Solana ETF approval odds at 100% says Bloomberg’s Eric Balchunas

by admin September 30, 2025

Solana ETF approval odds are now at 100% according to Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas.

Summary

  • Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas says the odds of a Solana ETF approval are at 100%.
  • Issuers have submitted amended filings for Solana spot ETFs.
  • The SEC has withdrawn all delay notices for multiple crypto ETFs.

“Honestly, the odds are really 100% now,” Balchunas wrote in a Sep. 30 X post, as he credited the improved odds to recent regulatory developments that have effectively fast‑tracked the usually drawn‑out approval process and stripped away most of the usual hurdles.

According to Balchunas, the SEC’s decision to adopt generic listing standards for crypto-linked commodity trusts has rendered the 19b-4 filings and their statutory review timelines largely irrelevant.

For those unaware, the SEC signed off on new generic listing standards for commodity-based trusts earlier this month, effectively removing the step-by-step calendar that once governed how long the agency could take to approve or deny a proposed ETF.

Typically, when an ETF issuer filed a 19b-4 form, it triggered a review clock that gave the SEC up to 240 days to make a decision. But with the new standards in place, that process no longer applies in the same way. Instead, final approval now rests on the S-1 registration statements, which require sign-off from the SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance.

As of Sep. 30, a number of ETF issuers had already submitted amended filings with the commission to align with the new standards, which just leaves the S-1 approvals from the Division of Corporation Finance as the final step before launch.

“The baby could come any day. Be ready,” Balchunas added.

The cryptocurrency community has long awaited the approval of altcoin-based ETFs ever since the commission approved Ethereum spot ETFs last year. At least nine issuers have filed to launch Solana ETFs, with others pushing for products tied to XRP (XRP), Litecoin (LTC), and Cardano (ADA).

Initially, the SEC had been delaying decisions on these proposals under the traditional 19b-4 review process. However, on Sep. 29, the commission withdrew all remaining delay notices tied to these applications, which provided further confirmation that the regulators were preparing to issue final decisions without further holdups.

With October now being dubbed “ETF Month” by market watchers, expectations are high that a wave of altcoin ETF approvals could arrive within weeks.

According to analysts at crypto.news, if a Solana ETF is approved, it could provide the necessary catalyst that drives SOL towards $260. When writing, SOL was trading at $210.61, up 1.1% on the day.

21Shares Updates Solana ETF Filing Ahead of SEC October Decisions

by admin September 29, 2025

21Shares, an ETF issuer, has filed an updated S-1 for its proposed Solana (SOL) ETF, providing fresh details on staking and in-kind redemptions

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is reviewing the filing, with decisions expected in October. The amendment explains how the fund would handle redemptions in kind and clarifies staking procedures.

Other issuers, including Franklin, Fidelity, CoinShares, Bitwise, Grayscale, VanEck, and Canary, have also submitted similar revisions in recent days as they actively respond to SEC feedback. Currently, about nine applications for Solana ETFs are pending with the SEC.

SEC Decisions in October Could Shake The Markets

Meanwhile, October is gaining significance as a month for the crypto sector. The Several applications, including ETFs related to Solana, XRP, Litecoin, as well as Cardano, are expected to be decided upon by the SEC. Deadlines for these filings are spread throughout the month, and the SEC recently removed all delay notices, leaving the door open for approvals.

Earlier this month, the SEC approved updated listing standards for crypto ETFs, which may have streamlined the approval process.

Under the new rules, a crypto ETF must be listed on a heavily monitored market, have a futures contract overseen by the CFTC for six months, or be linked to an existing ETF holding at least 40% of the cryptocurrency.

Token sees $93m inflows as ETF decision nears

by admin September 29, 2025

XRP witnessed significant inflows of over $93 million as digital asset investment products tied to the cryptocurrency bucked the trend that hit top coins last week.

Summary

  • XRP recorded inflows of $93 million as digital asset investment products tied to the altcoin attracted investors.
  • The anticipation around upcoming ETF approvals has helped the surge in inflows.
  • XRP saw significant volumes when the REX-Osprey XRP ETF launched.

As crypto exchange-traded products recorded a total of $812 million in outflows this past week, XRP digital asset investment products attracted inflows.

Crypto asset manager CoinShares reported on Sept. 29 that the global digital-asset ETP market recorded outflows as investor sentiment around Federal Reserve interest-rate cuts took a slight bump amid stronger-than-anticipated U.S. macroeconomic data.

However, as Bitcoin (BTC) saw $719 million in outflows over the week, with price also dipping to under $109,000, XRP (XRP) recorded the second most inflows with its $93 million behind Solana (SOL) with $291 million.

Both Solana and XRP, the cryptocurrency by Ripple, stood out in terms of inflows amid increased anticipation around exchange-traded funds, CoinShares noted. Investor expectations for a regulatory nod for an XRP ETF have increased in recent weeks, with the market witnessing a significant milestone with the launch of the REX-Osprey XRPR ETF.

As the ETF, filed under the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Act of 1940, notched record volumes on the debut day, analysts pointed to approaching deadlines for a SEC decision for top crypto spot ETFs for XRP, Solana, Litecoin and Dogecoin.

Is XRP ETFs set for approval? Check SEC’s generic listing rules

This anticipation rose as the SEC approved proposed rule changes for generic listing standards for ETPs offering spot exposure to commodities, digital assets included.

Approval means exchanges can now list spot ETFs that meet set generic listing rules “without first submitting a proposed rule change to the Commission.”

On Sept. 29, the SEC reportedly asked ETF issuers to withdraw their 19b-4 filings for various ETFs, signaling simplified rules were in action. With XRP among the tokens with futures on exchanges for the past six months, anticipation is that the SEC can greenlight XRP spot ETFs at any time.

IBIT’s Options Market Fuels BTC ETF Dominance

IBIT’s Options Market Fuels BTC ETF Dominance

by admin September 29, 2025

Analyst James Check and Unchained produced a report on the current bitcoin BTC$112,182.24 market landscape, with the most interesting takeaway being the rise of the bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) specifically the success of iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) and the options market that now underpins the product.

The report opens with a quote saying: “Options are now the dominant derivatives instrument by open interest, being over $90 Billion in size, and eclipsing the futures markets at $80 Billion”.

Since its launch in January 2024, IBIT has seen around $61 billion in net inflows over 18 months, making it one of the most successful ETF’s of all-time.

However, the dominance accelerated following the launch of ETF options in November 2024.

The options market, which gives investors the right but not the obligation to buy or sell an asset at a set price within a certain timeframe, has dramatically reshaped flows, with IBIT attracting $32.8 billion in inflows while competitors have remained flat since the options began trading.

The report states that IBIT now controls 57.5% of all bitcoin ETF assets under management (AUM), up from 49% in October 2024, with roughly 40 cents of options open interest for every dollar of bitcoin held in the fund. By contrast, Fidelity’s FBTC, the second largest ETF, is about 25 times smaller than IBIT in options open interest, with around $1.3 billion.

This level of activity has made IBIT a rival to Deribit, the world’s largest crypto options exchanges, where daily trading volumes typically run between $4 billion and $5 billion, according to the report.

The report also points to 13F filings, the quarterly disclosures required by the SEC for investment managers with over $100 million in assets. These filings show institutions holding ETFs, allowing others to use the options market to be able to short or use arbitrage methods for hedging volatility.

Overall, the report concludes that bitcoin’s volatility profile has shifted meaningfully in this cycle, with ETFs and their options markets serving as a major driver of that change.

“In our view, the launch of options on top of the spot ETFs is thus far an under-discussed, but highly important change in Bitcoin’s recent market structure”, the report said.

Whale Opens $17.6M XRP Short as SEC Nears Crucial Spot Crypto ETF Decisions

by admin September 29, 2025

According to data provided by Lookonchain, a prominent trader recently reopened an XRP short position with 20X leverage.

The notional value of the reopened position stands at $17.6 million.

The trader’s current liquidation price is $2.91. Meanwhile, the Ripple-linked token is currently trading at $2.86, meaning that even a minor move could potentially result in liquidation.

The gutsy bet comes after the trader already took a $3.4 million loss with his Bitcoin (BTC) and XRP shorts.

You Might Also Like

CoinGlass data shows that roughly $3.76 million worth of XRP has been liquidated over the past 24 hours, with short positions accounting for roughly 75% of the wipeout.

Big week for ETFs

The timing of the bet appears to be rather confusing, given that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) could approve spot ETFs in the near future.

As noted by analyst Nate Geraci, the next few weeks could be “enormous” since SEC deadlines are currently approaching on numerous filings.

The agency is set to make final decisions on XRP ETFs during October. The deadline for Franklin Templeton’s proposal is set for Nov. 14.

You Might Also Like

The likely approval of the XRP ETF is likely to supercharge another rally. However, there is also a possibility that such decisions have already been priced in.

XRP is currently down 22% from the all-time high of $3.66 that was achieved on July 18.

Ripple CEO’s Past Words On XRP’s Utility Resonate Today As Community Awaits ETF Decision

by admin September 29, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse’s comments have long emphasized that the value of XRP is rooted in its utility in the financial world rather than speculation or replacing traditional finance as a whole. One of such comments was made in an old interview which has resurfaced to catch the eye of some XRP investors on the social media platform X. Years later, those comments are being revisited as XRP continues to push for adoption in global markets and as investors are counting down to the SEC’s upcoming decision on Spot XRP ETF applications.

Utility Over Hype: Revisiting Garlinghouse’s Message

A recent video which was posted on the social media platform X by popular XRP commentator JackTheRippler ties back into an interview where Garlinghouse noted how trillions in capital could pour into XRP in the coming years. In that conversation, Garlinghouse explained that hype alone cannot sustain the value of any cryptocurrency, insisting instead that true growth comes from solving real-world problems and building a customer base.

These comments were made in a 2017 interview on CNBC’s Squawk Alley, at a time when cryptocurrencies were mostly valued on speculation alone. In the interview, Garlinghouse pointed out that XRP wasn’t just created to trade on exchanges but was meant to serve a real purpose, which is settling liquidity between banks. At the time, he noted that more than $27 trillion was sitting idle in correspondent banking accounts worldwide to facilitate payments between themselves.

— JackTheRippler ©️ (@RippleXrpie) September 27, 2025

His vision was that XRP, with its ability to settle transactions in seconds, could free up that capital and make cross-border payments much more efficient. “We use this digital asset called XRP to settle liquidity needs between banks,” he said.

Even though those words were spoken years ago, they still fit into today’s conversations about XRP. Its adoption potential in the worldwide financial system continues to be the foundation of why many investors believe XRP can stand apart from other cryptocurrencies.

Countdown To US SEC’s Spot XRP ETF Decision

The attention surrounding XRP nowadays is shifting to the regulatory front, with many investors awaiting the outcome of pending Spot XRP ETF applications. After Bitcoin and Ethereum won approval for similar products, many see XRP as the next logical step given its position as the third-largest cryptocurrency.

The US SEC has introduced new listing standards designed to speed up crypto ETF approvals, cutting the review window to 75 days or less. Grayscale’s filing is due for a decision on October 18, followed by 21Shares on October 19, Bitwise on October 20, CoinShares and Canary Capital on October 23, and WisdomTree on October 24.

The eventual launch of a Spot XRP ETF could be the turning point that helps the cryptocurrency take its place alongside Bitcoin and Ethereum in traditional finance.

At the time of writing, XRP was trading at $2.79.

XRP price falls despite $71m surge into spot Ripple ETF

by admin September 28, 2025

XRP price remained in a bear market this week after falling by 25% from the year-to-date high despite a surge in ETF inflows.

Summary

  • XRP price crashed to a crucial support level as ETF inflows jumped.
  • The recently launched XRP ETF has had over $71 million in inflows.
  • Technical analysis points to a strong rebound in the near term.

Spot XRPR ETF inflows soar

The Ripple (XRP) token was trading at $2.77 on September 27, down from the all-time high of $3.65.

The XRP price crash mirrored the performance of other cryptocurrencies, such as Ethereum and Bitcoin. This decline was attributed to rising Federal Reserve jitters and soaring liquidations in the cryptocurrency market.

On the positive side, there is robust demand for the recently-launched spot XRP ETF. Data compiled by ETF.com shows that the ETF has had over $71 million in inflows since its inception last week.

Most of these inflows occurred on Thursday, when they increased by over $36 million. The fund now has over $66 million, a substantial amount for an ETF launched by a relatively small fund manager, with an expense ratio of 0.75%.

Other XRP-linked ETFs have also had strong inflows this year. For example, the Teucrium 2x XRP ETF (XXRP) has had inflows in each week since its inception, bringing its assets under management to $383 million.

These numbers indicate a strong demand for XRP assets on Wall Street. They also mean that the spot XRP ETFs offered by companies like Franklin Templeton and Invesco will experience robust inflows due to their lower fees.

Analysts at JPMorgan predict that these funds will have over $8 billion in inflows in the first year.

XRP price technical analysis

Ripple price chart | Source: crypto.news

The daily chart shows that the XRP token has formed numerous bullish patterns. For example, it has formed a triple-bottom pattern at $2.7212. A triple-bottom often leads to a strong bullish breakout.

The coin has also formed a falling wedge pattern, which is made up of two descending and converging trendlines. This pattern is also part of the handle section of the cup-and-handle pattern.

At the same time, it is in the second phase of the Elliot Wave pattern. Therefore, the coin is likely to experience a strong bullish breakout, potentially reaching the year-to-date high of $3.660.

Solana ETF Set for $1 Trillion? Bitwise CEO Shares Optimistic Outlook

by admin September 28, 2025

Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley has revealed his expectations concerning the firm’s U.S. Solana ETF.

Horsley had stated in a recent X post that Europe’s Bitwise Solana staking ETP saw $60 million in inflows this week. “Solana on people’s minds,” Horsley said.

Reacting to this post, an X user asked the Bitwise CEO about his projection of inflows for the company’s U.S. Solana ETFs post approval. Horsley responded, “$1 trillion first day,” adding “second day is anyone’s guess,” highlighting growing institutional demand for Solana exposure.

Several applications for Solana exchange-traded funds (ETFs) with staking could receive U.S. approval by mid-October, Nate Geraci, the president of NovaDius Wealth Management, predicts following new filings.

Geraci noted that asset managers, including Bitwise, have filed amended S-1 documents for spot Solana ETFs to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Friday. The S-1 document is a comprehensive disclosure outlining the company’s financials, risk profile and the securities they intend to offer.

“Another flurry of S-1 amendments filed today on spot sol ETFs… Franklin, Fidelity, CoinShares, Bitwise, Grayscale, VanEck, & Canary includes staking (yes, bodes well for spot eth ETF staking). Guessing these are approved [within the] next two weeks,” Geraci said.

Get ready for October?

Geraci indicated that October could be significant for the crypto market, pointing to recent developments in the market, such as the first Hyperliquid ETF filing, and the SEC’s approval of generic listing standards for crypto ETFs.

“Get ready for October,” Geraci said. Expectations remain up for October, considered bullish for cryptocurrencies.

At the time of writing, Solana was down 2.81% in the last 24 hours to $196 and 19% weekly as the crypto market saw a sell-off this week in reaction to macroeconomic concerns.

Bitcoin price forms two risky patterns as ETF outflows rise

by admin September 27, 2025

As the Bitcoin price retreats below the $110,000 support level, two risky chart patterns have formed while exchange-traded fund (ETF) outflows rise.

Summary

  • Bitcoin price has formed a head-and-shoulders pattern.
  • BTC has also formed a rising wedge pattern on the weekly chart.
  • Bitcoin ETF inflows have slowed for two consecutive weeks.

Bitcoin price retreats amid ETF weakness

At last check on Saturday, September 27, Bitcoin (BTC) was trading at approximately $109,600. That’s down 12% from its all-time high. It is also hovering at its lowest level since September 2.

BTC and other cryptocurrencies pulled back this week as demand from American investors eased. Data compiled by SoSoValue shows that ETF inflows have slowed in the past two weeks.

All Bitcoin ETFs experienced outflows of $902 million this week, after adding $886 million a week earlier. They said $2.34 billion the week of September 12.

One potential reason for the weakness is that some Federal Reserve officials warned about interest rate cuts. Officials like Austan Goolsbee, Beth Hammack, and Raphael Bostic cautioned that the Fed should be cautious when cutting rates.

These officials noted that inflation has remained above the 2% target for over four years. They also noted that the labor market was still strong, citing the low unemployment rate.

Also, the economy has been resilient, with a recent report showing that it expanded by 3.8% in the second quarter. The number of Americans filing for jobless claims has dropped significantly in the past few weeks.

Looking ahead, the next important catalyst for Bitcoin and other coins will be the non-farm payrolls data on Friday. These numbers will help to determine whether the Fed will cut interest rates in the October meeting.

BTC price has formed a head-and-shoulders pattern

The daily timeframe chart shows that the Bitcoin price has pulled back in the past few weeks. A closer look reveals that it has slowly formed a head-and-shoulders pattern, which often signals further downside.

It has also moved below the 50-day Exponential Moving Average, while the Relative Strength Index has pointed downwards. These patterns suggest further downside potential to the 50% Fibonacci Retracement level at $100,000.

BTC formed a rising wedge and bearish divergence

The weekly chart indicates that the Bitcoin price has formed a rising wedge chart pattern, characterized by two converging trendlines that are rising. These two lines are nearing their confluence, indicating a potential bearish breakout.

At the same time, oscillators like the Relative Strength Index and the MACD have formed a bearish divergence pattern as they have moved downwards, as it kept rising. These two patterns also indicate further downside in the coming weeks.

Bitcoin and Ethereum Prices Wobble Fight ETF Outflows

by admin September 27, 2025

Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) experienced significant price instability on Friday, September 26, with Bitcoin and ETH breaking below key support levels of $110,000 and $4000, respectively before reclaiming it.

In the past 24 hours, Ethereum (ETH) has gained 3.82%, climbing to $4,050 with a market cap of $488.8 billion. Bitcoin (BTC) also edged higher, up 0.39% to $109,983, holding a market cap above $2.19 trillion, according to CoinMarketCap. Despite the uptick, trading volumes for both assets declined, signaling that broader market sentiment remains cautious.

Bitcoin ETF outflows

The recent price correction for Bitcoin has accelerated, with the asset dropping below the $110,000 level. This movement coincides with significant selling pressure from institutional investors. According to market data from analytics platform SoSoValue show that the US Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded outflows of $258 million on Thursday.

Ethereum follows suit

Ethereum has mirrored Bitcoin’s downturn, experiencing similar price instability. The market for the second-largest cryptocurrency saw investor withdrawals totaling $251 million from its own spot ETF products.

ETH ETFs Inflow Chart September 25 Source: SoSoValue

The combined outflow of over $500 million signals a widespread “risk-off” sentiment among institutional players, suggesting they are reducing their exposure to digital assets in anticipation of further volatility.

This trend suggests that large-scale investors are actively reducing their exposure to digital assets in anticipation of further market volatility. The current downturn follows a period of instability where Bitcoin recently lost key support levels, while ETH’s supply on centralized exchanges has hit its lowest point since 2016.

The Crypto Fear and Greed Index dropped to 32 (Fear), down from a neutral 41 yesterday, according to CoinMarketCap. The shift reflects growing investor anxiety after weeks of ETF outflows and weak technical signals, marking one of the lowest sentiment levels since March’s “extreme fear” reading.

The substantial outflows from institutional investment products mark a clear shift in market sentiment, acting as the primary driver for the current weakness in Bitcoin and Ethereum prices. Continued withdrawals could lead to further price declines in the short term unless there is a significant improvement in overall market confidence. For now, investor caution appears to be shaping the immediate future of the digital asset market.
