XRP Marks Another Win As SEC Approves Grayscale’s GDLC ETF

The cryptocurrency industry and the XRP market have scored a major win, with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approving Grayscale’s Digital Large Cap Fund, known as GDLC, for uplisting as an Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF). The timing of this approval has sparked renewed optimism among investors, particularly as XRP cements its position in a rapidly evolving crypto ETF landscape.

XRP Gains Legitimacy Through Grayscale’s GDLC ETF

On September 18, Grayscale Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Mintzberg announced via X social media that the Grayscale Digital Large Cap Fund has been approved for trading under the SEC’s Generic Listing Standards. The move represents a watershed moment, as it will be the first multi-crypto asset ETP in the US market.

The product, now renamed the “Grayscale CoinDesk Crypto 5 ETF,” will provide investors with exposure to a diversified basket of five major digital assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and Cardano. For XRP holders, this development is particularly significant, as it positions the cryptocurrency at the forefront of institutional-grade investment products.

Grayscale’s move ensures that XRP will share the same investment vehicle as the two largest cryptocurrencies, BTC and ETH, placing it firmly within the category of assets gaining mainstream recognition and adoption. This also marks a sharp turnaround from just a few years ago, when XRP’s regulatory uncertainty, stemming from the previous SEC lawsuit, had caused several crypto exchanges and platforms to delist the token.

Notably, Mintzberg highlighted the SEC Crypto Task Force’s role in driving the much-needed clarity for the industry, emphasizing that regulatory collaboration is accelerating the transition of digital assets into traditional finance. For XRP, this could mean greater visibility, more liquidity, and easier access for institutional investors who prefer ETF exposure over direct token purchases.

XRP ETF To Fuel Bull Flag Breakout To $15

According to crypto expert Zenia, XRP has confirmed a Bull Flag breakout, setting the stage for a short-term move toward $5.80. Beyond that, the analyst notes a larger pattern that stretches back to 2024, suggesting that XRP could target $15, representing a potential gain of more than 400% from its current levels.

The weekly chart shows XRP steadily recovering from its previous consolidation phase, with bullish candles pushing above $3.10 and momentum indicators such as the Relative Strength Index (RSI) holding strong without showing signs of exhaustion. Zenia has highlighted that the first target at $5.8 serves as the immediate resistance, while the second target at $15 represents the more ambitious upside projection tied to the Bull Flag structure.

With ETF exposure now in play, XRP could finally break free from the cycle of stalled rallies that have defined past bull markets. Zenia also notes that XRP’s partnerships with global financial institutions, such as DBS Group and Franklin Templeton, are creating real-world utility to complement its bullish technical setup.

SEC Makes Spot Crypto ETF Listing Process Easier, Approves Grayscale’s Large-Cap Crypto Fund

by admin September 18, 2025

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Wednesday approved a set of rules for exchanges to list exchange-traded products (ETPs) holding spot commodities, including cryptocurrencies, without requiring the agency’s individual review each time.

The decision will enable exchanges to proceed with the listing of proposed ETFs by sidestepping the often-lengthy 19(b) rule filing process that can take up to 240 days and requires the SEC to actively approve or disapprove an ETF.

Essentially, the process will be more streamlined than before.

ETF Issuers will approach exchanges (Nasdaq, NYSE, CBOE) with a product idea and desire to list their ETF. If the proposed strategy (token or combination of tokens) of the issuers meets the generic listing standard, then the exchange can proceed with listing the ETF.

SEC Chairman Paul Atkins said the decision was aimed at reducing barriers to accessing digital asset products in regulated U.S. marketplaces.

“By approving these generic listing standards, we are ensuring that our capital markets remain the best place in the world to engage in the cutting-edge innovation of digital assets,” SEC Chairman Paul Atkins said in a statement.

Alongside the rule change, the agency signed off on the Grayscale Digital Large Cap Fund, which tracks the assets in the CoinDesk 5 Index and currently consists of bitcoin BTC$116,694.56, ether (ETH), XRP XRP$3.0902, Solana SOL$245.57 and Cardano ADA$0.9142.

The regulator also approved the launch of options tied to the Cboe Bitcoin U.S. ETF Index and its mini version, broadening the set of crypto-linked derivatives available on regulated U.S. markets.

Big move for altcoin ETFs

The SEC’s listing standards could potentially open the way for a wave of spot-based altcoin ETFs that have been waiting for regulators’ nod to enter the market.

“This is the crypto ETP framework we’ve been waiting for,” James Seyffart, ETF research analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence, said in an X post. “Get ready for a wave of spot crypto ETP launches in coming weeks and months.”

Echoing this sentiment, Kristin Smith, the President of Solana Policy Institute, said, “We are incredibly encouraged by tonight’s news: the SEC continues to promote the rule of law by setting clear rules of the road for US businesses and to take positive steps to allow American investors to safely access digital assets.”

“These new generic listing standards are a net-positive for U.S. investors, markets, and digital asset innovation. Excited for the next wave of crypto adoption!,” she added.

UPDATE (Sept. 8, 12:05 UTC): Corrects 270 days to 240 days and clarifies the process of approval.

SEC Delays Decision on Grayscale’s Hedera Trust as Firm Updates Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin Filings

by admin September 10, 2025

In brief

  • The SEC set November 12 as the new deadline for Grayscale’s Hedera Trust.
  • Grayscale submitted updates for its Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin trusts, with both structured to list on NYSE Arca.
  • The delayed decision adds to a wave of over 90 crypto ETF applications, including Solana and XRP products now pending before the Commission.

The SEC has pushed back its decision on Nasdaq’s bid to list the Grayscale Hedera Trust as the investment firm filed updated registrations for its Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin trusts.

The SEC is designating November 12 as the new deadline, according to an order on Grayscale’s Hedera Trust published Tuesday.

On the same day, Grayscale submitted registration statements for its Bitcoin Cash Trust and Litecoin Trust, both of which were filed on Form S-3 as existing vehicles that already report to the SEC.

Bank of New York Mellon is listed as administrator, while Coinbase will serve as custodian and prime broker. Both funds are structured to list on NYSE Arca.

Separately, Grayscale has filed a Form S-1 for the Hedera Trust, marking its initial registration with the SEC on the same day. The S-1 outlines a new product that would trade under the ticker HBAR, contingent on Nasdaq’s pending rule-change request to permit its listing.

Under U.S. securities law, the SEC normally has 180 days to decide on a proposed exchange rule change, but can add another 60 days, often to review comments or amendments before making a final decision.

The latest delay is part of a broader pattern.

Earlier in August, the SEC exercised its final procedural extension on pending Solana ETF applications, pushing the deadline to October 16.

The commission decided it would need more time to assess the Cboe BZX proposals from Bitwise and 21Shares, as well as other filings from Canary Funds and Marinade Finance.

Before August ended, over 90 crypto ETF applications had lined up for SEC action, spanning products tied to Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, and other digital assets.

Most are clustered around deadlines set by fall, raising the prospect of multiple rulings in quick succession as the Commission weighs how far to extend approvals beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum, which were approved last year.

“Assets with near-term ETF product decisions often command premium pricing on the open market,” Lionel Iruk, managing partner at Empire Legal, said in a statement shared with Decrypt.

An ETF wrapper “unlocks more than fresh liquidity for digital assets,” he said. “It provides the compliance, custody, and transparency frameworks that traditional investors often require before making any investment decision.”

Such a structure “amplifies their appeal beyond the crypto-native audience,” he said, adding that the appeal of crypto ETFs is anchored on their “potential transition from speculative enthusiasm to structured, regulated offerings that meet institutional standards.”
