Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Enhanced Arrives This August

by admin June 25, 2025

Last month, it was announced that an enhanced version of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II was making its debut on PlayStation 5 alongside Xbox and PC. We now know this updated edition arrives on August 12, and a new trailer details the improvements for the first time.

Formally dubbed Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Enhanced, the game boasts a new 60 frames per second Performance Mode (unavailable on Series S), an enhanced Photo Mode, developer commentary, and the return of the Dark Rot Challenge Mode from the first Hellblade. You can read more about each feature in this Xbox Wire post. Additionally, the game will become Steam Deck verified at launch.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Enhanced will arrive as a free update for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox on PC, and Steam. The Standard Edition of the PS5 version can be purchased for $49.99.

There will also be a Deluxe Edition for $69.99 that includes a PS5-optimized version of the first game, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, along with its original soundtrack. Those who own the PS4 version of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice can upgrade to the PS5 version for free.

Little Nightmares 3 gets October release date and there’s an enhanced edition of the original on the way

by admin June 25, 2025

It’s been an eventful news day for fans of adorably sinister horror series Little Nightmares. Not only has the upcoming third instalment received a 10th October release date on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and – as newly confirmed – Switch 2, publisher Bandai Namco has announced an Enhanced Edition of the original game, and a brand-new VR instalment.

Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, which seems as good a place as any to start, promises a bit of a glow-up for developer Tarsier Studios’ acclaimed 2017 original. This time around, players can experience raincoat-wearing protagonist Six’s strange, dark escape from the mysterious, floating Maw at 4K resolution and 60fps. There’s also talk of “RTX reflections, water effects, more particles, and volumetric lighting”, plus a choice between Quality and Performance modes, depending on whether you prefer to prioritise visuals or framerate.

Bandai Namco has given Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition an official launch date of 10th October, but it’s available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC right now for anyone that pre-orders developer Supermassive Games’ Little Nightmares 3. Switch 2 is also getting the Enhanced Edition, but not until October.

Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition comparison video.Watch on YouTube

As for that VR version, it’s title Little Nightmares: Altered Echoes and… that’s pretty much all we know so far. Bandai Namco is yet to confirm a developer, even the platforms it’s targeting, but we do get a 45-second announcement trailer to tide us over. “Every step echoes closer,” the publisher teases, “does this tune sound familiar, little ones?” Also promising is the newly teased Little Nightmares stop-motion project, which looks eerily beautiful in its brisk reveal trailer, although there’s no hint as to when or even where this might eventually show up. Is it related to the Little Nightmares TV show announced back in 2017? Time will tell.

So to recap: Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition is out now for those that pre-order Little Nightmares 3, otherwise both games launch on 10th October. Little Nightmares: Altered Echoes, meanwhile, exists, and there’s not much else to say. As to what original Little Nightmares developer Tarsier Studios is up to now, having walked away from the series after part 2, that’ll be Reanimal. It’s another kids-in-dark-places horror adventure (but with added co-op) that’s coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC later this year.

Elden Ring Nightreign’s first enhanced boss just dropped out of nowhere, and there’s an extremely useful new NPC too

by admin June 19, 2025

Well, that was unexpected: Elden Ring Nightreign players just discovered the first of the new “enhanced bosses” FromSoftware said were coming this month. Defeating it rewards you with a new currency you can spend on a bunch of extremely useful stuff at a new NPC.

With the shadow-dropped update so fresh, it’s not clear how you unlock the new “Everdark Sovereign” version of Gaping Maw, but I’d assume you need to at least fight and defeat his normal version first.

I couldn’t put a team together in time to go and fight the Everdark Sovereign Gaping Maw boss, but streamer Oroboro was able to take him out alone. It looks like the lightning dragon starts in his second phase and causes a tornado to appear in the arena that you have to avoid.

Surviving the encounter will reward you with a new currency separate from Murk called Sovereign Sigils. You can go spend these at a new NPC in the Roundtable Hold who sells powerful new relics for each character as well as all the skins in the game for what is a relatively cheaper price than what they cost in Murk.

But here’s where it gets even better: This new NPC also lets you pay a small sigil fee to be able to start up any of the Shifting Earth events. Previously, you had to defeat three Nightlords for these things to show up randomly, but now you have direct control over them.

The NPC also lets you pay to receive the alternative version of a relic reward from the Guardian’s remembrance quests and to turn the lights (Site of Grace) back on in the Roundtable Hold’s expedition room to brighten things back up.

FromSoftware has said absolutely nothing about the update, so it’s unclear when we’ll see the other new bosses. We’ll just have to keep an eye on the list to see if it updates over the next few days.

Peter Thiel-Backed ‘Enhanced Olympics’ Is Elaborate Supplement-Selling Scheme: Report

by admin June 18, 2025

Tech billionaires like to paint themselves as contrarian geniuses—guys (pretty much always guys) who see institutions insist that things should be done one way because of silly things like evidence and experience and respond, “I, a person who has zero knowledge or exposure to this thing, know better.” There is perhaps no starker illustration of this mindset than the “Enhanced Games,” an Olympics-like competition with Peter Thiel’s backing that sets aside bans on performance-enhancing drugs and encourages competitors to inject themselves in whatever will make them the best version of themselves. According to a new report from Wired, things are not going quite as planned.

To be clear, the Enhanced Games do appear to be happening. They’re scheduled for May 2026 in Las Vegas, a handful of athletes are on board, and there is funding from the likes of Thiel and Donald Trump Jr.’s 1789 Capital. But behind the scenes, it seems like things have been a bit of a mess.

For example, to promote the games, founder Aron D’Souza put up $1 million for any “enhanced” athlete (read: taking drugs that are banned from other official competitions) to beat the swimming world records for the 100-meter sprint or the 50-meter freestyle. Kristian Gkolomeev, a 31-year-old Olympian from Bulgaria, achieved that goal…but he wasn’t the horse that the Enhanced movement initially backed.

Australian swimmer James Magnussen was supposed to be the poster boy for the games, moving to California to undergo a doping regimen that had him hopped up on testosterone and growth hormones to train his way to a world record. According to Wired, Magnussen actually ended up getting too buff, his muscle mass weighing him down and bulking him up so much that when they gave him his swimsuit—a full-body polyurethane “supersuit” that has been banned from Olympic competition—he ripped it. When he finally got in the water to put the enhanced approach to the test, he posted a time that was 1.2 seconds slower than his own personal best from when he was swimming clean.

Gkolomeev joined the “Enhanced” challenge late, but benefited from a toned-down regimen that made Magnussen too big. He ultimately did set a new world record, though when he tried to replicate it weeks later, after more time on the doping program and his body undergoing more changes, he finished with a slower time. Wired asked both the swimmer and his trainer if he could have beaten the world record without drugs, and both concluded he probably could have. Ah well!

D’Souza—perhaps best known as the guy who led Thiel’s litigation against Gawker—seems to be a true believer in the whole “Enhanced” (read: drugged-up) human movement, and he seems confused as to why no one else gets it. Per Wired, part of the reason he launched his competition was because he had dinner with members of the International Olympic Committee and found them to display “unimpressive” intellect.

But it seems the further the project goes, the more D’Souza and company realize there might be standards in place for a reason. He’s already backed down from a drug-fueled free-for-all to restricting participating athletes to using drugs that are legal in their home country and prescribed to them by a doctor, and they have to undergo strict monitoring to make sure their bodies are responding well to doping.

Meanwhile, the real motive behind the “Enhanced” movement appears to be simple: it’s a scheme to sell supplements and sports drinks, a giant market with extremely high margins. Wired reported that D’Souza announced Enhanced Performance Products alongside the upcoming Enhanced Games. Someone should tell him it’d be cheaper to just start a podcast.

Elden Ring Nightreign’s new “enhanced” boss fights have leaked early, thanks to nosy modders

by admin June 15, 2025

Elden Ring Nightreign will be updated sometime this month with “enhanced fights against existing Nightlords”, but as is often the way of updates, some of the relevant boss files are already in the current version of the game, and yes, there’s a mod if you want an early crack at them.

From Software teased the coming of spruced-up boss battles in a social media post on 3rd June, offering no clue as to what “enhanced” means in this context. Enhanced movesets? Enhanced haircuts? An inflated sense of self-esteem?

Subsequently, owl-eared, eagle-eyed players noticed that there were unused sections in every boss soundtrack theme that implied the addition of a third combat phase, together with unused boss relics that look like a reward for besting them in hard mode. Now, via PCGamer, NexusMods user TerraMag has dug up the files that let you fight the “enhanced” Nightlords and released them as the obliquely named Enhanced Nightlord Fights mod.

If you lack the fortitude to face these maxed-out titans yourself, or you just want to chill to footage of an apoplectic gigaroach, TerraMag has kindly released some videos of the enhanced fights. Bear in mind, of course, that these aren’t the final, From-sanctioned versions of each enhanced boss, so they might appear rough and unfinished.

Watch on YouTube

TerraMag has harsh words for Adel, Baron of Night in one video description, complaining that “this fucker REFUSED to do any normal bite moves to let me show off the new effect on it”. Well, perhaps that’s because you woke Adel’s phase 3 incarnation up before the appointed time, guy. I’m not much of a morning person myself. Don’t ask me to bite anybody before I’ve had my second coffee.

Enhanced Nightlord scuffles aside, From plan to add duo expeditions to Elden Ring Nightreign in the near future – though naturally, there’s already a mod for that as well – in addition to more routine balancing and technical updates. Meanwhile, dataminers continue the task of hollowing out the game’s code like the entrails of a Sentient Pest. Amongst other feats, they’ve been peeking beneath the masks of the game’s Nightfarers.

Obsidian’s Dungeons & Dragons RPG Neverwinter Nights 2 gets an Enhanced Edition next month

by admin June 10, 2025

Neverwinter Nights 2 – the 2006 RPG from Obsidian based on D&D 3.5 – is getting an Enhanced Edition, and it’s out next month. ‘Enhanced’ in this case means nicer textures, camera improvements, Steam Deck and controller compatibility, and Steam Workshop mod integration. It’s out next month, July 15th.

Watch on YouTube

It also includes three story expansions. If that’s simply not enough Neverwinter Nights for you, there’s a bundle on Steam currently where you can buy both this and the original NN – also in Enhanced Edition form – for 10% off. This would require pre-ordering, however. It’s like I always say: if someone has to bribe you into doing something, it’s surely a brilliant idea. Here’s Steam on the matter of the affairs of the particulars of the videogame at hand:

Return to the city of Neverwinter in Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition. A dark force sweeps over Faerûn, ravaging everything in its path as though searching for something – something that you now find in your possession. As the Shard-Bearer, only you can stop the King of Shadows and his army from desecrating the land you call home. Will you save Faerûn, or fall victim to the temptation of absolute power? When your actions dictate the fate of the Realms, there are no small choices.

I bet there are some small choices, really. That’s just good writing. How do you make the big choices seem big otherwise? Please, consider your hyperbole for one second, advertising blurb.

The previous Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition was handled by Beamdog. They’ve since been gobbled up by Aspyr, themselves a gobbling appendage of chief gobblers Embracer, and it’s Aspyr on both enhancing and publishing duties this time around. Being long in the tooth by now, the Neverwinter Nights games have built up a decent modding community over the years, and the minimal amount of research I’ve done suggests that mods for the original NN worked fine with the 2018 EE. Assuming that’s the case for this new one, it means you’ll be able do things like play the entire Baldur’s Gate 1 campaign inside of it.

Here’s John’s (RPS in peace) diary series A Bastard In Neverwinter if you’re curious to learn how Neverwinter Nights 2 reacts to proto-Dark Urge shenanigans, and also just find the word ‘bastard’ inherently funny enough to force at least once into most articles you write, like some sort of marauding crambastard.

D&D Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition Coming This Summer

by admin June 9, 2025

It’s been nearly two decades since Neverwinter Nights 2 was released, but the classic RPG from 2006 is getting a comeback. Aspyr has revealed Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition is heading to consoles and PC this summer, and the new remaster already has a trailer.

Aspyr actually developed the original Mac port for Neverwinter Nights 2 that was released in 2008 before going on to remaster several other older titles. The new edition of Neverwinter Nights 2 features enhanced graphics and textures with updated camera controls and gameplay mechanics. It has full controller support, and the PC version is Steam Deck compatible. Steam Workshop access is also enabled.

All three of the original DLC expansions–Mask of the Betrayer, Storm of Zehir, and Mysteries of Westgate–are included in the Enhanced Edition. Additionally, Aspyr is offering a bundle on Steam that includes both Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition and Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition.

Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition will hit Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on July 15.

Earlier this year, Wizards of the Coast allowed solo dev Luke Scull to release Doom of Icewind Dale, the first official Neverwinter Nights expansion in 23 years. Wizards’ parent company, Hasbro, has also confirmed that new Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons video games are in development.

From Software Promises Enhanced Boss Fights, Duo Expeditions For Elden Ring Nightreign

by admin June 4, 2025

From Software’s latest game, the multiplayer co-op Elden Ring Nightreign, launched last week, welcoming 2 million players in less than 24 hours. Today, publisher Bandai Namco revealed the player count has leaped to 3.5 million alongside news that duo expeditions are coming to the game in the future.

The team also says that in addition to DLC releasing later this year, new things will be added to Nighreign, like enhanced boss fights against Nightlords starting this month.

“On the dawn of the fifth day, 3.5 million Nightfarers took up arms against the Night in Elden Ring Nightreign. We are ever grateful for your passion,” a post from the Elden Ring X account reads. “But the night is far from over. In addition to the DLC releasing later this year, new additions will be gradually implemented, including enhanced fights against existing Nightlords starting this month, as well as Duo Expeditions at a later date. Thank you for your support.”

Confirming that duo expeditions are coming to Nightreign is exciting, especially as matchmaking for trios is tough, and playing solo is even tougher. From Software released a patch yesterday that should make the latter easier, though.

Enhanced Games to Debut in Las Vegas, Promises $1 Million Prizes

by admin May 22, 2025

In brief

  • Enhanced Games will debut in Las Vegas on Memorial Day weekend in 2026.
  • With PEDs allowed, Enhanced Games challenges Olympic norms and rewards record breakers with $1 million prizes.
  • The first $1 million prize was awarded to former Olympic swimmer Kristian Gkolomeev.

Enhanced Games, the controversial competition that permits performance-enhancing drugs, announced Wednesday during a livestreamed press conference that its inaugural event will be held at Resorts World in Las Vegas on Memorial Day 2026.

Backed by tech billionaire Peter Thiel, the Enhanced Games were first announced in February 2024. Unlike traditional sporting events, the Enhanced Games allow performance-enhancing drugs. Enhanced Games Founder Aron D’Souza framed the games as a challenge to athletic conventions, focusing on setting new sports standards.

“We’ve proven that we can do it once now with a 50-meter freestyle, the preeminent record in swimming,” D’Souza told Decrypt in an interview. “So let’s do it on the track and in strength events.”

🇺🇸 LAS VEGAS 2026

The first Enhanced Games are coming to Las Vegas in May 2026.

World-class athletes in athletics, aquatics, and strength will compete to break records, win prizes of up to a million dollars, and redefine the limits of human performance.

— Enhanced Games (@enhanced_games) May 21, 2025

D’Souza pointed to the 50-meter freestyle record broken by former Olympic swimmer Kristian Gkolomeev. The feat was chronicled in the documentary “50 Meters to History: The First Superhuman,” which details Gkolomeev’s training and the enhancements used to achieve the record.

When asked how organizations outside of the Enhanced Games will view these new records, D’Souza compared Enhanced Games records to the historical split between amateur and professional sports. He argued that just as professional achievements eventually overshadowed amateur ones, enhanced records—like Gkolomeev’s in the 50-meter freestyle—represent a new, distinct category alongside traditional Olympic records.

“The world records that the Olympic Committee keeps are the natural world records,” D’Souza said. “It’s two different things.”

D’Souza also emphasized that breaking records under the Enhanced Games banner is significantly more lucrative than in traditional competitions.

“Every major world record broken in the Enhanced Games comes with a $1 million prize,” he said. “The point of the matter is that the average Olympian in the United States only earns $30,000 a year. So this is the highest prize ever paid to a swimmer, probably by a factor of ten.”

According to D’Souza, athletes will be supported by coaches, doctors, physiologists, nutritionists, and data scientists. While Enhanced Games allows performance-enhancing drugs, he said the organization will rely on independent medical and scientific protocols to oversee athlete safety and development.

“There are robust safety guidelines that our independent medical commission sets,” D’Souza said. “Every athlete must pass a comprehensive health screening, including an electrocardiogram, MRI, and blood analysis, to ensure they are healthy and fit to compete.”

D’Souza said reactions to Enhanced Games have been sharply divided between the tech world and the traditional sports establishment.

“In the technology world, we’re deeply loved, inspiring a whole new vision of what it means to be human,” he said. “The traditional legacy sporting world is very scared. They’re scared of change. We have to embrace change and embrace the future.”

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Enhanced Comes To PlayStation This Summer

by admin May 21, 2025

Between Forza Horizon 5, Doom: The Dark Ages, and Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, Xbox’s exclusives aren’t so exclusive anymore, as all three games have made their way to the PlayStation 5 in the past few months. Today, we learned that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, the harrowingly beautiful action game from Ninja Theory, will be joining their ranks, making its way onto Sony’s platform sometime this summer. You can hear it announced by the team itself in a new trailer below.

On the same day it comes to PS5, Hellblade II will get some “exciting new features” across all platforms as a free update. This new iteration is known as the “Enhanced” version, though it’s unclear how exactly the game will be improved. The newly published PlayStation Store page mentions “added features and immersive haptic feedback,” so we can probably expect some new features to tie in with the Dualsense controller.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II originally launched a year ago today on Xbox Series X/S and PC. Reviewer Marcus Stewart gave it a 9 out of 10, writing that, “gripping storytelling, refined gameplay, and a jaw-dropping presentation make for a more wholly satisfying sophomore outing.” For another of his Xbox reviews also on PlayStation, you can read (or watch) what he though about Doom: The Dark Ages.
