Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 Standard And Collector’s Editions Get Great Discounts

by admin August 20, 2025

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 has received its first major discount since launching last month. You can pick up the remakes of the classic arcade skateboarding games for $35 (was $50) at Amazon or Walmart. Both retailers have this deal for all five console platforms: PS5, PS4, Switch, Switch 2, and Xbox. PlayStation gamers can also save big on the THPS 3 + 4 Collector’s Edition, which comes with a Birdhouse skateboard deck and a bunch of in-game content.

THPS 3 + 4 Standard Edition — $35 ($50)

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 Collector’s Edition is discounted to $104 (was $130) for PS5 at Amazon and Walmart. If you’re lucky, Amazon will offer you an additional 30% off. The coupon offer is only available in select regions, including the Midwest. If you’re eligible, you’ll see a coupon box below the price. Check the box to slash $31.20 from the sale price at checkout. With the extra coupon applied, you’ll wind up paying just $72.79 for the Collector’s Edition.

$35 (was $50) for PS5, PS4, Switch 1/2, Xbox

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 has significantly overhauled graphics, enhanced gameplay mechanics, new levels, an expanded roster of skaters, and fresh music. Just like the remakes of the first two games, the skateboarding mechanics are superb. The moment-to-moment gameplay is extremely satisfying–the excellent soundtrack helps–and the new levels are well-designed.

All that said, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4’s original career mode is sorely missed. Developer Iron Galaxy Studios removed the free-roaming structure and replaced it with the classic two-minute runs found in the first three games. The new version of THPS 4 is good in its own right, but it’s not the game you remember.

The remake collection earned an 8/10 in GameSpot’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 review.

Heads up for Nintendo players: The Switch version comes with a game card but requires a download; the Switch 2 version is a download code inside a box. Activision isn’t offering an upgrade path from Switch to Switch 2.

If Amazon and Walmart sell out of this deal, Best Buy and Target are offering $10 discounts on the standard edition.

$104 (was $130) | $72.79 for select Amazon customers

The full-size Birdhouse skate deck is limited edition and only available in the Collector’s Edition. Birdhouse is Tony Hawk’s official skateboard brand, making this a cool collectible item for fans.

You’ll also get all of the in-game DLC from the $70 Digital Deluxe Edition. Most notably, you’ll get two characters from the Doom franchise as playable skaters: Doom Slayer and Revenant. Each skater has unique secret moves. Along with the Doom characters, this edition includes Doom-themed gear for Create-a-Skater. Here’s a list of all of the in-game extras:

  • Doom Slayer playable skater
  • Revenant playable skater
  • Unmaykr Hoverboard
  • 5 Doom-themed skate decks
  • 5 Doom-themed apparel items
  • Wireframe Tony Shader
  • Additional in-game music

Only the PS5 edition is on sale at Amazon and Walmart, but you can still get the Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X Collector’s Editions for $130.

Everything included in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 Collector’s Edition

$80 for Borderlands 4 too costly? Randy Pitchford says, "If you're a real fan, you'll find a way to make it happen"
Game Updates

Borderlands 4 special editions and price confirmed (and it won’t cost $80)

by admin June 16, 2025

With Borderlands 4’s September release inching closer, publisher Take-Two has announced pricing and a variety of special editions for the shooter. And there’s good news for anyone worried an $80 price tag might be on the cards following all that recent hoo-ha; the standard edition does not, it turns out, cross Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford’s “real fan” threshold.

Pitchford, of course, raised more than a few eyebrows last month, when he implied potential customers not willing to spend $80 on Borderlands 4 (amid a hypothetical discussion of its price tag) weren’t ‘real fans’. His statement – that “real fans” would find a way to get their hands on a copy of the game, even if it came with a $80 price tag – did not go down well, and Pitchford later attempted to justify his comments in a longer video. Unfortunately, he then followed that up with another ill-conceived social media post irritated fans quickly branded “tone-deaf”.

But it turns out Pitchford could probably have avoided needlessly annoying the Borderlands community if he’d just held fire a little longer. Take-Two has now confirmed Borderlands 4 will, in fact, cost $70 for the standard edition of the game – but the full story is a little more complicated given regional pricing, variations in platform pricing, and the usual scrum of special editions offering various strands of Borderlands stuff.

PC is where you’ll pick up Borderlands 4 cheapest; the standard edition costs £59.99 on Steam and Epic, and you’ll be paying £69.99 for the same version on Xbox Series X/S and PS5. That then climbs to £89.99 for the Deluxe Edition (which I suppose is now technically the Real Fan Edition given the price) and £119.99 for the Super (Fan?) Deluxe Edition.

And in case you’re wondering what the difference is, the Deluxe Edition features the game, the Bounty Pack Bundle (which includes four post-launch DLC packs promising new areas, missions, and bosses), plus Vault Cards containing more challenges and rewards, new gear and weapons, four new vehicles, Vault Hunter cosmetics, and the Firehawk’s Fury Weapon Skin.

The Super Deluxe Edition, meanwhile, includes all the above, plus the Ornate Order Pack (featuring Vault Hunter Skins, four Vault Hunter Heads and four Vault Hunter Bodies), and the Vault Hunter Pack. This latter includes two post-launch Story Packs, each bringing a new Vault Hunter, new story and side missions, new map regions, new gear and weapons, plus additional Vault Hunter and ECHO-4 cosmetics.

So to recap, Borderlands 4 – now with less toilet humour! – launches for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC on 12th September. But for something a little bit different, why not check out Connor’s investigation into the community of archivists racing to revive a dead Borderlands MMO.

All Rematch editions & how to play early

by admin June 16, 2025

Rematch officially arrives on June 19 across all platforms, but you can jump into the action early if you want to get a head start.

Rematch is the latest game from Sifu developer Sloclap, but it’s fair to say that the two couldn’t be more different. Often described as Rocket League without cars, you control one member of a five-person team, with the aim of scoring more than your opponents in six-minute matches.

Just like the game that inspired it, it’s easy to pick up but tricky to fully master. So, if you want to get some valuable hours to hone your skills, here’s how you can play early and all of the other editions up for grabs.

Article continues after ad

How to play Rematch early

If you purchase either the Pro Edition or Elite Edition, you can play Rematch from June 16, rather than the full release date on June 19. This means you’ll have 72 hours to get some practice in before the rest of the world jumps in.

Article continues after ad

As you’d expect, it comes at a cost, with the upgraded versions costing $39.99 / £29.99 and $49.99 / £39.99, respectively. However, there’s also the Standard Edition, which is priced at just $29.99 / £19.99, but doesn’t include the early access.

Article continues after ad

The good news, though, is that each version also comes with a handful of additional extras and pre-order bonuses, which we’ve listed below.

Sloclap

All Rematch editions & pre-order bonuses

Standard Edition ($29.99 / £19.99)

  • Rematch (game)
  • Adopter Hat (pre-order bonus)

Pro Edition ($39.99 / £29.99)

  • Rematch (game)
  • 72 hours of early access
  • Adopter Hat (pre-order bonus)
  • Captain Pass Upgrade Ticket
  • Blazon Player Background and Title
  • Blazon Buckler Tank Top
  • Blazon Pattern
  • Blazon Jewel Set

Elite Edition ($49.99 / £39.99)

  • Rematch (game)
  • 72 hours of early access
  • Adopter Hat (pre-order bonus)
  • 2x Captain Pass Upgrade Ticket
  • Blazon Player Background and Title
  • Blazon Buckler Tank Top
  • Blazon Pattern
  • Blazon Jewel Set
  • Blazon Augmented Reality Cage

It’s worth noting that early access for Rematch is now officially live, so if you don’t already have your copy of the Pro or Elite edition, you’ve missed the chance to secure the pre-order bonuses. However, there’s still time to pre-order the Standard Edition before June 19.

For more on the game, check out our interview with devs where they revealed why they swapped Sifu for soccer.

Three Big Xbox-Published Games Are Getting PS5-Exclusive Physical Editions

by admin June 16, 2025

Microsoft’s recent openness to bringing its biggest Xbox Series X|S games to PlayStation 5 has been a boon for sales. But the benefits for Xbox owners may not go both ways, as a trio of big upcoming Microsoft-published games are skipping physical releases on Xbox Series X|S. PS5 gamers, on the other hand, will be able to get physical editions of all three.

The Outer Worlds 2, Ninja Gaiden 4, and Gears of War: Reloaded are the three games in question, as seen on Amazon. But it doesn’t appear to be a case of Microsoft favoring PS5 over its own console. Instead, it seems to be part of Microsoft’s broader push towards digital-only releases.

Instead of coming with a physical disc, The Other Worlds 2 and Ninja Gaiden 4 will only be packaged with a download code in Series X|S boxes. Strangely enough, Gears of War: Reloaded won’t even have that physical option. It’s strictly a digital release except on PS5.

During an interview with Game File last year, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer indicated that the majority of Xbox game sales are digital. Spencer also said that Microsoft was simply “following what the customers are doing.” But the shift away from physical releases appears to be accelerating for Microsoft this year. That may be in part due to the uncertainty over whether the gaming industry will be seriously affected by the Trump administration’s tariffs.

Of the three games, Gears of War: Reloaded will be released first on August 26 for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. Ninja Gaiden 4 and The Outer Worlds 2 will follow on all three platforms on October 20 and October 29, respectively. Brandon Adler, the game director of The Outer Worlds 2, recently shared his response to Microsoft setting the price for that sequel at $80.

Solasta 2 is switching to D&D 5th edition’s 2024 rules update

by admin June 12, 2025

A whole decade is a solid run for an RPG ruleset, but the success of Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition, released in 2014, was such that replacing it would be an obviously terrible idea. Instead, Wizards of the Coast did something more akin to 4th edition’s Essentials line—a refresh that’s compatible with the previous rules, but makes changes to address criticisms that have emerged over the rules’ lifespan.

The 2024 update is basically a patch then, and one that’s been fairly well-received. The usual complainers have decided it’s “woke” for reasons too tedious to mention, but looking at the actual changes it’s a straight upgrade that formalizes many of the house rules players were already using.

Which is why it’s good news the sequel to Solasta: Crown of the Magister, the CRPG that used the Open Gaming Licence to give players an authentic-feeling D&D experience with the serial numbers filed off, will be using the 2024 update. This wasn’t a sure thing: the demo I played back in February was still using the 2014 rules, and the updated Systems Reference Document explaining what rules are in the creative commons didn’t come out until April. But now, the developers at Tactical Adventures have announced they’re officially making the switch.

Related articles

A couple of major changes are cited to explain why they consider this a worthwhile upgrade. The first are the new rules for weapon masteries that make “I hit it with my sword” more interesting, with rules for cleaving, pushing, toppling, and other effects you can spice up attacks with. Yes, it is a lot like the options Larian added in Baldur’s Gate 3.

The second are changes to the way classes work, like clerics being able to choose between being a fighty protector or a more magically inclined thaumaturge at level one rather than having to wait until they get a divine domain to get some more personal options. Sorcerers can now turn on something called Innate Sorcery as a bonus action, giving advantage on spell attack rolls, and fighters can use Second Wind to give a bonus to ability checks in addition to its original healing properties. More options that let you lean into a more specific class fantasy, basically.

Solasta 2 is planning to release in early access later this year. You can check out the demo on Steam.

Gris & Neva Collector’s Bundle And Gorgeous Deluxe Editions Are Back In Stock

by admin June 1, 2025

Video games are some of the best–and interactive–art around, and if you ever needed a prime example of the medium’s artistic impact, then Gris and Neva by Nomada Studio more than fit that bill. Both of these elegant games are being bundled into a new $200 Collector’s Edition exclusive to GameStop. Preorders for Nintendo Switch and PS5 initially sold out when they became available in mid-April, but the it’s back in stock for both platforms ahead of its November 21 release.

Meanwhile, Amazon has restocked the recently released Gris Deluxe Edition ($50) for Switch and Neva Deluxe Edition ($55) for Switch and PS5.

$200 | Releases November 21

The Gris | Neva Collector’s Edition includes physical copies of both games–either PS5 or Switch versions–plus a selection of collectible extras like a gatefold vinyl set of both games’ soundtracks, steelbook cases, exclusive art prints, and a 168-page hardcover art book, which offers a look behind the curtain at how these games were developed. Preorders for the Nintendo Switch and PS5 versions are available at GameStop.

Gris | Neva Collector’s Edition

In case the Collector’s Edition sells out–or you don’t feel like waiting until November–Deluxe Editions of Gris and Neva released earlier this year. While you aren’t getting as many extras in these versions, they’re still great editions of the games and much more affordable than the Collector’s Edition bundle.

The $50 Gris Deluxe Edition comes with a copy of the game, a CD soundtrack, a collectible tuck-in box, and a 100-page art book chronicling the visual journey of the game from concept phase to final product. The $55 Neva Deluxe Edition offers a similar assortment of extras. Alongside the physical copy of the game, there’s also a CD soundtrack, a download code for the score, a collector’s box, and an 88-page art book containing sketches, concepts, and other designs used in the development of Neva.

If you just want the games without extras, Gris and Neva standard editions are available for PS5 and Switch as well.

Both games earned positive reviews when they launched, with critics praising these titles for tackling sensitive topics through an artistic lens. Gris is a tranquil platformer set in a desolate world that is falling apart, and as the protagonist, players have to explore a ruined landscape that serves as a stand-in for the five stages of grief.

Neva is also an emotional tale, and while it appears to be a story about climate change and the destruction of nature, it also focuses on parenthood and all of the feelings associated with it through the character Alba and her wolf companion Neva.

Get New Lord Of The Rings 4K Steelbook Editions For Only $28 Each

by admin May 29, 2025

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 4K Steelbook Edition released this week alongside a reprint of Fellowship of the Ring’s matching edition. Fellowship was a Walmart exclusive when it first launched earlier this year, and it had appeared like The Two Towers would continue that trend. But that turned out not to be the case, and now both collectible editions are up for grabs for $28 each at Amazon and Walmart. We wouldn’t be surprised to see both movies sell out soon at Amazon, especially since there’s a 20% discount at the moment.

These standalone releases cost considerably less than the previously released LOTR Trilogy Steelbook Collection. But to be clear, the steelbook designs and artwork are pulled from that box set, so there’s really no need to buy these if you already own the collection. But for fans who don’t have the box set, now’s your chance to get two LOTR 4K Blu-rays with gorgeous steelbook cases (and digital copies) for $56 total.

$28 (was $35) | Available Now

The Fellowship of the Ring’s standalone Steelbook Edition originally released on January 7 as a Walmart exclusive. The retailer sold out of copies multiple times in the weeks before and after launch, so it’s nice that fans who missed out can still buy it alongside The Two Towers.

Unlike The Lord of the Rings Trilogy 4K Blu-ray sets, the standalone release of Fellowship of the Ring also includes the digital version of the first film in the trilogy.

You’ll get the theatrical and extended versions of the movie in both formats. If you haven’t watched the extended editions–all three films have one–they are definitely worth the time investment.

The extended cut adds 30 minutes to the overall runtime and is spread across two discs.

  • Theatrical Edition (Disc 1) – 178 minutes (2 hours and 58 minutes)
  • Extended Edition (Discs 2-3) – 208 minutes (3 hours and 28 minutes)

$28 (was $35) | Available Now

Once again, The Two Towers Limited Edition Steelbook is the same as the one that comes with the The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Steelbook Box Set. But just like with The Fellowship of the Ring, you’ll get 4K Blu-ray and digital versions of The Two Towers.

The 4K Steelbook Edition comes with the theatrical and extended cuts of The Two Towers on three discs. The extended cut adds 44 minutes to the film and is split across two discs.

  • Theatrical Edition – 179 minutes (2 hours and 59 minutes)
  • Extended Edition – 223 minutes (3 hours and 43 minutes)

It seems like only a matter of time before The Return of the King gets a standalone release in Limited Edition Steelbook format.

If you haven’t watched The Lord of the Rings on 4K Blu-ray, all three films (and The Hobbit Trilogy) look and sound beautiful. Along with upscaled 4K visuals, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King support Dolby Vision and HDR10 on compatible displays. The audio experience can be enhanced with Dolby Atmos or Dolby TrueHD 7.1 surround sound.

These are the only standalone 4K Blu-ray editions of The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers in North America. Jackson’s Tolkien adaptations are almost exclusively printed as trilogy box sets on 4K Blu-ray and/or Blu-ray.

Although the new Steelbook Editions offer a budget-friendly way to get collectible versions of Peter Jackson’s excellent adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy classic, there are still cheaper ways to buy the films on 4K. Here’s a quick look at 4K Blu-ray releases of Jackson’s six Middle-earth movies. You can also get the recently released Lord of the Rings anime on 4K Blu-ray for $20 at Walmart.

Peter Jackson’s Tolkien Adaptations in 4K

You can take a closer look at The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Steelbook Trilogy Collections below.

$180

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Steelbook Box Set received a reprint in March, but it’s no longer available directly from major retailers. That said, you can buy it from third-party resellers for right around retail price.

Compared to the standalone releases, the box set generally feels a pricey these days, especially since you miss out on digital versions of the film. It does, however, come with a nice steelbook slipcase for all three films.

That said, if The Return of the King gets a standalone Limited Edition Steelbook release, you’ll probably be able to snag steelbooks for all three films for under $100.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy’s standard 4K Blu-ray box set is available for $67.80 at Amazon–more than $100 cheaper than this steelbook set.

$170

Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit Trilogy also has a Limited Edition Steelbook box set. Unsurprisingly, The Hobbit Trilogy has never been as popular as LOTR, so this one typically isn’t as difficult to find in stock for around retail price. But if you want to get steelbook editions of all six of Peter Jackson’s Middle-earth films, you can grab this box set for $170 from Amazon.

It’s unclear if The Hobbit films will ever receive standalone steelbook releases. For now, the only way to get a 4K edition of any of the three Hobbit films with a steelbook case is to pick up the box set.

Like The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Steelbook, this set only comes with 4K Blu-ray editions of each film, but you will get the theatrical and extended cuts of each.

It is worth emphasizing that The Hobbit Trilogy’s standard 4K Blu-ray box set is substantially cheaper than this set. Right now, you can get The Hobbit Trilogy for $43 at Amazon.

The Lord of the Rings Collectible Books & Box Sets

The Lord of the Rings Deluxe Illustrated Edition | The Collected Poems of J.R.R. Tolkien

Lord of the Rings fans who are interested in adding collectible editions of Tolkien’s original novels to their shelves can save big on arguably the best-looking edition of The Lord of the Rings at Amazon. The Lord of the Rings: Deluxe Illustrated Edition is on sale for $146 at Amazon, which is the best price we’ve seen and a savings of $179.

Published last October with a staggering $325 price tag, this expanded edition of the beloved 1992 three-volume collection includes stunning hardcover editions of each part of LOTR accompanied by dozens of drawings and paintings by Alan Lee. More than 50 of the illustrations are new to the remastered edition.

Quarterbound leather and cloth board bindings make these editions feel and look quite beautiful. The covers have original artwork by Lee in the center, and all of the symbols and lettering on the front and spines are foil-stamped in silver. Each book has sprayed top and bottom edges as well as illustrated side edges. Those illustrations match Lee’s Mount Doom artwork found on the interior walls of the custom-designed cloth board slipcase. This handsome box set also comes with three art cards and two foldout maps created by Christopher Tolkien.

The Lord of the Rings Collector’s Editions (2024)

Alternatively, the more budget-friendly Lord of the Rings Collector’s Edition Hardcover Box Set is on sale for $49.45 at Amazon. All three volumes of The Lord of the Rings have foil-stamped cover art, stained edges, ribbon bookmarks, and maps on the inside of these elegantly bound hardcovers. You can also save big on each of the three volumes on their own as well as matching Collector’s Editions of The Hobbit and The Silmarillion.

Fans can also get substantial discounts on the 2024 History of Middle-earth Hardcover Box Sets. With 15 books in total–including The Silmarillion–these four gorgeous collections compile the entirety of Tolkien’s legendarium, which the author’s son, Christopher Tolkien, edited and expanded to create the lengthy series now known as The History of Middle-earth.

William Morrow is continuing this box set project in June with Tolkien Myths and Legends, a four-book box set featuring two Tolkien works inspired by English literature and two books that Tolkien personally translated. In August, the sixth collection in the series, The Great Tales of Middle-earth, will be published. This set comes with Tolkien’s final three posthumously published Middle-earth novels: The Children of Húrin (2007), Beren and Lúthien (2017), and The Fall of Gondolin (2018).

Expedition 33 Fans Get New Collector’s Editions

by admin May 22, 2025

Image: Sandfall Interactive

RPG fans love their Collector’s Editions, but few guessed just how big or good Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 would turn out to be, including its own developers. The result was that a very limited set of physical releases, including Collector’s Editions exclusive to certain retailers, immediately vanished from store shelves. People are now trying to resell them for as much as $1,500 on eBay, but fortunately developer Sandfall Interactive has just announced it’s making more.

Unboxing The Baldur’s Gate 3 Collector’s Edition

On Thursday it announced the Monolith Set, which is essentially everything from the original Collector’s Editions minus the physical game. That’s a bummer for everyone who really just wanted a disc version of their new favorite RPG, but still good news for fans just looking to get their hands on the physical art book and soundtrack, two parts of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 that have both received high praise.

“It includes all the physical merch from the Collector’s Edition, just without the base game and downloadable cosmetics,” Sandfall Interactive posted on X. “That means the Steelbook case, Monolith music box, and Expedition Journal Artbook are all in there.” The Monolith Set will sell for $120, way cheaper than the hundreds some fans are asking for in order to part with their original Collector’s Editions online right now.

The only other hitch is that if you’re in the U.S., the set might end up costing extra because of President Trump’s constantly shifting import taxes. “Due to the ongoing tariff situation between the US and China, shipping costs to the US will be higher to account for potential charges at delivery, and US customers may incur additional import duty.”

Pre-orders go live on May 23 and will be limited to two per person to help deal with scalpers. Fans will have until June 12 to try and get one.
