EA Sports FC 26’s first patch is here with a nerf to Low Driven Shots, and a fix for that Manager Career bug that had players abandoning the team

by admin September 25, 2025

The early access period of EA Sports FC 26 appears to be chugging along nicely, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any issues to address. The game’s first official patch, version 1.0.2, is now live with a host of changes.

The bulk of the changes in this update affect AI players, as well as Low Driven Shots. Interestingly, some of the tweaks address feedback made all the way back in the game’s closed beta.

Update 1.0.2’s biggest change is a nerf to Low Driven Shots, making them less accurate when shooting with extreme power. Difficult to perform Driven Ground Passes have also been made less accurate, such as those taken at 180 degrees.

There are also a number of changes to the AI, particularly when attacking and positioning. Wingers will now make attacking runs into the box more often, and Wing Backs will stop dropping too deep in their own half of the pitch when their team is in possession.

The patch fixed a bug that would sometimes cause AI players to not make runs into open spaces when they should, too, and improved their “offside awareness.” One of the more amusing bugs that the patch also fixed has to do with Manager Career players leaving the team during sims. Read on below for the full change log:

Gameplay

  • Tuned Low Driven Shots based on your feedback in the Closed Beta to be less accurate when shooting with an extreme amount of power.
  • As part of our AI attacking updates based on your feedback, made the the following changes:
  • Increased frequency of wingers making attacking runs into the box.
  • Wing Backs will no longer drop too deep in their own half when their team is in possession.
  • Improved teammate offside awareness.
  • Addressed instances of players not making runs into open space when it could be beneficial.
  • Improved positioning of players when playing with low defensive depth so that they’re not pushing too high up the pitch.
  • Center Backs are now less likely to run wide when marking central attackers.
  • False Backs now transition more intelligently to defense to better maintain defensive shape.
  • A goalkeeper dive indicator now displays where an incoming shot is coming from.
  • Changed the Camera Pan input based on your feedback and to avoid button conflicts.
  • As shared on the EASFC Tracker, we’re continuing to work on Be A Goalkeeper updates to improve the gameplay experience. We’ll share more details in the near future.
  • Improved cases of unexpected heavy touches when sprinting in wet weather Authentic gameplay based on your feedback.
  • Improved instances of Ground Passes unexpectedly falling behind the intended receiver.
  • Tuned difficult to perform Driven Ground Passes to be less accurate, for example, first time Driven Ground Passes taken at 180 degrees.
  • Addressed incorrect shooting animations that sometimes occurred when attempting lace shots, resulting in unexpected behavior.

Avalanche activity driven by DEXs, trading bots, whale memecoin speculation

by admin September 3, 2025

Smart contract blockchain Avalanche recorded a consistent surge in blockchain activity, as analysts pointed to growing decentralized trading activities and returning crypto whale speculation on the next emerging memecoin.

Avalanche’s transaction growth surpassed all other blockchains the past week, rising 66% to 11.9 million transactions across more than 181,000 active addresses, signaling growing investor mindshare focusing on the blockchain.

The milestone occurred after a “landmark effort” of the US Department of Commerce, which adopted Avalanche, along with nine other public decentralized blockchains, to publish its real gross domestic product (GDP), Cointelegraph reported on Friday.

Despite Avalanche’s growing institutional and governmental adoption, we “cannot at this point attribute this to the US Government adopting Avalanche for its GDP data,” said Nicolai Sondergaard, research analyst at the Nansen crypto intelligence platform.

The network’s increasing blockchain activity was mainly driven by decentralized finance (DeFi) traders, miner extractable value (MEV) trading bots and whales speculating on the next big memecoin launch, the analyst told Cointelegraph, adding:

“The transaction surge is driven by: 60% DeFi protocol activity (Trader Joe, Aave, Benqi), 25% Automated trading bots and MEV, and 10% Whale trading and memecoin speculation […].”

The research analyst explained that the additional 5% of blockchain activity was attributed to blockchain gaming and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

DEX trading, “high-balance” whales drove the majority of Avalanche blockchain activity: Nansen

Cryptocurrency trading on decentralized exchanges drove the lion’s share of Avalanche’s blockchain activity, with Trader Joe DEX as the “primary driver,” which saw over $333 million worth of Avalanche Wrapped Ether (WETH.e) volume during the past seven days.

“Key players” driving this activity included traders on Nansen’s top 100 leaderboard, who made multiple six-figure trades, Sondergaard said.

Aave lending protocol was the secondary driver with $624,000 worth of flash loan activity through DEX aggregators, while the Benqi Protocol was another significant driver, after receiving over $650,000 worth of deposits from cryptocurrency trading bots.

Automated trading activities and “high balance” whale addresses drove the rest of the blockchain activity, with the Black (BLACK) token seeing $14 million in trading volume, with multiple whale addresses amassing up to $95,000 worth of the token.

Similar to Avalanche, DEX trading drove the majority of blockchain activity, including Raydium DEX with 12.4 million users and 297 million transactions, followed by Fluxbeam DEX with 7.3 million users and 178 million transactions.

Ethereum More Driven By Off-Chain Markets Than Bitcoin: Data

by admin September 3, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Glassnode data could imply Ethereum price dynamics are more influenced by derivatives and other off-chain markets compared to Bitcoin.

CBD Data Shows Divergence In Spot Activity For Bitcoin & Ethereum

In a new post on X, on-chain analytics firm Glassnode has talked about how the Cost Basis Distribution (CBD) has diverged between Bitcoin and Ethereum recently.

The CBD refers to an indicator that tells us about the amount of a given asset that addresses or investors on the network last purchased at each of the price levels visited by the cryptocurrency in its history.

This metric is useful because investors put special emphasis on their break-even level and tend to make some kind of move when a retest of it occurs. The more amount of the asset that the holders purchased at a particular level, the stronger is their reaction to a retest.

Now, first, here is a chart that shows the trend in the CBD for Bitcoin over the last few months:

Looks like BTC is currently retesting a major demand zone | Source: Glassnode on X

As displayed in the above graph, the Bitcoin CBD acquired a large “air gap” when Bitcoin saw its explosive rally back in July. This happened because BTC moved through price levels too fast for buying and selling to occur at them, so very few coins were able to receive a cost basis at them.

As BTC consolidated after the rally cooling off, levels started being filled up with supply. The same has followed during the latest phase of decline and now, the previous air gap has disappeared. This shows that demand for spot trading has maintained for the cryptocurrency.

While Bitcoin has seen this trend, the CBD has behaved differently for the second largest asset in the sector, Ethereum.

From the chart, it’s apparent that Ethereum’s rallies have also created air gaps, but unlike Bitcoin, its phases of slowdown haven’t resulted in any levels filling up to a notable degree. “This suggests ETH price dynamics may be more influenced by off-chain markets such as derivatives,” notes Glassnode.

Historically, price action built on products like derivatives has often proven to be more volatile. Given that Ethereum is currently not observing any high levels of spot buying, it only remains to be seen what the fate of its bull run would be.

In some other news, Bitcoin has been trading near an important on-chain cost basis level after the recent price decline, as CryptoQuant author Maartunn has pointed out in an X post.

The level in question is the average cost basis of the short-term holders, investors who purchased their Bitcoin within the past 155 days. In the past, losing the level often resulted in short-term shifts to bearish phases.

Ethereum has been on the way down recently with its price falling to $4,270 after a 6% weekly pullback.

US hardware revenue reaches $384m driven by Switch 2 sales | US Monthly Charts

by admin August 30, 2025

US hardware revenue jumped 21% to $384 million in July, driven by sales of the Nintendo Switch 2.

That’s according to data from Circana, which noted that this increase in hardware spending was the highest in a July month since 2008, when revenue reached $441 million.

The Switch 2 was the best-selling hardware for the month and year-to-date, and has surpassed two million units in the US since its June 5 launch. Unit sales of the Switch 2 are also 75% ahead of those set by the original Switch.

Looking at the charts for July, the Top Five consisted of four new titles. Electronic Arts took the top two spots with EA Sports College Football 26 and EA Sports MVP Bundle 2025, while Donkey Kong Bananza ranked in third.

The latest Switch 2 sat in the same spot as Mario Kart World’s debut in June, and was the best-selling title on Nintendo’s platform-specific charts. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, developed by Iron Galaxy and published by Activision, came in at No.4.

The latest remake in the Tony Hawk franchise was also in the Top Four best-selling games of the month across the individual charts for console and PC.

Obsidian Entertainment and Eidos-Montréal’s Grounded 2 also debuted in the Top 20 at No.8, while Death Stranding 2: On the Beach dropped from No.2 to No.12 and Elden Ring: Nightreign fell from the top spot to No.16.

Elsewhere, video game content spending was up 4% to $4.5 billion. According to Circana, this result was driven by a 7% growth in mobile to $2.3 billion and non-mobile subscriptions, which were up 21% to $0.5 billion. Growth from these segments offset a 9% drop in console spending.

As for consumer spending, this rose by 5% to $5.05 billion compared to $4.1 billion during the same period last year.

Looking at mobile content, the Top Five consisted of Monopoly Go, Royal Match, Last War: Survival, Candy Crush Saga, and Whiteout Survival.

Most notably, Garena’s Free Fire moved up seven places to No.6, which has been “skyrocketing US revenue since last year” according to Sensor Tower’s Sam Aune.

Aune also described July as an “explosive month” for mobile, “with 7% of consumer spend growth over July 2024”.

The creators of Duskers are making a twisted dungeon roguelike driven by love and contempt for chess

by admin August 29, 2025

Duskers developers Misfit Attic have revealed Below The Crown, a chess-flavoured fantasy roguelike with an Inscryption-style meta-layer and some sexy 80s CRT visuals. You are a wizard, tasked with Gathering A Party and braving an offbrand Tron dungeon to retrieve some gold. Your upgradeable party members are based on chess units, and each floor of the dungeon is a grid-based combat puzzle inspired by classic chess manouevres like Forks and Pins. Here’s a trailer.

Watch on YouTube

Misfits Attic founder Tim Keenan calls it a “gateway drug into chess”, but the press release often seems more eager to dunk on chess than celebrate it, as it straddles the line of being “accessible for newcomers and compelling for experts”. They want to sell people on the wonders of chess, a beautiful abstract strategy game that dates back hundreds of years, while also reassuring a younger generation of nerds that Below The Crown is absolutely nothing like chess, a stupid non-computer game played by losers that doesn’t even have any magic spells in it.

“Forget memorized openings, drawn-out endgames, and stalemates,” it reads. “Start with one piece, a badass wizard, instead of 16 – and bid the tedium of analysis paralysis adieu.” Sayonara, chess, you monstrous waste of perfectly good timber! I love you. You’re an awful experience and I hope all of my friends get hooked on you. Let’s kiss with tongues, you embarrassing plod.

Chess aside, Below The Crown is billed as a “thinking person’s roguelike” in the style of Slay The Spire, which seems a bit mean to other roguelikes. I consider the roguelike a fairly cerebral genre by default. It’s not like saying “thinking person’s ballpit”, is it. “Make smart plays to capture enemies and survive an ever-changing dungeon,” the press release goes on. “Imbue the party with abilities like Vision for placement flexibility or Shadow Protection, granting a shield while on a dark tile. Acquire spell cards and skills to ramp up throughout a run, collecting gold to sate the Emperor, but also finding mysterious runes along the way…”

That dot-dot-dotting probably pertains to the aforesaid Inscryption-esque meta-layer, which sees you pulling back from a computer within the computer to answer enigmatic corporate queries. “From daily stress surveys to strange ranking rituals, the game isn’t afraid to break the fourth wall and surprise the player with unexpected weirdness,” the press release adds. I am making a note, “expect weirdness”. Keenan also calls Below The Crown a “massively singleplayer experience”, with a custom board editor and the ability to share your creations online.

I will forgive all this frenzied marketing footwork because Misfits Attic are the creators of Duskers – a lonely Lieutenant Gorman simulator, and solid candidate for the title of best space game. According to me, anyway: whoever last edited that Best Of didn’t include it, and they didn’t put it on our list of the best horror games, either. Philistines!

Misfits recently announced that they’re making a “spiritual successor” to Duskers featuring ship-building, under the working title “Humanity 2.0”. They’re also making a “Crusader Kings lite” in which you try to manipulate enemy factions into fighting each other. Certainly, they’ve got a lot going on these days.

Below The Crown will launch on PC via Steam Early Access in Q4 2025, and there’s a demo coming in this October’s Steam Next Fest. Read more on the aforesaid Steam.

Ether (ETH) Resurgence Gains Steam Driven by Spot ETF Demand and On-Chain Growth: Citi

by admin August 20, 2025

After enduring a drawdown of more than 55% earlier this year and lagging peers amid tariff-driven risk-off sentiment, ether (ETH) has staged a powerful comeback, Wall Street bank Citi (C) said in a research report on Tuesday.

The second-largest cryptocurrency is now up nearly 30% year-to-date, testing bitcoin’s (BTC) dominance in a way not seen since late last year. This time, however, ether is taking market share rather than ceding it, the report said.

Spot ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have seen a surge of demand. Cumulative net inflows now top $13 billion, up from just $2.6 billion in April, analysts Alex Saunders and Nathaniel Rupert wrote.

As ETF balances grow, flows are playing a more direct role in price dynamics, the analysts said.

Ether treasury firms have also joined the bid, with large purchases beginning in May. Their collective holdings now hover near $10 billion at current market values, while the equity valuations of these companies have expanded alongside ether’s rally, the report noted.

Blockchain data shows large wallets accumulating ether while smaller investors trim exposure. Ether balances on centralized exchanges continue to decline, signaling a shift of supply back on-chain. This dynamic could be amplifying the latest leg higher, creating a squeeze-like effect, the report added.

While the rally has been sharp, the bank’s analysts caution it isn’t purely technical. On-chain activity has picked up, reinforcing the move with stronger fundamentals. Combined with a macro backdrop that resembles a “goldilocks” environment, neither too hot nor too cold, ether’s resurgence could have legs, particularly with supportive regulatory signals and bullish narratives in play.
