TRENDING RUMORS

– Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee is contemplating a move to Serie A side Como in January, with Juventus also interested, according to The Sun. No agreement has been reached yet with either Italian side, but United are open to either a loan or permanent move when the window opens on Jan. 1. Zirkzee, 24, has been at United for just 14 months after joining for €42.5 million from Bologna under Erik ten Haag’s tenure, but he has found game time hard to come by under new boss Ruben Amorim, as all of his appearances this season have come from the bench. Como boss Cesc Fabregas sees the Netherlands international as the perfect profile for the Serie A side, while Juve could reignite previous interest from the summer.

– Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté could now stay at Liverpool, despite reports suggesting a free transfer to Real Madrid is on the cards when his contract expires next summer. L’Equipe says that talks over a new deal at Anfield are edging towards an agreement, with the 26-year-old France international free to talk to non-English clubs from January. However, it appears that Konate wants to continue playing under Arne Slot, and that though a number of points are yet to be agreed, his stay is likely.

But, playing against players five years older than him, he could start against Saudi Arabia in Nigeria’s next game.

– Manchester United and Tottenham are leading Fulham in the race for Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney, according to TEAMtalk. Hackney, 23, starred for Boro last season and has started the new campaign where he left off, with one goal and two assists as his side top the Championship by four points. The England U21 international attracted interest during the summer but no official bid was received, though that could change in January.

– With speculation mounting over the future of Ruben Amorim at Manchester United, Bournemouth are moving quickly in an attempt to get boss Andoni Iraola to sign a new deal beyond 2026 to fend off any interest from Old Trafford. TalkSPORT claims that the unbeaten Cherries are intensifying talks with the 43-year-old manager after an impressive start to the season, which sees them sit sixth in the table despite losing a host of key players in the summer.

Only ‘two percent’ of Escape from Tarkov players may get to see its best ending

by admin September 28, 2025

Escape from Tarkov players may finally get the chance to escape from the fictional war-torn city in northwest Russia, but it won’t be easy. During a live Q&A at Tokyo Game Show, Nikita Buyanov, the game’s director, told the audience that there will be four endings that players can achieve, which will be determined by the playthrough’s completion and progression. Buyanov added that the “best ending” will be “really hard” and “not everyone will escape from Tarkov.”

“I think it will be something around two percent of all of the player base,” Buyanov said of how many players the team expects to reach the toughest ending. “It will be really challenging, and you can treat it as an achievement of your life to finally escape from Tarkov.”

After being in beta for more than eight years, Escape from Tarkov is scheduled for a 1.0 release, along with its debut on Steam. Even after the November release, Buyanov said that the team still has a ton of content planned for the game’s future over the next five years. Much of the new content is still being kept under wraps, as is whether or not the developer plans to do another wipe before the official release that would reset player progression.

Buyanov said during the Q&A that there will be seasonal characters subject to typical wipes, along with a permanent main character that can retain progress indefinitely. As for whether the current state of the game will see another wipe before the November release, Buyanov posted on X that a decision hasn’t been made yet but that the team is leaning towards “probably no wipe.”

Escape From Tarkov’s Steam release comes with a snag for people who already own it

by admin September 18, 2025

It’s that time of the year folks. The weather’s getting colder, the days are getting shorter, and Escape From Tarkov is getting Tweeted and Skeeted about again because of a controversial decision. This time, it’s because the game is coming to Steam, which in and of itself is a perfectly fine, perhaps even smart thing to do. The thing that’s being called into question however, is the answer to a question on the Steam release’s FAQ page about whether or not you’ll have to buy it again.

“To play Escape from Tarkov through Steam, you must purchase any edition of the game on Steam,” the FAQ page explains. “You can then link your existing Battlestate Games account with an active copy of the game to your Steam profile. If the editions differ, it will automatically use the higher edition of the two when launching the game through Steam.”

It then provides an example, noting that if you buy the standard edition on Steam, but your Battlestate Games account has the Unheard Edition, that’s the one you’ll be able to play on Steam. That’s… something? I just can’t see any particular reason you’d want to buy the game again aside from Steam Deck functionality, except the FAQ also notes that “Battlestate Games [have] no plans to support a version of the game for Steam Deck,” so you can throw that reason out of the window. There will be Steam achievements if that’s something you care about?

All of your character progress will carry over to the Steam version of the game as well, once you’ve linked your Battlestate Games account, and you’ll still be playing on the same servers as people who bought the game on its official website.

I have no idea how easy it would be to guarantee every single person who owns the game a copy on Steam as well, but it still feels like an odd choice in general. In any case, after being in early access for close to a decade, the full version of the game launches in a couple months’ time on November 15th.

Escape From Tarkov On Steam Will Require A Separate Purchase

by admin September 16, 2025

Escape from Tarkov, arguably one of the most hardcore extraction shooters out there, is finally making its way to Steam. The game has previously lived in perpetual beta status, but now the highly anticipated 1.0 release is expected this November. You can’t buy it on Steam just yet, though the listing is up and you can wishlist it. But, as some are learning, if you have already been a long-time Tarkov player and are hoping to consolidate your game library under Valve’s launcher or make use of Steam’s social features, you won’t just be able to download the game on Steam and connect your Battlestate Games account. You’ll have to pay for the game a second time.

Like with many things involving Tarkov, this is all a little confusing, if not intimidating. So let’s break it down.

The Steam page for EFT went public today, with a release date of “coming soon.” Meanwhile, a FAQ on EFT’s official website lists some potentially disappointing news for some: “To play Escape from Tarkov through Steam, you will need to link a Battlestate Games account to your Steam account.” This is hardly unique to EFT’s arrival on Steam, as other games, such as Final Fantasy XIV and, more recently, Star Wars Outlaws, that have previously launched elsewhere and later come out on Steam typically have not supported a “cross-buy” situation. Still, this news has left a sour taste for many, with fans chiming in on social media to suggest the game is likely to get review bombed upon release and that it just feels silly, greedy even.

The same FAQ page states that if you previously purchased any of the more expensive versions of the game, a newly purchased Steam copy “will automatically use the higher edition of the two when launching the game” once you’ve linked your accounts. So, technically speaking, if playing on Steam is a must, and you’ve purchased a more expensive version of EFT in the past, you should only buy the base edition on Steam when it goes live.

The Steam FAQ page also contains some other potentially upsetting information: There are currently no plans for EFT to support the Steam Deck and Family Sharing is a no-go. Plus, the system requirements, as seen on the Steam page, are pretty steep. Recommended specs include 64GB (!!) of RAM and a 4070.

Escape from Tarkov’s main extraction mode will finally emerge from beta status on November 15, 2025, after nearly a decade in development. But it’s not the only mode that EFT has on offer.

As an extraction shooter, Tarkov features PvP elements that see both bots and players on a live multiplayer map, though the main game loop is all about getting in, looting, surviving, and extracting. Two years ago, however, BSG released EFT: Arena as a standalone solution for those who wanted to experience the tactical shooter in a competitive environment. Though Arena uses the same EFT account to share rank and stats, and is available for purchase individually on the Epic Games Store right now, this mode does not have a Steam listing.

So while needing to buy the game a second time if you desperately need to play might be a bummer, it’s worth noting that you can just add non-Steam games to the Steam launcher. That said, given that you’ll still need a BSG account and your previous purchases of the more expensive editions will carry over, some are wondering why BSG can’t just allow the base version to carry over with a download of the launcher through Steam.

The protagonist of Hollow Knight Silksong, Hornet, looks up at a crowd of bugs suspended from the ceiling in web

Those years of Silksong memes were no joke: Even Borderlands 4 can’t escape its shadow after their first weekends on Steam

by admin September 16, 2025

The weekend after launch is often when games hit their all-time peak Steam concurrents (at least until a big sale or special update), and Borderlands 4 managed to hit 304,398 on Sunday, according to SteamDB’s record keeping.

It’s an impressive achievement for Gearbox’s $70 co-op shooter, but if it puts Borderlands 4 somewhere in the stratosphere, then Hollow Knight: Silksong must be mingling with the aurora borealis, having hit 587,150 concurrent Steam players on the Saturday after it launched.

Those numbers put Borderlands 4 at #46 on the list of all-time highest Steam concurrent peaks, just below Elden Ring Nightreign, and Silksong all the way up at #17, sandwiched between Apex Legends and Path of Exile 2.

Related articles

I don’t like to fixate too much on Steam concurrents as a measure of popularity, as they don’t tell the whole story, but they are one of few direct windows into what gamers are doing that we have, and this particular figure underlines just how colossal of a success Silksong has been.

The rest of the story in this case includes the detail that Silksong is much cheaper than Borderlands 4—$20 vs $70—which helps explain why it was able to attract a greater number of Steam players (and why Borderlands 4 is the one at the top of Steam’s best sellers chart, which is based on revenue). Silksong is also a game that should run on just about anything, including a Steam Deck, whereas Borderlands 4 has fairly demanding minimum specs and launched with frame rate and stuttering problems.

On the flip side, though, Silksong is available on Game Pass, while Borderlands 4 isn’t. Last we heard, Game Pass has more than 35 million subscribers. That’s 35 million people who can play Silksong without buying it on Steam, and the subscription service has in the past been blamed for limiting the retail success of games on it. Yet industry analyst GameDiscoverCo estimates that the 2D action platformer has sold 3.2 million copies on the platform so far.

Part of me thought that all those years of memey pining for Silksong—flooding the comments in every gaming showcase with demands for a trailer—were just a passionate but moderately-sized fanbase having some fun. It turns out there really was a Silksong army.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

Looking down on a behemoth like Borderlands from any vantage point is quite an achievement for an indie series. The first Hollow Knight saw 15 million copies sold, according to a recent Bloomberg report, which is obviously nothing to sneeze at, but 94 million copies of Borderlands games had been sold prior to Borderlands 4, according to Take-Two Interactive.

And the Hollow Knight fans were right to anticipate Silksong: We awarded the tough-as-nails indie metroidvania a 90% in our review.

We don’t yet have a review of Borderlands 4, but it’s on the way, and critics who received advanced copies have mostly liked it. In the meantime, we do have lots of Borderlands 4 guides to offer. (Don’t tell the cool kids with their bug game, but Borderlands 4 is more my thing, so that’s where my personal contribution to these numbers lies.)

Anker’s USB-C to Dual HDMI Adapter Hits All-Time Low, Escape the One-Screen Laptop Setup for Almost Free

by admin September 4, 2025

Laptops are miracles of productivity, but they’re limited to just one screen of workspace. Even the big boys with their ultra-sharp 17-inch displays are, well, just one 17-inch display for all of those windows you multitasking mavens want to have open at one time. Reaching the full potential of your laptop or even your tablet requires an extra screen, or maybe even two, and the Anker USB-C to Dual HDMI Adapter is the perfect tool to make that happen. Even better, it’s just $25 right now in a limited-time Amazon deal.

The Anker USB-C to Dual HDMI Adapter requires no extra software or drivers, just plug-and-play with any compatible laptop or tablet with an USB-C port. Windows laptops can be extended to two additional 4K monitors either in mirror mode, with all three screens showing the same image, or extended desktop mode with A-B-B or A-B-C configuration. MacOS laptops can extend to two additional 4K monitors in mirror mode or A-B-B extended desktop mode. Smartphones with a USB-C port can also be connected to a dual-HDMI display.

See at Amazon

Huge Configuration Potential

While the Anker USB-C to Dual HDMI Adapter can definitely be thought of as an ideal laptop-to-external monitor device, its capabilities don’t end there. On the USB-C source side of the adapter, compatible tablets and smartphones are also just a plug-and-play connection away from being mirrored onto a much-larger screen. That screen isn’t just limited to HDMI-compatible external monitors, either. TVs and projectors with an HDMI input port are also accessible to your USB-C devices, and without the need for a driver or app.

The potential use for these connections is nearly limitless. The productivity boost of going from one small screen to one small screen and two large 4K screens is obvious. But now instead of having to pass your smartphone or tablet from person to person to show off those pictures and videos you shot on vacation, you can connect your compatible USB-C device to an external monitor, big-screen TV, or projector and put on a show.

Pocket-Sized Power

We’ve seen hubs and ports that, while powerful and versatile, are large and/or requiring their own source of AC power. The Anker USB-C to Dual HDMI Adapter is anything but bulky. It’s 2 inches by 2.5 inches in size — smaller than a credit card — and just under a half-inch thick. The adapter’s weight is negligible at 1.7 ounces, so you can stick it on your pocket or laptop bag and bring it out anywhere there’s a HDMI-compatible display at the ready.

The Anker name that’s so trusted for charging devices is also a sign of quality for this multi-device adapter. Anker covers the USB-C to Dual HDMI Adapter with a worry-free 18-month warranty should anything go wrong. Amazon’s limited-time deal makes this a $25 accessory that guarantees you’ll never look at working on one small screen the same way again.

Delays to escape the shadow of a launch like Silksong are about way more than just day 1 players: ‘Every game has to fight and use whatever edge they’ve got available to stay visible’

by admin September 2, 2025

The number of games that have scurried away from Silksong’s surprise September 4 launch date in the past week have given it the air of a mini GTA 6: an event seemingly so all-consuming that no game stands a chance of competing. But what does competing mean, exactly, when the game in question is a 2D platformer sequel with a cult-like following?

Of the delayed games, you can easily see why 2D adventure RPG Faeland would be sweating; same with metroidvania sequel Aeterna Lucis. But what about the games that are less obviously aimed at the same exact players? Shouldn’t they be fine even if Silksong’s a mega hit, considering there are more PC gamers than ever?

“You can go to the likes of GameDiscoverCo and look at data for past high-performing titles with similar release dates until your corneas crumple to try and discern the material effects of ‘audience overlap,'” says Brian Kwek, the head of Demonschool’s indie publisher Ysbryd Games. On Monday, Kwek was the one who posted that “after much anguished consideration,” Demonschool was being delayed to November 19 to give it a better shot at success. He elaborated on that decision-making process for PC Gamer to explain how much rides on getting a release date right beyond where players will dedicate their time first.

Related articles

“With Demonschool and Silksong both being multi-platform simultaneous releases, we have to consider more than ‘just’ the Steam algorithm, so this ultimately requires us to consider the impact of Silksong on the console gamer audience and how they’re hearing about games like Demonschool through broader coverage from content creators and press,” Kwek says. Streamers are a key avenue for indie games like Demonschool to get noticed, and as with other Ysbryd published games like World of Horror, it’s more likely to be noticed by “variety” streamers who bounce between games rather than focusing on a particular genre or live service titan.

“Unless said creator is known to be a fiend for Shin Megami Tensei or tactics games, we would directly have to compete against Silksong for those creators’ time and attention,” Kwek says. “Ultimately, at least for the first week of Silksong’s release, we think a good majority of creators/streamers and press are going to feel incentivized to meet the demand for Silksong discourse. Even if it’s just a week, that’s a week that Demonschool—or any game still holding on to the September 3/4 release date—would have been cut off from building their own critical mass of discourse about their own game. I think that can be fatal in this saturated market, where every game has to fight and use whatever edge they’ve got available to stay visible.”

Ysbryd and Demonschool developer Necrosoft Games’ choice of September 3 was based on careful consideration of more than just competing games: it followed the news deluge of Gamescom and PAX West in late August, but predated an extremely busy October that includes the remastered Final Fantasy Tactics, a Steam Next Fest and loads of spooky stuff timed to Halloween.

Despite Steam Next Fest being a prime opportunity for developers to get eyeballs on their upcoming games, it can be “a black hole of visibility for game launches,” Kwek says, “that is maybe almost as deadly (if not more deadly) than launching next to Silksong.”

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

Publishers like Ysbryd know that delays come with their own downsides, though, including disappointing or angering players who had their expectations upended; those reactions make him feel “miserable.” There’s also a load of stress that comes with reaching out to partners like PlayStation, Nintendo and Xbox to see if a last-minute delay is even feasible.

“I’ve spent the last week with my guts twisted up in anxiety when seeing notes from gatekeepers who were one step from telling us ‘no, the release date change actually can’t be done due to policy X,'” he says.

“Of course, marketing plans and activations have to be delayed; if you’ve arranged for streams from content creators who’ve blocked time for you, those all have to be rearranged on their schedules. As I mentioned in our public statement, review keys had gone out to press and creators, who all have to agree to reorganize their time with the game and when to file their stories and video coverage. This delay is a massive inconvenience for nearly everyone involved (and probably took a couple years off my life in the process); if we didn’t see value in pursuing it, we’d have just stayed put!”

Any time a game with a previously announced release date is delayed, you can bet a similar degree of hand-wringing went into the decision, says Adam Lieb, the founder and CEO of game marketing platform Gamesight.

“When I see backlash, I’m like—[the studio] sat in a room and sweated about this for two weeks,” he says. “This is a really important decision, could be the difference between success and failure, and oftentimes it’s a really expensive decision. I think that’s one thing that often isn’t considered by, like, Reddit: You build a game to launch on a certain date, and build to how much it costs to make that game. When I delay a game a month, I have to pay that entire team a whole extra month with zero revenue coming in the door. That’s really fucking expensive.”

And the bigger the game, the costlier the move: triple-A games that buy TV commercial slots or billboards in advance have to pay a fee to move those ads or even forfeit the money altogether.

But there is one more layer to the release-date-delay-decisionmaking dance, and that’s the potential benefit from launching in the afterglow of a big, eyeball-drawing launch.

(Image credit: Sandfall Interactive / Kepler Interactive)

“It’s a pretty well-known phenomenon that when the biggest games of the year launch on Steam everyone makes more money,” Lieb says. “There are just more people on Steam in that window; that’s eyeballs on your stuff, on all the algorithmic ranking pages, people in the desktop app, which can lead to more sales.”

To use a crude blast zone analogy, once you’re outside the ‘ground zero’ radius of a game like Silksong landing, a game going after the same target audience could stand to benefit from its impact.

“You’re getting people who are in the mood for this one thing… when Oblivion [Remastered] came out and Expedition 33 came out, you could say ‘Oblivion’s so huge, nobody’s going to play this other game’—I played them both basically at the same time,” he says. “Oblivion definitely is what got me in an RPG mood, and I stayed in that RPG mood. … Sometimes the competition helps you.”

Launching a game at just the right time seems like it’s about as easy as landing a space shuttle in a driveway while wearing oven mitts. Even when you do your best to plan ahead, there’s always a chance things will go comically wrong. Ysbryd and Necrosoft actually did try to account for the possibility of a Silksong surprise launch at Gamescom or a release date announcement, but figured the latter would be at least a month out.

“In this situation, it’s impossible to know what the ‘right’ answer is,” he says. “I just pray that we are able to do our best to get eyes onto Demonschool with the audiences who’ll dig it!”

Escape from Tarkov is coming to Steam now its full release is imminent, as confirmed by a picture of a random bloke ironing

by admin September 1, 2025

Escape from Tarkov is finally emerging from an early access period that will have lasted nearly a decade, when its full release on November 15th rolls around, and you’ll soon be able to grab it on Steam.

Yep, it’s taken yeaaaaarrrssss. Tarkov’s initial alpha release came on August 4th, 2016, just a few days before No Man’s Sky arrived for the first time, and just after a little game called Stardew Valley dropped. Think about what you were doing back then. I was a teenager, still far from the job-having husk I’ve since morphed into.

Anyway, old feeling aside, Tarkov’s Steam page looks like it’ll drop any day now, after Battlestate Games studio head Nikita Buyanov decided to tweet some things. First there was a gif of an old bloke holding a steaming iron on August 30th, which everyone took as a tease rather than an endorsement for getting the creases out of your favourite top from the FPS developerman. Said FPS developerman was also, er, rather forthright in his reply to someone who responded to that post with accusations of scamming.

Then, the next day, Buyanov dispensed with the pagentry. “Yes! The page on Steam will be available soon. All the details later,” he posted, alongside a picture of said Steam page that’d be easier to dissect if it didn’t have a great big Steam logo slapped on top of it. You know, just in case you don’t know what a Steam page looks like, or had missed him saying that’s where Tarkov’s heading.

Will existing players who want to switch to Steam have to buy it again and start from scratch? That’s what folks in Buyanov’s replies wondered, and he doesn’t look to have provided an answer. Don’t worry, I’m sure everything’ll work out ok.

If it’s been a while since you’ve escaped to Tarkov, cheaters have remained an issue in it over recent years, but it’s still on our top survival games list. Also here’s an excerpt from an article about Craig Pearson hunting down some toilet roll in it:

I stalked the corridors, cracking doors and checking rooms, closing them as I went, because I was taught to be respectful even during an apocalypse. I found piles of crap and burnt-out detritus, but no loo roll. When I discovered a body pile on the roof it was full of worthless military doodads. This is a world with more shotguns than sponge soft shitter sheets.

Here’s hoping he’s located some loo paper in the years since 2020.

Escape from Tarkov is finally coming to Steam ‘soon,’ developer says

by admin August 31, 2025

Following news that Escape from Tarkov is escaping its perpetual beta, the pioneering extraction shooter is also about to make its debut on Steam. Nikita Buyanov, head of the Battlestate Games studio that developed Escape from Tarkov, confirmed on X that the game’s Steam page “will be available soon,” only teasing that the full details will come later.

Buyanov’s confirmation comes less than a day after the developer posted a GIF on X of a man spraying steam from an iron. Earlier this month, Buyanov revealed on X that the looter shooter will get its 1.0 release on November 15, 2025, more than eight years after the beta opened up to players in July 2017, and that the studio has plans to port it to consoles. The Steam page for Escape from Tarkov isn’t live yet, and with only vague details to go off of, longtime fans already have burning questions. Most importantly, existing players are eager to know if they will have to buy the game again on Steam and how this change will affect the ongoing cheating problem.

While we don’t have any answers yet, Battlestate Games recently went into damage control mode when it revealed the Unheard Edition of the game that costs $250 and includes a new PvE mode. This move irked longstanding players who previously purchased another premium edition of the game, called the Edge of Darkness, which promised access to all future DLCs. The controversy boiled down to owners of the Edge of Darkness edition claiming they should have access to the new content, but the studio argued that it isn’t classified as DLC. In the end, Buyanov apologized for the debacle and promised the PvE mode would be available for anyone who purchased the Edge of Darkness package.

Definitive proof? Hardly, even if Buyanov were willing to troll his own playerbase. Fast-forward to today, though – 31st August – and it’s confirmed: Escape from Tarkov is coming to Steam.

The page has yet to go live on Valve’s digital store, so we’re yet to get any of the specific details, but Buyanov shared an image of the Steam logo superimposed on a Steam listing for Escape from Tarkov (see above), and wrote: “Yes!
