Summer Game Fest 2025 Opening Showcase live stream and blog

by admin June 6, 2025

The annual cascade of Summer Game Fest broadcasts formally begins tonight with the Opening Showcase at 10pm UK time (11pm CEST/5pm EDT/2pm PDT). We’ll report all of the major announcements from it here, as they happen, while also chatting with you. So grab a tea or a coffee, or something harder if you like, and join us for the show.

Tonight’s Opening Showcase is expected to be a long one with a projected runtime of around two hours. It’ll be hosted by Geoff Keighley, as ever, although he’ll be joined this year by friend-of-Eurogamer Lucy James, which is nice. You’ll know her from GameSpot.

Keighley has kept a tight lid on announcements for tonight, although a couple of promo reels for the show have included footage from Death Stranding 2, new James Bond game 007: First Light, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, and a bunch of other games I don’t immediately recognise. There’s also been an uptick in Resident Evil 9 speculation ahead of the show, suggesting a possible unveiling tonight. Wouldn’t that be nice?

What’ve you got, Geoff, what’ve you got.Watch on YouTube

This week’s gaming festivities were kicked off on Wednesday by a PlayStation State of Play broadcast, which unveiled 007: First Light to the world, resurrected Capcom’s lost-in-development Pragmata, debuted Silent Hill F, revealed a new Lumines game, and more.

Tonight’s Opening Showcase will be followed directly by Day of the Devs, and then by a packed weekend of broadcasts including an Xbox Showcase on Sunday at 6pm UK time. I’ll return to live-report that show. We’ve compiled a full Summer Games Fest 2025 schedule elsewhere on the site.

Join us shortly before 10pm UK time for the show. In the meantime, speculate away – what would you like to see?

Let’s hope so! I can only imagine the comments if this does actually ever happen.

Good afternoon! Here we go, then. This is the big one. There should at least be an announcement or two in here to get excited about. Ian Higton just made a good point while asking what the rooster or chicken was about in the headline image, to which I said “I don’t know” because I didn’t put it there – the Summer Games Fest Twitter/X account did. Could it be a nod to Fable 4?

How to watch Sony’s PlayStation State of Play at Summer Game Fest

by admin June 4, 2025

Summer Game Fest week just got even busier. Sony is throwing its own party on Wednesday, June 4 at 5PM ET in the form of a State of Play. The stream will showcase “must-play” PS5 games from developers based around the world and you can watch it on on YouTube or Twitch. To make things even easier, you can watch it right here by clicking the big red button above when the time is right. (English subtitled and Japanese versions of the State of Play will be available too.)

The State of Play will run for over 40 minutes, so there should be a bunch of games included. Sony hasn’t given any hints as to what it will show off as yet, but it’ll surely be worth checking out the stream. Wednesday’s event will be Sony’s third State of Play of the year. The first was in February, which included the reveal of the very tasty-sounding Soros from Returnal studio Housemarque, a PS5 remaster of Days Gone and a release date for Borderlands 4. In April, the company hosted a brief State of Play entirely focused on Borderlands 4 where it showed off gameplay and some new multiplayer mechanics.

With this State of Play, Sony is padding out a packed SGF schedule that includes what is routinely Xbox’s biggest showcase of the year on Sunday, June 8. And then there’s also the little matter of the Nintendo Switch 2’s arrival on June 5. It’s shaping up to be a fun, if very busy, week.

Summer Game Fest releases hype trailer ahead of weekend of reveals

by admin June 3, 2025

A new trailer has been released for Summer Game Fest ahead of the event this Friday. This montage of big releases – some already playable, others highly anticipated – is clearly a tone setter for the annual gaming showcase, set to kick off a weekend of new trailers and reveals.

Some notable titles featured in this sizzle reel include Death Stranding 2, Dune Awakening, Sonic Racing: Crossworlds, and Mafia: The Old Country. Marathon will also be making an appearance too, its first since an art plagiarism scandal reportedly left morale at Bungie in “free fall”.

As for representation from games you can just go out and buy right now, you’ve got titles like Doom: The Dark Ages, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. It’s unclear as of yet what sort of presence these games will have at the show, but one can assume smaller updates, post-launch content, and so on.

Summer Game Fest: Geoff’s Hype TrailerWatch on YouTube

Indeed many of the games briefly shown off in this new trailer will likely be making some manner of appearance at the show. We know of course that Death Stranding 2 is getting its own premiere separate from the main Summer Game Fest stage on June 8, and thanks to a recent Twitter post by Summer Game Fest founder and host Geoff Keighley we know 2K will be there, hopefully with Mafia in hand.

Of course that same tweet does point towards other big studios that surely will be dropping something exciting during the weekend. Studios like Bandai Namco, Capcom, Digital Extremes, Embark and far more have logos proudly spread across official Summer Game Fest material.

So, it’s safe to say it’ll be a must-watch for those keen to find out what these developers have been cooking up. You can find out when and where to watch all the different streams that make up Summer Game Fest here. That is, if you don’t mind a few late nights.

How to watch the IOI Showcase at Summer Games Fest 2025

by admin June 2, 2025

Game developer and publisher IO Interactive is participating in Summer Games Fest 2025 with its own showcase. The presentation will take place on Friday, June 6 at 9PM ET/6PM PT. You can watch the IOI Showcase live on multiple platforms: Twitch, YouTube and TikTok. We’ve also got the YouYube stream embedded above, so that you can watch here while keeping up with our coverage of all the other developments happening during this year’s packed Summer Games Fest lineup.

IO Interactive parlayed its work on the excellent Hitman trilogy into a gig making a new James Bond game. Today, the company teased the title, 007 First Light, and it seems like there will be a game reveal during the showcase on Friday. The presentation will also introduce new content for the studio’s Hitman World of Assassination and as well as a game called MindsEye from its publishing branch. “We’ve prepared some truly exciting surprises” for the event, IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak said, so there will probably be additional announcements beyond those three titles.

How to watch the Xbox Games Showcase at Summer Game Fest 2025

by admin June 2, 2025

Summer Game Fest 2025 kicks off on June 6, and if there’s one event from the weekend that everyone’s sure to be talking about, it’s the Xbox Games Showcase. The livestream is scheduled for Sunday, June 8 at 1:00PM ET (10:00AM PT), and you can tune into it on the Xbox YouTube channel or Twitch, where ASL interpretation will be provided. Immediately after the Xbox showcase, there will be a separate presentation dedicated entirely to The Outer Worlds 2. You can watch both the Xbox Games Showcase and The Outer Worlds 2 Direct using the embedded stream below when it goes live.

Last year’s showcase brought us news about the upcoming Fable reboot (since delayed until 2026), the next entry in the Gears of War series, Gears of War: E-Day, the recently released Doom: The Dark Ages and much more. We may hear some fresh updates about those first two titles on Sunday, and possibly more about others like Everwild, State of Decay 3, Hideo Kojima’s OD and Contraband. And of course, some new titles are likely to make their debut too.

You can catch up here on everything we expect to see at Summer Game Fest 2025, and follow along when the event begins for our on-the-ground coverage.

How to watch the Green Games Showcase at Summer Game Fest 2025

by admin June 2, 2025

This year’s Summer Game Fest will feature a new showcase for games that highlight environmental causes and make direct contributions to real-world sustainability efforts. The Green Games Showcase, led by the not-for-profit PlanetPlay, will be held on Saturday, June 7 at 4:00PM ET (1:00PM PT) and streamed live on YouTube.

PlanetPlay says the event will be “a celebration of game studios that have raised over $100,000 for certified environmental projects around the world.” Those projects so far include Abundant Village, a regenerative garden project in South Africa; the carbon forestry project WithOneSeed in Timor-Leste; The Hongera Clean Cookstove project in Kenya; and The Teeny Tiny Truth, which aims to reduce microplastics in New Zealand’s fresh water systems.

The Green Games Showcase is one of several streams that are set to take place between Summer Game Fest Live on Friday and the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday. Be sure to also check out Day of the Devs, Devolver Direct, Wholesome Direct, the Women-Led Games Showcase, the Latin American Game Showcase and the Southeast Asian Games Showcase. It’ll all wrap up with a Death Stranding 2: On the Beach premiere event, where you can get an early look at the game ahead of its release on June 26.

by admin June 1, 2025

A new month has begun, which means a host of new events is kicking off soon in Pokemon Go. June marks the start of the game’s Delightful Days season, and it’s ushering the new season in with a variety of different activities, including a Jangmo-o Community Day and the annual Pokemon Go Fest celebration.

How to watch Devolver Direct at Summer Game Fest 2025

by admin June 1, 2025

Devolver Digital is devoting its Summer Game Fest stream to a single title. That’s quite the departure for the Austin-based publisher. So, the company must see something special in Ball x Pit: The Kenny Sun Story. Get ready to find out about it on June 6.

Devolver isn’t being shy about its enthusiasm for Ball x Pit. The publisher says it’s a game the team “can’t even put down — hundreds of hours later.” Sounds promising!

So, what do we know about the game and its titular character? Not much. There’s the teaser image above, featuring battle skeletons and other fantasy characters. Also, Devolver called it “a tremendous little game.”

Expect to learn much more about Ball x Pit on June 6 at 8 PM ET. You can tune into Devolver Direct on YouTube and Twitch. (That’s the same broadcast as the Summer Game Fest Live and Day of the Devs livestreams.)
