Creepshow 4K Steelbook And New Creepshow 2 Limited Edition Get Massive Price Cuts

Amazon has several scary good deals on the horror-comedy anthology franchise Creepshow, including steep discounts on two exciting upcoming releases. Creepshow 2’s Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray is on sale for $33 (was $50) ahead of its September 30 launch. The first printing of Arrow Films’ 4K restoration comes with numerous exclusive bonuses, including a comic book adaptation of an unpublished Stephen King short story. You can pair the 4K edition of the sequel with last year’s Creepshow Limited Edition Steelbook, which is discounted to only $23 (was $40)–by far the lowest price yet.

Creepshow fans can also save big on the upcoming Blu-ray box set of the complete four-season run of Shudder’s anthology series. Preorders for the Creepshow: Complete Series Collector’s Edition have dropped to $68.47 (was $100) at Amazon and Walmart. Slated for November 11, the box set leans into the franchise’s roots and inspirations with a CRT TV display box containing comic book-inspired disc cases. It looks like an awesome collectible for Creepshow fans.

Creepshow: Complete Series (Blu-ray)

As shown above, the CRT TV’s display clearly can switch between a red background with the series logo and a picture of The Creep, but it’s unclear how this mechanism works. In any case, it’s one of the cooler display boxes we’ve seen this year. All four seasons have their own case modeled after the the in-universe Creepshow comics and Stephen King’s graphic novel. You’ll also get a real comic book based on “Skeletons in the Closet,” which is one of the vignettes in Season 3, Episode 2.

$68.47 (was $100) | Releases November 11

Creepshow debuted on Shudder in 2019 and quickly became one of the horror streamer’s marquee original series. It was undoubtedly a huge subscription seller for Shudder, especially Season 1 was the best take on the franchise since the original movie.

The anthology series ran for four seasons and 25 episodes, including two TV specials, before ending in 2023. Episodes of Creepshow include a pair of distinct vignettes, roughly 20-25 minutes each.

Franchise creators Stephen King and George A. Romero weren’t involved with the production, but a few episodes are based on King’s short stories, including the show’s very first vignette “Gray Matter,” adapted from a story in King’s excellent collection Night Shift. The 2020 Halloween special adapted “Survivor Type” from Skeleton Crew. The back half of the special was based on “Twittering from the Circus of the Dead” from the story collection Full Throttle by Joe Hill, who also happens to be King’s eldest son.

The 9-disc box set has a total runtime of roughly 18 hours. All 23 episodes and the two specials are displayed in 1080p resolution and support DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. Bonus features include cast and crew interviews, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and photo galleries.

Creepshow 2’s Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray was restored from the original camera negative with HDR (Dolby Vision and HDR10) and three audio formats: 5.1 DTS-HD, stereo, and lossless monaural.

Arrow Video originally created a 2K restoration that released as Creepshow 2: Special Edition back in 2016 on 1080p Blu-ray. The on-disc special features for the 4K release largely mirror the Special Edition. The reversible sleeve and cover art by Mike Saputo matches the 2016 release, too.

Just like the first printing of the 1080p Blu-ray, the 4K release includes two limited-edition booklets. These are no longer included with the standard Blu-ray and were limited to 3,000 units, but now you have another chance. For reference, the first printing has a red sleeve, but after it sells out, it’ll likely switch to a blue sleeve like the Blu-ray edition.

Most notably, you’ll get a booklet with the comic adaptation of “Pinfall,” one of the two stories that were cut from the film. The story was written by Stephen King and adapted into a script by George Romero. Jason Mayoh adapted the story into a comic for the Blu-ray release in 2016. Along with the comic booklet, you’ll get an illustrated booklet with commentary from Michael Blyth.

“Pinfall” has never been published as a short story or filmed, so this is the only way to experience one of Stephen King’s unpublished stories.

$23 (was $40) | All-time low

Though you can watch Creepshow 2 without watching the original, the 1982 anthology is a more well-rounded collection of horror-comedy stories, so it doesn’t really make sense to skip it. Plus, it’s already available on 4K Blu-ray. A Collector’s Edition released in 2023, and the awesome Steelbook Edition shown above arrived just in time for Halloween last year. The Limited Edition Steelbook is on sale for only $23 (was $40), which is actually cheaper than the standard 4K Blu-ray edition by a few bucks.

Both editions include 4K Blu-ray and standard 1080p Blu-rays and the same special features. The film was remastered in 4K using the original camera negatives and supports HDR (Dolby Vision and HDR10), Dolby Atmos audio, and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0. Special features include three different audio commentary tracks, a roundtable on the making of the anthology, interviews, and a whole bunch more. Creepshow 2 Limited Edition (Arrow Video)

Creepshow and its numerous follow-ups blend horror and comedy while paying homage to classic comics like Tales from the Crypt and The Haunt of Fear. Directed by George Romero, the 1982 original is an anthology film with five distinct vignettes. Stories include a murdered man rising from the dead, a mysterious meteor that lands on a remote farm, and a cockroach army that’s hunting a man with Entomophobia.

Stephen King made his screenwriting debut with Creepshow, and two of the five tales were adapted from his short fiction. Creepshow wears its comic book influences on its sleeve, and King adapted the film into a graphic novel the same year the movie released.

Creepshow 2’s screenplay was written by Romero and directed by the original film’s cinematographer Michael Gornick. Though originally planned to mirror its predecessor with five vignettes, only three made it into the movie: “Old Chief Wood’nhead,” “The Raft,” and “The Hitch-hiker.” All three are based on King’s short stories, but “The Raft” is the only one that has been published and collected in the author’s heralded collection Skeleton Crew.

“Cat from Hell,” the other King story that was cut from Creepshow 2, was included in Tales from the Darkside: The Movie in 1990. The spin-off film was based on a TV series created by Romero in 1983. Given the timing, it should come as no surprise that Tales from the Darkside–also a horror-comedy anthology–existed because of Creepshow’s unexpected box office success. Tales from the Darkside: The Complete Series is available on DVD for $27.90.

Creepshow franchise 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases

Beyond the collectible editions, the first two Creepshow anthologies are available for $10-$12 each on standard Blu-ray. The Creepshow franchise technically has three film anthologies, but the 2006 straight-to-home-video Creepshow 3 is one that many fans want to forget exists at all (it’s quite bad). If you want to be reminded of it, a region-free Blu-ray edition of Creepshow 3 is $22 at Walmart. All three films are collected in a DVD box set for $25.

Another box set option is the King of Horror 8-Film Collection on Blu-ray or DVD. This one only includes the first Creepshow movie, but you’ll also get The Shining, Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, the 1990 It miniseries, and more. King of Horror’s Blu-ray edition is only $36.30 (was $60) at Amazon.

Creepshow Movies

All four seasons of Shudder’s anthology series are already available on Blu-ray and DVD. The first season is currently priced close to $30, but Seasons 2-4 are up for grabs for under $15 each.

Tales from the Darkside / Tales from the Crypt

If you like the horror-comedy anthology structure, you should definitely check out Tales from the Darkside and Tales from the Crypt.

Creepshow by Stephen King (1982) | Creepshow Deluxe Edition Book One (2024)

Shudder’s series also led to the revival of Creepshow in print. Skybound and Image Comics have published 20 Creepshow comics since 2022, and 15 of them have been collected in paperback volumes. Each volume has five standalone comics written and illustrated by a rotating group of big names in the industry, including Garth Ennis and Joe Hill. As a child, Hill appeared in the prologue and epilogue of the original Creepshow film, and over 40 years later he wrote an official Creepshow comic called Joe Hill’s Wolverton Station.

The first issue in Volume 4 was published September 17. Volume 4 #2 releases October 22, and #3 is scheduled for November 19.

If you want to catch up on the anthology series, the first three volumes are available in trade paperback for $10-$15 each. Volume 3 was published in April, and Volume 4’s paperback edition is slated for April 14, 2026. Last holiday season, Image Comics published a hardcover Deluxe Edition compiling the first two volumes. Amazon has Creepshow Deluxe Edition for $21 (was $40), which is almost exactly the same price as the two paperback editions combined.

Joe Hill’s Creepshow comic and three others are one-shots that aren’t included in the collected volumes, but you can buy Kindle digital editions for a couple bucks each or collected volumes for $8-$12. All 20 Creepshow comics released publsihed so far are available in a Kindle bundle for $43.80. But before reading the new series, we’d highly recommend Stephen King’s original graphic novel, which is available in paperback for only $15 (was $20) at Amazon.

Corpse Bride Limited Edition Steelbook Preorders Discounted, Releases This Week

Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride launches on 4K Blu-ray for the first time on September 23. The cult-classic stop-motion animated movie is celebrating its 20th anniversary with two different editions, including a Limited Edition Steelbook with a collectible steelbook case and decorative sleeve. Burton fans can preorder Corpse Bride’s Limited Edition Steelbook for $30 (was $35) at Amazon and Walmart. The standard 4K Blu-ray edition is up for grabs for only $23.79 at Amazon and Walmart.

This has been a popular Steelbook Edition–it sold out for the first time in July before the official artwork was even revealed–and has been listed for as high as $45.49 at both retailers. If you already preordered from Amazon or Walmart, your order total will be adjusted to reflect the lowest price offered before launch ($30). Burton fans can also preorder the new Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Limited Edition Steelbook for $30 (was $35). The Beetlejuice sequel’s collectible edition releases the same day as Corpse Bride.

Corpse Bride’s Limited Edition Steelbook continues a trend we’ve seen more of recently by including a transparent sleeve with artwork that changes the look of the display case. With the sleeve on, as shown above, Emily Merrimack’s eyes are closed, and she’s surrounded by butterflies. When you remove the sleeve, the Corpse Bride’s eyes open and the butterflies disappear, leaving the night sky background clear besides the full moon.

The back of the steelbook features Victor Van Dort, the man who unwittingly marries Emily (according to her, at least). More undead characters are featured on the interior covers, including General Wellington and Bonejangles.

Corpse Bride’s standard 4K Blu-ray mirrors the Steelbook Edition in terms of on-disc content and technical specs. Both editions come with one 4K Blu-ray disc and a voucher for the digital edition via Movies Anywhere.

The 4K restoration includes HDR10 and supports Dolby Atmos surround sound. Along with the film, fans can watch a bunch of bonus content, including retrospectives, featurettes, interviews, and more. Special features are on the disc regardless of which edition you choose, but they aren’t rendered in 4K.

Corpse Bride Limited Edition Steelbook

Corpse Bride is the dark tale of Victor Van Dort (Johnny Depp), a young bachelor roped into a wedding of convenience to his bride-to-be, Victoria Everglot (Emily Watson). After a series of incidents result in Victor accidentally marrying a deceased woman named Emily (Helena Bonham Carter), he must find a way to escape the Land of the Dead, help Emily move on.

While Burton’s work spans multiple genres and decades, each film carries his signature style and visual atmosphere, and if you’re looking to check out more of his catalog, many of his films are available on Blu-ray at Amazon. Burton made his directorial debut with Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, and he followed up it with several other cult-classic movies throughout the 1980s and 1990s, such as A Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, and Mars Attacks. He also directed two of the best Batman films ever, in 1989’s Batman and its sequel, Batman Returns. Both films are available in a four-film 4K Blu-ray collection alongside Batman Forever and Batman & Robin for only $33 (was $90) at Amazon.

As mentioned, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Burton’s latest film, is getting a Limited Edition Steelbook on September 23, too. It’s worth noting Walmart still has a few copies of the film’s original Steelbook Edition for $20.

A few weeks back we covered a deal on the standard edition of God of War: 20th Anniversary Retrospective, but now it’s the Deluxe Edition’s turn. Normally $200, the beautiful Deluxe Edition box set is discounted to $115.41 at Amazon. This is a limited-time deal, and over 40% of copies have been claimed already. It probably goes without saying, but the $85 price cut is the best deal yet on the two-book hardcover box set. The 20th Anniversary Retrospective was published by Dark Horse in July.

The standard edition box set is up for grabs for $80.79 (was $100), but it’s worth noting the recent (expired) deal dropped the price to $66.33. It’s also available as a Kindle ebook for $35. The Deluxe Edition also comes with a bifold portfolio containing a pair of lithographs. One of the prints features artwork inspired by the PlayStation 2 games, and the other is based on the contemporary reboot.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Gen 10 Aura Edition is a convertible two-in-one laptop well-suited to both business and creative tasks.

It’s a highly portable machine, measuring 0.31 in – 0.64 in x 12.31 in x 8.57in and with a starting weight of 2.97lb (1.35kg). As I’d expect from a true ThinkPad – even a 2-in-1 model – it’s robustly built and ideal for home and office working.

As an Aura Edition laptop, it’s an AI PC running on an Intel Core Ultra chip which, according to Lenovo “accelerates your AI experience” without being a drag on the battery. Whether that’s a plus or a minus in your book will vary. In my experience it was…fine. But I’m not the world’s biggest AI user anyway.

But as a self-confessed ThinkPad fan, I was excited to check out the overall feel and performance.

Prices for the laptop start from $1892 / £1820 (currently discounted from £2250 at time of review).

At that price, the US version of the machine comes loaded with Windows 11 Home running on the Intel Core Ultra 5 226V, 16GB RAM, and 512GB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 SSD.

In the UK, the base model runs W11 Home on the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V chip, 32GB RAM, and 512GB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen5 SSD.

You can also spec-up the machine with up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 268V vPro processor, 2TB SSD, and Windows 11 Pro operating system.

Either way, the base model 14in IPS touchscreen display panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1200, with Anti-Glare. It hits 100% sRGB, has a brightness of 500 nits, and a 60Hz refresh rate.

There are two other screen options, too – either the business-oriented display with its ePrivacy filter, which is otherwise identical to the base model. Or the more complex 2.8K OLED Low Blue Light display with HDR 500 True Black with 100% DCI-P3, 500 nits, VRR 30-120Hz, making it the better pick for creators.

The look and feel of the X1 2-in-1 is distinctly ThinkPad – I found it robust in hand thanks to its aluminum chassis, which boasts MIL-STD-810H construction. Not exactly a true rugged laptop, then, but durable enough for the most hardened commuters. Besides the silvery accents, the main body is a stylish space grey that I thought looked professional without being boring.

The 14in screen has a thin bezel that sits behind the glass, with an elevated notch where the camera sits. The camera itself is 5MP, comes complete with physical privacy shutter, and supports Windows Hello for a passwordless sign-in.

Along the right-hand side is a USB-A and two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, and a Nano SIM slot. To the left, there’s another USB-A port, as well as HDMI 2.1 port, audio jack, a Kensington Nano Security slot, and a discrete power button that sits flush with the frame. In a world where laptop makers are gradually stripping back connectivity, I find this array generous enough, and I didn’t feel the immediate need to hook up a laptop docking station. Another bonus here is the support for Wi-Fi 7, perfect for future-proofing connectivity.

Now, I’m a big champion of ThinkPad laptops (I use the T14s on a daily basis, but I’ve been a fan since I first got my trusty old T431s). In my experience, they easily offer the best typing experience compared to other laptop brands. Alright, the new Lenovo models may lack the key travel of the older IBM ThinkPads (1.5mm vs 1.8mm), but even still, they’re a joy to use.

In this regard, I was a little wary of trying out X1 2-in-1 Gen 10, as some older X1 laptops had previously used a keyboard with a stubby 1.35mm travel depth. Lenovo has, thankfully, done away with that – here, you get the same 1.5mm backlit board you’ll find on the T-series ThinkPads. As such, using this for long writing sessions is a total breeze.

However, I spotted a few differences here compared to your more traditional business laptops. Of course, there’s the iconic red Trackpoint, but there’s also a fingerprint scanner for signing in without a password and beside it, a dedicated Microsoft Copilot button – clicking this unlocks the AI assistant, while granting easy access to all the usual Office apps.

Interestingly, Lenovo has switched the Fn and Ctrl keys around here, bringing it in line with most keyboards. Older ThinkPads place the Fn key to the left, rather than the right, and I have to change this using the Lenovo Vantage app.

My review model featured an OLED screen at 2880 x 1800 resolution with 60-120Hz refresh rate. Colors are vivid and bright, near-perfect in reproduction due to the 100% DCI-P3 gamut. For those looking for a general laptop for photo editing as well as productivity tasks, this is a pretty safe bet, I found.

The laptop operates in four ways – laptop, tablet, tent, and presentation mode, and all four work very well. I experienced no issues here at all, with the screen orientation changing swiftly and without lag when I switched from one configuration to the next. The movement feels sturdy and smooth, and pleasingly there’s no additional play to the 360-degree hinges.

What I didn’t like, however, was how reflective the screen was. Turn off the laptop and it’s like staring into a black mirror. That might not be a deal-breaker for some, but it certainly gave me pause and if you’re going to be using this outside or in direct sunlight, you’ll want to crank up the brightness to mitigate it as much as possible.

As a touchscreen device, this unit also included a stylus, which magnetically clamps to the right side of the screen. Using this in tablet mode was a total joy. Input was instant and the whole experience felt smooth.

I experienced no issues when using the laptop – running Microsoft’s Office suite, browsing the internet, opening many, many, many, many tabs in Chrome, at this level, nothing seemed to slow down this machine.

Under heavier workloads, there is a tendency for the X1 to run a little warm, and there, I did experience some minor slowing. But even, the impact felt negligible and it’s unlikely to prove an issue for professionals using this for general business tasks.

For a convertible business laptop, then, I found it well-specced and impressively powerful enough for day-to-day operations. Ok, it won’t deliver the same performance you’ll find from a mobile workstation or gaming laptop, but that’s not what it’s been designed for.

One of the stand-out areas with the X1 2-in-1 Gen 10 Aura Edition is the battery life. The machine is rocking a 57Whr battery, which is hardly massive, but acceptable. Don’t let that fool you, though, because battery life is surprisingly spectacular.

The device itself is rated for up to 20.2 hours when benchmarked using MobileMark 25, according to Lenovo. But this assumes minimal use. Streaming video playback should net up to 16.3 hours. For those using this laptop on the go, it’s positively perfect.

Overall, I enjoyed my time with the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Gen 10 Aura Edition – whether I was using it as a tablet or laptop.

It’s more than capable of handling the usual suite of business apps and software, and here, the laptop performs brilliantly. Everything feels smooth, responsive, and efficient, making it a good pick for those who prize productivity above all else.

True, it’s not the most powerful around, it’s expensive for what it is, and I’m still not a fan of the glossy screen, but all told, there’s little else to complain about.

Couple that durable design with a good port selection, excellent battery life, and a neat, multi-use design, and you have one of the best 2-in-1 laptops for professionals around.

As Windows 10 Team edition reaches EOL, Microsoft Teams Rooms will no longer work on Surface Hub v1, raising challenges for enterprises

Thousands of companies could face meeting room disruption soon as the upcoming Windows 10 end of life deadline looks set to affect Microsoft Team Rooms devices.

From October 14, Surface Hub v1 devices, like other Windows 10 systems, will no longer receive updates or support from Microsoft, as the company pulls support for Windows 10 Team edition.

Unlike standard Windows 10 editions, Windows 10 Team doesn’t have an extended support option, and although Surface Hub 2S units can be upgraded to Windows 11 or fitted with a Surface Hub 3 Compute Cartridge, the original Hub doesn’t have that luxury.

“Surface Hub v1 devices will no longer be supported. It’s recommended to upgrade to a newer Surface Hub device,” Microsoft said in an update.

This advice places many meeting spaces in an awkward position, and will see some devices turning into expensive but unsupported equipment, as the impact stretches beyond Surface hardware.

The Microsoft Teams Rooms app will no longer function on Windows 10 devices after October 14, nor will the Teams Rooms Pro Management Portal.

As Microsoft puts it: “The Microsoft Teams Rooms app based on classic Teams will no longer be accessible.”

Andrew Francis, applications engineering senior manager at Shure, told The Register that many companies may underestimate the problem.

“While the initial focus is often on personal devices like laptops and desktops, there are many other endpoints that need consideration. One key example is the Microsoft Teams Rooms on a Windows 10 device,” he said.

Francis noted there are about one million active Teams Rooms worldwide, on both Windows and Android, but many Windows-based units cannot move to Windows 11 because of hardware restrictions.

An additional layer of complexity exists for those companies whose meeting room tech spans multiple departments or outsourced providers.

The looming deadline means organizations must now choose between upgrades, migrations, or replacements.

For Surface Hub 2S users, Microsoft says users have three options: install a Surface Hub 3 Compute Cartridge, perform a software migration before October 14, or unlock devices for a manual USB installation of Windows 11.

Surface Hub v1 customers sadly only have the one option, buying a new model. Failure to do so could see some meeting rooms left with costly equipment that’s no longer fit for use.

Spawn Limited Edition 4K Blu-Ray – Save Big On Your Preorder At Amazon

Back in the ’90s, Todd McFarlane’s Spawn was one of the hottest comic books on shelves. The flagship series for Image Comics, Spawn’s popularity spilled into mainstream pop culture with its own line of toys, an animated HBO series, and –perhaps most notably–a feature film adaptation in 1997 starring Michael Jai White as the titular antihero. Now, almost 18 years later, the grim superhero film is getting a limited-edition 4K release from Arrow Video, which is on a roll with 4K restorations of cult classics.

Spawn Limited Edition includes theatrical and director’s cuts as well as premium packaging, new artwork, and a few collectibles. Preorders opened at $50 in late July, but Amazon and Walmart are now offering a substantial discount that drops the price to $32 ahead of its October 7 release.

Arrow Video restored the Theatrical and Director’s Cuts in native 4K (2160p) resolution using the original camera negatives. Both versions support High Dynamic Range with Dolby Vision and HDR10. Audio options include DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and lossless stereo.

The Limited Edition is packaged in a reversible sleeve with new artwork. You’ll also get an illustrated booklet with fresh commentary and a double-sided, fold-out poster.

The main difference between the Theatrical and Director’s Cut is the tone, as a lot of the violence was removed to secure a PG-13 rating. Other than that, the Director’s Cut is less than three minutes longer than the Theatrical Cut, but the extra violence pushes it into R-rated territory.

There’s also a ton of bonus materials, such as a a brand-new audio commentary with comic book expert and podcast host Dave Baxter, and new interviews with the film’s cast and crew. You can also explore archival content, including behind-the-scenes featurettes, promotional materials, and audio commentary tracks, many of which are from previous DVD and Blu-ray releases. It’s not afraid to be a comic book movie, and it mixed impressive practical effects with groundbreaking CGI at the time to bring the character to life. With Michael Jai White as the tortured antihero, the movie had a terrific leading man opposed by John Leguizamo’s character of Clown, who could transform into the monstrous Violator when backed into a corner.

A movie night with Spawn followed up by Blade would make for a great double feature. Blade is already available on 4K Blu-ray for only $21.41 (was $35). Alternatively, you can grab Blade Trilogy for just $12 on 1080p Blu-ray.

Spawn Compendiums: Color Editions (Paperback)

If you want to check out the comic books that turned Spawn into a household name, the Compendium Collection paperbacks are a nice budget-friendly option. Image Comics has been releasing updated, full-color editions over the past few years. Seven massive volumes are available now. Volume 7 was just published September 9. Fair warning: All of the Compendiums eclipse 1,000 pages, so these take up considerable shelf space. Each one retails for $60, but you can save some cash at Amazon right now. Volume 1, for instance, is discounted to only $34.

Spawn: Origins Deluxe Editions (Hardcover)

The Deluxe Editions are printed on larger, higher-quality paper and are hardbound rather than paperback. Each Deluxe Edition comes with a fancy slipcase. But while these are large books in their own right, each one contains about half as many comics as the Compendium Editions.

No list rounding up the best movies of the 20th century would be complete without One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. In celebration of the film’s 50th anniversary, One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest is releasing on 4K Blu-ray with a collectible steelbook case. Slated to release November 11, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest Limited Edition Steelbook is available to preorder for only $30 (was $35) at Amazon. This edition also comes with a voucher to redeem a digital copy of the movie. A standard edition is available to preorder for $25 at Walmart.

The steelbook case features Jack Nicholson’s character pondering an escape from the prison of his mind and the psychiatric hospital, represented by a giant bird cage. The subdued color palette is similar to the film’s original posters used to promote the theatrical release.

Presented in native 4K resolution (2160p) with HDR10 and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, this edition of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest should be the best way to watch this all-time classic in 2025. This edition doesn’t come with a standard 1080p Blu-ray disc. One reason for this might be that the Blu-ray version has been out of print for a while.

There aren’t too many extras included here, but you can extend your viewing with the Conversations on Cuckoo and Completely Cuckoo featurettes as well as around 20 minutes of deleted scenes.

Sadly, it looks like the audio commentary track featuring director Milos Forman and his producers Saul Zaentz and Michael Douglas has not been included here, which is a pity because it provided fascinating insight into how challenging it was to film this adaptation.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is based on Ken Kesey’s 1962 novel of the same name. Kesey’s novel is regularly included in lists of the best works of fictions of the 20th century, so it’s fairly remarkable the adaptation became one of the best movies of its era. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest was nominated for nine and won five Academy Awards, including Best Actor for Nicholson and Best Picture.

Nicholson’s portrayal of Randle McMurphy remains one of his most memorable roles. McMurphy, a career criminal, avoids being sent to a labor farm and is instead imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital. He soon finds himself at odds with Nurse Ratched (Louise Fletcher), a manipulative healthcare worker who controls patients with fear, abuse, and intimidation. Nicholson’s character is a quick-witted foil to the cold and clinical Ratched, and his rebellious nature gradually has a positive impact on his fellow inmates. In addition to Nicholson and Fletcher, the film also featured an ensemble cast of actors like Danny DeVito, Christopher Lloyd, Will Sampson, and Sydney Lassick, and William Redfield.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey

As mentioned above, On Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is adapted from the book of the same name. Kesey’s novel is mostly adapted faithfully for the big screen. Still, one of the major differences here is that the story is told from the viewpoint of Chief Bromden, giving readers more insight into his life and making him the main character.

At the same time, he witnesses the battle of wills between McMurphy and Ratched. The film also made several other changes to the source material–like having a completely different ending–but it does keep the gist of the novel intact.

If you’re interested in reading it, you can pick up the One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest: 50th Anniversary Hardcover Edition for $17.58 (was $30) or the paperback version for $13 (was $19).

The other option available here is the Audible version of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. This is a new reading of Kesey’s novel by Walk Hard actor John C. Reilly, and it runs for over 10 hours. Featuring over 75 content partners across games, movies, and streaming, viewers can expect new game announcements alongside trailers and exclusive clips.

Samsung’s ‘Fan Edition” Wireless Earbuds Are Just Enough

If you’re a Samsung fan and you see “FE” branding, you probably think a few things. The first thing that comes to mind is probably, “I’m saving some money.” For those not fluent in Samsung lingo, FE, which is actually short for “Fan Edition,” is the equivalent of SE in Apple-speak, meaning it’s a more budget-friendly alternative to the flagship-level gadgets. But it’s not just savings you want when you’re seeking something FE-branded—you want quality, too. Maybe you’re not expecting every bell and whistle in the wheelhouse, but you want a lot of it.

I want a lot of the good stuff, too, and I don’t want to pay for it, which is why when I got my hands on Samsung’s recently released Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 FE, my expectations were elevated. And at $150, they might be even more elevated than usual. It’s not that $150 is too much money in the world of wireless earbuds, it’s that there are a ton of competitors in that range, and a lot of them punch above their weight class—the OnePlus Buds 4, Nothing’s Ear, and Google’s Pixel Buds 2a, for example.

So, the next logical question is how do the Galaxy Buds 3 FE hold up against competition, and if we already know there are compromises built in, what exactly are they? On that front, I’ve got good news and bad. Let’s start with the good stuff.

I won’t mince words; I really like how the Galaxy Buds 3 FE sound. For wireless earbuds in this price range, they sound (at the risk of hyperbole) shockingly good. They don’t have as much bass as some competitors like OnePlus and its recent pair, the OnePlus Buds 4, but I personally don’t mind that at all—I don’t key in on bass when it comes to wireless earbuds. I’m more likely to appreciate buds that mitigate distortion, and I would describe the Galaxy Buds 3 FE as pleasantly unmuddled.

I find that, despite being less bassy, the Galaxy Buds 3 FE have a really natural soundstage, with clear mids and highs, which make vocals feel audible and present, and accompanying music distinct. I tested the Galaxy Buds 3 FE back-to-back against the OnePlus Buds 4, listening to the new Gorillaz single, “The Happy Dictator,” and the experience was kind of jarring, but I think I prefer Samsung’s audio tuning. I could hear vocals upfront, background vocals felt artfully tucked away, arpeggiated synths occupied their own rightful space in the mid and high range, and I didn’t detect much distortion even with the volume turned almost all the way up. If you emphasize bass, you’ll most likely disagree with me, but the Galaxy Buds 3 FE are my preference.

What’s the FE catch?

So, there’s the highlight—the sound. But what about the stuff you may not like? For me, it’s the active noise cancellation (ANC). As much as I like listening with the Galaxy Buds 3 FE when I’m in a relatively quiet environment, I find that the appeal withers slightly in the cacophony of New York City living. One of the biggest tests you can put a pair of ANC wireless earbuds through is New York’s subway system—a gauntlet that I send almost every pair of wireless earbuds and headphones through—and in this case, I would say the Galaxy Buds 3 FE barely pass the test. When a train arrives, I basically can’t hear what I’m listening to, and even while I’m riding the subway, I’m still getting a decent amount of ambient noise from my environment.

I don’t think that it’s a passive noise cancellation issue—the default eartips feel comfortable—but even if it were, the Galaxy Buds 3 FE also only come with two tip sizes, which is notably less than other similarly priced competitors, which offer between three and five sizes. I’ll give Samsung a little slack here if just because the last pair of ANC wireless earbuds that I tested are Bose’s QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen), which cost $300 and are designed specifically to cancel the heck out of all the noise around you. They’re the best at noise cancelling of any wireless earbuds I’ve put in my ears. But still, I was expecting more from Samsung, especially when I had no such complaints about the OnePlus Buds 4.

While the Galaxy Buds 3 FE are fine for mild instances of noise cancellation—they’re mostly fine on the sidewalk in New York when I’m walking place to place—they’re not the wireless earbuds I would spring for on an airplane or during a loud New York City subway commute.

Things that are fine with the Galaxy Buds 3 FE

You’ve got the good and the not-so-good, but what about the in-between? There are levels to this stuff, after all. I think the best encapsulation of things that are just fine in these wireless earbuds is the squeeze and touch controls. They’re not the best I’ve ever used, but they’re very okay. Interestingly, Samsung includes two types of controls on the Galaxy Buds 3 FE. To adjust volume, you swipe up or down on the buds, while skipping tracks, pause/play, and turning ANC on and off are done through squeezing. Like any squeeze controls, you’ll have to adjust to the sensitivity at first, but once you do, they work fine for the most part.

I say “the most part” because I do find—because the Galaxy Buds 3 FE are so light—that squeezing them does jostle them in my ear a bit. They’re not flying out mid-commute or anything, but squeezing does feel marginally more tenuous than on other pairs of wireless earbuds. Adding to that tenuousness, I think, is Samsung’s “blade” design, which is borrowed from its flagship Galaxy Buds 3 Pro for this version of the FE. My complaint doesn’t have anything to do with how the blade design copies AirPods—I actually like the look of the Galaxy Buds 3 FE—but one thing I don’t like is how it feels on my fingers.

Because of the way the buds are situated when they’re in your ears, the edge of the blade faces forward, which means when you go to squeeze, you may actually be squeezing a sharp angle, which (while not the biggest problem in the world) just doesn’t feel altogether right. I’d much rather squeeze a flat surface (a flatter stem with a bigger surface area). It’s a small tactile detail in the scheme of things, but as long as we’re getting nerdy about this stuff, it’s worth mentioning.

Though I don’t love the feel of the blade design, I do actually like the look. They’re plain in the scheme of things, but I find them kind of elegant. I also like how they appear when they’re in my ears, though the blade is a decent length and can sometimes end up sticking out if I don’t properly put them in my ears. Haters will say that the blade design is just an AirPods ripoff, and congrats, haters, you’re right. That being said, AirPods look nice (if a little boring), in my opinion, and I think that Samsung does a good job of putting a little twist on the Apple minimalism.

In keeping with the theme of the section, the battery life of the Galaxy Buds 3 FE is also just okay. The buds are rated for 6 hours of battery life while ANC is activated and 8.5 hours when it’s turned off, and with my usage, those estimates seem accurate. With the charging case, the total hours of battery is up to 24 hours with ANC on and up to 30 hours with it off. That’s about the same battery you’d get with most wireless earbuds in this price range, give or take a half hour or so. Sorry folks, if the longest battery life is a priority, you’ll just have to spend more money on wireless earbuds.

Feature-wise, the Galaxy Buds 3 FE are decently equipped but not brimming. You get adaptive ANC, 360 audio (Samsung’s version of spatial audio), transparency mode, and you can choose EQ presets in the Galaxy Wearable app, but there’s no personalized tuning test like there is on the OnePlus Buds 4 or Nothing Ear. That last one is a bit of a bummer since personalized EQ can dramatically change the sound quality in my experience.

Feature-rich or not, the Galaxy Buds 3 FE are still nice-sounding buds at a fairly affordable price. I think Samsung has room to improve in the ANC department, though, and if you’re looking for the most of anything, going FE just isn’t the way. But if you like Samsung’s Galaxy products and you’re more focused on quality sound over anything else, these might be your pick without costing too much.

Hades 2’s physical edition is published by Nintendo, so the full game and upgrade pack are included on cartridge. It comes in a Nintendo Switch 2 case, but the game card will also work on original Switch, Switch OLED, and Switch Lite. The Switch 2-branded version is the only physical edition of Hades II for Nintendo consoles.

On Nintendo Switch 2, Hades II is rendered in 1080p at 120fps. Handheld mode also runs in 1080p resolution at 60fps. On original Switch, Hades II will run in 720p at 60fps. If you already have an early access save file on PC, you will be able to transfer it to your Nintendo console.

The digital edition is $30 on Switch or Switch 2, and the upgrade pack is free.
