Red Dead Redemption star teases he "cannot wait" for us to know about a big announcement that's coming "before Friday"

Red Dead Redemption star says he “possibly misled some people” but insists “exciting” news is still on the way

by admin June 21, 2025

Red Dead Redemption 2 actor said he “possibly misled some people” when he teased a Red Dead Redemption-related announcement was on the way.

Last week, John Marston himself – or, at least, the actor who brings him to life, Rob Wiethoff – was very excited indeed about an upcoming announcement, stressing that he was particularly excited as he livestreamed “this game”, the original Red Dead Redemption. His tease came just days after we heard another rumour that Red Dead Redemption 2 may be getting a next-gen update alongside a Nintendo Switch 2 port, and Roger Clark – who portrays Red Dead 2’s Arthur Morgan – backed up Wiethoff’s tease.

Now, however, Wiethoff has walked back his comments, reminding fans that he “do[es] not make announcements for Rockstar Games”, yet still insists he has something exciting to tell us.

“There’s one more thing I wanna say,” Wiethoff told his viewers on YouTube as he introduced a livestreamed gym buddy session on YouTube. “I don’t know how to say this exactly, I’ll just say the one thing, uh, that I need to say, and I think all of you recognise this and know this, anyway.

“I do have something I’m really excited about. I truly am. And I think you will be, too, I really do think so. But I possibly, uh, misled some people when I announced that I have something to announce that I can’t talk about right now. Just please recognise – and I know that you know this – but let me remind you, I guess: I do not make announcements for Rockstar Games. We all know that. I’m just reminding you. I do not make announcements for Rockstar Games. Rockstar Games makes announcements for Rockstar Games, and they don’t use me to do that. So please know that.

“And again, I still think that, uh, a lot of you are going to be really excited about this news. Absolutely. Also, I can’t share it with you yet. And I’m so sorry,” he finished. “But I truly am that excited. That’s all I’m gonna say about that right now.”

Shortly thereafter, fans noticed a main cast reunion was scheduled for the National Gaming Expo in Tampa, Florida, from 8th-10th August, leading some to think this could be the “announcement” he was excited about (thanks, Push Square). The line-up for that was announced several weeks back, though, which doesn’t quite track with Wiethoff’s timeline.

Whatever it is, the announcement has seemingly been delayed. Going by Wiethoff’s original tease, we should’ve finally found out by yesterday, 20th June. However, when asked by a fan today, 21st June, for an update, he replied: “It’s coming. Sorry for the delay. Ha! There are a lot of moving parts. We want to get this right. I think it will be clear why once we’re able to say what’s going on.

“I can assure you, I want to tell you as soon as possible. Ha! I love it. Let’s goooooooo!”

Apple’s rumored iOS 19 gaming app is exciting for Apple fans, but it won’t tempt gamers from Windows

by admin May 28, 2025

  • Apple may be developing a dedicated gaming app for iOS, macOS and more
  • The app will contain things like achievements, leaderboards and messages
  • It could be announced at WWDC in June

For years, Apple has been trying to convince the world that it’s taking gaming seriously, and with the popularity of IOS gaming and the appearance of AAA titles like Cyberpunk 2077 on macOS, there’s some truth to the company’s assertion.

Just in case you needed more convincing, there’s a new rumor from Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman that Apple will soon launch a dedicated gaming app in iOS 19 to woo players to its platforms. As a Mac-owning gamer, I’m cautiously optimistic about the rumors – even if we still need more affordable hardware and games before it gets anywhere close to being a Windows competitor.

If you missed the news, the app will apparently “serve as a launcher for titles and centralize in-game achievements, leaderboards, communications and other activity,” Gurman said, adding that it will also feature “editorial content from Apple about new titles, offer access to the App Store’s game section and promote [Apple] Arcade.” It’s expected to be revealed on iOS, macOS, iPadOS and tvOS as soon as Apple’s WWDC 2025 event on June 9.

The move makes sense – after all, the iPhone is a phenomenally popular gaming platform, and announcing a move like this at WWDC could help to cement the popularity of iOS 19 before it’s even out the door. Apple might also be hoping that it will tempt more gamers to switch from Windows to the Cupertino firm’s platforms – but on this point, I’m not entirely convinced.

Destination of choice for gamers

This app might work well in iOS 19, where gaming tends to be a little more casual than on desktop computers. But things might look very different on macOS.

As a gamer who also owns a Mac, I’ve been encouraged over the last few years by Apple’s strides in the gaming world. It’s nowhere near parity with Windows yet, but the situation today is much better than it was just a few years ago.

For a long time, the problem was the chicken-and-egg nature of Mac gaming. Gamers didn’t want to switch to macOS due to the lack of games, and developers didn’t want to bring games to the Mac due to the lack of players. That’s slowly starting to change, with big-name titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and Baldur’s Gate 3 helping to dispel the idea that the Mac is a gaming wasteland.

However, the impact of a dedicated gaming app will likely be limited. Beyond my contention that gamers care more about hardware and game availability than launcher apps, Gurman is also skeptical, saying that “testers of the software say it probably won’t change the perception among players and makers of high-end titles.”

Any advance for gaming on Apple’s platforms is welcome in my eyes, and this app could help by making gaming more prominent among users of iOS and macOS. But what’s really needed – on the Mac at least – is a greater number of attention-grabbing titles and more affordable access to components that offer exceptional gaming performance.

Until that happens, Windows will always be the destination of choice for gamers.

Ripple CEO Breaks Silence on What Makes Crypto ETFs Exciting

by admin May 24, 2025

  • Garlinghouse on what makes crypto ETFs “exciting”
  • First-ever XRP futures ETF goes live

Brad Garlinghouse, the chief executive at Ripple blockchain juggernaut, has taken part in Ripple’s podcast “Crypto in One Minute” to talk about crypto-based exchange-traded funds and their importance to the cryptocurrency space.

This video with Garlinghouse’s participation was published a few days after the first-ever XRP futures ETF was launched on the Nasdaq exchange.

Garlinghouse on what makes crypto ETFs “exciting”

In his short, one-minute-long speech Ripple CEO named two main reasons why he believes that people are excited about crypto ETFs launching since January 2024. The first one is that for a long time institutional investors from Wall Street have been unable to access crypto assets directly to trade or invest in them. They had to either use self-custody options or hold crypto on centralized exchanges, which

For the first time, financial institutions have been able to go and trade crypto directly, whether it was endowment, pension funds, mutual funds, or anything else. Now, institutions can do it easily thanks to crypto ETFs.

The second important factor named by Garlinghouse was that the launch of ETFs is really “institutionalizing the entire industry of crypto.” He reminded the audience that the Bitcoin ETF was the fastest ETF in history to reach $1 billion in assets. As well as that, it passed the $10 billion mark faster than any other ETF ever did.

Garlinghouse believes that the Bitcoin ETF will “eventually close in on the gold ETF” in the near future.

First-ever XRP futures ETF goes live

Earlier this week, major investment company Volatility Shares launched the first-ever XRP futures ETFs on the Nasdaq exchange under the XRPI ticker. That launch took place after on May 19, the CME exchange launched an XRP-futures product. In 2017, CME and CBOE were the first platforms to launch Bitcoin futures for financial institutions.

Roughly a month before that, the first XRP-based product, Tectrium 2x Long Daily XRP ETF, was rolled out by Tectrium.

Prior to launching Bitcoin spot ETFs in January 2024, BlackRock and several other companies, also released Bitcoin futures ETFs a few years before.

As reported by U.Today, this week, the SEC delayed a spot XRP ETF filing coming from CoinShares.

Over the past 24 hours, XRP has lost more than 7%, dropping from $2.47 to $2.29. By now, the coin has partly recovered, adding 2.08% and changing hands at $2.34.
