DOGE ETF To Launch as First US Fund to Hold Asset With ‘No Utility’

by admin September 10, 2025

In brief

  • Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas calls Rex-Osprey DOJE the first US ETF to hold an asset with “no utility on purpose.”
  • ETF filed under the Investment Company Act of 1940 instead of the Securities Act of 193, like other crypto ETF filings.
  • Initial institutional adoption is initially, but market cap growth could attract attention, Decrypt was told.

A first-of-its-kind Dogecoin exchange-traded fund is set to hit U.S. markets on Thursday, with Bloomberg’s Eric Balchunas flagging the Rex-Osprey Doge ETF (ticker: DOJE) as the launch vehicle.

“Pretty sure this is first-ever U.S. ETF to hold something that has no utility on purpose,” Balchunas tweeted Tuesday, announcing the fund’s debut.

The fund is expected to list using the Investment Company Act of 1940 framework that REX-Osprey previously used for its SOL + Staking ETF (SSK), rather than the Securities Act of 1933 path used by commodity-style grantor trusts.

Ganesh Mahidhar, investment professional at Further Ventures, told Decrypt that “ETFs under the Investment Company Act of 1940 have mandates around diversification and more governance requirements broadly, as compared to those launched under the 1933 securities act.”

“In a way, regulating it under the 1940 act provides more investor protection and imposes a registered investment structure on the SPV offering it,” he added.

He explained this framework “demarcates the ETF as being more similar to stock and bond ETFs as compared to the BTC ETF, which resembles a commodity ETF.”

However, the meme coin classification raises questions about whether similar approvals await other similar cryptos.

Dogecoin “follows the proof of work consensus, same as BTC,” and “has a floor in terms of the power being consumed to produce it,” Mahidhar noted.

“This separates Dogecoin from Shiba Inu and Pepe, which run on proof of stake and ‘don’t have the same baseline,’ making them more vulnerable due to ‘lack of utility,’ though Mahidhar noted app-chain and layer-2 projects could still push gaming or gambling use cases.”

Institutional portfolios are “unlikely to touch the ETFs at this stage,” but if their market cap becomes significant, “there is a possibility that some attention goes to them,” he said.

“What matters more is their price action and volatility in this case, and an eventual utility if such does happen,” the investment professional added.

The listing comes as over 90 crypto ETF proposals await SEC decisions, including pending applications for Solana and XRP funds with deadlines extending into October.

REX Shares has also filed for multiple crypto ETFs in January, including Trump, BONK, and additional Dogecoin products, just days after Gary Gensler departed from the SEC.

On the crowded SEC docket, Mahidhar added he’s a “firm believer” that ETFs are the universal wrapper and sees no reason “any such ETF should not be accepted” as markets migrate from cash-flow to liquidity-based value concepts.

DOGE is changing hands for around $0.24, up 1.4% on the day and 11.7% on the week, according to CoinGecko.

XRP could hit $4-5 if ETF approvals unlock liquidity, experts say

by admin September 10, 2025

Experts explain why the XRP’s ETF decision is key for the token, especially when it comes to attracting institutions

Summary

  • XRP recently broke above the $3 psychological resistance
  • Experts explain how XRP spot ETF approval could propel it to new ATH

XRP (XRP) has recently broken the psychological level of $3, thanks largely to enthusiasm over the upcoming decision on the spot XRP ETF. According to several analysts who shared their views with crypto.news, this decision could propel the token to a new all-time high, even beyond $4.

Shawn Young, Chief Analyst at MEXC, points out that traders are increasingly rotating into altcoins. This especially affects those who are seen to be next in line for ETF approvals, and XRP is one of them.

Solana, Dogecoin, and XRP are showing relative strength against the flat broader crypto market as speculation around near-term ETF approvals fuels outsized buying,” Shawn Young, MEXC.

According to Lionel Iruk, senior advisor to Nav Markets and managing partner at Empire Legal, ETF approvals are key. He explains that this is part of a broader transition from retail speculation to more regulated offerings.

“An ETF wrapper unlocks more than fresh liquidity — it provides the compliance, custody, and transparency frameworks that traditional investors often require before making any investment decision,” Lionel Iruk, Nav Markets.

Whale accumulation could propel XRP toward $4 to $5

Arthur Azizov, Founder & Investor at B2 Ventures, points out the $600 million in XRP accumulated by whales in recent weeks. This signals that traders are confident about the upcoming approval of an XRP ETF. In this context, a move toward $4.00 is realistic, he stated.

The token has surpassed the $3.00 psychological level with volumes nearly three times above normal, which tells me big money is active,” Arthur Azizov B2 Ventures.

According to the B2BinPay analytics team, options data also shows that traders are bullish toward XRP, with calls trading significantly higher than puts.

“This clearly reflects optimism around U.S. ETF approvals later this year. If even one product is eventually greenlit, inflows could push XRP toward the $4–$5 range by the end of the year,” B2BinPay analytics team.

Breaking: Major DOGE ETF Delayed, But Upcoming Launch Keeps Meme Coin in Green Territory

by admin September 10, 2025

  • First Dogecoin ETF
  • Dogecoin’s resilience

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has delayed making a decision on Bitwise’s Dogecoin exchange-traded fund (ETF).

Bitwise, the world’s leading cryptocurrency index fund manager, originally filed to launch the ETF back in January. The product is meant to offer investors direct exposure to the leading meme cryptocurrency by market cap.

It is worth noting that the review period for such applications usually spans a total of 240 days, meaning that the delay does not mean that the product will eventually be rejected by the SEC.

Grayscale, the leading cryptocurrency asset manager, also filed for a Dogecoin ETF.

First Dogecoin ETF

Meanwhile, the very first Dogecoin ETF is set to go live on Sept. 11. The launch of Rex-Osprey DOGE ETF (DOJE) will mark a significant milestone for the meme coin’s institutional adoption, potentially kicking off a new era of cryptocurrency investment.

However, it is worth noting that this is not a typical DOGE ETF since it will not offer direct exposure to the leading meme coin. Instead, the product relies on the 40 Act structure to avoid the typical approval process. Investors will gain exposure to a Cayman Island-based subsidiary that holds the meme coin via various instruments.

Earlier this year, as reported by U.Today, a Solana ETF with a similar structure was also rolled out by Rex-Osprey.

Dogecoin’s resilience

Despite the snub, Dogecoin is currently one of the major altcoins that are in the green. It is up by 0.8%, with its market cap currently sitting at $4.25 billion.

The launch of the first DOGE ETF is already a huge deal for the meme coin world, which explains why DOGE is outperforming Bitcoin.

Crypto Investment Products See $352M Outflows as ETF Filings Surge

by admin September 8, 2025

Digital asset markets faced mounting pressure last week as institutional investors pulled back sharply. According to James Butterfill from CoinShares, digital asset investment products recorded $352 million in outflows.

According to the chart, a trend emerged even as weaker U.S. payroll figures raised hopes for a September interest rate cut, which usually boosts investor confidence. Trading volumes also dropped 27% week over week, indicating a cooling appetite for digital assets.

However, sentiment remains intact. Year-to-date inflows stand at $35.2 billion, which is 4.2% higher on an annualized basis compared to last year’s $48.5 billion.

Bitcoin Leads Inflows as Ethereum Faces Heavy Outflows

With $440 million in outflows, the United States stood out among the other countries. Hong Kong and Germany, on the other hand, maintained their position and brought in new investments of $8.1 million and $85.1 million. Despite the difficulties facing the market as a whole, Bitcoin managed to hold its own, generating $524 million in net inflows.

On the other hand, Ethereum faced heavy pressure. It saw $912 million pulled out over seven straight trading days, with withdrawals coming from several different investment products. Despite this, Ethereum’s total inflows for the year remain solid at $11.2 billion.

In the meantime, alternative assets like Solana and XRP continued to grow. Solana has seen 21 consecutive weeks of inflows, racking up a total of $1.16 billion, while XRP marked with $1.22 billion during the same timeframe.

Grayscale Pushes for Chainlink ETF as ETF Market Booms

Zach Rynes reported on X that Grayscale has filed an S-1 with the U.S. SEC to launch a spot Chainlink ETF. This move would convert the existing Grayscale Chainlink Trust ($GLNK), which has $28 million AUM, into a fully regulated ETF. Bitwise submitted its own S-1 for a LINK ETF in August.

Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas highlighted the momentum, stating,

“ETFs crack $800b in YTD flows, that’s a breathtaking $5b/day pace… on pace to hit about $1.2T this year, a new record.”

Rising ETF activity shows increasing institutional interest, even as short-term outflows highlight investor caution in volatile crypto markets.

First-Ever Dogecoin ETF Could Send DOGE Price Toward $0.30 Breakout

by admin September 8, 2025

Probably the most popular meme coin, Dogecoin (DOGE), is about to do a “first ever” trick again, into territory no meme coin has ever reached before as the Dogecoin ETF looks set to launch this week.

Behind it is Rex-Osprey, which filed for a DOGE ETF under the ticker DOJE previously this year, and according to Nate Geraci, the approval now looks imminent with the next two months shaping up to be extra important for crypto ETFs.

You Might Also Like

The new fund will hold Dogecoin directly while also using derivatives such as futures and swaps to manage exposure, with a mandate that requires at least 80% of net assets to remain tied to the meme coin.

At the same time, managers left themselves room to tap into other crypto ETFs if needed, a flexible structure that mirrors Bitcoin and Ethereum products but is still unprecedented for DOGE.

Dogecoin (DOGE) price under microscope

On Crypto Twitter, the reaction was instant. Unipcs, widely known as “Bonk Guy” after making his fortune on a leveraged BONK long, pointed to the timing and pulled up a price chart that shows DOGE building pressure under a descending trendline.

The price has been at $0.228 with a 6% daily push, the RSI is around 55 and the wedge formation puts $0.25 and $0.30 as breakout lines above, while $0.20 sits as the main support to watch. The setup looks like a textbook squeeze just as the ETF headlines begin to circulate. The narrative in such situations is like the last piece of the puzzle.

You Might Also Like

Whether DOJE attracts strong inflows like Bitcoin or Ethereum ETFs is the main question, but the listing itself signals another step in crypto’s shift toward mainstream packaging. From a joke token to Wall Street-style funds, Dogecoin’s path keeps surprising the market — and this week could mark its most unlikely milestone imaginable.

XRP price Murrey Math Lines indicate surge ahead of ETF approvals

by admin September 7, 2025

XRP price remains in a bear market after plummeting by 22% from its highest point this year. Still, its strong technicals and the upcoming ETF deadlines signal a potential rebound.

Summary

  • XRP price is preparing for a breakout as a falling wedge forms.
  • Murrey Math Lines tool points to a surge to $4.2.
  • XRP ETF approvals to be the main catalyst.

Murrey Math Lines point to XRP price rising

The daily timeframe chart suggests that the Ripple (XRP) price may be poised for a strong rebound this month. It has formed a falling wedge pattern whose two falling trendlines are nearing their convergence.

The coin has also settled at the strong pivot reverse level of the Murrey Math Lines (MML). MML is a tool used to identify potential support and resistance levels. It was created by dividing the price movement into an eight-part grid or octave.

The strong, pivot, and reverse, where it settled at is known for rebounds. Most importantly, it coincided with the double-bottom pattern at $2.7167 and the confluence of the falling wedge pattern.

Therefore, the double-bottom, falling wedge, and the MML position point to a strong rebound. The initial target level in case of a breakout is the year-to-date high of $3.6512, up by 30% above the current level.

The Murrey Math Lines points to an eventual rebound to $4.29, the extreme overshoot, which is about 55% above the current level. However, a drop below the ultimate support at $2.34 will invalidate the bullish XRP price forecast.

XRP ETF approvals to be the key catalyst

The main catalyst for the XRP price will be the upcoming deadlines for the XRP ETFs. Most of these deadlines will be in October, and Polymarket data shows that the odds of an approval are over 88%.

Therefore, investors will likely buy the coin ahead of the approvals as they expect strong inflows. Besides, recent data shows that the existing futures-based XRP ETFs are having strong demand from investors.

The same is happening in the futures market, where the open interest for CME contracts has jumped in the past few weeks. Most importantly, existing Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) ETFs have had robust inflows since last year, meaning that there is strong demand for these assets.

First Dogecoin ETF ‘Coming Soon’: REX-Osprey Teases Launch

by admin September 5, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

REX Shares says it’s preparing to list what it calls the first US Dogecoin ETF, teasing the product on X even as multiple spot DOGE ETF applications remain pending at the Securities and Exchange Commission. Via X, REX Shares wrote on Wednesday: “The REX-Osprey™ DOGE ETF, DOJE, is coming soon! DOJE will be the first ETF to deliver investors exposure to the performance of the iconic memecoin, Dogecoin. From REX-Osprey™, the team behind $SSK, the first SOL + Staking ETF.”

The product traces back to a January 21, 2025 SEC filing for a suite of crypto funds under the ETF Opportunities Trust, which included a REX-Osprey DOGE ETF alongside BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, BONK and TRUMP-token funds. In that registration, the DOGE fund’s mandate is explicit: it “seeks investment results, before fees and expenses, that correspond to the performance of Dogecoin.”

Can REX-Osprey Launch Their Dogecoin ETF First?

The apparent paradox—how REX can “launch” a DOGE ETF while spot Dogecoin ETPs are still in the SEC queue—comes down to structure. Most DOGE proposals on file are commodity-based grantor trusts or similar vehicles that require an exchange rule change under the Securities Exchange Act (a so-called 19b-4) before they can list.

Bitwise, for example, filed to list a Dogecoin ETF on NYSE Arca through that pathway, and Nasdaq has a pending proposal to list the 21Shares Dogecoin ETF. By contrast, REX’s DOGE product sits inside a 1940-Act open-end ETF trust, which registers under the Investment Company Act via a post-effective amendment (Form 485(a)) and, if the registration goes effective and an exchange accepts the listing under its generic ETF standards, can come to market without waiting on a bespoke 19b-4 order.

That is the same playbook REX and Osprey used to bring their Solana + Staking ETF to market in July. Basically, the structure is similar to how futures ETFs work.

The January prospectus also explains how exposure works. The DOGE fund will invest “at least 80%” of assets in Dogecoin or instruments providing DOGE exposure and may use “derivatives,” including futures and swaps. Like REX-Osprey’s other single-coin funds, it relies on a wholly owned Cayman subsidiary—the “REX-Osprey DOGE (Cayman) Portfolio S.P.”—to hold certain positions; the parent ETF’s investment in that sub is capped at 25% of total assets to preserve regulated investment company (RIC) tax treatment.

In plain terms, it’s a ‘40-Act ETF that aims to mirror DOGE’s price, using a mix of direct exposure (including via the Cayman sub) and, where available, derivatives.

Meanwhile, the “traditional” spot DOGE race is active but unresolved. NYSE Arca’s filing for a Bitwise Dogecoin ETF and Nasdaq’s proposal for a 21Shares Dogecoin ETF are both on the public docket, and Grayscale submitted an S-1 to list a Dogecoin fund in mid-August. Those products would be commodity ETPs requiring an exchange rule change before trading can begin—hence the longer timeline.

Notably, there is also a clear precedent for REX finding a regulatory niche: on July 2, 2025, the REX-Osprey Solana + Staking ETF (ticker SSK) listed on Cboe as a ‘40-Act fund that passes through native staking rewards to shareholders. Cboe’s own listing page describes it succinctly: the fund seeks the performance of Solana “plus staking rewards associated with the Reference Asset.”

REX’s release heralded it as “the first US-listed ETF to give investors exposure to Solana… plus staking rewards” in brokerage accounts. That was possible because the assets and mechanics fit within a ‘40-Act ETF framework augmented by a Cayman subsidiary and—in SSK’s early months—a C-corp tax wrapper that has since been converted to RIC status.

The parallels—up to a point—are real. REX is again using the ‘40-Act ETF chassis, the ETF Opportunities Trust umbrella and Cayman subs to pursue single-coin exposure without waiting for a new 19b-4 approval. But an important difference is technical and conclusive: Dogecoin is a proof-of-work cryptocurrency (merged-mined with Litecoin), so there is no native staking yield to pass through.

As for timing and status, REX’s X post is a teaser, not a notice of effectiveness. The January 21 filing is a subject-to-completion prospectus; the SEC must allow the registration to go effective, and an exchange must accept the listing.

Separately, the SEC is also weighing “generic” listing standards for commodity- and crypto-based ETPs—rules that, if adopted, could streamline new crypto listings generally—though those proposals are independent of REX’s ‘40-Act path. In short, REX can plausibly be first precisely because it isn’t waiting on a DOGE-specific 19b-4 approval, but the fund still needs its registration to clear and a listing venue to post a trading date.

At press time, DOGE traded at $0.2165.

Can Bitcoin ETF Flows Save BTC From Its September Curse?

by admin September 4, 2025

In brief

  • Bitcoin dipped 1.3% below $110,000 but recorded strong ETF inflows of $633 million over two consecutive days—the best performance since early August.
  • Long-term Bitcoin holders are moving their coins into ETFs in what an analyst calls an unusual redistribution pattern.
  • Market sentiment remains cautious with 65% of prediction market users expecting Bitcoin to fall to $105,000 before reaching $125,000.

Bitcoin has lost steam, falling 1.3% and just below $110,000 Thursday morning, but ETF flows have been strong, and that may be the key to BTC escaping another Red September, an analyst told Decrypt.

CryptoQuant blockchain analyst JA_Maartun said market data shows that Bitcoin in longterm holder wallets has been steadily moving into ETFs.

Source: Cryptoquant/JA_Maartun

“Visually, the chart makes it clear that there is a major redistribution taking place: Bitcoin is moving from long-term holders into new addresses managed by ETFs,” he told Decrypt. “As ETFs create demand, supply is being provided by old holders.”

Bitcoin ETFs, first approved by the SEC in January 2024 after more than a decade of denials, allow investors to gain exposure to BTC without the need to buy, hold, and store Bitcoin directly, avoiding the complexity of crypto exchanges and wallets. BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF alone now holds over $83 billion in assets under management.

Recently, though, Bitcoin ETFs have been rebounding after lagging compared to Etheruem ETFs. BTC funds have just recorded two consecutive days of inflows exceeding $300 million, totaling $633.3 million across both sessions—the strongest two-day performance since early August.

And if a lot of that is being fueled by longtime HODLers converting their stacks into ETF shares, as Maartunn hypothesizes, it’s pretty unusual.

“This redistribution is quite unique,” he said. “We’ve already seen three such periods—summer 2024, fall 2024, and summer 2025. In previous cycles, this usually happened only once.”

He added that ETF flows could be a strong predictor of whether Bitcoin manages to escape a Red September—even if it did just see a Red August. A month (or any other period time) is considered red if an asset ends at a lower price than it started.

Over the past 12 years, September has been a down month for Bitcoin eight times. But the past three years, the crimson shifted to August, and September was green.

“ETF flows will be decisive,” Maartunn said. “As long as strong new inflows are lacking, I don’t expect anything spectacular. Demand needs to pick up, otherwise there’s a risk that new holders may add selling pressure—either if their average purchase price comes under strain, or simply because too little is happening.”

But there’s other big market players to consider, like Bitcoin treasury companies, according to Rick Maeda, a research analyst at Presto Research. He’s especially interested in ones like Japan’s Metaplanet, which has sworn off ever selling its BTC stash.

“If we do get a Red September I would expect Metaplanet to lean into it, not step back,” he told Decrypt. “They have said they will never sell, and CEO Simon Gerovich has repeated that point. Their acquisition cadence is programmatic. Even after the 25–30% drawdown in Q1, their buys did not slow.”

In the past week, though, Metaplanet has faced headwinds. On Monday, the company’s shareholders approved an $884 million capital raising proposal, although the firm’s stock dropped 60% since mid-June.

During the same meeting, the company announced it had acquired 1,009 BTC for approximately $112.2 million, bringing its treasury to exactly 20,000 Bitcoin. At current prices, the BTC stockpile is worth roughly $2.2 billion.

On Myriad, a prediction market created by Decrypt’s parent company Dastan, users are still skewing pessimistic about which price milestone Bitcoin hits next: $125,000 or $105,000. The odds flipped several times in August, but now show that 65% of users think Bitcoin will drop to$105,000 before it rallies above its all-time high.

And last month, only one in four of the 1,900 investors polled by Binance Australia estimated that Bitcoin will top $150,000 in the next six months.

Half of those polled said that BTC will maintain between $100,000 and $150,000 over the same time period. Half the users—who were polled between the end of July and August 10—told the exchange they intend to increase their Bitcoin holdings.

But there could be a shift in sentiment in two weeks’ time, Gadi Chait, head of investment at Xapo Bank, told Decrypt.

“The Federal Reserve’s September meeting is a dominant macro catalyst,” he said, alluding to the September 16 and 17 Federal Open Markets Committee meeting. “With a potential US rate cut on the horizon, liquidity conditions could ease, increasing demand for risk assets and potentially boosting Bitcoin by 5-10%.”

Outperforms BTC, Poised to Follow Ether’s 200% Rally on ETF and Treasury Demand

by admin September 3, 2025

With bitcoin BTC$112,260.21 stuck just above $110,000 and ether (ETH) consolidating after hitting fresh records, Solana SOL$209.27 has emerged as a standout performer in the crypto market recently.

The token traded around $211 on Monday, up 33% from early August lows, making it one of the best performers in the CoinDesk 20 Index in the past month. Against bitcoin, SOL has gained 34% over the past month, and it has strengthened 14% versus ETH since mid-August.

The rally reflects a broader rotation into altcoins, analysts said.

“The season of profit redistribution among holders of cryptocurrencies continues,” Sergei Gorev, head of risk at YouHodler, said in a market note shared with CoinDesk. He said liquidity has been moving out of BTC into second-tier tokens, with “a noticeable increase in the positive dynamics in capital flows to SOL.”

Such flows could be long-term as corporate investors look for large, liquid projects to hold, Gorev added, naming SOL alongside with XRP XRP$2.8512 as the “next interesting market ideas.”

Jeff Dorman, chief investment officer at Arca, tipped SOL to replicate ether’s turnaround earlier this year. He pointed to Ethereum’s resurgence after stablecoin adoption, strong ETF inflows and the relentless bid from digital asset treasuries, or DATs, helped ETH rally nearly 200% since April.

“SOL appears poised to repeat the exact same playbook that ETH just executed in the coming months,” Dorman wrote in a fresh report.

The first U.S.-listed Solana ETF launched in July, but it was futures-based. Several asset managers, including VanEck and Fidelity, have filed for spot products with decisions due later this year, Dorman said.

Meanwhile, at least three Solana-focused DATs are raising funds that could channel up to $2.65 billion into SOL over the next month, he added.

Solana-focused digital asset treasuries announced (Arca)

At only one-fifth of ETH’s market capitalization, SOL’s price could be even more reactive to the flows if they materialize.

“SOL might be the most obvious long right now,” Dorman said. “If the price of ETH rose almost 200% on roughly $20 billion of new demand, what do you think happens to SOL on $2.5 billion or more of new demand?”

Recent news could also add to the momentum. Nasdaq-listed digital asset conglomerate Galaxy Digital tokenized its shares on Solana, while the approval of the Alpenglow upgrade promises to improve transaction speed and finality.

Grayscale Launches Ethereum Covered Call ETF as Money Rushes Into ETH Funds

by admin September 3, 2025

Grayscale, the world’s largest digital asset investment manager, has launched a new exchange-traded fund that ties into ether's (ETH) recent market momentum.

The Grayscale Ethereum Covered Call ETF (ETCO) began trading Thursday, offering exposure to ether with an options-writing strategy designed to generate steady income.

The launch comes as ether, the native token of the Ethereum blockchain, has outperformed bitcoin (BTC) in 2025, rising 34% year-to-date versus BTC's 20%

Behind the gains is renewed retail and institutional interest, evidenced in August by surging inflows into the spot ETH ETFs that dwarfed those which headed into the BTC funds.

Wall Street firms have increasingly adopted the blockchain to streamline processes in their trading and settlement systems, creating a flow of capital into the asset that has lifted demand across both spot and derivative markets.

ETCO aims to capture that interest while providing a buffer against volatility. The fund systematically sells call options on Ethereum-linked exchange-traded products such as the Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHE) and Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust ETF (ETH). The premiums generated from those options are distributed to shareholders on a bi-weekly basis, making ETCO an “income-first” strategy that may appeal to investors seeking cash flow.

“Grayscale Ethereum Covered Call ETF is designed to complement an investor’s existing Ethereum exposure by adding an income component,” said Krista Lynch, senior vice president of ETF capital markets at Grayscale.

Covered call strategies are common in equities, where they help investors monetize volatility while potentially reducing downside risk. Grayscale is applying the same logic to crypto markets, where ether’s price swings and liquidity create opportunities for option premiums.

The fund’s primary goal is generating current income, with a secondary aim of capturing ether-linked returns. By writing call options close to the spot price, ETCO seeks to turn the token’s volatility — which often deters traditional investors — into a source of yield.

This product joins a growing line of income-focused crypto funds at Grayscale, which already includes the Bitcoin Covered Call ETF (BTCC) and the Premium Income ETF (BPI).
