Lies of P: Overture shadow dropped during Summer Game Fest following new gameplay trailer

by admin June 8, 2025

Lies of P Overture, a DLC expansion for the original game, has just been shadow dropped during Summer Game Fest. This surprise came following a new gameplay trailer that shows off a variety of new bosses and areas to explore and get beaten up in.

Overture, a DLC expansion to the game, offers a lot of new content to tackle as you’d expect, but it also comes with three difficulty options. Overture will hopefully add more good action fun to a game we thought was pretty decent in our review.

There are also two boss battle modes available to players in Overture, accessible from the Hotel Krat Stargazer once players see at least one of the game’s endings.

Watch the Lies of P Overture launch trailer here!Watch on YouTube

In a statement released alongside the trailer, game director Jiwon Choi states: “Lies of P was a historic debut for our team, and it felt fitting to expand the story we’ve crafted in the most noteworthy fashion during Summer Game Fest with a surprise shadow drop on all platforms,”

Choi continues, “This expansion allowed us to complete the first arc of our story, and we hope our community feels the same love and support as they did for the base game. Please stay tuned for what awaits Geppetto’s Puppet.

WIth the release of Overture, NeoWiz is free to work on their next project, which will be a sci-fi survival horror game.

Dying Light: The Beast is releasing 22nd August, revealed at Summer Game Fest

by admin June 8, 2025

Dying Light: The Beast just got its release date revealed at Summer Game Fest. It’ll be launching on the 22nd August on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S\, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.

The release date trailer we saw was packed with new gameplay, a variety of chases and parkour of course! It wouldn’t be a Dying Light without it. In addition we get some story hints about a fella called The Baron.

Watch the Dying Light: The Beast trailer here!Watch on YouTube

Those who pre-order Dying Light: The Beast will get the Hero of Harran bundle, which calls back to the original Dying Light. A nice bonus for long time fans of the series,

Dying Light: The Beast is a sequel / spin-off to Dying Light 2 with the protagonist of the first game making a return, able to mess around with plenty of gameplay improvements added with the second mainline game in the series.

One to keep an eye on for those who like first person action, and gruff main characters who’ll occasionally rage out and beat up on zombies.

Lego Voyagers’ Summer Games Fest 2025 trailer is Lego It Takes Two

by admin June 8, 2025

Light Brick Studio and Annapurna Interactive showed off a new Lego co-op multiplayer game during Summer Game Fest 2025 called Lego Voyagers, and it’s basically a cozy take on Hazelight’s It Takes Two and Split Fiction. Lego Voyagers has you and another player become tiny Lego bricks trying to reach space, working together to solve puzzles and figure out how to navigate a lush Lego brick world. Even climbing a step is tough when you’re just a lil’ brick.

The debut Lego Voyagers trailer showed the blocky duo traveling through jungles, across industrial scrapyards, and down lazy, rambling rivers, piecing together inventive solutions that range from tram cars to rickety-looking rocket ships. Light Brick didn’t say how players will communicate with each other or provide many details about how cooperation will work in-game. However, the studio did say that Lego Voyagers will come with a Friend Pass that, like Split Fiction and It Takes Two, lets a friend join you, even if they don’t own the game. Lego Voyagers will support local, online, and split-screen play.

While Traveler’s Tales maintained a steady stream of Lego games based on popular franchises such as The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars over the last two decades or so, the Lego Company has taken steps to try changing what a Lego game can be recently. The group teamed up with Epic Games on Lego Fortnite, a survival-crafting game inside Fortnite that’s made entirely of Lego bricks, and Guerrilla Games licensed Lego for its Horizon Zero Dawn spinoff, Lego Horizon Adventures, in 2024. Lego Group CEO Niels Christiansen told the Financial Times that Lego is exploring the possibility of creating its own in-house development studio.

“We can definitely say as long as we’re under the Lego brand we can cover experiences for kids of all ages, digital or physical. [Games development in-house] is something we’re building up,” Christiansen said.

Light Brick doesn’t have a Lego Voyagers release date yet, but when it does launch, it’ll be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Mecha Break gets a July 1 release date reveal at Summer Game Fest

by admin June 7, 2025

Mecha Break has just got a release date revealed at Summer Game Fest! It’ll launch on July 1 on Steam and Xbox Series X|S.

This reveal came with a lengthy cinematic trailer in which a whole lot of robot action happened, some sad lad hanging out in a ruined city dropped a dog tag, and then hopped into his own mech to fly about and shoot lasers. It was pretty cool! You can watch the trailer below.

Watch the new Mecha Break trailer here!Watch on YouTube

Mecha Break proved exceptionally popular on Steam when it held an open beta test earlier this year, and it was great fun too. You can play standard PvP matches against an opposing team of mech pilots, or alternatively head into the battle royale Mashmak mode.

Splitgate 2 developer responds after Summer Game Fest controversy

by admin June 7, 2025

Ian Proulx, CEO of Splitgate 2 developer 1047 Games, continued his criticism of modern first-person shooters on social media after explicitly calling out Call of Duty during Summer Game Fest.

During the June 6 showcase, Proulx, appearing on stage alongside host Geoff Keighley to promote Splitgate 2, said he was “tired of playing the same Call of Duty every year,” had spent his youth playing Halo, and his desire to see a third Titanfall game.

Primarily appearing at SGF to promote a free battle royale mode for the sequel, Proulx’s choice of headwear, a hat featuring the slogan ‘Make FPS Great Again’, combined with his comments on Call of Duty, drew criticism from viewers.

Splitgate 2 dev responds after Summer Game Fest

“I’m not here to apologize but I am here to clarify,” Proulx stated in a post on the official Splitgate 2 Twitter/X account, adding, “This is not a political statement, it is quite literally what it says, so take it at face value.”

“The state of multiplayer FPS games is tragically stale. We hope to fix that, whether you want Arena, Battle Royale, Onslaught, or Map Creator,” he continued.

I’m not here to apologize but I am here to clarify. This is not a political statement, it is quite literally what it says, so take it at face value.

— Splitgate 2: live now! (@Splitgate) June 7, 2025

Following Proulx’s comments, numerous responses pointed out that Splitgate 2 features numerous in-game microtransaction options, many being comparable in their contents to Call of Duty.

“So Splitgate 2 stealth drops a Resurgence-style BR for free, which is cool,” YouTuber JGOD said, adding, “But also decide to drop a $140+ bundle that is advertised as 45% off. ‘Make FPS Great Again, though, hahaha.”

“You threw shade at Call of Duty on stage but copied Warzone’s mechanics for your battle royale and dropped an $80 bundle in Splitgate 2,” one response to Proulx’s post stated.

“I don’t think the game is bad at all. I loved the first Splitgate too. I played it and put money into it. I just pointed out the dissing of other FPS games, then bringing those practices to your game,” the same poster added, prompting 1047 Games to respond.

“We think we’ve put a unique spin on the aspects we share with other games. Monetization is always controversial, but it’s also optional. Glad to hear you enjoyed the last game, hope you enjoy this one too.”

What exactly Proulx meant by calling modern FPS games “tragically stale” isn’t clear but, at least as far as microtransactions go, fans of the genre clearly aren’t convinced that Splitgate 2 does enough to distance itself from the competition.

If you missed part of it, all of it, or simply don’t want to scrub through 120 minutes to see if the announcement you were hoping for popped up, here’s every single thing announced at Summer Game Fest 2025 in the order they were revealed. Pray for my tendonitis. Enjoy!

Summer Game Fest kicked off on Friday with a tw0-hour extravaganza, in the old-fashioned E3 style. Host Geoff Keighley brought out tons of game updates, new reveals, and a few surprises — including the long-awaited release date of some of gaming’s white whales. As promised, Summer Game Fest featured games like Mafia: The Old Country, Dying Light: The Beast, and Fortnite — but the surprises were BIG. A new Resident Evil. A new Scott Pilgrim game. And Deadpool VR?

If you couldn’t watch Summer Game Fest 2025 live, here’s a recap of all the game announcements, release dates, trailers, and other highlights from Keighley’s big games showcase.

The next mainline Resident Evil game is a BIG shift for the franchise, and it’s coming in 2026. Resident Evil Requiem sends players back to Raccoon City when launches on Feb. 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

Like A Dragon and Virtua Fighter developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio announced the title of its next game, which was previously teased as Project Century. It’s called Stranger Than Heaven now, and it’s set in the early 20th century.

Scott Pilgrim is back, in video game form, in a new project from Tribute Games, the developer behind beloved beat-’em-up Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Scott Pilgrim EX will be out in 2026.

Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games revealed the release date for its next big adventure: Mina the Hollower will be out Oct. 31.

From publisher Annapurna Interactive comes Lego Voyagers, a new 2-player co-op adventure “that’s all about building spaceships, excitement and friendships.”

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Capcom dropped a new look at next year’s Onimusha sequel, Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

Here’s a new look at Mafia: The Old Country, specifically it’s story. Spoiler alert!

Soulslike Lies of P gets new DLC Overture… today!

Check out the first gameplay footage for Dying Light: The Beast, which arrives Aug. 22 on PS5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

Bandai Namco has a sequel to Code Vein in the works, and this one looks slightly less vampiric.

A sequel to 2020’s action role-playing game Mortal Shell is coming, and it looks metal AF. Mortal Shell 2 is coming in 2026.

Developer Mundfish revealed a sequel to its sci-fi first-person shooter Atomic Heart. Atomic Heart 2 will feature a “living world rich with possibilities and places a heavy emphasis on story, role-playing elements, and player freedom. The story unfolds in an alternate-history world, with events now expanding to a global scale,” the developer says.“

Mundfish ALSO has a separate “MMO RPG shooter” set in the Atomic Heart universe, called The Cube.

One of the more… intense games to show up at Summer Game Fest was Ill, a story-driven survival horror game that promises “intense body horror, grotesque monsters, [and] relentless fear.” Sure looks like it!

Sonic the Hedgehog’s next kart-racing game is getting some cross-world guests, including Ichiban Kasuga from the Like A Dragon series, Joker from Persona 5, and Steve from Minecraft. Sonic Racing CrossWorlds will have crossplay when it launches on Sept. 25.

Nicktoons and the Dice of Destiny

SpongeBob Squarepants is about to get medieval in Nicktoons & The Dice of Destiny, a “universe-spanning mashup that brings iconic Nickelodeon heroes into a world of fantasy-style tropes and real-time RPG action.”

End of Abyss is a new sci-fi action-RPG from Section 9 Interactive. End of Abyss is set to launch in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

She-Hulk and Rocket Raccoon join the roster of Tribute Games’ Marvel superhero-themed beat-’em-up, Marvel Cosmic Invasion.

Here’s a new look at Chrono Odyssey, Kakao Games’ action-packed MMORPG.

Muppets-inspired boxing? Hell yes. One of the cooler looking games at Summer Game Fest finally pays off Geoff Keighley’s love of puppets.

Another cool looking game is Out of Words, a co-op platformer adventure “about the doubt and confusion that comes with communicating first-time love,” according to its creators. Out of Words is coming to PS5, Windows PC via the Epic Games Store, and Xbox Series in 2026.

In this Grounded-scale adventure, you’ll join Captain Awkney in his search for a new home for his people in Infinitesimals from Cubit Studios. It’s coming to PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC via the Epic Game Store in 2026.

Resident Evil 9, Stranger Than Heaven, and more of the key reveals from Summer Game Fest 2025

by admin June 7, 2025

Geoff Keighley’s annual Summer Game Fest showcase had a few big moments, including a major showing from Capcom, some sharp-looking indie games from well-known developers, and a creative tie-in between Hitman and James Bond by IO Interactive.

Find a selection of 10 key SGF 2025 highlights below, including all-new reveals and several worthwhile updates on already-announced games.

End of Abyss

Created by Section 9 Interactive, a Malmö-based studio of developers who worked on the Little Nightmares games, and published by Epic Games itself, this was the horror highlight of SGF. In End of Abyss, a combat technician explores a facility that’s riddled with fleshy monsters, in what looks a little like a twin-stick survival horror shooter.

New pathways will emerge in the game as players become stronger, suggesting something of a Metroidvania structure. This one doesn’t have a specific release date yet beyond 2026, but it’s coming to Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.

Lego Voyagers

This two-player Lego game from the developers of Lego Builders Journey left an impression with a simple but perfect pitch: what if you played as a single Lego brick, and the entire game was built around that notion?

Anyone still craving high-value co-op experiences for couch play after finishing this year’s wonderful Split Fiction should keep this beautiful-looking game on their radar. It’s coming to PC and consoles, including the original Nintendo Switch, and will be playable either locally or online (with only one purchase necessary for the latter).

Mina the Hollower

Mina the Hollower, the long-awaited new game from Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games, got a release date of October 31, 2025 during SGF. This trailer will set off fireworks for anyone familiar with its inspirations: Link’s Awakening and the other Game Boy Color Zelda games, for example, as well as the side-scrolling adventures of the Castlevania series.

Marvel’s Deadpool VR

Rather a lot of licensed games made the cut in this Summer Games Fest (who could’ve predicted that this year’s livestream would offer viewers a real-time strategy game tie-in to Game of Thrones, a TV show that ended on a contentious note in 2019?). Meta’s big reveal at SGF was Deadpool VR, another superhero-themed exclusive coming to Quest 3, following last year’s killer app Batman: Arkham Shadow.

This game stars Neil Patrick Harris as Marvel’s Merc with a Mouth, and comes from ‘Splosion Man developer Twisted Pixel. As ever, Deadpool’s delivered-via-sledgehammer meta humour is something of an acquired taste, yet the recent history of pop culture would suggest it’s never been more popular.

Deadpool VR’s first-person combat and storytelling look authentic to the character, which is either a dream come true or a living nightmare, depending on who you ask. It launches exclusively on Quest 3 and 3S in late 2025.

Ill and Mundfish’s push into publishing

Mundfish, the latest developer to move into publishing, had a big presence in this year’s SGF livestream. That included a colourful-if-muddled trailer for Atomic Heart 2, a follow-up to its 2023 hit FPS.

But perhaps more interesting was the horror-themed FPS Ill, the debut game from studio Team Clout. What could be more frightening than being chased by dozens of decaying bald men, and occasionally, some fetid-looking evil giant babies? This game will launch on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, but it doesn’t have a release date yet.

Scott Pilgrim EX

Considering the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels ended 15 years ago, the longevity of a story about a down-on-his-luck 20-something fighting all his new partner’s exes in sequence continues to amaze. This spiritual sequel to 2010’s acclaimed Ubisoft tie-in Scott Pilgrim Vs The World: The Game sees Scott and six of his pals teaming up to fight three different warring gangs who have taken over Toronto.

Developer Tribute Games (creators of the brilliant Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge) comprises staff who worked on that prior Ubisoft title. Pleasingly for fans, too, series creator Bryan Lee O’Malley is behind the story on this project. With four-player co-op part of the mix, Scott Pilgrim EX launches in 2026.

Casino Royale’s Le Chiffre comes to Hitman: World of Assassination

With IO Interactive’s James Bond game First Light not arriving until 2026, this reveal was a real treat for fans of 007, and a fun stopgap. Actor Mads Mikkelsen joined IO’s Hakan Abrak on-stage in announcing that his Casino Royale villain Le Chiffre has been added to Hitman: World of Assassination’s Paris level as a limited-time Elusive Target. Players have until July 6 to take him out.

Blighted

Guacamelee studio Drinkbox is behind this visually stylish action RPG, which looks like it’ll scratch the itch of anyone who got deep into Hades but wants something with a fresh twist (or co-op) to play. The setting is described as a ‘psychedelic western nightmare’ by the developers, and a ‘blighted’ mechanic alters the difficulty of the game dynamically depending on how afflicted the player is. It’s coming soon to Steam.

Stranger Than Heaven

First unveiled last year as Project Century, this deeper look at the next project by Like A Dragon developer RGG Studio showed off the game’s 1943 (seemingly) period Japanese setting, as well as its combat and other gameplay elements like moral choices (of the Xbox 360 era ‘spare/kill’ variety).

Considering the last trailer was set in 1915, it would appear to suggest the game takes place across multiple decades. It’s exciting to see this studio trying something a little different, even if some of the parts are superficially similar.

Resident Evil Requiem

The reveal of the ninth mainline Resident Evil game closed the livestream with a bang. Requiem is slightly hard to grasp from this first trailer, perhaps by design: the protagonist is an agent called Grace Ashcroft, and we see several glimpses of the ruins of Raccoon City amid the horrors in this teaser.

No doubt Capcom will gradually put the pieces together in the run-up to its February 27, 2026 release date on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. It firmly looks like a stylistic follow-up to the first-person hits Resident Evil 7 and Village. On-stage, it was promised the game will feature “high-stakes cinematic action” as well as survival horror.

The Vibes Of Summer Game Fest 2025 Were Rotten

by admin June 7, 2025

I vividly remember the moment I truly realized Summer Game Fest 2025 was a rotten event and an example of the industry trying to pretend everything is alright.

This Narrative Adventure About Doomed Teenage Dinosaurs Feels Too Real

It was when the trailer for the upcoming third-person generic action game MindsEye started playing. The trailer included a new, slow, somber cover of “Madworld”—a song that was covered already and became infamous for its usage in the original Gears of War marketing campaign. That was when I realized the vibes were off. Everyone was running on fumes. People were desperate. Geoff, the master of throwing big, glitzy game events, was unable this time to distract from the truth: Things aren’t all right in the game industry.

But even before that, this year’s Summer Game Fest was a boring slog. It was a show dominated by the same kinds of games getting announced and showcased over and over and over. There were six trailers for six different Souls-like/Elden Ring-inspired games. A ton of anime action things that blended together. A trailer for a Fortnite Star Wars event. A Deadpool VR game. A Game of Thrones RTS. And a bunch of trailers for things that are already out or about to be released. The two-hour event (YEAH) dragged on and on, with each time a trailer ended the crowd sounded far less enthused about being there.

Sure, we got a fun Resident Evil 9 reveal, and there were a few cool games announced during the show, like a puppet boxing game, and Jurassic World Evolution 3 looks neat. But there was also a segment where a guy walked up in a hat that read “Make FPS Great Again” and yelled about Call of Duty being the same after claiming he just wanted to make another Halo.

Even Hideo Kojima, a guy who can usually bring a really awesome trailer for Geoff’s shows, appeared with little excitement, showed off a two-minute clip of people talking in Death Stranding 2, and left. The only mention of Silksong was a joke about it being absent. It was an empty show that felt lifeless and sad. It’s clear that publishers are chasing trends and only greenlighting and funding games that look like other things that people bought.

Geoff, wearing what appeared to be $750 sneakers, seemed desperate from the jump to convince fans watching at home that the lack of big AAA games wasn’t a bad thing. He dedicated the opening minutes of the show to praising indie games and how awesome they are and how popular they are. In hindsight, this was him setting the stage for his viewers: You aren’t getting Half-Life 3, GTA 6, or anything else like that tonight. Those games take 10 years to make now and come less often than ever before. And whle I do agree indie games are cool and doing awseome stuff, this showcase sucked. Two hours of the same games squeezed between ads is a horrible way to showcase anything. And doing it for this long should be classified as torture.

As summed up recently and perfectly by Luke Plunkett over at Aftermath:

Games—or at least the kind of games this week used to be about—are trapped in the belly of the machine. We love to talk shit about Andrew Wilson, but he isn’t to blame for every terrible decision at EA, because he’s the executive of a publicly-traded company in 2025, and any other person in his line of work would and is doing the same thing. Almost every major industry in the world, whether it’s games or cars or music or energy, is now at the mercy of Wall Street Weirdos, private equity in particular. We’re not looking at a bad time for the video game industry, we’re looking at just bad times.

But hey, Resident Evil 9 looks neat, I guess.
