Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Season One Coming To Blu-Ray This Fall

Fairy Tail was a massively popular manga and anime series during its original run from the mid-200s through the 2010s, and not long after its saga wrapped up, a new sequel series hit the scene. Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest has been in print since 2018, but it wasn’t until recently that it got an anime adaptation. In case you missed out on it, the good news is that you can preorder the upcoming Blu-ray release ahead of its release for $80 on November 4 through Amazon and CrunchyRoll. This edition of the complete first season also comes inside a stylish steelbook case, featuring the main cast of Fairy Tail on the cover.

If you’re new to the world of Fairy Tail, then you’ll also want to check out the original series. Created and illustrated by Hiro Mashima, the series is set in a magical land of wizards and follows Natsu and his eclectic friends as they take on quests for their guilds and tangled with dark wizards. While the series isn’t groundbreaking and can be slightly derivative, it’s still a consistently fun show thanks to its quirky characters, well-paced action, and emotionally heavy plots that come out of nowhere.

Trump Is Betting Big on Intel. Will the Chips Fall His Way?

The US government is aiming to take an equity stake in Intel in exchange for grants the company was already committed to receive under the Biden era CHIPS Act, according to comments US commerce secretary Howard Lutnick made in an interview with CNBC. The move is part of the government’s efforts to boost US chip manufacturing.

“We should get an equity stake for our money, so we’ll deliver the money which was already committed under the Biden administration,” Lutnick said. “We’ll get equity in return for it.” Previously, the government was discussing taking a 10 percent stake in Intel, according to the New York Times.

The deal could help the venerable chipmaker fund its US-based semiconductor fabrication plants, or fabs, which have required billions of dollars to construct and maintain, even as demand for Intel chips has waned in recent years. Some chip industry experts and members of the Trump administration say that keeping Intel afloat is essential to US national security, because it lessens the country’s reliance on chipmakers overseas.

But analysts and one notable economist say a potential tie-up between Intel and the US government could present a conflict of interest and may not result in the kind of domestic chipmaking industry the administration is angling for.

“It’s not the right policy to have the US government own things, to have privatization in reverse,” says Stephen Moore, a visiting fellow at The Heritage Foundation and a former senior economic adviser to Trump’s 2016 campaign. “That’s similar to Europe’s industrial model, and we haven’t done that often here in the US, because a lot of it ends up failing.”

Government Intervention

The US government has some history of investing in the private sector. Moore cites a 1980s program called the Synthetic Fuels Corporation, a federally directed multibillion-dollar investment in companies producing liquid fuels from coal, oil shale, and tar sands. It was hailed by President Jimmy Carter as “the cornerstone of our energy policy” and had fallen apart by 1986.

Then, in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis, the US government stepped in with multibillion-dollar bailouts to stop US automakers and some banks from going under. Those funds were issued either through the Troubled Asset Relief Program, in which the US Treasury Department bought up or guaranteed toxic assets, or in the form of bridge loans. Many were eventually repaid.

More recently, the Department of Defense agreed to fund a US-based rare-earth magnet company, MP Materials, via equity and loans, in order to expand production and decrease the country’s reliance on China. The deal would in theory give MP Materials the capital to increase its manufacturing capacity from 3,000 to 10,000 metric tons.

Moore says the ideal scenario is that these arrangements between the government and private industry have an end point. “It should be an agreement to own a short-term stake and then divest,” he says.

But the current Trump administration has been taking some of these public-private business dealings a step further: In June, the administration approved a partnership between Japanese steel company Nippon Steel and Pittsburgh-based US Steel, dependent on a national security agreement and a so-called golden share provision. The government insisted that it have a say in US Steel’s company decisions, including board appointees and future relocation plans. (This deal was also designed to help the US compete with China on steel production.)

XRP Rally Brings 94% Holder in Profit, Chart Warns of 20% Fall

XRP, the cryptocurrency launched by Ripple Labs in 2012 to power fast global payments, has surged above $3, sending nearly 94% of its circulating supply into profit, data from blockchain analytics firm Glassnode shows.

The token has gained more than 500% in the past nine months, climbing from under $0.40 to $3.11. XRP is now the fifth-largest cryptocurrency by market value, according to CoinMarketCap.

Such widespread profitability has historically marked overheated conditions. When more than 90% of holders were in profit in early 2018, XRP peaked near $3.30 before losing 95% of its value. The same configuration was seen in April 2021 when the token fell 85% after reaching the peak of $1.95.

Profitability Metrics Signal Warning Signs

One key indicator, Net Unrealized Profit/Loss (NUPL), which tracks the gap between unrealized gains and losses, has now entered the “belief–denial” zone. Analysts note this phase often comes before major tops.

In both 2017 and 2021, XRP reached its highest prices when the NUPL was similar While investors today are heavily in profit, the market has not yet entered the “euphoria” stage, where heavy selling typically begins.

Chart Pattern Shows 20% Downside Risk

On the charts, XRP is consolidating inside a descending triangle pattern, with repeated retests of support near $3.05. An actual breakdown may drive the token to $2.39 by September, a 23% drop.

Nevertheless, in case bulls manage to break above the resistance line, XRP might recover momentum, and some analysts propose targets of up to $3.50.

The next few weeks will determine whether new inflows, which are being spurred by institutional demand and momentum within the broader altcoin market, can soak up possible profit-taking.

Japan Prepares to Approve First Yen-Backed Stablecoins This Fall

Japan’s financial regulator is preparing to give the green light to the country’s first yen-backed stablecoin, a step that could open the door to wider use of digital money while also affecting demand for government debt.

The Financial Services Agency (FSA) is expected to approve the rollout of stablecoins pegged to the yen as early as this fall, according to a report by the Nihon Keizai Shimbun. The first issuer will be JPYC Inc., a Tokyo-based fintech that plans to register as a money transfer business within weeks.

JPYC’s token is designed to hold a fixed value of one yen. It will be backed by readily available assets such as money kept in banks and Japanese government bonds. Once applications are processed, both individuals and companies will be able to purchase the tokens via bank transfer and store them in digital wallets.

The move brings Japan in line with a global stablecoin market that has grown rapidly in recent years. Dollar-backed coins such as Tether’s USDT and Circle’s USDC dominate the $286 billion market, and they are already used in Japan. A yen-based stablecoin would be the country’s first homegrown alternative.

Industry figures say the implications could stretch beyond payments. In a post on social media platform X, Noriyuki Okabe, a representative of JPYC’s issuing company, argued that widespread use of yen-pegged stablecoins could increase demand for Japanese government bonds.

He pointed to the U.S., where leading stablecoin issuers have become major buyers of Treasurys to back their tokens. If JPYC follows the same path, it could emerge as a new source of demand for JGBs.

Okabe also suggested that countries slow to adopt stablecoins risk higher borrowing costs in the long term. Without this new channel of demand, he said, governments may have to rely more heavily on traditional investors to absorb public debt.

For Japan, the launch of JPYC would mark the first time the yen itself has been mirrored in tokenized form at scale. It would also deepen the intersection of digital assets and monetary policy at a moment when global finance is increasingly shaped by stablecoins.

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is off and running, and has produced plenty of talking points and storylines already. Let’s catch you up on what’s happening, what you’ve missed and what’s still to come.

The lead: Sun sets on Sundowns’ impressive CWC showing

Mamelodi Sundowns stunned spectators at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, managing a 0-0 draw against Brazilian giants Fluminense. Despite their best efforts and several moments of dominance on the field, however, the South African team fell just one point short of qualifying to the knockout round of the Club World Cup.

Though their Club World Cup journey came to a close on Wednesday, Mamelodi Sundowns left their mark. They entered the tournament as a mystery to many and overlooked by almost all as Borussia Dortmund and Fluminense dominated the Group F narrative. But once the tournament kicked off, the team immediately made headlines and stole the spotlight on and off the field.

The South African side beat Ulsan HD 1-0 and shook up Borussia Dortmund with a narrow 4-3 defeat before entering the final group stage match of the competition with hopes of making the round of 16. They kicked off the match stronger than their Brazilian opponent and continued to control the ball as the game progressed. By the 55th minute, Sundowns had three shots on goal to the Brazilian team’s zero, while holding 71% possession. At the final whistle, the Sundowns had recorded seven total shots; 554 passes, compared with Fluminense’s 258; and 68% possession. The attack tested Fluminense goalkeeper Fábio, forcing him into game-changing saves in the first half.

In the stands, the team’s supporters were small in numbers but mighty in energy. Though outnumbered and often outsung by Fluminense fans at Hard Rock Stadium, the group of 50 or so Sundowns fans dressed in yellow and green continued to rejoice. The group chanted with accompanying choreography and drumbeat, creating a contagious atmosphere that inspired nearby neutral spectators to join in the signing and dancing. A couple Mamelodi Sundown fans wore decorative headdresses with sequins and feathers, eager to show their support for their team.

The Club World Cup is intended to give teams from around the globe a stage to shine, and Mamelodi Sundowns capitalized on the opportunity by showing international spectators their talent. Dortmund get the job done

There’s a real sense that the top European teams are pacing themselves in this Club World Cup, and rightly so considering the oft-repeated lines about this being their offseason, how tired they are, the heat being ridiculous, and so on. None of the UEFA contingent might embody this more than Borussia Dortmund, who carefully played their way to a sedate 1-0 win over Ulsan HD at Cincinnati’s TQL Stadium — a result that ensures they finish top of Group E. Their reward: extra rest, with their round-of-16 game the final one of the slate on July 1 in Atlanta (a stadium with a roof and air conditioning), and a likely date with River Plate or Monterrey.

Daniel Svensson notched the game’s only goal about 10 minutes before halftime after Ulsan tried (and failed) to play out from their penalty area. The loose ball spilled into Jobe Bellingham’s path inside the box, and he calmly squared it for the Swedish winger to casually fire beyond a wrong-footed Jo Hyeon-woo. Dortmund barely broke a sweat throughout but did pepper the Ulsan goal to the tune of 28 shots (11 on target), forcing a superb performance from Jo (10 saves, preventing 2.01 xG) under the sweltering midafternoon Midwestern heat.

We also got a glimpse of oft-injured and oft-out of favor U.S. playmaker Giovanni Reyna, who enjoyed his first minutes of the Club World Cup in a 12-minute cameo that saw him complete just four passes. (Remember this for trivia purposes should it prove to be, as everyone suspects, his final appearance for the Bundesliga side before yet another summer restart elsewhere.)

Yan Couto, Bellingham and Julien Duranville all caused havoc but couldn’t double Dortmund’s lead, while Ulsan simply couldn’t get the ball in a bid for a face-saving comeback, having less than 30% of the ball in the final quarter-hour amid a raft of late substitutions for both sides. Dortmund will need to be much sharper from here if they’re to make a deep run and collect more of this competition’s prodigious prize purse, especially with a run to the final that could include Manchester City or Real Madrid in the quarterfinals and (perhaps) Paris Saint-Germain in the semis. That said, one will imagine manager Niko Kovac is pleased with the quiet crescendo of his team amid a difficult rebuild. There’s still plenty of work to be done if they’re to truly demonstrate they’re “back” as a force in Europe, but this isn’t a bad start. — James Tyler

Delap’s relief at scoring first Chelsea goal

PHILADELPHIA — Liam Delap needed only three appearances to score his first Chelsea goal but admitted his “relief” at getting off the mark with Benfica up next for the Blues on Saturday in the round of 16.

The £30 million summer signing from Ipswich Town found the net with a smart turn and finish as the Blues beat Espérance Sportive de Tunis in Philadelphia on Tuesday to reach the round of 16. All eyes are on Delap, too, given Nicolas Jackson is suspended against Benfica after picking up a two-game ban for his red card against Flamengo.

Maresca ‘proud’ of Chelsea making it to last 16 of CWC

Enzo Maresca speaks on Chelsea making it to the last 16 of the Club World Cup, as well as how Liam Delap has settled into the Chelsea squad.

Said Delap: “I came in to score goals, and to get the first one over and done with is a great feeling. There’s always a little bit of relief and then you feel more confidence, and coming to a club like this, you have to have confidence and belief.”

Benfica will represent a considerably tougher test, and although it comes early in Delap’s time at Chelsea, it is a task he is relishing.

“That’s why I came to this club, that’s why I started playing football to play on big stages like this, and I’m really excited,” he said. “This tournament has really helped me settle in, because if we were back at the training ground, everyone would be disappearing at 3 o’clock. Here, we’re all together all the time and it’s a great way to settle in. Everyone’s been really helpful.” — James Olley

No break for FC Salzburg

FC Salzburg are within touching distance of a place in the knockout stages and could even qualify from Group H with a defeat against Real Madrid on Friday if the game between Al Hilal and Pachuca fails to produce a winner. However, amid all the noise from the teams in the major European leagues about burnout and lack of rest, Salzburg’s workload would probably send most of the Premier League and LaLiga stars into meltdown.

But while the English, Spanish, French, Italian and German teams at the Club World Cup are set to give their players a break after the tournament, in preparation for the new season in August, Salzburg start their Champions League qualification campaign against Norway’s SK Brann on July 23. And before Thomas Letsch’s team plays the second leg seven days later, they must face Union Procon Dietach in the Austrian Cup on July 26.

In the end, Wydad’s energy and commitment to numbers in attack gave both Man City and Juventus a brief fright, but both teams had the quality and composure to pick through. Expect a similar gusto at Audi Field from them and, perhaps, a few goals: Only Auckland City FC (17) have conceded more than Al Ain (11) in this competition to date. — Tyler

Kylian Mbappé returned to Real Madrid training on Wednesday after a week recovering from gastroenteritis, but he hasn’t traveled to make his tournament debut against Salzburg, staying behind in Palm Beach. In his absence, young forward Gonzalo García has done more than enough — with a goal and assist so far — to continue up front if Mbappé isn’t ready to start.

This game is another opportunity for new coach Xabi Alonso to get closer to the kind of Madrid team he wants to see, after defender Raúl Asencio’s early red card against Pachuca meant Alonso’s tactical gameplan had to be torn up after just seven minutes. New arrival Dean Huijsen has impressed so far, while Trent Alexander-Arnold has made steady progress. Antonio Rüdiger could start alongside them in defense, having come off the bench against Pachuca. And there’ll be eyes on Rodrygo — with speculation over his future this summer — after he didn’t play a single minute in that game in Charlotte.

As for low-profile Salzburg, they’ve put themselves in a decent position, with four points from two games so far. The result here, and in Al Hilal vs. Pachuca, will determine if they progress to the last 16. — Alex Kirkland

Three dead, more than 70 injured in Algeria stadium fall

Three spectators died and more than 70 others were injured after falling from the upper stand of a stadium following MC Alger’s second straight Algerian top-flight title win, the Algerian ministry of health said on Sunday.

“The Beni Messous University Hospital received 38 injured people, while three deaths were recorded,” the Algerian ministry of health said in a statement via Facebook, adding: “Ben Aknoun Hospital also received 27 injured people, while Bab El Oued Hospital received 16.”

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune offered his condolences and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

“It is with great sadness and sorrow and with hearts that we received the news of our supporter Younes Amguzzi, who passed away after falling from the upper stands,” MC Alger said earlier in an Instagram post.

The club has yet to comment on the other fatalities.

Reds’ Elly De La Cruz, M’s Trent Thornton fall ill due to heat

Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz and Seattle Mariners reliever Trent Thornton got sick Saturday while playing in the extreme heat that covered much of the United States.

De La Cruz vomited on the field with two outs in the fourth inning of Cincinnati’s extra-inning loss against the Cardinals in St. Louis. He was checked on by an athletic trainer, and two workers from the grounds crew cleaned up the area.

“I actually watched him. He drank a bunch of water. I mean a bunch,” Reds manager Terry Francona said, “and then he went right out and got rid of it.”

The 23-year-old De La Cruz, who is from the Dominican Republic, stayed in the game and hit a two-run homer in the seventh.

Thornton pitched 2⅓ scoreless innings for Seattle before departing in the eighth as the Mariners lost 10-7 to the Cubs in Chicago. The 31-year-old right-hander had to be helped off the field.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said Thornton had “a little bit of a heat-related illness.”

“It was a scary moment, for sure,” Wilson said. “He battled hard. But just really glad that he’s feeling a little bit better now and should be OK.”

The game-time temperature for the Reds at Cardinals was 92 degrees, and it was 94 for the first pitch of the Mariners’ loss to the Cubs. Milwaukee’s game at Minnesota was played under an excessive heat warning, and the Rockies said the first-pitch temperature of 98 degrees for their game against the Diamondbacks at Coors Field was highest for a major league game this season.

Seattle and Chicago finished their game with three umpires after Chad Whitson got sick. Dexter Kelley moved from second base to home plate.

Whitson was treated in the Mariners’ dugout.

“He came in, same kind of thing. Just was not feeling well,” Wilson said. “Threw up a few times in the dugout, and then they came and took care of him from there. The heat was a real thing today, for sure.”

Whitson was dealing with some dehydration, but a Major League Baseball spokesman said he was doing better Saturday night and had been cleared to work third base for the series finale.

A Wrigley Field staffer had a heat-related medical issue right after Saturday’s game, according to a Cubs spokesman. He was tended to by medical personnel and walked off the field on his own.

The Cubs set up cooling and misting stations throughout Wrigley Field to help fans with the heat Saturday, along with additional emergency personnel. The team had similar plans in place for Sunday, along with bringing in a city bus to use as a cooling station on the street.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a critically acclaimed anime adaptation of Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe’s manga. The fantasy series follows the titular elf mage Frieren as she sets off on a long journey to find the resting place of souls so that she can reunite with her former comrade Himmel, who led the party to slay the Demon King decades ago. As an elf, Frieren is blessed–or cursed–with an absurdly long lifespan, and she experiences time differently from her human companions. The show earned high praise from audiences and critics for its nuanced characters, gorgeous animation, and detailed fantasy world-building.

While these Blu-ray releases will catch up on the anime’s run so far, they’re not the entire story, and the show’s second season is scheduled to debut in January 2026. However, if you can’t wait that long, you can read ahead with the original Frieren manga. Volumes 1-13 have been localized to English and are available now, while Volume 14 is available to preorder at Amazon.

Bitcoin price could fall under $100k, options data suggests

Bitcoin price has retreated in the past few days, and the futures market points to more downside, potentially to $100,000.

Bitcoin (BTC) dropped to $104,650 on Wednesday, June 18, marking a 6.52% decline from its highest level this year. Option traders are increasingly betting on further declines. Data from Deribit shows that the put-to-call volume ratio rose to 2.17, indicating that more traders are buying put options as a hedge.

A put option gives investors the right, but not the obligation, to sell an asset at a specific price within a defined time period. In this case, for contracts expiring on Friday, open interest in put options is concentrated at the $100,000 strike.

Investors remain cautious amid the escalating crisis in the Middle East. In a statement on Tuesday, Donald Trump suggested the U.S. may enter the conflict and potentially target Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The conflict could fuel inflation in the U.S. and globally. Brent and West Texas Intermediate crude prices rose to $76 and $74, respectively, while global shipping costs have also jumped. As a result, the Federal Open Market Committee may opt for a wait-and-see approach, monitoring the impact of geopolitical tensions and Trump’s proposed tariffs.

On a more positive note, Bitcoin demand appears to be rising. Spot Bitcoin ETFs saw over $216 million in inflows on Tuesday, bringing total cumulative inflows to $46.26 billion. In a note, an XBTO analyst said:

“A hawkish signal from the Federal Reserve could strengthen the US dollar and trigger a test of the psychological $100,000 mark. The geopolitical situation remains a wildcard, where further deterioration would likely trigger another move down across risk assets.”

On the eight-hour chart, BTC has pulled back from a high of $110,500 to around $104,530. It has formed a double-top pattern with a neckline at $100,300, a formation often associated with bearish breakouts.

Bitcoin has also fallen below the 50-period Exponential Moving Average and is approaching the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement level. Meanwhile, the MACD indicator has dropped below the zero line.

As such, Bitcoin may continue falling, with the next level to watch being $100,300, about 4.2% below current prices. A break below that support could open the door to a deeper decline toward the 38.2% retracement level at $97,560.

Polymarket Odds on US Strike Against Iran Spike, Then Fall

On Monday, the odds that the U.S. will strike Iran before July reached 67%.

The surge in betting comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.

On Thursday, after Israel launched airstrikes and drone attacks against Iran, Bitcoin dropped 4% to $103,556 from a 24-hour high of $108,500.

Although no official confirmation or public military directive from the Trump administration has been issued, the Polymarket odds for U.S. action against Iran rose 32% from 35% on March 31, when the market opened, to 67% by June 16.

“Trump said that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. Iran has one nuclear facility only U.S. bombers can reach,” one yes voter wrote. “The U.S. has sent fighter jets and ships to the Middle East. And people on here are betting for an attack not to happen? Seriously, this has to be the most irrational group of market participants on the planet.”

While prediction markets do not guarantee outcomes, they are often viewed as a real-time aggregation of public sentiment and informed speculation. In this case, traders respond to geopolitical developments, military positioning, or shifts in diplomatic rhetoric.

“The promise of prediction markets is to harness the wisdom of the crowd to create accurate, unbiased forecasts for the most important events to society,” Polymarket said in a statement on the poll.

“That ability is particularly invaluable in gut-wrenching times like today. After discussing with those directly affected by the attacks, who had dozens of questions, we realized that prediction markets could give them the answers they needed in ways TV news and Twitter could not,” it added.

Polymarket’s “yes” probability has dropped from its 67% peak to 50%—a roughly 17-point decline from its high.

“Be kind and ask a yes holder how their day was,” a no voter wrote.

Whether the yes gamblers are proven to be right remains to be seen. But for now, Polymarket is signaling a clear message: many bettors believe time is running out to avoid a confrontation.
