Goodbye Jason Voorhees, hello Michael Myers: Friday the 13th developer and publisher return with a new multiplayer survival horror game based on Halloween

Halloween: The Game Reveal Trailer – Future Games Show gamescom 2025 – YouTube

Watch On

Seven years after IllFonic and Gun Media had to say farewell to their hit multiplayer survival horror game Friday the 13th, they’re back—except this time, it’s Halloween. Announced at today’s Future Game Show, Halloween is a “one-versus-many stealth horror experience” in which players don the creepy mask of Michael Myers to hunt down the citizens of Haddonfield, or work together as his potential victims in a desperate effort to stop him.

“Stick to the shadows as Civilians, seeking out Haddonfield residents to warn them and searching for a way to contact the authorities,” the press blast says. “As Michael Myers, give them a reason to fear the dark and cut the phone lines to prevent the police from ruining his favorite holiday. Whether playing solo in story mode, against bots offline, or facing others in online multiplayer, each mode rewards stealth, strategy, and skillful play.

“Staying true to the original film, IllFonic masterfully recreates the eerie atmosphere of Haddonfield across multiple maps and authentic locations. With a haunting ambience and score inspired by the legendary movie, Halloween brings the terror home in a new experience that will keep both old and new generations looking over their shoulders.”

I’m not much of a horror fan so I’m really in no position to speak to the distinctions between the Friday the 13th and Halloween franchises—it’s all just freaky masks, huge knives, and screaming teenyboppers to me. But I do find it very interesting, and amusing, that IllFonic and Gun Media are coming back with a game that, superficially at least, looks so much like Friday the 13th. There will definitely be differences in gameplay: Players will alert NPC townsfolk and police to the looming threat, for instance, leading to “increasingly powerful and thorough neighborhood patrols” that will help even the odds against the killer.

But the bottom line is that a small group of soft, squishy locals are going to have to work together to survive an unkillable maniac who exists only to hack those locals into little bloody bits, and, well… that sure sounds like tomayto, tomahto to me.

I might be reading too much into it, but IllFonic co-founder and CEO Charles Brungardt also seemed to throw a little shade at his former partners while praising his new ones.

“Working with Compass International Pictures and Further Front has been a dream,” Brungardt said. “As rights holders of the film and producers on the game, they’ve shared incredible insights to help us stay true to the soul of the 1978 film. Their tremendous passion for Michael Myers has pushed us to craft something that fans of the franchise will truly appreciate.”

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

Friday the 13th: The Game, you’ll recall, was brought low by a dispute over the ownership of the franchise between Victor Miller, the writer of the original film, and Sean Cunningham, the producer and director of the film.

Halloween is set to launch sometime in 2026 and will be available for PC on Steam and the Epic Games Store. For now, you can take a closer look at what’s coming at halloweengame.com.

Arc System Works Showcase Announced For This Friday

by admin June 24, 2025

Arc System Works, the developer behind Guilty Gear, BlazBlue, and the recently announced Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, is revealing its next projects via its own showcase.

Airing on Friday, June 27 at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET, the Arc System Works Showcase will feature new updates on what’s coming from the popular studio. In addition to providing what the publisher states as the “latest information on various game titles, including completely new titles,” the event will feature the reveal of a new project by Guilty Gear creator Daisuke Ishiwatari. You can check out the showcase once it goes live here.

Though not confirmed, there’s a good chance we’ll see more of  Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, Arc’s superhero 4v4 tag fighter revealed during the PlayStation State of Play earlier this month.  The promising title is slated to launch next year, so here’s hoping it makes an appearance during the Showcase.  Other announced upcoming games that could appear include Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact, launching on July 16, and Double Dragon Revive, launching on October 25.

What do you hope to see at the Arc System Works Showcase? Let us know in the comments!

Diablo 4 Season 9 will be detailed this Friday – and you even get an in-game skin for watching the reveal live

by admin June 23, 2025

After a bit of a wait, Blizzard has officially set a date for the next Diablo 4 livestream. The focus of the show will, unsurprisingly, be on Season 9: Sins of the Horadrim. Season 9 kicks off in about a week, so it’s almost time for one last look at what’s coming.

Of course, this won’t technically be our first-ever look at the new content, as much of it was in the Season 9 PTR (Public Test Realm) held towards the end of May. That said, there are definitely a couple of reasons to tune in.

The Diablo 4 Season 9: Sins of the Horadrim livestream is scheduled for this Friday, June 27. Blizzard has hosted these sort of livestreams on Fridays before, but the developer typically goes for a Thursday – or even earlier in the week – spot.

Regardless, the show will kick off at the usual times: 11am PT, 2pm ET, 7pm BST. You’ll be able to watch it on all the official Diablo channels – YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, and TikTok. The livestream will offer one final look at Sins of the Horadrim, which is set to arrive on June 30.

More specifically, we’ll get an updated look at the new seasonal questline, new battle pass, the Horadric Spellcraft mechanic, Escalating Nightmares endgame activity, and more. This will also be a great opportunity to see what’s actually changed based on PTR feedback.

Worth tuning in for? | Image credit: Blizzard Entertainment.

As usual, we’re also also getting a preview of the higher-level balance changes coming with Season 9, both for characters as well as general gameplay. Several members of the Diablo 4 development team will be guiding us through the showcase, and there’s going to be a Q&A segment to close it off.

Blizzard is also bringing back the post-show Sanctuary Sitdown chat, which will see community host Nacho join Aislyn Hall to talk more about the new season, and answer questions from Discord members.

There’s something new this time, too. Blizzard is offering anyone who watches Diablo 4 on Twitch while the Developer Update is live a free skin. It does not need to be the main Diablo 4 livestream itself, and you only need to watch for 30 minutes to earn the Lacuni’s Pupil two-handed Sorcerer Staff.

Red Dead Redemption star teases he “cannot wait” for us to know about a big announcement that’s coming “before Friday”

by admin June 15, 2025

Another day, another Red Dead rumour, but this one comes from John Marston himself – or, at least, the actor who brings him to life, Rob Wiethoff.

In his latest Red Dead Redemption livestream, as spotted by F4D3broboi on Reddit, Wiethoff was very excited indeed about an upcoming announcement. And while he was coy about the details, he did stress that he was particularly excited playing “this game” – the original Red Dead Redemption – and even suggested we’ll know by this time next week.

Here’s a blast from the past with one of our Red Dead Redemption 2 videos!Watch on YouTube

“I’ve got such exciting news,” he teased. “I can’t share it with you right now, and it’s absolutely killing me. By the end of this week, hopefully sooner, you’re going to – not this week, I guess; probably not as soon as tomorrow, but definitely before Friday… Oh my goodness, the news that I have to share, and I won’t be the only one sharing it.

“I cannot wait for you to know what’s going on,” he added. “And that’s all I can say. And I’m not trying to be… I’m just telling, that’s the only thing I can think about right now. And you will know soon enough. I can’t wait for you to know, I am so excited, but I truly cannot think about anything else, especially playing this game, I can’t think of anything else. Oh, then what I want to tell you so bad.”

i wonder what this could mean?

This latest tease comes just days after we heard another rumour that Red Dead Redemption 2 may be getting a next-gen update alongside a Nintendo Switch 2 port. YouTuber Nate the Hate stated the cowboy classic will receive the update and a port to Nintendo’s latest console release later this year.

The original Red Dead Redemption released way back in May 2010. We awarded it 8/10, calling it “an exceptional Rockstar game, one that successfully re-clothes the Grand Theft Auto framework in an exciting, distinct and expertly realised scenario”.

Philips Hue Indoor Smart LED Lightstrip Kit Is Way Cheaper Than It Was on Black Friday on Amazon

by admin May 20, 2025

The right lighting can totally transform a space. Whether it’s to add mood lighting or to match up with what you’re watching to make for a more immersive experience, lights can change things in ways you might not expect. Of course, they can make things brighter when you don’t have any light to go by, too. And if you’re looking for flexible lighting to add to your home or maybe even just your living room, strip lighting is the way to go.

Right now, you can get the 16-foot Philips Hue Indoor Solo Lightstrip Base Kit for just $55, down from its usual price of $90. That’s $35 off and a discount of 39%.

Flexible lighting at an affordable price

This 16-foot lightstrip delivers up to 1,700 lumens of brightness, providing awesome illumination for various settings. Its RGBWW LEDs ensure a wide range of color options, allowing you to customize the hue and intensity to match your mood or activity.

All the lighting has a silicone sleeve covering it, so it’s more durable and easier to manipulate. And it works just like a regular strip you’d cut of paper. You just trim it to how much you want and stick it to a clean surface. Then plug it in. You can add it to your TV, to walls, and a number of different places and it’ll stay there as long as you want it.

You can control the lighting with the Philips Hue app, which gives you over 60 preset scenes and the ability to create custom lighting schedules. For those who prefer voice commands, the lightstrip is compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit, providing hands-free operation.

While the Solo Lightstrip functions effectively on its own, integrating it with the Hue Bridge (sold separately) unlocks additional features. This includes the ability to control up to 50 lights and accessories, set up automations, and manage your lighting remotely, enhancing the overall smart home experience.

For just $55, you’ve got a lot of flexibility in terms of where you can put the lighting, how much you cut, what color you use, and much more. It’s much easier to use than a regular lamp, and you can make sure everything stays where it should. If you want to add some lighting options to more difficult spaces, this might be your best bet. Just make sure you get yours before it’s no longer on sale. You’ll be glad you did.
