Sonic and Shadow coming to Fortnite, leaks suggest, but not how you’d expect

by admin September 12, 2025

It looks like Sonic and Shadow are heading to Fortnite, though perhaps not in the way you’d expect.

Known Fortnite leaker Wenso has shared datamined evidence on social media of Kicks themed around the two Sega hedgehogs based on in-game data, suggesting in-game trainers will be added to the game.

The designs resemble Puma’s forthcoming Sonic the Hedgehog collection, which will be available to purchase from 30th October – perhaps that’s when they’ll be added to Fortnite too, though Wenso noted there are no shop assets yet.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds – The AnimationWatch on YouTube

The Fortnite shop already includes Kicks for brands like Nike, Adidas, Vans, and Puma.

Puma’s collection also includes sneakers themed on sidekick Tails, though these are yet to be discovered in the game.

Does this mean we’ll also get full skins to play as? That does seem unlikely, in part due to character proportions but also that Sonic canonically has not wielded a gun – although Shadow, of course, has.

Still, I think Sega is likely to go the way of Nintendo and not want its characters shooting each other. Perhaps we could see more clothing items in addition to those Kicks?

The Fortnite crossover could also coincide with the release of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, due out later this month. Indeed, the racing game’s premise is crossovers with other series, so perhaps it works both ways.

Fortnite Has A Rare Double XP Weekend And Brings Back A Fan-Favorite Weapon

by admin September 7, 2025

XP has been a regular topic of conversation among Fortnite players during Chapter 6 Season 4, as Epic Games has apparently slashed how quickly most folks will level up just by playing normally. Since this season is a month longer than last season was, it’s not a particularly surprising change. Fortunately, Fortnite is easing the burden a bit by offering double XP all weekend. The boost will last until Monday, September 8 at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET.

Double XP weekends aren’t a very common thing in Fortnite. Typically, when Epic wants to help players gain XP faster, it adds limited-time event quests with simple objectives that are easy to complete in Battle Royale, Reload, or whatever other mode the company wants to promote. Fortnite’s most recent double XP weekend event like this one happened back in March.

The double XP is only one of the things Epic changed for this weekend. Blitz Royale is having a Golden Llamageddon event, where the map will be filled with special gold llama pinatas full of top-tier loot. And in Battle Royale, they’ve unvaulted several old weapons, including the grapple glove, the Boom Bow, the original pump shotgun, and the beloved Holo Twister rifle that was everybody’s favorite gun during the first two seasons of Chapter 6.

The Holo Twister assault rifle is back in Battle Royale this weekend.

And over in Fortnite OG, the path is diverging from how it went in Chapter 1 Season 5 the first time, with the giant purple cube Kevin from back in the day being replaced by the giant red cube Revin.

All these shenanigans are likely to come to an end at the same time double XP does on Monday, so there’s only a limited amount of time to take part before things go back to normal.

Disney x Fortnite: Everything We Know So Far

Disney x Fortnite: Everything We Know So Far

by admin September 6, 2025

In early 2024, Disney invested more than a billion dollars in Fortnite creator Epic Games and announced some sort of new Disney-powered metaverse experience. We’ve already seen a few aspects of this deal come to fruition, like Fortnite skins for the Incredibles and the Disney Villains, plus new Marvel and Star Wars-themed seasons. There’s been a lot of Disney in Fortnite since that announcement, in other words.

But the big Disney x Fortnite metaverse mode has yet to see the light of day, and the project remains shrouded in mystery. Let’s take a look at what we know about it so far.

What actually is the Disney x Fortnite mode?

We don’t really know. There’s been no teaser images or videos, and nobody is talking about it in terms that we would consider concrete. But here’s how Disney described it in the original announcement:

“In addition to being a world-class games experience and interoperating with Fortnite, the new persistent universe will offer a multitude of opportunities for consumers to play, watch, shop and engage with content, characters and stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar and more. Players, gamers and fans will be able to create their own stories and experiences, express their fandom in a distinctly Disney way, and share content with each other in ways that they love.”

While most of this is too nebulous to accurately break down with any real confidence, the key detail there is that Epic’s new Disney experience is described as being its own thing that “interoperates” with Fortnite, rather than being a Fortnite mode. The reason for that distinction is that Disney x Fortnite will be its own walled garden of content–not every Fortnite skin will work with it, and there will be skins that work in the Disney mode that don’t work in the rest of Fortnite.

“Not every outfit will be able to do everything,” Epic executive Saxs Persson told The Verge in October 2024. “A [Lego] minifig doesn’t hold a gun. Brands should be able to enforce the brand guidelines to the degree that they’re comfortable with that brand being associated with particular ratings.”

In March 2025, meanwhile, a Disney Imagineer, speaking at South by Southwest, indicated that Fortnite’s Disney experience will have some interactivity with the Disney parks in the real world.

“Imagine … what if you could go to the park and have an experience in Smuggler’s Run [and] go on this amazing mission, but then have that affect or connect your gameplay at home?” said Asa Kalama, head of interactive experiences at Disney.

OK, but what will the game/experience actually be like?

Despite the quotes above, we still don’t know anything really tangible about the moment-to-moment experience of this Fortnite x Disney thing. Yes, they’ve teased certain features, like being able to watch Disney content in-game or buy Disney merch, and leaks indicate the experience will at least partially be set in some sort of digital adaptation of the real-world Disneyland park, and so perhaps you’ll be able to ride those Disney rides in the game. And another leak mentions cinematic cutscenes and story content, so it may have a campaign to play through.

But even though we have this smattering of details about what will be included, we still have no real idea of what the core gameplay will be for this Fortnite x Disney thing. All these details are hints, but they don’t add up to any sort of big picture.

When is Disney x Fortnite coming out?

Considering how vague the details have been so far, there’s no reason to expect this Disney x Fortnite project to release this year, and a recent Wall Street Journal report indicated it might be a while before it all comes together. The report claimed the mode is being held up by the many layers of Disney bureaucracy that have to approve anything Epic does with it. However, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney claimed the report was false and that Disney actually has been much more responsive than they expected.

Regardless of what is and isn’t true with that story, the total lack of tangible info about the mode means there’s no real reason to think that the Disney x Fortnite project is close to completion. Expect a 2026 launch at the earliest, unless Epic has majorly improved its ability to keep secrets recently.

Reddit Erupts After Epic Games Belatedly Claws Back “Fraudulent” Fortnite Purchases

by admin September 5, 2025

The Fortnite Battle Royale subreddit caught fire Thursday night as many people reported that they were greeted with a pretty upsetting prompt when they logged into Fortnite, with the game telling them they’d had cosmetic items and/or V-Bucks revoked from their accounts. It was an unusual situation because it happened to so many different people at once, and in some cases removed items that the player had for months. When Epic Games finally commented about the situation on Friday morning, it said the revocations were correct and that there was a bug on Xbox specifically that prevented them from making this fix before now.

We’ve fixed a delay where items that were refunded on Xbox or previously gifted from fraudulent accounts were not immediately removed.
As a result, some players may now see a message that their payment was reversed or refunded and see recent items have been removed, even from…

— Fortnite Status (@FortniteStatus) September 5, 2025

The situation sparked dozens of Reddit threads on Thursday night and Friday morning before Epic publicly acknowledged what was going on. There are still others in these threads and in the replies to that tweet claiming innocence, or that they lost items and currency that they purchased legitimately on other platforms like PlayStation or PC. So it’s possible that this enforcement sweep has caught more players than it should have.

There are a few different scenarios in which Epic will claw back purchased items or V-Bucks, the most obvious being when a person buys V-Bucks and then refunds the purchase either through their credit card company or the platform holder–items they may have bought with those V-Bucks should be removed when the money is charged back, along with the V-Bucks themselves. Apparently, a bug caused some players to keep those V-Bucks even after they refunded them, and that’s one thing Epic is correcting now.

Other things that folks have reported doing to earn Epic’s ire include buying an account loaded with V-Bucks in order to gift items to their main account, changing their Xbox region to take advantage of lower prices in other parts of the world, and buying V-Bucks cards from grey market sellers. With Epic seemingly taking enforcement action against a lot of different people at once over months of infractions, there are many different explanations involved.

Fortnite’s FOMO-based item shop makes this situation even more awkward, because it may not possible for someone who lost some cosmetics to simply re-purchase them legitimately, since most items only appear in the shop for a few weeks per year.

Fortnite ‘censors’ “freaky emotes” & players aren’t happy

by admin August 29, 2025

Fortnite players are upset over a new change that affects several emotes in the game, as they can no longer be used under certain conditions.

One of Fortnite’s well-known features is its massive list of emotes. These range from Epic’s original dance emotes to those from collaborations, and everything else in between.

Players often use these to express themselves, be it celebrating a win after eliminating the last player or simply taunting the enemies. While it’s long been a fan favorite feature, of course, things aren’t always sunshine and rainbows.

Article continues after ad

The community is well aware that there are players who tend to use certain emotes for other, more suggestive purposes (looking at you, Party Hips.)  Now, it appears that Epic has finally patched out the ability to use certain emotes this way, drawing the ire of the community.

Fortnite players are furious over new emote change

Through social media posts, players have started pointing out that some emotes, such as Bring It Around and Ride The Pony, can no longer be used when you’re too close to someone else, specifically if they’re doing the Poki and Party Hips emotes.

Instead of having your character perform the selected emote when you pick it in the communication wheel, they’ll either just do nothing or shake their head. Previously, this wasn’t the case at all.

Epic has yet to speak up about the matter, but some players in a Reddit thread claimed “Freaky” emotes have been patched to no longer be usable next to other emotes.”

Many in the thread speculated that this sudden change may be a response to Roblox getting backlash over a similar matter with its own custom emotes.

Article continues after ad

So far, many players aren’t too pleased with this kind of change, blasting it as a form of alleged ‘censorship’.

“I would be fine with this if it were for game modes rated E and E10. T-rated ones should be left alone,” said one user.

“Dumb change, was funny to do on my friends. And the fact they’ve made an initial change without announcing it means they’ll likely want to make more changes like this in the future, which isn’t good,” mentioned another.

Meanwhile, several users are convinced this is merely a “band-aid fix”, as people will eventually figure out alternative ways to do something similar by using a combination of other emotes.

Some fans are hoping Epic will rethink this change, and only time will tell if they do.

Where To Find Fortnite Helicopters – All Choppa Locations In Chapter 6 Season 4

by admin August 26, 2025

It’s been an extremely eventful start to Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4, with Epic already pulling this season’s medallions from circulation for being too overpowered and ridiculous after two weeks of backlash. Fortunately, Fortnite is always introducing new ways of being absurd and over-the-top, and this week’s update is proof of that, as it added two very silly new vehicles: the Roly-Poly bug, and Hammerhead Choppas.

The Roly-Polys are extremely easy to find since they’re just lying on the ground all over the place. If you see bugs running around, then there are some Roly-Polys, too. There are enough of those for everybody, more or less. But that’s not the case with Hammerhead Choppas, of which only a handful spawn each match.

It makes a lot of sense for there to be more Roly-Polys than Hammerhead Choppas. The Choppas, which are new, much cooler-looking versions of Fortnite’s old helicopters, have enough room for a full squad of players and a hired NPC. Roly-Polys, by contrast, can only fit a single player each–they’re essentially new, bouncier versions of Ballers. So, while there are dozens of Roly-Polys that spawn around the island each match, there are only a few Hammerhead Choppas.

Where to find the Hammerhead Choppas in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4

There are five guaranteed Hammerhead Choppas at four main spawn locations–one of the spots actually has two of them. The Hammerhead Choppas spawn at each of the three OXR outposts, which is where the “push back the bugs” events happen, and there are two that spawn at OXR HQ to the north of the center of the island. All five of these Choppas appear to have a 100% spawn chance.

That said, there are also a few other spots where Hammerhead Choppas have some unknown chance of spawning. You can see the spawn locations in the handy map we’ve provided below. Black stars indicate a spot where a Hammerhead Choppa may spawn, red stars indicate a guaranteed Hammerhead Choppa spawn, and red with a black outline indicates two guaranteed Choppas.

There are five guaranteed spawns (red) and three other potential spawn locations (black) for Hammerhead Choppas.

The guaranteed Hammerhead Choppas won’t just be on the ground, of course. The reason they spawn in these locations is that OXR has all the helipads. So when you’re in one of those places trying to nab your fun new method of air transportation, look for it on platforms like this.

For those locations where there’s only a chance of a Choppa spawn, however, they’ll be parked on the grass.

How to use the loudspeaker on Hammerhead Choppas

Fortnite is celebrating the arrival of Hammerhead Choppas to Battle Royale by adding two weekly quests, neither of which is particularly complicated. The first is to damage players from 50 meters or more away while in a Choppa, and while the Choppa itself has no weapons, you presumably would–all you have to do is switch to a passenger seat and fire away. You don’t have to kill anybody. You just need to hit a few shots. And shots on the bugs counts, for the record.

All five guaranteed Hammerhead Choppas spawn on platforms like this.

But while anybody who plays Fortnite has shot some enemies before, the other Choppa quest involves a non-standard mechanic that is completely unique to Choppas: the ability to blast music over a loudspeaker while you fly around. There’s a quest to do just that within 100 meters of an enemy player. It’s not a difficult task, but since it’s only something Choppas can do, and Choppas aren’t in the game very much, most folks probably don’t know about it.

Fortunately, this quest is as easy at they come, because you can turn on the loudspeaker by pressing the emote button–that’s down on the d-pad on a controller, or B on a keyboard. If you didn’t immediately complete the quest when you fired it up, just fly around until you find somebody. Considering that a 100-meter radius is pretty large, it’ll probably happen by accident.

Ninja defends Kai Cenat as Twitch star’s Fortnite skin sparks criticism

by admin August 21, 2025

Ninja is coming to the defense of Twitch star Kai Cenat after Fortnite added his skin to the game ahead of prominent creators more associated with the battle royale.

On August 19, Kai Cenat unveiled his new Fortnite skin, part of the Icon Series lineup, on the Las Vegas Sphere.

While Kai is one of the biggest names in the streaming world, some fans have taken issue with the AMP star getting a skin instead of Fortnite players or other streamers such as IShowSpeed.

Surprisingly, Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, someone who has had beef with Cenat in the past, stepped up to support Kai, explaining why it’s not as big of a deal some are making it out to be.

Ninja responds to Kai Cenat Fortnite skin backlash

During a broadcast, viewers inquired why Kai was getting a skin and Ninja had a simple reply.

“There are creators who have Icon skins and then there’s just Icons,” Belevins explained. “It’s safe to say he’s up there in the streaming scene.”

Going through the roster of skins, Ninja said that a Speed skin would be “great” too, but added that Epic doesn’t just pump out cosmetics.

“These things are spaced out, so we can still see a Speed one in the future and there are loads of people who don’t play this game every day.”

Of note, Ninja pointed to the Eminem, Billie Eilish and Harry Kane skins as famous people not exactly associated with Fortnite, and there was more room for streamers to get skins.

Ninja emphasised that Kai is an Icon and the fact that he’s not getting a Creator Skin means he’s not taking a skin away from someone.

Furthermore, he was convinced that Kai would be playing Fortnite a lot during his upcoming Mafiathon 3 after setting a Twitch subscriber record last year with 728,535.

The Kai Cenat collab is set to arrive on September 12, 2025.

‘Play Instantly on Discord’: Fortnite will be Nvidia and Discord’s first instant game demo

by admin August 18, 2025

Nvidia’s GeForce Now is getting a big upgrade next month — and it’s also part of an intriguing new experiment. Nvidia, Discord, and Epic Games have teamed up for an early test of instant game demos for Discord servers, which could theoretically let you immediately try a game without buying it, downloading it, or signing up for an account.

“You can simply click a button that says ‘try a game’ and then connect your Epic Games account and immediately jump in and and join the action, and you’ll be playing Fortnite in seconds without any downloads or installs,” says Nvidia product marketing director Andrew Fear.

Here’s a screenshot of what it might look like, from an Nvidia video, which also shows the Fortnite demo is currently limited to a 30-minute free trial:

It doesn’t sound completely frictionless if you still need an Epic Games account to play, and it’s not clear if Nvidia, Epic and Discord will offer the demo outside of Gamescom just yet. Nvidia is calling it a “technology announcement” rather than a confirmed feature, one that’ll hopefully see game publishers and developers reach out if they’re interested in potentially adding it to their games.

After Sony bought Gaikai in 2012, it initially suggested it would offer instant try-before-you-buy game demos on the PlayStation 4 too, but that never happened. Years later, Gaikai’s founder told me that publishers didn’t necessarily want it.

Kai Cenat set to reveal his own Fortnite Icon Series skin

by admin August 18, 2025

Kai Cenat has just “leaked” that he’s getting his own Icon Series skin in Fortnite, announcing when fans can finally take a first look at it.

Nowadays, Fortnite isn’t merely known for being a Battle Royale title. Thanks to the expanding list of collabs, the title has truly evolved into a pop culture phenomenon.

In addition to featuring all kinds of fictional characters and real-life personalities, the game has also brought popular content creators and streamers to the island, such as Ninja, NickEh30, and Clix.

It turns out, the next one to join the Icon Series lineup is no other than Twitch streamer Kai Cenat, as seen in a recent announcement. Here’s everything you need to know about the reveal.

Kai Cenat “leaks” his own Fortnite Icon Series Skin

Kai Cenat shared the announcement in a post on X, claiming that there’s a “huge announcement” regarding a Fortnite Icon Series Reveal tomorrow at  8:30 PM PST/11:30 PM EST.

Article continues after ad

This, of course, came off as quite a surprise to the community, considering dataminers usually leak skins early. Though there are occasionally some exceptions that catch people off guard, like this one.

Article continues after ad

One thing that’s worth pointing out, however, shortly after the announcement, the official Fortnite account retweeted Kai’s post, confirming that he really is about to get his own skin.

Epic didn’t spoil any details further in their post, though they did give a playful nudge by saying “leaked.”

Either way, even though the skin has yet to be revealed, looking at past Icon Series skins, we can expect it to come with additional cosmetics, such as a pickaxe, back bling, and emote, among others.

Article continues after ad

This isn’t the first time Kai has worked with Epic. In 2024, Kai Cenat, Sketch, and the AMP team were featured in the Reload trailer.

Since then, Sketch has received his own emote, while Kai is about to get his own collab added. In terms of Fortnite, Kai has also done a marathon stream with iShowSpeed, in which they challenged themselves to keep streaming until they secured a Victory Royale.
