GAIN Crashes 80% After Abnormal Mint and Dump

by admin September 25, 2025

  • Attacker’s actions
  • Griffin AI’s response

GAIN, the token of artificial intelligence (AI) agent builder Griffin AI, has plunged by a whopping 80% following “abnormal minting and dumping,” according to a recent alert posted by cybersecurity firm PeckShield.

The BNB Chain-based token was recently listed on several exchanges, including HTX, KuCoin, Gate.io. On top of that, the token made its debut on Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, on the cusp of the attack.

Attacker’s actions

The token was supposed to have a capped supply, but malicious actors managed to surpass this limit by suddenly minting a total of 5 million GAIN by exploiting a vulnerability in the project’s smart contract.

The attacker immediately ended up swapping 5 million GAIN for BNB, pocketing roughly $3 million. The massive sale resulted in an extremely severe price drop for the token in question.

The attacker then swapped the BNB for 720 ETH and sent the tokens to the Tornado Cash privacy mixer, which makes it extremely challenging to actually trace stolen funds.

Griffin AI’s response

Following the attack, Griffin AI requested that all exchanges pause trading, deposits, and withdrawals of the GAIN token. The move is meant to prevent the attacker from performing more transactions.

“We’re coordinating closely with exchanges and security partners,” he said.

Korean Traders Favor Crypto Stocks, Dump $657M In Tesla

by admin September 2, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

South Korean retail traders have continued to favor crypto-related stocks instead of high-profile US tech firms amid growing disappointment with companies like Tesla and the global push for digital assets.

Tesla Loses Ground, Bitmine Gains Momentum

On Monday, Bloomberg reported that Tesla stock has lost ground among South Korea’s retail investors, who ramped up their selling during August in favor of crypto-related equities.

According to the report, the electric carmaker company has seen a $1.8 billion exodus over the past four months, suggesting weakening enthusiasm among one of Tesla’s most loyal global retail investor bases.

A 33-year-old retail trader told the news media outlet that the company has been unable “to win people’s hearts” as it has “failed to lead with its own AI narrative.” The investor, who first bought the stock in 2019, sold out earlier this year to focus on equities that currently have more upside.

Bloomberg calculations of depository data revealed that while the company remains the top foreign stock among South Korean retail traders, individual investors sold approximately $657 million of Tesla stock in August, recording the company’s largest outflows since 2019.

In contrast, retail traders in South Korea favored more volatile bets in August, like crypto-related stocks. During this period, investors poured $253 million into Bitmine Immersion Technologies Inc., which is seen as a proxy for Ethereum (ETH).

As reported by Bitcoinist, South Korean investors purchased $259 million worth of Bitmine stock in July, Bloomberg previously highlighted. According to Korea Securities Depository data, this made the company the most purchased foreign security stock.

Korean Investors Pour Millions Into Crypto Stocks

Data from the Korean Center for International Finance (KCIF) showed that the percentage of crypto-linked equities in the top 50 net-bought stocks by local retail investors increased from 8.5% in January to 36.5% in June before dropping to 31.4% in July.

Citing a report from 10x Research, The Korea Times highlighted that individuals have purchased over $12 billion worth of crypto-related stock in 2025, with Bitmine, Circle Internet Group, and Coinbase leading the sector.

Retail investors’ buying spree reportedly intensified last month, as traders poured $426 million into Bitmine, $226 million into Circle, and $183 million into Coinbase. This marks a shift from the leading trend over the past few years, when Korean retail investors poured into US tech giants.

“Korean investors are pouring billions into crypto stocks, reshaping global flows in ways Wall Street can no longer ignore,” the report affirms. Adding that “the push has been amplified by U.S. and Korean stablecoin legislation, creating a powerful backdrop for this surge in capital.”

Amid the global push for digital assets regulation, the institutionalization of won-pegged stablecoins gained significant attention, with President Lee Jae-myung vowing to address it alongside the status of crypto-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs) during his electoral campaign.

Since then, multiple bills related to the issuance and distribution of KRW-pegged stablecoins have been introduced in South Korea’s National Assembly. Nonetheless, the industry has expressed concerns about the disconnect between the industry and South Korean regulators.

On September 1, the nominee for Financial Services Commission (FSC) Chairman Lee Won-eun stated that digital assets “differ from traditional financial products like deposits and securities in that they lack intrinsic value.”

In his written response to the National Assembly’s Political Affairs Committee, Lee also expressed a negative stance on specific policies related to cryptocurrencies, including whether to allow investment in virtual assets through pension and retirement accounts. This raised concerns among multiple industry players that a one-sided regulatory policy may continue.

Myriad Moves: Will Dogecoin Pump or Dump? And How Big Will SharpLink’s Ethereum Treasury Get?

by admin August 31, 2025

In brief

  • Top markets on Myriad this week focus on Dogecoin’s next move, SharpLink’s Ethereum holdings, and the U.S. Open.
  • Predictors think SharpLink Gaming will achieve its goal of accumulating 1 million ETH by September 16.
  • They also lean bullish on DOGE, expecting a pump to $0.30 before a dump to $0.15.

Have a strong opinion on who’s taking home the U.S. Open men’s singles title, where Dogecoin’s price is headed, or SharpLink Gaming’s path to holding 1 million Ethereum (ETH)?

You can make your call on those hot topics and many more via Myriad Markets’ prediction markets on Ethereum layer-2 networks Abstract and Linea.

Prediction markets have quickly become one of crypto’s most popular consumer apps, giving users a chance to put their money where their mouth is on everything from sports and pop culture to token prices and corporate moves.

Here’s a look at the hottest Myriad markets this week.

Will SharpLink (SBET) hold 1M ETH by September 16?

Minneapolis-based SharpLink Gaming adopted an Ethereum treasury strategy in April and has already amassed more than $3.6 billion worth of the second-largest crypto asset by market cap.

But the firm doesn’t want to stop there, aiming to acquire 1 million ETH as its first major milestone. Thus far, it sits nearly 80% of the way there, having acquired just shy of 800,000 ETH as of its latest announcement on Tuesday.

Predictors on Myriad though are asked whether or not the firm will complete its goal in the coming weeks and stash away 1 million ETH by September 16.

As of Thursday morning, predictors give the firm around a 56% chance of accomplishing the feat, a drop of around 14% in the last week despite SharpLink’s recent addition of more than 55,000 ETH.

In its Tuesday announcement, the firm also indicated it has around $200,000,000 in cash on hand ready for ETH purchases and had raised an additional $360 million via its at-the-money (ATM) offering to do the same.

With that much purchasing power, it could add around 122,000 ETH based on today’s Ethereum prices. Unfortunately though, even a major purchase of 122,000 ETH would leave SharpLink about 80,000 ETH shy of its target.

Plus, the firm has only ever purchased more than 100,000 ETH on two separate occasions according to data from StrategicETHReserve.xyz.

But it may not need a major splash purchase in order to accomplish the task by September 16.

SharpLink only needs to average around 67,000 ETH for each of the next three weeks to get the job done—an amount it exceeded with six of its last seven Ethereum acquisitions.

What’s Next? The firm typically announces its purchases on Tuesdays. There are three Tuesdays left before the market resolution.

Will Sinner win the U.S. Open men’s singles title?

Tennis is back in the Big Apple, wrapping the tennis calendar’s Major Championship season with a final two-week event in New York City—the U.S. Open.

Reigning champion and recent Wimbledon victor Jannik Sinner is the favorite, and Myriad predictors are tasked with identifying whether or not he’ll raise the trophy once more.

As play enters the second round, predictors are split, giving Sinner a 51.4% chance of walking out of New York with his second straight U.S. Open crown. But rival Carlos Alcaraz is still in the draw, and so is 24-time major champ, Novak Djokovic.

Nevertheless, the odds are in line with those from traditional sportsbooks like DraftKings and FanDuel, which offer Sinner at -105 in American odds or around a 51.22% implied probability.

Odds for the Italian have jumped around 4% in the last seven days on Myriad as his draw has eased up, losing top British talent and #5 seed Jack Draper to injury withdrawal.

On the other side, Alcaraz—the second-most likely to win the tournament—will face a much tougher road to the final, potentially needing to get through Americans Ben Shelton or Taylor Fritz, and maybe even Djokovic, who all grace his side of the bracket.

What’s Next? Sinner will play his second round match at 12:30p.m. ET on Thursday.

Dogecoin’s next move: Pump to $0.30 or dump to $0.15

Market Open: August 25
Market Close: Open Until Resolved
Volume: $924

Bitcoin and Ethereum have both made new all-time highs this year—both this month, even—but Dogecoin still sits more than 69% off its top mark of $0.73 from 2021.

Yet, whales are still stacking the meme coin anyway, and its market cap is still high enough to fall inside the top 10 of all crypto assets according to data from CoinGecko.

A new prediction market on Myriad asks predictors to guess the token’s next move—a pump to $0.30 or dump to $0.15. With the token price stuck right in the middle, trading hands at $0.22 as of Thursday morning, predictors are also split down the middle.

Odds for a pump to $0.30 edge out a dump, priced at 54% at the time of writing as Dogecoin has climbed around 2% in the last 24 hours.

The token has jumped over 100% on the year, but will need another 33% boost to reach $0.30 from here—a mark it hasn’t held since February.

What type of catalyst might help propel it further? It won’t immediately come from an ETF. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) recently announced it was delaying its decision on a spot Dogecoin ETF applied for by Grayscale.

But “believers” are still accumulating the asset, with an analyst recently telling Decrypt that “long-run investors [are] positioning for potential upside.”

Will those believers be rewarded with $0.30 DOGE soon? Dogecoin is the only non-stablecoin asset in the top 10 cryptocurrencies that hasn’t hit an all-time high in the last year, so maybe it’s due for a serious surge. Maybe not.

What’s Next? Though delayed, decisions on spot ETFs for Dogecoin and other alternative cryptocurrencies could come by October according to Bloomberg ETF analyst, Eric Balchunas.

XRP slips under $3 as whales dump 470M tokens

by admin August 20, 2025

XRP has retraced below the $3 psychological level after whales offloaded nearly half a billion tokens, raising questions about whether the market is bracing for a deeper correction.

Summary

  • XRP dropped below $3 as whales sold 470M tokens in 10 days.
  • Despite the sell-off, over 93% of holders remain in profit.
  • Technicals suggest neutral momentum with risks of further downside.

XRP (XRP) slipped under the $3 mark on Aug. 20, trading at $2.88 at press time, down about 4% in the past 24 hours. The token has now shed 10% in the last week and 17% over the past month, standing nearly 20% below its all-time high of $3.65 set in July.

Whale selling adds pressure to XRP price

On an Aug. 20 post on X, analyst Ali Martinez noted that whales have sold around 470 million XRP in the last 10 days, raising concerns about mounting selling pressure. Large liquidations like this frequently slow down price momentum, especially when overall market sentiment is waning.

Despite the pullback, more than 90% of XRP’s circulating supply has remained in profit since mid-July, as per Glassnode data, with holders still averaging profit margins above 90%. This unusually high profitability ratio, combined with the completion of Ripple’s years-long legal battle with the Securities and Exchange Commission suggests much of the good news may already be priced in.

Analysts warn that such extended profit levels can trigger heavier profit-taking if markets face another bearish shock.

XRP technical analysis

The technical indicators for XRP show a cautious outlook. While oscillators like the MACD flash sell signals, the relative strength index is at 42, indicating that the market is neither overbought nor oversold. Momentum suggests a potential short-term relief, but moving averages paint a different picture.

XRP daily chart. Credit: crypto.news

XRP has consistently traded below its short- and mid-term averages, such as the 10-, 20-, and 50-day SMAs and EMAs, indicating sustained selling pressure. In the longer term, there are indications of support, as the 100- and 200-day moving averages are still in “buy” territory. This suggests that the overall upward trend will continue as long as XRP stays above key long-term support levels.

In a bearish scenario, XRP might retest the lower limit of its seven-day range at $2.86. If it continues to decline, the next support level might be around $2.70. On the other hand, bulls would have to recover the $3.00–$3.10 range to gain traction and try to push toward $3.30 once more.
