There’s A Free Game On Steam For A Limited Time That Lets You Lick Your Friends

by admin June 10, 2025

You can grab What The Pak on Steam right now for free. The game, which sees people playing as little cyclops creatures, is all about multiplayer minigame mayhem. That includes using your avatar’s extremely long tongue to lick your friends and competitors.

What The Pak supports up to eight people and online multiplayer. It’s a Steam Early Access game, usually costing $6. However, from now until June 24, the title is free to pick up. It originally launched on December 6, so has been available for just over half of a year. What The Pak was also part of Steam Next Fest for October 2024.

This is the first game for co-developer Wendigo Games, which is based in Istanbul. The other studio working on What The Pak is Broken Lyre Entertainment, which is known for Wrap House Simulator.

Earlier this month, Borderlands 2 was free on Steam for a small window of time, which is unfortunately over at the time of publishing. However, there is still a franchise sale happening for the looter-shooter series that runs until June 18.

There is also another game on Steam that’s free currently called Hellslave. The dungeon-crawling RPG is available to pick up for a $0 price tag until June 16. For more, check out GameSpot’s 28 best free Steam games to play right now.

Dune: Awakening Multiplayer Guide: How To Party Up With Friends

by admin June 6, 2025

Dune: Awakening is a new MMORPG that can be played completely solo or in a party with your friends. If you’re looking to take on the planet of Arrakis with a party, then you’ll need to follow a few steps to get multiplayer working.

In the guide below, we’ll show you everything you need to know about multiplayer in Dune: Awakening, how to add friends, and how to join up with friends to make a party that can play together.

How to add friends in Dune: Awakening

As of right now, Dune: Awakening is only available on PC via Steam. While the game is planned to eventually arrive on console, you’re limited to playing with PC friends on Steam.

Of course, this does make the friend invite process a little easier, as all you need to do is add a friend via Steam to be able to invite them to your party in Dune: Awakening. If you already have a friend added on Steam, they will appear on your friends list in the Social Hub of the game. You can access the Social hub from the “Skills” page and then click the Social menu icon from there.

The Social menu in Dune: Awakening

If you already have friends added on Steam, hover over their name in the friends list and then click on the “invite” icon next to their name. You can also choose to join their party by clicking the other icon.

However, if you need to add a friend through Dune: Awakening itself, you can go around adding them through Steam. To do that, go to the Social menu and press the “Search Players” button. Here, you can add a player through their character name or Funcom ID. Every player is assigned a Funcom ID after making their character in Dune: Awakening, but if you know your friend’s in-game name, just type that in.

Once you send out a friend invite, you’ll receive a notification when your friend accepts the invite, and they’ll be added to your friends list. From here, invite them or join their party.

Dune: Awakening allows for parties of five, so if you try and join a friend but can’t, it’s likely because they already have a full party.

How to play multiplayer in Dune: Awakening

Now that you’ve added your friends, how do you go about playing with them? Well, the first step is to ensure you and any potential party members are all playing on the same server. You can choose your dedicated server from the main menu in Dune: Awakening, and it’s highly recommended that you and your friends all choose the same one. This way, you can play on the same map, see each other in-game, build a base together, etc.

The server list in Dune: Awakening

You can still play in a party with friends on a different server, but it’s simply a better experience when everyone in the party is on the same server. If you do try and play with a player on a different server, you’ll still join their server, but be considered a guest instead of a full member. The major restriction with this is that party members on different servers can’t build in their friend’s building space, so if that matters to you, then simply play together on the same server.

Playing on the same server allows you to pool resources, such as Salvaged Metal and Fuel Cells, together in one base. You can also coordinate skills between all party members so you have access to different skill trees between the party.

All party members can choose when they log in and out of a server, so one party leader doesn’t control when everyone joins the game. If you’re playing on different servers, though, you might have to join a queue to be admitted onto the server where your friend is located.

Want to explore Mexico in cool cars with your friends? Here’s how to play Forza Horizon 5 with friends.

Forza Horizon 5 is among the most expansive racing titles, boasting a vast open world and a multitude of cars to enjoy. Like its predecessors, the game is even more enjoyable when played with friends, allowing you to race around Mexico in a convoy of hypercars.

With the game now out on PlayStation 5 as well, it’s getting a huge influx of new players. If you’re wondering how to play Forza Horizon 5 with other players, we’ve got you covered.

Is Forza Horizon 5 crossplay and cross-platform?

Get ready for Mexico. Image via Playground Games

Yes, Forza Horizon 5 features crossplay and cross-platform support, allowing players on PC (via Steam and Microsoft Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox to play together without restrictions.

PlayStation 5 players must be connected to the internet and have an active PlayStation Plus subscription. For PC and Xbox players, the game is available on Xbox Game Pass and the Microsoft and Steam stores.

If you’re wondering about cross-progression, we’ve got bad news: Forza Horizon 5 does not offer the feature. This means you cannot transfer your PC saves to PS5 or Xbox, and vice versa, so you will have to start over when playing the game on a new platform.

How to add other players in Forza Horizon 5

Forza Horizon 5 requires a Microsoft account, regardless of the platform you’re playing on. You need to link your Steam or PSN accounts to that Microsoft account. While some may find this cumbersome, adding other people across different platforms is simple.

You’ll need to make sure that anyone wanting to join you in a Convoy has completed the intro, the first batch of showcase races revolving around the Horizon Festival, the initial Horizon Story missions, and has purchased their first house. They’ll also need to gain a number of “Accolade points” and complete the first Expedition mission.

To add other players in Forza Horizon 5, you’ll need to become friends with them on the Xbox network. Here’s how to do this:

  • Open the Xbox App or website and enter your login details.
  • If you’re using the Xbox App on PC, open the “Friends” tab on the bottom right. On the Xbox website, click on the Xbox icon on the top left of the screen after logging in, then click on the “People” tab.
  • Search for your friend’s gamertag and add them to your Xbox social network.

How to invite your friends in Forza Horizon 5

To invite your friends in Forza Horizon 5, you’ll need to use the “Convoy” function. Here’s how the process works:

  • Load into Forza Horizon 5.
  • Make sure you’re in the “Horizon Life” game mode. Once you’ve loaded into the open world, you need to pause the game.
  • Navigate to the “Online” tab.
  • Choose the “Convoy” option within this tab.
  • When you receive the prompt for it, choose “Create a Convoy.” If you want to join a random online Convoy, you can choose “Find a Convoy.”
  • Choose an option under “Choose Convoy Type.” “Friends Only,” “Invite Only,” or “Anything Goes” are good choices when starting off with the game.
  • A list of your friends will be provided to you. Friends on PlayStation can be seen with a PlayStation logo beside their names. Invite your friend, and they’ll get an invite through the PlayStation Network or the Xbox Community via their chat. Accepting it will let them join you.

Elden Ring Nightreign crossplay: Bad news if your friends are on console

by admin May 28, 2025

It’s Elden Ring Nightreign week, and there are countless punishment-hungry Soulslike devotees around the world readying themselves to prove just how good they’ve gotten through a gauntlet of randomized FromSoft boss encounters. As those nightfarers prep for the Elden Ring roguelike, however, you might be wondering:

Can I play Nightreign with my console friends?

Unfortunately, even as crossplay becomes a standard elsewhere, Nightreign’s missing out. Its heroes might be battling a malevolent force that threatens to unmake all of creation, but even they can’t cross the boundaries separating multiplayer platforms. If you’re playing on PC, your Xbox and PlayStation comrades will have to fight alone.

You may like

There’s no crossplay in Elden Ring Nightreign

Sure seems like a multiplayer-focused game should have crossplay in 2025, huh? But no, Elden Ring Nightreign doesn’t have crossplay, FromSoftware has confirmed.

When matchmaking for an expedition in Nightreign, you’ll only get partied up with other PC players. There’s no in-game friends list for adding console players, and you won’t be able to join password-locked parties hosted by Xbox or PlayStation users.

Nightreign does have cross-region matchmaking, meaning you can freely party up with players on other continents. Personally speaking, it’s been years since I’d wondered whether I’d be able to play with people in other regions, but I’d certainly rather have it than not.

You can also disable cross-region matchmaking if you’re particularly concerned about ping and connection stability, but this will likely only be an issue if you or a friend on the other side of the globe have dicey internet connections.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

FromSoftware hasn’t said anything about adding crossplay post-launch, but the game’s deluxe edition on Steam does promise “additional playable characters and bosses” and “additional DLC” by the end of 2025, so obviously there are updates still in the works.

But don’t get your hopes up: Elden Ring never got PC and console crossplay, either.

Embracer Group says it’ll put out 76 different games in the coming year, as it ditches friends for a fellowship and spins off Goat Sim publisher Coffee Stain

by admin May 24, 2025

Damn, the nice little friendship thing Embracer Group had decided to morph into after earning the ire of lots of folks by going hard on the layoffs, closures and sales is no more.

The company’s decided to ditch the “and friends” tag it had given to different bits of its business, and form a fellowship, as it does yet more corporate shuffling around. It does also plan to actually release some more games.

As announced by Embracer, the bit of previously dubbed Middle-Earth and Friends will now be known as Fellowship Entertainment. As you might have guessed, that’s the part that looks after The Lord of the Rings, as well as housing the studios behind likes of Kingdom Come Deliverance, Tomb Raider, the Metro series, and Dead Island.

With Asmodee, the second of the three bits Embracer divided itself into last year, having spun off from the company as of February this year, it’s the turn of the third bit formerly known as Coffee Stain & Friends to do the same. Now named Coffee Stain Group, the subsidiary that includes the dev teams behind the likes of Deep Rock Galactic, Valheim and Goat Simulator is being released into the economic wild as a separately stock market-listed company.

“The games industry is more competitive than ever, but also more rewarding if you do things right, and we believe this move gives us the clarity and control to navigate the landscape better on our own terms,” Coffee Stain Group CEO Anton Westbergh said, “We can now focus even more on what we do best—supporting our developers, staying close to our communities, and building an even brighter future for Coffee Stain.”

Right, that’s enough on the corporate shuffling of people’s livelihoods. In the financial results it’s published alongside this spin-off announcement, Embracer says that it’s got “76 different games” it plans to release in the coming financial year. There’ll be “a mix of new IPs, sequels, and remasters”, including Killing Floor 3 and the recently delayed Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, with Embracer expecting the latter to “drive notable revenues but to have lower margins due to shared economics with several other partners”.

Another as of yet unannounced AAA game that Embracer things will have “financial dynamics more similar to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2” is also in the works, but the company reckons it’ll have to be pushed back to the 2026/27 financial year to allow for more “polish”

The rest of the lineup for the upcoming is being filled by the likes of Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, Metal Eden, and “the next SpongeBob SquarePants game”. Spongebob Squarepants tries to get to the Bikini Bottom of where Embracer’s friends have gone, maybe?
