never get finished, and that for him, “what a publisher should do is, first of all, make genuine games, genuine products, something that has some real value, and then understand that not everything can be a breakout hit.” Galante also spoke of the importance of post-launch support, and for him this is “definitely a big thing from my point of view that publishers should be able to offer.”


As of now, Poncle has published two games, Berserk or Die, a beat ’em up where you have to mash your keyboard to beat enemies, and Kill the Brickman, a Brick Breaker-esque, turn-based roguelike game, both of which are cheap as chips (£3 and £4 respectively).


It’s these kinds of affordable games with smaller teams that Galante wants to lean towards in publishing, and in particular his priority is to find devs “that are very transparent in what they do, they want to talk with their community, and they have a real, genuine passion for making games.” Not only that, it’s important to him that these devs get to realise their vision by enriching it, as opposed to forcing in things like microtransactions or season passes.


Galante is, perhaps most importantly, fully aware with how lucky he got with Vampire Survivors, and that’s why he wants to publish other games. “We definitely made some mistakes when it comes to putting the game out there, but we learned a lot, and wanted to try to sort of share what we learned with other indies. It was a way to try and give something back to the indie community, share the luck.” Good luck indeed! At this point in time, every dev needs every ounce of the stuff they can get.
