Shovel Knight developer’s Zelda-like game Mina the Hollower delayed

by admin October 7, 2025

Mina the Hollower, the next game from Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games, has been delayed but is “so close to being done”.

The Zelda-like adventure was intended for release on 31st October, but has been pushed back without a new release date, though the developer has stated it “isn’t a major delay” but just “a stretch of time to apply some final polish and balancing to make the game truly shine”.

“Our goal is to make sure our development team has the time and resources to deliver an incredible adventure and we will be giving you just that. That’s no hollow promise!” the studio stated.

Mina the Hollower: Release Date Announcement TrailerWatch on YouTube

“We don’t want to announce another release date until it’s submitted to platforms, so please hang tight as we reach the finish line.”

Yacht Club Games made its name with celebrated platformer Shovel Knight, which spawned a number of spin-offs.

Mina the Hollower is a change of pace, featuring a top-down adventure style reminiscent of Game Boy Zelda game Link’s Awakening in a gothic, Castlevania-esque world.

It continues the studio’s penchant for retro aesthetics, then. Victoria checked out the demo on Switch 2 a couple of months back and loved it.

One Of Steam’s Most-Wishlisted Games Indefinitely Delayed Days Before Launch

by admin October 5, 2025

Kingmakers was due out in Early Access in just a few days but it’s apparently not ready yet. The medieval sandbox shooter has been indefinitely delayed as the team at Redemption Road works on getting everything working as intended. “We just need a bit more time on content polish before we feel good about charging money for it,” the studio wrote in an announcement on Friday.

Odds are you’ve seen a bit of Kingmakers here or there over the years, even if you didn’t know it. The multiplayer game features sprawling maps and giant armies and is supposed to facilitate real-time destruction as you engage in everything from medieval combat to blowing up a bunch of armor-clad knights with tanks. The game’s impressive physics simulation helped it go viral on social media, land a big trailer at Summer Game Fest this year, and become the sixth most-wishlisted game on Steam. So it’s surprising to see it pulled from launch at the last minute.

— Ian Fisch – Lead Coder on Kingmakers (wishlist!) (@Ian_Fisch) October 3, 2025

“After much contemplation, we realize that the scheduled Kingmakers launch on October 8 will no longer be possible,” the team announced today. “We want to apologize to all of the fans who are eagerly anticipating this game. We are sorry for letting you down.”

The rest of the message goes on to try to explain why the game is being indefinitely delayed. TL;DR: Kingmakers is ambitions and delivering on that is hard!

— Kingmakers ⚔️ (@Kingmakers_Game) June 3, 2025

“We currently have tens of thousands of soldiers, each with AI and pathfinding that rivals what you’d expect from an AAA third-person shooter,” Redemption Road states. “When you walk away from a battle, it continues to play out. Nothing is faked. We have giant 6-story castles where every room can be entered and every wall, floor, and ceiling destroyed. When you build a lumbermill, it’s a real place that can be entered, or, in an enemy invasion, turned into a combat arena.”

The studio doesn’t really go into much more detail than that but promises that a deep-dive overview will be livestreamed soon to update players on where things are at. That makes it sound like the delay won’t just be a couple of weeks or months. Will it still be out before the end of 2026? We’ll see. “We’re making sure everyone who buys the game is enthralled and feels like their money was well spent,” the developers wrote.

Kingmakers, the medieval battle game with modern weapons, has been delayed

by admin October 5, 2025

Redemption Road’s absolutely bonkers-looking medieval shooter, Kingmakers, was slated to launch in Early Access on October 8, but now its release has been pushed back with no new date in sight. The developers posted an update on Steam to say that the scheduled launch, just days away, “will no longer be possible,” going on to explain that they need “a bit more time on content polish before we feel good about charging money for it.”

A statement posted by the developers of Kingmakers announcing that the game is delayed

(Redemption Road Games)

Kingmakers has generated a fair amount of hype since it was announced last year, and it sits among the top wishlisted titles on Steam. The game sends players “back in time to a war-torn medieval era with a vast arsenal of modern weapons,” from guns to tanks. And if you’ve seen the trailers, you know it’s not just the concept that’s bananas — the gameplay we’ve been shown so far is completely over the top. In its statement about the delay, the team said that Kingmakers is “an incredibly ambitious, uncompromising game, and we don’t want to cut any planned features, for the sake of getting it out the door earlier.”

“With Kingmakers, we set out to push the Unreal Engine 4 codebase to its absolute limits, while still providing true 60fps to midrange PCs, without the need for fake frames,” the team wrote. “We are an 80% engineering team, who got into this business to push technological barriers. We currently have tens of thousands of soldiers, each with AI and pathfinding that rivals what you’d expect from a AAA third person shooter. When you walk away from a battle, it continues to play out. Nothing is faked.”

The developers haven’t provided any update on what the timeline looks like now beyond the fact that the game won’t be ready for October 8. But, they added, “We will be presenting a half hour long deepdive on Kingmakers gameplay very soon, with a comprehensive overview of everything we’ve been working on.”

Kingmakers delayed indefinitely as developer needs “more time before we feel good about charging money for it”

by admin October 4, 2025

Redemption Road’s time-travelling bring-an-assault-rifle-to-a-medieval-sword-fight shooter and strategy game, Kingmakers, has been indefinitely delayed.

Redemption stated it pushed the release to ensure it does not “cut any planned features for the sake of getting it out of the door earlier” and apologised for “letting [players] down”.

Kingmakers – Early Access Release Date Trailer.Watch on YouTube

“After much contemplation, we realise that the scheduled Kingmakers launch on October 8 will no longer be possible. We want to apologise to all of the fans who are eagerly anticipating this game. We are sorry for letting you down,” the studio said in a statement posted to social media.

“Why is Kingmakers being delayed? In short, it’s an incredibly ambitious, uncompromising game, and we don’t want to cut any planned features, for the sake of getting it out the door earlier. Our goal, from the start, has been to create something that’s nothing like anything else on the market, in terms of gameplay, scale, scope, and interactivity.”

The statement goes on to say that Redemption Road “pushed the Unreal Engine 4 codebase to its absolute limits”, while still providing “true 60fps to mid-range PCs, without the need for fake frames”.

“We are an 80% engineering team, who got into this business to push technological barriers,” the team added, before describing how the game has “tens of thousands of soldiers” each with AI and pathfinding that “rivals what you’d expect from a AAA person shooter” and how players can enter every room in its six-story castles.

“Every mission takes place in a giant, massive map that each player on the server is free to explore – with or without their own personal army of thousands,” Redemption added. “We set out to do all of this, with full drop-in/drop-out four-player multiplayer support, and we have. We just need a little bit more time on content polish before we feel good about charging money for it.”

The statement closed on promising that the studio would shortly present a half-hour-long deep dive on Kingmaker’s gameplay, “with a comprehensive overview of everything we’ve been working on”.

Donlan was certainly impressed when Kingsmakers memorable teaser dropped, writing: “Over the last decade or so, alongside the bigger, fewer bets publishers have made – which has also often led to formula, to conservatism – an onward march in graphical fidelity means that a certain kind of game has become obsessed with the details. I love details, and I love that games do this.”

Kingmakers may not be out yet, but it’s already secured a movie adaptation. The studio said it was “absolutely thrilled” that the unreleased game was “making its way to the big screen” in partnership with publisher tinyBuild and Story Kitchen.

My insatiable lust for windmill flirtation will have to stay contained until next year, as Building Relationships is delayed

My insatiable lust for windmill flirtation will have to stay contained until next year, as Building Relationships is delayed

by admin October 3, 2025

It’s inching closer to last thing UK time on a Friday, so my job is to bring you the single most devastating and depressing bit of news I can to get the weekend started right. Building Relationships, the funky little game in which you play a house in search of a romantic connection with another building, has had its full release delayed to early 2026.

See, I told you it’d be devastating. A few months’ extra wait until you can engage in more vaguely flirty banter with a windmill. I knew I should have insisted we develop some embeddable tissues which could be inserted into articles.

“It was a tough decision, but I wanted to give more time for the game to breathe — to polish on the narrative and ensure that the game feels smooth,” developer Tanat Boozayaangool wrote in a Steam post about the delay. “I want to tell a meaningful story through this game, but right now, everything feels rushed. I’m thankful for the reception on this game so far, grateful for all the opportunities that the community has enabled for me.

“But looking at the game as a whole, it just needs a lil bit more time. This will also give the team time to work through bugs, optimization, and accessibility features to ensure that we launch with the best version of Building Relationships. Rest assured, that the end is in sight: the story arc has been set, the plot determined — I just need to give it a bit more polish.”

They then shared a teaser image of the player building sitting next to a windmill in a garden. COME ON, YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE MAKING THE ADDED WAIT EASIER.

I digress. While I played the Steam demo for Building Relationships (which is still live if you want to dive in) after reading some Next Fest coverage Oisin wrote about it back when both of us were at brash and occasionally funny RPS sister site VG247, both Edwin and Nic have also written about it here. Here’s an except from the former’s piece that neatly sums out what the game’s all about:

Building Relationships stands out the most in hindsight because it felt the most at ease in its own skin and also, because it’s not every day you get to chat up a small apartment building. (I personally wouldn’t date an apartment building because all the ones I’ve lived in had mold, but this one had a certain forlorn charisma, reminiscent of that friend who’s too busy pairing off everybody else to find love himself.) It’s a pocket open worlder with boisterous katamari physics in which you bounce about fluttering your curtains at bungalows and completing very simple quests, such as fishing (in this case, for cars). It is a game wholly invested in the act of enjoying a pun, which is surely the definition of a promising first date. It has pleasantly daft writing, blossoming biomes that remind me of Proteus a bit, and some amusing camera angle choices during conversation.

Right, I’m off to try and distract myself until early next year with some non-building related puns.

Moonlighter 2 delayed to November due to overstuffed October release schedule

Moonlighter 2 delayed to November due to overstuffed October release schedule

by admin October 1, 2025

The early access release of Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault has been delayed by a month due to the amount of games being released in October.

Developer Digital Sun and publisher 11 Bit Studios had originally planned to release its RPG shop-sim adventure sequel on 23rd October, but now it’ll be out on 19th November.

October has “filled up with so many other great releases that we feel it has become too crowded for us” they wrote in a statement shared on Steam. “And as every wise shopkeeper knows, even the most precious gem can be overlooked in an overstuffed showcase.”

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault | Early Access Date Reveal TrailerWatch on YouTube

In the meantime, closed playtests will run soon on Steam and the Microsoft Store, with details expected soon.

October’s release schedule is certainly looking stacked. The 23rd, specifically, sees the release of Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted, Once Upon a Katamari and Double Dragon Revive.

However, there are other big games due out the rest of the month, including:

  • Ghost of Yotei – 2nd October
  • Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 – 2nd October
  • Digimon Story: Time Stranger – 3rd October
  • Battlefield 6 – 10th October
  • Little Nightmares 3 – 10th October
  • Pokemon Legends: Z-A – 16th October
  • Jurassic World Evolution 3 – 21st October
  • Ninja Gaiden 4 – 21st October
  • Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 – 21st October
  • The Outer Worlds 2 – 29th October
  • Arc Raiders – 30th October
  • Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake – 30th October

Still, even with the move, Moonlighter 2 will now compete with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on 14th November.

While it’s certainly a wise move to not have quite so much competition on release, it’s near impossible to find a quiet release date to stand out with so many games released these days.

Plenty of games shifted release date in the wake of Hollow Knight: Silksong’s surprise launch, but has this set a worrying precedent?

Silksong’s surprise release in particular was described as “a little callous” by Hell is Us creative director Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, believing it impacted sales of the sci-fi adventure.

The early access release for Moonlighter 2 was announced back in August. The game is a follow-up to 2018’s Moonlighter, and sees a shift from top-down to 3D worlds.

Survival Mountain Climbing Game Cairn Delayed To 2026

by admin September 30, 2025

Carin, the survival mountain climbing game set to release on November 4, has been delayed to Q1 2026. The game was first revealed during Summer Game Fest 2024.

Developed by The Game Bakers, the creators of Furi and Haven, Cairn centers on protagonist Aava embarking on an expedition to climb the perilous Mount Kami. The game features realistic climbing mechanics and physics, as players must carefully manage their tools and resources (like food and water) to gradually work their way towards the summit.

The Game Bakers says that although Cairn is content complete, it needs a few more months to focus on optimization, debugging, and overall polish. “We have been running a lot of playtests, and the feedback from players is that we have something truly special with Cairn. We also see all the improvements we can still do to make the experience unforgettable. After 5 years of work, it makes no sense to rush it, we want to be proud of the game we launch,” explained creative director Emeric Thoa.

Although Cairn has no new release date, the game’s well-received Steam demo will be updated on October 13, which will allow players to see the “ghosts” of other players climbing alongside them. Players can race against these specters, or follow them to find hidden paths, but this feature will only be available for a limited time. A new trailer shows off this update below.

When Cairn launches next year, it will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC.

Cool Terminator Game Delayed Again Due To Trump’s Tariffs

by admin September 30, 2025

Terminator 2D: No Fate is an upcoming video game adaptation of the original ’90s action movie sequel that is designed to look, sound, and play like classic 2D games from that era. No Fate looks really awesome. But sadly, due to ongoing tariffs enacted by President Donald Trump, this cool-looking Terminator game has been delayed (again) from October to November.

On September 28, Terminator 2D: No Fate publisher Reef Entertainment and developer Bitmap Bureau announced that the upcoming side-scrolling action game was being delayed a second time until November 26. In a statement posted to the publisher’s official website, the company blamed the delay on “ongoing global trade and tariff changes” that caused shipping issues with components needed to produce the Day One and Collector’s Editions versions of the game. And because the studio and publisher want to ship the game to all platforms and users at the same time, No Fate’s release date was pushed back. This delay affects digital and physical copies worldwide.

“We truly appreciate your patience and understanding, and we’re sorry for this further delay,” said Reef Entertainment. “The team is working hard to make sure your wait is worth it, and we can’t wait to share Terminator 2D: No Fate with you all this November.”

This isn’t the first delay for Terminator 2D: No Fate. In July, the 2D action platformer based on James Cameron’s iconic action flick starring Arnold Schwarzenegger was delayed from its initial release date of September 5 to October 31, just in time for Halloween. But that’s not happening anymore, and you can directly blame Trump, who continues to screw around with tariffs haphazardly, causing global chaos for those trying to buy, ship, or import products or resources to the United States.

The Witcher 3's final patch delivering cross-platform mod support has been delayed until 2026

The Witcher 3’s final patch delivering cross-platform mod support has been delayed until 2026

by admin September 26, 2025

In May this year, despite being deep in development on The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2, CD Projekt revealed that they’d be whipping out one more patch for The Witcher 3 in honour of its tenth birthday. Said update was originally set to drop in 2025, but has now been pushed back into 2026.

It’s a little bit of an extra wait for cross-platform mod support, and given what the studio have been like witch Cyberpunk 2077’s seemingly never-ending string of last updates, I’m not ruling out them having secretly decided to add more new stuff to the RPG masterpiece while they’re at it.

“We originally planned to introduce cross-platform mod support for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S later this year, but the rollout is now shifting to 2026,” the studio announced in a tweet. “We apologise for the delay and will share more details as we get closer to the release. Thank you for your patience!”

While the update’s arguably bigger news for console players who’ll be getting access to Witcher 3 mods for the first time, as we saw with Baldur’s Gate 3’s built-in mod support, having another way for us PC folks to mod up our games is never a bad thing. As in that case, this official Witcher modding support will be done via Mod.io, which might be a preferable route for some, especially for relative modding newbies.

We originally planned to introduce cross-platform mod support for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S later this year, but the rollout is now shifting to 2026.

Obviously sticking to established modding setups will still be an option on PC. Odds are a lot of the most popular works will end up on both Mod.io and Nexus Mods, with more advanced mods likely remaining PC exclusive due to the added restrictions console modding entails. PC’ll also remain the sole place you can fire up the REDkit tools CD Projekt released a little while ago to create mods.

If you fancy giving the full FAQ CD Projekt released alongside their initial announcement of the update a read or re-read, you can find it here. Otherwise, here’s a cool Witcher 3 mod you can play right now.

Borderlands 4 On Switch 2 Delayed Amid Ongoing Performance Issues

by admin September 24, 2025

Despite launching on September 12 to a generally positive critical reception, Borderlands 4 has been plagued with performance issues on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. While the studio continues to iron out the kinks, it has decided to delay the Switch 2 launch of Borderlands 4 to an unspecified date.

Since its launch on other platforms, players have reported technical issues with Borderlands 4, including unstable framerates, stuttering, and crashes, even on higher-end PCs. As a result of the latter, the game’s Steam reviews currently stand at “Mixed.”

Borderlands 4 was scheduled to launch on Switch 2 on October 3, but Gearbox has pushed the date to ensure this version doesn’t suffer a similar fate. As a result, Gearbox is canceling all digital pre-orders on the Nintendo eShop (though players can do this themselves or wait for it to occur automatically on Friday, September 26). The studio also states it plans to time the eventual release of this version to coincide with the arrival of cross-saves, a feature currently in development.

Here is Gearbox’s full message, as shared on X:

Greetings, Vault Hunters.
We need to share that the release of Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 is being delayed. We do not take this decision lightly, but are committed to ensuring we deliver the best possible experience to our fans, and the game needs additional development and polish time to do that. Our hope is to also better align this release with the addition of cross-saves, which we are working on and recognize is very important. We will update you all on the new release timing once we’ve fully adjusted our plans.
In accordance with Nintendo’s policy, all digital pre-orders to date will be cancelled. Customers can initiate that process themselves now, or it will happen automatically starting on Friday, September 26. For questions about the Nintendo eShop, contact [Nintendo]. For physical pre-orders, please reach out to the corresponding retailer.
We greatly appreciate the feedback, support and patience of our fans and community. It’s truly what keeps us going.

For more on Borderlands 4, you can watch our recent interview with the developers on this episode of The Game Informer Show podcast. You can read Game Informer’s Borderlands 4 review by following the link.
