BlackRock Weighs Tokenized ETFs on Blockchain in Push Beyond Treasuries

by admin September 11, 2025

BlackRock is exploring how to bring exchange-traded funds (ETFs) onto public blockchains, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. The sources said the asset manager is weighing tokenizing funds tied to real-world assets such as stocks, though any rollout would depend on regulatory approval.

The discussions follow BlackRock’s first experiment with tokenization last year. The firm introduced the BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund, also known as BUIDL. The fund, which is backed by short-term U.S. Treasuries, repurchase agreements and cash, has quickly grown into the world’s largest tokenized Treasury product, managing nearly $2.2 billion.

Tokenizing ETFs would represent a deeper step into blockchain-based financial products. In practice, it would mean that shares of the funds — traditionally traded on stock exchanges during market hours — could be issued and transacted as tokens on chain.

Proponents argue this shift could bring clear benefits. A tokenized ETF could be traded around the clock, rather than only during exchange hours. Settlement, which often takes two business days in traditional finance, could be completed within minutes. Investors in markets where ETFs are not easily accessible might gain exposure through blockchain rails.

The products are pending a green light from regulators, the people said. BlackRock’s exploration underscores a wider trend across finance, as banks, fintechs and asset managers test blockchain rails for bonds, private credit and now mainstream equity funds.

3iQ’s Solana And XRP ETFs Mark New Records In Canada

by admin September 10, 2025

Investment firm 3iQ’s Solana Staking ETF (SOLQ) and XRP ETF (XRPQ) have set new records for assets under management (AUM), making them the largest ETFs in Canada.

According to the official announcement, the SOLQ ETF now has more than CAD 300 million in AUM, and the XRPQ ETF now has more than CAD 150 million, making them the largest in Canada under their categories.

Solana Staking ETF (SOLQ) made news earlier this year when it raised an impressive C$90 million in just two days. It quickly became Canada’s largest Solana ETF in terms of AUM. After that, 3iQ started its XRP ETF, which was also a first. In only three days of trading, XRPQ had more than C$32 million in AUM, making it the largest XRP-focused ETF in Canada.

Pascal St-Jean, President and CEO of 3iQ, said that the success of SOLQ and XRPQ at the same time shows that more investors want regulated, easy-to-use crypto investment vehicles.

“The momentum behind SOLQ and XRPQ demonstrates that Canadian investors and global leaders in the digital asset space are embracing secure, transparent, and regulated access to digital assets,” he said.

3iQ Solana Staking ETF (TSX: SOLQ, SOLQ.U) and 3iQ XRP ETF (TSX: XRPQ, XRPQ.U) record largest AUMs in their respective categories!

We’re excited to share that investor demand sees $SOLQ surpass CAD 300 million and $XRPQ exceed CAD 150 million in AUM. Launched earlier this year,… pic.twitter.com/ABSPdnfqBZ

— 3iQ Digital Asset Management (@3iq_corp) September 9, 2025

XRPQ had a 0% management fee for the first six months, which made it one of the cheapest digital asset ETFs on the market. Ripple, one of the biggest enterprise blockchain companies, backed the fund early on, which also helped its credibility.

Canada is now at the forefront of crypto-linked ETF innovation thanks to these quick milestones. This makes it easy for investors to get into altcoins like Solana and XRP.

SEC delays decisions on Bitwise Dogecoin and Grayscale Hedera altcoin ETFs

by admin September 10, 2025

The U.S. SEC has extended its review of the Bitwise Dogecoin and Grayscale Hedera ETF applications, pushing both deadlines to Nov. 12 amid a growing backlog of altcoin ETF filings.

Summary

  • The SEC delayed NYSE Arca’s Bitwise Dogecoin ETF and Grayscale’s Hedera ETF to Nov. 12.
  • The agency has repeatedly extended deadlines for multiple altcoin ETFs, including Solana and XRP products.
  • Bloomberg data shows 92 altcoin ETF applications are now pending, with Solana and XRP drawing the most institutional demand.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has postponed its decisions on two proposed altcoin ETFs, extending the review period until Nov. 12.

The agency said on Tuesday that it is delaying action on NYSE Arca’s application to list the Bitwise Dogecoin (DOGE) ETF, originally filed in March. On the same day, the SEC also extended its review of Grayscale’s Hedera (HBAR) ETF filing, giving the product the same November deadline.

The delays continue a pattern in which the SEC has opted to use the maximum time allowed under statutory review windows. The SEC has already delayed multiple decisions in recent weeks, including filings tied to Solana (SOL), Ripple (XRP), and other altcoin ETFs.

The current altcoin ETF landscape

The backlog of pending altcoin ETF applications continues to grow. According to Bloomberg Intelligence analyst James Seyffart, there are now 92 crypto-related exchange-traded products awaiting regulatory decisions. Among them, SOL and XRP are drawing the strongest institutional demand, with eight and seven ETF applications pending, respectively.

Meanwhile, momentum is building for new products. On Sept. 8, the agency acknowledged a filing for the Canary Staked SEI ETF, officially starting the review process for what would be the first U.S.-listed SEI fund.

Grayscale Seeks SEC Nod for Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Hedera (HBAR) ETFs

by admin September 9, 2025

Grayscale filed paperwork with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Tuesday for three crypto exchange-traded funds, expanding its roster of potential offerings as issuers jockey for regulatory approval.

The asset manager submitted an S-1 registration for a Litecoin LTC$109.19 ETF, a move that follows its earlier bid to convert the Grayscale Litecoin Trust into an ETF.

At the same time, it lodged S-3 filings for exchange-traded funds tied to Bitcoin Cash BCH$578.41 and Hedera HBAR$0.2127. If approved, the products would join a lineup that already includes spot bitcoin and ether ETFs launched last year.

The filings underscore Grayscale’s push to diversify its crypto-linked investment products while regulators weigh how far to open the door to such funds. Just a day earlier, the firm sought to convert its Chainlink LINK$22.77 Trust into an ETF, signaling a rapid pace of applications despite regulatory uncertainty.

Grayscale is not alone. Fidelity, VanEck and several other issuers have lined up proposals for digital-asset funds in hopes that the SEC will sign off on more products later this year. Industry executives say broader approval could help mainstream investors gain exposure to cryptocurrencies through regulated markets, while potentially easing concerns about custody and transparency.

For now, the SEC under Chair Paul Atkins has delayed decisions on a range of crypto ETF applications. A green light from regulators would give investors a way to trade crypto exposure alongside traditional securities in brokerage accounts.

Spot Ether ETFs Shed $952M Over 5 Days as Recession Fears Grow

by admin September 6, 2025

Spot ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) logged their fifth straight day of outflows this week, shedding $952 million in total and over $787 million in the four-day week alone.

The withdrawals followed a record-setting August when spot ether ETFs pulled in $3.87 billion even as bitcoin ETFs saw $751 million in net outflows, according to SoSoValue data.

Friday accounted for the sharpest decline, with $446.71 million leaving these ETH-linked funds. Spot bitcoin ETFs, in contrast, posted $246.4 million in net inflows over the past week. The contrast is notable, as funds investing in the flagship cryptocurrency saw $751.1 million in net outflows last month.

Ether has climbed more than 16% over the past month, though it slipped 1.8% in the last week now trading just below $4,300. The cryptocurrency has been benefitting from the GENIUS Act passing into law, which restricted stablecoin issuers from paying interest and provided clarity which could lead to greater institutional investment.

Its recent drawdown is likely related to a broader return from risk assets. That came after weak U.S. jobs data furthered expectations the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates later this month, along with growing fears of a recession.

Traders are now weighing an 89% chance of a 25 bps rate cut, and an 11% chance of a 50 bps cut according to the CME’s FedWatch tool.On Polymarket, odds of a 50 bps rate cut are at 12%.

The cooling data , coupled with growing concerns surrounding economic uncertainty and geopolitical risks, has also seen the price of gold top the $3,600 mark for the first time.

Bitcoin Price Rejected at $113,000, Spot BTC ETFs Lose $400 Million in Two Days, Open Interest Stagnates: Bitcoin Hot News Recap

by admin September 6, 2025

Bitcoin (BTC), the largest cryptocurrency, is taking a breath before the next phase of its rally. While all major metrics are stagnating, some macro indicators hint at a possible 50% upside for the crypto king’s price.

Bitcoin (BTC) price brutally rejected at $113,000

Bitcoin (BTC), the first cryptocurrency, failed to expand its rally to over $113,000. Yesterday, Sept. 5, 2025, its price jumped by 2%, but was stopped by bears. Immediately after touching the resistance level, it dropped back to $110,300.

At press time, Bitcoin’s (BTC) price has stabilized at around $110,900 on major spot trading platforms. In the last 24 hours, Bitcoin (BTC) is up by a negligible 0.24%.

The rest of the cryptocurrency market is also stagnant today. The aggregated capitalization of digital assets added 0.19% and hit $3.81 trillion in equivalent.

The cryptocurrency’s Fear and Greed Index dropped to 48/100, which is considered to be a “Neutral” indicator. As per CoinMarketCap, the cryptocurrency’s RSI sits at 48.46, which also signals about the market being at a crossroads.

In the last 24 hours, the cryptocurrency’s liquidations were below $100 million, which is an indicator of market apathy.

Spot Bitcoin ETFs log $400 million in outflows in two days

Exchange-traded products on spot Bitcoin (BTC) are witnessing outflows in recent sessions. On Sept. 4-5, U.S. BTC ETFs lost almost $400 million in equivalent.

On Sept. 4, 2025, $227 million was withdrawn by investors, followed by $160 million erased the next day. As a result, the aggregated spot Bitcoin ETFs AUM dropped to $144.5 billion.

BlackRock’s IBIT, Grayscale’s GBTC and Bitwise’s BITB are the three most affected ETFs; combined, they lost about $150 million in just one session.

As covered by U.Today previously, spot Bitcoin ETFs have been losing traction since early July 2025. Investors’ pessimism might be a signal of liquidity migration to alternative TradFi products, precious metals and stocks.

At the same time, Ethereum spot ETFs were hit even harder last week. In seven days, spot Ether ETFs lost over $787 million in AUM, which makes this week the most painful for the segment ever.

Since Ethereum spot ETFs were launched in July 2024, its ecosystem has not been hit by such a massive liquidity outflow.

Bitcoin OI stuck in $79-$85 billion corridor for seven weeks

At the same time, this might be just a rebalance since spot ETH ETFs investors injected $2.8 billion in liquidity during the second week of August.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin’s open interest — the total USD-denominated value of all derivatives contracts that are not closed yet — has been stagnating since July.

As of printing time, the aggregated Bitcoin futures OI sits slightly below $80 billion in equivalent. In the last couple of weeks, it has remained almost unchanged. After reaching its peak at $88 billion on July 16, 2025, it started slowly declining.

Binance (BNB), the largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume and user count, is responsible for $14 billion out of this value.

For Ethereum futures, the net open interest has been sitting at $60 billion in equivalent for three weeks in a row. As such, markets might be confused about performance prospects for both assets.

Bitcoin (BTC) to $185,000? Here’s what Tephra Digital BTC/M2 model says

Despite sending mixed signals to its audience, Bitcoin (BTC) can still expand its rally over $150,000 per BTC easily. As a recent model by Tephra Digital asset management firm demonstrates, Bitcoin (BTC) closely follows the M2 metric — the aggregated volume of the U.S. money supply.

If Bitcoin’s lagged M2 and gold correlations hold, the rest of the year could be very interesting. Charts below point to $167k–185k. pic.twitter.com/JJ2PvLcubn

— Tephra Digital LLC (@Tephra_Digital) September 3, 2025

The analyst noticed that Bitcoin (BTC) follows M2 and gold price fluctuations with the lag of 100-200 days. Given that fact, the global cryptocurrency community should be prepared for an extremely bullish Q4, 2025.

Based on these assumptions, Bitcoin’s (BTC) price can naturally reach $167,000-$185,000 by the end of this year.

Bitcoin’s (BTC) price set its current ATH at $124,457 on Aug. 14, 2025. As of now, it is trading 11% below the record price.

Ether (ETH) News: ETFs Suffer Outflows

Ether (ETH) News: ETFs Suffer Outflows

by admin September 5, 2025

Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have recorded four consecutive days of outflows, marking a sharp turn in sentiment after a month of heavy inflows that saw them outperform their bitcoin BTC$111,292.17 counterparts.

Over the past four trading sessions, spot ether ETFs shed a combined $505.4 million, according to data compiled by Farside Investors. By contrast, bitcoin ETFs brought in $283.7 million during the same period. This reversal follows a striking August performance when ether ETFs saw more than $4 billion in inflows, compared to just $629 million for bitcoin funds.

The shift appears tied to price action. Ether dropped to $4,209 on Monday, marking its lowest level since mid-August. This is similar to past observations which have also seen ETH ETF outflows following sizable price declines.

This behavior suggests investors often move to the sidelines rather than buy the dip. That behavior may reflect either a loss of confidence in short-term upside or a reluctance to hold through potential further declines.

The current divergence in flows between the two largest crypto assets points to a cooling of ether-specific enthusiasm, even as bitcoin manages to attract fresh capital.

Still, past performance suggests the pendulum could swing back again. If ether’s price stabilizes or climbs, ETF flows may follow.

Bitcoin ETFs Now Hold 7% of All BTC Supply

Bitcoin ETFs Now Hold 7% of All BTC Supply

by admin September 2, 2025

Bitcoin exchange-traded products (ETPs) now hold more than 1.47 million Bitcoin, amounting to 7% of the cryptocurrency’s maximum 21 million coin supply.

US-based exchange-traded funds for Bitcoin (BTC) have scooped up the largest share, with their holdings exceeding 1.29 million BTC held across all 11 funds as of Sunday, Aug. 31, according to data shared by X account HODL15Capital on Monday.

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) held the most out of any fund at 746,810 BTC, while the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) was the second largest with its holdings just under 199,500 BTC.

Source: HODL15Capital

Global Bitcoin ETPs have added more than 170,000 BTC, worth approximately $18.7 billion, between Dec. 31, 2024, and Aug. 31, 2025.

Demand for Bitcoin ETPs seems to be slowing down, as global Bitcoin ETPs saw a net outflow of $301 million for the month of August, while Ethereum funds attracted inflows of $3.95 billion during the same period, CoinShares reported on Monday.

Bitcoin demand slows

The demand for Bitcoin is slowing down as crypto whales have rotated billions of dollars toward Ether (ETH).

On Monday, a Bitcoin whale sold 4,000 BTC for 96,859 Ether over the span of 12 hours. The whale now holds $3.8 billion worth of Ether.

Blockchain data platform Arkham reported on Wednesday that nine whales have collectively booked a profit in Bitcoin and have rotated into ETH, with their buys amounting to $456 million.

The downturn in Bitcoin comes at a time when September has historically been the weakest month for the asset, while the price of gold notches higher.

Another factor that is likely causing investors to save betting on Bitcoin is that as many as 92 crypto-related ETFs are pending with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, with some of the most-anticipated funds tracking Solana (SOL) and XRP (XRP) due for the regulators’ final decision in October.

Pseudonymous Bitcoin analyst PlanC said that Bitcoin’s path to $1 million might face hurdles.

“Instead, we just keep grinding slowly upward to $1,000,000 over the next seven years in a very boring and underwhelming way,” PlanC said.

Research firm Delphi Digital said that Bitcoin might rally and then crash after the Federal Reserve cuts interest rates, provided the asset increases in price beforehand; however, the firm said the price of Bitcoin will remain stable if it doesn’t garner much activity leading up to the Fed rate cut.

Bitcoin ETFs Positive Again, But Ethereum Still Dominates

by admin September 2, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Data shows the Bitcoin spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are back to positive days, but Ethereum funds are still leading the market.

Bitcoin Spot ETFs Saw 3,018 BTC In Net Inflows Last Week

In a new post on X, analytics firm Glassnode has talked about the latest trend in the weekly inflows related to the US BTC spot ETFs. The “spot ETFs” refer to investment vehicles trading on traditional platforms that allow investors to gain indirect exposure to an underlying asset like Bitcoin or Ethereum.

In the case of cryptocurrencies, the main appeal of the spot ETFs is that they provide a regulated off-chain route into them. This means that investors who aren’t familiar with digital asset wallets and exchanges can also conveniently invest into the space.

While demand for Bitcoin spot ETFs was strong earlier, it has been more mixed lately. Below is a chart shared by Glassnode that shows the trend in the weekly netflow for these investment vehicles over the last few months.

The value of the metric appears to have turned positive in the past week | Source: Glassnode on X

As displayed in the above graph, the US Bitcoin spot ETFs observed significant net inflows between April and July, but then a shift occurred as outflows started taking place instead.

Before this past week, BTC saw outflows in three out of the previous four weeks. While the netflow has switched back to positive in the last week, its value has only been a modest 3,018 BTC ($329 million at the current exchange rate).

That said, the return to green has come alongside a decline in the cryptocurrency’s price, so even the small inflows are a positive indication of institutional demand for BTC. The coin that has seen more notable interest, however, has been Ethereum, the digital asset ranked second by market cap.

The trend in the US spot ETF netflow for ETH | Source: Glassnode on X

From the chart, it’s apparent that the US Ethereum spot ETFs saw negative flows in the previous week, but just like with Bitcoin, the latest week brought back inflows.

Unlike BTC, however, the outflows were an exception to the trend for ETH; the cryptocurrency’s funds were on a 14-week net inflow streak before the the wave of negative flows.

Some of the spikes witnessed during the streak were also quite massive, indicating that institutional entities have been making notable bets on the asset. The latest positive netflow spike has also been significant, with 286,000 ETH (worth about $1.2 billion right now) pouring into the wallets attached to the spot ETFs.

BTC Price

Bitcoin has been facing bearish winds since setting its new all-time high earlier in the month that have taken its price to the $109,200 level.

Ethereum Etfs Record $4B Monthly Inflows As Bitcoin Lags

Ethereum ETFs Record $4B Monthly Inflows as Bitcoin Lags

by admin August 31, 2025

U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs are wrapping up August with nearly $4 billion in net inflows, marking their second-largest monthly gain since they launched. This boost comes as Ethereum continues to outshine Bitcoin ETFs.

Additionally, data from Coinglass highlights the extent of this shift. Back in late 2024, inflows into Ethereum ETFs were quite erratic, with investors pulling out funds even while ETH was hovering around $4,000.

Ethereum Spot ETF Net Inflow, Source: Coinglass

Despite rising prices, market confidence remained quite shaky. By February 2025, Ethereum had dipped below $2,000, and ETF outflows were on the rise. This led to increased selling pressure that affected institutional and retail sentiment.

However, everything changed dramatically by mid-2025. Starting in May, inflows surged, with institutions investing heavily in Ethereum ETFs. At the same time, ETH made a recovery, bouncing back from under $2,000 to near $4,500 by August 29.

As of August 30, Bitcoin spot ETFs experienced outflows of 1.13K BTC, yet the overall net inflows are at 594.01K BTC. The daily trading volume reached $4.66 billion, with net assets totaling $145.17 billion.

Bitcoin ETFs Show Turbulence

Meanwhile, Bitcoin spot ETFs delivered a different story. According to SoSoValue, daily inflows swung violently between surges and withdrawals. At one point, daily inflows exceeded $1 billion. However, several sessions also recorded outflows worth hundreds of millions.

Bitcoin Spot ETF Net Inflow, Source: Sosovalue

On top of that, the white line on the chart indicates that Bitcoin ETF assets surged past $140 billion by the end of August. This shows that, even with all the ups and downs, Bitcoin ETFs have managed to keep their long-term growth momentum.

Particularly, Bitcoin’s price followed ETF flows closely. Since the beginning of 2024, BTC rose to exceed $110,000, which is similar to the activity  inflows and outflows at the time. Thus, Bitcoin ETFs continue to influence market sentiment and liquidity.

According to data from Farside investors, Bitcoin ETFs experienced highs and lows, with BlackRock’s IBIT taking the lead by pulling in over $58 billion since its launch. On August 14, IBIT saw an inflow of more than $523 million.

But just a few days later, on August 19, investors pulled out the same amount across Bitcoin ETFs. Fidelity’s FBTC and Ark’s ARKB also faced significant fluctuations. Additionally, Grayscale’s GBTC continued to lose assets, primarily due to its 1.5% fee, while competitors charge around 0.25%.

Ethereum ETFs Show Early Enthusiasm

As for Ethereum ETFs, data from farside shows August having around $13.5 billion flowing in from various providers. According to the data, there is high demand with August 11 alone bringing in over $1 billion.

However, by mid-month, the trend reversed, and on August 19, there were nearly $430 million in outflows. As the month came to a close, the flows evened out but remained shaky, with Ethereum ETFs losing $165 million on August 29.

Analysts Highlight Broader Expansion

Bloomberg’s James Seyffart noted that Ethereum ETFs alone attracted nearly $10 billion since July, totaling almost $14 billion since inception.

NEW: Ethereum ETFs are on an absolute tear. They’ve taken in nearly $10 billion since the start of July. Here’s what their flows look like since launch — nearly $14 billion pic.twitter.com/Rd4WmCg3Mg

— James Seyffart (@JSeyff) August 29, 2025

Additionally, analyst Lucky pointed out that over 90 crypto ETPs now await U.S. approval, including Solana, XRP, and HBAR. Hence, regulators could open new pathways for institutional capital as early as September.

The Ethereum ETF momentum proves the institutions’ interest. Having other altcoin ETFs will likely increase the funding flowing into the digital assets.
