Vietnam Is The Jungle Military Sim Fans Have Been Waiting For

by admin August 22, 2025

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam was on at least one fan’s Gamescom 2025 bingo card. “Hear me out: ‘Hell let loose Vietnam,’” they wrote on the Hell Let Loose subreddit at the start of 2025. Now that fan has fished their wish, as the game’s announcement trailer delivers the sequel that Battlefield players are still waiting for.

Set during the years of the Vietnam War, between 1965 and 1973, the next Hell Let Loose will be a big departure from the first game’s WWII battlefields in Europe. In addition to the shift to dense jungle terrain, Vietnam will also feature aerial vehicles with players ferrying supplies by helicopter between camps, as well as river patrols by boat. North Vietnamese forces, meanwhile, will have access to sprawling networks of tunnels for bypassing enemy patrols and launching ambushes.

It’s set to come to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC sometime in 2026, with the publisher promising that both the new and existing games will continue to be maintained and updated alongside one another. Here’s the trailer:

Hell Let Loose blew up on Steam when it launched in 2021 despite being borne of a Kickstarter project years earlier by Australian studio Black Matter. Unlike recent battle royale free-for-alls or modern Call of Duty-style deathmatches, Hell Let Loose leans into the military simulation genre with 50v50 battles, in which players designated as officers share commands over priority voice channels and victory requires prioritizing communication and coordination over individual KDA ratio heroics.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam won’t replace the original

The new game will introduce six maps at the start focusing on key moments in the war like Operation Starlite and Operation Piranha. It will also transition the franchise to Unreal Engine 5, hopefully with all of the visual bells-and-whistles that allows and none of the PC performance issues we’ve seen so frequently in other games. But even while this entirely new campaign is being built out across multiple game modes, the developers swear post-launch support for the original Hell Let Loose will continue.

“Our World War Two-based Hell Let Loose is incredibly important to us and our players. We can reassure you all that Team17 remains fully committed to the franchise,” they write in an FAQ. “To bring Hell Let Loose: Vietnam to life, Expression have built a second team in order to support both titles simultaneously. One game will never come at the expense of the other. Our focus remains on growing and improving both experiences for our players.”

Black Matter sold the franchise to Team17 a year after it came out and is currently working on an extraction RPG set in the plague-ravaged Napoleonic era called Hunger, so Hell Let Loose: Vietnam will be developed from the ground up by a completely separate team. We’ll see how the formula fairs and whether the sequel can live up to its premise. If you’re interested in checking out Hell Let Loose for yourself, it’s currently available on Game Pass on both console and PC. The game continues to get new updates with a March road map pointing to additional maps, vehicles, and cosmetics coming in the future.

The cast of Critical Role, campaign four.

Critical Role Explains Shakeup, But Some Fans Aren’t Convinced

by admin August 22, 2025

Earlier this month, the actual play phenomenon Critical Role announced a pretty big shakeup for its upcoming fourth campaign. Matt Mercer, who had led each of the group’s previous stories as the game master, will instead take on a player role, and Dimension 20’s Brennan Lee Mulligan will step up to lead the next campaign in October. Now, we know what campaign four will entail, and it sounds much more complex than anything Critical Role has done before.

In a 17-minute presentation, Mulligan outlined his plans for the campaign, and it sounds pretty ambitious. Rather than being set in Exandria, the world where Critical Role’s first three stories took place, this season will see the players enter a new world. Mulligan is dividing the 13 cast members into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers, with each tackling the new fantasy setting and story from a different angle. As such, not every cast member will be present for each episode as it jumps between different perspectives. The announcement didn’t confirm which cast members would be in each group, but it did solidify that Critical Role‘s founding members will all be returning. The full cast is as follows:

  • Laura Bailey
  • Luis Carazo
  • Robbie Daymond
  • Aabria Iyengar
  • Taliesin Jaffe
  • Ashley Johnson
  • Matthew Mercer
  • Whitney Moore
  • Liam O’Brien
  • Marisha Ray
  • Sam Riegel
  • Alex Ward
  • Travis Willingham

Now that it’s confirmed the founding members will return for campaign four, some of Critical Role’s fans are more optimistic about all the changes on the way, though others are still skeptical about the structure, given that the entire crew won’t be playing together. At least, not at first. It’s entirely possible the story goes in a direction that sees all these disparate groups end up together down the line, which sounds like it would make for a sick finale, but will likely not happen until years from now. The first episode is set to premiere on October 2.

Kanye West Said Memecoins ‘Prey On Fans.’ Then He Apparently Launched One

by admin August 22, 2025

Kanye West, the hip-hop artist who goes by Ye, appears to have launched his own cryptocurrency, YZY, sparking a riot of trading activity.

In February, West rejected the idea that he might launch a crypto coin. “I’M NOT DOING A COIN,” he wrote, in a since-deleted post on X. “COINS PREY ON THE FANS WITH HYPE.” He seems to have changed his mind.

On Wednesday evening, West’s X account announced the YZY coin in two posts. “The official Yeezy token just dropped,” said West, in a strangely deadpan video clip that some X users speculated was AI-generated.

As traders piled in, the coin’s paper value surged to $3 billion, then plummeted by two-thirds in the span of three hours as early investors cashed out. Since the start of trading, investors have placed more than $740 million worth of trades. The majority of traders have recorded losses, collectively losing more than $20 million, says blockchain analytics company Nansen.

Winner of more than 20 Grammy Awards, West has become increasingly unmoored and erratic in his behavior in recent years. Most infamously, West made a series of antisemitic remarks in 2022 that drew widespread condemnation and led Adidas to abandon a lucrative partnership with his design label. In May, he released a music video entitled “Heil Hitler.”

The YZY coin is supposedly part of a grander constellation of products called YZY Money, which also purports to include a crypto payments service and debit card. “YZY Money is a concept to put you in control, free from centralized authority,” the website claims.

According to the website, 20 percent of the YZY supply has been released, 10 percent has been pooled on exchanges to allow for smooth trading, while the remaining 70 percent is held by Yeezy Investments LLC. The company cannot gain access to those coins for at least three months, a common practice meant to prevent issuers from dumping their holdings and sinking the price of a coin.

It is unclear who controls Yeezy Investments, which is registered in Delaware and therefore not required to disclose its ownership structure. Yeezy Investments operates the YZY Money website under a licence granted by Ox Paha Inc., a company through which West manages his intellectual property, the terms and conditions state.

Typically, rookie crypto traders are warned away from coins whose supply is concentrated in the hands of a small number of parties, for fear they might sell off their holdings en masse, driving down the price of the coin.

“You have to consider longer down the line,” says Nicolai Søndergaard, research analyst at Nansen. “Let’s say all tokens unlock in two years, you might not want to be in a token at that point. You could fairly assume there would be a sell-off.”

Patterns in the trading activity in the minutes after the YZY coin announcement have led to further questions about the integrity of the launch.

Monster Hunter Wilds Tells Fans To Wait Until Winter For Fixes

by admin August 19, 2025

Monster Hunter Wilds latest update has given players plenty of new things to do, from grinding for new talismans to trying not to die to the new 9-star boss fights. But players on PC are still struggling with poor performance optimization, and Capcom now says no major fixes will be ready until the winter.

“To our hunters playing Monster Hunter Wilds on PC, we’re committed to listening to your feedback and improving both performance and stability of the game,” an update posted on X on August 18 reads. “Although we will continue to implement gradual improvements in the weeks ahead, we are targeting Free Title Update 4 this winter to implement a multifaceted plan, including CPU and GPU related optimizations, followed by a second stage of mitigation measures afterwards. We’ll share more information on the specifics in the future.”

The response from fans so far has been less than stellar. “It’s not normal to wait one year to get at least a small optimization for PC players,” wrote one. “We are paying for stability and performance as the same time free updates. I have a war machine and i have to play everything on LOW hoping it’s going well.” Another posted, “Love MHWilds I really do, but waiting almost a year for the game to run at least a little better is a bit crazy.”

Similar sentiments have been echoed across the game’s subreddit and recent Steam reviews where Monster Hunter Wilds still sits at just 25 percent, up from an all-time low earlier in the summer, but still far from where the overwhelmingly positive ratings other recent entries in the series sit. While not everyone’s facing issues, people on a range of machines are still reporting crashes, ugly textures, and unstable framerates even at 30fps.

There’s currently a new Title Update 3 scheduled for September to add a new monster and more balance adjustments to combat and progression, followed by Title Update 4 in the winter. There’s also the game’s first expansion, which new Monster Hunter entries tend to get 12-18 months after they ship. It’ll be a make-or-break moment for the players on PC who feel like the last six months have been closer to an Early Access experience.

Marvel Rivals devs approved to make “original” heroes & fans are fuming

by admin August 19, 2025

Marvel Rivals’ creative director has just revealed that the game has permission to add new original characters in the roster. This news hasn’t immediately gone down well with the community.

The Marvel Rivals roster is always expanding, as developers continue to incorporate new characters from the franchise’s comics and movies into every season.

While characters added to the game have so far been mostly icons that a lot of players grew up seeing in other media, we’ve also seen the game not shying away from introducing more obscure characters, such as Luna Snow and Jeff the Land Shark.

As it now turns out, according to an interview with MP1st, NetEase has essentially been given permission to develop “original characters” for the game, so there’s a chance that we’ll be seeing completely new faces joining the roster.

Marvel Rivals could be adding original characters to the roster

netease / marvelPhoenix and Blade are the newest characters added to the game in the current season.

In the interview, MP1st asked Guangguang if NetEase considered adding completely original heroes that may be introduced to the whole Marvel universe later.

Although the developer did not specify the details further, he did give “yes” as an answer. “We are allowed to introduce original characters in Marvel Rivals,” he claimed.

Meanwhile, the game director remained tight-lipped when asked about the development as a follow-up to the question, only saying “stay tuned” for now.

While the thought of being able to try out and play new heroes is exciting, many in the community have said they aren’t too keen on the idea of original characters being added.

A lot of the complaints come mainly from them preferring to play someone that they’re already familiar with in the franchise.

As one user put it in a post on X, “This sucks a lot. I want to play the heroes I grew up with. There are THOUSANDS of them, from A-listers to C-listers. There is no need AT ALL to create new characters when they can just use what we already have.”

“We have SO many characters that people want added, and now we’re fighting for spots with original characters? Oh no,” said another, while a different user stressed that actual Marvel characters should “take priority.”

That said, there was also an argument mentioning that introducing these kinds of characters could help fill the gaps in different roles in-game. Either way, we’ll just have to be patient for the time being and wait to see what the devs are cooking.

Fans Are Afraid Of Conjuring 4’s Spooky Anabelle Popcorn Bucket

by admin August 18, 2025

We are still firmly in the “Gimmick Popcorn Bucket Era” of movie theaters, and it shows no signs of stopping. Usually, these gimmicky popcorn buckets are items that fans want to buy and collect. But it seems like not many people want the creepy bucket for The Conjuring: Last Rites, featuring iconic haunted doll Annabelle. I wonder why.

On August 18, Regal Cinema shared a photo of its popcorn bucket for the upcoming horror film, The Conjuring: Last Rites, the ninth (?!) film in the wildly popular Conjuring series. The movie is being marketed as a sort of ending for this era of the spooky franchise, though it sounds like more Conjuring universe movies will happen in the future. Anyway, as seen in Last Rites’ new trailer, the franchise’s famous haunted doll, Annabelle, is returning for the Conjuring’s finale. And to celebrate, Regal’s new popcorn bucket features the doll herself, connected to a faux-wooden bucket with the movie’s logo slapped on it. The bucket will be available to order on Wednesday, over two weeks before the movie’s release.

In the Conjuring universe, where she has three of her own spin-off movies as well as appearances in the main series, Annabelle is portrayed as scary, dangerous, evil, and just generally not a good doll you want to take home. I wasn’t surprised, then, that a lot of fans online don’t want this cursed piece of plastic in their homes.

“Oh hell no lol,” said one user. “Um, that’s one bucket I don’t want,” said another person. Someone else replied: “Y’all can keep that one.”

“Am I supposed to take this home?” asked someone in a reply to DiscussingFilm‘s tweet about the doll bucket. A diffferent user replied to the same tweet with: “Nah nah nah nah you’re not gonna get me Annabelle, nice try.”

— Cinemark Theatres (@Cinemark) August 18, 2025

Meanwhile, on Monday, Cinemark shared a first look at its own Conjuring 4 popcorn bucket and uh, well, reactions were different. That’s mainly because Cinemark’s gimmick bucket featuring Annabelle makes you eat the popcorn out of her ass. Would Tom Cruise eat popcorn out of Annabelle’s ass? Probably, the dude loves popcorn. But others aren’t as interested. This bucket will be available on Friday, August 22.

The Conjuring: Last Rites, alongside all the fake Annabelle popcorn buckets you desire (or fear), arrives in theaters on September 5.
