Control multiplayer spin-off FBC: Firebreak has two major updates planned for this year

FBC: Firebreak hears your criticism “loudly and clearly” and is fixing things “starting now”

by admin June 22, 2025

Remedy says it’s hearing your feedback on FBC: Firebreak “loudly and clearly” and is committed to improving things, particularly the shooter’s opening hour, “starting now”.

Collating feedback from across social media, Discord, and Steam, the developer – for which Firebreak is its first self-published title – said that while “several things have gone well”, “clearly, not everything has”. Consequently, its first priority is to improve the game’s “first hour experience”, making progression faster and more rewarding.

Here’s a trailer for FBC: Firebreak.Watch on YouTube

“The game’s first hours do not provide a great experience due to a combination of things. Some of this is down to a lack of onboarding (more about that in a bit), explaining the game’s systems, how to take advantage of the tools at your disposal, and a lack of clarity as to what to do in the Jobs and how to do the work effectively,” the team said in its first patch notes.

“In addition, the power fantasy isn’t great in the first hours of the game as starting (tier 1) weapons feel weak, and unlocking higher-tier weapons requires a bit too much grinding,” the studio added. “We can see from the data and are seeing feedback that players who stick around and unlock more powerful tier 3 weapons and Perks, playing on higher Threat levels and Full three zone Job runs, are having a better time.”

Because of this, Remedy says it wants to get you “to the fun faster”, which also means getting us to the better tools and weapons. With better onboarding, user-interface clarity, and making Jobs easier to access, the studio thinks we’ll get a more rewarding start.

That’s not all, though.

“We hear you: the grind is too slow,” the team added. “You want to try different builds, equip stronger weapons, use Altered Augments and experiment with Perks. Right now, getting to that takes too long.

“The upgrade economy was balanced with players finding a good amount of Lost Assets currency during Jobs, but as the currency (the folders on the ground) does not particularly stand out from the environments, players completely ignore them and are thus earning Lost Assets roughly 3x slower than hoped,” the notes admitted. “Then, players do not earn Lost Assets unless they finish a job. If you exit a job midway or disconnect, you’ll get nothing. That’s frustrating. We are looking into what we could do about this, but there are no changes to announce yet.”

For the full notes, head on over to Steam.

In Eurogamer’s FBC Firebreak review, we awarded it 3 out of 5 stars, writing: “A bold approach to the concept of work marks this game out as a singular enterprise”.

Coinbase Fixing Account Restrictions Plaguing Users

Coinbase Fixing Account Restrictions Plaguing Users

by admin June 9, 2025

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said the crypto exchange has reduced unnecessary restrictions on its users by 82%, which has been a “major issue” for the exchange.

In a June 6 X post, Armstrong acknowledged that account freezing has been a problem “for longer than is acceptable,” and that it has become a top priority for his firm to improve.

“The issue has been reduced by 82% so far, with more improvements coming. We’ll keep you updated as further improvements roll out,” Armstrong said, before asking all customers with frozen accounts to contact Coinbase Support.

Coinbase users have expressed frustration over account restrictions for years, reporting sudden freezes lasting several months or longer, prompting some to abandon the platform.

Customer confidence in Coinbase was also recently shaken by a mass data breach that exposed the details of more than 70,000 customer accounts.

Coinbase says fewer restrictions due to improved models

Armstrong credited the progress to Dor Levi, a member of Coinbase’s product team, who came on board nine weeks ago with the primary goal of fixing the account restrictions.

In a post of his own, Levi said much of the progress has come from making “significant investments” in Coinbase’s machine learning models and infrastructure.

“We’ve improved the precision and recall of all our models, and are seeing fewer restrictions/freezes as a result.”

Coinbase will continue to implement account restrictions imposed by court orders and sanctions to remain compliant with the law, Armstrong and Levi noted.

Despite the progress, much work remains, said Levi, who admitted that as a Coinbase user himself, the experience with account restrictions still doesn’t meet his “own bar.”

I joined @coinbase 9 weeks ago with a vital goal: fixing unnecessary account restrictions.

If you’re on CT, you know how significant this issue has been for users. I myself am a Coinbase user and our restriction experience is not meeting my own bar.

Coinbase users say they’ve been locked out for several months

In response to Armstrong’s post, one X user said they have been completely locked out of their Coinbase account for over two years, while another said they abandoned the platform after enduring an eight-month freeze.

Another X user attributed the lengthy account freezes to Coinbase’s customer support team.

“At Coinbase, it is extremely hard to speak to a live customer service person,” they said, adding that it “can take forever to track someone down.”

Coinbase is also planning to strengthen its security measures after illicit actors bribed some of its overseas customer service agents to access government-issued ID photos and home addresses of around 70,000 Coinbase customers last December. The incident was only disclosed in mid-May.

One X user even claimed that a family friend of theirs lost Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) in a scam that they believe was linked to the recent Coinbase data breach.

Coinbase remains one of the world’s largest crypto exchanges, with over 100 million users and is the largest custodian of the spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds.

TON Blockchain Back Online After Fixing Masterchain Issue

by admin June 1, 2025

The Open Network (TON), the blockchain closely tied to Telegram, briefly went offline on June 1. The issue was linked to a problem in how the main chain processed its data queue.

According to TON’s developers, block production was paused for a short time before the team pushed a fix. The network was back up within 40 minutes.

The developers said only a few main validators needed updates to get things moving again. They also confirmed that no funds were lost and all transactions made during the outage remained safe.

Block production has been restored ✅

A quick fix was released, and updating only a few master chain validators was sufficient to resume block production.

The incident was related to an error in the processing of the masterchain dispatch queue.

We will release a technical…

— TON 💎 (@ton_blockchain) June 1, 2025

A detailed technical report will be released soon to explain exactly what caused the problem.

Although brief outages are not unusual for fast-growing blockchain networks handling large amounts of data, they can still worry users. In this case, TON’s quick response helped limit the impact.

With Telegram relying more heavily on TON for its crypto plans, the network’s ability to stay stable will be under increasing pressure. For now, it’s back to normal — but questions about long-term reliability are likely to follow.

Biostar updates AM5 motherboard BIOS

ASRock confirms its BIOS settings are killing Ryzen CPUs, is fully committed to fixing any damaged motherboards

by admin May 29, 2025

ASRock confirmed that it is responsible Ryzen 9000 failures plaguing ASRock motherboard owners. In a discussion between Gamers Nexus and ASRock’s VP of motherboards, Chris Lee, the company confirmed its latest BIOS revision, 3.25, alters certain PBO settings to stop Ryzen 9000 chips from failing.

A few days ago, YouTuber Tech Yes City revealed that ASRock had allegedly solved its Ryzen 9000 problem. The issue surrounded three power and voltage-related functions, Electric Design Current (EDC) and Thermal Design Current (TDC) in Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO), and shadow voltages which were set too high in older ASRock firmware. ASRock has since provided BIOS version 3.25 to its armada of AM5 motherboards with re-tuned EDC, TDC, and shadow voltage settings to rectify the issue.

ASRock confirmed to Gamers Nexus that it is solely responsible, and AMD’s chips aren’t causing problems. ASRock also stated it will cover shipping costs both ways if users RMA their motherboards. However, it notes that it has not seen a single damaged motherboard in this whole ordeal.

If customers RMA their motherboard with the faulty CPU, ASRock will automatically send the CPU back to the retailer from which the customer bought it. ASRock is not recommending users RMA this way; rather, this was to clarify what happens if this scenario occurs (particularly for less tech-savvy focused customers).

ASRock also recommends that users check if BIOS version 3.25 is installed on brand-new AM5 ASRock motherboards and not to assume it is already preloaded from the factory. ASRock also apologized for not being as transparent with customers about the problem as it could be.

This is the second time ASRock has had to provide BIOS updates to fix its “Ryzen 9000 death” problem. The first time, ASRock pinned the Ryzen 9000 failures on memory compatibility issues and claimed initially that the problem was fixed with a new BIOS update that rectified the memory compatibility issues. Only time will tell if ASRock’s second attempt will be successful.

Evidence has already emerged that ASRock has not fully resolved this issue. At least two Reddit reports online claim that their Ryzen 7 9800X3Ds died with the 3.25 BIOS update.
