The Game Modes

Summary: Game Modes

New Mode: Overload: In Overload, squads clash over one device that must be carried into enemy territory to score. Momentum swings sharply as the device changes hands, making every pickup, player escort, and interception a pivotal moment in this all-new 6v6 mode.

Other Announced Modes: Black Ops 7 Multiplayer delivers a full slate of fan favorites at Beta and launch, from Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Search & Destroy to Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, Gunfight, Control, and more.

Test your skills across an impressive array of Multiplayer modes, including a mix of classics like Team Deathmatch and Domination, more recently introduced fan favorite modes like Kill Order, and the brand-new Overload. Each mode has been fully tuned and adjusted for the best experience within Black Ops 7.

New Mode: Overload (Available at Beta)

Bring the Overload Device to the enemy zones to overload them.

Fight for possession of the Overload Device in this new push and pull 6v6 respawn mode that challenges teams to overload the enemy’s control zones. Only one device spawns on the map at a time, so get in there and grab it before the other side can. The team in charge of the device must protect the carrier as they run toward one of two designated zones near the enemy team’s starting spawn. Disrupt one of the zones in time to score a point and spawn a new device in the field.

The position of the Overload Device is always indicated on the HUD and Tac-Map, so be prepared for an intense tug of war as the device changes hands often throughout the match. Any player holding the item benefits from a personal radar to help detect nearby enemies attempting to steal it away. At halftime, teams switch sides. Stick together, get to the device, and overload the enemy.

Other Announced Modes

Other modes arriving during the Beta and launch include — but are not limited to — the following:

Team Deathmatch (Available at Beta)

Eliminate enemy players to earn score for your team.

Domination (Available at Beta)

Capture, hold and defend objectives to earn score for your team.

Search and Destroy

Teams alternate between detonating and defusing a bomb. No respawns.

Kill Confirmed (Available at Beta)

Recover dog tags to score for your team and deny enemy scores.

Free-For-All

Eliminate enemies to earn score. The first to reach the score limit will achieve victory.

Hardpoint (Available at Beta)

Capture and hold the Hardpoint zone to earn score for your team.

Gunfight

Eliminate all enemy players using pre-determined classes to win the round. No respawns.

Kill Order

Eliminate the enemy HVT while keeping your HVT alive. HVT kills earn bonus score for your team.

Control

Take turns attacking and defending zones with a limited number of lives for each round.

Alternate Modes

Face Off brings small team combat to the more compact maps (showcased later in this blog). Scorestreaks are disabled, keeping combat focused on the ground.

Face Off Domination

Capture, hold and defend objectives to earn score for your team. Scorestreaks disabled.

Face Off Team Deathmatch

Eliminate enemy players to earn score for your team. Scorestreaks disabled.

Face Off Kill Order

Eliminate the enemy HVT while keeping your HVT alive. HVT kills earn bonus score for your team. Scorestreaks disabled.

Face Off Kill Confirmed

Recover dog tags to score for your team and deny enemy scores. Scorestreaks disabled.

Skirmish

For larger scale Multiplayer battles, nothing beats a good Skirmish. In addition to the 16 core maps launching with Black Ops 7, players can look forward to two 20v20, objective-focused maps dropping teams into expansive environments with enhanced means of traversal including wingsuits, grappling hooks, and vehicles all assisting you and your squad get to the next objective with time to spare, and dominate the other team.

Training Course (Beta)

Enter a new training course designed to get you up to speed on basic movement and advanced combat skills. Perfect for new and returning players, this course will teach you all you need to know to get the most out of your Operator in the field, including the ability to practice Wall Jumps, and perfect the new grenade-based Finishing Move!

Private Matches

Invite your friends, add bots, and customize the rules of your favorite Multiplayer modes in Private Match. Add Spectators to cheer on the match and tune CODCaster settings across visual and camera options. Or play solo, using Private Match to explore different maps and modes at your own pace.

The Maps

Summary: The Maps

Maps Overview: Black Ops 7 launches with 16 Core 6v6 maps and two Skirmish combat zones, designed for tactical intensity across a wide variety of locations. Built around Treyarch’s signature three-lane philosophy, each location balances fast gunplay with strategic routes, offering arenas sized for close brawls or long-ranged dominance.

16 Core Launch Maps: Six maps debut through the Beta, with 16 available at launch. From oil rigs and robotics labs to neon-soaked city streets and Arctic crash sites, every setting delivers unique combat encounters. Fan-favorite classics Express, Hijacked, and Raid return, rebuilt for the 2035 setting.

Skirmish Maps: For larger-scale combat, Skirmish 20v20 introduces Hightown and Military Island. Fight through urban towers, courtyards, and parks or storm a fortified coastal compound. Both maps feature vehicles, vertical ascenders, and wide-open sightlines, delivering sprawling battles that amplify the chaos and scale of Black Ops combat.

Launching with 16 6v6 Multiplayer maps plus two large-scale 20v20 Skirmish maps, Black Ops 7 has been built to deliver intense, tactical action across a variety of environments from the Atlantic Ocean to the Alaskan tundra. The 2035 setting imagines near future possibilities while remaining grounded in the Black Ops universe, each map is designed for fast gunplay and around the original three-lane design Treyarch is famous for.

Expect a variety of map sizes catering to every type of player, from those craving instant action on very small-sized arenas to those wanting longer-ranged, tactical engagements across medium-sized combat zones. Below are the maps available to play during the Beta as well as coming at launch, including the return of three Black Ops 2 fan favorites!

Core 6v6 Launch Maps

Blackheart

Core 6v6, Playable at Beta, Small-sized

Head out to sea on a drilling platform extracting essential resources for The Guild. Battle on and around the central drill or duke it out on the barge around mineral containers, pumps, and massive nautical vehicles. Flank enemies around the diving bell and watch your feet when jumping over the grinder pit.

Cortex

Core 6v6, Playable at Beta, Small-sized

A cliffside compound hides a clandestine laboratory conducting experimental research for The Guide. Vat chambers hold subjects suspended in fluid, the area supported by an adjoining autopsy and morgue. Lock down the underpass to control the heart of the map or branch out to the narrow skybridge overlooking the water.

Exposure

Core 6v6, Playable at Beta, Medium-sized

Deploy to an Australian Outback installation at the eye of a vast solar array, in the aftermath of a fierce tank assault on the plant. Except for an interior control room, most of the action is focused on the outer grounds here. Try your luck traversing the suspended Guild crate, jumping from here to the yellow ladder to climb even higher. Also expect a variety of towers, pumps, and storage units provide ample cover throughout.

Imprint

Core 6v6, Playable at Beta, Medium-sized

Brave the frigid cold on this mid-sized robotics complex producing drones and battle tanks for The Guild. Explore the inner facility branching through the center and watch your step along the sheer drops circling the perimeter where long-ranged combat dominates. Press the control panels by the inclinator for a lift through the snow.

The Forge

Core 6v6, Playable at Beta, Medium-sized

Visit the heart of research and development for The Guild’s latest lethal tech. Built on the harbor, The Forge welcomes visitors with a demo and product lobby showcasing the latest advancements in autonomous weapon design. Navigate the two wings of the complex, joined by covered walkways and the central range where rotating walls circle a defense turret.

Toshin

Core 6v6, Playable at Beta, Medium-Sized

A monorail derailment has caused chaos downtown in a shopping district outside the station. Neon lights illuminate the streets at every turn, a Guild advertisement outshining all the others. Battle through the park and market, look for upper vantage points across a central thoroughfare as you encounter new dangers at every road junction. You’ll need street smarts and a fast trigger finger to conquer this urban map.

Colossus

Core 6v6, Medium-sized

Board the floating Colossus Resort, listing further into the ocean after sustaining heavy damage. Take your chances by the atrium and bar or move through the maintenance rooms, baggage claim and loading bay. Smell the fresh salt air across the main site of the wreckage outside where a pair of wrecked helipads now sit in the debris-strewn ocean waters.

Den

Core 6v6, Medium-sized

Travel to a sprawling Japanese Guild compound set high over the surrounding locale. A large courtyard dominates the central area with branching pathways toward the driveway, helipad, and impressive conference room. Engage in close combat in the dojo and challenge your agility traversing the damaged roof connecting the armory and garage.

Flagship

Core 6v6, Small-sized

Explore the underside of a gigantic aircraft carrier docked for repairs, sparks flying overhead as mechanical arms weld sections of the hull. Battle through the underside of the ship where an ascender offers access up to the gantry or move out from underneath the hulking mass and fight over the surrounding work site.

Homestead

Core 6v6, Medium-sized

Witness the Northern Lights high over David Mason’s Alaskan childhood home. Fight in the warmth of the cabin or brave the elements using the rocky terrain to flank enemies. Watch for occupants in the various outbuildings and dive into the frigid water to try and reposition out of sight, ignoring hypothermia risks in favor of a surprise attack from below.

Paranoia

Core 6v6, Small-sized

There’s something going on at the hospital, but is it all in your head? While half of the tiny map appears like a normal medical facility, the other half erupts into a psychedelic dreamscape, objects floating upward where a red light shines through the broken ceiling. Hold onto your sanity or risk being administered for life.

Retrieval

Core 6v6, Large-sized

A Guild stealth aircraft has crash landed in the remote frozen tundra, leaving a heaping wreckage behind. Hike through the snow and the meltwater flowing down the map, battling around the rugged outcroppings and within the crash site itself. An ice cavern provides opportunities for longshots while underpasses and a discarded crate work as stellar ambush points.

Scar

Core 6v6, Medium-sized

Fighting breaks out in the rustic mountain village of Silverbrook, where quad-tanks, military vehicles and the latest in offensive equipment are parked within old frontier hamlet with a general store, health clinic, the Old Bear Restaurant, and a carpentry business. Fire down at targets from the motel balcony, explore the commandeered Post Office as you traverse the immediate surroundings of this rural Alaskan outpost.

Express

Core 6v6, Returning from Black Ops 2, Medium-sized

Express returns for even more epic battles at the iconic high-speed train station, now under new management courtesy of Sunrise Railways. Engage enemies around the tracks, within and over the parked train, and throughout the inner terminal. Watch for sharpshooters in the control room and the covered walkways and get out of the way of passing trains.

Hijacked

Core 6v6, Returning from Black Ops 2, Small-sized

Everyone’s favorite superyacht returns as Hijacked glides into harbor in Black Ops 7. From bow to stern, engage in nonstop action down the length of the vessel, colliding on the center deck where all lanes converge. Keep your eyes on the opposing vantage points and flex your close-quarters skills down in the engine room.

Raid

Core 6v6, Returning from Black Ops 2, Medium-sized

Experience high-end living at its best as Raid returns with as a Japanese beachside mansion compound. Trade shots across the courtyard and circular drive, enjoy a very brief moment of tranquility in the garden, and take a dip in the pool. The home interior is as impressive as ever, including the large garage, open kitchen, bedrooms, and other accoutrements made for a life of luxury.

Skirmish 20v20 Maps

Mission: Edge

Skirmish, 20v20, Large-sized

Take to the streets of Avalon’s downtown district amidst towering buildings, fighting in and around upscale hotels and cafes, through underpasses, courtyards, and parks. Take the stairs or attach to ascenders to reach higher vantage points or skip the climb altogether and stick to the outer roads. Commandeer a vehicle to outrun enemy snipers or beat them at their game by taking flight in a helicopter, bringing your squad along with you to fire from the passenger seats. Or stay on the ground, moving from roof to roof, claiming zones and eventual victory.

Mission: Tide

Skirmish, 20v20, Large-sized

Deploy to the site of a large-scale military compound built on the coastal waters of Avalon. Fight and drive on the shore, up or around the buttress rocks toward the compound itself, ascenders providing quick access over the outer fortifications to the surrounding and inner battlements, which feature corner towers providing incredible sightlines. Within the compound itself, explore the armory, mess hall, barracks, garage buildings and other structures, including ladders and staircase access for both vertical and ranged maneuvering.

Weapons Detail and Scorestreaks

Summary: Weapons Detail and Scorestreaks

Primaries, Secondaries, Melee: At launch, Black Ops 7 delivers 30 weapons, including 16 debuting for the first time in franchise history. From versatile Assault Rifles and rapid-fire SMGs to devastating Shotguns, heavy LMGs, precise Marksman Rifles, and powerful Snipers, every Beta weapon is shown, and each offers new ways to perfect your Loadout.

Gunsmith and Global Weapon Builds: Black Ops 7’s Gunsmith expands weapon crafting with Global Builds usable across all modes, detailed stat comparisons, and robust cosmetic options. Coming at launch, new Build Code Sharing lets you easily showcase your Gunsmith skills and swap builds with friends.

Scorestreaks: Bring out the big guns. Black Ops 7’s Scorestreaks reward aggressive, objective-driven play with devastating tools — like the Rhino, a remotely piloted robotic soldier wielding a minigun — and the deployable D.A.W.G., a groundcraft packing rockets, turrets, and defense systems. Each Scorestreak comes with Overclocks boosting power and efficiency.

Below, we’ve listed out the various weapon classes with descriptions for those you’ll be utilizing in the upcoming Beta.

Assault Rifles

The most versatile weapon class, Assault Rifles combine power, accuracy, and handling into a package that performs best in mid-range fights but in the right hands remain competitive up close and at a distance.

M15 Mod 0: An adaptable full auto Assault Rifle combining well-rounded damage, range, and handling for a weapon that performs admirably across a variety of combat scenarios.MXR-17: A full auto Assault Rifle with excellent accuracy and range, offset by its more modest mobility and rate of fire.Peacekeeper Mk1: Full auto Assault Rifle delivering exceptional mobility and handling for its class, but at the cost of high recoil and limited range.

Additional Assault Rifles

Expect three additional Assault Rifles to use at the launch of Black Ops 7.

SMGs

These compact weapons pair a fast fire rate with quick handling, perfect for Operators on the move. They can compete out to the mid-range, too, though you’ll need to land more shots to compensate for the lower damage dealt outside their ideal range.

Graz 45k: A versatile full auto SMG offering a solid balance of CQB power, handling, and recoil. Dravec 45: A full auto SMG that’s highly stable and effective at longer ranges, but with less raw CQB power. Razor 9mm: Full auto SMG with an extreme rate of fire, but limited range and slower handling.

Additional SMGs

Expect three additional SMGs to use at the launch of Black Ops 7.

Shotguns

The rulers of close-quarters combat, Shotguns deliver a spread of shot that devastates nearby targets. For more distant foes, it may be wise to swap to a different weapon.

M10 Breacher: A pump action charge Shotgun. Hold the trigger to improve hip and ADS spread for a tighter pellet spray.Echo 12: Rechambering double-barrel Shotgun. Fires two semi-automatic shots between rechambers. Great range and a high damage potential with back-to-back shots.

Additional Shotgun

Expect an additional Shotgun to use at the launch of Black Ops 7.

LMGs

LMGs more than make up for their slow handling and mobility with large magazines outputting solid damage. Pressure enemy targets and keep firing long after your foes have been forced to reload.

MK.78: Full auto LMG. Great damage and a high ammo count, limited by slower mobility and handling.

Additional LMG

Expect an additional LMG to use at the launch of Black Ops 7.

Marksman Rifles

Marksman Rifles combine power and precision for a weapon class that performs well at middle and longer distances, typically offering burst or semi-auto fire.

M8A1: A four-round burst Marksman Rifle with very high damage and an extremely fast rate of fire within the burst, balanced by a moderate burst cooldown.

Additional Marksman Rifles

Expect two additional Marksman Rifles to use at the launch of Black Ops 7.

Sniper Rifles

Sniper Rifles inflict devastating damage at long range, offering precision and power at the cost of handling and mobility. Hold breath while ADS to steady.

VS Recon: Bolt-action Sniper Rifle with a quick rechamber and moderate recoil and stability.XR-3 Ion: A three-round burst Sniper Rifle with high power and low recoil but slower handling and a short pre-fire delay.

Additional Sniper Rifle

Expect an additional Sniper Rifle to use at the launch of Black Ops 7.

Pistols

Swapping to your Pistol is always faster than reloading your Primary Weapon. These back-up sidearms are perfect for finishing off an injured opponent and can hold their own when properly wielded.

Jäger 45: Semi-auto Pistol. A reliable sidearm with a very fast rate of fire and low recoil.CODA 9: Full auto Pistol with high damage and rate of fire offset by strong recoil and a shorter effective range.

Additional Pistol

Expect an additional Pistol to use at the launch of Black Ops 7.

Launchers

Launchers are your best counter against enemy Scorestreaks and vehicles, delivering a powerful payload against armored targets.

A.R.C. M1: Charge Launcher. Hold the trigger to charge up a devastating energy beam that can pierce through enemies. Deals high damage to vehicles and Scorestreaks.

Additional Launcher

Expect an additional Launcher to use at the launch of Black Ops 7.

Melee Weapons

Every Operator deploys with a Dedicated Melee Weapon. When it’s time to get personal, this is the tool to get the job done.

Flatline MK.II: Melee weapon with high damage and moderate attack speed.

Additional Melee

Expect an additional Melee weapon to use at the launch of Black Ops 7.

Gunsmith

The more you use a weapon, the better you’re able to tailor it to your needs. As they level up, the vast majority of your weapons allow access to additional Attachments, equippable via the Gunsmith system.

Attachments and Stats

Different weapons and weapon classes offer access to certain Attachment types, unlocked by leveling up each weapon through continued use in your deployments. By default, most weapons support up to five Attachments equipped at a time, though in certain cases such as when using the Gunfighter Wildcard, this limit can be expanded.

Want to see how your weapon stacks up against others at launch? Pull up the stats sheet in the weapon selection screen, displaying detailed information on your weapon’s performance, incorporating any Attachments on the selected weapon. Check damage distribution and range and in-depth info on each weapon’s firepower, accuracy, mobility, and handling. Compare the selected weapon with other weapons, checking their stats against one another so you can zero in on exactly the right build for your playstyle.

Weapon Customization

Through a variety of means, you’ll also unlock customization items for your weapons, including Camos, Reticles, Accessories, Decals, and Stickers. Apply your preferred look within Gunsmith. These are earned via Challenges, the Battle Pass, Bundles, and other in-game activities.

Weapon Build Sharing

New to Black Ops 7 and coming at launch, players can now easily share their favorite weapon Loadouts with friends and squadmates in the form of a Build Code. By sharing and importing Build Codes, you can get a facsimile of the weapon directly implemented into your Loadout. Note that players can only use Weapon Builds (with associated attachments) for armaments and attachments they’ve already unlocked.

Firing Range

The Firing Range returns, allowing you to test different weapons and weapon builds on a variety of targets. See exactly how much damage each shot inflicts at a variety of ranges, adjust between still and moving targets, and test your recoil patterns on the wall.

New to Black Ops 7, you can now access Gunsmith and all your Loadouts within the Firing Range in Multiplayer, and import Weapon Build codes to try out other players’ creations.

Scorestreaks

The heavy hitters of Multiplayer combat, Scorestreaks are awarded to players who chain actions together in a single life, including eliminations, assists, objective plays, and more, reaching the required Score. Equip up to three Scorestreaks (four with the High Roller Wildcard), providing a variety of advantages from intel gathering to lethal payloads that can turn the tide of the match.

Omnimovement and Innovations

Summary: Omnimovement and Innovations

Wall Jumps: Omnimovement expands with Wall Jumps, letting you leap between vertical surfaces to reach new heights, cross hazards, or chain routes together. Up to three jumps can be linked, with momentum balancing the flow for fast, tactical movement.

Movement and Mayhem: Treyarch is dialing in Multiplayer flow, removing Tactical Sprint as a default option and shifting it into Perks. Additionally, the Body Shield mechanic evolves with a brutal twist — jam a grenade onto your captive and send them staggering into enemies before detonation!

Wall Jumps

With additional innovations to Omnimovement, you have an increased choice in your traversal capabilities. The image above shows a few examples of locations within Multiplayer environments where walls or other vertical sections can be optionally leapt to, then from, to rapidly maneuver across a section of a map, often to gain height. Wall Jumps can be “chained” together up to three times, but with a loss of inertia each time to keep the momentum balanced. Expect to use Wall Jumps to reach higher vantage points, leap over dangerous gaps in a map, or to find different routes to take.

Note: You can perfect your Wall Jumps in the Multiplayer Training.

Optional Tactical Sprint

Treyarch has also taken a close look at feedback and made tuning adjustments across the board for a more controlled experience, including the removal of Tactical Sprint — a limited-duration boost of speed allowing faster movement than standard sprint — as a default movement option. Instead, this ability can be granted through an optional Perk in Multiplayer.

The Body Shield mechanic introduced into Black Ops 6 is as entertaining as it is practical, allowing you to grab an opponent from behind and drag them around the map, using them to block incoming fire. Usually, this ended with the opponent’s demise, or you letting the enemy go. For Black Ops 7, there’s an additional, tactical way to finish your foe courtesy of a well-timed grenade.

Once you have your adversary locked into a Body Shield, you can jam a grenade onto them and shove them forward. They’ll stagger for a few seconds before the grenade detonates and other enemies can be caught in the explosion.

Note: You can hone your timing with this explosive technique in the Multiplayer Training.

Meet the Operators

Summary: Operators

Meet the Operators: Multiplayer in Black Ops 7 features two opposing factions: JSOC, led by David “Section” Mason, and The Guild, commanded by CEO Emma Kagan. Players can choose from over 20 Operators across both sides, with a selection to play as during the Beta.

Progression: Classic Prestige

Progression: Prestige and Weapon Prestige

Classic Prestige:

Level XP is earned everywhere you play in BO7: Co-Op Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies, and Call of Duty: Warzone (at Season 1), unlocking gear as you progress through Military Levels 1–55. Classic Prestige also returns with 10 Prestiges of rewards to climb through including exclusive Operator Skins, Blueprints, and additional rewards.

Weapon Prestige: For the first time since Black Ops 4, Weapon Prestige deepens the Weapon journey wherever you play. After maxing a Weapon, enter Weapon Prestige to reset the Weapon, unlock an exclusive Prestige Attachment and Universal Camo, and continue the grind. Each Weapon has 2 Weapon Prestiges to complete before reaching Weapon Prestige Master – featuring 250 levels with unique milestones and a final Universal Camo to obtain.

Level Unlocks: Now Across More Modes

Players gain Level XP wherever they play in Black Ops 7 Multiplayer, Co-Op Campaign, Zombies, Dead Ops Arcade 4 and (at Season 1) Call of Duty: Warzone. Initially, Level XP progresses along Military Levels 1–55. Each Level unlocks new game content, beginning with new Default Loadouts until Custom Loadouts are unlocked at Level 4. After that, new Levels award a variety of useful content, including new Weapons, Equipment, Scorestreaks, Perks, Wildcards, Operators, and other major features and pieces of content.

Prestige and Prestige Master

The Classic Prestige system is back in Black Ops 7: Players who reach Military Level 55 can begin the Prestige leveling process at any time, offering further rewards including content that’s exclusive to the Prestige leveling journey. The choice to Prestige is entirely up to you.

There are 10 Prestige Levels to climb through and each time you enter a new Prestige, expect a Level Reset, a Permanent Unlock Token, and a Prestige Icon reward displayed in your Level insignia, along with other Prestige-specific rewards.

  • Prestige themes will continually escalate beyond traditional definitions in later Prestiges to cover elements within the Black Ops 7 narrative.
  • Expect a deeper Black Ops 7 Prestige system for the dedicated player who makes it to Prestige Master. In addition to ultimate rewards like Operator Skins and Weapon Blueprints, expect additional Prestige Master Titles and Colors at regular intervals throughout your Level 1000 grind, to further showcase your prowess.

Progression: Weapon Prestige

Weapon Prestige returns in Black Ops 7 for the first time since Black Ops 4, delivering deep progression and rewards to the weapon leveling process. The option to enter Weapon Prestige appears after reaching a weapon’s max level. As with Player Prestige, Weapon Prestige is available across multiple modes: Co-Op Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies, and (at Season 1) Call of Duty: Warzone.

Level Unlocks

Each weapon features two Weapon Prestige levels, followed by Weapon Prestige Master providing 250 additional levels to climb through with a unique Camo awarded to players who get to the end.

Entering Weapon Prestige 1 activates the following effects:

  • Level and Attachment Reset: Your Weapon Level returns to one, all Weapon Builds are locked, and all earned Attachments are relocked and must be earned again through leveling up the weapon. This does not include Optic Attachments (or Weapon Camos), which remain permanently unlocked once obtained.
  • Weapon Prestige 1 Unlocks: Entering Weapon Prestige 1 unlocks the following:
    • A unique Prestige Attachment that’s different for every weapon.
    • The choice to unlock one of your weapon’s attachments permanently.
    • A unique Weapon Camo that can be equipped to that weapon, or any other weapon.
    • A Prestige Build is automatically created for the weapon you just Prestiged, with the Prestige and permanently unlocked Attachments applied to it, as well as the Weapon Camo.
  • Your weapon receives a Prestige icon next to it, which changes as you progress (from 1 to 2, to Master, to Master Maximum Level) and is shown in the kill cam. At this point, you can level up your weapon again, just as you did before, and once it reaches Max Level, you can optionally enter Weapon Prestige 2:
  • Weapon Prestige 2 Unlocks: Entering Weapon Prestige 2 unlocks the following:
    • Another choice to unlock one of your weapon’s attachments permanently.
    • A weapon-specific Weapon Charm.
    • A second, unique Weapon Camo that can be equipped to that weapon, or any other weapon.
  • Hit Weapon Prestige 2 and you can level up your weapon one more time, before you finally (and automatically) enter Weapon Prestige Mastery.
  • Weapon Prestige Mastery Unlocks: Enter Weapon Prestige Mastery and expect the following:
    • All attachments for your weapon are now permanently unlocked.
    • Your weapon’s level remains at the number it was previously but continues all the way to 250.
    • This final levelling occurs at a faster rate than before.
    • Expect additional XP rewards and Weapon Camos at levels 100, 150, and 200.
    • Unlock the ultimate reward for your weapon when you reach the Level 250 maximum: a unique final camo for you to showcase, with some of the Level 250 camos being returning fan-favorites!

Black Ops 7 Weapon Prestige offers a deep progression with each Weapon, virtually no more wasted Weapon XP, and double-quick progression if you utilize any 2XP Weapon Tokens throughout the grind.

Progression: Career and Weapon Camos

Summary: Career and Weapon Camos

Calling Card Challenges, Daily Challenge Re-Roll & Weekly: Do you have what it takes to reach Multiplayer 100 Percenter? Black Ops 7 includes a deep set of Multiplayer Calling Card Challenges split across three categories: Career, Hardened, and Prestige. For the first time, Re-Roll one of your Daily Challenges. Starting in Season 1, complete Weekly Challenges week after week in each Season to unlock new Loadout items and Camo rewards.

Weapon Camos: It wouldn’t be Multiplayer without a new Camo grind! Black Ops 7 introduces more Mastery Camos than ever seen before with the addition of a Camo chase in Co-Op Campaign, and more ways to earn Camos across multiple systems in the game. Learn about updates to the Core Camo journey and additional ways you’ll be earning Camos in Black Ops 7.

And More: Claim missed rewards from past content while earning XP toward chosen unlocks in the Armory. Unlock more progression and XP with Mastery Badges and check your talents out against others with deep stat tracking, global leaderboards, and customizable profiles.

Black Ops 7 offers up an impressive number of in-game challenges to test every aspect of your combat mettle, granting players with plenty of awesome new rewards upon completion.

Calling Card Challenges

A deep set of Calling Card Challenges awaits you in Multiplayer at launch, classified into three categories: Career, Hardened, and Prestige. Complete each Challenge to earn a Calling Card and XP to represent the accomplishment. Complete each Calling Card set to unlock an Animated Mastery Calling Card. Players who manage to complete all set will unlock the ultimate “Multiplayer 100 Percenter” Animated Calling Card which will classify you the ultimate Challenge completionist when equipped.

Daily Challenge Re-Roll

Daily Challenges return, with more player control over how you earn your Daily Challenge Bonus than ever before. New in Black Ops 7 is the ability to Re-Roll one Daily Challenge per mode day. Stuck on a final Challenge or don’t want to change your playstyle to complete one of the Dailies you were given? Re-Roll it for something that might better suit your playstyle.

Weekly Challenges

Treyarch is also bringing Weekly Challenges to Black Ops 7, starting in Season 1. Weekly Challenges will feature a new piece of unlockable Loadout content week after week in the post-launch seasons, including Weapons, Attachments, and Scorestreaks. Complete any six of a Week’s Challenges across all four modes (Multiplayer, Zombies, Co-Op Campaign & Warzone) to unlock that week’s new Loadout item. Additionally, earn two Camos per Season by earning half and all of the available Weekly Challenge rewards.

Weapon Camos

Black Ops 7 features more ways than ever to earn Weapon Camos, and Multiplayer is just part of the journey. Each Weapon features multiple Camos to unlock through completing certain challenges, starting with the Military Camos before moving on to Special and Mastery Camos. Within the Challenges menu, you can track the Camo Challenge progress for every weapon, in addition to viewing those that are near completion, so you don’t miss out on rewards that are just within reach.

Weapon Camos: Overview

Here’s how this all breaks down:

  • For the first time ever in Call of Duty, Campaign will have a Weapon Camo journey! This means you can earn and unlock Weapon Camos across Co-Op Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies, and (at Season 1) Call of Duty: Warzone.
  • This means every one of the 30 launch weapons has a total of 16 Weapon Camos to unlock
  • Nine Military Camos (different for every mode, the same for each Weapon)
  • Three Special Camos (different for every mode, the same for each Weapon)
  • Four Mastery Camos (different for every mode, the same for each Weapon)
  • There are 16 different Mastery Camos across all four modes.

Black Ops 7: Weapon Camo Updates and Improvements

Guided by development, observations, and community feedback, expect a host of improvements to the Weapon Camo grind. Here are some we can reveal:

  • Fewer Headshots & Better Camo Pacing: Players now only need 80 Headshots per weapon to complete all nine Military Camos, and the pacing of Camo unlocks is more consistent as you progress (earn your first camo after 5 Headshots, then every 10 Headshots after that – 5 / 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 / 80).
  • Military Camos: Instead of requiring Headshots, Shotguns will now require Point Blank Kills and Sniper Rifles will require One Shot Kills to progress.
  • Special Camos: There are now three Special Camos per weapon instead of two. Special Camos are now the same per weapon and can only be equipped to that Weapon once unlocked (like the Military Camos).
  • Equipping Universal Camos: You can now equip any Universal Camo to any Weapon; the previous requirement of having to unlock five Military Camos on the Weapon before equipping a Universal Camo has been removed.
  • Call of Duty: Warzone Camo Challenges: The Treyarch and Raven teams have monitored and re-evaluated more difficult and frustrating Warzone Camo Challenges. You can expect Warzone Camo Challenges in Season 01 that are more reasonable to complete.
  • Camo Hub & Tracking: The Camo Hub, Camo Challenge Tracking, automatic display of Camos Near Completion, and the “Last Used” Weapon Camo display feature, will be present in Black Ops 7 at launch.

Additional Ways to Earn Camos: In addition to the Core Camo grind, there will be many additional ways to unlock unique Universal Camos in Black Ops 7:

  • Weapon Prestige: mentioned in the Weapon Prestige section above, each Weapon will feature three unique Universal Camos that can only be unlocked by progressing deep into Weapon Prestige with that Weapon. All Weapons introduced in Black Ops 7seasons will also come with 3 new unique Universal Camos to chase and unlock.
  • Weekly Challenges: starting in Season 1, each Season will feature 2 Universal Camos obtainable via the Weekly Challenge system. The first Camo is awarded for completing half the Weeks in a Season, the final Seasonal Mastery Camo is awarded for completing all Weeks in the Season.
  • Seasonal Events: You can anticipate an ample number of desirable Universal Camos during Black Ops 7 Seasonal Events and Updates
  • REDACTED: Reach [[CLASSIFIED]]  to unlock the [[CLASSIFIED]] Mastery Camo

Mastery Badges

Unlock and progress through Mastery Badges for every Black Ops 7 Weapon, Scorestreak, piece of Equipment, and Field Upgrade. Use each item to progress through Bronze, Silver, and Gold Badges while also earning XP in the process. Earn enough Gold Badges within a category of content (ex: Lethal Equipment) and you’ll unlock a Calling Card to represent Mastery of the category and all Gold Badges will automatically upgrade to Diamond. New in Black Ops 7, earn Diamond for all Multiplayer categories to unlock an Animated Calling Card representing total Multiplayer Mastery!

Statistics and Profile

Combat Record, Leaderboards, and the Medal Collection return in Black Ops 7. Compare your performance and accolades against your Friends and the Global Call of Duty player base.

Customize your Showcase, Wallpaper, and Clan Tag. For your Showcase, select up to three Calling Cards, three Mastery Badges, and the Operator you want to appear in your Profile viewable by other players. By default, your Showcase Operator will be the Operator and Skin used in your last-played mode, and the Showcase Weapon held will be the Primary Weapon in that Mode (Favorite Loadout in MP).

Call Of Duty Movie: Activision Is Asking What Fans Want It To Be Based On

by admin September 22, 2025

A Call of Duty movie is in the works now at Paramount, but it’s still early days and there isn’t much to go on at this stage. But now, Activision is seeking fan feedback about what they want a live-action Call of Duty movie to be “inspired by.”

A survey being sent to members of the community feedback program Recon Squad asks fans to rank what they want the film to be inspired by. The choices include Black Ops, Modern Warfare, Zombies, or something other than Black Ops or Modern Warfare. Alternatively, Activision wants to know if people would instead want a totally new Call of Duty story to serve as the inspiration for the movie.

The survey was first reported on by Detonated.

EXCLUSIVE | NEW #CallofDuty Recon Survey asks Players to RANK what they want the ‘Live-Action Movie’ to be INSPIRED BY, with these options:

💥 Black Ops
💥 Modern Warfare
💥 ‘Call of Duty Zombies Story’
💥 NOT BO or MW (Ghosts, AW, etc)
💥 NEW Call of Duty Story pic.twitter.com/38hgahd2d9

— DETONATED (@DETONATEDcom) September 18, 2025

Of course, Activision and Paramount aren’t going to make the movie based on fan feedback alone, but the companies are clearly keen on gathering notes from fans.

Paramount boss David Ellison said in the Call of Duty movie announcement that he’s a big fan of the series, singling out the original World War II games, all the way through Black Ops and Modern Warfare.

“We’re approaching this film with the same disciplined, uncompromising commitment to excellence that guided our work on Top Gun: Maverick, ensuring it meets the exceptionally high standards this franchise and its fans deserve. I can promise that we are resolute in our mission to deliver a cinematic experience that honors the legacy of this one-in-a-million brand–thrilling longtime fans of Call of Duty while captivating a whole new generation,” Ellison said.

Activision has been trying to make a Call of Duty movie for years. In 2015, the company established Activision Blizzard Studios and announced it would make an entire universe of Call of Duty movies. At the time, the team said it had plotted out “many years” of Call of Duty movies based on Call of Duty sub-brands like Modern Warfare and Black Ops, but none have ever come to be. Stefano Sollima (Sicario: Day of Soldado) was at one point attached to direct one of the Call of Duty movies, with Oscar-nominated writer Scott Silver signed on to write.

Iconic Hollywood director Steven Spielberg reportedly wanted to make a Call of Duty movie, but he apparently had a series of demands that Activision wasn’t willing to agree to.

The next Call of Duty game, Black Ops 7, launches in November. A multiplayer beta for Black Ops 7 launches in early October.

Legion Tours of Duty Campaign

by admin September 19, 2025

Atomic Mass Game announced today a new game mode for their epic Star Wars miniature game, Star Wars: Legion called Tours of Duty.

Tours of Duty offers a narrative style of game play for Star Wars: Legion, where players play through a series of e missions called a Story Arc. Unlike tournament play, these unique missions and rules have continuity to them, akin to the epic sagas played out in Star Wars media. The outcomes of each mission affect future played games.

Each player chooses a Paragon, the main character for the army, who will lead the charge and earn experience and gain ranks and special abilities. Paragons are non-named characters, out to prove their leadership skills for the chosen army. Players also earn Supply Points through playing games, which grants them access to things like unique abilities, Orbital Bombardments, Medevacs, etc. The Story Arc a player selects has three Agendas, and once they’ve completed at least two of their Agendas they get to play in the Turning Point Mission; narrative and possibly asymmetrical scenarios that evoke the feeling of the climatic battles within Star Wars. Armies can be of any faction, and begin the Story Arc with 600 points (which is exactly what comes in the new starters!)

You can read the full announcement here on AMG’s Website and download all of the print-and-play materials on their documents page.

DreamHack to bring the Call of Duty League to the UK in 2026

by admin September 13, 2025

Dexerto sources can confirm that DreamHack is making its return to the United Kingdom, bringing not only DOTA 2, but also bringing back the Call of Duty League to the UK for the first time since the visit to the Copperbox Arena for the Modern Warfare CDL season.

First revealed by Insider Gaming and later confirmed by Dexerto sources, DreamHack will be at the National Exhibition Centre in March. While it’s always worth taking dates with a pinch of salt since there are still a few months until the 2026 season begins, DreamHack is indeed expected to run from March 26-29th, 2026.

Dexerto sources can also reveal that this will be for the Black Ops 7 season’s second major, and it will not be the only time that the Call of Duty League returns to Europe for this season, as Paris will host Major IV.

It is widely known for bringing and hosting multiple esports competitions, and that won’t stop in the United Kingdom, as DreamHack is reportedly attempting to capitalize on the gap in the market left by the Insomnia events. While there is one major title yet to be confirmed, DreamHack UK 2026 will feature DOTA 2 and the Call of Duty League.

Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode is borrowing some of the worst aspects of Call of Duty: Warzone, but at least its ring of fire instantly kills you

by admin September 11, 2025

Battlefield Studios has officially unveiled the first details of the Battlefield 6 battle royale mode, which was first announced in August at the game’s multiplayer reveal event. At the time, the developer didn’t confirm its official name, or really discuss any of its aspects.

It did announce, however, that the mode would be coming to Battlefield Labs, the community testing environment that’s been running in the background since February. That moment has now arrived.

In a blog post, the developer revealed some key, top-level goals for Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode. It still doesn’t officially have a name, but the post essentially makes it sound like a modern version of Battlefield 5’s Firestorm battle royale mode, with some features from Call of Duty: Warzone.

Destruction will play a key role in the mode, of course, but you can also expect many of the core game’s gadgets and vehicles to be present – including ways to acquire armored vehicles for late-game situations.

Anyone who played games like PUBG, Apex Legends, or Fortnite should be very familiar with how it’s going to flow. The post confirms respawn mechanics, for instance.

That said, this iteration comes with its own interesting twists on the battle royale formula. For one, classes from the multiplayer side will be present here, with one example being the Support’s ability to revive downed teammates.

Indeed, classes in general will play a larger role than you might expect. Each member of the squad gets to choose the class they’re going to play as, just like traditional multiplayer. These choices cannot be changed after the match has begun.

Each player starts the match with two gadgets from their class, and they’re able to level up during the match to unlock new Traits (like faster armor plate equip speed) for use within the same match. Throughout the game, there’ll be ways to earn XP, such missions with a variety of goals.

Battlefield 6’s BR mode will, of course, feature an ever-encroaching ring of fire that gradually makes the playable area smaller and smaller. Unlike most BR games, however, this one will instantly kill anyone caught outside of it, eliminating any out-of-ring play.

Ground loot is present, split across five tiers of rarities. Attachments appear to be separate lootable items this time around, which is an interesting change. Outside of other, expected items, you’ll also come across Strike Packages, which are effectively killstreaks.

Unfortunately, the mode will also allow players to bring in custom weapons from multiplayer, which can be called in using an item found in loot chests and on the ground.

This particular test will focus only on four-player squads, with a maximum of 100 players in each match. It’s not clear how high the player count is going to be in the final version, but 100 is within expectations for BR modes.

Battlefield Studios promised to return later to share more after feedback has been collected, and it’s certainly going to be interesting to see how players respond to some of that.

Only nine franchises make up the top 20 all-time best-selling PlayStation chart in the US – can you guess how many are Call of Duty games?

by admin September 10, 2025

In honour of PlayStation’s 30th birthday yesterday in the US, data company Circana has dug out figures showing the top 20 best-selling PlayStation video games ever (date-range Jan 1995 to July 2025). Don’t get too excited.

Call of Duty dominates it, occupying nine of the top 20 spots, though Rockstar’s games lead the list, with Grand Theft Auto 5 top, Red Dead Redemption 2 fourth, GTA San Andreas fifth and GTA Vice City ninth.

The surprise performer for me is Insomniac’s relatively recent Marvel’s Spider-Man series, with the debut 2018 game in sixth and the PlayStation 5-launch-adjacent Miles Morales expandalone in 12th.

Elsewhere you’ll spot Minecraft, The Last of Us, God of War, Skyrim, and Rainbow Six Siege.

Watch on YouTube

The top-20 best-selling PlayStation games in the US ever, according to Circana senior director Mat Piscatella, are as follows.

Best-selling PlayStation games (all PlayStation platforms, US)

  1. Grand Theft Auto 5
  2. Minecraft
  3. Red Dead Redemption 2
  4. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
  5. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019)
  6. Marvel’s Spider-Man
  7. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
  8. Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War
  9. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
  10. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022)
  11. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
  12. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  13. The Last of Us
  14. God of War (2018)
  15. The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim
  16. Call of Duty: Black Ops
  17. Rainbow Six: Siege
  18. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
  19. Call of Duty: WW2
  20. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

The list changes when you re-order it according to dollars made. There are now 11 Call of Duty games in the top 20, though GTA 5 still leads and Red Dead Redemption 2 is now third. The older GTA games San Andreas and Vice City drop down, presumably as they were less monetised, as does the cheaper Minecraft. But Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man series gains a third entry with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 showing up in 18th.

The most welcome change to this list, though, is Guitar Hero 3 appearing in 10th – its income presumably buoyed by the expensive plastic pack-in guitar peripheral and buyable, downloadable song packs. I miss that series.

Here’s the top-20 highest grossing PlayStation games in the US ever (date-range Jan 1995 to July 2025).

Highest-grossing PlayStation games (all PlayStation platforms, US)

  1. Grand Theft Auto 5
  2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019)
  3. Red Dead Redemption 2
  4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022)
  5. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
  6. Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War
  7. Minecraft
  8. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
  9. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
  10. Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock
  11. Marvel’s Spider-Man
  12. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
  13. Call of Duty: Black Ops
  14. Call of Duty: WW2
  15. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
  16. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2023)
  17. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
  18. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
  19. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  20. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

But that’s not all, stats fans! While spelunking in the archives, Piscatella dug up two other notable best-seller lists. One of them was for PlayStation 1 games only, which is relevant because it was the 30th anniversary of PS1 yesterday (9th September) in the US. And the other was for the best-selling Dreamcast games ever. Why? Because the Dreamcast was released on the same day, 9th September, albeit four years later than PS1, in 1999.

In the PS1 list we see the origins of some of PlayStation’s longest-running series, such as Gran Turismo and Metal Gear Solid – series I’m somewhat surprised not to see in the best-selling all-PlayStations list above. We also see Spyro doing well, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater doing well, and the Driver series doing well – which has since disappeared. The most recent game in that series was the somewhat overlooked Driver: San Francisco from 2011, in which you could body-shift from car to car. Also present: Final Fantasies 7 and 8, and Crash Team Racing.

The best-selling PS1 games of all time (Jan 1995 to July 2025) in the US are as follows.

Best-selling PS1 games (US)

  1. Gran Turismo 2
  2. Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back
  3. Gran Turismo
  4. Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped
  5. Jampack Series: PlayStation
  6. Frogger (1997)
  7. Spyro the Dragon
  8. Crash Bandicoot
  9. Tekken 3
  10. Driver
  11. Final Fantasy 7
  12. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2
  13. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater
  14. Metal Gear Solid
  15. Namco Museum: Vol. 3
  16. CTR: Crash Team Racing
  17. WWE Warzone
  18. Driver 2
  19. Final Fantasy 8
  20. Spyro Dragon 2: Rage

On Dreamcast, meanwhile, we see an alarming amount of sports games. But besides them there are some absolute classics: Sonic Adventure, Shenmue, Crazy Taxi – I didn’t realise it was this popular. There’s SoulCalibur of course, Bass Fishing, Resi Code Veronica. What a console!

The best-selling Dreamcast games of all-time (Jan 1995 to July 2025) in the US are as follows.

Best-selling Dreamcast games (US)

  1. Sonic Adventure
  2. NFL 2K
  3. Crazy Taxi
  4. NFL 2K1
  5. NBA 2K1
  6. NBA 2K
  7. SoulCalibur
  8. Ready 2 Rumble: boxing
  9. Shenmue
  10. World Series Baseball 2K1
  11. Sonic Adventure 2
  12. Virtua Tennis
  13. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2
  14. Bass Fishing
  15. Resident Evil Code Veronica
  16. The House of the Dead 2
  17. NFL 2K2

More Black Ops 2 Maps Teased For Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7

by admin September 8, 2025

Ahead of Black Ops 7’s November release, Treyarch dropped a brief video to answer some questions about the game’s multiplayer. The developer discussed some of the movement changes coming to Call of Duty in Black Ops 7 as well as teased more remastered maps from 2012’s Black Ops 2.

A lot of popular Call of Duty maps have been remastered over the years, and Black Ops 7 is already confirmed to have three at launch. Raid, Hijacked, and Express return this year, but they’ve all been remastered in previous Black Ops games, leaving fans eager for different maps to appear.

When asked if players can get some Black Ops 2 remasters that have never been seen before, Treyarch design director Matt Scronce simply answered, “Yes, you can.”

Maps like Yemen and Plaza have been highly requested over the years, so hopefully these locations will finally return to Call of Duty as remastered maps in Black Ops 7.

Scronce also discussed the movement for Black Ops 7 multiplayer. The developer re-confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 doesn’t feature jet packs or wall-running mechanics. Instead, the game includes redefined omnimovement with a wall-jump ability, which can be chained together for up to three jumps.

“On that second and third jump, you’re going to lose a little bit of momentum,” Scronce explained. “We honestly want to make sure people aren’t ping ponging around the maps.”

Activision recently revealed that the previously announced Carry Forward program for Black Ops 7 has been cancelled, mostly. Weapons, operator skins, and other cosmetics from Black Ops 6 will no longer transfer to Black Ops 7. Only double XP tokens and GobbleGums will continue to carry forward.

You’ll be able to try out the game’s multiplayer next month, as detailed in our guide on how to get access to the Black Ops 7 beta.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 launches on November 14 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. You can find highlights of all major Black Ops 7 announcements here, which includes details on an endgame for the campaign, a massive round-based Zombies map, and a futuristic design for multiplayer.

Call Of Duty Fans Spiral After Activision Reportedly Passed On Spielberg

by admin September 6, 2025

The new video game movie gold rush is finally seeing Call of Duty get adapted for the big screen, but we still don’t know who is writing or directing the military shooter’s Hollywood debut. According to Puck News, Steven Spielberg was lobbying for the job but Activision turned him down. The three-time Oscar winner wanted full creative control that the publisher reportedly just wasn’t willing to give. Call of Duty fans are in shock.

“This has got to be one of the biggest fumble in video game movie history,” reads one of the top threads on the Call of Duty subreddit this morning. “Imagine turning down the guy who made Saving Private Ryan to go with the studio responsible for the Halo show,” wrote another.

Multiple movie studios were pitching Activision on handling the film adaptation of the top-grossing annual franchise, including Universal whose package included Spielberg as the director. According to Puck News, the publisher, now owned by Microsoft, balked at the “Spielberg Deal” which would have given the Schindler’s List director “top-of-market economics, final cut, and full control over production and marketing.” So Activision ultimately went with Paramount instead, which released the slick, feel-good military thriller Top Gun: Maverick in 2022.

As fans have pointed out, there’s an incredible irony in a series like Call of Duty passing on a collaboration with Spielberg. The original Call of Duty was a direct response to the Medal of Honor series, which Spielberg produced the first three games for. Activision than hired away the guys who made Medal of Honor: Allied Assault to form Infinity Ward and make its own WWII shooter. Moments from Saving Private Ryan like the Normandy landing scene helped inform the DNA for what a classic Call of Duty action set-piece even is. And then, nearly 25 years later, Activision turned around and said, “no, thank you”?

Video game movie adaptations are fraught enough as it is without turning down someone you can rely on to at least have a clear and cohesive vision for what it’s going to be on top of being one of the safest bets in Hollywood. Paramount may be able to deliver a silver screen windfall for Activision regardless, and I’m sure there’s no shortage of high-profile directors who will share creative control with the publisher for enough dollar signs in their contract. But some Call of Duty fans will probably never forgive the company for not taking a risk on what could have been.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 Update Reduces File Size, Causes Problems For Players

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 Update Reduces File Size, Causes Problems For Players

by admin September 6, 2025

File optimization for large games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 sounds like good idea, especially when more space is needed on consoles. The latest Black Ops 6 update went live this week and it appears to have significantly shrunk the file size. It’s also caused issues with some players and seemingly deleted the game from their systems.

A member of GameSpot’s staff shared screenshots that demonstrated a drop from 222.1 GB before the update to 122.8 GB afterwards.

On top is the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 file size before the update, and the new file size is shown below.

However, there are multiple reports from players on Reddit that the update deleted Black Ops 6 from their consoles. The update apparently removed Black Ops 6’s core installation and left behind the Call of Duty HQ launcher, which takes up a lot less space. Black Ops 6 can still be reinstalled alongside download content packs and the multiplayer suite. But given the large amount of added content purchased and downloaded by players since the game’s debut, the amount of file size reduction might vary from player to player.

PlayStation 5 players: with today’s Call of Duty update, you need to go to Mange Installs and re-install Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Multiplayer Pack.
The pack is 98GB download, but will only take up 27GB on the console after install. pic.twitter.com/VRA2IBeZcl

— CharlieIntel (@charlieINTEL) September 4, 2025

The Version 1.080 update also includes aspects that may be more well-received, including bug fixes, balancing tweaks, a new multiplayer map, and more modes like Reckoning Directed for zombies.

Some fans were recently upset to learn that the Carry Forward option for weapon and operator skins purchased in Black Ops 6 won’t be carried over to Black Ops 7. And the life cycle for Black Ops 6 is winding down now that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set to launch on November 14 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Paramount And Activision Strike Deal To Make Call Of Duty Movie

Paramount And Activision Strike Deal To Make Call Of Duty Movie

by admin September 3, 2025

In the latest “Can’t believe this hasn’t already happened” installment of news, a Call of Duty film is in the works. Paramount, the movie and television studio behind Top Gun: Maverick, Halo, and more, announced today that it struck a deal with Call of Duty publisher Activision to produce a live-action feature-length film.

“Under this milestone partnership, Paramount will develop, produce, and distribute a live-action feature film based on Call of Duty, designed to thrill its massive global fan base by delivering on the hallmarks of what fans love about the iconic series, while boldly expanding the franchise to entirely new audiences,” a press release reads. “Both companies are committed to honoring the brand’s rich narrative and distinctive style, promising an authentic and exciting experience for longtime fans and newcomers alike.”

Activision president Rob Kostich writes in the press release that this movie will “honor and expand upon what has made this franchise great in the first place” to create an “unforgettable blockbuster movie.” Paramount CEO and chairman David Ellison writes, “We’re approaching this film with the same disciplined, uncompromising commitment to excellence that guided our work on Top Gun: Maverick, ensuring it meets the exceptionally high standards this franchise and its fans deserve.”

There’s no word on which direction this film adaptation of Call of Duty will take, but considering the game series has featured campaigns set during World War 2, the Vietnam War, riffs on the War on Terrorism, as well as fictional modern war campaigns, and stories set in the near future and far future, too, Paramount has plenty to work with.

While waiting to learn more about this movie, check out Game Informer’s preview of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, and then check out the cinematic reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which launches on November 14.
