The best Prime Day SSD deals include discounts on gear from Crucial, Samsung and more

by admin October 4, 2025

October Prime Day is here again, and as always, we’ve put together a list of the best, most-discounted extra storage options for consoles and gaming PCs. Our guide to the top storage deals is split into three categories — tiny microSD cards, portable external SSDs and generally faster (but more labor-intensive) internal SSDs. Whether you’re building a gaming rig or just want to stop your PS5 from lagging, there’s almost certainly a deal for you on our curated list. Take a look now to see what kind of extra storage might best fit your needs.

Best October Prime Day SSD deals

Amazon

Fifth-generation SSDs are still a little faster than most people need, but with software only getting bigger, use cases are likely to grow. To get an early jump on future speeds, check out the Crucial T710 with 2TB of storage, a super-fast SSD that reads at up to 14,500MB/s. This deal doesn’t include a heatsink, but it does come with free hardware encryption.

$230 (36 percent off) at Amazon

Crucial X10 4TB Portable SSD for $240 (39 percent off): The Crucial X9 is our current favorite portable SSD, but the X10 is a step beyond. Based on USB 3.2, it’s compatible with a wide range of devices, and reaches reading speeds of 2,100MB/s — all in an extremely portable pocket-sized case.

Crucial BX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5-inch Internal SSD for $60 (36 percent off): The BX500 is Crucial’s budget-conscious SSD option, but that doesn’t mean it disappoints. This internal solid state drive cuts down on battery consumption and improves processing with read speeds reaching 540MB/s. It comes with a three-year warranty, too.

Crucial P310 2TB for $149 (38 percent off): The 2TB level of the Crucial P310 is available at the lowest price we’ve seen all year. It’s a compact drive that works great in small laptops or Steam Decks — especially the latter, given Valve’s warning against cramming in large SSDs. For this small size and great price, you get read speeds of over 7,000MB/s.

Samsung 990 Evo Plus 1TB for $70 (33 percent off): This is an incredible deal on an internal SSD from a reliable brand. All capacities of the Samsung 990 Evo Plus are currently on sale, but even the 1TB option can visibly boost your performance with top read speeds of 7,250MB/s. There’s no heatsink, but nickel plating on the controller reduces both heat output and energy use.

Samsung 990 PRO 2 TB for $156 (26 percent off): Samsung’s 990 Pro series represents a massive leap forward for the brand, cutting energy costs by around half while boosting speeds up to at least 7,000MB/s write and 5,000MB/s read. This version comes with 2TB of storage and its own built-in heatsink.

Samsung Fit Plus 256GB for $23 (30 percent off): The Samsung Fit Plus isn’t just the best thumb drive on the market right now — it’s one of the best SSDs, period. This deal gets you 256GB of storage and read speeds of 400MB/s for almost unfathomably cheap. It’s also built to resist water, extreme temperatures, magnets and even radiation.

Kingston SX1000 1TB High Performance for $89 (23 percent off): If you can’t swing a Crucial X9 or X10 right now, Kingston offers a much more affordable alternative. The SX1000 can handle both PC backups and gaming storage with ease, nearly matching the X9 in our speed tests. It’s also easy to carry around, though keep a tight grip as it’s not officially rated for any drop height.

SanDisk 2TB Extreme Portable SSD for $148 (29 percent off): The SanDisk Extreme line of portable SSDs provides a great middle ground in both price and performance. Read speeds of 1,050MB/s are enough for transferring most files you’ll encounter day-to-day. Its external design holds up too, with a large carabiner loop, IP65 waterproofing and dustproofing and drop protection as high as three meters.

Seagate Storage Expansion Card 2TB for $220 (39 percent off): This SeaGate SSD is specifically for expanding storage on the Xbox Series X and S, and it’s designed to meet Xbox specs exactly. You’ll get exactly the same performance booting a game from this card as you would from internal Xbox storage, which makes data management infinitely easier.

Bitcoin Chases New All-time Highs, Altcoins Gear Up to Follow

by admin October 3, 2025

Key points:

  • Solid inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs show that bulls are back in the driver’s seat and a rally to a new all-time high is likely.

  • BNB is leading the altcoin recovery, with several altcoins poised to break above their overhead resistance levels.

Bitcoin (BTC) rose close to $123,900 on Friday, continuing its march toward the all-time high of $124,474. BTC’s recovery is backed by solid demand from the bulls, and the US spot BTC exchange-traded funds recorded $2.25 billion in inflows since Monday, according to Farside Investors data.

Analysts expect BTC to surge to a new all-time high. Capriole Investments founder Charles Edwards told Cointelegraph that BTC could skyrocket to $150,000 before the end of the year as investors seek safe-haven investments alongside gold.

While all signs point to a possible continuation of the uptrend, some analysts are cautious. Trader Roman said in a post on X that the relative strength index (RSI) indicator on BTC’s chart is exhibiting a bearish divergence on both the weekly and monthly time frames. Roman cautioned traders to be “careful holding here.”

Could BTC soar to a new all-time high, triggering a rally in altcoins? Let’s analyze the charts of the top 10 cryptocurrencies to find out.

Bitcoin price prediction

BTC surged above the $117,500 overhead resistance on Wednesday, indicating that the buyers are back in command.

BTC/USDT daily chart. Source: Cointelegraph/TradingView

The BTC/USDT pair has reached near the all-time high of $124,474, where the bears are expected to mount a strong defense. If the price turns down sharply from the current level of $124,474 and breaks below $117,500, it signals that the bears are active at higher levels. The Bitcoin price may then remain between $107,000 and $124,474 for a while longer.

Instead, if buyers drive the price above $124,474, it signals the resumption of the uptrend. The pair may then rally to $141,948.

Ether price prediction

Ether (ETH) closed above the 20-day exponential moving average ($4,309) on Wednesday and reached the resistance line on Friday.

ETH/USDT daily chart. Source: Cointelegraph/TradingView

The 20-day EMA has started to turn up gradually, and the RSI has risen into the positive territory, signaling a slight edge to the bulls. Sellers will attempt to halt the recovery at the resistance line, but if the buyers prevail, the ETH/USDT pair could retest the all-time high at $4,957.

The bears will have to pull the price below the 20-day EMA to weaken the bullish momentum. The Ether price could then drop to $4,060.

XRP price prediction

Buyers pushed XRP (XRP) above the downtrend line on Thursday but were unable to achieve a close above it.

XRP/USDT daily chart. Source: Cointelegraph/TradingView

Buyers are again attempting to maintain the XRP price above the downtrend line. If they succeed, the bearish descending triangle pattern will be invalidated. The XRP/USDT pair may then climb to $3.20 and later to $3.38.

This optimistic view will be negated in the near term if the price turns down and breaks below the moving averages. That suggests the breakout above the downtrend line may have been a bull trap.

BNB price prediction

BNB (BNB) skyrocketed to a new all-time high above $1,084 on Thursday and extended the up move on Friday.

BNB/USDT daily chart. Source: Cointelegraph/TradingView

The BNB/USDT pair has broken above the ascending channel pattern, signaling a pickup in bullish momentum. There is minor resistance at $1,173, but if this level is crossed, the rally could extend to $1,252.

The breakout level from the channel and the 20-day EMA ($1,004) are likely to act as strong supports on the downside. Sellers will have to drag the BNB price below $930 to suggest that the pair may have topped out in the short term.

Solana price prediction

Buyers pushed Solana (SOL) back above the uptrend line on Wednesday, suggesting that the corrective phase may be over.

SOL/USDT daily chart. Source: Cointelegraph/TradingView

Any pullback from the current level is likely to find support at the 20-day EMA ($220). If that happens, the SOL/USDT pair could rally to the overhead resistance of $260. Sellers are expected to defend the $260 level with all their might because a close above it could catapult the Solana price to $295.

Sellers will have to tug the price below the 50-day simple moving average ($212) to make a comeback.

Dogecoin price prediction

Dogecoin (DOGE) closed above the 20-day EMA ($0.24) on Wednesday, indicating a slight edge to the bulls.

DOGE/USDT daily chart. Source: Cointelegraph/TradingView

Although the DOGE/USDT pair remains stuck inside a large range between $0.14 and $0.29, the price action is forming an ascending triangle pattern. Buyers will have to achieve a close above $0.29 to complete the bullish setup. DOGE may then rally to the pattern target of $0.39.

The bullish pattern will be invalidated if the bears pull the price below the uptrend line. That suggests the pair may extend its consolidation for some more time.

Cardano price prediction

Cardano’s (ADA) recovery rose above the 50-day SMA ($0.86) on Thursday, indicating that the selling pressure is reducing.

ADA/USDT daily chart. Source: Cointelegraph/TradingView

Buyers will have to propel the Cardano price above the resistance line to suggest that the correction may be over. The ADA/USDT pair could then attempt a rally to $1.02, where the bears are expected to step in.

Contrarily, if the price turns down from the current level or the resistance line and breaks below the 20-day EMA ($0.84), it suggests that the bears are selling on rallies. The pair may then slump to the $0.75 support.

Hyperliquid price prediction

Hyperliquid (HYPE) surged above the moving averages on Thursday, indicating solid buying at lower levels.

HYPE/USDT daily chart. Source: Cointelegraph/TradingView

The relief rally is expected to face selling at the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level of $51.87. If the price turns down from $51.87 but bounces off the moving averages, it suggests that the sentiment has turned bullish. The HYPE/USDT pair could then ascend to $59.41.

On the contrary, if the price turns down and breaks below the moving averages, it signals that the bears are active at higher levels. The Hyperliquid price could then tumble to $43 and thereafter to $39.68.

Chainlink price prediction

Chainlink (LINK) rose above the 20-day EMA ($22.35) on Wednesday, but the bulls are facing resistance near the downtrend line.

LINK/USDT daily chart. Source: Cointelegraph/TradingView

If the price skids and remains below the 20-day EMA, it suggests that the LINK/USDT pair could stay inside the descending channel pattern for a few more days.

The first sign of strength will be a break and close above the downtrend line. If that happens, the Chainlink price could rally to $26 and, after that, to $27. Sellers will attempt to halt the up move at $27, but if the bulls prevail, the rally could reach $30.94.

Sui price prediction

Sui (SUI) climbed above the moving averages on Wednesday, indicating that the selling pressure is reducing.

SUI/USDT daily chart. Source: Cointelegraph/TradingView

If buyers maintain the price above the moving averages, the SUI/USDT pair could climb to the downtrend line. Sellers are expected to defend the downtrend line aggressively because a break above it could propel the Sui price to $4.20 and subsequently to $4.44.

On the contrary, if the price turns down and breaks below the moving averages, it suggests that the bears have not given up. The pair may then tumble to the $3.26 to $3.06 support zone.

  • Photograph: Brenda Stolyar

This deal comes within $20 of the lowest price we’ve tracked for the best iPad on the market. The 2025 Apple iPad (A16) is cute and comes in a few different colors in your choice of 128-, 256-, or 512-gigabyte storage. It has a modern design, USB-C charging, Touch ID, and two 12-MP cameras. It’s powerful enough for most people, and it doesn’t have support for Apple Intelligence (which may be a blessing or a curse). If you primarily use your tablet to watch videos, play mobile games, or do light work, it’ll be just fine (and you won’t overpay for features you aren’t using). One thing to note is that it only supports the first-generation or USB-C Apple Pencil. Check our guide to the Best iPad Accessories for additional picks.

This iPad is our upgrade pick, with an M3 chip that can handle more graphics-intensive tasks. Go for the 13-inch.

They pack excellent sound and good noise cancellation, and they’re downright easy to use. The battery lasts about five and a half hours if you’ve got active noise cancellation on. They also pair easily with both Android and iOS devices. This deal comes within $10 of the best discount we’ve tracked.

Every iteration is small and lightweight, with fast charging speeds (that vary from 15 watts to 65, depending on the size) and a durable finish. MagGo Power Bank (10K) (Qi2)

This is the best Qi2 power bank out of the many we’ve tried so far, and we’ve not yet seen it sell for less. It has a built-in kickstand, a two-way USB-C port, and a built-in LED display. You can attach MagSafe iPhones or Qi2 phones in landscape or portrait orientation. It’s not the beefiest power bank in the world, offering about one and a half charges for newer phones, but it’ll definitely come in handy if you just need a quick top-off while on the go—especially since you won’t need to bring your own cable.

Logitech

Combo Touch

This keyboard case with built-in trackpad is a great tool for working from your iPad.

Anker

MagGo Wireless Charger Pad (Qi2)

This Qi2 charger is one of our favorites, especially at this price.

The Arlo Pro 5 has clear footage, fast live-feed load times, and smart notifications. Recording at up to 2K resolution with HDR, it won’t struggle in low light thanks to night vision, and there’s also a color mode. Two-way audio is clear, and there’s a built-in siren too. You do need an Arlo Secure subscription to make the most of this camera, but the deal is solid. The multipacks are discounted, too.

Amazon

Kindle Scribe (2024)

Full disclosure: A new Kindle Scribe is coming, but we still think this is worth buying. The Kindle Scribe is our favorite e-reader for taking notes. It works well as a digital notebook and as a way to read your favorite books. With a generous 10-inch display and a Premium Pen (with a soft-tipped eraser on the end) included, you can use it to plan, journal, or annotate. There are some AI software features like note summarization, too. We do wish it was waterproof, or that it had some color features like the new model will, but if you’re in the market for something like it, it’s worth considering. There’s a chance it will get slightly cheaper when Prime Day actually arrives, but it likely won’t be by much—especially considering this is a match of the lowest price we’ve tracked.

Amazon

Echo Pop

This cute little smart speaker has personality, though its sound quality isn’t fantastic.

Amazon

Echo Dot (5th Gen)

This Amazon smart speaker has surprising sound quality, and may get cheaper when Prime Day arrives.

Amazon

Kindle Colorsoft Kids

This colorful Kindle is the same as the grown-up version, and you get a cover.

Netvue

Birdfy Plastic Smart Bird Feeder

Ultrahuman Ring Air for $300 ($50 off)

  • Photograph: Simon Hill

  • Photograph: Simon Hill

This smart ring is our favorite without a subscription. Importantly, due to a ruling by the FTC, these rings will no longer be available for purchase in the US after October 21 (though Ultrahuman says existing rings will still be supported). If you have been eyeing one, this deal is a match of the best we have tracked so far. The Ring Air can track your heart rate, blood oxygen, physical activity, and sleep, and it’ll offer insights about changes in your heart rate variability or skin temperature. There are some additional convenient features like a smart alarm that’ll wake you up during a lighter part of your sleep cycle, too.

JBL

Flip 7

Our favorite Bluetooth speaker sounds fantastic and comes in a wide array of different colors.

Asus

Vivobook 14 (X1407QA)

There’s no better cheap laptop on the market. This can handle most tasks for less money than usual.

Belkin

3-in-1 Qi2 Charging Stand

This 3-in-1 charger looks great on your nightstand, keeping things secure in portrait or landscape orientation.

How to get Tier 5 gear in Destiny 2

by admin September 30, 2025

One of the biggest changes made to Destiny 2 in The Edge of Fate expansion is the introduction of loot tiers. Weapons and armor come in five tiers, with higher tiers providing better stats, and Tier 5 even having unique cosmetic treatment.

Similar to Adept weapons and Artifice armor prior to the expansion, Tier 5 is the ultimate goal in this grind. However, while getting Adepts and Artifice gear was fairly straightforward, getting Tier 5 gear is an extremely long-term commitment.

Here’s everything you need to know about how to get higher-tier gear in Destiny 2.

How to get Tier 5 weapons and armor in Destiny 2

Getting higher-tier gear in Destiny 2 is tied directly to the Power grind, except for the Desert Perpetual raid. The higher your Power level, the better the loot. Tier 5 drops appear closer to 400 Power, which is a substantial grind you won’t be able to achieve overnight.

To get Tier 5 drops consistently, you need to be closer to 500 Power, but there are a few things you can do to get additional higher-tier drops throughout leveling.

Play activities in the Portal

Look out for Bonus Drops in the Portal. Screenshot by Dot Esports

As you increase your Power, the reward packages in the Portal will get better. Play activities with enough modifiers to get you to the A rank reward package, and eventually, you’ll start getting higher-tier gear. Some of the fastest activities to grind are Caldera and K1 Logistics Solo Ops, but you can also target activities with Bonus Drops.

You may also get occasional Prime drops as a completion reward. Those are rare drops of a higher tier and Power than your usual loot. Tier 5 gear will first appear in the Portal at 400+ Power as Prime drops. As you climb higher, you’ll be able to get Tier 5 drops from your main Reward Package.

Complete Conquests

There are eight total Tier 5 drops. Screenshot by Dot Esports

Conquests replaced Grandmaster Nightfalls in The Edge of Fate. You can still play on Grandmaster difficulty in the Portal, but the Conqueror title can now only be progressed via Conquests. There are 12 Conquests across three difficulties (Expert, Master, Grandmaster, and Ultimate), and you can find them in the Seasonal Hub.

Depending on the difficulty, you can get Tier 3, Tier 4, and Tier 5 rewards with a significant Power boost by completing the respective Conquest. The main downside is that Conquests are a one-time activity. Unlike Grandmaster Nightfalls, you can only complete each Conquest once per season.

avant-garde:

All Conquests have the Avant-Garde modifier, which means you must use new or featured gear (gear with a teal icon) in your loadout.

Complete weekly campaign missions

Two drops per week. Screenshot by Dot Esports

Every week, you can complete two The Edge of Fate campaign missions on either Fabled or Mythic difficulty for bonus loot. The first weekly completion of each mission awards a Tier 3 drop on Fabled difficulty and a Tier 4 drop on Mythic, which you can increase by purchasing upgrades.

To get Tier 5 drops from these missions, reach 350 Power and get the Kepler Tier Upgrade: +1 from Altar of Relativity. With the upgrade, completing a weekly mission for the first time each week on Mythic difficulty guarantees a Tier 5 drop.

Before heading into the weekly mission, attune to the gear piece you want at the Altar of Relativity on Kepler. The last thing you need is a machine gun when you’re missing a better pair of leg armor for your new build.

Purchase upgrades on Kepler

In case you want high-tier Kepler gear. Screenshot by Dot Esports

At the Altar of Relativity, you can purchase the aforementioned upgrades that improve destination loot. Reaching 350 Power unlocks the Kepler Tier Upgrade: +1, and then reaching 450 Power unlocks the Kepler Tier Upgrade: +2. These upgrades increase the Tier of all Kepler rewards, including world drops, weekly mission rewards, and The Sieve activity rewards.

Play Desert Perpetual raid with Feats

Either grind or be really good at the game. Screenshot by Dot Esports

The Desert Perpetual raid is the only exception when it comes to grinding Power for Tier 5 gear. There’s a chance to get a Tier 5 drop for completing a raid encounter, but to increase it, you need to add Feats (raid-specific modifiers) when starting your run, with five Feats guaranteeing Tier 5 loot. There are also two weekly challenges that guarantee a Tier 5 drop when completing them with three or more Feats.

Tier 5 gear benefits in Destiny 2

Tier 5 armor is more important than Tier 5 weapons. Screenshot by Dot Esports

Higher Tier gear comes with slightly improved stats and, in the case of Tier 5 weapons, also with a unique cosmetic treatment. While Tier 5 gear is better stat-wise, don’t be pressured into farming it, as the difference isn’t nearly as decisive as you might think.

Weapons

Here are the Tier benefits for weapons (higher Tiers include all the previous benefits):

  • Tier 1: Base weapon.
  • Tier 2: Enhanced perks in the third and fourth columns.
  • Tier 3: Two perks in the third and fourth columns.
  • Tier 4: Enhanced mods, magazine, and barrel.
  • Tier 5: Three perks in the third and fourth columns. A unique ornament and kill effect.

Regardless of the tier, the most important aspect of any weapon is its perks. A Tier 3 god roll is always better than a Tier 5 with mediocre perks, especially since you will be able to upgrade the weapon tiers in Renegades.

Armor

Here are the tier benefits for armor:

  • Tier 1: 52-57 stat points.
  • Tier 2: 58-63 stat points.
  • Tier 3: 64-69 stat points.
  • Tier 4: 70-75 stat points, 11 Energy.
  • Tier 5: 75 stat points, stat tuning.

On the other hand, having Tier 5 armor allows you to maximize stats on any given build. Apart from guaranteeing maximum stat points, a Tier 5 armor piece also comes with a tuning socket. Tuning allows you to increase a pre-determined stat by five points at the cost of another stat of your choice.

Generally, aim to get high stat Tier 4 pieces (73+), as those come with 11 Energy rather than 10, allowing you to squeeze more mods. The stats for tuning sockets on Tier 5 pieces are random, and while you can farm for them to maximize loadouts, it’s a whole new time commitment that’s not really worth it.

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 Is Still Coming, But What’s In It?

by admin September 28, 2025

In late 2023, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 brought most of the early games in the franchise to modern consoles. Since then, fans have clamored for Konami to complete the collection of games with Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2. Now, the producer behind Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has confirmed that Vol. 2 is still in the works, but declined to confirm any titles included in it.

During a presentation at the Tokyo Game Show, Metal Gear Solid producer Noriaki Okamura fielded a question about the next installment of the MGS Master Collection. X user Kuwabara357 shared a fan translation (via Video Games Chronicle), which essentially said that Vol. 2 is moving forward, but the team isn’t ready to share any information about it yet.

SCOOP MGSVOL.2❗️ : On the METAL GEAR PRODUCTION HOTLINE, Noriaki Okamura briefly mentioned MGS Master Collection Vol.2. and according to him, it will take a little more time.
Here is a translation of his statement: “It has certainly taken quite a while now. Since we called the… pic.twitter.com/JUccwXkJJ2

— Outsider Snake (@Kuwabara357) September 25, 2025

The most-anticipated possibility for the collection is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which has never been released outside of the PS3. The first Master Collection excluded Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, a 2010 PlayStation Portable game that had previously been remastered in 2011 for the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. One of the series’ other portable games, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, was also excluded from the Master Collection Vol. 1.

It’s possible that the Master Collection Vol. 2 could include those games and both parts of Metal Gear Solid 5, Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain. But without confirmation from Konami, we can only speculate.

In the meantime, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater’s Fox Hunt multiplayer mode will launch on October 30. MGS Delta producer Yuji Korekado has previously hinted that there may be more remakes in the franchise’s future. But if there are new MGS games being made, Okamura and Korekado expressed a desire to step aside and let a new generation of developers make the title.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will finally be getting its online Fox Hunt mode next month

by admin September 27, 2025

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will finally be getting Fox Hunt – it’s online PvP mode – on the 30th October.

This mode, absent from the launch version of the game, will be available to owners of the game across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This online mode is a competitive “hide-and-seek” style PvP mode where players have to find and take each other out using any tools they can find.

Up to 12-players can take part in a match at any one time, though according to the official Konami press release crossplay is still not supported.

Here’s the launch trailer for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake EaterWatch on YouTube

There are two available game modes: Survival Capture and Survival Intrude. The first is a capture the flag style mode where players must secure a dwindling number of cute green Kerotan, and the latter a battle royale style mode where players must battle over a shrinking play area.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has proven popular, selling over a million copies on its launch day earlier this month. Since its launch the game has received a variety of patches to improve stability and performance, some good news for those who were waiting to give it a try.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is itself a fantastic recreation of the original game. In Eurogamer’s review it’s described as “an achievement for the development team behind Delta too, some of whom were original staff from the Metal Gear Solid 3 team. The legend of Metal Gear Solid 3 has been brought back to life thanks to their efforts, and the experience of playing it has put me in a position I could not have foreseen just a few years ago.”

Early sales on gear from Apple, Anker, JBL, Shark and more

by admin September 27, 2025

October Prime Day will be here soon on October 7 and 8, but as to be expected, you can already find some decent sales available now. Amazon always has lead-up sales in the days and weeks before Prime Day, and it’s wise to shop early if you’re on the hunt for something specific and you see that item at a good discount.

Prime Day deals are typically reserved for subscribers, but there are always a few that anyone can shop. We expect this year to be no exception, and we’re already starting to see that trend in these early Prime Day deals. These are the best Prime Day deals you can get right now ahead of the event, and we’ll update this post with the latest offers as we get closer to October Prime Day proper.

October Prime Day deals: Engadget’s top picks

Anker Nano 5K ultra-slim power bank (Qi2, 15W) for $46 (16 percent off): A top pick in our guide to the best MagSafe power banks, this super-slim battery is great for anyone who wants the convenient of extra power without the bulk. We found its proportions work very well with iPhones, and its smooth, matte texture and solid build quality make it feel premium.

Leebein 2025 electric spin scrubber for $40 (43 percent off, Prime exclusive): This is an updated version of my beloved Leebein electric scrubber, which has made cleaning my shower easier than ever before. It comes with seven brush heads so you can use it to clean all kinds of surfaces, and its adjustable arm length makes it easier to clean hard-to-reach spots. It’s IPX7 waterproof and recharges via USB-C.

Apple Mac mini (M4) for $499 $100 off): If you prefer desktops over laptops, the upgraded M4 Mac mini is one that won’t take up too much space, but will provide a ton of power at the same time. Not only does it come with an M4 chipset, but it also includes 16GB of RAM in the base model, plus front-facing USB-C and headphone ports for easier access.

Jisulife Life7 handheld fan for $25 (14 percent off, Prime exclusive): This handy little fan is a must-have if you life in a warm climate or have a tropical vacation planned anytime soon. It can be used as a table or handheld fan and even be worn around the neck so you don’t have to hold it at all. Its 5,000 mAh battery allows it to last hours on a single charge, and the small display in the middle of the fan’s blades show its remaining battery level.

Blink Mini 2 security cameras (two-pack) for $35 (50 percent off): Blink makes some of our favorite security cameras, and the Mini 2 is a great option for indoor monitoring. It can be placed outside with the right weatherproof adapter, but since it needs to be plugged in, we like it for keeping an eye on your pets while you’re away and watching over entry ways from the inside.

October Prime Day deals on tech

Apple

Apple MagSafe charger (25W, 2m) for $35 (30 percent off): The latest version of Apple’s MagSafe puck is Qi2.2-certified and supports up to 25W of wireless power when paired with a 30W adapter. The two-meter cable length on this particular model gives you more flexibility on where you can use it: in bed, on the couch, at your desk and elsewhere.

$35 at Amazon

Apple Watch Series 11 for $389 ($10 off): The latest flagship Apple Watch is our new pick for the best smartwatch you can get, and it’s the best all-around Apple Watch, period. It’s not too different from the previous model, but Apple promises noticeable gains in battery life, which will be handy for anyone who wants to wear their watch all day and all night to track sleep.

Apple MacBook Air (13-inch, M4) for $799 (20 percent off): Our top pick for the best laptop for most people, the latest MacBook Air is impressively thin and light without skimping on performance. The M4 chipset is powerful enough to handle everyday tasks without breaking a sweat, plus some gaming and labor-intensive work. It has a comfortable keyboard, luxe-feeling trackpad and an excellent battery life.

Apple iPad (A16) for $299 ($50 off): The new base-model iPad now comes with twice the storage of the previous model and the A16 chip. That makes the most affordable iPad faster and more capable, but still isn’t enough to support Apple Intelligence.

Apple iPad Air (11-inch, M3) for $449 ($150 off): The only major difference between the latest iPad Air and the previous generation is the addition of the faster M3 chip. We awarded the new slab an 89 in our review, appreciating the fact that the M3 chip was about 16 percent faster in benchmark tests than the M2. This is the iPad to get if you want a reasonable amount of productivity out of an iPad that’s more affordable than the Pro models.

Samsung EVO Select microSD card (256GB) for $23 (15 percent off): This Samsung card has been one of our recommended models for a long time. It’s a no-frills microSD card that, while not the fastest, will be perfectly capable in most devices where you’re just looking for simple, expanded storage.

Anker Soundcore Select 4 Go speaker for $26 (26 percent off): This small Bluetooth speaker gets pretty loud for its size and has decent sound quality. You can pair two together for stereo sound as well, and its IP67-rated design will keep it protected against water and dust.

Roku Streaming Stick Plus 2025 for $29 (27 percent off): Roku makes some of the best streaming devices available, and this small dongle gives you access to a ton of free content plus all the other streaming services you could ask for: Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max and many more.

Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max for $40 (33 percent off): Amazon’s most powerful streaming dongle supports 4K HDR content, Dolby Vision and Atmos and Wi-Fi 6E. It also has double the storage of cheaper Fire TV sticks.

JBL Go 4 portable speaker for $40 (20 percent off): The Go 4 is a handy little Bluetooth speaker that you can take anywhere you go thanks to its small, IP67-rated design and built-in carrying loop. It’ll get seven hours of playtime on a single charge, and you can pair two together for stereo sound.

Anker Soundcore Space A40 for $45 (44 percent off): Our top pick for the best budget wireless earbuds, the Space A40 have surprisingly good ANC, good sound quality, a comfortable fit and multi-device connectivity.

Anker MagGo 10K power bank (Qi2, 15W) for $63 (22 percent off, Prime exclusive): A 10K power bank like this is ideal if you want to be able to recharge your phone at least once fully and have extra power to spare. This one is also Qi2 compatible, providing up to 15W of power to supported phones.

Anker

Amazon Fire TV Cube for $100 (29 percent off): Amazon’s most powerful streaming device, the Fire TV Cube supports 4K, HDR and Dolby Vision content, Dolby Atmos sound, Wi-Fi 6E and it has a built-in Ethernet port. It has the most internal storage of any Fire TV streaming device, plus it comes with an enhanced Alexa Voice Remote.

Rode Wireless Go III for $199 (30 percent off): A top pick in our guide to the best wireless microphones, the Wireless Go III records pro-grade sound and has handy extras like onboard storage, 32-bit float and universal compatibility with iPhones, Android, cameras and PCs.

Shark AI robot vacuum with self-empty base for $230 (58 percent off, Prime exclusive): A version of one of our favorite robot vacuums, this Shark machine has strong suction power and supports home mapping. The Shark mobile app lets you set cleaning schedules, and the self-empty base that it comes with will hold 30 days worth of dust and debris.

Levoit LVAC-300 cordless vacuum for $250 ($100 off, Prime exclusive): One of our favorite cordless vacuums, this Levoit machine has great handling, strong suction power for its price and a premium-feeling design. Its bin isn’t too small, it has HEPA filtration and its battery life should be more than enough for you to clean your whole home many times over before it needs a recharge.

Shark Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo for $300 (57 percent off, Prime exclusive): If you’re looking for an autonomous dirt-sucker that can also mop, this is a good option. It has a mopping pad and water reservoir built in, and it supports home mapping as well. Its self-emptying base can hold up to 60 days worth of debris, too.

Nintendo Switch 2 for $449: While not technically a discount, it’s worth mentioning that the Switch 2 and the Mario Kart Switch 2 bundle are both available at Amazon now, no invitation required. Amazon only listed the new console for the first time in July after being left out of the initial pre-order/availability window in April. Once it became available, Amazon customers looking to buy the Switch 2 had to sign up to receive an invitation to do so. Now, that extra step has been removed and anyone can purchase the Switch 2 on Amazon.

Metal Gear Solid Delta’s Fox Hunt Mode Launching In October, No Microtransactions Or Cross-Play

by admin September 25, 2025

As part of Konami’s Tokyo Game Show briefing today, the company announced that Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater’s Fox Hunt multiplayer mode will launch on October 30.

Fox Hunt, which was previously announced, is an evolution of Metal Gear Online. The mode puts players into “cat-and-mouse encounters” as players must sneak around and survive.

Fox Hunt supports online matches with up to 12 players, and there will be two modes. The first of these is called Survival Capture, and it’s described as a “tense, multi-phase mission” where players must capture Kerotan frogs. The number of frogs decreases as the match continues.

The second mode is called Survival Intrude and it has players attempting to capture and hold zones, with the number of zones decreasing as the match plays out.

Players deploy with an AT-CAMO suit that allows them to camouflage themselves in different environments to blend in. Players also get an ability called Naked Sense, which detects nearby enemies and items.

Fox Hunt does not support cross-platform multiplayer, but players can creative private matches with friends on the same platform. Fox Hunt does not include any microtransactions.

GameSpot’s Metal Gear Solid: Delta Snake Eater review scored the game a 9/10. “It successfully modernizes visuals, tweaks game design, and updates controls so that the game sits comfortably alongside its action game contemporaries,” reviewer Tamoor Hussain said.

Metal Gear Solid: Delta Snake Eater is currently on sale at GameSpot sister site Fanatical.

Metal Gear Solid 5’s Official Strategy Guide Is Still Available 10 Years Later

by admin September 25, 2025

Metal Gear fans are likely busy working their way through the recent Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remake, but those looking to add a unique piece to their Metal Gear merch collection back at Mother Base should take a quick detour to procure the official Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain strategy guide. Not only is it–surprisingly–still available at Amazon nearly a decade after it first launched, it’s also discounted to $19.70 (was $25).

This a cool piece of official merch for the final game in the Metal Gear series–though if you haven’t played the game it’s based on yet, you can also grab The Phantom Pain and its standalone prequel chapter, Ground Zeroes, for just $23 on PlayStation or PC with the Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience.

$19.70 (was $25)

This paperback guide sits at 368 pages, offering an in-depth look at everything you’d ever need to know about The Phantom Pain. From detailed mission walkthroughs to diagrams and analysis of the game’s many systems, the guide leaves no stone unturned. It also comes with a story recap–so even if you’ve lost track of what’s happening in the convoluted MGS universe, you should be able to dive into MGS V without any trouble.

As an added bonus, it comes with a poster that offers a detailed look at the world map.

The guide was published by Piggback, a company that’s published guides for Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Cyberpunk 2077, and other high-profile games. It’s also from the same team that previously worked on guides for other Metal Gear Solid titles–so it’s all but guaranteed to offer an accurate, in-depth look at MGS V.

A Collector’s Edition of the guide was also released, but is out of print. This version includes a few exclusive goodies like a lithograph by Yoji Shinkawa and an art gallery. It’s hard to come by, but new and used copies occasionally surface from third-party resellers on Amazon.

Of course, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is the title stealing the spotlight right now. Our review gave it a superb 9/10, as it does a wonderful job of remastering one of the best PS2 games for modern audiences. If you’re interested in picking it up, the Tactical Edition is available for $68 at multiple online retailers (was $70). This is essentially the standard physical edition of the game, but it includes some extra DLC. PC players can also purchase the Steam version for just $52.38 (was $70) at Fanatical. Die-hard fans can also grab the $200 physical Collector’s Edition, which is still in stock at Amazon. It includes the base game, bonus DLC content, and a selection of collectibles like a diorama display of Snake sneaking through the forest, embroidered patches, and an exclusive metal case for the game.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Deals

If you started with The Phantom Pain or Delta and want to work through the earlier entries in the series, you’ll want to check out the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1.

This collection includes Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty HD, and the original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD, plus the original MSX versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, and animated Metal Gear Solid graphic novels. The physical edition is available for $30 (was $60) on Switch, Xbox, and PS5, or you can grab it digitally on consoles and PC. The Steam version is available at Fanatical for $45 (was $60).

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1

It’s worth noting that while the Master Collection will get you most of the games in the series in a single package, it’s missing the rest of the mainline series–including Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain plus standalone prequel chapter Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes–not to mention the many Metal Gear spinoffs like Metal Gear: Survive and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Those entries will show up in an ostensible future Master Collection Volume–or even as additional remakes similar to Delta–but Konami has not announced any plans for those just yet.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience

Unfortunately, as it stands, it’s hard to play several of those entries; the PS3-exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4 and PSP-exclusive Peace Walker are not currently available on modern consoles or PC. But as mentioned above, you can at least grab the latest game in the mainline series, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, plus Ground Zeroes and a bunch of DLC content through the Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience. You can grab it for $23 on PS4, or on PC via Fanatical. Note that if you’re jumping into MGSV without playing the others, you’ll be missing out on the rest of the story–but it is widely considered to have the best gameplay of the series, so it’s still worth grabbing if you’re looking for more tactical espionage action after wrapping up Delta or the Master Collection.

While the mainline series tells the winding–and sometimes incomprehensible–story of the legendary soldier Big Boss, his cloned son Solid Snake, and the shadowy organization known as the La Li Lu Le Lo The Patriots, the series has also seen several spinoffs over the years. Most of these are non-canon like Metal Gear: Survive–or semi-canon, as in the case of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops–others are considered part of the official Metal Gear timeline, such as 2013’s Metal Gear Rising Revengeance developed by Platinum Games. Rising set at the end of the series timeline, and players once again control Metal Gear Solid 2’s protagonist, Raiden, who has returned to his cyborg ninja form from Metal Gear Solid 4. Unlike the rest of the series, Rising is a character action game, rather than a stealth game, but it’s well-regarded by fans and easily available on PC. You can get the Steam version for just $23 (was $30) at Fanatical.

Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2 official novelizations

For a different take on the Metal Gear Solid saga, you can check out the official novelizations for Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. The books retell the events of the first two Metal Gear Solid games and were written by Raymond Benson, who has also authored several official James Bond novels.

It’s worth noting that Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima’s latest project, Death Stranding, also received an official, two-part novelization. While there are similarities in visual design language, detailed world-building techniques, and even gameplay elements between Death Stranding and Metal Gear, Death Stranding leans more heavily into overt sci-fi elements. Nevertheless, it’s worth checking out if you’re looking for more reading material based on Kojima’s works. Both volumes are available in paperback and Kindle editions at Amazon.

Speaking of which, Kojima also wrote a nonfiction book in 2021, titled The Creative Gene, which compiles his memoirs and essays on creativity, game design, art, and more. While it won’t answer lingering questions about Metal Gear lore, it offers insight into his creative process and details important events from his life. The paperback edition is available for $17.87 (was $23) at Amazon.
