US labor board drops allegation that Apple’s CEO violated employees’ rights

by admin September 27, 2025

The National Labor Relations Board has withdrawn “many of the claims” it made against Apple in relation to cases brought in 2021 by former employees, according to Bloomberg. In particular, it dismissed an allegation that Apple CEO Tim Cook violated workers’ rights when he sent an all-staff email that year, which said “people who leak confidential information do not belong” in the company. Cook also said in the email that Apple was “doing everything in [its] power to identify those who leaked” information from an internal meeting the previous week, wherein management answered workers’ questions about pay equity and Texas’ anti-abortion law.

Apple didn’t “tolerate disclosures of confidential information, whether it’s product IP or the details of a confidential meeting,” Cook wrote at the time. The NLRB has now withdrawn some of the claims made in complaints by former employee Ashley Gjøvik, including that Apple told employees not to disclose company communications, and that it had suspended Gjøvik in retaliation and fired her unlawfully. But, not all of the allegations have been withdrawn. Apple settled a separate case with Gjøvik back in April, which she announced as a win for workers, as the settlement required Apple to revise rules around employee agreements and discussions of company information to clarify “that employees can talk about their pay, working conditions, and union organizing without retaliation,” and speak to the press, among other things.

In addition dropping its claim that Cook’s email violated workers’ rights, the labor board is also withdrawing its allegation that the firing of activist Janneke Parrish, one of the leaders of the #AppleToo movement, broke the law. It’s dismissing its previous allegations that Apple broke the law by imposing confidentiality rules and surveilling workers or making them think they were under surveillance, as well. After an investigation, NLRB previously came to the conclusion that Cook’s email and Apple’s overall behavior were “interfering with, restraining and coercing employees in the exercise of their rights.”

Bloomberg says this is just one instance of the NLRB being more friendly to companies under President Trump. It’s not quite clear if the labor board has withdrawn all allegations against Apple related to the complaint or just some of them, but we’ve reached out for clarification.

Correction, September 27, 2025, 6:42PM ET: This story incorrectly stated that the NLRB had withdrawn claims made against Apple in complaints filed by employees including Cher Scarlett. Scarlett’s charges against Apple, which relate to pay equity, suppression of wage discussions and constructive discharge, have not been withdrawn or dismissed.

This article has also been updated to include additional information about allegations by former employee Ashley Gjøvik that have been withdrawn, and about Apple’s previous settlement with Gjøvik.

‘Baby Shark’ Token on Story Protocol Drops 90% as Brand-Owner Denies Authorization

by admin September 26, 2025

A “Baby Shark” token hyped last week as officially representing the most viewed video on YouTube, slumped 90% after the issuing platform said the company minting the memecoin belatedly realized it didn’t have the authority to do so.

The token tumbled to under 0.064 cents from Tuesday’s 35 cents high on Story Protocol, a layer-1 blockchain specializing in intellectual property, after the brand owner, Seoul-based Pinkfong Co., issued a formal notice on X on Friday saying the token had “no affiliation whatsoever” with the company.

Baby Shark, a two-minute long music cartoon aimed at young children has garnered more than 16 billion individual views since its 2016 launch. The token, which had a peak market cap of $200 million, was issued using IP.World, which said it relied on faulty rights provided by a Pinkfong licensee and said its verification process blocked creator fees from being released.

“We, and the community, had every reason to believe the launch was fully authorized,” IP.World said.

(DEXTools)

In its post, Pingfong said only two assets, a Baby Shark Meme on Solana and Baby Shark Universe Token on BNB Chain, are officially endorsed.

The statement did little to calm traders who had piled in under the impression of the token was an official Pinkfong collaboration, amplified by influencer endorsements and Story Protocol’s own promotional push.

Separately, blockchain analytics firm Bubblemaps reported that at least one entity funneled funds through multiple fresh wallets to snipe $10 million worth of supply in the first minute of trading — representing roughly 7% of the token’s supply on its Sept. 23rd issuance.

While IP.World named the licensee, CoinDesk is not doing so as it has been unable to contact the company concerned for comment.

Could These Eye Drops End the Need for Reading Glasses?

Could These Eye Drops End the Need for Reading Glasses?

by admin September 26, 2025

The Stats don’t lie: after age 65, most people will struggle to focus visually on close-up objects. You might have seen this among your friends and relatives or even experienced it yourself, holding books, magazines, or your phone farther away from your face to try to bring words and pictures into focus. Many of those affected start using reading glasses. But a new treatment could become available: eye drops.

This deterioration of vision is called presbyopia. It is not a disease but a natural, physiological change caused by aging—specifically by the loss of elasticity and flexibility of the crystalline lens at the front of the eye, which impairs the ability of the eye to change the curvature of the lens to bring objects into focus. This stiffening begins in middle age and tends to stabilize around age 65. For people with shortsightedness, or myopia, who struggle to see faraway objects clearly, the onset of presbyopia may at first lead to improved vision by compensating for their existing condition. For those with farsightedness, or hyperopia, the effects of presbyopia often present earlier than in the rest of the population.

Living with presbyopia can cause fatigue and headaches, and in rare cases double vision, but generally it isn’t something to be worried about. But correcting it can make daily activities easier and help maintain good quality of life. The classic means of correction are reading glasses, though in some cases people opt for eye surgery—either laser refractive surgery to reshape the cornea to compensate for the loss of flexibility of the lens or intraocular surgery to replace the lens with an artificial one. The latter is often proposed when there is also some clouding in the lens (a cataract).

But recently, researchers have been working on eye drops that, in different ways depending on the active ingredient used, improve near focus. Two types have been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration: one based on a substance called aceclidine, the other on pilocarpine.

Pilocarpine is the star molecule, with multiple trials of new formulations underway. It is a natural alkaloid that interacts with parts of the nervous system, which has the effect, in the eye, of inducing miosis—the narrowing of the pupil diameter—and contraction of the ciliary muscle, the ring of muscle that controls the shape of the lens. The two effects combined improve the elasticity of the lens and the ability to focus on nearby objects.

A recent trial conducted in Argentina has tested a pilocarpine eye drop at different concentrations (1 percent, 2 percent, 3 percent) in combination diclofenac, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that soothes the adverse effects of pilocarpine such as irritation and discomfort. (The FDA-approved pilocarpine eye drops are concentrated at 1.25 percent.)

In a two-year retrospective study of 766 people, average age 55 years, the researchers found that the eye drops enabled the majority of patients to improve their vision. “Our most significant result showed rapid and sustained improvements in near vision for all three concentrations,” said lead researcher Giovanna Benozzi when presenting the research at the 43rd Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.

BNB Slips Below $1K as Crypto Market Drops, Fear Index Nears ‘Fear’

by admin September 26, 2025

BNB, the token that powers the BNB Chain and can be used for fee discounts on leading crypto exchange Binance, dropped more than 2% in the last 24 hours amid a wider cryptocurrency market decline.

Sentiment in the industry remains poor, with the Crypto Fear and Greed Index now at 41, a neutral level close to hitting fear, while the average crypto relative strength index (RSI), a technical indicator, points to oversold levels according to CoinMarketCap.

The token slid from $1,025 to just under $1,000 as sellers took control and resistance built near $1,035, according to CoinDesk Research’s technical analysis data model. The broader CoinDesk 20 (CD20) index dropped 3.7%.

BNB Chain validators have put forward a proposal to reduce gas fees from 0.1 to 0.05 gwei. The change would drop average transaction costs to around $0.005 and accelerate block speeds from 750 milliseconds to 450 milliseconds.

The proposal comes at a time in which on-chain trading activity is booming on the BNB Chain after the launch of decentralized trading platform Aster, which recently overtook Hyperliquid in daily perpetual trading volumes.

Technical Analysis Overview

BNB traded within a $49 range over the past 24-hour period, falling to $993. Strong resistance formed just above $1,030, while support held firm around $987.

The price briefly recovered, ticking up from just below $990 to near $994. The gain came as buying demand appeared and pushed the token to form higher lows.

Trading volume suggested a shift from aggressive selling to slower accumulation, with support consolidating near $989 and resistance emerging just under $996.

This 500-Piece LEGO Brick Box Drops to Pennies on Amazon, 2x Cheaper Than LEGO Store

by admin September 25, 2025

It’s fun to dive into LEGO Star Wars or Harry Potter sets but once they’re built, many people hesitate to actually play with them. They often feel more like display pieces than toys. That’s why every LEGO fan should have a brick box filled with hundreds of colorful pieces: It’s the foundation for pure creativity, letting you build, rebuild, and invent completely new ideas without limits.

Right now, Amazon is offering the LEGO “medium” brick box at its lowest price ever: Instead of paying the usual $34, you can get it for just $17, which is two times cheaper than on the official LEGO site where it’s still full price. And if you want to go bigger, a larger 790‑piece brick box is also on sale at Amazon for just $39 instead of $59.

Endless Possibilities for Play and Imagination

What is so special about this brick box is that it gets at the very essence of LEGO: open-ended building. With 484 pieces in 35 colors for the medium size and 790 pieces for the large box, you’ve got everything you need to get your imagination going, from windows and toy eyes to tires with wheel rims, perfect for cars, trains, or whatever your imagination comes up with. Even the green baseplate, well over 3 by 6 inches in size, is included, giving young children (and let’s be honest here, adults as well) a firm base upon which to build.

And it’s not all about chucking bricks around willy-nilly. The variety of pieces in this box enables kids to craft small animals like the tiger figure that is provided, motor vehicles with movable wheels, or even small houses with window cutouts. This assortment has been designed by LEGO to be compatible with their other sets so you’re not locked into one theme. You can add these pieces to any LEGO world you currently have, opening up possibilities without limit. That’s a big reason why this set gets a 4.8 rating out of 5 from more than 53,000 customers repeatedly.

Once the playtime entertainment is over, the entire set goes into storage within the durable storage box. Instead of bricks everywhere on the living room floor or on the way, the box is a great storage system. That small feature makes it so much less trouble for adults but it also increases the chances for kids to put their creations away and transport the box with them wherever they go.

For kids, having a creative brick box at home encourages hours of screen-free creativity play. It’s the type of toy that can grow up with children and it’s just as fun for grown-ups who are wanting to sit down and build something stress-free.

Since you’re paying half the amount charged on LEGO’s own site, now is the time to grab them while these record-low deals last.

Coinbase CEO Drops Key Update on New Stablecoin Listings

In a recent tweet, Coinbase CEO and cofounder Brian Armstrong has revealed the crypto exchange’s decision to list two new local stablecoins: AUDD and XSGD.

Coinbase will be listing two local currency stablecoins: AUDD and XSGD. These would be the first AUD- and SGD-denominated stablecoins on Coinbase.

AUDD  is an Australian Digital Dollar issued by AUDC Pty Ltd, a fiat-backed stablecoin designed to be redeemable 1:1 for AUD and built for institutional-grade, programmable finance.

XSGD, a fiat-backed stablecoin, is issued by StraitsX. XSGD has been acknowledged by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to be compliant with the upcoming Single Currency Stablecoin (SCS) regulatory framework.

On Sept. 29 at 7:00 p.m. UTC, the two new fiat-backed local currency stablecoins, AUDD and XSGD, would go live on Coinbase. From this date, XSGD and AUDD will be available on Coinbase.com and the Coinbase mobile app.

Coinbase CEO reacts

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong weighs in on the new stablecoin listings, noting it is essential for crypto business growth and adoption.

According to Armstrong, local stablecoins are essential to drive local crypto business growth and help to onboard many more new people to crypto. Thanks to Coinbase’s listing, users in Australia and Singapore, respectively, will be able convert from AUD to AUDD and SGD to XSGD for free.

Coinbase noted that the listing move remains integral to its mission to onboard one billion people to crypto, enabling users to transact seamlessly in familiar currencies without the friction of foreign exchange volatility.

According to CoinMarketCap data, the stablecoin market is currently valued at $307 billion, with analysts predicting this asset class to be worth $2 trillion in the years to come.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties drops in early 2026, as RGG pair remake with a new spin-off starring baddie Mine

by admin September 24, 2025

Like A Dragon/Yakuza devs RGG Studio have revealed Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, a remake of Yakuza 3 paired with a fresh spin-off adventure starring the beat-em-up’s baddie Yoshitaka Mine. They’ll be released as one package on February 12th, 2026, as announced at the latest RGG Summit showcase.

The showcase also saw the studio announce that Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut, originally released as a Switch 2 launch title, will arrive on PC December 8th. That revamp of the most 80s entry in the series offers some extra cutscenes and a Red Light Raid multiplayer mode all about battling hordes of goons.

Watch on YouTube

While a remastered version of Yakuza 3 did hit Steam back in 2021, Kiwami 3 is a more in-depth face-lift, in line with the Kiwami treatments the first two games in the series have gotten. That means a full remake, with RGG promising “more intense battles, added cutscenes that bring depth to the story, and minigames chock-full of replay value” in addition to retooled visuals.

Here’s a quick Steam page synopsis of Yakuza 3’s plot, in case you need a refresher: “Kazuma Kiryu has earned his retirement on the sandy beaches of Okinawa. But when a deadly power struggle arrives on his doorstep, he’ll have to walk the streets of Kamurocho to escape his past for good.”

The most newsworthy addition is definitely Dark Ties, a fresh spin-off adventure which puts you in the shoes of businessy Yakuza 3 antagonist Yoshitaka Mine. If you hop into Dark Ties from the remake’s main menu, you’ll get to see how he established himself in the underworld after crashing out of the corporate one, forming deep bonds with Tojo Clan chairman Daigo Dojima and more typical Yakuza villain Tsuyoshi Kanda in the process.

It’s been a few years since I played Yakuza 3, but I recall liking Mine as a change of pace from the brawnier brawlers Kiryu tends to have to wrest the clan away from, with his cold and calculating persona certainly being a lot different to direct predecessor and Yakuza 2 baddie Ryuji Goda. It’s certainly nice to see RGG doing more with one of the villains from the Yakuzas 3 to 5 range, given those poor lads are generally pretty forgettable compared to series cornerstones like Goda and Akira Nishkiyama.

There’s a deluxe edition of Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties which comes with some extra goodies, while costing £69.99 in comparison to the base game’s £54.99/$59.99/€59.99. I’ve mainly mentioned it because one of the additions is called the ‘Legendary Lads Set’, which is a very good name. It also features some flip phone customisation, though there regrettably don’t look to be any embarrassing 2000s ringtones.

You can wishlist this refreshed street scum sweeper on Steam right now.

Logitech G’s Gaming Mouse Trusted by League of Legends Pros Hits Record Low After Several Price Drops

by admin September 23, 2025

If you’re sitting at your desk, do me a favor and look around for a moment. What’s your setup look like? Do you have a good keyboard? How are your speakers? How big is your monitor? Is there more than one? When it comes to PC gaming, there’s so may areas you can upgrade, and we didn’t even cover the stuff under the hood like your GPU and CPU. with all the shiny, new products you can buy level up your space, it’s easy to overlook something small but important—the mouse.

Your mouse is 50% off how you’re interacting with the games you play, assuming you use mouse and keyboard. It’s time to ditch that ten dollar mouse you picked up in the checkout lane of Staples, and get something solid. The Logitech G Pro X SuperLight 2 wireless gaming mouse right now goes for $180. However, an Amazon limited time deal is currently bringing it down to just $130. That 28% discount saves you $50.

This Logitech mouse was engineered to be your optimal gaming peripheral. Professional e-sports players were consulted in designing the mouse with rigorous hands-on testing to ensure every curve and click is unmatched.

Designed for speed and precision, this gaming mouse from Logitech has a powerful sensor—the HERO 2—capable of an 8 kHz polling rate, an 88g acceleration, an 888 IPS speed, and up to 44,000 DPI sensor calibration. It uses zero-additive PTFE mouse feet, which allows the mouse to glide smoothly across your desktop.

This mouse has a crazy 95-hour battery life. So long as you remember to plug it in every few gaming sessions, you’ll never have to worry about it dying on you. If your gaming sessions are somehow longer than that, well it may be time to go touch grass. It charges over USB-C.

This Logitech gaming mouse is compatible with both Mac and PC and you have your choice of either black or white. There is a sleek magenta option as well, but that one is unfortunately not part of the sale. So long as you go black or white, you’ll get the mouse for a cool $50 discount. That brings the price down for as limited time from $180 to just $130.

After Months Without a Discount, ASUS’s 15.6” Portable Monitor Drops Again Ahead of Prime Big Deal Days

by admin September 23, 2025

Having a work-from-home job doesn’t necessarily mean you need to always be working from home. You feasibly have the power to work from anywhere in the world so long has you have stable Wi-Fi. The thing that used to get in the way of me getting out more often with my laptop is that I don’t like working off just my laptop screen. At my desk, I have spoiled myself with three large monitors and can see everything I’m working on at once. On my laptop, I’m caught flipping through endless tabs and apps, losing track of what I’m looking at constantly. But now, I have gotten myself a portable monitor. You can too as this one from ASUS just dropped on Amazon from $209 to just $169. That 19% discount will save you a solid $40.

See at Amazon

Get Out More

For the worker that wants to get out and about more, ASUS’ portable monitor is perfect at it’s 15.6-inch display size. If you decide to head over to your local coffee shop or maybe get some work done in your hotel room while traveling, you can simulate your desktop experience, being able to view more of what you want to have access to at once. You can have the spreadsheet your building out on one display while you have your email or Slack opened up on the second as not to miss any pings coming your way. Or instead you can mute any incoming notifications and use your second monitor to watch the latest episode of Peacemaker while putting slides together for your next presentation on the first one.

The ASUS monitor has a built-in kickstand, making it easy to prop up. It can be setup in either landscape or portrait mode. I’m a big champion of the vertical display. Having your email or slack set up vertically just makes more sense than landscape. You can see more of your messages at once and be able to read more of those longwinded emails before you need to scroll down again.

The monitor supports a hybrid-signal, meaning the USB-C allows for the transmission of both video and power. This is wonderful because it means you’ll have less cables running across your workspace. It just needs the one USB-C cable connected from your laptop and that’s enough to turn on the portable ASUS monitor and send the video feed to it.

If you want to use the ASUS monitor as a more permanent secondary monitor, you’ll be happy to learn it is tripod hold compatible, letting you mount the display.
