4 years after launch, card-based brawler Fights in Tight Spaces gets an expansion that adds a canine companion and an ‘all new assistant system’

by admin September 27, 2025

It’s been four years since Fights in Tight Spaces grabbed turn-based tactics by the collar and beat it about the head with a stack of collectible cards, so the fact that it’s getting an expansion this far out was a surprise in and of itself. That this DLC primarily adds a dog to help you batter baddies in cramped conditions is, if anything, a pleasant bonus.

For the uninitiated, Fights in Tight Spaces takes the tactical layer of games like X-COM and replaces the aliens with a heavy dose of John Wick. Playing as suave silhouette Agent 11, each level places you in an isometric, turn-based action scenario filled with monochromatic goons, then deals you a handful of martial-arts themed playing cards. You need to play the cards to take out your opponents in the most efficient way possible. It’s a straightforward premise, but one sleekly presented and with more depth than you might expect.

The DLC, named K9 Division, adds a helpful hound into the game’s card-based brawls. According to developer Ground Shatter, this involves more than just an extra character to play with. While Agent K can fight on their own terms using an array of dog specific moves such as biting enemies, intimidating them by barking, or distracting them to give Agent 11 more breathing room, the DLC also layers in an “all-new assistant system” that allows both agents to team-up for flashy combinations.

You can experiment with this system via not one but two canine starter decks, each offering a slightly different hound-assisted fighting style through a total of 50 new cards. The DLC also brings a “remixed story mode” letting you experience the game afresh with Agent K’s assistance, as well as new enemies for you to batter/bite. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, yes, there is a card for petting the dog.

If you’re wondering why Fights in Tight Spaces is getting this DLC four years after launch, it seems K9 Division ports over some of the companion systems seen in Ground Shatter’s sequel Knights in Tight Spaces, which released earlier this year. While a decent follow-up, Knights doesn’t appear to have gone down as well as Fights did. Knights’ ‘Mostly Positive’ Steam reviews claim that it’s a richer experience all-told, but one that takes a while to show its strengths, lacking the more immediate appeal of its predecessor.

In any case, Fights in Tight Spaces: K9 Division is available now, with an RRP of $10 (£8.50) Ground Shatter is currently running a 10% launch discount, bringing that price down to $9 (£7.65) until October 2.

The Stars of ‘Gachiakuta’ Say the Anime Is More Than Just Its Fights

by admin September 25, 2025

Gachiakuta is a new shonen anime series that expands the phrase “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” into a full-blown revenge saga. Animated by Studio Bones, known for its work on My Hero Academia, its story follows Rudo, a boy cast into the Pit, a literal abyss at the edge of an apartheid world, after being falsely accused and exiled from the floating city of Spherite.

From there, the thrust of the show sees Rudo join up with a group of superpowered misfits known as the Cleaners, who wield treasured items with personal meaning as weapons as he claws his way back to the surface world to exact his vengeance.

As the anime wraps its first cour and gears up for the second half of its 24-episode season, io9 spoke with voice actors Bryson Baugus (Rudo) and Christopher Wehkamp (Enjin) about stepping into the booth to portray a fresh take on the classic shonen mentor-student dynamic, and what it means to bring these characters to life in a series that turns trash TV into something trancendent.

This interview has been edited for brevity.

Isaiah Colbert, io9: Fans are already calling Gachiakuta the next big thing in shonen. What do you think gives it that special spark that sets it apart from classic and contemporary action anime that came before it?

Bryson Baugus: Very much the art style of [Gachiakuta] is key—the first thing that you notice about it. Nothing out there right now looks quite like Gachiakuta does. The character designs are so unique, the fashion is there, [and] the graffiti art is wonderful. With the anime, the music is crazy good. All you really need to do to get people to check something out is to have that eye catch. And once they get in there, they see these characters interacting with each other. They see the relationships that are building, the world’s mysteries, and it really hooks the viewers.

What makes this stand out as opposed to a handful of other shonen that I’ve seen in the past is that it really likes to take its time in establishing these characters, their relationships, and this world-building, as opposed to jumping from fight to fight to fight to fight.

Christopher Wehkamp: I agree with all of that. The only thing I would add to it is just that once you get past that eye catch and you start checking [Gachiakuta] out, the power system in this story is really interesting. It gives you something to think about yourself, and it gives you something to kind of ponder on—the way that the power system seems to really indicate the backstories and the key moments of these characters.

Even just seeing a new character and then seeing what their “jinki” is gets your mind going on “What does that mean for them? Where did that come from?” and “How does that tie into what I’m seeing with this character?” That’s a really cool recurring theme. Once you get in the door, there’s a lot to dig into here. It does have good fights too—every shonen needs to have good fights—but like Bryson said, there’s a lot more to it there.

io9: We talked about Gachiakuta’s world being unique. I ascertained it being like a chaotic blend of Mad Max‘s grit with a graffiti punk Borderlands flair to it. Plus, there’s some trash kaiju monsters thrown into the mix. Do you have any voice acting rituals or mental prep you use to tap into that energy before stepping into the booth?

Baugus: I just generally try to stay hydrated. Rudo has a bit of a raspy kind of grittiness to his voice that I don’t typically do in a lot of other characters, so I try to make sure that I’ve got some warm tea, and then I just go into it. I just jump into the deep end as soon as I’m there to record.

Wehkamp: I developed a ritual back in 2018 or so. I had a particularly busy season where I was voicing something like seven different characters in seven different shows. Not all of them were big characters, but they were all kind of starting to blend together in my mind. I would go into the studio and depending on what I had that day, I started associating different characters with different musical genres or artists. And so I would make a little playlist and I would listen to songs on my way in.

Now, anytime I have a recurring character, whether it’s an anime, video game, or whatever it happens to be, I’ll associate some kind of music with it. If I get to drive into the studio to do it, I will just put that on, and that helps to get me in the mindset that I’ve associated with the character. That way, when I’m walking into the both, I’m already there. I’m in the zone for that wolrld for that character. It doesn’t always work when I’m recording from home. I have to sit in the booth and turn on Spotify for a little bit that’ll get me there too. I don’t do this all the time, but it helps with characters that I know I’m gonna be coming back to as I associate it with music in my mind.

io9: What’s a song that you play to get into the mood for Enjin?

Wehkamp: I have what I call a roots rock playlist, and so it’s not necessarily any one band. I like the fact that when I put in a playlist versus a band, it’s gonna throw songs at me that I’ve maybe never heard from artist I’ve never heard. In a way, that actually creates the association in my mind even better. It’s less about the band and the actual song; it’s more about the vibe. I couldn’t even tell you one off the top of my head right now, honestly, I just put on a playlist. It’s a lot like five-string bass, blues progressions, really deep-throated, dirty rock, so that really seems to be the vibe for me. I really like your Mad Max comparison, too! I’m a huge Mad Max fan, and that’s a great comparison.

io9: Shonen heroes often feel like they carry the weight of the world on their shoulders as they venture off into an adventure. Rudo’s, however, is one steeped in a Greek tragedy vengeance tale. How did you approach voicing a character constantly balancing between rage, grief, and hope?

Baugus: I try to think about where he sits at his core. I feel like he does have that anger to him, and I feel like he definitely has those moments where he lets it overtake him, for sure. But at his core, he’s still just a very misunderstood kid who’s trying to find his people out there. He’s been rejected his whole life. He’s had Regto as a father figure, [but] that’s about all he’s had. He had Chiwa when he was up in the Sphere as a good friend that he grew up with, but when things happen and he no longer has Chiwa around anymore, he’s on the ground looking to recapture a lot of those relationships—trying to find that family he never really had.

And so, I come at him from a vulnerability as opposed to lashing out in anger at everything. He has those moments, but I feel like his default state is a little bit more introspective. He’s thinking to himself about what’s going on, and he’s taking in what’s happening around him. I think he’s learning from everyone around him how to handle certain situations that he’s never encountered before, or how to better handle situations than he used to.

io9: Enjin joins a long line of shonen anime mentor-type characters. If you could describe Enjin’s philosophy in a few words—something he’d pass on to Rudo as sage advice—what would it be?

Wehkamp: I think right away he’s drawn to what he perceives as Rudo’s potential. I could think maybe there’s something in there beyond, “He would be a great fit for the Cleaners,” or “He could sure kill a lot of trash beasts.” There seems to be more that he recognizes as valuable in that. For me, I think he’s going to end up being the reason why Rudo is able to acclimate and find a place for himself on the Ground. Where that goes from there, obviously, we don’t know, but I’m so interested in finding out.

I do think that the Cleaners, as an organization, seem to be really hyper-focused on hunting down trash beasts. But there’s so much more to being a giver than just using these things to kill beasts. Potentially, there could be a whole lot more to do in this world for these guys.
There’s still so little we know and so I’m very excited to see how this all comes to fruition. Within these first 11 episodes, [Bones has] given us so many little tantalizing clues about where it could be headed, so I can’t wait to find out.

io9: If you lived in the world of Gachiakuta and had a giver power, what personal item of yours would be your vital instrument, and what ability would it give you?

Baugus: I have a little old copy of a Game Boy Advance game for Mega Man Battle Network 2 that the label has been completely peeled off after years of being through hell and back. I put a little Sharpie with the name on it and everything. I’d probably treasure that, and that would turn into something like a like a catch-all game card that lets me say, “I want to play this right now,” and it becomes that game. I think that’d be cool.

Wehkamp: I was a drummer in bands all the way through my 20s, so that was a a big part of my life before I ever started doing VO work. I still have my drumsticks that I started cutting my teeth on back when I was 14 or 15 years old. They’re beat up, destroyed. But I would love to be able to pull those out anywhere I am, and a ghostly drum set will appear, and I could start jamming anywhere. And also it’s full volume to me, but nobody else can hear it, so I don’t have to bother anybody at the sandwich shop. I think that would confuse a lot of people around me to see that, but I would love it; that’d be great.

New episodes of Gachiakuta air every Sunday on Crunchyroll.

Krafton files new papers as it fights to convince the court to compel a forensic examination of former Unknown Worlds’ founders’ devices

by admin September 25, 2025

Krafton has filed two further legal documents after the founders and former leadership team of Subnautica 2 developer Unknown Worlds successfully blocked Krafton’s request for a court-ordered protective order to force the founders to turn over their devices for a forensic inspection.

New court papers sent to GamesIndustry.biz show that following the hearing on September 12, Krafton filed a combined motion seeking relief and opposition to the founders’ motion to compel. The company also shared an affidavit from the MD of Alvarez & Marsal’s Forensic Technology Services practice who was retained by Krafton to “identify, collect, and analyze electronically stored information (ESI) and perform forensic analysis in connection with the case.”

Details of the legal complaint against Krafton, Inc. by the former leadership of Subnautica 2 developer Unknown Worlds became public in July. The complaint concerns a $250 million bonus payout tied to revenue targets for the 2025 Early Access release of Subnautica 2, which the former shareholders of Unknown Worlds Entertainment, represented by Fortis Advisors LLC, allege owners Krafton, Inc. sought to avoid paying out by delaying the game using “pressure tactics.”

In its defense, Krafton accused the three former leaders of then threatening to self-publish Subnautica 2, “releasing it without Krafton’s backing, marketing, promotion, or distribution.” This, Krafton claims, left it with “no choice but to terminate their employment,” along with allegations that Max McGuire, Ted Gill, and Charlie Cleveland downloaded tens of thousands of “company files” and emails in the lead up to these terminations. The founders strenuously deny this, and claim the publisher “chang[ed] its story mid-litigation about why it fired the founders and seized control over Unknown Worlds.”

Now, the affidavit from A&M said it “observed numerous downloads within a short period of time occurring in June and July 2025,” indicative of a “mass download of complete folders and their contents from Google Drive.”

However, in its most recent filing, the founders’ deny wrongdoing, claiming they had an “absolute right” to “copy” the files as directors of the company.

In these latest papers, Krafton also stressed it “even offered to extend the earnout period if the Key Employees would come back to work. The Key Employees refused, threatened to self-publish Subnautica 2, and – anticipating their termination – stole hundreds of thousands of Unknown Worlds and Krafton confidential documents before they were fired, presumably in furtherance of their plan to unilaterally self-publish Subnautica 2 and capitalize on the earnout.”

In a statement to GamesIndustry.biz, a Krafton spokesperson said: “Krafton’s latest filings continue to highlight the former executives’ misconduct. Despite offering to extend the former executives’ earnout period if they returned to their positions, the former leaders refused to return to work, threatened to prematurely self-publish Subnautica 2, and stole hundreds of thousands of Unknown Worlds and Krafton confidential documents on their way out the door.

“Krafton will continue to present the evidence showing how the former executives violated their obligations and misused company resources, as the legal proceedings move forward. As Krafton has continued to make clear, at the heart of every decision Krafton makes are the fans, who deserve the best possible experience. Through this process, Krafton remains focused on what matters: delivering the best possible game to Subnautica’s fans.”

Crypto Market Prediction: Bitcoin (BTC) Fights for $113,000, XRP $2.96 Last Chance, Shiba Inu (SHIB) Still Holds $0.0000122 Hope

by admin September 25, 2025

  • XRP: Another important test
  • Shiba Inu’s troublesome move

In an effort to level off following recent downward pressure, Bitcoin is presently trading around $113,000. Although the 200-day exponential moving average (EMA), a crucial longer-term support, has been held above by the digital asset, upward momentum is obviously having trouble.

Around $114,000, where concentrated selling liquidity has accumulated, Bitcoin faces a strong ceiling on the daily chart. This region has frequently served as resistance and still affects the likelihood of a quick recovery. There is little chance of a long-term recovery unless Bitcoin can clearly break above this level.

BTC/USDT Chart by TradingView

This hesitation is also reflected in volume data. Trading activity has been decreasing recently, indicating that neither bulls nor bears are fully committing. A limited trading environment, where liquidity clusters more often determine direction than momentum, is produced by this lack of conviction. The upward path is blocked unless there is a significant increase in buying pressure, as the majority of sellers are stacked around $114,000.

With its neutral position, the relative strength index is open to movement in either direction. But it is impossible to overlook the downside risk, given the numerous rejections around $114,000. If Bitcoin is unable to maintain its position above $111,500, the 200-day EMA and previous accumulation levels are in line with the next strong support, which is located around $106,000.

Bitcoin is in a decisive zone right now. Continued failure at this resistance makes the case for another retest of lower supports stronger, but a clear push through $114,000 would pave the way toward $118,000 and possibly higher. Since the $114,000 mark continues to be the dividing line between a brief recovery and prolonged consolidation, traders are keeping a careful eye on liquidity dynamics.

XRP: Another important test

At $2.96, just below the psychological $3 threshold, XRP is once again up against a crucial test. Due to its inability to sustain momentum following its last rally attempt, the asset has been under selling pressure in recent sessions. Given the alignment of sentiment and technical factors, this zone might be XRP’s final opportunity to make a significant breakout.

Chart-wise, XRP is resting on important moving averages and pushing against descending resistance. At the moment, the most important threshold is the 100-day exponential moving average (EMA), which is serving as support. The price may provide the required foundation for a reversal and a fresh attempt at $3 and higher if it stays above this level. The bearish structure would be nullified by a clear break above $3, paving the way to a more robust recovery.

XRP/USDT Chart by TradingView

However, if this support is not defended, deeper levels around $2.60 and perhaps $2.40 may be retested. By doing so, XRP’s consolidation would continue, and any possible bullish reversal would be postponed, giving sellers strong momentum.

There is a lack of a clear bullish surge in trading volume, which indicates market hesitancy. Because the RSI readings are still neutral, there is potential for both upward and downward movements in the days ahead, contingent on liquidity inflows.

In other words, XRP is at a critical juncture. The final opportunity to turn sentiment bullish in the near term is in the $2.96-$3.00 range. XRP may try to form a stronger base and make a breakout if the 100 EMA keeps serving as support. If it falters, however, the likelihood of a decline increases, keeping XRP trapped in its larger downward trend.

Shiba Inu’s troublesome move

Shiba Inu is presently struggling to hold onto its position around the $0.0000122 level, a price range that has grown to be crucial for both traders and long-term holders. Up until now, SHIB has maintained this crucial support in spite of recent volatility and an attempt to break out from its symmetrical triangle structure, indicating that stability and perhaps a recovery are still possible in the near future.

According to technical analysis, the $0.0000122 zone serves as a structural and psychological support level. Consolidation above this region could provide SHIB with a foundation for a recovery toward resistance levels at $0.0000130 and ultimately $0.0000140. It would be possible to retest the upper boundary of the larger triangle, which has been capping SHIB’s price for several months, if these levels were to be broken. But failing to maintain $0.0000122 would probably encourage more downward pressure.

In the past, liquidity has offered short-term respite at $0.0000115 and even $0.0000105, where bears may try to pull the price back. Because the RSI is currently in neutral territory and neither extremely overbought nor oversold, either side of the market can establish dominance. Investors continue to need to exercise caution and patience.

This year has already seen several unsuccessful breakout attempts for SHIB, and although speculative interest is still high, momentum is being hampered by the weakness of the overall market. Additionally, the volume profile shows waning activity, indicating a falling level of confidence among bulls and bears.

In other words, there is still hope for a recovery as long as SHIB stays above $0.0000122. However, this level is brittle, and any significant collapse could cause sentiment to turn sharply negative. Prior to making new investments, investors should keep a close eye out for confirmation.

Jake Paul fights Logan Paul’s wedding cake and the internet is baffled

by admin August 19, 2025

Jake Paul left the internet baffled after ‘fighting’ with Logan Paul and Nina Agdal’s wedding cake during their celebrations in Lake Como.

Influencer weddings have, for the longest time, left the internet skeptical. Jake Paul and Tana Mongeau got ‘married’ back in 2019, and charged fans to be able to watch it. The marriage was never legal, but the ceremony obviously had plenty of hijinks involved.

So, when Logan Paul announced that he and Nina Agdal were to get married, the internet raised a collective eyebrow at it. However, the pair did officially get married during a lavish, multi-million dollar celebration on Lake Como, Italy.

Naturally, plenty of content creators were invited, including Logan’s brother Jake. And it was the YouTuber-turned-fighter who stole the show after trading punches with the wedding cake. Seriously.

Jake Paul beats up Logan Paul’s wedding cake

After Logan and Nina tied the not, ‘The Maverick’ invited his brother towards the cake where he proceeded to launch ‘Jake vs Cake’ and a barrage of punches at it.

Logan could be seen hyping Jake up as he delivered the blows, with the pair embracing after the ‘Problem Child’ had thrown enough punches. Yet, the internet wasn’t sold on what had gone on.

“Oh look Jake Paul spent a lot of money to hit something that doesn’t hit back again,” one fan quipped. “Man… wtf ? Bro literally just fights anything,” another joked. “I kinda wanted a slice tho…,” Jake’s video editor even commented.

The moment will, no doubt, appear on Logan’s post-wedding vlog, and the pair might explain why they decided to beat up a helpless piece of confectionery.

We probably wouldn’t count it as a win on Jake’s boxing record, but some would argue that he has fought worse opponents than a literal cake tower.
