The Girl Who Leapt Through Time 4K Steelbook Blu-Ray Announced

by admin June 21, 2025

Mamoru Hosoda has established himself as one of the best modern anime directors, having directed several critically acclaimed films over the past 20 years. Several of his movies have received new steelbook edition 4K Blu-ray releases in the past few months, and soon, his first movie, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, will join the collection. While there’s no release date set, listings are up at Amazon, and we expect it will be available soon. In the meantime, there are several other Hosoda films available for preorder and purchase now, including Wolf Children, Summer Wars, and Belle. We’ve compiled all the Hosoda 4K steelbook Blu-rays in the list below.

$37 | Relase date TBA

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is Hosoda’s first film and originally released back in 2001. It follows Makoto Konno, a teenager who attains time-travel powers. At first, she uses her abilities to fix frivolous problems, but she quickly learns that meddling with timelines can have drastic consequences. This limited edition 4K Blu-ray release includes an exclusive steelbook case.

Bonus materials for the film haven’t been confirmed yet, but previous Blu-ray releases for The Girl Who Leapt Through Time include tons of excellent extras, and there’s a strong chance some of those are folded into this new 4K Steelbook Edition.

While The Girl Who Leapt Through Time 4K Steelbook Blu-ray is listed at Amazon, it doesn’t have a release date and is currently unavailable to purchase. We expect it’ll be in stock again soon, however. In the meantime, there are several other Hosoda films up for preorder and available to purchase now.

$37 | Releases on August 5

A 4K Steelbook of Hosoda’s 2012 film Wolf Children releases on August 5 and is available to preorder for $37 at Amazon. The movie tells the story of Hana, a human woman who falls in love with a werewolf and eventually gives birth to two half-wolf children. After her husband tragically dies, Hana moves to an old house in the countryside to raise her children in this touching tale about motherhood, loss, and family. Special features include a commentary track from the cast and crew, promotional materials, and more.

$30

Earlier this year, Hosuda’s Summer Wars also received a 4K Steelbook Edition available exclusively at Amazon. Summer Wars follows Kenji, a young student obsessed with virtual reality. Kenji’s friend Natsuki ropes him into a scheme where he poses as her girlfriend, but things go haywire when a rogue AI program steals his online identity and frames him for real-world catastrophes. With an imminent cyber-apocalypse on the horizon, Kenji and Natsuki’s family unite to save the day and clear his name. The Amazon-exclusive Summer Wars 4K Steelbook Blu-ray includes the movie, a collectible steelbook case, and a selection of special features like interviews with the cast and Hosoda.

$45.49

Lastly, there’s the 4K Steelbook Collector’s Edition of Hosoda’s newest film, Belle. This released back in 2022, and is available for $45.49 at Amazon. Belle follows Suzu, a high schooler who lives a double life. In reality, she’s a shy teenager who lives in a rural village–but online, she’s known as Belle, a wildly popular virtual-reality singer. When a mysterious beast crashes one of her online concerts, Suzu sets off on a journey to discover the truth behind the creature and her true self.

This 4K Collector’s Edition Blu-ray includes a 60-page art book, poster, sticker, and art cards, plus special features like behind-the-scenes production documentaries, music videos, and interviews.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is, unexpectedly, getting an open-world roguelike mode

by admin June 20, 2025

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time – the sequel to developer Level 5’s 2012 Nintendo DS life sim and RPG thing – is getting a bunch of free DLC, which we already knew. What we weren’t previously aware of, however, is that its DLC will include an open-world roguelike mode.

It’s not entirely clear why a relatively laidback, job-focused life sim RPG would want to get in on the roguelike action, but that’s what Level 5 is going for. As detailed in its announcement blog, the update – which is currently “actively underway” – will feature an “evolved version of Ginormosia, including a system blending roguelike and open-world elements”.

Level 5’s announcement stops short of explaining how the new mode will actually work, but it does say the update will include “engaging content for both experienced players and newcomers alike.” Additionally, the update promises “powerful new gear”, plus “stylish equipment, mounts, and a variety of unusual items.” A telephone made of butts immediately springs to mind, but I suspect I’m likely to be disappointed.

Fantasy Life i – features trailer.Watch on YouTube

And we’re not quite done yet. Fantasy Life i’s free DLC update will also include a brand-new character who’ll “leave a significant mark on the world”, plus new hairstyles and new emotes to “make it even more enjoyable for players to express themselves in-game”. As for when all this will show up, Level 5 says “as soon as possible”.

“Level 5 appreciates everyone’s continued support and remains committed to continuously refining Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time,” it concludes in its announcement post, “as well as expanding content to provide the best possible gaming experience.”

Why all this free DLC? That’ll be down to Fantasy Life i’s impressive sales, with the game having already shifted 1m copies since its release at the end of May. Level 5 is also celebrating the milestone with a “commemorative gift code” that’ll unlock an “exclusive piece of equipment”, plus a “commemorative Pegasus mount” – although its post profusely apologises for mistakenly giving players on certain platforms a unicorn instead. That error should now be fixed, alas.

And if you’d like to bump that sales number up to 1m and one, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is available now on Steam, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Switch, and Switch 2.

As if 14 jobs wasn’t enough work, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is getting an open world roguelike mode

by admin June 19, 2025

You would think that being able to take on 14 different jobs would be enough to keep most people busy in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, but to Level-5 it seems like that won’t be enough. Last month, the developer announced that because the RPG has done so well, they’ll be releasing a free update/ bit of DLC called Update the World, and they’ve now offered a couple of details as to what that’ll be.

Apparently, it’ll be a “roguelike open world” mode, which mostly just sounds like a bit of an awkward translation, but the post detailing the mode did explain it a touch at least: “The update will feature an evolved version of Ginormosia, including a system blending roguelike and open-world elements that offers engaging content for both experienced players and newcomers alike.” So, kind of what it says on the tin honestly. No details were shared as to how the mode will work, but there will be some new gear, equipment, mounts, hairstyles, emotes, and “unusual items”.

A bit of character art featuring an evil, wizardy looking big dog creature with a mysterious set of cases attached to their back was also shown off. This new character will arrive with the update, and “plays a pivotal role in the story and is set to leave a significant mark on the world.” Kind of love Level-5 just dropping a PNG of some guy almost completely contextlessly.

The team is apparently “actively working” on all this new stuff, but there’s no release date in sight for it just yet. Considering how big that game is though, I’m sure you’ve got more than enough to be getting on with in the meantime.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time gets a visual boost thanks to Switch 2 update

by admin June 14, 2025

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time has received an update that offers visual improvements when played on the Switch 2, a nice bonus for fans who want to pick up and play the RPG on the new console.

These improvements include graphic enhancements such as new shadow and reflection efforts, as well as an extension to the distance objects are rendered at. For example, you can now see a forest off into the distance clearly, whereas before it may have looked like a low-poly blur of green shrubbery.

In the official update blog post uploaded to the games’ official website, we see that exact example in a side-by-side comparison, as well as a pair of screenshots showing water effects on the Switch vs the Switch 2. Water now has lovely reflections of light on it. A little thing for some, but a little boost for those willing to make the leap to a new console, cosy RPG in hand.

You can check out an official Fantasy Life I trailer here!Watch on YouTube

Other features of this update include an automatic lock-on feature that should make combat a little easier, as well as an adjustment to the Hagram build feature allowing players to press the cancel button and return a moved object to its original position.

God’s Touch was adjusted too! It can now be cancelled by attacking or dodging, plus the button assigned to activating God’s Touch has been relocated on the game pad. Game pad users also have an increased selection of key configurations, and all players can benefit from a new depth of field graphical option.

For those unaware, Fantasy Life i; The Girl Who Steals Time is a very popular RPG that got off to an outstanding start, selling 500,000 copies in just three days. In response to this success, the developers offered free DLCthat included new recipes and expanded content earlier this year.

All Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time codes

by admin May 29, 2025

Fantasy Life i codes are a great way to get hold of items without having to earn or make them for yourself. If you need a quick boost or you’re just starting out your new life in Reveria, then these codes are an easy way to get ahead of the game.

Although there aren’t many codes currently available for Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, more are likely to roll out in the future, whether as part of an event or to celebrate a game milestone. After all, it’s still early days for the game. It’s a huge plus that we have three hefty codes already. We do expect these to expire though, so be sure to redeem them as soon as you can. Here are all the Fantasy Life i gift codes currently available, and how you can redeem them.

How to redeem codes in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time

Before you can redeem your gift codes, you need to have reached the point in the game where you can pick your first Life at the Guild Office & Paladin Guild in Eternia Village. Completing this part of the quest will unlock the Gift option on your Weird Pad, which is where you can input your codes. Once you’ve entered a code, your rewards immediately appear in your inventory.

The codes are case sensitive as well, so if you’re met with an error message at first, make sure everything is in capital letters. You’ll also need to have an internet connection in order to get your rewards, which is annoying if you’re playing on the go with a handheld. But, I guess we can’t complain too much.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage: Every Moth Girl Location

by admin May 29, 2025

Image: Don’t Nod

Remember back in the ‘90s when Furby brought delight and horror to people of all ages? In Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, Swann keeps a little cryptid toy called Moth Girl, a parody of Moth Girl that’s just as cute and terrifying, with antlers below her antennae and moth wings for which she is named. Whenever she gets the opportunity, Swann takes Moth Girl out of her backpack and sets her down to film her in places that feel like the perfect place for a little cryptid to hang out. It’s all a part of a growing memoir called Capturing The Cryptid!, the story about a creature who lurks around various locales in Velvet Cove unbeknownst to its residents.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Part 2 Is Short, Shocking, And Strangely Satisfying

Not only is Moth Girl cute all on her own, but she also plays into the insect motif for Swann while serving as a conduit for her creative inspiration. In the first half of Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, you’ll need to film Moth Girl in six different places.

Moth Girl Spot 1

Record a clip of Moth Girl sitting on the window sill in Swann’s bedroom at the beginning of the game.

Moth Girl Spot 2

Screenshot: Don’t Nod / Cristina Alexander / Kotaku

While at the lake near Fawn’s Rest/Fawn’s Curse, set Moth Girl down on the moss-covered rock in front of the beach ball.

Moth Girl Spot 3

Set Moth Girl down on the ledge of the second floor of Fawn’s Rest/Fawn’s Curse and record her looking over the vast lake.

Moth Girl Spot 4

Screenshot: Don’t Nod / Cristina Alexander / Kotaku

After interviewing Kat, record Moth Girl sitting on the swing at the abandoned playground where Swann and the girls met each other and looked for Autumn’s keys to the Yooper Scooper earlier in the game.

Moth Girl Spot 5

Screenshot: Don’t Nod / Cristina Alexander / Kotaku

While setting up for Bloom & Rage’s first concert at The Blue Spruce, set Moth Girl down on the beach chair next to the three beer bottles and an ashtray after unlocking the gate to the back of the bar and/or finding the extension cable and turning on the stage lights.

Moth Girl Spot 6

Screenshot: Don’t Nod / Cristina Alexander / Kotaku

Record Moth Girl sitting on the AUX speaker in front of the Bloom & Rage banner draped over the Mikaelsen Ranch pickup truck before putting the last two Bloom & Rage stickers on the wall of the bar and the payphone. Putting the stickers on beforehand won’t give you that filming opportunity.

Tapes One and Two of Lost Records: Bloom & Rage are available now for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PCs.

Level-5 are so pleased with how Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is doing they’re giving away a free bit of DLC

by admin May 25, 2025

I wasn’t expecting it personally, but it seems like the new hotness is Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, ‘ey? Sure, it’s from a studio like Level-5, who’ve made massive games from Yo-kai Watch to Professor Layton. I just didn’t expect a sequel to a 3DS game from over a decade ago to do so well. In fact, it appears Level-5 is so happy with how much money everyone’s given them, it’ll be giving away a free bit of DLC for the RPG at some point in the future.

The DLC is called “Update the World!” which is a wonderful little title, and a sentence I’d expect from some anime villain obsessed with tech who wants to install a new operating system on Earth, or something. In terms of what it’ll include, there’ll be “new content designed to make use of high-rarity weapons obtained from Treasure Groves and other sources.”

Maybe that’ll mean more quests, or side activities, I’m not entirely sure, it’s pretty vague. Though perhaps not as vague as the fact that there’ll be “new recipes added” in the DLC too. Yummy, I love recipes! Level-5 also promised that they will “continue to update and improve Fantasy Life i so that players can enjoy its world more comfortably and for an even longer time.”

As it stands, there’s no release date for this bit of DLC, kind of seems like a “we sold lots of copies so we can announce this but we’re not quite ready for it yet” type of announcement. Either way, there’s already lots to be getting on with given you’ve got 14 lives to choose from, an existentially terrifying point that I won’t spend too much time on.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time hits 500,000 sales in three days

by admin May 24, 2025

Level 5’s role-playing sim Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time has hit 500,000 sales in just three days.

Addressing the thousands of players who had bought the game on PC, PS5, Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and last-gen systems, the developer thanked players by releasing an all-new illustration marking the milestone.

“Fantasy Life i has officially surpassed 500,000 copies sold worldwide!” exclaimed developer Level 5. “To show our gratitude, we’re releasing a brand-new illustration!

“This is just the beginning!” the studio added. “We hope you continue enjoying your cozy, one-of-a-kind slow Life in Reveria to the fullest!”

The team also announced Update the World!, a free DLC pack that adds news recipes, as well as “content designed to help your high-rarity weapons truly shine, as you aim even higher in your adventure”. Expect more details, including the release window, “soon”.

As Matt summarised for us recently, The Girl Who Steals Time is a sequel to Level 5’s Fantasy Life – a sort of job-focussed mash-mash of life sim and RPG – which enjoyed modest critical and commercial success when it launched for Nintendo DS back in 2012. Eurogamer’s celebrated its “abundance of features” in our 6/10 review at the time, but noted the result was often “less than the sum of its parts”.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is available now on Steam, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Switch, with a Switch 2 version coming later this year.
