Sunswap Drives TRON DeFi Expansion With 16 Million Transactions

Tron (TRX) has been gaining significant attention recently, both for its strong fundamentals and its steady price action within a clearly defined uptrend. Despite market volatility across the crypto sector, Tron has consistently demonstrated resilience, supported by its growing ecosystem and dominance in the stablecoin market.

One of the key drivers of this momentum is Sunswap, the leading decentralized exchange (DeX) on the Tron network. According to CryptoQuant data, Sunswap continues its rapid ascent, crossing major milestones in transaction activity and user adoption. The platform is now natively integrated into several widely used wallets, including BitgetWallet, TrustWallet, and TronLink, making it easier for millions of users to access Tron’s DeFi ecosystem seamlessly.

In addition to DeFi growth, Tron has established itself as the primary hub for USDT supply, with over $80 billion of Tether circulating on the blockchain. This leadership in stablecoin adoption underscores Tron’s role as a backbone of liquidity in crypto markets, facilitating fast and cost-efficient transactions.

Sunswap Transactions Point To Growing Strength In Tron

According to top analyst Darkfost, Sunswap has now surpassed a major milestone with over 16 million transactions since its launch, cementing its role as Tron’s leading decentralized exchange. Despite a volatile market in 2025, Sunswap’s weekly transaction count has remained remarkably steady, showcasing resilience and consistent user activity. This strength is further reflected in Tron’s active addresses, which have now exceeded 2.5 million, a figure that continues to trend upward in a stable manner.

Sunswap’s growth is not only about volume but also about diversification. The platform has been expanding its offering by listing more tokens, including TRUMP, the token tied to US President Donald Trump, which has gained attention among traders. This diversification reflects Sunswap’s adaptability and ability to capture interest across different market narratives.

Looking back at 2024, transactions involving the top 20 tokens exceeded 12 million, with WTRX and USDT dominating activity. However, other tokens like SUNDOG and JST also had a noticeable presence, while the share of smaller tokens labeled as “OTHERS” grew.

In 2025, with more than 6 million transactions already recorded, the trend is shifting. The dominance of WTRX appears to be decreasing, while newer entrants such as LMTV, SUNDOG, and JST are gaining traction. This transition highlights Sunswap’s evolving ecosystem, where trading activity is becoming more evenly distributed across a broader set of assets, signaling a healthier and more sustainable DeFi environment on Tron.

TRX Price Analysis: Testing Support

The 4-hour chart of Tron (TRX) shows the asset consolidating after an extended uptrend, with price currently trading near $0.3518. The short-term structure remains bullish, but momentum is slowing as TRX tests its 50-period moving average around $0.3550. This zone is acting as immediate resistance, while the 100-period SMA at $0.3520 is serving as dynamic support.

Tron fails to set a higher high | Source: TRXUSDT chart on TradingView

Over the past month, TRX has consistently made higher highs and higher lows, confirming a bullish market structure. However, the recent sharp rejection from the $0.37 level highlights increasing selling pressure near local highs. A failure to defend the 100-SMA could expose the 200-SMA around $0.3390, which aligns with a stronger support area.

If bulls manage to hold above $0.3520 and reclaim the 50-SMA, a retest of $0.365–$0.370 is likely, potentially opening the door for a breakout toward new highs. Conversely, a breakdown below $0.3390 would suggest deeper consolidation, potentially dragging TRX toward the $0.32 region.

The trend remains intact, but momentum indicators suggest caution as the market consolidates after its strong rally. The coming sessions will be crucial in determining whether TRX resumes its uptrend or enters a corrective phase.

Private DeFi is also about market efficiency

by admin August 23, 2025

Disclosure: The views and opinions expressed here belong solely to the author and do not represent the views and opinions of crypto.news’ editorial.

Believe it or not, DeFi has a transparency problem. Transparency is one of the cornerstones of decentralized finance, but radical transparency also comes with unintended costs. While it may be fine for pseudonymous retail users, it creates strategic friction for capital allocators, institutional players, and protocol builders.

Summary

  • Transparency has hidden costs: In DeFi, wallet doxxing, alpha leakage, and MEV extraction turn “openness” into a disadvantage, compromising privacy, safety, and competitiveness.
  • Unfair market dynamics: Public mempools enable frontrunning and sandwiching, with bots extracting over $1.9B in MEV on Ethereum — an invisible tax on users.
  • Privacy ≠ secrecy: True privacy creates fairer markets by protecting strategies while keeping outcomes verifiable. It’s about efficiency, not opacity.
  • Zero-knowledge proofs unlock balance: ZKPs enable compliance checks, proof-of-liquidity, and private execution without exposing wallets, strategies, or counterparties.
  • The future is programmable privacy: To attract institutions, DeFi must integrate privacy-first infrastructure that balances regulation, efficiency, and confidentiality.

There is such a thing as too much transparency. Even beyond privacy concerns, DeFi’s current default to pseudonymous transactions is not the right infrastructure for many of these participants. Wallet doxxing, alpha leakage, and MEV are direct consequences of a system where your every move is public before it’s final.

DeFi needs to move towards an approach where it can carefully balance transparency with privacy that promotes market efficiency.

The hidden costs of transparent markets

On public blockchains, every transaction, strategy, and wallet can be tracked in real time. That includes large positions, fund flows, and arbitrage routes. This creates a new playing field for market participants that leads to scenarios that never existed before in the world of TradFi. One where there are new risks, many aren’t willing to assume.

The starting point for these hidden problems is wallet doxxing. Pseudonymous addresses can and have been identified and tied back to their owners. There are even platforms dedicated to rewarding users for doing so. This turns high-value addresses into permanent public ledgers of activity and compromises their anonymity, safety, and competitive strategy.

There’s also a strategic cost. The moment an institutional wallet becomes identifiable, every trade becomes a signal that the address owner might or might not want publicly broadcast. This means alpha gets copied instantly, or changes in strategic direction get leaked prematurely. On-chain strategies like arbitrage, yield farming, or liquidity routing are routinely cloned, sandwiched, and drained by bots within minutes. This creates an uncompetitive environment where firms would be leaking trade secrets into a public forum.

Worst of all: frontrunning and MEV are now normalized. Public mempools let bots reorder or sandwich trades before they settle. The Ethereum (ETH) ecosystem has seen over $1.9  billion in MEV extracted, leading many to call it an “invisible tax” paid by users simply for interacting with the system.

Privacy as market infrastructure

We need to move past binaries and realize that privacy is not about compromising transparency. Privacy is about fair market conditions, and ultimately, market efficiency. Without privacy, DeFi becomes a zero-sum game dominated by bots and extractors. With it, DeFi becomes a more viable infrastructure layer for institutions, market makers, and real economic activity.

Luckily, we have the technology to create these nuances, and we have it at the infrastructure level. The main balancing act for privacy in DeFi comes with the ability to verify outcomes without revealing inputs, which is what zero-knowledge infrastructure enables. It enables confidential price discovery, fair execution, and strategic discretion, all without sacrificing transparency.

We can have market conditions that are fair and efficient by keeping the how, what, and when transparent — all without unnecessarily exposing the who.

A privacy-first approach to DeFi infrastructure using ZKPs unlocks this balance by allowing a participant to prove something is true without revealing the underlying data. Likewise, it enables new use cases that make DeFi even more appealing. Imagine:

  • Compliance without exposure: Prove KYC status or jurisdictional eligibility without sharing personal details.
  • Proof-of-liquidity: Show solvency or capital commitments without disclosing wallets or balances.
  • Anti-front-running execution: Run private auctions or batch orders where trade intent is hidden until settlement.

Private DeFi upgrades how data flows between counterparties, and they redefine what it means to transact in the open.

Institutional adoption needs programmable privacy

Many retail users already flock to these benefits, proving that private DeFi marks the next step in crypto adoption. We’re already seeing the rise of private trading pools and confidential rollups.

Institutional newcomers will soon look for similar benefits, especially solutions that streamline compliance with a privacy-first approach. Many onchain compliance mechanisms allow parties to transact confidently while ensuring that they remain regulatorily aligned. Hybrid models are also emerging where transparency is offered where it’s needed (for auditors, regulators, or DAOs), and privacy where it’s not (for trading strategies, counterparties, and wallet activity).

The key is striking the right balance between legal compliance and user confidentiality. A privacy-first approach to DeFi infrastructure provides institutions with the right tools to achieve this and creates healthy market dynamics.

We need to stop treating privacy as a threat to legitimacy. In reality, privacy is what makes legitimacy scalable. Private DeFi means protecting alpha, enabling efficient participation, and rewarding the most effective market participants by letting the right strategies succeed in an open system. More so, they can do so while demonstrating that they operate on the right side of regulations.

If we want DeFi to be more than a speculative playground, we must give builders and institutions the tools actually to compete, and privacy is the starting point.

Writing Defi Code Won’t Land You In Jail

by admin August 22, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

In a major policy shift, federal prosecutors are changing how they approach decentralized finance, or Defi.

After years of uncertainty around liability for coders and software developers, officials are now drawing a clear line between creating technology and committing a crime.

The US Justice Department has announced it will no longer target software developers who build Defi platforms without proof of criminal intent.

Acting Assistant Attorney General Matthew Galeotti made the remarks Thursday during a digital assets summit in Wyoming. He said that writing code alone does not constitute a crime.

This signals a significant change from earlier enforcement strategies where prosecutors charged developers for operating unlicensed money transmission businesses.

Debate Over Money Transmission Rules

Regulators have long applied stringent rules to companies in the money remittance business, but the rise of Defi systems is putting those standards to the test.

Traditional payment platforms face clear obligations, while DeFi projects say those same rules don’t make sense in a code-driven environment.

Money transmitters such as PayPal and Cash App must secure licenses and comply with anti-money laundering obligations. They also have to verify customers and report suspicious transactions.

But decentralized exchanges argue these rules don’t fit their model since they have no control over user activity on their platforms.

NEW: US DOJ’S ACTING AAG MATTHEW GALEOTTI SAYS “OUR VIEW IS THAT MERELY WRITING CODE, WITHOUT ILL INTENT, IS NOT A CRIME. INNOVATING NEW WAYS FOR THE ECONOMY TO STORE AND TRANSMIT VALUE AND CREATE WEALTH, WITHOUT ILL INTENT, IS NOT A CRIME”https://t.co/iyGVBr0BCZ

On Defi, Hiding Money & Ill Intent

The issue came under the spotlight after a New York jury recently convicted Roman Storm, co-founder of Tornado Cash, on conspiracy charges linked to operating an unlicensed money transmitting business.

Tornado Cash is a privacy service specifically designed to make Defi and cryptocurrency transactions more difficult to trace.

Jurors could not reach a decision on whether Storm committed money laundering or violated sanctions.

Prosecutors said the service allowed illicit finance, while critics of the case argued Storm had only written code.

Prosecutors Will Prioritize Evidence Of Intent

According to Galeotti, future cases in the Defi and crypto space will require proof that a developer knowingly aided fraud, sanctions evasion, or laundering.

“Innovating new ways for the economy to store and transmit value and create wealth, without ill-intent, is not a crime,” he said.

He added that laws banning unlicensed money transmission will not apply to developers unless there is evidence of deliberate wrongdoing.

The focus of the US justices will remain on fraud, Ponzi schemes, and global laundering networks, including those based in China and other countries suspected of carrying out illicit transactions.

Hyperliquid Takes 80% Of Defi Perps Market, Hits $30B Daily Volume

Hyperliquid Takes 80% of DeFi Perps Market, Hits $30B Daily Volume

by admin August 21, 2025

Hyperliquid has become the star of decentralized finance by taking more than 80% of the perpetuals market and handling over $30 billion in trades every single day, according to a new report from RedStone

This rise happened in only one year, which is very fast for any crypto platform. RedStone, notes Hyperliquid is now competing with some of the largest centralized exchanges because of its speed, its design, and the way it helps builders.

One of the main reasons for this growth is Hyperliquid’s order book. Most decentralized platforms struggle to keep up with centralized exchanges, but Hyperliquid’s order book runs fully on-chain and still gives the same speed and fair pricing.

Another reason is due to HIP-3, which is described as Hyperliquid’s permissionless market creation system. This system allows anyone to create new markets without any requirement from a third party.

HIP-3 also shares revenue with developers, and in many cases, these developers earn even more than the protocol itself. RedStone explained that this has encouraged many builders to join, which has turned Hyperliquid into one of the most creative and active communities in decentralized finance.

Hyperliquid also uses a special design made up of HyperCore and HyperEVM. This setup lets users try new financial ideas, such as tokenized perpetual positions and strategies that balance risk. It also gives tools for better liquidity, which is very important for smooth trading.

“Hyperliquid is setting a new standard,” the RedStone report said. It added that the platform’s design and community-driven approach are opening “unprecedented opportunities for builders and institutions alike.”

Meanwhile, there are numbers to back this up. According to data from DefiLlama, Hyperliquid has more than $2.2 billion locked on its network. In addition to that, it has processed $330 billion in total trading volume in the past 30 days.

What makes this story even more unusual is that Hyperliquid is not backed by large venture capital firms. Instead, it is run by a lean, self-funded team.

Kraken Expands xStocks to Tron, Boosting Access and DeFi Trading

by admin August 20, 2025

Tokenized stocks are racing into the spotlight, and Kraken is moving fast to stay ahead. On Wednesday, the exchange announced it is expanding its xStocks product onto the Tron blockchain. Through a partnership with TRON DAO and tokenization startup Backed, Kraken is now rolling out tokenized versions of popular equities like Apple, Nvidia, and Tesla across three major blockchains in less than two months.

Unlike conventional shares, these tokenized assets function as debt instruments for compliance, meaning holders cannot exercise governance rights. However, investors still gain fractional ownership, 24/7 trading, and DeFi integration.

Growing Multi-Chain Support

Kraken co-CEO Arjun Sethi highlighted the rapid expansion, saying, “Expanding xStocks to three blockchains in under 60 days shows what’s possible when you design for openness from the start.”

The platform already links with Solana’s Kamino, Raydium, and Jupiter, as well as BNB Chain’s PancakeSwap and Venus Protocol. By deploying TRC-20 tokens on Tron, Backed ensures full 1:1 asset backing while allowing deposits and withdrawals directly within the Tron ecosystem.

“Tokenized equities represent a natural evolution for crypto, bridging traditional markets with blockchain,” added Justin Sun, founder of Tron, emphasising the wider picture. He said that greater accessibility for users globally could allow for efficiency and inclusivity for investors who were previously excluded.

Tron Sentiment and Market Impact

In the meantime, Tron’s network has seen an increase in profitability for its holders. Recent insights from CryptoQuant reveal that one-week holders have enjoyed a 3.8% rise. As per the chart, one-month holders have gained 10.3%, and three-month holders are leading with 31.2% profit.

Notably, with $6.6 billion locked up, Coinbase’s Base network recently overtook Tron in the DeFi rankings, showing extreme competition on several ecosystems. “Base is doing a great job promoting native lending and borrowing protocols,” a spokesperson for DeFi lender Morpho, the biggest DeFi protocol on Base with over $2.5 billion in deposits, said.

Tokenized equities are changing access to financial markets. Kraken’s move into Tron indicates rising interest in blockchain-based stocks and hints at a closer relationship between crypto and traditional assets.

In a press release shared with crypto.news, Bitpanda — one of Europe’s leading crypto platforms offering over 3,200 digital assets — has launched the Bitpanda DeFi Wallet, the second product in its Web3 suite.

The wallet allows users to trade, earn, and manage digital assets across multiple chains without leaving the app. At launch, it supports over 5,000 tokens and multiple blockchain networks including Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Polygon (POL), BNB Chain (BNB), Avalanche (AVAX), Optimism (OP), Base (BASE), and Arbitrum (ARB).

Key features include:

  • Multi-chain DeFi access with more networks planned
  • Smart swaps across 5,000+ tokens with optimized pricing
  • Self-custodial wallet with optional Bitpanda Backup for secure recovery
  • Curated DeFi yield pools, reviewed for transparency
  • Sponsored gas fees on select Layer 2 networks
  • Seamless integration with existing Bitpanda accounts, enabling transfers without manual address input

Bitpanda will also soon launch a Web3-native loyalty program, where users can earn points via onchain actions, with staked Vision (VSN) tokens acting as multipliers to maximize rewards — including exclusive perks and early access to new products.

Recent milestones for Bitpanda

The launch of the Bitpanda DeFi Wallet builds on a series of major milestones and strategic moves by the company.

Earlier this month, Bitpanda posted its strongest financial performance to date, generating $426 million in operating revenue, up 162% from the year before, driven by new partnerships and its growing range of regulated offerings.

The company also secured a MiCA license from Germany’s BaFin in January, enabling operations across all 27 EU member states under a unified regulatory framework, and obtained a broker-dealer license in Dubai, marking its first fully licensed expansion outside Europe.
