BNB Price Shows Resilience After Israel-Iran Clash Sparks Risk Asset Flight

Binance Coin (BNB) is showing resilience after a stormy week for financial markets, as Israel attacked Iran in a bid to limit its nuclear program and missile capabilities, leading to a large-scale missile attack in response.

The conflict saw investors flee risk assets and led to more than $700 million in liquidations in the crypto market in just 24 hours, according to CoinGlass. BNB, however, managed to maintain a narrow trading range of just over 1%, resisting a broader altcoin pullback.

BNB, after the sell-off, failed to break above $660, its immediate resistance level according to CoinDesk Research’s technical analysis data model, and has since been consolidating within a symmetrical triangle pattern.

Despite the setback, the coin has stayed above key support at $640, a zone aligned with the 78.6% Fibonacci retracement level. Trading volume analysis suggests sellers dominate near $655.5, while a buyer base forms around $649, the model shows.

Technicals signal a mixed picture. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) turned negative, and the Relative Strength Index (RSI) sits just under 50, hinting at fading momentum.

Yet the 50/200-day moving averages are nearing a golden cross, and the Chaikin Money Flow indicator remains positive, a setup that has historically preceded upward reversals, according to the model.

But sentiment around BNB isn’t all bullish. Net Taker Volume, a gauge of aggressive sell pressure, hit a multi-week low of -$197 million.

Meanwhile, even as Binance Smart Chain’s perpetual trading volume rose exponentially month-over-month, this activity doesn’t appear to have sparked new demand for BNB. Futures open interest remains down more than 30% from its December peak.

New jetpack design makes “underwater flight” possible for the first time

A company named CudaJet has gone viral after posting a video about its product, an underwater jetpack that makes traveling underwater easier than ever.

It’s not the first video CudaJet has uploaded of the new jetpack, though. Looking at its YouTube channel, the company first began sharing it online back in May 2022.

They claim the jetpack is a “revolution in water sports,” and their latest video on June 5 finally went viral. It has amassed almost 300k views, and it’s sparked quite a conversation from viewers sharing their thoughts in the comments.

Underwater jetpack goes “over 180mph”

According to the video, the “world’s first” underwater jetpack enables you to fly underwater at speeds of up to three meters per second. According to CudaJet, that’s the same as over 180 miles per hour if you were moving on land.

When it comes to using the device, all you have to do is clip it on like a backpack and jump into the water. How fast you move is controlled by a handheld controller, but, to change directions, all you have to do is move your body.

“You’re always in control,” said CudaJet.

The jetpack lasts about 90 minutes underwater, and it floats, so you won’t have to worry about it weighing you down if you want to hang out at the surface of the water.

It’s not cheap, however. The products are made to order and are only available through CudaJet’s website for a staggering $31,126.

Airlines Don’t Want You to Know They Sold Your Flight Data to DHS

A data broker owned by the country’s major airlines, including Delta, American Airlines, and United, collected US travelers’ domestic flight records, sold access to them to Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and then as part of the contract told CBP to not reveal where the data came from, according to internal CBP documents obtained by 404 Media. The data includes passenger names, their full flight itineraries, and financial details.

CBP, a part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), says it needs this data to support state and local police to track people of interest’s air travel across the country, in a purchase that has alarmed civil liberties experts.

The documents reveal for the first time in detail why at least one part of DHS purchased such information, and comes after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detailed its own purchase of the data. The documents also show for the first time that the data broker, called the Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC), tells government agencies not to mention where it sourced the flight data from.

“The big airlines—through a shady data broker that they own called ARC—are selling the government bulk access to Americans’ sensitive information, revealing where they fly and the credit card they used,” senator Ron Wyden said in a statement.

ARC is owned and operated by at least eight major US airlines, other publicly released documents show. The company’s board of directors include representatives from Delta, Southwest, United, American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, JetBlue, and European airlines Lufthansa and Air France, and Canada’s Air Canada. More than 240 airlines depend on ARC for ticket settlement services.

ARC’s other lines of business include being the conduit between airlines and travel agencies, finding travel trends in data with other firms like Expedia, and fraud prevention, according to material on ARC’s YouTube channel and website. The sale of US fliers’ travel information to the government is part of ARC’s Travel Intelligence Program (TIP).

A Statement of Work included in the newly obtained documents, which describes why an agency is buying a particular tool or capability, says CBP needs access to ARC’s TIP product “to support federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to identify persons of interest’s US domestic air travel ticketing information.” 404 Media obtained the documents through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

The new documents obtained by 404 Media also show ARC asking CBP to “not publicly identify vendor, or its employees, individually or collectively, as the source of the Reports unless the Customer is compelled to do so by a valid court order or subpoena and gives ARC immediate notice of same.”

The Statement of Work says that TIP can show a person’s paid intent to travel and tickets purchased through travel agencies in the US and its territories. The data from the Travel Intelligence Program (TIP) will provide “visibility on a subject’s or person of interest’s domestic air travel ticketing information as well as tickets acquired through travel agencies in the U.S. and its territories,” the documents say. They add that this data will be “crucial” in both administrative and criminal cases.

A DHS Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) available online says that TIP data is updated daily with the previous day’s ticket sales, and contains more than one billion records spanning 39 months of past and future travel. The document says TIP can be searched by name, credit card, or airline, but ARC contains data from ARC-accredited travel agencies, such as Expedia, and not flights booked directly with an airline. “If the passenger buys a ticket directly from the airline, then the search done by ICE will not show up in an ARC report,” that PIA says. The PIA notes that the data impacts both US and non-US persons, meaning it does include information on US citizens.

“While obtaining domestic airline data—like many other transaction and purchase records—generally doesn’t require a warrant, there’s still supposed to go through a legal process that ensures independent oversight and limits data collection to records that will support an investigation,” Jake Laperruque, deputy director of the Center for Democracy & Technology’s Security and Surveillance Project, told 404 Media in an email. “As with many other types of sensitive and revealing data, the government seems intent on using data brokers to buy their way around important guardrails and limits.”

CBP’s contract with ARC started in June 2024 and may extend to 2029, according to the documents. The CBP contract 404 Media obtained documents for was an $11,025 transaction. Last Tuesday, a public procurement database added a $6,847.50 update to that contract, which said it was exercising “Option Year 1,” meaning it was extending the contract. The documents are redacted but briefly mention CBP’s OPR, or Office of Professional Responsibility, which in part investigates corruption by CBP employees.

What Ending the U.S. Ban on Supersonic Flight Means for the Future of Travel

It’s been 22 years since the last flight of the Concorde, a now-retired supersonic airliner that flew at a maximum speed of 1,345 miles per hour (2,179 kilometers per hour). At those speeds, you could fly from London to New York City in around three hours. A long-held U.S. ban on supersonic flight over land limited Concorde’s routes and continues to restrict commercial aircraft from flying faster than sound over land. Today, those super speedy—and super loud—flights could be making a comeback.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Friday to reverse the 1973 ban on civilian supersonic flights, instructing the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to establish a standard for supersonic aircraft noise certification. The decision would make way for faster routes, if companies can figure out ways to make their aircraft quieter and more affordable.

When planes fly faster than the speed of sound, Mach 1, or about 767 miles per hour (1,234 kilometers per hour), they create a loud, explosive noise due to the shock waves created by the extreme speeds. It sounds like loud thunder and it would startle people living in cities where supersonic jets fly overhead. As a result, the FAA prohibited supersonic flights of non-military aircraft over land, enacting the measure on April 27, 1973. At the time, aerospace technology wasn’t advanced enough to resolve the noise issue; since then, however, research has shown ways to soften the sounds of supersonic flights.

Boom, a Colorado-based company, is working on a supersonic airliner, named Boom Overture. Its current prototype, XB-1, is designed to fly at Mach 1.7 while carrying 64 to 80 passengers on board. As the leading U.S. company in the market today, Boom naturally welcomed the decision. In late January, Boom Supersonic flew its experimental aircraft faster than sound for the first time. Boom has seen interest from carriers like American Airlines and United Airlines.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, the administration’s reversal of the ban came with a set of rules. Trump’s executive order directed the FAA to revoke the supersonic speed limit as long as aircraft do not produce an audible sonic boom on the ground. “The Order instructs the FAA Administrator to establish a standard for supersonic aircraft noise certification that considers community acceptability, economic reasonableness, and technological feasibility,” according to The White House. It also claims that recent developments in aerospace engineering “make supersonic flight not just possible, but safe, sustainable, and commercially viable.”

NASA is working on its own solution to soften the impact of sonic booms. Earlier this year, the agency fired up the engine of its X-59 research aircraft, which is designed to fly faster than sound but with drastically reduced noise. “People below would hear sonic ‘thumps’ rather than booms, if they hear anything at all,” NASA wrote in a statement. The plane is designed to reduce the pressure change that flows over the ground, thereby reducing the sound. The X-59’s engine is mounted on top of the aircraft, which reduces the amount of noise from the plane that reaches the ground.

Aside from the noise, commercial supersonic flight has also been criticized for its negative impact on the environment. Supersonic aircraft consume more fuel. Concorde burned through 22 tons of fuel per hour—twice as much as a Boeing 747, which can carry four times as many passengers, according to Transport & Environment.

To help address the negative environmental impact, Boom says its planes will operate on sustainable alternative fuels. That may not fully resolve the issue, as faster planes need to fly at higher altitudes, where the air is thinner and there’s less drag and heat generation. At those higher altitudes in Earth’s stratosphere, the emissions from the plane would linger up to 20 times longer, according to Aerospace America. NASA says it’s working to find solutions for those challenges as well.

Supersonic flights are also expensive, with pricey operation costs and premium services at extremely high fares. Concorde, for example, was not considered profitable as the cost of fuel far exceeded the profit made per flight. Airlines hoping to get in on the supersonic action need to figure out a sustainable model to offer customers for a quicker flight.

Lifting the ban may have been the first step, but there’s still a long way to go before faster routes take off in the skies.

Crew member found “dancing in the toilet” on flight from US to London

A British Airways flight steward was found naked and dancing in the bathroom mid-flight after he went missing during transit.

The flight, which completed its voyage uninterrupted, was ferrying passengers from San Francisco to London.

As reported by The Sun, the steward in question’s colleagues started searching for him aboard the flight after it became apparent that he was missing, eventually discovering him in a business class bathroom.

“He was stripping off and dancing in the toilet,” one member of the flight crew told the publication, adding, “It was a long time before he was located and he was completely out of it.”

“Not only is it really dangerous, it is a crazy way to end your BA career. This job can do ridiculous things to people, but staging a one-man disco in a Club World toilet is a new one on me,” they continued.

Upon being located, the employee was provided with spare clothes and seated in First Class for the remainder of the flight. Direct flights from San Francisco to London take approximately 10 hours, although it’s not clear how long into the service the incident occurred.

The flight steward was found in a Club World bathroom.

Suspended from duty

Received by authorities after they were notified by British Airways staff, the man received medical attention after disembarking and was suspended from his job pending investigation. When contacted for comment, BA told The Sun that the matter was now under police jurisdiction.

As of writing, it’s not known why the worker, whose name remains unknown, engaged in inappropriate workplace behaviour. One member of the flight crew who spoke to The Sun suggested that illicit substances may have been involved, but this remains unconfirmed.

Strange events aren’t unheard of at 30,000 feet. In 2024, Australian airline Qantas apologized to passengers after an R-rated movie was accidentally shown to all passengers aboard a flight from Sydney to Tokyo.

When did the Minnesota Timberwolves start winning Game 3 of the Western Conference finals? Immediately after they were trounced by 15 points to lose Game 2 and fell behind 2-0 in the series.

When they rolled up to their chartered 757 flight at Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City late Thursday night, no doubt there were some frustrated folks on board.

Jaden McDaniels was annoyed with all the fouls he’d been whistled for while defending MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Julius Randle was steamed after being benched by coach Chris Finch for the fourth quarter. Naz Reid was trying to recite a shooter’s mantra in his head after starting the series 0-of-12 from 3-point range.

Then they boarded the plane — and saw and heard Anthony Edwards.

“Around Ant,” Reid said, “you can never really get down on yourself.”

Edwards’ endless energy can sometimes seem sophomoric. His lack of a filter often leads to hilarity but also fines from the NBA. But for his team, it never leads to negativity, and Edwards’ mood after Game 2 was repeatedly cited by coaches and teammates as the catalyst for the stunning Game 3 turnaround in which the Wolves struck back for a shocking 42-point victory.

That pivot has the series at 2-1, with the Wolves gaining momentum into what could turn out to be a series-defining Game 4 on Monday night.

“He always comes in a good mood and he’s always ready to go. He was one of the most positive voices after Game 2,” said Finch, who affirmed before the Game 3 rout win that he felt his team’s attitude was good, despite the demoralizing week in OKC.

“The leadership that [Edwards] has shown this season is up by leaps and bounds. It’s just another example of it.”

Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves shock the Thunder with a 42-point blowout to take Game 3 of the Western Conference finals.

It wasn’t only Edwards who backed up his emotional energy with dominant, physical force for a 16-point first quarter in Game 3 that staked the Wolves to a 20-point lead they never looked back from.

Teammates were also watching Randle after his benching.

Edwards, 23, approached Randle on the plane and encouraged him to keep his spirits up. Randle was not happy with the decision, but the 11-year veteran knew how important his reaction would be, not just in the series but in his relatively new tenure with the team.

By the time the plane landed in Minneapolis, Randle was determined to move on.

“I’m the one who keeps saying that it’s all about winning and regardless as a competitor, you don’t want to let your emotions overtake what’s best for the team,” Randle said. “I wanted to make sure I came back the same, whether it’s a good day or a bad day … as hard as it is at times, you got to check your ego at the door and that’s what I try to do.

“And I think it’s, honestly, it’s beneficial for me because when I do that and I get myself lost in the team, I’m able to come back and play.”

Randle met with Finch on Saturday morning before the team’s shootaround, they said, and Finch explained his decision and they moved on.

As soon as Randle walked onto the court, his teammates picked up on his refocus and unaffected mood.

“Ju was a big part of how we came out in this game,” Wolves veteran point guard Mike Conley said. “His mentality before the game kind of led the way for how we should start this.”

Randle arrived at the Target Center four hours before tipoff to get in extra shooting work after he’d gone 5-of-16 over the previous five quarters.

The only way he outwardly showed his mood was different was through his pregame music, switching from his usual Drake and Nipsey Hussle, to Young Jeezy, a special selection suggested by Wolves development coach James “Flight” White.

“It was a Jeezy kind of day,” Randle said. “I just knew I had to get it out the mud, so Flight put on Jeezy and it just got my mind right.”

When the game was over, Edwards had 30 points in 30 minutes; Randle scored 24 on a smooth 9-of-15 shooting; McDaniels helped hold Gilgeous-Alexander to a 4-of-13 shooting night; Reid made his first four shots, including two 3-pointers to break his slump; the Wolves were up 31 at the half and got themselves back into the series.

“I never sensed a loss of confidence in our team, I just sensed frustration,” Finch said. “They really had a good mentality after these last few days. That made a difference.”

How to watch SpaceX’s ninth Starship flight test on Tuesday

The FAA last week cleared SpaceX’s Starship to fly again after concluding its review of the previous flight, which ended in an explosion, and the next test could now take off as soon as Tuesday. SpaceX is eyeing May 27 for Starship’s ninth flight test, with a launch window opening at 7:30PM ET (6:30PM local time for the Texas Starbase). This launch will mark the first time SpaceX reuses a Super Heavy booster; the booster for flight nine previously flew with Starship’s seventh flight test earlier this year. While single-use parts have been replaced, SpaceX says it’s reusing 29 of the booster’s 33 Raptor engines.

As always, viewers at home will be able to watch along by tuning into the livestream, starting about 30 minutes before Starship launches. That will be available on SpaceX’s website and in a broadcast on its X profile.

SpaceX conducted Starship’s eighth flight test back in March, but the vehicle ran into some issues a few minutes after launch. The Super Heavy booster was able to return to the launch site after separation from the upper stage and be successfully caught by the tower’s “chopstick” arms, but as for the ship itself, several Raptor engines shut off, causing it to tumble and ultimately blow itself up.

SpaceX says the issue was likely due to “a hardware failure in one of the upper stage’s center Raptor engines that resulted in inadvertent propellant mixing and ignition.” It’s since made some changes to prevent that from happening again. SpaceX said in an update on May 22 that “engines on the Starship’s upper stage will receive additional preload on key joints, a new nitrogen purge system, and improvements to the propellant drain system.”

For flight nine, the Super Heavy booster won’t return to the launch site, but will instead splash down in the ocean. The Starship upper stage will attempt to deploy eight Starlink dummy satellites, and SpaceX is otherwise looking to this flight to test “several experiments focused on enabling Starship’s upper stage to return to the launch site.”
