Fold teams up with Visa, Stripe for Bitcoin rewards card

by admin September 23, 2025

Fold just made earning Bitcoin as easy as swiping a card—no hoops, no juggling tokens, just real BTC with every purchase.

Summary

  • Fold launched a Bitcoin rewards credit card backed by Visa and Stripe, offering up to 3.5% back in BTC.
  • Cardholders can also earn up to 10% back at major retailers, expanding Fold’s $83 million Bitcoin rewards ecosystem.
  • The product removes staking and category restrictions, positioning Bitcoin as a mainstream loyalty currency.

The company is expanding its ecosystem, having already distributed over $83 million in bitcoin rewards to users. Supported by Stripe’s issuing rails and Visa’s network, the new card seeks to deliver rewards in BTC instead of traditional perks, signaling a push to make crypto a mainstream loyalty currency.

In an announcement on Sept. 23, Fold said the card is designed to offer up to 3.5% back in Bitcoin (BTC) on all purchases, bypassing the category rotations and complex loyalty points typically associated with traditional rewards cards.

Fold CEO Will Reeves emphasized the product’s simplicity, stating it requires “no tokens to stake, no exchange account or balance requirements; just real Bitcoin, earned automatically with every purchase.”

“Our credit card offers clear and compelling value and makes bitcoin easily accessible to everyone,” Reeves said. “It’s simple enough for someone new to bitcoin, but built with the transparency and control early adopters expect. This is the kind of financial tool we’ve always believed bitcoin could power, and with Stripe’s infrastructure and Visa’s global reach, we can finally deliver it at scale.”

A closer look at Fold’s BTC rewards

Cardholders will earn an unlimited 2% back in Bitcoin instantly on every purchase. This base rate can be boosted to 3.5% for users who pay their card balance using a Fold Checking Account with qualified activity, creating an incentive to operate within Fold’s broader financial ecosystem.

Beyond these flat rates, the card taps into Fold’s existing rewards network, offering up to 10% back at hundreds of major merchants. This network includes everyday spending destinations such as Amazon, Target, Home Depot, Uber, Starbucks, and DoorDash, positioning the card to capture a significant portion of typical consumer expenditure.

The new credit card represents a strategic expansion for Fold, which has already established a considerable footprint in the bitcoin rewards space. In the statement, the company claimed it has processed over $3.1 billion in transaction volume to date and has distributed more than $83 million in Bitcoin rewards to users through its existing products.

These include a Bitcoin debit card, an exchange, and gift cards. As the first publicly traded bitcoin financial services company, Fold also notably holds nearly 1,500 BTC in its corporate treasury, aligning its financial strategy directly with the success of its products and the adoption of Bitcoin.

The launch also highlights the growing role of payment processors in integrating digital assets. Stripe has been steadily re-entering the cryptocurrency market this year, launching its Tempo blockchain project in partnership with Paradigm and enabling USDC acceptance for Shopify merchants in collaboration with Coinbase.

Visa, meanwhile, has leaned into crypto-linked card programs and expanded its stablecoin settlement operations, which now handle an estimated $1 billion in annualized volume.

Looking for an Android upgrade? Save up to AU$813.90 on the Samsung Galaxy S25, S25 Ultra and the Z Fold 7

by admin September 17, 2025

As the world buzzes with new phone announcements from a certain fruity phone maker, the exciting news for Android fans is that Samsung is launching an epic sale in response. While the budget-friendly Galaxy S25 FE is set to arrive later this month, Samsung’s making its powerhouse flagship Galaxy S25, S25 Ultra and the Galaxy Fold 7 phones considerably more affordable.

The South Korean tech giant is taking AU$500 off the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and AU$400 off the 256GB Galaxy S25, but the savings grow an extra 10% at checkout with the code LIVEGALAXY101. A free phone case is also included. As for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the company is offering a simple 15% off – providing savings up to AU$532.35 depending on your model of choice.

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to upgrade, this is a fantastic opportunity to score one of the best phones on the market for a seriously impressive price.

Samsung AU is a TechRadar preferred partner (What does this mean?)

This sale caters to every kind of buyer. It brings the Galaxy S25 down to the point where it becomes a serious alternative to the best cheap phones, while the S25 Ultra is now within reach for a new market of buyers. And, for those seeking true innovation, this first-time discount makes the versatile Galaxy Z Fold 7 – a device that handles work, play, entertainment and everything in between – much harder to resist.

Choosing between the three is simply a matter of function and budget. No matter which you opt for, though, you’ll get a stellar deal. These offers are only available until the September 24 (or September 28 for the Z Fold 7). Remember to use the code LIVEGALAXY101 to save an extra 10% on the S25 and S25 Ultra.

8 months after moving on from Helldivers 2, Johan Pilestedt returns to thank everyone for welcoming Xbox divers into the fold: ‘All the stories I read make my heart sing’

by admin August 30, 2025

One nice thing about Helldivers 2 is that you can join random sessions with strangers all night and never find a bad egg. Emerge from the cryostasis transportation pod on another diver’s ship and you’re likely to be greeted with a salute, handshake, or hug emote. That’s just how Helldivers roll.

The community’s been on its extra-best behavior this week with an uptick of fresh recruits, as Helldivers 2 became the first Sony-published game to come to Xbox. It’s been one big welcoming party: Xbox players are sounding off on Reddit to thank the veterans helping them, walking them through confusing missions, and not freaking out when they accidentally blow the whole squad up. I’ve been playing with my fiancée every night this week, and it’s been fun to join Xbox lobbies and show them the ropes (insist on driving the car and then flipping it repeatedly).

The wholesome surge has been so nice to watch that Johan Pilestedt, Arrowhead’s chief creative officer who left the Helldivers 2 team in January to work on a new game, popped back into the Helldivers subreddit to thank community members with his first post in over a year.

“Over the last couple of days I’ve seen so many comments from the new players joining the community and they are truly wonderful and inspiring. That so many are shocked by how kind and empathic this community is, shows that we need more kindness in our digital lives,” wrote Pilestedt.

“I want to say, on behalf of everyone that gave the better part of a decade to make Helldivers, that we truly appreciate all of you. From the veterans of Malevelon Creek (o7), to those that fought on Meridia, defended Super Earth and held EotS for the way you have treated and helped the new recruits joining from Xbox and elsewhere.”

Watch On

While he’s still involved with the game as studio leadership, Pilestedt has relinquished his day-to-day Helldivers duties to game director Mikael Eriksson and Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani. He’s directing Arrowhead’s next game, which is still a big mystery.

“All the stories I read make my heart sing—this unity and friendship is why I make games and I look forward to a decade of Helldivers with you all.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

“Now go roleplay space fascists!” he concluded.

The Xbox release of Helldivers 2 coincided with a special Halo 3: ODST-themed warbond with two armor sets and four Halo guns faithfully recreated in Super Earth’s image. The next major update comes next week, introducing underground bug missions and a new Terminid wyvern monstrosity.

The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the first fully dust-resistant foldable

by admin August 20, 2025

Finally, a foldable to take to the beach. The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is official, matching last year’s starting MSRP of $1,799, and it comes with an IP68 rating. That means full water and dust resistance, which is something that no other foldable maker has figured out yet — and no small feat for a device with moving parts.

The 10 Pro Fold uses a new hinge with a gear-less design that Google says provides better protection against drops. It certainly feels sturdy, though it didn’t feel overly stiff when I unfolded and folded the phone back up again. The crease on the inner screen doesn’t look any more prominent to my eye, but I’m not usually bothered by the crease anyway.

Very small particles are a particular concern for foldables. A piece of sand or dirt that works its way under the sensitive inner screen can cause it to fail. Folding phones have some protections against particles, like brushes in the hinges to keep dust out, but none had been considered fully dust-tight — until now. Samsung’s IP48-rated Folds and Flips only guarantee protection against objects greater than a millimeter in size, which is bigger than a speck of dust (not to mention many sand grains).

Dust resistance isn’t the only hardware change on the 10 Pro Fold. When folded, the front panel is about a millimeter narrower, making the whole device a tiny bit less wide than the last version. With slimmer bezels, the outer screen measures 6.4 inches compared to 6.3 inches on the 9 Pro Fold, and the 8-inch inner display gets a little brighter in peak brightness mode this time around: 3,000 nits compared to 2,700.

The 10 Pro Fold gets the same high-level updates as the rest of the Pixel 10 series, including the new Tensor G5 chip and Qi2 support. Tensor G5 is at least partially responsible for a slew of new AI features, many of which run on the device itself. There’s a translator for phone calls that mimics the speaker’s voice, something called Magic Cue that proactively finds and suggests relevant bits of information based on context, and a journal app with AI-powered prompts. You can read up on the new AI features in more detail by jumping over to my Pixel 10 and 10 Pro hands-on.

Qi2 is a welcome addition to the Android ecosystem, offering support for up to 15W charging on the 10 Pro Fold and compatibility with a whole wide world of phone accessories thanks to the embedded magnets in the device. Google is calling its version Pixelsnap, and I can confirm that its first-party magnetic ring grip will remain stuck to a folding phone even while dangling the phone by the ring. Did it still make me a little queasy? Absolutely.

One place the 10 Pro Fold hasn’t offered improvements is in camera hardware. The Fold’s sensors and lenses are still a bit smaller than the more powerful, light-sensitive hardware on the two slab-style Pro phones. Google may have solved dust resistance on a folding phone, but it hasn’t found a way to cram in better cameras.

The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold will come in two options that are shockingly not white or black: a gray-ish “moonstone” and a subtle greenish-yellow “jade.” It goes on sale on October 9th, with preorders starting today.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is $600 off ahead of the new model’s debut

by admin August 18, 2025

Some people like to stay on the cutting edge of technology. If that’s you, you already know that Google is going to officially unveil its Pixel 10 phones (including a new Fold) during its August 20th event. But if you’re someone who prefers to use these opportunities to save on last-gen tech, you’ve been rewarded with a sweet deal on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The base 256GB version in obsidian (black) is down to $1,199 at Amazon and Best Buy, which is 33 percent off its original $1,799 price. It was selling for $100 more just last week.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold was a big leap forward compared to Google’s first-gen foldable, touting a lightweight design that looks and feels like a normal phone before you unfold it. One of its main drawbacks was that, despite its high original price, you don’t get the same great cameras in the cheaper Pixel 9 Pro (which, by the way, is only $599 at Best Buy). They’re still good, mind you, but reviewer Allison Johnson said during her testing that its telephoto lens produced softer images by comparison, and low-light photos were less detailed. Drawbacks aside, she was eager to recommend the foldable phone at its original $1,800 price.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is nearly upon us, and it’ll likely deliver some sizeable improvements. Google itself has already shown off its design in YouTube clips, and it’s very similar to the model on sale now. However, there’s a rumor that it might have an IP68 rating, which would make it dustproof. Dust was the kryptonite for early foldable models, but the tech has apparently come a long way since then, so this would be a huge selling point in favor of the new model if it’s true.
