Disney’s Mandalorian and Grogu trailer shows the fall of a lumbering giant

by admin September 22, 2025

Disney, a company that definitely isn’t dealing with a major crisis right now, has released a trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu. The movie follows on from the events of Disney+ series The Mandalorian — a show that director Jon Favreau created — and the fall of the Empire in Return of the Jedi. It’s set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.

The 94-second clip doesn’t offer much in the way of plot details, though it does show Sigourney Weaver as a fighter pilot and Jabba the Hutt’s son Rotta (Jeremy Allen White). Mando (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu battle against bots and beasts, and the pair blows up an AT-AT. I’m sure there’s nothing to be read into seeing a lumbering giant attempting to traverse a precarious path only to fail spectacularly at this specific moment in Disney’s history.

The trailer does make it seem like the movie will retain the adventurous spirit and humor of The Mandalorian, with Grogu getting to be as cute as ever. In a fun beat, the diminutive creature uses the Force to try to steal a snack from Weaver’s character, only to be denied.

The Mandalorian and Grogu will be the first Star Wars movie to hit theaters in over six years. Star Wars: Starfighter is slated to arrive a year later.

Marvel Zombies Is Surely The Goriest Thing Disney’s Ever Made?

by admin September 2, 2025

Just ten years back, it’d be tough to imagine Disney being willing to put its name to something as outstandingly gory as Marvel: Rivals. The new trailer reveals some incredibly gloopy deaths, outlandish violence, and blood absolutely everywhere. It’s surely one of the goriest things Disney has ever made? The show will also feature the voices of big-time Hollywood names like Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, Elizabeth Olsen and Awkwafina.

It’s Disney’s rush of acquisitions that mostly seems to have contributed to the once prim company now releasing some very adult content. Buying Marvel and Fox meant the not so family-friendly X-Men movies arrived on streaming platform Disney+, and the two combined in spectacular fashion in the Deadpool movies. It’s quite something that such films appear alongside the gallery of princesses on the subscription service. Now add Marvel Zombies to that discombobulation, because damn, this trailer has all the gore.

I had no expectations for this. The What If… series has mostly left me very flat, but What If… Zombies?! has inspired a whole new miniseries, due to be added to the streamer September 24, and this trailer has me absolutely in.

It helps that the voice cast is absolutely incredible. What If… occasionally got the movie actors, but often not–this time, though, it’s a stunning collection. As you’ll hear in the trailer there’s Florence Pugh revising her Thunderbolts* role as Yelena Belova, along with David Harbour as her father, Alexei Shostakov. But there’s also Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Awkwafina as Xu Shang-Chi’s bestie Katy, Elizabeth Olson as Scarlet Witch (naturally a zombie), Wyatt Russell as the unimprovably named John Walker, Tessa Thompson as Thor‘s Valkyrie, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan. And that’s barely half the list.

The whole thing is obviously entirely non-canon for the MCU, rather offering a chance to let the characters behave in ways they otherwise never could, in circumstances that Disney would never let reach the big screen. Or would they? I mean, Deadpool got to keep going! Maybe one day.

The trailer’s highlight for me? Definitely Spider-Man (still voiced by Hudson Thames as in previous animated series) taking the heads of so many zombs at once. Very not Peter Parker-like behavior.

Disney’s Got a Cool ‘Andor’ Zine for Emmy Season

by admin August 18, 2025

With less than a month to go before the Emmys, Disney’s pulling out all the stops to make sure Andor takes home some gold. Not only did it recently release the script for “Welcome to the Rebellion,” one of its best season two episodes, it’s also getting the word out through the power of the press.

As Disney describes it, the REBELIÓN zine celebrates “our 14 Emmy® nominations, the filmmakers, talent, and incredible craftspeople who were responsible for bringing this show to life,” and has already been sent out to press and voters. Per a now-deleted tweet, Los Angeles residents can pick up a copy at locations like Atwater Village’s Secret Headquarters, Echo Park’s Stories and Heavy Manners Zine Library, while everyone else can peep the digital version here.

Within its pages are the pitch of Andor’s second season, propaganda posters featuring Cassian, Mon Mothma, and the Ghor, shots of key Empire characters, and concept art for the season. Showrunner Tony Gilroy also recently appeared at a pop-up event at West Hollywood’s Kiosk-O-Thèque, which you can see below.

REBELIÓN is some of the last Andor media we’re likely to get; season two’s likely getting a physical release, but the only other known work coming is the series’ art book in May 2026. Anyone looking to understand the show on a writing level is out of luck, since Gilroy previously said there’s no plans to publish the series’ full scripts as a means of safeguarding the show against generative AI. Too bad this is physical version isn’t for everyone.

The Emmys will air on Sunday, September 14, where we’ll see if Andor takes home any gold for its last season.
