xAI debuts a faster and more cost-effective version of Grok 4

by admin September 20, 2025

A few months after the release of Grok 4 and an extremely problematic antisemitic meltdown of its chatbot, xAI is already trying to move on with its latest AI model. Elon Musk’s xAI announced the release of Grok 4 Fast, a faster, more efficient reasoning model compared to its recent predecessor. According to xAI, Grok 4 Fast offers similar performance to Grok 4 while using 40 percent fewer thinking tokens on average.

Along with faster results, xAI said Grok 4 Fast “results in a 98% reduction in price to achieve the same performance on frontier benchmarks as Grok 4,” whether it’s handling tasks that involve writing code or just browsing the web for quick responses. Similar to OpenAI’s GPT-5 that alternates between a smart, efficient model and a deeper reasoning model, xAI’s latest update includes a unified architecture that can transition between handling complex requests with its “reasoning” model and quick responses through its “non-reasoning model.”

In tests on LMArena, a platform that pits AI models against each other and provides side-by-side comparisons, Grok 4 Fast ranks first in search-related tasks and eighth in text-related tasks. xAI made Grok 4 Fast available for all users, including the free ones, on web, iOS and Android. However, with how competitive the LLM race is getting, it’s only a matter of time before Google releases the next-gen version of Gemini or Anthropic updates the Claude Opus model beyond the recently released 4.1 version.

Grok Predicts XRP Price After Spot ETF Sees Crazy Demand: PEPENODE to 10x Soon?

by admin September 19, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

For months, crypto institutions and enthusiasts were on their toes waiting for an XRP ETF, believing it would mark one of the biggest steps forward not just for Ripple’s native crypto but for the entire market.

And boy, were they right! The REX-Osprey XRP ETF launched on the Cboe BZX Exchange under the ticker $XRPR, breaking several records on day one of trading.

By the end of the day, $XRPR had clocked $37.75M in volume, the highest ever for an ETF on its first day.

Read on as we unpack XRPR in detail and explore what it could mean for its underlying token $XRP. We’ll also highlight the best crypto to buy now (spoiler alert: it’s PEPENODE) to make the most of this opportunity.

Let’s Dig Into Some XRPR Technicals

It’s worth noting that $XRPR is structured under the Investment Company Act of 1940 in partnership with REX Shares and Osprey. This is why $XRPR isn’t a ‘pure’ spot ETF but instead employs a ‘hybrid’ arrangement.

This means that, instead of exclusively holding $XRP, the fund allocates at least 40% of its capital into other XRP-linked ETFs or ETPs, while part of its assets are managed via a Cayman Islands subsidiary.

Despite these technical quirks, $XRPR blew past all expectations at launch.

According to Eric Balchunas, most crypto ETFs only see around $1M in first-day volume. $XRPR topped that by 37 times, a clear indicator of strong market demand.

XRPR Sets $XRP’s Path to $4

It’s a no-brainer that the primary beneficiary of the XRP ETF movement is the $XRP token itself. It’s already up 10% this month, but the million-dollar question is: where to next?

To gain an objective view of XRP’s price prospects, we turned to Grok. With direct integration to X, Grok has access to real-time updates, price movements, and even community sentiment.

The AI highlighted that XRP recently broke out of a descending triangle formation, signaling a continuation of its September surge.

Back in July, $XRP rallied 66% in three weeks before undergoing a minor correction. This fresh breakout suggests $XRP could reclaim its previous all-time high of $3.6614 and push toward the $4 mark.

And no, Grok didn’t pull out this $4 target out of thin air; it’s based on technical analysis.

According to the technical analysis playbook, we can measure the width of the descending triangle (blue box) and project it from the breakout level to arrive at a target – which, in this case, is $4.

Beyond fueling XRP’s surge, XRPR’s strong debut could also accelerate approval of other spot XRP ETF proposals currently pending with the SEC, many of which could be greenlit within the next two months.

Beyond XRP: Where the Bigger Opportunity Lies

While XRP and XRP-backed ETFs have shown promising upside, there’s more to this rally than meets the eye. The real game-changer lies in identifying high-potential, low-cap coins that haven’t yet gone mainstream.

Today’s top pick? PEPENODE ($PEPENODE). It’s a gamified mining experience that blends fun with real earning potential.

PEPENODE makes crypto mining accessible to everyday users by letting them build virtual mining rigs and earn rewards, all without expensive hardware or sky-high energy costs.

Read on as we explore why Grok believes PEPENODE could be the next crypto to explode.

What is PEPENODE?

PEPENODE is a mine-to-earn meme coin that brings the thrill and fun of meme coin mining in the virtual world.

Mining meme coins isn’t cheap. It requires expensive hardware and substantial daily running costs, which is why not everyone can become a miner.

However, PEPENODE gives you the opportunity to build a virtual mining rig and earn rewards in the process.

It’s a gamified experience that feels realistic with dashboards that show hashrates, energy, and rewards – all without the hefty electricity bills attached to crypto mining.

How to Mine Tokens on PEPENODE

When you purchase your first $PEPENODE, you start with an empty server room. Think of it as a blank canvas that you paint over using a mix of investment and skill.

You’ll need to buy ‘nodes’ using $PEPENODE. Each node boosts your rig’s mining capacity, and the more nodes you buy and set up in your server room, the more rewards you’ll generate.

Now, here’s the interesting part: you can combine and synchronize nodes to increase mining capacity, making the experience even more fun.

Each node pairing has a different effect, giving you plenty of freedom and opportunities to experiment with various combinations.

These nodes can be purchased, upgraded, and even sold. You start with a basic mining setup and can upgrade all the way to massive mining farms – just like in a video game.

The difference is that, unlike gaming, you earn real rewards in the form of $PEPENODE, $FARTCOIN, and $PEPE.

Why Should You Buy $PEPENODE Now?

When you buy other presale tokens, you usually just hold them and wait until listing. At most, you can stake them for some additional rewards.

But with $PEPENODE, the rewards start piling up when you make your first purchase and start building your rig.

PEPENODE also rewards early adopters, as nodes purchased early have a higher mining capacity. The earlier you invest, the more powerful and rewarding your rigs can become.

And if you have extra $PEPENODE after building your rig, you can stake them to earn an additional reward of 1,018% p.a. (currently).

This rate will decrease as the presale progresses, so the earlier you join, the higher your returns.

Currently in presale, $PEPENODE has already raised over $1.3M from early investors, with each token priced at just $0.001066.

Check out PEPENODE’s official website to learn more about its unique mine-to-earn mechanism.

xAI sues an ex-employee for allegedly stealing trade secrets about Grok

by admin August 30, 2025

xAI doesn’t want its secret recipe for Grok to get out, and it’s filing a lawsuit to make sure of that. In a lawsuit filed earlier this week, xAI claimed that former employee Xuechen Li stole the company’s confidential info and trade secrets before joining the team at OpenAI.

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company also alleged that Li copied documents from an xAI company laptop to at least one of his personal devices. According to the suit, Li stole “cutting-edge AI technologies with features superior to those offered by ChatGPT and other competing products. This confidential info could result in a potential edge for rival companies in the AI market and “could save OpenAI and other competitors billions in R&D dollars and years of engineering effort,” xAI said in the lawsuit. The company behind Grok accused Li of taking “extensive measures to conceal his misconduct,” including renaming files, compressing files before uploading them to his personal devices and deleting browser history.

The lawsuit added that Li asked xAI to buy back company shares that were given as part of his compensation package, totaling approximately $7 million, before leaving the company to join OpenAI. xAI is asking the courts to file a temporary restraining order that forces its former employee to give up access to any personal devices or online storage services and return any confidential material to the company. On top of that, xAI wants to temporarily block Li from working at OpenAI or any other competitor until the company has recovered all of its trade secrets.

xAI’s lawsuit comes amidst a major talent war between leading AI companies looking for top researchers. These AI researchers are highly sought after, with competitors offering up to $250 million pay packages in attempts to poach them from their current companies. Beyond the AI talent war, Musk and xAI recently sued OpenAI and Apple, claiming the two companies are working together to maintain a monopoly on the AI market.

The White House Apparently Ordered Federal Workers to Roll Out Grok ‘ASAP’

by admin August 30, 2025

The White House appears to have instructed leaders at the General Services Administration (GSA) to add xAI’s Grok chatbot to a list of approved vendors “ASAP,” according to an email sent by agency leadership earlier this week, which WIRED obtained.

“Team: Grok/xAI needs to go back on the schedule ASAP per the WH,” states the email, sent by Josh Gruenbaum, the commissioner of the Federal Acquisition Service. “Can someone get with Carahsoft on this immediately and please confirm?” Carahsoft is a major government contractor that resells technology from third-party firms.

“Should be all of their products we had previously (3 & 4),” the email continued, seemingly referring to Grok 3 and Grok 4. The subject line of the email was “xAI add Grok-4.”

Sources say Carahsoft’s contract was modified to include xAI earlier this week. Grok 3 and Grok 4 both currently appear on GSA Advantage (an online marketplace for government agencies to buy products and services) as of Friday morning. Now, following some internal reviews, any government agency can roll Grok out to federal workers.

The White House and GSA did not respond to a request for comment from WIRED.

The email comes after a planned partnership with xAI fell apart earlier this summer following Grok’s widespread praise for Hitler and the spouting of other antisemitic beliefs on X, WIRED previously reported.

In June, employees from xAI met with GSA leadership for a two-hour brainstorming session to discuss how xAI’s Grok chatbot could be used by the government. Federal workers were surprised to see their leaders press for a contract with a company marketing an uncensored chatbot with a history of erratic behavior. In early July, Grok, which is integrated into Elon Musk’s social platform X, seemingly went off the rails and started praising Hitler. GSA leadership took Grok off the Multiple Award Schedule, which is GSA’s long-term government contracting platform, according to sources at the agency. When GSA announced buzzy partnerships with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google earlier this month, xAI wasn’t mentioned at all.

xAI is Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup. Musk, who also helms the social network X in addition to a number of other companies, played a crucial role in President Donald Trump’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). He stepped back from his public-facing role at DOGE this spring, following a massive fight with the president. A number of his associates continue to work in government pushing DOGE’s cost-cutting and AI-first agenda.

Google Gemini and Elon Musk’s Grok Are Gaining on ChatGPT

by admin August 29, 2025

In brief

  • ChatGPT still leads, but Google’s Gemini and Musk’s Grok are closing fast, per Andreessen Horowitz’s Top 100 AI Apps.
  • The AI app market is stabilizing—fewer new entrants on web, more originality on mobile.
  • China’s AI giants and “Brink List” newcomers show the next wave of global challengers.

For more than a year, OpenAI’s ChatGPT has been the undisputed heavyweight of consumer generative AI.

But according to the latest “Top 100 Gen AI Consumer Apps” report from venture capital giant Andreessen Horowitz, which analyzes two-and-a-half years of AI usage data, the challengers are finally starting to close the gap. Google’s Gemini and Elon Musk’s Grok are climbing the charts, signaling that rivals are coming for OpenAI’s crown.

That said, the Gen AI ecosystem is showing signs of stabilization. The web list saw 11 newcomers compared to 17 in March 2025, indicating less churn. The mobile app market, however, saw 14 new entries, partly due to app stores cracking down on “ChatGPT copycats,” making room for more original apps.

The report also seems to be somewhat at odds with a June SimilarWeb analysis that showed that OpenAI’s GPT was eating the web, with some 5.5 billion visits a month.

The big takeaways

That could be explained, of course, by how rapidly the AI landscape is shifting. Google has been making significant moves, with four products entering the web list for the first time. Gemini, its general LLM assistant, now ranks second on the web, capturing about 12% of ChatGPT’s web visits.

Other notable Google products include AI Studio (developer-oriented, top 10 web) and NotebookLM (#13 web), which has seen steady growth. On mobile, Gemini is also #2, with strong Android usage (nearly 90% of its MAUs).

While ChatGPT still leads among general LLM assistants, Google, xAI, and Meta are closing the gap.

X’s Grok jumped from no mobile app in late 2024 to 20 million MAUs, ranking #4 on web and #23 on mobile. This surge was fueled by the release of Grok 4—with improved reasoning, real-time search, and tool integration—and the introduction of AI companion avatars. Meta AI, however, has seen more subdued growth, ranking #46 on the web list and missing the mobile cutoff. DeepSeek and Claude have seen mobile usage flatten, while Perplexity continues to grow.

The AI world, of course, includes significantly more users than those who use the dominant platforms in the west. Chinese AI apps are gaining significant traction globally. Three China-serving companies—Quark (#9 web, #47 mobile), Doubao (#12 web, #4 mobile), and Kimi (#17 web)—are in the web top 20, largely due to China being the largest market and restrictions on non-Chinese LLMs.

Additionally, a substantial portion of the web list and 22 of the top 50 mobile apps—especially in photo/video editing, with Meitu contributing five entries—are developed in China and are now “exported” globally. Chinese video models, in particular, show an advantage, potentially due to more research focus and fewer IP regulations.

“Vibe coding” platforms are generating strong user engagement and revenue retention. Lovable and Replit debuted on the main list, while Bolt, previously a newcomer, is now on the “Brink List.” These platforms are also boosting traffic for other AI products and infrastructure providers like Supabase.

The report, now in its fifth edition, continues to anoint “All-Stars.” Fourteen companies have consistently appeared in all five editions of the web top 50, earning them “All-Star” status. These include general assistance (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Poe), companionship (Character AI), image generation (Midjourney, Leonardo), editing (Veed, Cutout), voice generation (Eleven Labs), productivity (Photoroom, Gamma, Quillbot), and model hosting (Civitai, HuggingFace). These All-Stars primarily hail from the U.S., UK, Australia, China, and France.

And finally, to track momentum at the edges, Andreessen Horowitz now publishes a “Brink List”—the five web and five mobile apps closest to breaking in. From the previous cycle, three “almosts” actually made it: Lovable (#22 web), PolyBuzz, and Pixverse. The message is clear: Today’s near-misses can be tomorrow’s breakouts.

The bottom line

ChatGPT still leads—but Gemini and Grok’s rise proves the fight is no longer one-sided. As Andreessen Horowitz’s top 100 shows, the consumer AI ecosystem is growing up, but it hasn’t stopped mutating. The giants may be closing the gap, but the next big breakout could still come from the “brink.”

You can now download and tweak Grok 2.5 for yourself as it goes open source

by admin August 24, 2025

Unhinged as Grok may be, it’s now open source. xAI’s CEO, Elon Musk, posted on X that the company made the older Grok 2.5 model available to the public and will do the same with the upcoming Grok 3. For now, anyone can download, run and even tweak Grok, whose source code was uploaded to the Hugging Face platform. However, there are restrictions to xAI’s open-source license, which doesn’t let people use Grok to train, create or improve other AI models.

It’s not the first time xAI has made its models available to the public. In March 2024, the company released the raw base model of Grok-1, which isn’t finetuned for any specific task. As xAI continues to make Grok more accessible, it’s a stark contrast to OpenAI, which has only offered less powerful models of its ChatGPT model to researchers and businesses.

Making Grok open source allows independent developers to potentially improve on the AI model, but xAI is still trying to move past an extremely alarming episode of Grok providing antisemitic responses and referencing itself as MechaHitler. The Grok team attributed the incident to “deprecated code” that has since been fixed. As for Grok 3, Musk also said on X that it will also go open source in six months, but we may have to take that estimated release with a grain of salt, considering the CEO’s other promised timelines.
