BTC Breaks $120K With Traders Eyeing Bullish October Rally

by admin October 3, 2025

Bitcoin BTC$120,075.16 broke above $120,000, a level not seen since mid-August, as traders position for a bullish October for risk assets.

The token has been climbing steadily over the past five days, recovering from a late September pullback. Analysts point to renewed optimism around macroeconomic tailwinds that could boost risk assets in the final quarter of the year.

In the derivatives market, BTC futures are flashing bullish signals with open interest reaching a record high of $32.6 billion, suggesting traders are positioning for further upside. On-chain analyst Skew noted that short positions are also piling up, which could create an opportunity for a short squeeze.

Traders will be particularly focused on the next Fed meeting at the end of this month, which could happen without access to a fresh jobs report amid the government shutdown. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told CNBC on Thursday that the shutdown could further weaken the economy

“We could see a hit to the GDP, a hit to growth and a hit to working America,” he said.

Though historically the impact of a government shutdown on the economy has been minor, President Donald Trump’s threat to fire roughly 750,000 federal workers could have an effect in the current climate.

Appetite for crypto could also be fueled by hopes for an incoming altcoin season as several applications for altcoin-related spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) will likely see approval once the government reopens.

Canary Capital’s Litecoin ETF is due for a response today with others facing deadlines between Oct. 10 and 24. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), however, confirmed on Wednesday that it will not review any applications during the shutdown.

Similar to bitcoin, altcoins were trading higher over the past 24 hours, led by DOGE$0.2576 which was up nearly 3%. The CoinDesk 20 Index, which tracks the performance of the 20 largest crypto assets, is 1.5% higher over the same period.

Paul Howard, senior director of crypto trading firm Wincent, was skeptical earlier this week about bitcoin’s rebound, but he flipped bullish seeing the strength of the past days’ advance.

“With $BTC trading back at levels last seen in mid-July, the total market cap is once again above $4 trillion,” he noted. “We have seen a slow grind higher breaking above $115,000, indicating we are now more likely to stay above this level, with a CME gap to lock in the floor at $110,000.”

“I believe we are now set to see a sustained rally above $120,000 in the coming weeks,” he added.

South Korea’s Naver Financial ‘Discussing’ Upbit Stock Swap, Eyeing Stablecoin Market

by admin September 25, 2025

In brief

  • South Korean internet giant Naver is in talks over a share swap with Upbit operator Dunamu.
  • Naver’s filing confirmed talks on a share exchange and stablecoin projects were taking place, but said no terms are finalized.
  • The move builds on a July KRW stablecoin plan with Dunamu, ahead of new legislation expected in October.

South Korean internet giant Naver Corporation is in talks with crypto exchange Upbit operator Dunamu over a possible share swap that could bring the country’s largest exchange under the Naver group.

Naver shares rose as much as 11.4% on Thursday, per Google Finance data, after local outlet Chosun reported the companies had agreed to a comprehensive stock swap.

The report described a deal that would make Dunamu a subsidiary of Naver Financial, the group’s fintech arm, giving the tech giant direct control of Upbit and positioning it for a deeper move into crypto markets.

Naver filed a disclosure with the Korea Exchange addressing reports that it had agreed to a share swap with Dunamu, operator of Upbit. In the filing, Naver stated that it is “discussing various forms of cooperation with Dunamu, including the possibility of a share exchange as well as projects involving “stablecoins and unlisted stock trading.”

No additional details or methods have been finalized, but Naver has committed to re-disclose within a month or once specific terms are confirmed. In a statement shared with Decrypt, a Dunamu spokesperson said that, “Beyond discussions on stablecoins and unlisted stock trading platform, Dunamu and Naver Pay are exploring a range of additional collaborations,” adding that, “No further details or specific agreements have been finalized at this time.”

Naver and Dunamu

The talks build on a partnership announced in July when Naver Pay and Dunamu revealed plans for a KRW stablecoin.

That project positioned Naver as lead issuer with Dunamu in a supporting role, marking one of the first attempts to create a large-scale won-backed token ahead of new legislation. Earlier this month, Dunamu unveiled that it had been working on a custom Ethereum layer-2 blockchain called “GIWA” designed to open up new infrastructure for stablecoins and payments.

South Korean lawmakers are expected to table a stablecoin bill in October that would clarify issuer requirements, reserve rules, and audit standards. Major stablecoin players Tether and Circle have taken meetings with top executives from the country’s financial groups as early as August.

If the deal is completed, Naver would be the first major South Korean platform to fully integrate an exchange into its financial ecosystem. The company already dominates search, messaging, and payments in South Korea, and adding Upbit could accelerate cross-selling of its financial verticals, stablecoin adoption, and new trading products.

Grvt raises $19m to drive privacy-first onchain finance, eyeing $trillion markets

by admin September 18, 2025

Disclosure: This article does not represent investment advice. The content and materials featured on this page are for educational purposes only.

Grvt raises $19m Series A to advance its ZK-powered DEX, tackling privacy, security, and scalability in onchain finance.

September 18, 2025 – Panama City, Panama – Grvt, the preeminent DEX (decentralized exchange) for onchain financial privacy that is powered by zero-knowledge (“ZK”) technology, today announced the close of a $19 million Series A funding round.

This investment strengthens Grvt’s pioneering position as the global blueprint for the future of finance, accelerating its mission to disrupt the fragmented onchain finance ecosystem by addressing longstanding industry challenges, including privacy vulnerabilities, security, scalability and accessibility.

As Wall Street embraces blockchain technology, the next chapter of global finance is being written, and it’s happening onchain. In August, Ethereum‘s onchain volume reached over $320 billion, its highest level since mid-2021. Research also projects the DeFi sector to surge from $32.36 billion in 2025 to over $1.5 trillion by 2034.

However, this potential remains untapped due to critical concerns raised by a surge of issues on decentralized platforms. These issues include “whale hunting”, where large trades are front-run or exploited by sophisticated actors scanning the mempool. Such tactics lead to billions in annual losses from maximum extractable value (MEV) attacks and other manipulative tactics. Further challenges include smart contract exploits, compliance hurdles on public chains, a siloed onchain ecosystem, and a lack of ease of use for everyday people.

Grvt is the only player in the field with a solid head start and tech infrastructure to change that. The Series A round was co-led by Grvt’s foundational technology partner ZKsync; Further Ventures, a leading capital markets infrastructure investment firm based in Abu Dhabi, which also led the strategic investment round into Grvt (deal closed last December); EigenCloud (fka EigenLayer), a verifiable cloud platform that lets developers build any application; and 500 Global (formerly 500 Startups), a venture capital firm with $2.3B in AUM investing in founders with a global outlook building fast-growing startups.

Majority of the funds raised will accelerate Grvt’s multi-pronged product strategy, designed to serve both active traders and passive investors. This unique approach is absent from the current exchange scene, solidifying Grvt’s unrivaled position to dominate and unify the fragmented onchain financial landscape and bring it to mainstream. Key pipelines include:

  • Fixed Yield Generation Flywheel: An industry-first yield vehicle that lets users effortlessly move funds between their funding, trading, and vault accounts, and maximize returns.
  • Infrastructure: Keep strengthening Grvt’s privacy-by-default infrastructure which is lacking in the industry.
  • Stablecoin-Enabled System: A robust stablecoin business foundation, including cross-exchange vaults and real-world asset (RWA) integrations.

The remaining funds will fuel community initiatives and talent acquisition to drive global expansion.

Hong Yea, co-founder and CEO at Grvt, commented: “Onchain finance has been held back by privacy gaps that expose users to exploitation. By building a privacy-driven, scalable, and trustless DEX that offers a wide array of structured products, Grvt exemplifies how ZK-powered solutions will become the new normal for everyone, realizing the vision of an open and secure onchain finance world.”

Alex Gluchoski, co-founder and CEO at Matter Labs, commented: “We believe ZK is the ‘HTTPS moment’ for crypto. Just as HTTPS took the internet mainstream by adding a layer of trust and privacy, ZK will do the same for Web3. Grvt is uniquely positioned to be the most liquid and impactful application layer to help realize this vision, their dedication and progress excellently demonstrates how ZK can bring onchain finance to mainstream.”

Faisal Al Hammadi, Managing Partner, Further Ventures, “Further Ventures is committed to backing the next generation of financial infrastructure from Abu Dhabi to the world. Grvt’s application of zero-knowledge proofs demonstrates how cutting-edge cryptography can underpin markets at institutional scale, and we are proud to support their vision for a truly borderless financial system.”

Sreeram Kannan, Founder and CEO at Eigen Labs, “Verifiable data powers verifiable compute, and with EigenDA now at 100 MB/s, the bottleneck has shifted from data to compute. Grvt is tackling that frontier head-on. Their ambitious vision is matched by the caliber of their team, and we’re thrilled to back them alongside ZKSync in bringing onchain finance to cloud scale with the security and privacy it requires.”

Min Kim, General Partner at 500 Global, commented: “We believe the next frontier of finance will be built onchain, and privacy is a foundational element to unlock its full potential. Grvt’s vision of combining ZK technology with institutional-grade infrastructure aligns strongly with our thesis of backing global founders who are re-architecting core financial systems. We’re excited to partner with Grvt as they set a new standard for secure, private, and accessible onchain markets.”

A collective charge to lead and consolidate onchain finance

By implementing zero-knowledge technology and integrating with the ZKsync technology which has been explored in proofs-of-concept by leading institutions like Deutsche Bank, UBS and more, Grvt is uniquely positioned as a blockchain-native global blueprint for what ZK is able to achieve for finance, making everyday trading and investing secure, fast, private, and accessible. This is how the ZKsync Stack helps solve key bottlenecks when bringing finance onchain:

  • Privacy: Grvt runs a ZKsync Validium L2 blockchain that validates L2 state without publishing it, thereby ensuring privacy, an issue that has long plagued most DeFi protocols.
  • Ethereum-level Security: With ZK proofs, L2 transactions inherit Ethereum-level security. Every batch of transactions is verified directly on Ethereum, this means that even though transactions are processed off-chain for speed and low cost, their validity is mathematically guaranteed. If any transaction were invalid, the proof would fail and Ethereum would reject it.
  • Scalability: The ZKsync Stack improves scalability by operating as a L2 solution, enabling the processing of significantly more transactions than Ethereum’s base layer.
  • Accessibility: ZKsync technology makes transactions cheaper by handling them off-chain in bulk and only posting the essential proofs to Ethereum’s base layer, cutting settlement costs dramatically.

As a key investment arm of Abu Dhabi’s strategic push into the blockchain space, Further Ventures’ co-leadership of the Series A round consolidates its leading position as a critical force in shaping onchain finance globally.

As one of the fastest-growing developer ecosystems in crypto, EigenCloud’s EigenDA, the #1 data availability solution for Ethereum rollups, provides Grvt with the scale and security needed to operate at cloud speed. By anchoring data to a decentralized validator network, EigenDA ensures that Grvt’s ZK stack remains both verifiable and scalable.

Looking ahead, Grvt will also tap into EigenDA’s programmable privacy features, which resolve the long-standing paradox between data availability and privacy. This breakthrough allows Grvt to combine data availability with privacy guarantees, an achievement once thought impossible.

Looking ahead

Building on Grvt’s innovative foundation, which has already delivered several industry firsts – such as a 1 bps maker fee rebate for all maker orders (a benefit traditionally reserved for institutions) – the immediate next step is the launch of our fixed-yield product. This product will ensure a 10% interest rate return for all users. We will also introduce our flagship market-making strategy, the Grvt Liquidity Provider (GLP), a fund strategy that provides high double-digit APRs, which was once inaccessible to retail traders.

Amid the industry’s rapid growth, this funding round establishes a robust, multi-layered foundation. It combines cutting-edge technology, institutional-grade infrastructure, and a secure data framework to create a platform that solidifies its strong position in the increasingly crowded onchain financial space.

– Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are all looking at Ajax midfielder Jorthy Mokio, according to TEAMtalk. Barcelona and Real Madrid are also monitoring the 17-year-old, who made his first-team debut for Ajax last term and has played 60 minutes so far this season. He had already rejected offers from Barcelona and Bayern Munich to sign for Ajax from KAA Gent last year.

– Chelsea have held talks over a move for Independiente del Valle centre-back Deinner Ordóñez, according to the Daily Mail, with the 15-year-old being seen as the next big talent to emerge from the Ecuadorean club which has produced Chelsea players Moisés Caicedo and Kendry Páez as well as Piero Hincapié. Ordóñez’s performances have also caught the attention of Liverpool scouts and clubs from Spain and Germany. The defender wouldn’t be allowed to move to Europe until he turns 18 in October 2027, but Independiente are willing to agree a deal and want around £14m.

– Inter Milan are considering moving for Dusan Vlahovic when the striker leaves Juventus as a free agent at the end of the season, Calciomercato reports. Vlahovic’s time in Turin looks set to go no further than next summer, when he is out of contract with little prospect of a new deal on reduced terms being accepted. The Serbia international could have left in the last transfer window, but was unwilling to accept a drop in his €12 million salary. There is now a resignation that the Vlahovic, 25, will depart when his contract ends, but Inter’s interest isn’t concrete yet due to the financial demands and the club’s hopes for young forward Francesco Esposito.

– Borussia Dortmund could try to permanently sign Aaron Anselmino if the 20-year-old centre-back impresses on loan from Chelsea, Sport Bild reports. The Bundesliga club will take a similar approach to their one regarding Carney Chukwuemeka, when they capitalised on the midfielder’s desire to return to BVB so they could push the fee down to €20m plus add-ons rather than meeting the Blues’ request of €35m. There is no permanent option included in Anselmino’s loan.

– AEK Athens forward Anthony Martial is getting closer to joining Sergio Ramos and Lucas Ocampos at Liga MX club Monterrey, according to L’Equipe. AEK Athens had also been in talk with Pumas UNAM, but it is now expected that the 29-year-old will be representing Monterrey with negotiations close to being completed. Martial moved to Greece last September having previously been contracted to Manchester United since 2015.

American Bitcoin Eyeing Nasdaq Debut in September: Reuters

by admin August 28, 2025

In brief

  • American Bitcoin is reportedly eyeing a Nasdaq debut in September.
  • The firm is 80% owned by Bitcoin miner Hut 8.
  • American Bitcoin owned 215 Bitcoin in June.

American Bitcoin, a Bitcoin miner that’s partially owned by two of U.S. President Donald Trump’s sons, is inching closer to its public debut, targeting September for a listing on the Nasdaq, according to Asher Genoot, CEO of Bitcoin miner Hut 8.

American Bitcoin’s merger with Gryphon Digital Mining is nearly completed, he told Reuters. Hut 8 owns 80% of American Bitcoin, while Eric Trump and his brother Donald Trump Jr. are expected to own 19% of the company that was unveiled in March.

The firm is striving to become one of the country’s largest Bitcoin miners, scaling up operations as the president pushes forward with his crypto-friendly regime. The stock is expected to trade under the ticker symbol ABTC.

Hut 8’s stock price rose 0.6% on Thursday to $26.51, according to Yahoo Finance. Year-to-date, the Miami-based firm’s share price has increased 29% from $21.10 in January.

Earlier this month, Genoot said during Hut 8’s second-quarter earnings broadcast that Gemini founders and Bitcoin billionaires Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss have invested in American Bitcoin. They decided to invest in the company with Bitcoin instead of cash, Genoot said.

Decrypt has reached out to Hut 8 and Gemini for comment.

Although American Bitcoin is expected to mine Bitcoin, it has also padded its balance sheet with Bitcoin purchases, according to filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The company has accumulated 215 Bitcoin, the firm signaled in June.

Bitcoin changed hands around $112,000 on Thursday, according to crypto data provider CoinGecko. That means that American Bitcoin’s stash would be worth around $24 million.

If it became a public company today, American Bitcoin would be the 30th largest publicly traded Bitcoin holder in the U.S., according to Bitcoin Treasuries. Hut 8 owns 10,667 Bitcoin worth $1.2 billion. The firm has held Bitcoin on its balance sheet since 2017.

Hut 8 raised $220 million last month to purchase Bitcoin and mining infrastructure, alongside its expansion into Dubai. The firm already has offices in Texas, New York, and Alberta, Canada.

ETH Bulls Eyeing $5K as Flows Strengthen

by admin August 27, 2025

Good Morning, Asia. Here’s what’s making news in the markets:

Welcome to Asia Morning Briefing, a daily summary of top stories during U.S. hours and an overview of market moves and analysis. For a detailed overview of U.S. markets, see CoinDesk’s Crypto Daybook Americas.

ETH’s chances of hitting $5,000 this month climbed to 26% on Polymarket, up from 16% just a few days ago, as traders priced in momentum from institutional accumulation and shifting BTC-ETH flows.

(Polymarket)

“Ethereum’s recent strength is mainly showcased by the level of flows into it, where a major liquidity floor has been built by institutions,” said March Zheng, General Partner at Bizantine Capital in a note to CoinDesk.

He added that the ETH/BTC ratio had been sitting at a localized low, making a rebound overdue, and that this cycle is supported by stronger fundamentals such as global stablecoin adoption and clearer regulation.

Market rotation added further color to the rally, Enflux, a market maker, wrote to CoinDesk in a note. XRP joined ETH in leading the majors, while capital chased new narratives, such as CRO, following Trump Media’s “Cronos Treasury” initiative.

Hyperliquid’s surge in trading volume, surpassing Robinhood in July, highlighted how retail speculation is tilting toward native infrastructure, with its $HYPE token gaining double digits. These undercurrents suggest that what matters most is not the day’s closing print but the structural reallocation of liquidity across the crypto landscape, Enflux noted.

Liquidity is being redistributed across the crypto landscape, market observers say, but ETH’s role at the center is reinforced by institutional conviction.

“Markets react to headlines, but longer-term value is driven by fundamentals,” Gracie Lin, CEO of OKX Singapore, told CoinDesk in a note.

“This is why Ethereum continues to show strength through real utility — even as prices pull back, big institutional moves like BitMine’s ETH accumulation prove there’s deep conviction in its role at the core of crypto,” Lin continued. “With new macro data like the US PCE coming in later this week, we’re about to see how that conviction holds up amidst volatility.”

ETH has outpaced BTC by a wide margin, gaining 20% over the past 30 days compared to bitcoin’s 6% decline, market data shows, and trading volumes show ETH commanding more liquidity than BTC despite its smaller market cap.

Market Movements

BTC: Bitcoin is trading at $111,733.63, but weak on-chain activity and $940M in liquidations signal fading momentum.

ETH: Ether is trading at $4,598.67, below its recent all-time high of $4,946, as institutional inflows power the rally while DeFi activity and TVL remain weaker than in past cycles.

Gold: Gold is trading at $3,410.80, holding above $3,400 as Powell’s rate-cut hints, Trump’s Fed shake-up, and record central bank buying fuel safe-haven demand with traders eyeing a run toward $3,500.

Nikkei 225: Asia-Pacific markets mostly fell Wednesday despite Wall Street’s overnight gains, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 down 0.17%.

S&P 500: The S&P 500 rose 0.41% to 6,465.94 on Tuesday as investors looked past Trump’s removal of Fed Governor Lisa Cook and awaited Nvidia’s earnings.
