The Sims 4: Adventure Awaits expansion pack revealed, promising an old-school vacation with new woodland and beachside destinations

by admin September 4, 2025

Apart from balance patches, The Sims 4 developers have been a little quiet recently. The team has certainly been cooking, though, because we just had our first look at the game’s next big moment.

The next major release for The Sims 4 is Adventure Awaits, the expansion that’s just been revealed.

Today’s trailer is brief, only really serving to unveil Adventure Awaits to the world. As with most trailers these days, it arrived via the medium of YouTube Premieres, and quite a few people had been idling in chat prior to the big moment, waiting for the countdown to reach zero.

As most players had already predicted, the theme of Adventure Awaits is vacations, with two new locations to explore as part of the new goal-oriented “getaway” system: Camp Gibbi Gibbi, a woodland destination reminiscent of kids’ summer camps, and Love Highland, a beach villa style resort which apparently incorporates some reality TV inspired “challenges”.

Highlights of the pack’s new and returning features include the reintroduction of the Imaginary Friend occult type (arguably The Sims 3’s most uncomfortable supernatural life state), modular treehouses, customisable vacation venues, and the apparent ability to WooHoo in open water.

There are also new options to work out with spin bikes and freeweights, and a new Park Worker career, with Forest Ranger and Camp Counsellor branches. Older Sims can now gain the Competitive trait, while child Sims get plenty of new Simology of their own, from a new Aspiration to more traits, sentiments, and milestone moments.

That’s almost all we know for now, but we only have to wait one more week until the official gameplay trailer reveals more on September 10th. Meantime, we do at least have a release date for the pack already: October 2nd, with the usual limited-edition pre-order goodies available for anyone who buys before November 13th.

The Sims 4’s most recent expansion release has been Enchanted by Nature, which arrived on July 10. Since then, theres been one major update, which released last month. The DLC has been pretty popular with the community, too.

We recently spoke to YouTuber Eva Rotky about how the game’s build/buy tools have evolved over the years, what remains missing, and what she’d been up to since Enchanted by Nature came out. Hit the link for the full conversation – and this one if you want to appease the gnomes.

Atomfall's second expansion, The Red Strain, unleashes its crimson tendrils next month

Atomfall’s second expansion, The Red Strain, unleashes its crimson tendrils next month

by admin August 31, 2025

Dig your finest cricket bat out of the loft – Atomfall developers Rebellion have revealed its second story expansion is set to arrive in September. It’s dubbed The Red Strain, and looks to star a not-Robobrain who’s connected to a bunch of crimson plantlife filling the Cumberland quarantine zone.

This second DLC follows Wicked Isle, the first Atomfall expansion that you got automatically if you plumped for the deluxe edition of the radioactive pasty survivathon. I still need to go back and play that expansion, and this next add-on looks like an intriguing excuse to do so.

As announced by Rebellion’s fittingly brief blog post and trailer, The Red Strain will be released on September 16th. There’s precious little further info about it at the moment, but the devs have whispered that we can “expect a highly confidential new location and plenty more mysteries to uncover”.

As for the trailer, which you can watch below, it shows off what looks to be a plague of red plants linked to a human-brained robot that’s part of an organisation going by the acronym CORE. One would assume they’re different to, or possibly an offshoot of, the base game’s British Atomic Research Division (BARD). One thing’s for sure, we can expect more rooting through old facilities full of malfunctioning doodads and god knows what else. There’ll be more details forthcoming as the cerise exertion nears, or so Rebellion promise.

Watch on YouTube

Our James liked Atomfall, writing in his review:

It’s a shame that next to the investigating, Atomfall’s shooting, sneaking, and cricket batting don’t deliver the same joys. Still, they’re competent enough not to get in the way, and with a little finesse it’s possible to enjoy extended bouts of that rich, intricate sleuthing without doing a single violence at all. Don’t let those village pub bores get you down: there are far worse places for a forgetful soldier-detective to be.

I’d generally agree with all of that, even if I was maybe a bit more downbeat in my review of it for my old home, mainly because I felt its endings were a bit too on the muted side to be truly satsifying conclusions to all of the great intrigue built up as you wander the hostile sectors of the zone. To me, that robbed Atomfall of totally nailing the ideal short-but-deep experience Rebellion were going for, but it’s all a matter of perspective. Those more into Atomfall’s British sci-fi inspirations than they are keyed up by Fallout to expect more in-your-face radioactive wackiness might find these conclusions perfectly fine.

Either way, I definitely need to give Wicked Isle a go, so am making a point of sliding the game up the great backlog list. I’ve tattoed said list across my inner thigh, so that every time I have impure throughts, I’m reminded that I bought The Saboteur in a Steam sale ages ago and still have zero hours in it.

Astroneer is getting an expansion that’ll let you build huge megastructures

by admin August 30, 2025

ASTRONEER – Megatech DLC Teaser Trailer – YouTube

Watch On

Approaching its tenth year out, exploration and crafting hit Astroneer shows no signs of slowing down as developer System Era Softworks has announced a new full, paid expansion called Astroneer: Megatech. It’s due out this November, with an accompanying free update, and will bring a new scale of construction to your exploratory infrastructure.

“Unlock the ability to build massive Megastructure projects that will test your base building skills through the use of both new and existing technology. Harness the power of Megatech to take base building and automation to a whole new level,” says developer System Era Softworks.

The free update will introduce a cargo system, an interplanetary transport network designed to ferry resources from one base to another without your little astroneer personally leading the charge and unloading everything. It’ll be a huge boon for those who loved Astroneer’s previously-added automation features.

Related articles

The others, however, look pretty mysterious. One in concept art is some kind of massive greenhouse-like structure with a glass roof. Another is a deliciously vague giant bulb of a building that looks like it eats entire resource canisters for breakfast and puts them to work on some kind of giant… wheel… thing.

The last one I’ve spotted is the admittedly obvious one: A huge ring platform built around the small moon of one planet. There’s a lot going on there, but it’s clearly meant to be a central, space-based platform for your operations to work out of. Which is cool as hell, to be honest, but will probably take a boatload of resources to complete. For my part, I’m wondering if it’s mobile. Do those look more like engines or asteroid grabbers to you?

You can find Astroneer: Megatech on Steam, where it’s supposed to release in November. If you haven’t had the pleasure of Astroneer-ing, well, it’s apparently 67% off until September 8.

If you missed it, earlier this year System Era Softworks announced its next game, the Astroneer-adjacent-but-not-a-sequel Starseeker: Astroneer Expeditions. It’s to be a “a multiplayer voyage of discovery.” System Era has apparently enlisted a second studio, Red Kite Games, to assist with Astroneer’s continued development while they also work on Starseeker. Red Kite Games previously worked on Fall Guys and Two Point Hospital. You can read more about that in System Era’s Astroneer: Megatech blog.

Hut 8 (HUT) Maps Out 1.53GW Expansion as Bitcoin (BTC) Mining Carve-Out Nears: Benchmark

by admin August 27, 2025

Hut 8 (HUT) is set to spin out most of its bitcoin BTC$111,782.47 mining operations into American Bitcoin (ABTC) within the next week, a move that Benchmark analyst Mark Palmer said could re-rate the company’s shares.

Yesterday, Hut 8 unveiled plans to develop 1.53 gigawatts (GW) of new capacity across four U.S. sites, in Louisiana, Texas and Illinois, more than doubling its power under management to 2.55 GW.

Palmer raised Hut 8’s price target to $36 from $33 and reiterated his buy rating on the stock. The new price target suggests nearly 40% upside from yesterday’s close just below $26.

Palmer noted the update was significant because it showed a clear path to monetizing Hut 8’s energy pipeline, with the company already securing land and power agreements, building infrastructure and negotiating with potential customers.

By separating its mining operations into ABTC, Hut 8 aims to position itself as an energy infrastructure pure-play, giving it better access to cheaper project financing by avoiding the volatility tied to bitcoin revenues, the analyst said.

The company has up to $2.4 billion in liquidity to support the expansion, including $1.2 billion in bitcoin, $330 million in credit facilities and a $1 billion equity program, the report noted.

Hut 8 is a flexible bet on both bitcoin and the artificial intelligence (AI)/high performance computing (HPC) boom, Palmer said.

Final Fantasy 14 Is Running Out Of Room On PS4 Ahead Of Next Expansion

by admin August 27, 2025

Final Fantasy 14 came out over a decade ago and has been running on PlayStation 4 since soon after it launched. Sony’s last-gen hardware won’t be able to support Square Enix’s MMORPG forever, though, and director Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida recently explained why.

“My basic stance is that I do want to continue supporting hardware which has grown old,” he said in an interview with Feed4Gamers (via TweakTown). “But I do have one concern, and that’s regarding the OS of the PlayStation 4, and this is regarding the hardware regulations which were made by Sony. These regulations are related to the limit of the data, and because there’s that limit of the data, well, we are continually incorporating updates for Final Fantasy 14 and we are now approaching that limit.”

He continued:

And so for this limit that’s in place, we have been asking Sony Interactive Entertainment from our side to increase that just for Final Fantasy 14, and they have kindly been doing that so far. But they’ve told us now that they are also reaching their limits. So I will repeat myself: I do want to provide support for platforms as long as possible. However, there will eventually come a time when the hardware is at its limits in terms of its technology, and at that point in time we would have to provide an end to the service on that hardware. But I will be sure to provide clear reasoning for that decision when I communicate it to the players.

According to Yoshida, Sony’s already been making exceptions to its standard developer rules in order to accommodate new content for FF14. The game has received several major updates since last year’s Dawntrail expansion, including this month’s patch 7.3, The Promise of Tomorrow. It’s unclear just how much wiggle room is still left for further upgrades and content drops.

When is Final Fantasy 14‘s next expansion coming?

Square Enix has been cagey on the timing of its next expansion, with speculation from some fans that it could arrive as late as spring 2027. Yoshida teased that there will at least be an update on the date for FF14 Fan Fest 2026 on the 10-year anniversary of A Realm Reborn this week.

Other big multiplayer games like PUBG and Genshin Impact are both dropping support for last-gen consoles in the coming months. While Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is still coming to PS4 and Xbox One this fall, other big annual franchises like MLB: The Show and Madden NFL have all ditched the aging hardware. Considering we’re nearly five years into the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S lifecycles, the only surprising thing is that these moves didn’t come sooner.

Originally released on the PS3 in 2013, FF14 left that console behind at the time of the Stormblood expansion in 2017, a departure for which Square Enix provided eight months of notice. My guess is that update 8.0, whenever it arrives, might similarly mark the end of the MMORPG’s journey on PS4. And by that point, PS6 will probably be just around the corner.

Hut 8 (HUT) Gains on Power Capacity Expansion Plan

by admin August 26, 2025

Hut 8 (HUT), a public bitcoin BTC$111,274.18 mining and energy infrastructure firm, surged Tuesday after revealing plans to more than double the company’s power capacity.

The plans include the development of four new sites across the United States with more than 1.5 gigawatts (GW), expanding total power capacity to over $2.5 GW across 19 locations, according to a press release.

The stock rose more than 10%, hitting a seven-month high just shy of $26 per share even as bitcoin prices remain stuck in the doldrums below $110,000.

Data center firms are enjoying renewed investor interest as demand for computing power soars to fuel artificial intelligence innovation. Recently, tech giant Google took a minority stake in bitcoin miner TeraWulf as part of a $3.2 billion AI infrastructure deal.

“This expansion marks a defining step in Hut 8’s evolution into one of the largest energy and digital infrastructure platforms in the world,” Hut 8 CEO Asher Genoot said in the press release.

The company said it has reclassified the projects from “exclusivity” to “development,” meaning it has secured land and power deals and is working on design and commercialization.

To finance the projects, the firm plans to draw in up to $$2.4 billion in liquidity from various sources. That includes borrowing against its 10,000 BTC stash worth roughly $1.1 billion, a $200 million revolving credit line, an expanded $130 million facility from Coinbase and a recently launched $1 billion at-the-market equity offering.

Investment bank Roth Capital viewed the expansion plans as a “notable step-up,” with potential to “materially re-rate the stock” as the sites come online and get contracted for AI and high-performance computing.

Sunswap Drives TRON DeFi Expansion With 16 Million Transactions

Sunswap Drives TRON DeFi Expansion With 16 Million Transactions

by admin August 25, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Tron (TRX) has been gaining significant attention recently, both for its strong fundamentals and its steady price action within a clearly defined uptrend. Despite market volatility across the crypto sector, Tron has consistently demonstrated resilience, supported by its growing ecosystem and dominance in the stablecoin market.

One of the key drivers of this momentum is Sunswap, the leading decentralized exchange (DeX) on the Tron network. According to CryptoQuant data, Sunswap continues its rapid ascent, crossing major milestones in transaction activity and user adoption. The platform is now natively integrated into several widely used wallets, including BitgetWallet, TrustWallet, and TronLink, making it easier for millions of users to access Tron’s DeFi ecosystem seamlessly.

In addition to DeFi growth, Tron has established itself as the primary hub for USDT supply, with over $80 billion of Tether circulating on the blockchain. This leadership in stablecoin adoption underscores Tron’s role as a backbone of liquidity in crypto markets, facilitating fast and cost-efficient transactions.

Sunswap Transactions Point To Growing Strength In Tron

According to top analyst Darkfost, Sunswap has now surpassed a major milestone with over 16 million transactions since its launch, cementing its role as Tron’s leading decentralized exchange. Despite a volatile market in 2025, Sunswap’s weekly transaction count has remained remarkably steady, showcasing resilience and consistent user activity. This strength is further reflected in Tron’s active addresses, which have now exceeded 2.5 million, a figure that continues to trend upward in a stable manner.

Sunswap Weekly Active Addresses | Source: Darkfost

Sunswap’s growth is not only about volume but also about diversification. The platform has been expanding its offering by listing more tokens, including TRUMP, the token tied to US President Donald Trump, which has gained attention among traders. This diversification reflects Sunswap’s adaptability and ability to capture interest across different market narratives.

Looking back at 2024, transactions involving the top 20 tokens exceeded 12 million, with WTRX and USDT dominating activity. However, other tokens like SUNDOG and JST also had a noticeable presence, while the share of smaller tokens labeled as “OTHERS” grew.

In 2025, with more than 6 million transactions already recorded, the trend is shifting. The dominance of WTRX appears to be decreasing, while newer entrants such as LMTV, SUNDOG, and JST are gaining traction. This transition highlights Sunswap’s evolving ecosystem, where trading activity is becoming more evenly distributed across a broader set of assets, signaling a healthier and more sustainable DeFi environment on Tron.

TRX Price Analysis: Testing Support

The 4-hour chart of Tron (TRX) shows the asset consolidating after an extended uptrend, with price currently trading near $0.3518. The short-term structure remains bullish, but momentum is slowing as TRX tests its 50-period moving average around $0.3550. This zone is acting as immediate resistance, while the 100-period SMA at $0.3520 is serving as dynamic support.

Tron fails to set a higher high | Source: TRXUSDT chart on TradingView

Over the past month, TRX has consistently made higher highs and higher lows, confirming a bullish market structure. However, the recent sharp rejection from the $0.37 level highlights increasing selling pressure near local highs. A failure to defend the 100-SMA could expose the 200-SMA around $0.3390, which aligns with a stronger support area.

If bulls manage to hold above $0.3520 and reclaim the 50-SMA, a retest of $0.365–$0.370 is likely, potentially opening the door for a breakout toward new highs. Conversely, a breakdown below $0.3390 would suggest deeper consolidation, potentially dragging TRX toward the $0.32 region.

The trend remains intact, but momentum indicators suggest caution as the market consolidates after its strong rally. The coming sessions will be crucial in determining whether TRX resumes its uptrend or enters a corrective phase.

Pokemon TCG Pocket is getting another new expansion on August 28. The update is called Secluded Springs, and it will highlight Pokemon from the Johto region, including a powerful legendary trio.

In Secluded Springs, players will encounter fan-favorite Pokemon as they were originally discovered in the Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver video games, including the powerful Legendary trio: Raikou, Entei, and Suicune. In addition to Johto, the expansion also features Pokemon from the Hoenn region. Some of the new cards can be seen in the trailer below.

According to the official Pokemon website, Suicune will appear on a new binder cover and display-board backdrop, and both will debut on Sunday, August 31. Players can also expect a variety of in-game events to pop up throughout September.

Opening Night Live buried the lede with WoW’s Midnight expansion – the MMO has a load of new additions coming that are genuinely interesting

by admin August 20, 2025

Gamescom Opening Night Live was packed full of new game reveals as is tradition, one of the fancier looking ones surely being the new cinematic for World of Warcraft’s Midnight expansion. Blizzard cinematics are always fantastic, the team responsible for them having seemingly made a pact with eldritch forces to maintain a level of quality one would think insurmountable.

But aside from the glitz and glamour of this cinematic, and the community-wide sigh of relief from the World of Warcraft community that Lor’themar didn’t get murdered live in front of Geoff Keighley, loads of other dope World of Warcraft related information was dropped that you may have missed. Here’s the good stuff.

Watch the cinematic for World of Warcraft: Midnight here!Watch on YouTube

World of Warcraft has housing and it looks pretty cool

My house! | Image credit: Activison Blizzard

A few months back Blizzard announced its intention to eat Final Fantasy 14’s lunch and add player housing into the game, without virtual landlords and camps of destitute players camped outside of plots they’ve heard may be going up for sale soon.

There’s a housing virtual tour website you can use right now to get an idea of what these homes will look like, and a gameplay demonstration at Gamescom gave us a look at what customising a house would actually be like via the lens of various content creators. Seeing internet celebrities place down a dozen carpets has never been so exciting.

Housing will either be a new venture for collectors and social players that’ll add another layer of immersion and lovely personalisation, or it’ll be a barren building speed levelers will run into briefly once when the expansion comes out before racing to max level and wiping in Mythic zero dungeons. Either way, cool. Those who pre-order the expansion can gain access to play housing early, obviously.

New Demon Hunter specialisation and a new allied race

Perhaps the most Avenged Sevenfold spec of all time. | Image credit: Activison Blizzard

A new Demon Hunter specialisation – called the Devourer – has been revealed. This void-focused spin on the edgiest class in WoW allows players to gorge themselves on the power of darkness, using the void to deal loads of damage. Using spells like “Collapsing Star” and “Hungering Slash”, you can pretend you’re not 35 years old and balding.

The Haranir will also be playable as an allied race in Midnight. These subterranean elvish / trollish people were introduced in The War Within and are a pretty rad spiritual subrace of intriguing weirdos. You’ll be able to play them as a Druid, Mage, Monk, Shaman, Priest, Warlock, Rogue, Warrior, and Hunter. Those who level ’em up get a hairy bat mount.

We’re going back to Blood Elf territory

I mean check this out… Brilliant. | Image credit: Activison Blizzard

One of the best zones Blizzard ever made purely from a perspective of vibrancy and high-fantasy vibes was Quel’Thalas. It’s a gorgeous forest filled with beautiful people with one big scar running down the middle. Well it turns out we’re going back, and not only will that big horrible scar be fixed up, but Silvermoon City will also be totally repaired. As a Blood Elf player, it’s a big victory all on its own.

You’re there to make sure the Sunwell doesn’t fall to the forces of evil, a tough endeavor considering the Sunwell has fallen twice already throughout its history. Still, it’s an excuse to head back to Zul’Aman and murder a third generation of Troll, as well as explore two new zones called Harandar and the Voidstorm. Nice.

A Prey system that might just fix the open world difficulty

Now every quest could be a lot more than you bargained for. | Image credit: Activison Blizzard

For years players have been doing quests and roaming around the open world in World of Warcraft with War Mode on, which would open you up to world PvP. This was meant to make questing a little more challenging, but frankly has mainly been used for an XP boost and for some niche collections.

The new Prey system is similar, though doesn’t require any PvP. Instead, by marking yourself as prey, you can go out and hunt (or be hunted) by tough bosses. There are three difficulties too, so it should all be genuinely tricky for those looking for some extra excitement.

Mounts and house customisation pieces can be gained by signing up, so all in all it’ll likely offer a decent diversion for those looking to extend their time in the Midnight zones, rather than through themselves at raids with terrible friends.

So there’s actually a lot to be excited for with World of Warcraft: Midnight. I, someone who swore off the game a year or so ago, has once again reinstalled the MMO and have found myself roaming around the world. Such is the cycle of WoW. I may even pre-order the expansion, for a mount I will ride around only once and transmog I shall never use.
