Samsung confirms Unpacked for early July

Samsung’s summer Unpacked is officially on, starting at 10AM ET on Wednesday, July 9th. The invitation features a jazzy little bop and the words “Ultra Unfolds,” so I think it’s safe to assume we’re getting that foldable Ultra phone the company previously hinted at.

The invitation seems to suggest a thinner device, or at least that’s how I’m reading it. That would line up with some of the rumors, and super-thin foldables has certainly been a trend so far this year. I’ve wedged plenty of chunky foldables into the side pocket of my yoga pants, so I for one would welcome this development.

Per usual, Samsung is offering a little incentive to reserve a device for pre-order ahead of the big reveal: $50 in credit to use at Samsung.com. That’ll cover a chunk of the cost of a case for a foldable phone, which run between $85 and $100 for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 on Samsung’s website right now. If the Ultra comes with an Ultra price tag, it might be worth shelling out a little more to protect it from the wear and tear of daily use. Just a little free advice.

We now know that the 2025 edition of Amazon’s blockbuster Prime Day sales event will start on July 8, and it’s set to be bigger than ever as it will run for four days. But you don’t need to wait until then for tasty deals. There will be plenty in the lead up to the event, including this one for the Levoit Core 400S air purifier. At $183, the device is $37 off. It’s not quite the lowest price we’ve seen for this model. However, it’s not too far off that mark of $176.

The Core 400S has a cylindrical shape with vents at the top and a touch display that shows air quality readings. You’ll be able to get a sense of the current air quality in your space at a glance with a color-changing ring that will light up in blue, green, orange or red. The 360-degree filtration system is said to be capable of capturing over 99.9 percent of pollutants as small as 0.3 microns, such as dust, pet dander and pollen.

There is an auto mode that should suffice for maintaining air quality, but the Core 400S is compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant voice controls too. The fan isn’t too loud, even when it’s operating at maximum speed — the volume topped out at 62dB in our testing. Meanwhile, at $50 each, the air filter replacements aren’t too expensive compared with those from many of Levoit’s competitors.

Dreamsettler, the follow-up to early internet inspired browser game Hypnospace Outlaw, has been cancelled

A little over three years since it was announced, Dreamsettler, the spiritual sequel to Hypnospace Outlaw, has been cancelled. Yesterday, lead developer Jay Tholen shared a video simply titled “Dreamsettler is canceled”, where he explained some of his reasoning behind the decision. “This is not a joke, and I’m sorry everyone,” Tholen wrote in the description of the video.


After noting that he “didn’t want to make a video like this,” the developer went on to explain that Dreamsettler is cancelled, going on to say that this means “it’s not coming out, it won’t be finished. This was a mutual decision between the publisher and I. They didn’t pull support or anything, and they tried what they could to keep it going, but it’s just time to stop it.”

He also noted how it was bad timing given that a Patreon to help keep the project going was only launched earlier this year. There are also plans to try to release the part of the game that do exist, including the soundtrack from returning composer The Chowder Man, in some shape or form.


In a short version of events, Tholan explained that with Dreamsettler, they had a budget this time, so “we tried to plan the game from the top down more or less, where we knew all the beats that would happen, and what expensive things we could afford to film or have made for the game, and how much money we could afford to pay a programmer for X amount of time.” In turn, there was a specific schedule to follow, and Tholen noted he has “never successfully made a game based on a design document.”


He later said that he thinks he’s a “hard person to work with. On a normal team, where there wasn’t some guy who needed to work a weird way, they would have finished this game, and it would have been great, but I just couldn’t get it going, you know? And it’s too late. Hopefully you all stick around, and don’t hate my guts, and hopefully we’ll talk soon.”


In the years since announcing Dreamsettlers, Tholen did also work on Slayer X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengeance of the Slayer, a boomer shooter spin-off made by the in-world Hypnospace Outlaw character Zane – former RPS staffer Liam reviewed it and had some positive but mixed feelings on it. Co-founder John Walker reviewed Hypnospace Outlaw back in the day too, coming away from it quite enamoured.

Prime Day is Amazon’s members-only shopping event, which means you’ll have to be a Prime subscriber on Prime Day to take advantage of most of the savings. Amazon still offers a 30-day free trial to new Prime subscribers, so you can start your free trial closer to July and participate in the event.

Amazon Prime Day 2025 will be back this year on July 8 through July 11.

Amazon Prime Day typically comes around annually in July. In the last few years, Amazon has also had its “Big Deal Days” in October, which is effectively a second Prime Day and the unofficial kickoff to the holiday shopping season.

Prime subscribers can go to Amazon’s site on Prime Day to see all of the exclusive deals they have access to. Prime subscribers do not have to do anything additional to get Prime Day sales: the discounts you see on product pages will show up in your cart automatically. If you’re not a Prime subscriber and you go to Amazon to shop on Prime Day, you’ll likely see tons of items on sale but only “with Prime;” those discounts will not be available to those who are not active Prime subscribers.

Technically yes, but even if you do not pay for a Prime membership, you should still check out Amazon on Prime Day. While most Prime Day deals will be exclusively available to subscribers, there are always a handful of sales available to all shoppers. Amazon distinguishes between them very clearly: you’ll see “Prime exclusive” on product pages near the deal pricing on the discounts that are only available to paying members.

Separately, it’s very likely that other retailers like Walmart, Target and Best Buy will have their own competing Prime Day sales during that time frame, too. So if you’re not keen on shopping at Amazon at all, it’s worth checking out other retailers during the week of Prime Day to see if they are matching Prime Day deal prices.

Grounded 2 will have less frequent, much larger early access updates

Obsidian will be shaking up its early access strategy for the release of Grounded 2 next month. Rather than the monthly micro-updates that were the norm when Grounded launched, the developer has decided that something more like every four to five months will be the norm.

In an interview with GamesRadar, Grounded 2 game director Chris Parker laid out the studio’s thinking.

“When we started with Grounded 1 in early access, we were trying to do almost monthly updates. That was a hassle and it didn’t work. It didn’t make the community happy and it didn’t make the team happy. So we are looking at longer, meatier updates that are in the four to five month range,” he said.

It’ll more directly mimic what Obsidian’s strategy was later on in the first Grounded’s early access development cycle, “where the team was getting out a huge chunk of whatever area of the yard, with all-new creatures, armor, new equipment, new mechanics, or whatever it might have been,” said Parker.

Grounded 2 will also include more of a storyline to follow, he noted. The team wants to preserve the fun survival-build experience of the first game but at the same time wants there to be some “narrative flair” to follow along with. That shouldn’t be impossible, I expect, given that Obsidian is much better known for making heavily story-driven roleplaying games rather than survival craft sandboxes.

XRP Early Buyers Accelerate Profit-Taking as Regulatory Wins Bolster XRP Ecosystem

XRP XRP has staged one of the strongest rallies among crypto majors this cycle, but early retail holders are heading for the exit under the surface.

Now trading above $2 — more than thrice its pre-rally base from October 2024 — XRP has become one of the best-performing large-cap tokens over the past 8 months. Investors who bought below 60 cents are sitting on gains upward of 300%, prompting a sharp pickup in profit-taking.

According to on-chain data from Glassnode, the 7-day simple moving average (SMA) of realized profits from XRP wallets hit $68.8 million earlier this month, the highest in over a year. That’s a clear sign of distribution pressure, with early accumulators cashing out into strength as the token tests key resistance levels just below its 2021 peak.

That profit-taking pressure may help explain XRP’s failure to break above $2.20 in recent sessions, despite multiple bullish headlines and technical tailwinds.

While the broader setup remains positive, supported by regulatory clarity in the U.S. and Ripple’s growing push into tokenized asset infrastructure, the near-term price action reflects a supply overhang from long-term holders.

A recent CryptoQuant analysis showed that the 1-year cumulative buy/sell quote volume difference for altcoins (excluding BTC and ETH) — a proxy for net investor flows — currently stands at negative $36 billion. That’s a sharp reversal from December 2024, when the metric briefly flipped positive, marking a local top for altcoins.

Since then, it’s been a one-way bleed, with “altcoin investors MIA,” CryptoQuant independent analyst Burak Kesmeci said in a Thursday post.

Despite pockets of strength in XRP, SOL, and a few narrative tokens tied to real-world assets (RWAs), the broader altcoin ecosystem remains stuck in a bear market, he noted.

Unless risk appetite returns or capital flows back into Layer 1s, DeFi, and gaming, hopes of an “altseason” may continue to fade into the summer.

Dune Awakening’s early meta is an unbalanced, helicopter-infested nightmare, and I never want it to end

The Dune: Awakening community is torn right now. In the Deep Desert, roaming hordes of orniphopters (the Dune equivilent of a plane or helicopter) are dominating the end game and making an already dangerous area even more perilous. The thing is, I don’t think this is a bad thing. In fact, I think it’s good for the game in the long run.

For those who aren’t familiar, the Deep Desert is a no-holds-barred open world PvP area that makes up the majority of Dune: Awakening’s end game. It’s a vast, mostly barren, landscape where the best materials can be found. It’s also a place where any player can kill you and snatch any money or materials you have on you.

So the stakes are high. At the moment, the Deep Desert is being patrolled by Assault Orniphopters. They may not be able to crush you to death anymore, but they’re still armed with missiles, allowing pilots to shoot down other orniphopters with relative ease. One can be evaded easily enough, but when eight of them fly towards you, you’re done for.

As you can imagine, there are numerous complaints about these flocks of orniphopters dotted around social media and Dune: Awakening community hubs. Take this Reddit post conveying the sadness tied to the Deep Desert compared to Hagga Basin. Or this one, in which user nowheels64 makes a plea for the lock-on missile launchers that appear in the recent Dune movies. The frustration is real. It’s palpable.

Those annoyed by the Deep Desert all have valid opinions. It is undoubtedly frustrating when you’re on your own, mining materials, and get blown to pieces from some unseen threat on high. Losing all your things is a bummer, there’s no two ways about it.

But I’m going to make an argument that the scurge of orniphopters isn’t inherently a bad thing for the Dune: Awakening end game. The Deep Desert, the Landsraad – it’s all about collaboration with your fellows within the faction you have chosen. Player guilds are attached by the hip to the Landsraad, and objectives assigned each week are so lofty as to practically require group effort. Could one person theoretically farm up 1,000 Adept swords and hand them in on their own? Sure. Is that the intention? Obviously not.

So where does this leave the player, fresh from Hagga Basin? Well, they’re outnumbered and unable to make a real dent in the Landsraad. The only option is to join a guild, to dive headfirst into the social pool of a very community-focused end game.

Dune: Awakening doesn’t force you to do this, to be a social animal, but it’s so obviously the point that the only other thing Funcom could do to emphasise it further is to build a big neon sign that says “join a guild” in the small PvE slice of the Deep Desert.

I appreciate that this isn’t everyone’s bag. In fact, history has taught us it’s not the majority of people’s preferred way to play. Throne and Liberty lost a lot of players who didn’t want to touch the guild zone control mechanics, no matter how cool sieges looked. Dark Fall Online was incredibly PvP focused, and incredibly niche as a result. In World of Warcraft, if you do a War Mode world quest and see another player PvP tagged, a lot of folks will just /wave and go on with their business.

But with a game like Dune: Awakening, the conflict between the factions is so integral to the mechanics, and even the narrative. You’re on Arrakis during the war of assassins, Landsraad bonuses are faction-wide. It’s Atreides vs Harkonnen baby, all the way down into the mud. To shy away from that would be to separate from the source material in a way I’m not convinced Funcom wants to do.

I’m not going to sit here and tell people they’re playing the game wrong: you play the game you pay for however you want. There’s nothing wrong with popping back to Dune: Awakening when a new faction or major story update happens. But in terms of the Deep Desert, I hope this spirit of danger remains. It can be aggravating, yet it’s also a necessary force to push players into the wider faction conflict. And isn’t that what Dune is really all about?

Prime Day is Amazon’s members-only shopping event, which means you’ll have to be a Prime subscriber on Prime Day to take advantage of most of the savings. Amazon still offers a 30-day free trial to new Prime subscribers, so you can start your free trial closer to July and participate in the event.

Amazon Prime Day 2025 will be back this year on July 8 through July 11.

Amazon Prime Day typically comes around annually in July. In the last few years, Amazon has also had its “Big Deal Days” in October, which is effectively a second Prime Day and the unofficial kickoff to the holiday shopping season.

Prime subscribers can go to Amazon’s site on Prime Day to see all of the exclusive deals they have access to. Prime subscribers do not have to do anything additional to get Prime Day sales: the discounts you see on product pages will show up in your cart automatically. If you’re not a Prime subscriber and you go to Amazon to shop on Prime Day, you’ll likely see tons of items on sale but only “with Prime;” those discounts will not be available to those who are not active Prime subscribers.

Technically yes, but even if you do not pay for a Prime membership, you should still check out Amazon on Prime Day. While most Prime Day deals will be exclusively available to subscribers, there are always a handful of sales available to all shoppers. Amazon distinguishes between them very clearly: you’ll see “Prime exclusive” on product pages near the deal pricing on the discounts that are only available to paying members.

Separately, it’s very likely that other retailers like Walmart, Target and Best Buy will have their own competing Prime Day sales during that time frame, too. So if you’re not keen on shopping at Amazon at all, it’s worth checking out other retailers during the week of Prime Day to see if they are matching Prime Day deal prices.

Crypto Prime Brokerage FalconX in Early Talks for IPO in 2025: Sources

FalconX has held early-stage talks to issue an initial public offering and could file to go public as soon as this year, three sources close to the matter told Decrypt—a move that would boost the firm’s bid to meet growing institutional demand for digital assets. 

The cryptocurrency prime brokerage firm has held informal discussions with bankers and consultants to explore the IPO process, those sources said. FalconX is considering tapping public markets as it ramps up its pursuit of strategic partnerships and acquisitions, with the aim of meeting institutional investors’ growing appetite for cryptocurrencies. 

The firm has not yet hired an investment bank—the first official step toward a public listing.  

FalconX last received an $8 billion valuation in a $150 million funding round in 2022. 

The firm declined to comment on whether it has explored issuing an IPO.

As part of its discussions, FalconX has also explored ways to raise its public profile, two sources told Decrypt. It’s a move that could aid FalconX’s bid to shore up fresh capital for its growing firm, which has recently ramped up its dealmaking. 

“When you launch an IPO, you need to have a story,” one individual familiar with the matter told Decrypt.“You’re selling yourself to the investing public.” 

FalconX’s discussions come amid an IPO boom across the cryptocurrency industry. 

An unprecedented number of digital asset companies, including Bitcoin financial services firm Fold, crypto software wallet Exodus, and trading platform eToro, have gone public in 2025. Among them is stablecoin issuer Circle, whose roughly $1.1 billion public listing on June 5 formed the largest crypto IPO in recent history, fueling industry experts’ expectations that more digital assets companies will soon jump into the fray. 



Over the past few weeks, several crypto companies have signaled they will soon attempt to tap public markets. Shortly after Circle’s blockbuster IPO, centralized cryptocurrency exchanges Bullish and Gemini filed for IPOs. Meanwhile, digital assets trading platform Kraken and Chinese billionaire Justin Sun’s Tron Group plan to file with U.S. federal regulators to go public as well, according to recent reports from Bloomberg and The Financial Times.

Financial services provider for crypto

Founded in 2018, FalconX debuted as a crypto-focused prime brokerage, providing access to markets for clients to trade directly on exchanges. Since then, it has matured into a full-fledged trading firm and digital assets services provider. 

FalconX aims to be “a financial services provider for the next generation of crypto,” FalconX co-head of markets Joshua Lim told Decrypt, declining to comment on whether FalconX has been exploring raising fresh funds.     

The firm has three verticals—a markets business, a custody and staking business, and a prime brokerage direct-market-access business. It operates similarly to a principal trading business or a dealer, committing capital for its clients. 

Over the past year, FalconX has ramped up its dealmaking to support its widening mandate across its business verticals. The deals position the firm to serve a wider range of clients at a time that investors’ interest in crypto is booming.  

In early 2025, FalconX unveiled it had acquired crypto derivatives-focused trading firm Arbelos Markets as part of its foray into the highly profitable global derivatives market. 

Several months later, FalconX formed a strategic partnership to integrate international banking group Standard Chartered’s banking infrastructure and foreign exchange capabilities into its businesses, bolstering its institutional services. And in late May, the firm unveiled its deal with Cantor Fitzgerald to draw on a significant credit facility collateralized by Bitcoin—the “first step in a broader credit framework” that could allow FalconX to serve more traditional institutional investors, according to a LinkedIn post from FalconX CEO Raghu Yarlagadda. 

“There are a lot of potential partnership or acquisition targets that provide a service in between our established business verticals—services that a customer might otherwise have to piece together from outside our firm,” Joshua Lim said. “We want to strategically partner or buy companies that can fill those gaps.”
